A Ukrainian drone strike has killed an employee at Russia’s Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), the facility’s press service said in a statement on Monday.
Ukrainian forces have repeatedly attacked Europe’s largest nuclear facility since it came under Russian control in 2022, soon after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict.
“Today, a driver was killed as a result of a strike by a Ukrainian Armed Forces drone on the transport shop floor of the ZNPP,” the facility said in a statement, adding that it was extending condolences to the family of the deceased.
“Nuclear industry employees should not be targets. Any attack on the ZNPP is a threat not only to people but also to security in general,” it added.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has condemned the incident.
“Director General Rafael Grossi reiterates that strikes on or near NPPs can endanger nuclear safety and must not take place,” the agency wrote in a post on X. “The IAEA’s team on the site will look into the incident and continue to monitor the situation.”
The attack came a day after Grossi visited Kiev for talks with Vladimir Zelensky, during which the Ukrainian leader urged the IAEA to pressure Russia to hand over control of the plant to Kiev.
Ukraine has repeatedly tried to interject proposals for changing the plant’s ownership into US-mediated peace talks with Russia. US President Donald Trump has also floated a number of ideas for joint control of the facility.
Moscow has firmly rejected the idea of handing over the power plant.
“Joint operation of the ZNPP with any other state is also unacceptable,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement last month.
Even giving Ukrainian or NATO representatives temporary access to the facility is “impossible,” given the close cooperation between their intelligence services and “significant sabotage potential,” it said.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A Russian drone attack before dawn on Ukraine’s southern city of Odesa wounded 14 people, including two children, authorities said Monday, in the latest barrage of civilian areas that have been a hallmark of Moscow’s full-scale invasion of its neighbor.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone strike killed two people in the Russia-occupied part of Ukraine’s southern Kherson region, Moscow-installed Gov. Vladimir Saldo said Monday. A man and a woman in their 70s died in the village of Dnipriany, he said.
In Odesa, drones hit residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure, said Serhii Lysak, the head of the city’s administration. Russia has repeatedly targeted Odesa, a key Black Sea port for Ukraine, since Moscow launched the war more than four years ago on Feb. 24, 2022.
Five of the wounded, most of them with shrapnel wounds, were hospitalized, according to Oleh Kiper, the head of the regional military administration.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that Russia has fired approximately 1,900 attack drones, nearly 1,400 powerful guided aerial bombs and around 60 missiles of various types at Ukraine over the past week.
Ukraine’s wartime development of cutting-edge military technology means that it’s intercepting more than 90% of the drones that Russia launches, Zelenskyy said in an X post.
However, Ukraine needs more American-made Patriot air defense missiles, which are able to shoot down Russia’s ballistic missiles.
Ukraine has recently been helping Middle Eastern and Gulf region countries counter attacks on their territory by Iranian drones.
Norway is the latest European country to enter into a joint drone manufacturing agreement with Kyiv, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said Monday.
In Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that his government plans to build a “drone armada” with Ukraine’s help, to defend both itself and the rest of Europe.
Zelenskyy also announced that Ukraine is massively scaling up the production of ground robots that can deliver supplies, evacuate injured soldiers and fire automatic weapons.
The uncrewed vehicles can help to ease the pressure on Ukraine’s short-handed infantry along the roughly 1,250-kilometer (770-mile) front line.
Ukraine has ordered 25,000 ground robots for this year, twice as many as in 2025, and the number is set to grow, he said in a separate post on X.
Zelenskyy noted a recent raft of good news for Ukraine: NATO partners, excluding the United States, have contributed to a financial arrangement to buy American weapons; the European Union has approved a 90-billion-euro ($106-billion) loan to Ukraine; and the EU intends to place more sanctions on Moscow.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has been assailing oil terminals and refineries deep inside Russia with long-range drones and missiles, aiming to disrupt Moscow’s economy.
The Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, said late Sunday it has seen geolocated evidence that Ukrainian forces conducted at least 10 strikes against Russian oil and gas infrastructure in the past two weeks.

Zamir condemns IDF soldiers who stole property in Lebanon
Discussing the issue of female recruits, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir added that there will be "no gender exclusion" in the military.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, on Monday night, made his first public comment on allegations of IDF soldiers stealing Lebanese property from villages they have been in within southern Lebanon.
Condemning the theft, which was first reported around the end of last week, he said, "The incidents against our values which we have seen are the result of a long and complex period, but this does not justify them. We cannot compromise on our values."
"The phenomenon of theft, if it exists, is a disgrace and could stamp a blemish on all of the IDF," said Zamir.
"He added, "if there were incidents like this, we will probe them. We won't stand for this."
Reports last week indicated a potentially large number of incidents in which Israeli infantry stole items of Lebanese personal property from the villages that they were probing for Hezbollah weapons.

