A deaf child being treated at a Damascus hospital was filmed reacting to an implant allowing him to hear for the first time. The child got the device from his donor, Syrian first lady Asma Assad, who’s been fighting breast cancer.
Asma, who is the wife of Syrian President Bashar Assad, was filmed paying a charity visit to the Damascus hospital Monday where she met families whose children suffer from hearing impairments.
The video, uploaded by the Syrian presidency’s official Twitter account, shows Asma equipping a young boy with a hearing implant. The child, who was born deaf, begins to laugh and offers thumbs up as he hears human voices clearly for the first time in his life while Asma talks to him gently. In all, ten children received the device with the first lady’s support.
The footage has been widely shared on social networks, with many praising the first lady for her charity work. A post on Asma’s Instagram page has highlighted the rehab program for children who suffer from life-long hearing impairments.
The Syrian first lady herself has recently been in need of medical help after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2018. This did not stop her from continuing her charity and humanitarian projects helping Syrian people overcome the aftermath of the war that has been devastating the country since 2011.
Asma Assad was born to Syrian parents in London, educated in the UK and moved to Syria in November 2000 shortly after meeting Bashar Assad, whom she married a month later. The couple has three children. Asma is known to have refused multiple offers of asylum, choosing to stay in war-torn Syria.

Centrist Democrat Group Urges Pelosi to End Partial Shutdown
As the partial government shutdown stretched into its 32nd day, a group of centrist House Democrat’s are calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to end the stalemate over funding for the U.S.-Mexico border wall and to offer some sort of compromise.
President Donald Trump has up until now been the only leader willing to find some middle ground. On Jan. 19, he outlined an offer which would provide temporary protection from deportation to some 700,000 young undocumented migrants known as “Dreamers” in exchange for $5.7 billion in border wall funding.
Trump’s proposal, outlined in a televised address on Jan. 19, was flatly rejected by Pelosi before he even spoke.
Rep. Elaine Luria (D-Va.), who is leading the group of centrist Democrats, urged Pelosi to offer Trump a vote on his border wall sometime in February if he ends up signing a bill to reopen the federal government.
“We know that you share our value that effective governing should not result in winners and losers, but that our job as legislators is to do the most good for the most people,” the letter (pdf) obtained by Politico stated.
“We understand that this shutdown was not caused by the 116th Congress, but it is our job to fix it,” it continued later.
Both Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have said they would not negotiate with Trump over border wall funding until he reopens the government. They said that they would be open to talks after he has done so.
In the draft letter that did not include the names of any caucus members, the caucus requested Pelosi to “immediately begin debate in committee” on the wall after the reopening of the government. Democrats say this will allow the Department of Homeland Security to detail the funds needed and present them to the president, guaranteeing a vote for the supplemental funding request on the House floor by the end of February.
Federal workers who have been furloughed will miss their second paycheck if the shutdown continues to Jan. 25. About 25 percent of the federal government is impacted by the shutdown, with some 800,000 federal works affected.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is preparing to bring up Trump’s compromise offer sometime later this week.

In filing the explosive allegations, Kathleen — who lives with the youngest of the couple’s three daughters in the capital — is seeking to limit Hunter, 47, to a $5,000-a-month allowance.
She is demanding that she and their daughters, in turn, receive a $20,000 monthly allowance.

Kathleen initiated the break-up, citing irreconcilable differences in a D.C. Court filing. Hunter was discharged from the Navy Reserve, where he had been working as a public affairs officer, in 2014 after he tested positive for cocaine. In response to Kathleen’s filing, Hunter’s lawyers demanded that she furnish any letters, emails, or other messages “between you and any person that you had a romantic or sexual relationship with other than your husband during the marriage.”
After the filing became public, Hunter Biden acknowledged that he had become involved with Hallie Biden, the widow of his brother Beau. It is unclear when the relationship between the two began. Beau Biden, the former attorney general for the Bidens’ home state of Delaware, died of brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.

Payseur also owned “Southern Power Company” which is today known as “Southern Company” and owns the control of all power companies in the united states by law that states that only railroads can manufacture electricity. Because the railroad has a monopoly at least until the 99 year leases are up.
Payseur owned “The Lancaster Manufacturing Company”, which controlled the production of all wood products, such as railroad ties, railroad cars, service poles, furniture, paper etc., etc.. Mead, Regency companies using the railroad land leased to them “only” from Payseur to product trees for wood products.

manufacture of fertilizer and other related items.
Leroy Springs was appointed President of all of Mr. Payseurs companies to oversee them, he was also Mr.
Payseurs’ attorney and a trustee for his affairs. He was trusted with all kinds of important documents, affidavits and secrets, as to who the true owners were of these companies.

