I watched Discovery because I wanted more Star Trek and I have already watched every other series (yes including TAS) and all movies, and most fan films.
It's OK, and more or less fulfills the need for more Star Trek, I've also watched The Orville, Galaxy Quest, Babylon 5, and that one episode of Black Mirror.
The craving is real. I think I'll start getting into the comics now, they seems to have plenty of content to offer. Anyway $5.99 isn't that much, and I guarantee I'm poorer than you. It's worth mentioning that CBS owns all Star Trek, so if you only use Netflix to watch Trek you might actually save money by just watching TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY on CBS all access…..and then there's always MASH.

music aside I like how they approach the business side of things and how they understand most of the money really comes from live shows concerts and fans doing remixes can help promote your stuff. Though I'm biased in the sense that I think the best remixes of Daft Punk tends to come from Daft Punk themselves.
IMO the original version is not bad, it's certainly got it's share of catchy songs. But it really works best as a base to launch related things such as Interstella555,

The fact that Tyler was a surgically altered Klingon was one of the better decisions to make it interesting. Spoiler the worst part is that they kill the Klingon in him off and he becomes like a complete regular again instead of giving his character more dimensions
Michael Burnham is a character that you can't wrap your head arround, on one hand she's a Vulcanboo and on the other hand she's this super emotional drama queen that wants everything to evolve arround her. Don't like her characterization, the only thing she's having for her is the fact that she's good looking. Lorca worked as a character but guess what they kill him off. So yeah, STD is a bit all over the place, and feels like they tried to cram in as many shit as possible in the first season to break the Star Trek rule of having a boring first season (which you can't allow yourself to have in 2018), but everything is chaotic and incoherent.
Mirror Universe isn't worth to span over so many episodes. It's such a comical over-the-top world that works well for one episode, not for more. MU episodes are also the worst in DS9 because they also try to make it a storyline, whereas we never got a TNG one which would have probably been cool.

I THINK they managed to capture the real Ash Tyler and then Voq was surgically made into him and they errr, switched brains or synapses or something? I guess? To make sure a mandatory medical check-up wouldn't catch the fact that there was something wrong with his brain (and really everything). It makes no sense and an easier way of doing this switcheroo would've been to just plant a false memory since the events of the show proved the switchup was a hack job anyway and have some implant that confused the medical equipment into telling your brain is a-okay.

Never met a girl who actually cared about virtue signaling, they do complain though when a woman is portrayed one-dimensional and stupid. Like that dumb bitch from the newest Jurassic Park movie.
And that's how all these nufemale characters are, one-dimensional. At least it's not sexist, but it's really just a problem of the movie industry trying to appeal to certain identities and scenes. In the past, a blockbuster was something that everybody watched, TOS was something everybody watched, no you got stupid shit like "franchises" like that Marvel crap.

You are kidding me, right? She was a naive, incompetent mess who needed a manly man who literally bikes with raptors to show her how things work in the real world, and that her purpose is not to mess things up at the job but to just get married and get kids. This movie was more sexist than fucking TOS, and TOS was from the 60s.

The problem with JP is that once you introduced all the dinosaurs, which the first movie did, there really isn't much what you can add to that. There is only a limited amount of ways dinosaurs can maul and mutilate people before things become repetitve, That's why the shitty reboots needed genetically altered Superdinosaurs like in JW (which still kinda lost to a regular T-Rex) or a raptor saying "Alan!". With space, you never run out of possibilities to throw new aliens at the protagonists.

I am even bothered by human males beating Klingons up so easily since TNG, aren't Klingons supposed have greater muscle mass and density? For that, they are always going down pretty meager in hand-to-hand combat, especially considering that their entire fucking culture revolves arround the way of the warrior, while the Federation culture revolves arround exploration and science.
And then having a relatively skinny human female defeating a fucking Klingon warlord twice in STD is beyond ridiculous. At least in Game of Thrones, you got Brienne of Tarth being an ugly-ass monster - this was before GRRM couldn't keep it in his pants and came up with the fucking sand snakes.