The Lebanese government has not taken a single step against Hezbollah since the ceasefire in Lebanon went into effect some two weeks ago, two Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post on Monday.

According to KAN News, Aoun had made the comment as part of a direct message to the Hezbollah terrorist group, whom he himself accused of treason.
"Treason is the one who takes his country to war for external interests," said Aoun. "My goal is to reach an end to the war with Israel in accordance with a ceasefire agreement, an agreement that stipulates that Israel will not carry out any offensive military action against Lebanese targets."
Aoun noted that he had expressed Lebanon's concerns to the US regarding the ceasefire, saying it is "the first necessary step before any negotiations that follow, and we reiterated this in the two meetings we held at the ambassadorial level.
"We made it clear that Israel will not carry out any attack against Lebanese targets, civilian or military, in any part of Lebanon," added Aoun.

And the FBI did not even open a full investigation, whereas with Trump they had one false tip about barroom gossip from three months earlier and they immediately launched a full enterprise investigation. Germany's Merz Says US 'Humiliated' By Iranians & Trump Lacks Strategy, Exit Plan
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in a rare moment torched US foreign policy and the Trump administration's Iran war gambit. There's been plenty of criticism out of Europe since Operation Epic Fury kicked off on February 28, but Merz's Monday words are especially direct and scathing.
He proclaimed that Iran's leadership was embarrassing the US, claiming it was prompting US officials to travel to Pakistan and then return without achieving any outcome. "The Iranians are obviously very skilled at negotiating, or rather, very skillful at not negotiating, letting the Americans travel to Islamabad and then leave again without any result," he said.
The top German official made the remarks before students in the town of Marsberg. His sharpest attack came in the following: "An entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership, especially by these so-called Revolutionary Guards. And so I hope that this ends as quickly as possible."
Merz then claimed, "If I had known that it would continue like this for five or six weeks and get progressively worse, I would have told him even more emphatically." And yet the criticisms from EU leaders in the opening days were somewhat muted, meager, and weak.
The German leader further questioned whether the US had a clear exit strategy:
"The Iranians are clearly stronger than expected and the Americans clearly have no truly convincing strategy in the negotiations either," Merz said during a school visit in Marsberg, a town in his home region of Sauerland.
"The problem with conflicts like this is always: you don't just have to get in, you have to get out again. We saw that very painfully in Afghanistan for 20 years. We saw it in Iraq."
Indeed a tiny handful of Republicans in Congress have made a similar argument, most especially Rep. Thomas Massie, in dissenting from the Iran war, especially given there's been no formal Congressional approval or war authorization.
Merz also commented on the potential blowback to Europe: "It is at the moment a pretty tangled situation," he said. "And it is costing us a great deal of money. This conflict, this war against Iran, has a direct impact on our economic output."

While Trump may be a step closer to seeing his choice of candidate in the position of Fed Chair, US treasury yields have ticked higher this morning with the market still focused on inflation risks in the absence of little concrete news regarding a peace deal in the Middle East.
There may not have been any recent peace talks but Iran’s Foreign Minister Araqchi has had a busy few days. Following trips to Pakistan and Oman to talk with peace negotiators over the weekend, he has now travelled to Russia in a bid to ratchet up support. Having cancelled a trip by US negotiators Witkoff and Kushner to Pakistan, Trump made it clear that Iran could use the telephone to make a deal - Iran had made clear that talks would be indirect. Trump also reiterated the US’s condition that Iran must not be able to obtain a nuclear weapon. For its part, Iran is maintaining that it will not re-enter talks with the US while its navy is blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
On disappointment over the lack of fresh peace talks, Brent crude spent the first few hours of the European session edging higher before reversing those gains. While US stock market indices closed mixed on Friday, it hasn’t taken much for equity markets to revert to their ‘glass half full’ approach to the global outlook. Despite the very real risks to the global economy implied by higher inflation, much of this optimism has been driven by a solid set of Q1 earnings reported by corporate America. This week there will be no escaping the focus on the tech sector with results due for five of the huge US hyper-scalers.

