I really love Shriow's ornate fashion design. Things like that eyepatch; ridiculous and lovely. It not only is visually striking but it's a nice indication of how different that society is to ours.

This raises a few questions. The eye patch in question is rather cool looking. Somewhat ornate and stylish.
1. Deunan as far as I have read has little to no skill at tailoring. Sure she could probably darn and repair clothes, but she is unlikely to have a flair for fashion design and making her own accessories (though perhaps she did make that little Briareos doll she is sometimes seen with…). This means that she must have bought this somehwere.
2. As above while Deunan has shown some good fashion sense, she's not exactly a designer. So the chances of her commissioning and sketching out what she wanted for her fancy, La belle epoch looking accessory eyepatch are also quite small. So this means that she most likely went out to a shop which sold fashionable stylish eyepatches, most likely in a variety of styles, colours, materials, etc.
This raises the question of what exactly is the fashion market for eyepatches like in Olympus? It's not a necessity, Deunan got a perfectly good eyepatch already, so she had to go out of her way to get this one. Is this a boutique? A specialist shop? It's written before the internt was a thing so she had to go out and get it. Or does every department shop in Olympus carry a fetching range of eyepatches in the modern fashion for the discerning lady? Who's designing these things? What other styles do they come in?
It's a bit strange, isn't it?
