1. sculpts have shitty uv maps resulting in shitty, stretched out textures unless you know what you're doing like niramyth
2. Sculpts don't bend and therefore sculpt avatars are constantly clipping and can't even move properly
3. Sculpt avatars are wasteful geometry, since each sculpt has the same amount of polygons, regardless of its actual complexity
4. Since sculpt avatars are just many small parts stuck together, it is impossible to texture it without seams.
5. Sculpts are less flexible, its static polygon count and topology makes it impossible to create complex topology/shapes without bad normals (the way light hits your object) or seams.
6. No one outside of SL makes models like you'd make a sculpt avatar. It's a weird, SL only specific thing that should have never existed in the first place.
tl;dr Sculpts are a mess, don't use them to make avatars if you want your avatar to actually look good

Definitely too small. For an 8' tall character with the proportions you're aiming for try for about 8.5 heads tall. Maybe 9.
That meaning if you took just your head and stacked a line of them up it should take about 8.5 or 9 of them to equal your height.
You'll probably also want to lengthen your arms even if it means maxing out the arm length slider. The average adult's arm wingspan is to within 3 inches of their height. Giant proportions typically result in longer arms relative to your body.

blender is a traditional box modelling software. While it is possible to sculpt in it, it is not really optimized for that purpose. I'd also suggest you stay away from blender because it is not very intuitive and forces you to remember many key shortcuts to properly use it. That's a personal opinion though, maybe you like it.
The workflow for using ZBrush would be something like this:
Sculpt High Poly Model in ZBrush with Dynamesh -> Duplicate Model -> Retopologize one high poly model into a low poly model (you can use zremesher for that, not recommended for models you want to rig thoguh, where proper topology is needed) -> UV unwrap the low poly model (you can use ZBrush UV mastr for that)-> export model to regular 3d software of your choice for rigging/uv map fixing/further tweaks
Then
Load tweaked low poly into ZBrush (or keep working on the one you already got in it) -> subdivide it -> project details from high poly sculpt -> subdivide further / add fine details -> bake normalmap or export high poly model to bake normal map in substance painter/x-normal/whatever -> texture low poly model using the normal map

Took a snoke mod and pushed it further, used male mesh parts and altered the frill textures to give a more 'dusk-ish' look. Custom made the armor/clothing and textures underneath as male snoke has no clothing that doesn't say "I'm a huge fuccboi".

Well, I prepped this just to demonstrate that my proportions are not nearly as fucked as people think. If anything, I'd probably need to shrink the head, but nobody would notice this.
As for the specular, it uses one that tries to complement the scales as well as the body. If I sub it out, then the scales will then look drawn on, which is basically fixing one issue by breaking something else. As much as I'd like everything to be perfect, I just did what I could. This is why I'm seeking design/style related opinions and not ones based on avatar construction. There's too much I can't do myself to make everything look amazing.
I'll play with the thickness though and see if that looks any better.

Someone just needs to like, get the heads that they use in RWBY, rig those to bento and sell them. Plenty of different shapes to make use of there. Then use whatever mesh body you prefer, outfit of your choice, and then actually do whatever you can to make it stand out from the crowd.
The problem with SL animes is that you have maybe 2 solidly made heads out there, then the rest are iffy looking in varying ways.