German party leader calls for compulsory military service
The head of Bavaria’s Christian Social Union, Markus Soder, has criticized Berlin’s plan to only use volunteers to expand the armed forces
Germany should reintroduce compulsory military service in order to increase the size of its armed forces, Markus Soder, the leader of Bavaria’s Christian Social Union (CSU), has said.
Berlin has sparked nationwide protests after introducing a voluntary service model, effective from January 1. Critics warn it could pave the way for restoring conscription, which was suspended in 2011 under then Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“For us it’s clear: if the Bundeswehr is to become Europe’s largest army, military service is unavoidable,” Soder told Bild in an interview on Sunday.
“With volunteers alone we won’t achieve the necessary security our country needs,” the leader of the SCU, which is part of Chancellor Freidrich Merz’s ruling coaliton, said, insisting that compulsory military service “needs to come as soon as possible.”
Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022, Germany has ramped up recruitment, aiming to grow the Bundeswehr from about 186,000 troops to 260,000, plus 200,000 reservists by the mid-2030s, citing an alleged “Russian threat.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed claims that Moscow harbors aggressive intentions against NATO states as “nonsense.” Russia’s Foreign Ministry has warned that Berlin’s continued military buildup could lead to another tragedy on a global scale similar to the Second World War.
Earlier this month, the head of the European Defense Agency (EDA), Andre Denk, suggested that compulsory military service could be reinstated in the EU. He also said that his home country of Germany would likely go down this path eventually.
Croatia, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Poland, and the UK have all either reintroduced conscription, increased intake, or raised age limits for military service and reservists.
The Kremlin has consistently slammed the West’s “reckless militarization” and cited NATO’s expansion toward Russia’s borders as one of the causes of the Ukraine conflict.

Sudan army accused of drone strike on Zalingei displaced camp

The General Coordination of Displaced Persons and Refugees in Darfur accused the Sudanese army on Monday of targeting a crowded camp in Zalingei, Central Darfur, with a drone strike that injured at least 15 people.
The strike on the camp is part of an intensified campaign by the Sudanese army drones in the region. Over the past few days, aerial operations have frequently targeted numerous sites across the five Darfur states currently under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Political forces and armed movements allied with the RSF accuse the army of striking civilian targets.
However, the Sudanese Armed Forces maintain that these raids target RSF positions, including weapon and ammunition depots, fuel stores, and drone hangars, as part of a strategy to disable the RSF’s offensive and defensive capabilities.
Adam Rejal, the spokesperson for the Displaced Persons Coordination, stated that a drone strike attributed to the Sudanese army hit Square 4 of the Hamidiya camp in Zalingei on Monday morning.
The attack resulted in varying injuries to 15 displaced persons who were subsequently transported to Zalingei Hospital.
The statement noted that the attack destroyed several homes within the camp, causing widespread panic among women and children.
During the early months of the conflict that began on April 15 2023, the RSF had previously forced camp residents to flee due to extensive violations committed against the displaced population.
This latest incident follows a series of drone-related escalations in the region.
The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) recently condemned a drone attack on April 24 that targeted an aid truck in North Darfur.
The truck was transporting emergency shelter kits to Tawila, where over 700,000 displaced people are currently seeking safety.
The UNHCR expressed deep concern over the sharp rise in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Sudan since the start of 2026, noting that such strikes have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians.
The agency described the recurrent attacks on aid convoys and facilities as “abhorrent,” emphasizing that they leave thousands of families in desperate conditions without essential supplies.
The Displaced Persons Coordination argued that the army’s actions represent a grave violation of international humanitarian law and amount to war crimes.
It warned that targeting humanitarian infrastructure poses a direct threat to the nearly 9 million internally displaced people and 862,000 refugees currently across Sudan.
The statement called upon the United Nations and the African Union to take urgent action to protect civilians, ensure the delivery of aid, and launch an independent international investigation to hold those responsible accountable.