I am having a hard time getting even remotely involved in her personal drama all the time. I mean, having your parents being killed, despite being such an overused trope, is understandable, that's fucked up. But the rest? She beats herself up over starting the war, when in fact, she clearly didn't or at least had little influence over it since it was on T'Kuma's agenda anyway. She is an absolute autist when it comes to dating or making friends, but what is all this wallowing in self-pity? Why would you even want to be friends or date a person who is so self-absorbed? She's being presented as a person everybody wants to fuck and befriend, and the only obstacle is just her not being able to open up. Especially since Tyler, who is the ship's chad, is being presented to her like on a fucking silver plate, by her ginger friend who is also and autist when it comes to dating. Have you ever seen girls acting like this when an attractive desired man is involved, especially when they are both incels?
It just feels like Michael is in a holodeck program where everybody is just there to please her, fuck her or want to be friends with her.

The whole raised by Vulcans thing is really dumb too. Were the Vulcans and humans not in close contact by that point? Couldn't the Vulcans just call someone up and say "hey, we've got one of your kids, come and pick her up"? The whole thing paints Sarek in a slightly sinister light. Like he chose to hold onto this human child to study her like a lab animal. That's something the Romulans or the Cardassians should be doing.

Also for whatever reason the Jurassic movies like to ignore the fact that guns are really good at killing; this is true even if your prey is a giant prehistoric maneater.
Somebody always conveniently drops their rifle, runs out of ammo at the wrong time, or gets mauled before firing the shotgun. In reality the giant monsters would all get sniped, and pose no problems whatsoever, other than cleaning up their big carcasses.

I don't know if this is the case, I've seen real life people shooting at a bear, and unless you don't hit them in their brain or another vital spot they are still going to come at you because of their thick fat tissue under their skin. So I'd assume it takes a few shots to bring down a massive dinosaur, which is twenty times bigger than a bear, unless you hit them in a vital spot.
I agree with you that the Jurassic Park security is a fucking joke, especially for a guy who said that he "spared not expenses" about twenty times.

you joke, but I've heard this excuse being made. The thing is tho, Amanda was a massive Vulcanboo. Yeah, she wants Spock to not be ashamed of his human heritage, but she still praised the Vulcan way of life and even said it was in some ways better than the human way. Amanda only wanted that green dick and the half-breed goblin babies said dick would give her, not some human nigger Sarek randomly found under some rubble.
Thinking about Michael just makes me more and more annoyed. I don't understand how anyone can look at her character and say she isn't a Mary Sue (in a fandom that created the concept as well!) and I don't even like to throw the accusation around lightly.

>The whole raised by Vulcans thing is really dumb too.
I agree. It's wrong on many levels. Vulcans would never accept a human in their academy, not at the time anyways. She even finished first of her promotion.
I really hate that she's raised by Sarek and his wife. It's a bad retcon that gives an impression that Sarek prefers Michael over his own biological child.

brilliant choice of words since her outward appearance is literally that of "living shit". Black women are simply handicapped in this regard. Most have to have a lot of work done to make them tranny-tier in their femininity. It's just a consequence of a large portion of your genes being derived from people who evolved under unfortunate conditions. The entire character of Tilly is a love letter to this, since an ugly, spergy white chick helps Mike to shine in comparison and is non-threatening / validating to the target audience.

Yes and yes. The sad part is that they also fucked up the klingon language. I thought that the Klingon make-up and prosthetics made the actors speak like retards but nope. Even in "human form" the guy speaks klingon in a weird way like if he has a hot potato in his mouth.

While the brain of a trex is large compared to other dinosaurs, it is still a small target for a rifleman to hit especially in a high stress situation- the lungs and heart would make fairly decent targets. A .44 magnum would probably do the trick at close range- it would still have enough juice to kill you before it died most likely.
Now- at range a shooter with a 338 lapua mag or if you want to be extra cool a 50 bmg would be a good choice for a heart and lung shot- or even a CAN hit. With good optics and position a shot in the brain case through the sinuses could be achieved with relative ease. For close range work I would recommend a 50 bmg vehicle mounted weapon

I agree. Star Trek is about a group of people. There's no "discovery" or character development in STD when one character is the center of the attention while the whole crew spend the entire season praising her.

