Would anons be willing to share their knowledge and experience on the various fansubbing groups out there?

I've usually saved fansubs exclusively for my favorite shows, while everything else gets the HS treatment out of convenience. Recently, however, I've started thinking that I should steer away from this mode of operation and focus on finding some quality alternatives for seasonal shit.

Which ones are known for top quality releases? Which ones should we steer clear of? Are "reviews" of fansubs reliable (I've read a few of these before to help me decide which torrent to download.)?

Any information is appreciated. Perhaps we can make an info-graphic or something, I saw nothing about this subject on the /a/ wiki.

All I can say is that GJM delivered some top quality Urara, so I think they might be good.

Usually if a group is releasing weekly alongside HS but a few days later, they are better than HS. They basically make small corrections (or none at all) to the crunchyroll subs and they take the video source from somewhere else (either TV or some foreign streaming service).

Asenshi, Doki, GJM are ones I can recommend. At the same time, I don't really give a shit and always get HS because they are faster and I don't feel like the improvement is worth waiting a few more days to watch the episode.

Try to steer away from commie, FFF, Vivid,… basically if the dialogue contains too many cursing, internet slangs/jokes/memes, you should start being wary of it. Though these days commie sometimes just rips stuff without making any "funny" modifications (like Fune wo Amu), I still feel like downloading them is like a Russian roulette.

Where are these reviews from? Either way I don't think they'd be good anyway, because a lot of people don't mind, and sometimes even like, when the translator has some "fun" with the script.