Washington: Prominent Jeffrey Epstein survivor and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor accuser Virginia Giuffre has been hailed as a hero who changed the world at a memorial to mark a year since her death, as advocates prepare for the imminent US visit of King Charles.
A small crowd gathered in Washington’s National Mall, just a block from the White House, on Saturday (US time) to honour Giuffre, who died by suicide on Anzac Day last year at her farm north of Perth. She was 41.
Her younger brother Sky Roberts, who with his wife Amanda has become a key voice demanding reform of sex -trafficking laws and the release of all the so-called Epstein files, read a letter to his sister from the stage.
“I want you to know: you changed the world, sis,” he said. “Your survivor sisters, your friends, your family and thousands of amazing survivors from all walks of life – they continue to change the world and refuse to stay silent because you showed us the way, and we carry your torch with honour.”
Democrats have introduced a bill to Congress, dubbed Virginia’s Law, that would remove the statute of limitations for adult survivors of sexual abuse to file civil claims against their abusers.
Giuffre accused the late American financier Epstein of trafficking her to King Charles’ younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, when she was 17.
Mountbatten-Windsor has always denied the allegations and reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing. He has said he had no recollection of meeting Giuffre.
The former prince was stripped of his remaining royal titles and honours as the fallout from the release of the Epstein files intensified, and earlier this year was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was released but remains under investigation.
Addressing the crowd in Washington, Arisha Hatch, executive director of social justice lobby group UltraViolet, said the group would launch a new initiative, the Epstein Accountability Project, in coming days, likely during the King’s visit.
The project’s aim was “to make sure the individuals and institutions that enabled the largest child sex abuse network of our lifetime face accountability”, she said.
Sky and Amanda Roberts have called for the King to meet with them and survivors of Epstein’s abuse while he is in the US. Democratic congressman Ro Khanna had also requested the King meet with survivors during his visit.
However, through their lawyers, the King and Queen said they were unable to hold the meeting due to “ongoing police inquiries”.
Democratic congressman Jamie Raskin told the memorial that Giuffre was a leader whose legacy sat alongside the contributions of America’s great civil rights activists.
“Generations to come will marvel at her toughness and celebrate her personal conviction and her moral determination to change American society and to change the world,” he said.
“She is now not just a hero to this movement, but she is a hero to the ages who dwells with other great leaders and heroes of history, like Dolores Huerta, like Rosa Parks and like Frederick Douglass.”
Giuffre’s friend and publicist Dini Von Mueffling said Giuffre was the most extraordinary person she had ever met, fondly recalling their long international phone calls during COVID pandemic lockdowns.
She said she wished Giuffre had been alive to see the introduction of Virginia’s Law and Mountbatten-Windsor lose his remaining privileges. “Gloating was not her thing. Justice and accountability were,” she said.
Prior to her death, Giuffre accused her estranged Australian husband, Robert, of years of physical and emotional abuse.
He pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge involving a 2015 incident, 60 Minutes reported.
He has denied the abuse allegations through lawyers, and earlier this year sent a concerns notice to 60 Minutes, the first step in defamation proceedings.
In the crowd, Hannah Holden, who was visiting Washington from Brazil, and works for an organisation that supports survivors of sexual harm and domestic violence, said she felt compelled to attend the memorial.
“She’s fearless, and she deserves so much more, she deserves justice, she deserves all the love in the world,” Holden said.

Drone stops all flights taking off or landing at Lanzarote Airport

Flights at Lanzarote Airport were temporarily suspended yesterday (Sunday) after an illegal drone was spotted near the runway, triggering immediate safety protocols and grounding of all planes.
The alert was raised during the afternoon when an unmanned aerial device was detected close to the Airport. According to air traffic controllers, operations were halted straight away to ensure the safety of both aircraft and passengers.
The presence of the drone forced several incoming commercial flights to remain in holding patterns over the sea while the situation was assessed.
The runway closure lasted for around 40 minutes, during which aircraft carried out delay manoeuvres before being cleared to land.
Air traffic controllers carefully managed the situation to avoid any risk, and no flights had to be diverted to other airports in the Canary Islands.
Normal operations resumed at approximately 4:40pm once the airspace was confirmed to be completely clear.
Serious consequences for drone misuse
Flying drones near an airport is considered a very serious offence. Fines for operating such devices in restricted airspace without permission can exceed €225,000.
The incident highlights the importance of complying with regulations set by AESA (Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea).
Any unidentified object detected near flight paths requires strict emergency procedures, including the full suspension of all flights until safety can be guaranteed.
Authorities have once again stressed that even a single drone in controlled airspace can bring airport operations to a complete standstill.