>Amanda only wanted that green dick and the half-breed goblin babies said dick would give her, not some human nigger Sarek randomly found under some rubble.
Not that i'm interested in fixing their fucked-up show for them, but it would be funny if Sarek and Amanda were into some kind of advanced, Vulcan S&M where Sarek is expected to never stop finding subtle, passive-aggressive ways to bully and emotionally torture Amanda (which she loves). Being Vulcan, they cannot do this explicitly or with betraying any emotion. One of their fetish scenarios involved her expressing the desire to adopt a human son, going to great lengths to describe to him the purity and wholesomeness of her one wish, in her detestable human ways, all-the-while fumbling at convincing Sarek of it's "logic", much to his disgust. Meanwhile, secretly, Amanda would be aroused when contemplating in what ways Sarek might deny and crush her feelings and violate the purity of her dream (all while doing so with exquisite Vulcan restraint and 'logic'). Ultimately, Sarek brings home a traumatized, human negro female with a boy's name and forces Amanda to raise it. The lengths Sarek went to resolve the scenario and it's deep and lasting significance to their lives served as an everlasting token of the love and devotion Sarek could never express openly. She would never doubt that he loved her. Battered women have bruises, but bruises heal. Nigger Mike represented a permanent "bruise" that would never fade, a shame that would bring them both closer. In the wake of the adoption, new vistas opened to them. infinite diversity would remain a cherished Vulcan value, but a very particular kind of "diversity" would be increasingly celebrated between Sarek and Amanda from that point forward. A new, addictive form of bonding became a hungry desire that no mere nappy-headed toddler would satisfy.

The ride never ends
>This morning CBS announced they have extended Star Trek: Discovery executive producer Alex Kurtzman’s agreement with an exclusive deal through to 2023. The new deal with Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout production company will include Kurtzman, who just took over as Discovery’s showrunner, supervising what CBS is calling an expansion of the Star Trek franchise for television.
>Kurtzman’s 5-year mission
>According to CBS, Kurtzman will be developing new Star Trek series, mini-series and other content opportunities, including animation. In addition to Star Trek, Kurtzman and an expanded Secret Hideout under president Heather Kadin will develop new, original series across the full spectrum of broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
>Multiple shows in development
>The official announcement did not go into detail on what possible additional Star Trek content is in the works, but Variety reports some of the potential projects include the following:
>A series set at Starfleet Academy from creators Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz. The duo most recently developed the CW’s reboot of Dynasty and previously created shows like Gossip Girl and Hulu and Marvel’s Runaways.
>A limited series whose plot details are being kept under wraps.
>A limited series based around the “Wrath of Khan” story. Khan’s full name is Khan Noonien Singh. He was famously portrayed by Ricardo Montalbán in both the original series episode “Space Seed” and again in the film Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. Benedict Cumberbatch then played the character in the 2013 film Star Trek Into Darkness.

> But disruption and discontent is not new to the world of Roseanne. The show’s original nine-season run was filled with truly bizarre behind the scenes stories, leaked by frustrated writers and crew.
> Known in shorthand as “Who Jackie,” it’s a story that demonstrates just how chaotic life could be for those working on the show.
> As Macdonald tells it, one such hire was a mysterious man named David who was clearly out of his depth in the writing room and so stayed largely silent as the rest of the writers workshopped ideas and hashed out jokes each day.
> Until one day, David spoke up with a story idea, much to the surprise of everyone else in the room.
> “What if Dan came home and found Roseanne washing her big ass in the sink. But the thing is, it ain’t Roseanne, it’s Roseanne’s twin sister!” Macdonald recalled him as saying.
> As the story goes, the bizarre idea hung in the air for a few seconds until one of the other writers tried to let David down gently: Sounds funny, they told him, but … Roseanne already has a sister, Jackie.
> And then, from David, two words that would live on in infamy:
> “WHO JACKIE?”

How likely is it that STD will have a Season 3? Season 1 was a flop, and while these lefty types tend to keep virtue-signalling long after it's stopped being profitable, they can only go so long before running completely out of money.

I dunno. I'd say it'd 86 sooner or later but it seems Hollywood cares more about stroking off about how wonderful it is that they are a bunch of unimaginative creeps rather than put out any compelling content that makes money. As far as CBS there's no way they are going to get people to keep coming back to their crap online service, especially when that sector is heating up. If Disney/Fox goes through does anyone really imagine someone's going to stick around on All Access for a beyond crap reboot with nothing else going for them, or give the Mouse cash for Captain America 39 - and "24" reruns - instead?

