b4ecfb No.21992 [View All]
How many here remember this crystal resting on Picard's desk in the ready room? He plays with it like a pen at times, and supposedly it shows up in 78 episodes, starting from S2 of TNG.
The mandela effect dudes are throwing a party over this. I can't say I remember it either, but it's such a minor element that I might have just never noticed it on a SD screen. Still, I've spent hundreds of hours looking at that ready room and to notice such a new detail now is bewildering.

I'm pretty sure I vaguely remember the crystal sitting on the desk, but I don't really remember him playing with it.

Didn't he give that to the musically gifted astrophysicist girlfriend he briefly had in one episode?
I rewatched TNG and had forgotten about that, it blew my mind because Picard usually did so horribly with women, at least relative to Kirk.

Picard wasn't horrible with women; in fact I'd argue between Jenice Manheim, Vash, Mirando Vigo, Crusher making eyes at him for seven years and the astrophysics bitch it's clear he could slay pussy with the best of them when he wanted to. However, the man's boner for his privacy and the captain's chair means he's usually in a self-imposed dry spell.

It's because the sets on the TNG era (TNG, DS9, VOY, not sure if ENT did it too) were made on a scale of about 85% to make everyone look bigger. Frakes being slightly taller doesn't help.

There's no reason for a man to suddenly decide to cut off his balls unless he's going to transition to a woman. From recent appearances, we can surmise that he's certainly transitioned into a massive twat, but not a woman.

I'll take it to mean your sister is psychologically pre-operational and likely thought he was a girl because of his outfit being a singlet like Troi's, thus assuming that "on this TV show, all girls dress like that". Little kids are excellent at recognizing patterns, but often recognize the wrong ones.

Fuck, nobody watches TV anymore. Viewer counts have been steadily declining since the early 90s, and the rise of social media in the past ten years has only accelerated that. It used to be that most people would spend at least a couple of hours each evening watching TV, now they're just as likely to spend that time on facebook or twitter. I don't even use social media and I haven't watched TV in the better part of a decade.
I guess my point is that kids today aren't going to be watching Discovery. When they think back on it in the future they'll probably just lump it together with the rest of trek as "one of those TV things that old people watch".

>A sort of meme that proposes that whenever massive groups of people remember something differently than how it actually is, it means there's some sort of timeline schism or dimensional shift. It's called that because at one point, tons of people were sure they remembered hearing the Nelson Mandela died years ago. Also applies to that whole Berenstein/Berenstain meme.
