Dr. Abukar is considered a respected elder in the Somali community. In 2012, Dr. Abukar attended the 20th anniversary session of the FBI Citizens Academy program in Phoenix. After he graduated, Dr. Abukar worked with the FBI to organize a Community Relations Executive Seminar Training (CREST) program with the Somali community. The CREST took place at the Somali American United Council Center, where attendees learned about civil rights, human trafficking, and cyber and white-collar crime programs.

It also has an asking price of $175 million US ($230 million Cdn), which industry experts say would easily break a record for the most ever paid for a residential property in the United States.
Since around 1900 the property in Darien, Conn., has belonged to the family and descendants of William Ziegler, an industrialist who made his fortune in baking powder. The family decided to sell the estate, known as Great Island, as younger generations have moved on and the main house has not been occupied for some time, according to David Ogilvy, the listing agent.
The record for the most expensive American home was set by a property sold in 2014 in New York's Hamptons for $147 million US, according to Jonathan Miller, president of Miller Samuel Real Estate Appraisers & Consultants, who also tracks luxury home sales as a hobby.

Justice Department officials have suggested that comments and actions by Minnesota leaders may have crossed legal lines. U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said, “When the Governor or the Mayor threaten our officers, when the Mayor suggests that he’s encouraging citizens to call 911 when they see ICE officers, that is very close to a federal crime.”
The investigation also comes after testimony before Congress by independent journalist Nick Shirley, whose reporting on alleged Somali daycare fraud in Minnesota gained widespread attention.
The subpoena controversy adds to mounting scrutiny of Walz over a separate scandal involving alleged fraud in federal COVID-19 relief programs. Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying laws allow patients to request a painless death if an assessor agrees their terminal condition meets certain requirements.
Patients often wait weeks, but it can happen the same day the application is lodged if judged to be medically urgent by a MAiD provider.
But a report by the Ontario MAiD Death Review Committee raised concerns that safeguards were being eroded that led to questionable deaths.
One case study was that of a woman in her 80s referred to as 'Mrs B' who had complications after a coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
She went into severe decline and opted for palliative care, and was sent home from hospital with palliative support and her husband caring for her.
But as her condition got worse, her elderly husband struggled to care for her even with the help of visits by nurses.
'Mrs B reportedly expressed her desire for MAiD to her family. In response, and on the same day, her spouse contacted a referral service on her behalf,' the report read.
However, she told the assessor she 'wanted to withdraw her request, citing personal and religious values and beliefs' and instead wanted inpatient hospice care.
Her husband took her to hospital the next morning where doctors found she was stable but her husband was 'experiencing caregiver burnout'.
Mrs B's palliative care doctor applied for in-patient hospice care due to her husband's burnout, but it was quickly denied.
Her husband asked for an urgent second MAiD assessment later that day and a different assessor showed up.
This one judged her to be eligible, but the original one, who was contacted as per protocol, objected.
'This MAiD practitioner expressed concerns regarding the necessity for "urgency" and shared belief for the need for more comprehensive evaluation, the seemingly drastic change in perspective of end-of-life goals, and the possibility of coercion or undue influence (i.e., due to caregiver burnout),' the report explained.
Their request to meet Mrs B the next day was declined by the MAiD provider as 'the clinical circumstances necessitated an urgent provision'.
Instead, a third assessor was sent who agreed with the second one, and Mrs B was euthanized that evening.

A massive drilling rig operating on ConocoPhillips’ behalf toppled over while traveling along a gravel road on Alaska’s North Slope on Friday afternoon, local and company officials said.
No one was seriously injured and all personnel were accounted for in the incident, which occurred around 4:45 p.m. and involved the Doyon 26 rig, ConocoPhillips and the North Slope Borough said in a joint prepared statement.
The resulting fire after the rig toppled over was “contained and controlled” as of Friday evening with emergency responders at the scene, according to their statement.
ConocoPhillips and the borough said that “there was no damage to local community infrastructure and no impact to pipelines or fuel transportation.”
Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy wrote on social media that he has “been in contact with ConocoPhillips leadership” and that there “appears to be minimal damage to the environment” so far.
ConocoPhillips was “working on plans to recover the rig,” he wrote.
The Doyon 26 rig, which is nicknamed “The Beast” and was ordered by ConocoPhillips in 2016, set a long-distance drilling record in Alaska in 2022 and helped the producer unlock oil from a section of western North Slope oil fields.
At 9.5 million pounds, it was hailed as the largest mobile land rig in North America with the ability to develop about three times as much area as conventional rigs.
The rig was built by Doyon Drilling, owned by Doyon, an Alaska Native regional corporation.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) ordered all public housing authorities and owners receiving department-funded housing Friday to verify tenant citizenship and eligibility after an audit conducted with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) flagged tens of thousands of deceased and ineligible tenants nationwide.
HUD said the audit identified nearly 200,000 tenants requiring eligibility verification, including nearly 25,000 deceased tenants and nearly 6,000 ineligible non-American tenants across federally funded housing programs.
Under the directive, HUD said all public housing authorities and participating owners have 30 days to take corrective action or face potential sanctions.
