Are MTA Subway Tracks In Queens Being Held Together ByZip Ties

Where is the boatload of tax money New York City takes in going?

That's likely the main question on the minds of Gotham's citizens this week after the NY Post revealed in a report the latest "feature" of riding the prestigious MTA public transit: there appears to be zip ties holding together subway tracks.

While illegal migrants are being treated to stays in four star hotels in Midtown, it appears NYC citizens riding the train at the Rockaway Boulevard A train station in Ozone Park are footing the bill. They have been left asking if the tracks of the subway they have been riding are barely holding on for dear life.

Nursing student Kayle Persaud asked the NY Post: “Should I be worried? If I cut one zip tie, does it start to fall?”

Another subway rider told the Post: “The first time I saw it I thought, ‘Hmm… Is it holding the tracks together?'Even the screws look like they’re not all the way in.”

A third rider added: “Even if it’s not actually holding the track together, it just looks awful. They could have cut it off or painted it the same color. I hope it’s not holding the tracks together for all the money we pay to travel on the subway.”

Zip ties on wooden railroad ties are used to prevent splintering and falling debris, according to a track worker and the MTA. MTA officials stated they mark areas needing future repair and are not a safety concern.

However, the MTA's announcement to halt capital projects following Governor Kathy Hochul's delay of the congestion pricing plan has worried commuters. The congestion pricing was expected to generate $1 billion for $15 billion in improvements. Some commuters criticized the use of zip ties, calling them a "ridiculous" look.

"Hopefully, it’s just a sign of laziness," said New Yorker Rose Mohammed. “We’re supposed to be the greatest city in the world, and we have zip ties around our tracks?”

MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said: “When inspectors find certain issues, they use ties for temporary protection and to identify locations where following repair crews will make more permanent repairs."

I want to tell you guys a HORROR story regarding Social Security SSI Disability Benefits.

I know a 65 year old man who was in an accident and hasn't worked in a longtime because he can't walk and one arm is partially disabled but I always see him trying to get around and participate in life as much as he can and I greatly respect him for his efforts.

The other day he explained to me that he was on SSI Disability and it is really hard to makes ends meet with the Bidenomics price increases but he manages to keep going on only $943 dollars a month for all his expenses.

To me the maximum amount of SSI Disability payments for a disabled elderly man only being $943 a month, makes no sense at all it'sCRUELTYno matter how you slice it.

I decided to give him $300 a month to help him out and also looked into other benefits he might be eligible for every month.

After contacting the 'Social Security office I was told if I give him $300 a month then $300 a month will be deducted from his SSI monthly payment and I said how can he possibly get ahead when he cannot have more than $943 a month and no more than $2,000 in total life savings or he will be kicked off the program.

Social Security workers they don't give two shits about anyone.

Where I live you can't even rent a closet for $943 a month so I'm wondering why are the the politicians in Washington DC doing this to America's elderly that are unfortunately disabled?

All that FUCKIN' taxpayer money going to illegal alien insects and non Americans in the Ukraine and all them asshole do nothing politicians in Washington DC can't even give America's disabled elderly a couple more hundred dollars a month at least…

Robert Hur Emerges As The Clear Winner In The Presidential Debate

The presidential debate last night was chilling to watch as President Joe Biden clearly struggled to retain his focus and, at points, seemed hopelessly confused. The winner was clear: Special Counsel Robert Hur. What has followed is the usual pile-on in the media with legal analysts, press, and pundits denouncing Hur for his findings.

Hur likely does not anticipate any apologies even as commentators on CNN and MSNBC admit that there are now unavoidable questions of Biden’s ability to be the nominee.

Democrats have repeatedly insisted that Hur did not find Biden diminished and that he actually was impressed by his memory and mental acuity. Hur contradicted that in his own testimony before Congress.

Indeed, the denial campaign took on a bizarre character, particularly when Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D., Wash.) insisted that Hur “exonerated” Biden. Hur pushed back:“I need to go back and make sure that I take note of a word that you used, ‘exoneration.’ That is not a word that is used in my report and that is not a part of my task as a prosecutor.”

Jayapal shot back, “You exonerated him.”

Hur responded, “I did not exonerate him. That word does not appear in the report.”