Complaining about STD feels a lot like complaining about an ad campaign. Like, how long until Dos Equis fires that ironic hipster jew looking Most Interesting Man in the World and goes back to a somewhat more serious and charismatic older spic Most Interesting Man in the World?
Nobody seems to be able to make sense of the whole weird arrangement with CBS & Netflix and streaming only apart from the well-known conspiracy theories about licensing. What makes the most sense to me, though, is that it isn't really a traditional tv show at all. Rather, it's an elaborate, insanely expensive promotional campaign that when it's all said and done will just happen to have 30-50 hrs of scripted drama that goes along with it.
I don't mean just an ad campaign, either. I mean, it was intended to get people talking about CBS All Access by hiding it inside a famous IP that could easily be stoked for hype. The more controversy the better, so they intentionally made it to piss us off. As far as they're concerned, we pirate all our shit anyway so we're not their audience so fuck us. But, the point is i dont think they expected or cared if anyone actually watched the goddamn show since they knew it would be streaming and thus not subject to traditional ratings. They just used it to get hype and my guess is they'll discard it after 30-50 episodes (2 to 3 years total) since it will be following the rules of ad campaigns, not long-running tv series.

The thing is it's a failed ad campaign. CBS has been conspicuously silent on the success of All Access; they praise it as a success, but never release any numbers to illustrate this success, just vague statements about it "exceeding expectations," or that the numbers are "promising." And how long do you run an ad campaign that isn't doing its job?

To me, STD got a second season for the only reason that it's the flagship of All-Access (they wanted a big IP to launch it) and it would've sent a wrong message if they had cancelled it during the first season. Based on the rumors about Netflix having refused to pay for season 2, I bet that the budget took a hit too so I doubt the show will have a third season.

Robert Duncan McNeill Explains Why He Won’t Be Directing ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 2
>McNeill talks about his experiences directing for Voyager and Enterprise, but he also explains why he won’t be directing for the latest Star Trek show, or at least for now.
>Wanted to direct Discovery, but series was seeking more diversity
>When asked if he would be interested in directing for Star Trek: Discovery, McNeill revealed he had a meeting with a producer from the show to talk about exactly that:
>I wanted to direct Discovery. I met with their producing director. I didn’t know the show that well, but I met with him on their last hiatus to talk about season two. I also produce now. So, I hire a lot of directors. The last few years, there’s been a seismic shift in terms of the priorities toward female and diverse directors. That reality now has meant that what used to be normal, which was a lot of white guys, to be quite honest, has changed. Some shows are mostly women directing. I think Jessica Jones, last year, had all female directors. Handmaid’s Tale. A woman may direct the next Star Trek movie. Most importantly, it’s a wonderful thing that’s happening. I’m proud that on other shows I’ve produced — The Gifted, The Arrangement, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce — I’ve brought in female directors. But, to answer your question, Discovery does a limited number of episodes and a priority there is to get female and diverse directors, so there are fewer opportunities for people like me, which is a great thing. But, yeah, if the opportunity arose to direct Discovery and I fit what they needed and it fit my schedule, I’d love to do it.

More convinced than ever this is an officially licensed product, not an actual Star Trek series. Conspiracy Theory 2.0 may be correct in that nobody actually owns the right to TOS-TNG era Star Trek and that those rights got locked in limbo when Viacom split. Both CBS and Paramount are making their own nuTreks that are legally required to be visually distinct from the original.
I actually feel bad for all the fan sites and projects that are trying to be gud bois and reconcile STD and JJ Trek and bring them in-line with the originals. Somebody is eventually going to end up with the classic TV and film rights and isn't gonna give a fuck about SJW shit either and just wants to make money and they're basically going to explain that nuTrek isn't real Trek. A lot of cuck sites and gud boi fans are going to be embarassed like boomers who wore bell bottoms in the 70's.

