Young teens in Saskatchewan may soon be able to land their first legal job sooner.

The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce has proposed allowing 13-year-olds to work as part of its policy recommendations issued in a news release on June 13.

The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce released its policy platform for the 2024 provincial election, Fueling Momentum 2024. The platform is intended to provide Saskatchewan political parties with information on the priorities of businesses in the province.

“This is a pivotal time for the province. We are positioned to become a critically important partner in addressing global food insecurity and energy transition. Over the coming four years, the Saskatchewan government needs to continue to capitalize on the province’s vast potential to fuel growth and new investment,” said Prabha Ramaswamy, the CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber told True North that the platform was developed through consultation with industry leaders and its members.

The far-left concept of “environmental racism” will soon become written into law in Canada and companies that open factories or establish landfills near “racialized communities” could be accused of racism.

A bill championed by the Green Party which labels environmental hazards near Indigenous or other marginalized communities as “environmental racism” received royal assent Thursday, passing the final step a bill takes before becoming law.

Bill C-226, “an act respecting the development of a national strategy to assess, prevent and address environmental racism and to advance environmental justice,” was first read in the House of Commons more than two years ago and will now become law.

Environmental racism is what policymakers believe happens when polluting industries operate in communities of predominately “racialized” or marginalized people. The argument follows that pollution disproportionally affects these groups.

“Today marks a historic victory in our journey towards environmental justice,” Green Party Leader Elizabeth May said. “The passage of Bill C-226 represents a commitment to addressing the long-standing and deeply entrenched issue of environmental racism in Canada.” Continue…

Kids as young as six years old or those entering Grade 2 in Canada’s Quebec province will be exposed to extreme LGBT ideology in schools via a new mandatory curriculum addition teaching so-called “gender identity.”

The Ministry of Education’s new program is called “Culture and Citizenship,” which includes an emphasis on “gender identity” along with other LGBT+ content. It will become mandatory for the 2024-2025 school year.

The new program will replace the old “Ethics and Religious Culture” (ERC) curriculum and in essence will indoctrinate kids on a host of sexually charged areas and topics that many Catholic and Christian parents oppose. As a child progresses in school, the program will introduce more about “inclusion” and “gender identity” along with other topics.

The previous Ethics and Religious Culture was geared toward teaching students about the province’s cultural and religious heritage and about respect, with the new curriculum hyper-focused on woke diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agendas.

Questions surrounding the Vancouver officer emerged in connection to a complaint to RCMP of suspected misuse of CPIC, according to a source with direct awareness. CPIC is the tightly-regulated Canadian police database the RCMP is responsible for stewarding.

The investigation emerged in B.C. political circles in January 2024, and has included questioning of Vancouver-area politicians, according to records and sources with awareness.

Questions include whether Vancouver police officers could have accessed CPIC to gather private information on Vancouver municipal politicians, and whether this data could have been shared with Chinese officials in connection to recent elections.

The Commission said it was satisfied that “the opening of a deficit-based excessive deficit procedure is warranted” in the case of seven countries. The group also included Hungary, Malta, Poland and Slovakia.

The EU suspended debt and deficit regulations to help countries cope with the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The pollution, some of which came from the burning of vinyl chloride, a carcinogen, spread over 540,000 square miles, showing clearly that “the impacts of the fire were larger in scale and scope than the initial predictions,” the authors of the study, published in Environmental Research Letters, found.

The Liberal government’s economic strategy is “ineffective” at spurring growth according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

The international body composed of high-GDP nations released a report saying that the current path continues to put Canada further behind.

In its 2024 Economic Outlook for Canada, the intergovernmental agency said that Canada hasn’t been seeing the GDP benefits it should from its record-breaking population growth.

Despite Canada seeing the highest population spike since 1957, economic growth has remained low and unemployment continues to rise.

The OECD’s report suggests that the federal government should reduce its fiscal spending to create more productive investment and do more to facilitate a tax-friendly business environment.