The World Health Organization reported on Friday that more than 17,000 cases of infections linked to rodents and external parasites have been recorded among displaced Palestinians in Gaza since the beginning of the year.
The figures were presented during a United Nations press briefing in Geneva, where WHO Representative for the occupied Palestinian territory, Dr. Reinhilde Van de Weerdt, detailed the scale of the crisis facing Gaza’s collapsing health system.
She said that damage to the health sector alone is estimated at $1.4 billion, with more than 1,800 health facilities partially or completely destroyed.
These include major hospitals, primary healthcare centers, clinics, pharmacies, and laboratories, leaving the system severely constrained in its ability to respond.
The destruction has not only reduced medical capacity but also contributed directly to the spread of disease.
“Destroyed buildings and mountains of accumulated waste had created ideal breeding grounds for rodents and pests,” Van de Weerdt said, linking the environmental conditions to rising infection rates among displaced communities.
Widespread Infections
According to WHO data, around 80 percent of approximately 1,600 displacement sites report frequent and visible rodent and pest presence.
More than 80 percent of these sites have also recorded skin infections, including lice and bed bugs, underscoring the extent of deteriorating sanitation conditions.
These infections are spreading in overcrowded shelters where displaced families lack access to adequate hygiene, waste management, and medical care.
The health risks are compounded by the scale of displacement and the continued strain on infrastructure, with large sections of the population living in makeshift conditions amid rubble and debris.
Health System Under Strain
Despite the scale of destruction, WHO said efforts to support the health system are ongoing. The organization has completed a 128-bed extension at Al-Shifa Hospital, one of Gaza’s largest medical facilities, in an attempt to increase capacity.
However, Van de Weerdt stressed that such measures are insufficient without broader systemic changes.
“For saving life to have an impact, health and health care workers need to be protected; and essential medicines and supplies must enter Gaza,” she said, calling for the removal of bureaucratic processes and access restrictions affecting the delivery of critical supplies.
She emphasized that without consistent access to medicines, equipment, and laboratory supplies, the ability to diagnose and respond to emerging health threats remains severely limited.

The IDF said it launched a wave of airstrikes Monday against Hezbollah infrastructure in the Beqaa Valley and several areas of southern Lebanon as a fragile ceasefire appeared to be rapidly unraveling just days after it was extended.
The strikes came following repeated recent attacks by the Iran-backed terror group on IDF troops and Israel during the truce, including a deadly drone attack in Lebanon the previous day that killed an IDF soldier and wounded six.
Lebanon’s president, whose government is holding historic direct talks with Israel amid the ceasefire, condemned Hezbollah for the strikes.
No further details were immediately given by the IDF on the strikes.
Later the military said that IDF troops captured a cache of Hezbollah weapons in southern Lebanon, including first-person view (FPV) drones, anti-tank explosive devices and remote detonation systems, explosive-laden drones, RPGs, firearms and other weapons.
Hezbollah has made frequent use of small FPV drones in its attacks on Israeli troops in recent weeks, including in a deadly attack Sunday.
Amid the ongoing violence, some local government leaders in northern Israel announced that schools would be canceled for at least one day, part of a range of security measures that were not coordinated with the national government.
Israel has not struck in Lebanon’s eastern Beqaa Valley, which lies about 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of the border, in some three weeks, before the ceasefire began on April 17.
Security sources told Reuters strikes had hit near the town of Nabi Chit, near Lebanon’s eastern border with Syria, with no immediate reports of casualties.
Lebanon’s state media agency reported several strikes across the south that left at least three people wounded.
The US-mediated ceasefire has seen ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah but was extended on April 24 for an additional three weeks, US President Donald Trump announced during direct talks in Washington between Israel and Lebanon.
Under the terms of the truce, Israel reserves the right to respond to “planned, imminent or ongoing attacks.” Trump has also said Israel can open fire in self-defense.

The talks have been held despite opposition from Hezbollah, which began attacking Israel in support of its sponsor Iran after the US-Israel war with the Islamic Republic began at the end of February. A fragile ceasefire was reached between the US and Iran earlier this month.
Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun told a delegation from villages in southern Lebanon on Monday that negotiating with Israel “is not betrayal,” as Beirut and Jerusalem continued talks aimed at reaching a settlement and potential peace deal.

14-Year Old Allegedly Stomped on Girl’s Head After She Refused to Give Her Number
A 14-year-old black boy was charged with assault after video shows him allegedly body-slamming a teen girl onto a New York City sidewalk and stomping on her head. Video shows he threatened to “knock the shit” out of her. A report indicated that the 15-year old girl had refused to give hm her phone number.
The girl reportedly had injuries that include a concussion, bleeding, a possible brain injury, splitting headaches and a twisted neck. Her mother said the injuries will necessitate ongoing physical therapy.
The suspect’s mother, Selma Allen, described her son as a “humble” Christian and claimed the girl had bullied him at school and called him racial epithets. She implied that there was a record with the school of the girl bullying the suspect.

