I've been contemplating over some of the rules so here's updated versions.
1. No pre existing characters. This applies to both rping as naruto as well as another ninja from their village. things like squidkids and pokemon trainers are also out.
2. Prooobably gonna allow furries. thematically it kinda bugs me so anime still strongly encouraged, but i cant be fucked to play avatar police when there are so many shithead anime's out there too
3. No weapons. Use your fists if you need to fight but its generally not encouraged. I'm thinking also no death without express permission and an idea of the rp reasons why you want to. "I'm just done with this character" is not a good enough reason.
4. no loli's. duh No shota's either.
5. this is a public sim. if you lewd in public then dont get all bent out of shape when people cam you. That said, i think you should probably ask permission before barging in on two people lewding unless they're in like, the bathroom or something.
6. Fit with the sim. If you wander around in a skintight latex bodysuit, expect people to treat you like a lunatic IC.
At the moment i'm thinking people will just write up their characters in a pick on their profile. you can wander around with em before they're approved, just dont cause drama. reviewing them will mostly be to root out MC wannabe's and edgelords.
For the most part the sim will be low fantasy but androids will exist at about persocom level of unusualness.
ghosts are probably also gonna be allowed with people's spiritual awareness fluctuating. think dusk maiden or re-kan.

the problem is that when i look at HH, its not overrun with furries, its just overrun with bad rpers in general (in addition to its myriad management problems). I dont think the sim is any better off having an exclusively anime population if they end up going "hey bby *smiles*" anyway.
One thing i've been thinking about as an experiment is completely open ban records. put them in the library in NC's or something but make it so that everyone can look up exactly why so and so was banned or warned or whatever. I figure that kind of openness will really differentiate us from HH... or destroy everything, who knows!

I think the point behind it being explicitly OOC is so that everyone knows exactly why people were banned so it gives less room for banned people to start going "Oh I got banned because admin just didn't like me" or some shit like that. Less rumors, less drama, and the admins don't have to explain themselves to anyone "intervening" on someone's behalf, because they already explained it in the record.
It gives the admins a more visible appearance of being active in their duties, and from the trends in the ban log, it gives them the appearance of fairness as well. It says "No really we're not joking, don't do this shit". It's like a kid-friendly version of heads on pikes.
If it's treated as IC, then it can be misconstrued. The facts get blurred and people start to take it personally. That's where the drama comes in.

so i've been puzzling about what exactly the school should "be". Elite academy is a nice idea but it discludes a lot of character types. I'm thinking more now that it might be a school with an illustrious reputation, but the reality is something closer to a community college. maybe the place is down on its luck and had to lower entrance requirements, i dunno.
I'm also concerned about avoiding HH's trap of being a highschool dressed up as a university since that'll hopefully force people to be less of shrinking violet "p-p-penis" types.

EG: You cannot be Goku, nor can you be a saiyan at all. An orc is okay since they are generic fantasy, a moogle is not.
2. Anime heads are obviously encouraged for thematic consistency but every (non-macro) avatar is welcome. Furries are A-Ok but please keep the theme of the sim in mind. We are rural japan. If you wander around in neon raver pants, expect people to treat you like you are wandering around rural japan in neon raver pants (aka: a Fucking lunatic)
3. No weapons. Fistfights are fine but nobody should end up hospitalized ever. There are a million and one sims out there to beat each other to death, this aint one of em. No Character deaths either, no exceptions (playing undead or ghostly characters is a-okay)
4. No loli's. Duh. No shota's either. There are no fixed height requirements but mods may step in and tell you to change if you look dangerously underage. This is the one thing Linden labs does not fuck around with and neither do we.
5. No edgelords. The sim has like a lighthearted atmosphere, so excessively dark characters, motives, and storylines will be nixed. Think azumanga daioh or nichijou, not tokyo ghoul or whatever this seasons ultra grimdark super cereal anime is.

Its very simple. Come up with a character, create a pick with a short bio of the character... And you're done. go rp with them.
Management will occasionally peruse them but unless you broke one of the above rules or your character is just hella stupid, you're good to go.
===Social Norms==========Rules that are mostly IC. you can break them but dont go nuts or people will bitch about you to the mods=
1. Pants. Nobody wants to wear pants, that's just how the world works. Streaking is a fine hobby, maybe losing your top at the beach, but no full time nudists please.

I think it's primarily due to the fact that SL isn't entirely off-limits to children under legal age, and such users will often times will use a persona very close to their authentic selves, and therefore for every realistic-looking child avatar (that is, not half-dog or huge-hipped fairy or what-have-you), there's the potential that the user is no older than how the avatar appears.
That being said though, I think SL as a whole should absolutely be off limits to kids considering the reputation it's never going to be able to erase by now. No point in damage control anymore, just go full tilt into the lewd.

Looks good! So how does it work? There are so many buildings and stuff. Do you enter into the onsen area via the corner building, and then walk to one house if you're male and one if you're female, and then go from there? I like the layout. as someone who's taught HH classes, I dont think it is. by an hour in, most of the class has long since checked out, leaving you to lecture to a bunch of afkers and maybe one or two people who comment if you're lucky.
In the case of really "hands on classes" that require a lot of interaction, those are gonna get folded into clubs.
my hope is for classes to be short interesting lectures about history or theory, whereas things like art or athletics get folded into clubs.