Why? they're literally still just the STD suit and everything bad about those, but now colored in a way that makes no fucking sense for the designs *besides* to look vaguely like TOS outfits. It looks like if someone took a STD
action figure and did a lazy homemade fan repaint on them except this is somehow actually in the show.
They should have at lease used more of The Cage outfits as a basis than theTOS, so that they're mostly seen wearing blue, more military like coats but with the colored shirts under them, then transition that to being the more colorful outfits as the show goes on and the federation tries to return to a more peaceful state…

Understandably, they can't isolate every plot point so it would probably be best if absolutely all content was tagged so that it can be instantly and completely filtered by the user according to what series or episode they haven't seen yet. All commenting on STD and nuTrek will be subject to deletion to avoid spoiling the series for new fans. I mean… some of these events in DISC take 10-20 hours of viewing to build-up to. DISC is such an Important™show and really is the kind of series we need And That's a Good Thing™so it really deserves to be protected by not allowing the trolls to win by spoiling it.

speaking to starfleet uniforms in general, the colors have always been more injurious to canon than the actual uniforms themselves. You can retcon a lot of the uniform design fuckery as there being many different uniforms in use simultaneously and it being the commanding officer's prerogative what specific uniform or variant their crew is permitted to wear. In that sense, it's one of the few things STD does that would be actually helpful to canon (if this were an actual Star Trek series).
The colors are hopelessly fucked, though. You could almost make sense of it as there being a change once between TOS and WoK and then again before TNG, but TMP completely throws a wrench into it.
We're better off rationalizing a system that doesn't screw with the franchise too much and then actually going-in and color-correcting the uniforms digitally where it needs to be fixed.

>You could almost make sense of it as there being a change once between TOS and WoK and then again before TNG, but TMP completely throws a wrench into it.
Well, I don't have as much of a problem with that in that they were only used very briefly. The uniforms for that film look horrible and seem poor to function, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were replaced in a crash course. It's not the first time a military has adopted some lemon equipment or attire and then desperately tried to find a replacement immediately afterwards. Look at arms procurement in the late 19th century in some countries. For what it's worth, WOK's uniforms and color scheme remained in force with minor changes for the better part of 70 years.
I have a lot more problem along your lines, however, with the TNG era and afterwards. We see, from 2350 to 2380, a change from WOK to TNG (which got modified to a new model after a few years), and then TNG to DS9. To make matters worse you see a new uniform later in DS9! Some episodes you can see TNG, early DS9 and/or late DS9 clothing mixed together at the same time, without rhyme or reason. Now THAT'S sloppy.

yeah, there's an obvious IRL reason for the tng colors in that they were unhappy with how Stewart and Spiner looked in the TOS colors, which they originally were going to revert to. I posted this autism in the uniform thread, but pretty much every uniform except for the TNG uniforms and about half the TMP uniforms are some variation of jacket over turtleneck or basic shirt over slacks and in the case of the TOS shirts, they started out as turtlenecks. Apart from the TNG uniforms, every series and film can be brought pretty close to a jacket-over-turtleneck standard with relatively minor retrofitting.
In the case of TNG, nearly all of it would have to be scrapped and retconned to the later movie jackets (except that one uniform variant that Picard wore in later seasons), in my estimation. The problem with the TNG uniforms is that they are a result of numerous attempts to fix another of Gene's excesses by small changes when they should have been course-corrected completely as we saw with the TMP-WoK uniform changes.
I've been toying with what to do about the colors as they are problematic on a much deeper level, as it subverts the notion of Starfleet being a strong organization with traditions, which tend to persist in uniformed, armed services - to put it mildly. My current thinking is that red does not actually denote any branch or department or collection of branches… it's just the standard, basic Starfleet color, much like blue was the basic color during ENT. After all, why would engineering and security wear the same colors? According to this autism, they don't. It's just that on Kirk's Enterprise during TOS, they weren't wearing their dept. colors at all… they were just wearing basic Starfleet red shirts.
Similarly, during TNG, so many officers wore red not because they were "command" officers (Geordi and Worf were both junior officers in wine red and Wesley was even a field-commissioned ensign wearing red!). They wore red because it's just the 'generic' uniform and during TOS and TNG, department colors were not universally mandated. The WoK uniforms even use red to denote trainees (granted, it's a brighter red) who have no department assignment or speciality earned. The actual command color is white but you can imagine why majority-white uniforms might not be hugely popular and commanders might opt for something else if it's at their discretion. Also, it should be noted that "command" is not an actual department, but rather it denotes a qualification. That's why Scotty is seen wearing the white shirt many times after WoK. He also wears the mustard yellow that is the actual Engineering color and remains as such from The Cage through Nemesis and beyond.