Salvadoran Gang Enforcer Caught in New Migrant Caravan
Authorities in southern Mexico announced the arrest of a man described as a dangerous Salvadoran gang enforcer who was trying to blend in with the new migrant caravan bound for the United States.
Chiapas state authorities arrested a man identified only as 19-year-old Almicar Orlando “N” aka “El Junior or Hell Boy” from El Salvador, who has various warrants for murder, kidnapping, extortion, and drug charges, the attorney general’s office revealed. Salvadoran authorities labeled Almicar as a member of the 18th Street gang and tied him to various other allegations.
The arrest took place in Tapachula, Chiapas, near the border with Guatemala, as Almicar tried to enter as part of a migrant caravan. State authorities were able to work with El Salvador’s’ gang unit and other agencies to identify him and reportedly confirm his fugitive status. Chiapas state police turned Almicar over to Mexico’s National Immigration Institute for deportation.

Michigan Residents Arrested for Conspiracy to Provide Material Support to ISIS
Three residents of Lansing, Michigan, were arrested without incident Monday afternoon for conspiring to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, namely the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan charged all three in a criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The conspiracy charge is punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison.
Members of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) arrested Muse Abdikadir Muse (Muse Muse) at the Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after checking in for a flight to the first of a series of destinations on his way to Mogadishu, Somalia. Shortly thereafter, law enforcement arrested alleged coconspirators Mohamud Abdikadir Muse (Mohamud Muse), and Mohamed Salat Haji (Haji). All three defendants are naturalized U.S. citizens who were born in Kenya.
According to the complaint affidavit, Muse Muse purchased airline tickets earlier this month to travel from Grand Rapids to Mogadishu, departing on Monday, January 21, 2019. Among other support, the complaint alleged Haji and Mohamud Muse aided in the purchase of the ticket and drove Muse Muse to the Grand Rapids airport, each knowing the true purpose of the travel was for Muse Muse to join and fight for ISIS.
The complaint asserts that all three defendants pledged allegiance to ISIS through videos they recorded themselves. Muse Muse and Haji allegedly discussed with each other their desire to join ISIS, to kill non-believers, and even to potentially use a car for a martyrdom operation to run down non-believers here in the United States if they could not travel overseas to fight for ISIS. Following the arrests, federal agents executed search warrants at a residence shared by Mohamud Muse and Muse Muse.
Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, Andrew B. Birge, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, and Tim Slater, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Detroit Field Division, announced the arrests.
The public is reminded that a complaint contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The "Aix-La-Chapelle" treaty signed today between France and Germany is a backdoor which under a new privileged relation formalized by the treaty, will allow Germany to have a ==permanent== seat at the UN security council.

The goal is also to allow Germany to access nuclear weapons. Germany was barred from accessing nuclear weapons after WW2.

The federal court system is estimated to have enough funds to sustain its operations through Jan. 31, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) announced Tuesday.
The AO, an agency within the judicial branch that supports federal courts, said it has employed various various tactics to conserve funds and sustain its paid operations.

The AO said that federal courts would continue to operate under the Anti-Deficiency Act, which would cover only the most crucial tasks, if a spending bill is not signed to reopen the government by the end of the month.
Each court would determine the staff necessary to support its “mission critical work,” which would include “activities to support the exercise of the courts’ constitutional powers under Article III, specifically the resolution of cases and related services.”
The federal judiciary has continued to operate while funding for the Department of Justice (DOJ), which oversees U.S. courts, lapsed on Dec. 22 at the start of the shutdown.
Some courts, at the urging of the DOJ, have suspended or postponed civil cases involving the government, though others have refused to do so. The courts have also been encouraged to coordinate with their district’s U.S. Attorney, U.S. Marshal and Federal Protective Service to determine the staff levels necessary to maintain court operations.
The partial government shutdown entered its 32nd day on Tuesday, extending its record as the longest shutdown in U.S. history. About 800,000 federal employees have been furloughed or required to work without pay during the shutdown, with agencies including the Departments of Homeland Security, Agriculture, Treasury, Commerce, Interior and State all being shuttered, among others.
The shutdown has dragged on as the White House and congressional Democrats are at an impasse over President Trump’s demand that $5.7 billion for a border wall be included in any spending bill to reopen the government.
The Senate will vote on two bills this week, one including the funds and the other not, though it is possible neither breaks the 60-vote threshold needed to pass. The Democrat-controlled House has passed several spending bills that do not include border wall subsidies.

