I doubt that's going to happen. STD is getting less views than a c-list youtuber, there is no way anybody is going to throw any more money at Bad Robot or Paramount for their "Star Trek" swill.

>trying to make kids care about Star Trek post-60's

Good luck with that. Even the Abrams movies didn't build a sizable new fanbase amongst people who aren't nerds. Modern kids have a lot of choice when it comes to sci-fi adventure shit, and Star Trek is always going to seem like the boring one, when Star Wars and Halo are sitting right there.

Nickelodeon is part of Viacom.

I think it's a grab for a new audience, because they have repeatedly failed to understand the existing fanbase, or grab the normalgroid GoT audience they wanted.

Rights issues though.

Viacom is still in the weird empire along with Paramount, which probably means they have to do that 25% different BS.

So it'll be 'sitcom in space' then, that's not much of an improvement.

I'd be fine with JJ Trek Space Cases. At least we could get some new waifus out of it.

>animated comedy series

STD is already an unintentional comedy, God knows how an intentional comedy would look like.