Child sexual exploitation: 12 children identified during Europol’s Victim Identification Taskforce
The action generated over 200 leads, which will be forwarded to national authorities
From 13 to 24 April 2026, 34 specialists in victim identification from Europol, INTERPOL and 31 countries worldwide gathered at Europol’s headquarters in The Hague to identify victims and perpetrators of child sexual exploitation cases. As a result of the taskforce, 12 children were tentatively identified.
During the course of the action, experts analysed over 317 datasets on victims of child sexual exploitation (CSE), covering both genders and ages from toddlers to teenagers, and spanning diverse origins and national backgrounds. The operation generated 204 leads, which have been forwarded to national authorities for further investigation.
Over 118 million unique files processed
Europol hosts Victim Identification Taskforces (VIDTF) twice a year. A few months before they take place, Europol experts triage data from Europol’s Image-Video Analysis System (IVAS) to identify and prioritise specific datasets for victim identification.
Since the deployment of IVAS in 2016, Europol has processed over 118 million unique files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse, contributed by various law enforcement authorities.
During the VIDTF operations organised between 2014-2026, the experts analysed 8 585 datasets, generating 3 484 leads (intelligence packages). Further investigations conducted by the national competent authorities have led to the identification and safeguard of 1 190 victims and the apprehension of 330 offenders.

Behind every number, there’s a child. Our job is far from done.
A taskforce, a successful format
During the taskforce, specialists analyse data, images, videos and intelligence to identify clues that may lead to the identification of victims and offenders, or at least help determine the likely country where the child sexual exploitation material was produced. Using Europol’s IVAS, they examine the material, group it into series, and upload it to the International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database hosted by INTERPOL.
In turn, specialists provide Europol with information for cross-checking against its databases, helping to enrich intelligence packages for the countries where victims and/or offenders are believed to be located. These packages are then disseminated by Europol analysts to the relevant operational partners for further action.
Bringing together specialists from different countries at Europol has proven to be highly effective. It enables experts to share knowledge, leads to tangible results and supports a smooth and efficient exchange of information. As a result, the Victim Identification Taskforce format is being used more frequently and is increasingly recognised as a successful way of working together.

Alleged Guatemalan Drug Kingpin With $10 Million Reward Arrested in San Diego
SAN DIEGO – Alleged Guatemalan drug kingpin Eugenio Dario Molina-Lopez, aka “Don Dario,” who is accused of being the leader of a transnational criminal organization known as Los Huistas, has been arrested in San Diego. Molina-Lopez made his initial appearance in federal court on Friday, April 24, 2026.
Los Huistas is a drug trafficking organization primarily based in the Huehuetenango region of Northwest Guatemala that borders Mexico and is engaged in a massive cocaine trafficking operation. Molina-Lopez was charged as part of Operation Guerrilla Unit, a multi-year investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), HSI Attaché Guatemala City, Guatemala, and the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego. The investigation targeted Molina-Lopez, the Los Huistas organization, and its suppliers. High-level cocaine traffickers were targeted in a massive probe involving multiple countries, multiple law enforcement agencies around the United States, and a number of federal districts.
The indictment returned on January 29, 2019, charges Molina-Lopez with Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine Intended for Unlawful Importation and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine on Board a Vessel.
In March 2022, the U.S. Department of State announced that it was offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Molina-Lopez. This award was offered under the U.S. Department of State’s Narcotics Rewards Program (NRP). More than 75 transnational criminals and major narcotics traffickers have been brought to justice under the NRP and the Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program (TOCRP) since 1986. The Department has paid more than $135 million in rewards to date. The State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs manages the NRP in close coordination with Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and other U.S. government agencies.
Simultaneously in March 2022, the U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) also designated the Los Huistas Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) and Eugenio Dario Molina-Lopez pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 14059 for drug trafficking that threatens the people and security of the United States and Guatemala.
“Cartel leaders don’t get to write the end of their stories. We do,” said U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon. “And once again, the final chapter for a man alleged to be one of the world’s most notorious and prolific cocaine traffickers is here in the Southern District of California.”
“This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the Homeland Security Task Force and our partnerships with agencies across the United States and Guatemala,” said Kevin Murphy, acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations, San Diego. “HSI and our law enforcement partners were able to dismantle a major transnational criminal organization responsible for trafficking massive quantities of cocaine and threatening the security of both nations. This operation underscores the importance of a whole-of-government approach and the relentless commitment of HSI and our partners to protect our communities and uphold the rule of law.”