The debate also further undermines the ridiculous effort of the Biden Administration to continue to withhold the audiotape of the Hur interview as privileged (despite saying that the transcript is not privileged).

The debate showed not only what Hur saw but why the Justice Department is making a clearly laughable privilege claim to delay any release of the audiotape until after the election.

Saudi Aramco Awards $25 Billion in Contracts For Gas Expansion

Saudi Aramco has awarded construction contracts worth $25 billion for the development of its Jafurah gas project, as it looks to boost production of the fuel considered a key part of plans to reduce plant-warming emissions.

The contracts awarded include $12.4 billion for increasing gas output at Jafurah, plus $8.8 billion for expanding the so-called master gas system, which delivers natural gas to customers around the country, according to a statement. Aramco also awarded $2.4 billion in contracts for gas rigs. Saudi Arabia has some of the biggest gas reserves in the world. Development of the Jafurah field, estimated to hold 200 trillion cubic feet of gas, is expected to cost $100 billion and boost the firm’s gas production more than 60% by 2030.

“These contract awards demonstrate our firm belief in the future of gas as an important energy source, as well as a vital feedstock for downstream industries,” Aramco Chief Executive Officer Amin Nasser said in Sunday’s statement.  “The scale of our ongoing investment at Jafurah and the expansion of our Master Gas System underscores our intention to further integrate and grow our gas business to meet anticipated rising demand,” he added. 

Gas from the project will be used in the first instance to supply the country’s domestic industries, with any excess capacity potentially used to make blue hydrogen or exported as LNG,(that will certainly cut in to Algeria’s nut as the biggest exporter in Africa )Aramco has said.

An alien-like creature with protruding spikes that lived more than 500 million years ago was discovered in British Columbia.

The lobopodian, named Entothyreos synnaustrus, was found in an area of Yoho National Park called the Tulip Beds in the Burgess Shale.

There have been 10,000 specimens collected from the area since its discovery by the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in 1983. “The Burgess Shale is famous for its exquisite fossils of soft-bodied organisms.

It is exceptional to find complete animals preserved, especially ones that had only soft tissues and no mineralized structures,” according to to the Royal Ontario Museum’s webpage about the site.

In a new study published in the Journal of Systematic Palaeontology, researchers described the recently identified lobopodian. There have been a total of 51 specimens of this new species recovered to date.

The creature — that looks like a worm with a spiky exterior — had 11 lobopods (or appendages), with claws at the end. It measured only 5 centimetres.

The anterior six lobopods had a “dense array of small spines,” according to the study. Its anterior limbs were used for suspension-feeding and its “stout” posterior limbs were used to anchor itself in place, the study said. Its back appendages “likely served a protective function,” according to researchers.

“Entothyreos synnaustrus demonstrates a distinct system of overlapping and hardened body plates along its trunk. It also had hardened rings surrounding the bases of its limbs,” as per science blog Everything Dinosaur.

“The discovery of Entothyreos synnaustrus suggests that the evolution of arthropod-like features, such as segmented and hardened body parts, may have emerged in parallel among the ancestors of arthropods.

The way whales communicate is closer to human language than we realized

A wave of new projects are taking us closer to understanding what whales are communicating to each other

Sperm whales are fascinating creatures. They possess the biggest brain of any species, six times larger than a human’s, which scientists believe may have evolved to support intelligent, rational behavior. They’re highly social, capable of making decisions as a group, and they exhibit complex foraging behavior.

But there’s also a lot we don’t know about them, including what they may be trying to say to one another when they communicate using a system of short bursts of clicks, known as codas. Now, new research published in Nature Communications today suggests that sperm whales’ communication is actually much more expressive and complicated than was previously thought.

A team of researchers led by Pratyusha Sharma at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) working with Project CETI, a nonprofit focused on using AI to understand whales, used statistical models to analyze whale codas and managed to identify a structure to their language that’s similar to features of the complex vocalizations humans use. Their findings represent a tool future research could use to decipher not just the structure but the actual meaning of whale sounds.

The team analyzed recordings of 8,719 codas from around 60 whales collected by the Dominica Sperm Whale Project between 2005 and 2018, using a mix of algorithms for pattern recognition and classification. They found that the way the whales communicate was not random or simplistic, but structured depending on the context of their conversations. This allowed them to identify distinct vocalizations that hadn’t been previously picked up on.
