If your sole intention is to make as much money off the game while playing it as little as possible, you might as well throw yourself into the trash bin with thousands of other crappy SL creators. You actually need to play SL, even if just casually, to understand how to make good products. Having items from other creators is invaluable, because they introduce you to the wide variety of features available in SL.

Now if you're actually interested in playing a sandbox/virtual world game, SL is great for side cash. After getting your bearings, you can just sit alone in your skybox and make items all day. Just remember that it's a hobby- you're playing to have fun and learn skills. The cash you get is a bonus that you wouldn't make doing other things in your free time. If you don't enjoy it, it's work and it's not worth doing for the money.

Rips get you money. They also make it impossible to get to the real cash-cow levels; you'll never be invited to fairs or events. Word of mouth advertisement backfires when people realize your shit is ripped, and because you own none of your content, you will lose your business if someone puts the same mesh up for cheaper. Also, you might need to keep taking down and putting up products every time someone leaves a 1-star review that you have (and you really have) swindled them with a ripped item.

I don't want to sound like a naggy TOS-cock-sucking prick but there are some disadvantages to running a rip store you should think about first.