Late Air Force Officer Linked To Alleged Legacy UFO Program

The late U.S. Air Force intelligence officer Matthew Sullivan, who died in 2024 before he could, according to Representative Eric Burlison, testify in a federal UFO whistleblower case, is understood by Liberation Times to have been involved in an alleged legacy UFO program.
Liberation Times further understands from sources that Sullivan was allegedly directly involved in the technology aspects of the UFO legacy program, believed to be related to an exotic vehicle suspected to be of non-human origin.
Liberation Times was told that Sullivan carried out this work for a private corporation working with a U.S. intelligence agency, although his involvement in the alleged legacy UFO program is understood to have begun during his time as an Air Force officer.
Representative Burlison has stated, “He [Sullivan] was scheduled to come in for an interview. Within two weeks, he had suspiciously committed suicide.”
Burlison has said he has “grave concerns” that Sullivan’s death appears “suspicious”, suggesting the veteran intelligence officer may have been silenced before he could reveal what he knew.
Sullivan had been contacted by Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) whistleblower and retired U.S. Air Force Major David Grusch before the intelligence officer’s sudden death, which reportedly left Grusch extremely distraught.
'Grusch was helping him come forward as a whistleblower,' Burlison told the Daily Mail last week. Liberation Times understands that Grusch and Sullivan had previously served together within the Air Force.
As a U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, Sullivan served at a number of high-level institutions, including the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, the National Security Agency and the Air Force Intelligence Agency.
He also deployed to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, and his obituary states that he earned a Bronze Star for his valor during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Notably, Sullivan’s funeral was attended by Major General David Abba, who served between 2021 and 2024 as Director of Special Programs and head of the Department of Defense Special Access Program Central Office.
Abba described Sullivan as “the brightest intel lieutenant I ever met” and worked as his supervisor at Langley Air Force Base.
Abba said Sullivan carried “the burden that a select few in this nation have of truly understanding what’s going on”, adding that he bore that weight every day.
“There are not many people you can share that with,” he said. “But those who carry that weight know it and understand it, and we all have to lean on one another.
I watched that young lieutenant, despite all the shenanigans, mature into one of the leading thinkers on the truly hard issues with enormous implications for our country. It frustrated him to no end that we so often could not get out of our own way.”
Sullivan’s death has come to light amid wider media coverage of eleven scientists and defense-linked figures in the United States who have reportedly died or disappeared, many of them tied to classified aerospace and defense programs.
Among the most notable cases is the disappearance of retired U.S. Air Force General William “Neil” McCasland, who vanished from his home in Albuquerque in February.
McCasland was a former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, placing him at the centre of some of the Pentagon’s most advanced aerospace research.
After leaving the military, he became involved with Blink-182 musician Tom DeLonge and his UAP-related efforts, which helped lay the groundwork for the modern congressional push for disclosure on UAP.

WASHINGTON– The Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged Cole Allen, the suspect in the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting, with the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump.
Allen, during a brief appearance on April 27, was also charged with transporting a firearm across state lines with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. If convicted, Allen faces life in prison and hundreds of thousands in fines.
He has not yet entered a plea.
Magistrate Judge Matthew Sharbaugh informed Allen of his rights, while prosecutors requested that he remain in custody. Allen’s detention hearing is on Thursday, and a preliminary hearing will be held on May 11.
According to officials, Allen sent a manifesto to family members in which he referred to himself as the “Friendly Federal Assassin,” and outlined plans to target senior Trump administration officials attending the event. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the intended targets likely included Trump.
Authorities said Allen traveled from California to Washington by train and booked a room at the Washington Hilton, where the event was held.
The annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner brings together journalists and prominent figures to celebrate press freedom. The shooting disrupted the high-profile gathering, sending attendees scrambling for cover and prompting law enforcement to quickly evacuate senior officials. Trump, who was scheduled to speak later that evening, was rushed offstage by security after the gunfire began.
Investigators say Allen fired a shotgun at a Secret Service agent at a security checkpoint inside the hotel before being subdued and arrested. Video footage later shared online showed the suspect running through a hallway near the ballroom. Allen did not make it into the ballroom.
Officials said the suspect was stopped within a secured area and described the response as a success for law enforcement. However, the incident has renewed concerns about the safety of Trump—who survived two assassination attempts during his 2024 campaign—and other U.S. officials.
The Secret Service agent who was struck was protected by a tactical vest and released from the hospital within hours.
Allen, who authorities say was carrying a handgun and multiple knives in addition to the shotgun, was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation after the incident.
Allen, approximately 31, is from Torrance, California, a coastal city in the South Bay region near Los Angeles along Santa Monica Bay. A LinkedIn profile under his name describes him as a “mechanical engineer and computer scientist by degree, independent game developer by experience, and teacher by birth.”
According to the profile, he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 2017 and a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 2025. Caltech confirmed that an individual with that name graduated in 2017.

