Vaping is the most RATIONAL and OPTIMIZED way to get nicotine, a cheap and effective nootropic, into your system.
Culturally, vaping would have been totally fine but the tobacco industry planted the idea of the loser vape subculture.
It's just too perfectly untouchable to be an accident.

I smoke, cancer is genetic / hyperstitional anyway. That said, is vaping really better? I would try it if they sold pure nicotine liquid and not some foul mix of nicotine, perfume and probably poison.

Imagine being such a loser that you concoct a conspiracy theory about The Man to explain how pathetic you are.

Smoking tobacco has a greater utility than vaping or non-smoking since the lung damage and increased likelihood of cancer causes you to die younger, reducing the net utility you cost those around you through pensions and old age care.
Before someone compares this to euthanasia, the entire point is that it is voluntary and self-inflicted.

What about Swedish snus? (not dip, it's different in some obscure but apparently important way, steam-cured vs fire-cured or something)

It gives you mouth cancer instead of lung cancer.

Why vaping and not nicotine patches?

Because being obtrusive and annoying is much more RATIONAL and OPTIMISED, presumably.

Source? This is from the wikipedia page:
>In a comprehensive review of all reports from previous years, one study noted "The use of moist snuff and chewing tobacco imposes minimal risks for cancers of the oral cavity and other upper respiratory sites, with relative risks ranging from 0.6 to 1.7."[4] SEER, the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results program of the National Cancer Institute, noted in 2012 that there were 3.6 cases of oral cancer among 100,000 smokeless tobacco users each year, the same rate seen in non-exposed men.
Which makes sense. Chewing on plants is pretty natural for humans. As opposed to inhaling plant smoke, which is full of dangerous shit and small particles.

Haven't tried either nicotine patches or vaping but since patches are sold as a health treatment my assumption is that they're way overpriced compared to vaping. Am I right? Asking from Australia but answers from other places welcome.

IMO nicotine tablets are your best bet if you want to abuse nicotine as a nootropic or stimulant because they're the second cheapest form of nicotine and in Australia they're over the counter.
(liquid nicotine is cheaper but last I heard it wasn't exactly legal in Australia)
