Official FEC Complaint Alleges Rep. Ocasio-Cortez Laundered Money Through PAC to Provide Campaign Funds to Boyfriend
The Coolidge-Reagan Foundation filed official complaint before the Federal Election Commission on February 27 that accuses Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of laundering money through a PAC to provide campaign funds for her boyfriend Riley Roberts.
On February 15th TGP contributor Cassandra Fairbanks reported on reporter Luke Thompson’s accusations that Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) put her boyfriend on staff drawing a salary on the taxpayer’s dime. Twitter temporarily suspended Thompson for making the accusations.
Boyfriend Riley Roberts is listed in the congressional directory as staff, not as a boyfriend or spouse.
The Coolidge-Reagan Foundation accuses Ocasio-Cortez of using a PAC to pay her boyfriend. The court document accuses AOC of funneling money from her official campaign account to her boyfriend.
According to the FEC suit: Over the span of a little more than a month, AOC’s campaign committee paid just over $6,000 to Brand New Congress PAC, while its affiliated LLC turned around and paid her boyfriend $6,000. Ocasio-Cortez subsequently hired Chakrabarti, who created the entities which conducted these transactions and facilitated the transfer of Ocasio-Cortez’s official campaign funds to her boyfriend, as the Chief of Staff of her congressional office.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was hit Thursday with an ethics complaint for listing her live-in boyfriend as a staff member and getting him an official House email address.

Literally hours after we reported that Tesla was firing even more people at its Fremont, California factory – layoffs that appeared to have not been included as part of a disclosed plan – the company implemented even more significant cost-cutting efforts that have already affected employee work schedules and impacted the supply of parts used to make vehicles. As CNBC reports, Tesla is sending employees home and cutting basic inventory at its Fremont factory.
The report stated that there were several new cost reduction measures launched by Tesla, but these haven't made public.
First, the company is apparently asking employees to work remotely and keep their travel costs to a minimum.
Second, the company is telling hourly employees at its Sparks, Nevada Gigafactory, where Tesla makes batteries and drivetrains, to leave in the middle of their shifts. The company is also telling employees to take paid or unpaid time off, according to the report.
As a result, the inventory of rivets and fasteners – two main components in vehicle assembly - has reportedly been "reduced".
The latest news follow Tesla layoffs that have impacted about 8% percent of the company's employees over the last week, CNBC reported.
In its 2018 annual report, Tesla said it had 48,817 employees. Subtracting an estimated 9 percent for January’s layoffs brings that total down to 44,423 and subtracting another 8 percent — following Tesla’s move to close most stores — would put Tesla’s head count around 40,869 today.
This all comes after Tesla's late February announcement that it would close many of its retail stores and convert the remaining stores to galleries, while shifting sales to an online-only model. Elon Musk said during the company's secretive follow up conference call that he would not specify the size of the layoffs that would occur as a result of these retail stores closing. He claimed they were part of a cost-cutting effort that was put in place to help the company's $35,000 Model 3 be cost efficient.
But what is most troubling - for investors in the $50 billion market cap company - is that this recent slate of layoffs is the third such round of layoffs over the last 12 months. This follows a 9% workforce reduction in June and a 7% cut in January. One wonders if these are all just hallmarks of a "growth story" that deserves a ridiculously premium valuation.
Most puzzling of all is that this news all follows a June 2018 e-mail, where Elon Musk claimed to employees that he would never have to initiate another round of layoffs.
"I also want to emphasize that we are making this hard decision now so that we never have to do this again," Musk said in June; in retrospect, "never" has a slightly different meaning in "longville."

In the Fed's latest Flow of Funds report released at noon today, the Fed published the latest snapshot of the US "household" sector as of Dec 31, 2018. What it revealed is that with $120.4 trillion in assets and a modest $16.1 trillion in liabilities, the net worth of US households dipped to $104.3 trillion, its first drop after 12 consecutive quarters of increases, and down $3.7 trillion as a result of the near-bear market in the fourth quarter, which wiped out estimated $4 trillion in various financial assets like corporate equities, mutual and pension funds, and deposits after the market tumbled in Q4, offset by a $345 billion increase in tangible assets, of which $280 billion was in real estate values.
Total household assets in Q4 dropped 3.7 trillion to $120.4 trillion, the first drop since Q3 2015, while at the same time total liabilities, i.e., household borrowings, rose by $133 billion from $15.9 trillion to $16.1 trillion, the bulk of which was $10.3 trillion in home mortgages. Homeowners’ real estate holdings minus the change in mortgage debt rose by $223 billion (a positive number means that the value of real estate is growing at a faster pace than household mortgage debt).