Regardless of one’s position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, it should be clear that a U.S. citizen like Amawi has a right to make choices for herself about what kind of hummus or olive oil she does or does not want to buy, and about what kind of political statements she wants to make through her purchases.
“This is a personal choice,” she told reporters — and she’s absolutely right.
Over the years, some people have boycotted grapes and lettuce to protest the treatment of farmworkers; others refused to travel to South Africa at the height of apartheid. Today, some people won’t invest in cigarette companies or arms manufacturers; others won’t buy from Nike because of its support for Colin Kaepernick.
As the Supreme Court has recognized, boycotts are a form of speech protected under the Constitution. That protection exists so that government cannot penalize people like Amawi because their opinions are out of step with those of the state.
The Texas law was passed in 2017 by the Republican-controlled state Legislature. It bars governmental entities from contracting with companies that boycott Israel, apparently to prevent state dollars from somehow being used to support a sanctions movement they disparage. That’s problematic on its own. But to make matters worse, “company” is defined broadly to include individual “sole proprietorship” contractors such as Amawi.
Had she signed the contract, she would have been promising not to engage in any action “intended to penalize, inflict economic harm on, or limit commercial relations with Israel, or with a person or entity doing business in Israel or in an Israel-controlled territory.” Lawmakers may have been trying to deter the state’s suppliers from taking a corporate stance against Israel, but there’s nothing in the language of the law suggesting that it does not cover a contractor’s personal behavior as well.
Instead of signing, she is now suing the school district and the Texas attorney general, arguing that the law violates the 1st Amendment’s protections on political speech and political advocacy. We hope her challenge is successful.
The Texas law is part of a bigger worldwide effort to combat the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. The highly controversial BDS campaign calls on people and companies to boycott Israel until that country ends its occupation of “all Arab lands,” ensures equal legal rights for its Arab citizens and accepts the right of Palestinian refugees to return to the former homes of their families in Israel. Some supporters of BDS accept the idea of a “two-state solution.” Others don’t, preferring a single-state solution in which Israelis and Palestinians live together in one land.
Although BDS has not so far inflicted substantial damage on the Israeli economy, the movement's increasingly high profile — especially on some college campuses — has alarmed Israelis and their supporters in the United States.

"We are not doing what is necessary to save the planet: It sounds enormous, sounds dramatic, draconian—this is real, folks. This is what scientists are telling us," Kerry said. He also said there should be the ability to take legal action against Trump for making a decision that will "cost lives." "I wish there was a lawsuit capacity that could hold people liable for such an instance decision as he has made, which will cost lives. People will die because of the president's decision," he said.

It was clearly re-instated with the attack on Libya under the Obama presidency, where it furnished almost all of the ground troops for the Atlantic Alliance. RALEIGH, N. C.—A state judge denied Republican Mark Harris’s request to be certified the winner of a disputed Congressional race, increasing the likelihood the Charlotte-based seat will remain open for months.
Mr. Harris, who held a 905-vote lead over Democrat Dan McCready in unofficial results, asked the court to certify the vote after a separate court proceeding last month disbanded the state board of elections.
Wake County Superior Court Judge Paul Ridgeway said Tuesday that a new state election board should have the opportunity to consider the results of an investigation into alleged election fraud in the district and decide what to do about it. A new election board is to be seated on Jan. 31, according to a recently passed state law.
The dispute over the last open seat in the new House of Representatives involves a tight vote, allegations of fraud and a separate battle between the GOP-led legislature and Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper over the composition of the politically appointed state elections board.
It isn’t clear when the case will be resolved. Lawyers for Mr. Harris said the 750,000 people in the Ninth Congressional District could be without representation for the two-year House term.
Lawyers for the state and for Mr. Harris said in court Tuesday that they were in a situation with scant precedent.
Alex Dale, a lawyer for Mr. Harris, said the board missed traditional deadlines for certifying the election result. The timeline shouldn’t change because of the dispute over the board’s composition and an incomplete investigation by its professional staff, he said.
“The state board knows it can’t drag this out indefinitely,” Mr. Dale said. “That’s not how representative government works.”
Marc E. Elias, an election expert who is working on behalf of Mr. McCready, said North Carolina law permits the board to take the time to get the result right.
Amar Majmundar, senior deputy attorney general who was representing the state, said Mr. Harris was leading in the vote count but hadn’t won yet. Mr. Majmundar said he was confident “the evidence will demonstrate that margin is in question,” though he didn’t specify why.
Election officials are looking at hundreds of absentee ballot requests collected by the same handful of people in Bladen County in the rural eastern part of the Ninth District. The state board said a political consultant working on behalf of the Harris campaign, Leslie McCrae Dowless, may have led an improper vote-harvesting scheme.
The state board executive director, Kim Westbrook Strach, said the board’s professional staff is preparing for a public hearing that will air evidence on alleged irregularities once a new board of elections is seated.
“We look forward to providing a full accounting of what transpired,” said Ms. Strach. “Public confidence in our elections system demands it.”