I like that explanation, however I think red for command and blue for science should be the default. It's been shown that people with a commanding personality, who are good at taking charge and giving orders, tend to have red as their favorite color. Logically minded, methodical people on the other hand tend to have blue as their favorite color. I'm not sure if the costume department was aware of this but I think it's an interesting tidbit and worth keeping.

I like the idea of medical being all white, and blue is just science. Strictly speaking you want you medics to be clearly visually separated from your other crew. And white seems to have "non combat" meanings even for the other ST races. Also science really should have a much larger proportion on the later day fed ships than the shows ever seem to put on there. They always made the size of security personnel on every ship seem crazy bloated huge even by standards of modern nav ships, and those things are pure weapons of war with none of the peace mission pretense.

If you wanted to be really anal-retentive about it, you'd note that the division of the Departments themselves is screwy as well. Going on the system used by the U.S. Navy, there should be four:
>Administration – the command staff, the ship's yeoman as well as any logistics officers, and the ship's doctor
>Operations – navigators, pilots, communications, sensors, as well as any mission specialists or science officers
>Engineering – self explanatory
>Weapons – including security, tactical, gunners, et al

no more than they have an explanation for why all the characters are scaled-down to midget size relative to their environment. It's just a game. KDF have it easier, and its a bit more lore friendly uniform wise over there anyway, overall the KDF is a bit more ragtag/mixed force in-game so a wide degree of freedom is quite appropriate.
Still, there's enough uniform choices over at Club Fed you can get some very fetching results on that end as well. I actually had a few nice setups for female uniforms over the years, which changed as new clothes came out.
>They at least had the balls to give the game a breast size slider in current year
It wasn't CURRENT YEAR when the game was first released, but it was getting there. That said breasts are important but I was very particular with the upper torso in general; big tits are great but for maximum effect you need the whole package down pat.

Err no? Klingons on the surface appear like savage brutes but they are anything but. They are calculated, cunning, methodical warriors who are skillful and adaptive to pretty much any situation. If you think Klingons are simple you've never watched Star Trek let alone any Klingon episode.
They can be bloodthirsty one minute but then show remarkable patience the next. There's heavy emphasis on learning and being prepared. The Klingons have a fearsum reputation because they get shit done above all else.
This is where STD went heavily wrong with them. They tried to write them as 1 dimensional brutes when even in TOS that was nowhere close to the case. Klingons are by far one of the most complex races in Star Trek.

It's true that if someone makes it big with say a popular tv series, they can be just as well known as a "movie star", maybe more nowadays. But there is still that hierarchy that most of these fucks wants to be in movies. For them that's when they know they truly "made it".
>Hell Quinto used to be on TV, so I can't imagine a fifteen minute guest appearance could hurt them that much.
Might be the other way around, those who got into a movie gig may smell the stench and don't want the stink on them. Or they don't want to be seen "slumming it" back to tv.

I think they had chemical based "food 3d printers" that could produce simple meals and raw ingredients that could be prepared into more elaborate food products even in the TOS. All replicators added were ships only needing energy to produce the food (and the ability to make much more complicated meals), instead of storing large amounts of base materials for the food dispensers to work with.
Granted, I think STD did show some sort of fucking energy to matter replication in the first season

I swear, I hate Discovery for so many reasons.
The characters are one-dimensional and it seems to me that these companies are only using this whole feminism/social justice thing to try to catch that fabled "New Demographic" to sell crap to. Not to mention also using it as a excuse to write badly written stories and using nepotism to hire bad writers that haven't even written any sci-fi or even know about Star Trek.
I also have a feeling that CBS and many of the directors and CEOs don't want to admit that Discovery is a failure, because if they did, they would be out of a job. This has everything to do with ego and narcissism.
And I myself am a left-winger, a more old-school labor left-winger. So that is really saying something about nuTrek.
This is why Copyright needs to be reformed or completely torn up and everything put in the public domain.
If only Gene had the foresight to put in a clause to have Star Trek released into in the Public Domain 10 years after his death, we wouldn't even have Discovery to worry about.
Hell, I could have written a better Star Trek show, even like a Klingon Mini-Series dealing with the politics of the High Council and the Houses.