Three former JPL researchers, Michael David Hicks, Frank Maiwald, and Monica Reza, are among the dead or missing. Astrophysicist Carl Grillmair was shot dead at his home outside Los Angeles in February.
The most recent and politically charged case involves retired Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland, the seventh Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory, who walked out of his Albuquerque home on 27 February and remains missing.
He left behind his phone, prescription glasses, and wearable devices, taking only a wallet and a .38 calibre revolver, according to his wife.
Genuine Threat or Statistical Coincidence
Several of those listed held high-level security clearances tied to advanced materials, planetary defence, and nuclear weapons infrastructure.
Reza, who patented a nickel super-alloy used in rocket programmes including New Glenn and Starship, was last seen on Angeles Crest Highway in June 2025.
However, experts question whether a pattern even exists. Medical sociologist Robert Bartholomew said the public response shows classic 'apophenia', or the human tendency to see meaningful links in unrelated events.
Writing for Psychology Today, he warned that authority figures suggesting foul play activate the brain's pattern-seeking instinct, which 'renders us vulnerable to conspiracy theories.'
Representative James Walkinshaw, a Democrat on the Oversight Committee, told CNN he is not convinced of a coordinated motive, noting the US has thousands of nuclear scientists and that targeting 10 people would barely affect any adversary's strategic interests.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Corbell revealed that it was the son of the then-senior cybersecurity official at Los Alamos National Laboratory who shared the documents with him after his father's death.
Los Alamos National Laboratory, established under Robert Oppenheimer's leadership, is a highly classified US Department of Energy facility recognised for its work in nuclear weapons development.

Corbell said the file contained definitive proof of a long-running, classified effort involving multiple government agencies.
'These documents came in … and it is absolute proof that the US had maintained a secret decades-long program,' Corbell said.
Reports indicate the files include memos, photos, and meeting notes allegedly tied to high-level discussions about unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).
Some documents even describe a 1991 classified meeting involving intelligence agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and National Security Administration (NSA) to examine UFO sightings and their origins.
Corbell also said the document includes technical sketches and detailed illustrations of saucer-shaped craft, cylindrical objects, and crop circle formations.
There were also records from Russian intelligence describing sightings throughout the Soviet Union. The file also named scientists whom Corbell said he had met while doing his research.
'Atmospheric Anomalies' and Government Secrecy Explained Fully
Corbell claims that scientists at Los Alamos were quietly investigating what were then referred to as 'atmospheric anomalies' - an earlier term for UFOs.
One of the most important details about the document was the agenda of a high-level, all-day meeting on 24 April 1991 at Los Alamos, where representatives of the CIA and NSA, the Army and Navy discussed the 1987 Gulf Breeze UFO Incident in Florida and the Belgian UFO wave in 1989.
The revelations challenge decades of official denial following programmes like Project Blue Book, which concluded in 1969 with claims that UFOs posed no national security threat.
Calls for Transparency and Release of UFO Evidence
In an interview with NewsNation, Corbell said he believed that President Donald Trump may release some UFO-related files. But the journalist and others are pushing for the release of specific classified videos about their investigations.
'What we're asking for … is very specifically 46 videos obtained by our intelligence communities', Corbell said, adding that the footage demonstrates 'incredible capabilities' beyond known technology.
Extraordinary Claims, Limited Confirmation Require Strong Evidence
While the documents have sparked intense public interest, they stop short of confirming more extraordinary claims, such as the recovery of alien spacecraft or beings.
'You don't get the whole enchilada in documents', Corbell admitted. 'But what you do get is clear evidence' of classified UFO investigations.

Human Perception is Limited

However, he added that this same limitation cuts both ways. If unusual objects consistently appear across different observers, instruments, and conditions, then the explanation may not lie in perception alone. Instead, it could indicate gaps in current scientific models.
In exploring what UFOs might be, Hazeltine and fellow researchers laid out a wide range of possibilities. These include secret human technology, natural atmospheric phenomena, and more controversial ideas such as non-human intelligence or even unknown forms of life.
Some theories discussed go further, suggesting UFOs could involve physics not yet fully understood, including concepts linked to quantum mechanics, time distortion, or non-local effects.
While these ideas remain speculative, they are treated as part of a broader effort to avoid prematurely closing off explanations.
He also referenced the idea that intelligence may not resemble human life at all. Instead of biology based on carbon and oxygen, it could involve entirely different systems, potentially even artificial or non-material forms of intelligence.