“Tax reforms should include reconsideration of preferential rates of tax for small businesses, which may affect small firms’ productivity growth and distort the allocation of resources across different types of firms,” suggests the report.

However, the Trudeau government continues to enforce policies which push the country’s economy in the opposite direction, exacerbating its existing problems. Continue…

A new Leger poll found that Canadians’ views on federal bilingualism differ greatly based on region.

While 70% of Quebecers view bilingualism positively, that number drops to only 43% for the rest of the country.

Canada officially recognized both English and French as its official languages in 1969, when it was enshrined into law under Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau.

However, little French is spoken outside of Quebec and New Brunswick except for small pockets of communities throughout the country.

New Brunswick is the only province that is officially bilingual in Canada, as French is the singular official language in Quebec, and English is everywhere else. Continue…

A real estate agent in Saskatoon has to pay $3,000 after the province’s real estate governing body fined him for allegedly making transphobic comments on social media.

Realtor Murray Kurternbach made the comments on his public Facebook page last October. The post has since been deleted by Kurternbach.

“I won’t use someone’s pronouns for the same reason I won’t talk to a schizophrenic’s imaginary friends,” read one comment later shared on Reddit.

Another read, “a good kick in the balls will solve your gender confusion.”

These comments led to Kurtenbach being found guilty of breaching ethics with “conduct that is disgraceful, unprofessional or unbecoming of a registrant in the course of his or her practice.”

According to the June 6 decision, he “published posts on his Facebook page perpetuating transphobia” and “his posts were detrimental to the dignity of the trans community and to the public perception of the professionalism of the real estate industry as a whole.”

Quebec’s healthcare system has deteriorated to the point where patients seeking urgent care are simply abandoning emergency rooms due to excessive wait times.

Quebec residents are leaving hospital emergency rooms before seeing a health professional at an alarmingly rising rate amid unbearable wait times. The patients leaving before being attended to often have serious health concerns, according to the Montreal Economic Institute.

Between Apr. 1, 2023, and Feb. 24, 2024, 3,265,349 patients visited emergency rooms in Quebec. Of these patients, 376,460, or 11.5%, left before seeing a physician.

“That amounts to 1,140 Quebecers a day who were thus abandoned by the system,” reads the Montreal Economic Institute’s publication.

In memory of the departed educator Richard Bilkszto, a ceremony was held in Toronto to celebrate educators embodying the values he embraced in his life and career.

Bilkszto was a prominent Toronto school principal for multiple decades. He took his own life last July.

During a series of “equity sessions” led by the KOJO Institute’s Kike Ojo-Thompson, Bilkszto was singled out and harassed for daring to suggest that Canada might be a less racist country than the United States. Blitzko claimed the incident caused him severe mental distress before his death.

An organization called Friends of Richard Bilkszto organized an award ceremony and scholarship program to help celebrate current and future educators who embody many of the values that Bilkszto stood for in his life.

The EU has approved the transfer of €1.4 billion ($1.5 billion) in profits from Russia’s frozen assets as military assistance to Ukraine, the bloc’s foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell announced on Monday.

The statement was made at a press conference following a meeting of EU Council foreign ministers.

Western nations have frozen around $300 billion in Russian sovereign assets over the Ukraine conflict, around $280 billion of which is immobilized in the EU.

“The ministers today agreed on the legal framework for the allocation of the windfall profits from immobile Russian assets to the European peace facility. The windfall profits coming from Russian assets frozen in Europe, not the assets itself, will be used in the swiftest possible manner for the benefit of Ukraine,” Borrell said, noting that the €1.4 billion will be available over the next month, while another €1 billion will be forthcoming by the end of the year.

The money will be used to purchase air defense systems and ammunition for Ukraine, as well as support the country’s defense industry, according to Borrell.

Brussels’ proposal to seize the interest earned on the Russian assets to acquire weapons for Ukraine emerged earlier this year. However, the move faced resistance from Hungary, a vocal critic of the West’s approach to the Ukraine conflict and its arms shipments to Kiev in particular.