Gene being a commie is a meme. The guy added a chorus over the TOS main theme so he would earn the same rights as the composer.
>CBS and many of the directors and CEOs don't want to admit that Discovery is a failure, because if they did, they would be out of a job. This has everything to do with ego and narcissism.
The first season of STD was a huge failure but since it's the main appeal of the streaming service they couldn't cancel it after the first season, not because of narcissism but because it would've been a bad PR decision. That's also why they refuse to reveal the numbers of subscribers.

Not to mention that I have always felt that SJWs are nothing but the unwitting useful idiots of corporations and the SJWs simply haven't gotten the clue that many of their fights and identities and ideas have essentially become co-opted and commodified by big corporations.
They simply got turned into yet another gullible demographic to sell crap to and they don't realize that are simply being used by corporations and once their time in the sun is over these companies will just toss them aside like yesterday's news.

Here's a secret: So are you. The largest corporations will benefit the most from increased regulations, even moreso when they're the ones writing them. There's a reason so many CEOs become "corporate liberals," and they're only too happy that you're fighting their battles for them.

Nah, fuck that shit. Copyright and patents, need to be four years, non-transferrable, registered to whoever did the actual work. Trademarks last only as long as they're in actual use, after which it's fair game. Anything more than that is corporate protectionism.

Why did they not get half-way decent actors for this show? This is fucking pathetic. It's making the worst of Terry Farrell look good. And there's nothing in that scene aside from a mention of dilithium crystals that make me even suspect it is in some way related to the Trek franchise. From TOS through ENT, you still had a certain style that they managed to uphold. And I know Berman wasn't the best writer or got along with several of his main actors, but at least he got that style.
And why the fuck is everything so fucking BLUE? It looks like shit, it makes your actors look like garbage and it reeks of nu-sci-fi.

A few minutes before the end of the episode, she tells Tilly that she is a princess and the reason she ran away from her homeworld is because she's supposed to be the new queen.

What? Does he want them to go back to the god awful first season shit where the actors are too busy trying to remember the made up gibberish they're suppose to spit out to actually try to act out their characters worth a shit?
STD made the attempt at realism by having the aliens almost exclusively talk in their own language, and Beyond tried having a more realistic universal translator that actually talked over a person's actual speech. Those both turned out to suck balls and dragged scenes down. Just accept that you need bullshit magic translators that everyone can carry for the show to work even if it breaks some fragile patchwork canon and move on. STD has enough problems to bitch about without complaining about long standing story contrivances that necessary for a trek to even function.

It's not an unreasonable expectation for an autist and fan. The problem with the Klingorcs were multifold, but one of the only things they actually did right were using the Klingon language extensively. Unfortunately, the utter retards snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by doing the hard-coded subtitles in an all-caps stylized serif font, making it tedious to read. Not sure if they ever fixed it. I gave up on the show during the mid-season break. Would seem like a trivial thing to remedy, though. Beyond that, the problem with the acting was the makeup which hinders emotional expression, not the dialogue. Acting is emotionally-rooted. Many of them see selling bad dialogue as a fun challenge. Some don't even know what the hell the backstory is or what they're characters are doing there. They're just given the script and some direction and just go from there without really understanding anything more broadly.
Universal translators are a lampshade on what really just boils down to suspension of disbelief… which everyone does and is not a big deal. The problem is when they shift back and forth. Then it tends to register and you risk breaking suspension. They should have had them do the authentic Klingon one scene and then have them switch over for most of their lines like Trek traditionally has done, or just had them stick with Klingon completely unless they were speaking English to a human, going for a more realistic approach and dropping the universal translator with the Klingons.

This 'red angel' nonsense is going to be some kind of massive temporal anomaly, or since this season is supposedly about faith vs science, some unknowable higher cosmic power that the show will pretend is a progressive and ballsy inclusion. Starfleet wants to study it, Section 31 wants to steal it. It's also going to be their vehicle to shoehorn this god awful travesty into the prime timeline with some hand-wavey bullshit.
Also along the way, hobo Spock will have his fractured male mind saved by his extra-special half-sister that he never talked about in over 50 years of Trek. Hopefully she'll sacrifice herself to restore proper order to the timeline, erasing herself from existence in the process.