An Arizona Republican thinks she can get Trump’s wall built by imposing a tax on folks who look at porn on the web.
Republican state Rep. Gail Griffin, R-Hereford, wants to charge you $20 to look at pornography on the internet.
House Bill 2444 would require companies that make or sell electronic devices in Arizona to install software that blocks porn.
To remove the block, all you’d have to do is prove you are 18 and plunk down $20, payable to the Arizona Commerce Authority.
The money would go into a newly created account called the John McCain Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Fund, with the proceeds to be used for one of 10 things.
Don’t be fooled by the title. The legislation is merely another revenue generation scam by the state. It has nothing to do with human trafficking or child exploitation.

Is the government shutdown also Vladimir Putin's fault? Following a report released Tuesday by the FBI, we imagine it's only a matter of time before Rachel Maddow and the rest of the left-leaning cable news commentariat come to that conclusion.
In a 72-page-report and press conference, the FBI on Tuesday attacked President Trump for allowing the shutdown (now in its 32nd day) to continue and listed all the ways that break in funding for the DOJ (where the FBI is housed) has impacted its ongoing investigations (though it's worth noting that, according to media reports, the Mueller probe has continued without much of an interruption). Among the functions that have been interrupted: The US attorneys office can't issue grand jury subpoenas, ongoing investigations have been interrupted, agents are struggling to work without pay, and efforts to thwart sex trafficking and anti-gang operations (including investigations into MS-13) have been delayed.
The FBI shared a summary of these gripes in a twitter thread published by the FBI Agents Association. Though agents are still working cases, some agents are struggling to feed their families. All of this culminated with Agents Association President Tom O'Connor calling on lawmakers to pass legislation funding the FBI.
Some of the anecdotes included in the report offered more details about how the shutdown has affected investigations.
"I have been working a long-term MS-13 investigation for over three years," one FBI employee wrote in the report. "We have indicted 23 MS-13 gang members for racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering, extortion, money laundering and weapons offenses. … Since the shutdown, I have not had a Spanish speaker in the division. We have several Spanish speaking informants. We are only able to communicate using a three-way call with a linguist in another division."
Several agents claimed that, because the FBI currently cannot pay confidential informants, efforts to curb narcotics trafficking have fallen by the wayside because the bureau is "unable to do undercover" or confidential human source operations that require purchases of guns or drugs from dealers on the street.
In other words, Trump is using the shutdown to exact his revenge on the FBI…and he doesn't care whether it hampers investigations into gangs and drug traffickers.

Had some interesting thoughts come up with my continuing conversation with YorkAnon, my north UK friend.
We know FISA is tied with British intelligence. They provided lots of support for the treasonous campaign against POTUS. When that comes out, it will put the UK in a brutal spot diplomatically, where they tried to assist in the overthrow of a lawfully elected US president.
The UK government is being forced by its people to go through with Brexit, which will sever them economically from the EU. With May's deal being rejected, it looks like hard Brexit is the new order of the day.
Put that together, and potentially you have the UK divided from all its allies, and isolated. When FISAgate is exposed, its game over for the DS in the UK. This could explain why May is working so hard to kick the can down the road with brexit, because her government is about to lose all its trade and military partners.
TL;DR: theory is that FISA and brexit together destroy the DS in the UK.