Borrell noted on Monday that Hungary cannot block the use of profits from the Russian assets for Ukraine, since it did not participate in the decision.

“We understand that, legally, since one member state didn’t participate in the decision to use these [immobilized] assets, it has not the right to participate in deciding to which purposes [the money] is allocated,” Borrell said, without providing further explanation. Continue…

Stewart was elected with 42.1% of the vote, narrowly edging out Liberal candidate Leslie Church. Stewart had a 590-vote lead over Church by the time all ballots were counted in the early hours of Tuesday morning. NDP candidate Amrit Parhar finished in a distant third with 10.9% of the vote.

Stewart’s election victory marks a huge shift in support in what was once considered a safe riding for the Liberals, who’ve won the seat in every election since 1993. In the 2021 general election, Liberal MP Carolyn Bennett was re-elected with 49.2% of the vote, compared to only 25.6% for the Conservative candidate.

Polls closed Monday at 8:30 p.m. Church was leading for most of the evening as ballots were slow to be counted and reported by Elections Canada. The last numbers did not come until 4:44 a.m. Tuesday morning, by which point Stewart had managed to overtake Church.

The last time a non-Liberal was elected in the riding was in 1988, when Progressive Conservative Prime Minister Brian Mulroney won his second majority government.

The head at a public library in British Columbia boasted that applications from white people were wholly disregarded when hiring for every executive position except her own.

Beth Davis, the chief librarian at Burnaby Public Library, stated in a mid-term report that when filling six job openings, the library rejected any résumés from white candidates.

Only non-white applicants were interviewed.

Though the Human Rights Code of B.C. bans discrimination against individuals based on “race, colour, or ancestry,” Burnaby Public Library received a five-year exemption to violate what otherwise would have been considered a human right – in the name of “equity.”

The B.C. Office of the Human Rights Commissioner website mentions a recognition that the “special program.” exemption curtails equality rights but is justified in the pursuit of “substantive equality,” which is commonly referred to as equity or equality of outcome.

“Equality means that each person is treated fairly and with dignity. It means that ‘no one is denied opportunities for reasons that have nothing to do with inherent ability,’” it said. “However, treating everyone the same can sometimes lead to discrimination against disadvantaged individuals or groups. Sometimes, to advance human rights objectives, we need to look at treating people differently.”

A group of approximately 50 protesters from the group “1 Million Voices for Inclusion” were gathered outside the venue on Saturday morning, with many prominently flying flags of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the BC General Employees’ Union.

Local B.C. NDP MLA Grace Lore was also present at the protest to pressure the Victoria Conference Centre into cancelling the conference and rejecting bookings from freedom-minded groups.

The protest quickly dwindled to a group of ten who wrote phrases such as “Hormones Save Lives,” and “Queer Liberation Now” in chalk on the pavement, as well as repeated scrawls of “Shame.”

Two provinces are still prospering from cutting taxes on fuel, as inflation in Saskatchewan and Manitoba rose at half the rate as the rest of the country.

While inflation in Canada rose 2.9% between May 2023 and May 2024, inflation in Manitoba grew by 1.3% and by 1.5% in Saskatchewan. No other provinces saw their consumer price index increase less than 2.6%, according to Statistics Canada’s most recent data.

The province where inflation rose the most was Nova Scotia, which saw its CPI increase by 3.7% between May 2023 and May 2024.

The task force was co-led by the Toronto Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police, along with various other local police services from Ontario.

Toronto Police Deputy Chief Robert Johnson emphasized that law enforcement is just one branch of the system.

“It’s really concerning that 44% of those arrested were out on bail at the time of their arrest, and 61% were subsequently released on bail yet again,” he said during the Toronto Police Service’s press conference.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax continues to accrue massive costs for the Canadian economy.

The carbon tax will cost the Canadian economy $11.9 billion in 2024, costing each Canadian an average of $295 in lost GDP, rising to $30 billion by 2030, or $678 per person, according to calculations by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

“The economic cost is the difference between what the GDP would be without the carbon tax minus the projected GDP with the carbon tax,” said Gage Haubrich, the CTF’s Prairie director.

