I'm no expert but I know better than ignore an Admiral who says his ship needs maintenance.
The extended deployment has taken its toll.
Sewage system problems sound like a biological hazard waiting to happen.
Perhaps bring it back for maintenance?
Would lower cost over the long run and reduce the time it takes to redeploy the ship.
