Half the comments on "Book Review: The Hungry Brain" are debating snack foods.

The other half are about how biology is like, just so complicated, it's basically impossible to be skinny, isn't science neat?

What's the median BMI of an SSC poster, 35?

There's nothing wrong with being fat, some cultures even embrace it.

If people are becoming genetically monstrous creatures without self-control or even basic systems like burning excess calories unconsciously things are worse than I thought. Scott saying this will be very good because we'll finally give fat people a break is funny. Shaming and trying to get them to take action is the actual break, conditional on us believing there are chances of improvement.

Considering they are all unfuckable messes, probably pretty high.

I find weight control pretty easy. If I go to the bakery every friday and get donuts, pies, pastries, etc, I will gain weight. If I make myself huevos rancheros instead and do a set of 100 pushups in the morning, I lose weight.

Some slight variation in a metabolic set point may exist, but there's literally no excuse for being obese.

There are good excuses for being obese. Most obese people don't have good ones.

God, it's like they didn't even read the post!

Level 0 contrarianism is Calories In Calories Out. Level 1 contrarianism is the damaged set-point model.

You guys are all stuck on level 0, not even level 2. Git gud.

>Not fat, not hungry, eat as much as I want of tasty food. Genetic privilege really does exist and we skinny people are not all going about counting calories or refusing to eat Skittles.

>we skinny people

Please, by Tumblr standards, perhaps.

my height and weight is one of those combos that puts me as underweight. feels good man, i can chase gains at the gym on my own schedule.

>>9392

whether level zero, level one, or level two contrarianism is correct depends entirely on the object level. in the case of fatties and food, level zero calories in calories out suffices.