The calculations come just weeks after the Liberals released carbon tax data they had previously kept secret, just moments before a motion compelling them to do so was to be debated in the House of Commons.

The complexity of the data led to various interpretations, which is why it took the CTF weeks to calculate. The Conservatives had previously issued a release claiming the tax would cost Canadians $30.5 billion by 2030, or $1,824 per person.

The Conservatives claimed that Trudeau had been hiding these figures for years, only deciding to release it once Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux testified that the Liberals had him under a gag order. Continue…

In 2015, he shared a stage with a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic fundamentalist group.

Dattani spoke at a series of “Israel Apartheid Week” events at British universities, promoting the boycott, divestment, and sanction of Israel, or what’s known as the BDS movement.

“Workers should boycott Israel and Israeli goods,” Dattani was quoted saying at the protest by the News Line, a Marxist outlet.

Dattani also protested outside the Israeli embassy in London as crowds reportedly chanted, “Zionism is terrorism” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” in 2012.

The program would offer former international students whose study permits have expired and rejected asylum claimants an application process to remain in Canada.

However, no such program has been finalized as the discussion between ministers remains ongoing and divisive. Miller said in the Globe interview that it may take months before anything is introduced.

In the meantime, Miller has chosen to take a pause on the matter as “views that I respect, people that care about these issues that are radically opposed and diametrically opposed, and not necessarily from people that (you) would necessarily think would have that thought process,” he said. There’s one political leader in Canada who is less popular than Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and it’s Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek.

According to recent data released by ThinkHQ Jyoti Gondek and the city council’s approval ratings have reached an all-time low in June 2024.

The data released tracked mayoral approval ratings since June 2014, when Naheed Nenshi held the role. At the time, Nenshi had an approval rating of 74%. This would plummet to 57% by May 2021, just before his tenure ended.

As of June 2024, Gondek’s approval rating was a mere 26%. In comparison, Trudeau’s latest approval rating was 28%.

“These ratings are unprecedentedly low. They’ve managed to break their own record for low approval ratings set in December of last year, and it seems driven primarily by negative public reactions to policies like the single-use bag bylaw and blanket rezoning,” said ThinkHQ President Marc Henry.

Among the 26% of Calgarians who approved of Gondek, only 7% strongly approved, while 19% somewhat approved of her performance.

Ontario MPP Goldie Ghamari has said she wasn’t aware of a controversial British activist’s history when taking a FaceTime meeting with him.

Goldie Ghamari deleted a post from X with screenshot from a virtual meeting she had with anti-mass immigration activist Tommy Robinson during his stay in Canada.

The National Council of Canadian Muslims called on Premier Doug Ford to kick the Iranian-Canadian MPP for Carleton out of Ontario’s Progressive Conservative caucus after speaking with Robinson, who they accuse of being“Islamophobic.”

“MPP Ghamari yesterday decided to post with herself and well-known Islamophobe and criminal Tommy Robinson,” the NCCM said, calling the meeting “completely unacceptable.”

“I condemn all forms of Islamophobia and Antisemitism. Hate has no place in Ontario,” Ghamari said on X after deleting her initial post. “I was not aware of Mr. Robinson’s history prior to our meeting.”

Finland plans to offer avian influenza vaccinations as soon as the week of June 30 to some workers with exposure to animals, health authorities said on June 25. That would make it the first country in the world to do so.

The Nordic country has bought vaccines for 10,000 people, each consisting of two injections, as part of a joint European procurement of up to 40 million doses for 15 nations from manufacturer CSL Seqirus.

“The vaccine will be offered to those aged 18 or over who are at increased risk of contracting avian influenza due to their work or other circumstances,” the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare said in a statement.

The H5N1 strain of avian influenza, or bird flu, has circulated for decades in birds but has recently jumped to other species, including cattle in the United States.

Three humans in the United States have had confirmed infections this year, while Finland has none.
