>SSCES is a greasemonkey script that brings crowdsourced rating and sorting to Slate Star Codex. If you've used the site, then you already know why this is necessary.

One of the worst ideas I've seen in a long time.

am a programmer, tho javascript aint rilly my thing but i had a quick look. it just seems to send/receive the scores from some server, then fiddles with your page when viewing ssc to display scores. seems ok. would like some hardcore js dude to confirm tho.
in'erestin' idea, anyone tried it?

This is a bad idea and I really hope it doesn't catch on.

sometimes you need to be a little object-level

object level is the little death that brings total obliteration

it occurs to me that whoever owns that central server this thing is talking too would then also know your ip and could map ip to voting. if they also had access to the ssc logs they could then see how a particular ssc user was voting.
easy enuf to get around but still.

SSCES brings crowdsourced rating and sorting to Slate Star Codex. Slate Star Codex has nothing good with which to recompense SSCES. Downvote. Downvote. Downvote. Downvote. Downvote. Downvote. Downvote.

Am hardcore js dude, can confirm. Not exactly the most secure thing ever written; I guess they're relying on people not to game it.

Mod deleted all the posts. Someone reclaimed the board and used a bot to restore them. It was a pretty exciting time but it's over now.

No one is using this anymore so it's kind of pointless. Wish it caught on. I just don't read SSC comments. Without any voting or sorting it's just whoever happened to comment first.
Inb4 the irony of posting this on ratanon. We are a small community that gets like half a dozen comments a day at most and I can read all of them. If ratanon grew to 100s of posts a day I wouldn't use it either. I can also trust most other users will read my comments. Whereas if I post on SSC it's unlikely even a single person will ever read them, so what's the point? Also sorting by new vs sorting by old is completely different for that same reason.

You're replying to a botpost. The original was made some time last year, and was about a different glitch.
This site likes to make things disappear. But usually it's just in the static files, not in the database, so they're not permanently lost.