The courts cannot make law which they are doing…it's a very very weird thing that troubles me. Courts are to decide cases based on precedent, not make new law…which they appear to be doing illegally.
Trump has rights regarding immigration assigned to him via the Constitution, which is, if you wish to remain a state, the ultimate law of the land….and these judges know this yet they keep making law from the bench…

Paul Manafort, political consultant and former election campaign manager for US President Donald Trump, has been sentenced to just shy of four years in prison for financial crimes. President Donald Trump is right. America needs more workers.
But if his advisers are telling him that this means America needs higher levels of immigration, they are misleading the president. America does not need to import workers. We have plenty of potential workers who were sidelined by the Great Recession and globalization.
In the first two years of the Trump presidency, America created two million jobs. The unemployment level fell to an astonishing 3.7 percent in September, the lowest level in decades, and it has averaged 4 percent over the past year.
The official unemployment rate, however, only includes Americans looking for work. It overlooks more than 90 million Americans who are officially out of the labor force. The civilian labor force participation rate is now just 63.2 percent—down from more than 66 percent prior to the Great Recession.
Even when adjusted for America’s aging workforce and more working-age Americans attending college, participation is low. Just 82.6 percent of Americans between the ages of 25 and 54 were counted in the labor force, according to the most recent figures from the Department of Labor. That’s a full percentage point lower than it was in the late 1990s, the last time unemployment was this low:
In his recent testimony on Capitol Hill, Fed chair Jerome Powell called the low level of labor force participation a “very troubling concern.”
“There are lots of people, millions of people, who are out of the labor force and in a perfect world, in a better world, would be in the labor force,” Powell said. “We want the economy to grow, and we want that prosperity to be widely spread. Labor force participation gets both of those things almost better than anything.”
President Trump knows that millions of Americans are out of work. In his first address to a joint session of Congress in February 2017, Trump said, “We must honestly acknowledge the circumstances we inherited. Ninety-four million Americans are out of the labor force.”
To be sure, since the election, we’ve made some progress in drawing Americans back into the labor force. More than 2.1 million people joined the labor force in 2018. But wage growth has lagged behind expectations and historical levels. Average hourly earnings grew 3.2 percent in 2018. After adjusting for inflation, that amounted to an increase of just 1.7 percent.
Compare that with the 4.2 percent average wage growth right back in 2001—when the workforce participation rate was higher than 66 percent.

While neither of these bills would do anything to stop gun violence, they would make it almost impossible for law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment liberties freely by entangling them in a web of bureaucracy.
H.R. 8, which was the first bill passed by the House, would impose so-called “universal” background checks on gun sales and transfers, but that’s only a facade. What the legislation really aims to do is impose complex and burdensome restrictions on what law-abiding gun owners can do with their property.
While there are many dangerous ramifications to this bill, at its core, it would criminalize private sales and transfers that occur without direct government oversight and regulation. Virtually any sale of a firearm from one American to another would become illegal without first completing a background check, and even transfers of firearms between family members and friends would be subject to complex rules that could cause even diligent gun owners to inadvertently run afoul of the law.
Currently, private gun owners are not required to identify themselves to the federal government — an important protection against a national gun registry that H.R. 8 would severely weaken.
H.R. 8 is only step one of the Democrats elaborate plan, though. H.R. 1112 is even sneakier than its sister bill, making it possible for the government to prevent law-abiding citizens from purchasing a gun even if they pass a background check.
Current law allows the FBI three days to complete a background check on someone purchasing a firearm from a registered dealer, a provision designed to protect your Second Amendment right from bureaucratic slow-walking.
The new legislation would give the FBI up to 10 business days to conduct a background check, but would require the would-be purchaser to file a petition if the timeline is not met, at which point the FBI would have an additional 10 business days to act upon the petition. As Georgia Rep. Doug Collins pointed out on the House floor, however, this timeline can stretch beyond the window of 30 calendar days during which the original background check is valid, forcing the purchaser to start the whole process over again.
H.R. 1112 removes the incentive for FBI agents to complete background checks in a timely manner, threatening to put American gun buyers into a perpetual loop of wait lines that never end.
Given that 7,043,975 background checks were performed in 2018 — or nearly 20,000 per day — one can just imagine the backlog that would ensue if authorities had so much leeway to restrict sales.
We’ve already seen how bureaucrats can abuse such discretion for political purposes, such as when IRS employees targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status with unnecessary delays.
Keep in mind, neither H.R. 8 nor H.R. 1112 would have any effect on criminals looking to do wrong, because criminals don’t go to the FBI seeking permission before buying a gun. As the Obama administration noted in a 2013 memo, the overwhelming majority of criminals who acquire firearms do so either through straw purchasers or by stealing — both of which are already illegal.
Moreover, background checks aren’t even a reliable way of preventing deranged individuals from obtaining firearms, since they can’t predict a person’s future actions. Parkland, Florida shooter Nikolas Cruz, for instance, passed a background check that allowed him to buy the gun he used to massacre 17 people.
Fortunately, Senate Republicans are certain to reject both bills, and President Trump has already vowed to veto them if they somehow reach his desk.
Still, the Democrats’ sneaky effort to undermine the Second Amendment offers a chilling preview of the agenda they would advance if they ever get control of two branches of the federal government again.

U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra granted an extension Thursday in the case involving victims of 66-year-old Jeffrey Epstein.
Marra ruled last month that former Miami U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta's prosecutors violated the victims' rights by secretly reaching a 2008 nonprosecution agreement with Epstein. Under the agreement, Epstein pleaded guilty to state charges, spent 13 months in jail, paid settlements to victims and became a registered sex offender.
Marra also had ordered the U.S. Justice Department and the victims' attorneys to suggest what to do about the violations by Friday. A new deadline hasn't been set.

Although it's easy to get caught up in the hopium at times, we are probably destined to continue our slow descent into hell until our society collapses. The problems are too big and can't be fixed - that makes the Q scenario an impossibility. It just has to play out to its natural conclusion which is civil war. That would also cause failure but maybe it wouldn't have happened if voting rights hadn't been prostituted. Who knows? Anyway, the way it's going to play out can't be changed.
