There's a lot of sims you can shoot stuff on, but each one has their own 'combat system' like VICE or MCE. The only exception to this is LL damage combat, and there's a few regions for that.

Sometimes I ask that question myself.
In a normal setting, as long as people keep things optimal, as in, not sending in a billion bullets at once, things are usually pretty fine with little to no lagspikes. But when people start to do trashy things, usually involving vehicles like a tank that shoots said billions of bullets, that's when it begins to lag. SL barely is able to tolerate that kind of resource-hog, you're correct.
I think why SLMC is appealing to the people it does appeal to is because of the vast amounts of customizability you have available. From the sim design, to its layout, to your armor and the guns you have available. Whether you're independent or part of a group, you got a lot of things available to touch. The flexibility allows for all sorts of unique things to happen to an extent, until lord lagalot intervenes. SL combat is not known for being good as a "game" with proper network speeds, but moreso for that mentioned customizability. What >>20047 mentioned could even happen, but that would be at the cost of most likely, a crapton of lag. Perhaps with a more proper engine and some proper scripts, someone could make the perfect customizable combat game. No other games allow you to run around as some wacky wavey inflatible flailing tube man that suicide-bombs nearby avatars without any need to download "mods" or whatever because you immediately get the content of all the textures and models and sounds people upload right away.
Unfortunately, that amount of customizability tends to lead to a lot of disagreements, sometimes (or often) leading to drama, because there's people who want it this way and there's others who want it another way. There's also the usual malicious aspects of SL, copybotters and whatnot, which I'll agree should be taken seriously. Otherwise, there's people not focusing on pew pew but rather some q q. Lately it's conspiracy theories or whatever. To those I say involved in that crap, go play a real game if that matters more than spewing prim bullets for fun.

That depends, there's currently 2 Chaoses right now.
Chaos Indivisvm is lead by Hadet Sonnekern and his council of Apostles, though he's the social face of the group. Indivisvm is themed around the Vraksian Traitor Guard and most of their gear has a worn out recently stolen traitor PDF look to it, they have lots of content which is practically just as IG as it is Chaos, though they have Chaos stuff too. Notably, Chaos Indivisvm rejects all applications from anyone they deem as furries due to their longstanding feud with them, the reasoning behind this is debatable, but it works so far.
Then there is Chaos Decretum, lead singularly by Darksleepur renowned for being the original founder of the Chaos groups. His group is more themed around the Blood Pact as depicted by Torture Device, though it happily takes it a bit further, less concerned about being canonically accurate and more concerned about being crazy, their gear is visibly more ornate and chaos themed than Indivisvm's. While Decretum arguably has very low entry requirements, it's still a Chaos group, and treats others and itself accordingly, it also relies more on outside developers for it's assets than Indivism's in house dev team, but it's gear still looks pretty good.
There are other 40k themed groups, including smaller fledgling groups, and large groups with only vaguely 40k related stuff, but know if you're getting into either Chaos group, you can't be a thin skinned baby manchild, and will be expected to do your part.

Definitely still laughed at. Creepy hyperfur shit aside, their sim build is one-sided as fuck, they love to spam mines and they've got a ridiculously fuckhuge armory but half of it looks identical for some reason.
Still, I've had some surprisingly good experiences with them lately. Their OICs appear to be cooperative so long as you're not giving them shit and they seem mostly well behaved on outbound raids. They use a graduated equipment escalation system, so if you can avoid tripping a retarded level of auth they can make a fun fight. They do still like to rules-lawyer and the ruleset itself looks like it was written in crayon, but admittedly people who get banned are usually pulling stupid shit that warrants it. At least its not a billion pages long this time.
I found out that like Coercion's, there is a trick to beating their sim build. Only throw enough people at the red/blue objectives to keep their attention on it, then work your way around their sim clockwise from green->purple->orange. Red and blue should be the last objectives you gun for because they're the easiest to hold, so spread their line a bit thin before pushing on them.
