Update: Twitter CEO Elon Musk asked users to decide whether or not he should step down. The 12-hour poll just ended and he “lost” by 15-points with over 17 millions votes cast. Does this mean he’s going to step down?

Yes, it almost certainly means he will. While there is a chance that he can claim the vote was driven by bots, he has thus far abided by all previous “community decisions.” But perhaps more importantly, I believe he wanted to step down. He’ll still control the company as owner, so while the new CEO will handle day-to-day affairs, he will be able to do pretty much everything he can do now without the added responsibility of steering the ship.

US has put itself and Russia ‘on brink of direct clash’ – Moscow

The Biden administration is lying about maintaining contacts between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry says

Washington’s “dangerous and short-sighted policy” has put it “on the brink of a direct clash” with Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Monday, responding to US State Department spokesman Ned Price, who blamed Russia last week for making relations between the two countries “unstable and unpredictable.”

Moscow has “genuinely strived” to make relations with the US stable and predictable, even as Washington stokes tensions, Zakharova added.

“It is the US’ desire to maintain American hegemony at all costs… as well as its arrogant unwillingness to engage in a serious dialogue on security guarantees” that led to the current crisis, the spokeswoman said.

Russia is calling on the administration of US President Joe Biden to avoid further escalation, Zakharova said, adding that Moscow still wants to defuse tensions and is open to talking to the US at various levels.

However, the US is openly lying about maintaining contacts with Russia, Zakharova claimed. Last week, Price said that Secretary of State Antony Blinken still keeps in touch with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Zakharova called the statement a “banal lie,” adding that the last time the two diplomats spoke was July 29.

Amid the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Washington has provided massive amounts of financial and military aid to Kiev and has led the drive for sanctions on Moscow, which was also joined by US allies in the EU and elsewhere.

The conflict in Ukraine broke out after the US rejected Russia’s proposals for security guarantees in Europe, including a limit on NATO expansion to the east. Moscow repeatedly warned that Ukraine’s potential membership in the US-led military bloc would cross a red line and that arming Kiev would only prolong the conflict.

Biden Extends China’s Beneficial Access to US Markets – Labeled an “Insane and Treasonous” Move

Joe Biden continues to give in to the Chinese.

As TGP reported previously, in 2013, Vice President Joe Biden brokered a deal with China that gave the country access to US markets without having to comply with US compliance regulations that US companies had to comply with.

The Sarbanes-Oxley legislation costs US companies millions, if not billions, in compliance expenses since put in place after the Enron collapse in the early 2000s. For some reason, Biden thought Chinese companies should not have to comply with the requirements American companies are compelled to follow to ensure accurate financials and key controls throughout company operations worldwide. These controls are audited at least annually and at a significant cost to the entity. There are also significant costs to prepare for these audits.

Rather than ensure China’s companies were at least as accurate in their reporting and as well-controlled, Biden gave Chinese companies a pass. This deal allowed Chinese companies to obtain billions, if not trillions, in capital not available in China.

A short time later in 2013, China gave Hunter Biden – $1.5 billion to invest.

This past week the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), the same entity that China didn’t have to comply with based on Biden’s previous actions, had a vote on China. Biden will continue to give China access to US markets.

The PCAOB was proud to say:

For the first time in history, the PCAOB has secured complete access to inspect and investigate registered public accounting firms headquartered in mainland China and Hong Kong. And this morning the Board voted to vacate the previous determinations to the contrary.

This historic and unprecedented access was only possible because of the leverage Congress created by passing the Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act. Congress sent a clear message with that legislation that access to U.S. capital markets is a privilege and not a right, and China received that message loud and clear.

We will have to see what real authority the PCAOB will have in China. Will Chinese companies that are much higher risk than US companies, due in large part to the culture of dishonesty in China related to the CCP’s oversight of everything, have the same audits as US companies?

How will the PCAOB audit Chinese companies when they don’t speak the language?

This proposal sounds good but the practicality is very questionable.

Overall, Biden has allowed China’s unfettered access to US markets to continue. While the risk is still there.

Wisconsin’s Corrupt GOP Speaker Vos Kicks Election Integrity Warrior, Janel Brandtjen, Off of Election Committee

Wisconsin Speaker Robin Vos allowed the 2020 Election steal in Wisconsin to take place. Now he’s kicked a key Representative off the Elections Committee because of her efforts to get to the bottom of the stolen 2020 Election.

Channel 3000 in Wisconsin reported on Vos’s move.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has removed state Rep. Janel Brandtjen from the elections committee she had previously chaired.

While leading the committee, Brandtjen launched an investigation into the 2020 election in direct conflict with the probe headed by former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice Michael Gableman that Vos signed off on.

Brandtjen, R-Menomonee Falls, often butted heads with Vos, even endorsing his primary opponent in August. Last month, she was kicked out of the Republican caucus.

This isn’t corrupt Vos’s first action against Brandtjen. In November Vos kicked her out of his GOP caucus. What a piece of work.

North Carolina Supreme Court Rules Voter IDs Are Racist Because Minority Groups Don’t Know How to Get IDs or Something…

North Carolina’s far-left-biased Supreme Court did it again. These judges have no desire to uphold the US Constitution. They vote based on what they want and try to make it fit the law.

We’ve reported on the North Carolina Supreme Court’s biased ruling before.

In February a Democrat justice on the Supreme Court refused to recuse herself despite her former law partner arguing for the Democrats. This resulted in this court picking the district lines rather than the legislature.

Today HotAir reported on this court again. This time the Democrat-led court says that it won’t allow permitting voter IDs in North Carolina elections because it is racist to do so. The court just insinuated that the legislature that passed this law is racist and that is why North Carolina should not require voter IDs for voting like many states and the rest of the world.

In 2018, the North Carolina legislature passed a law that would create a new amendment to the state constitution requiring voter ID at all polling places. The law (Senate Bill 824) passed with significant support, primarily from Republicans who held a supermajority in the legislature and successfully overrode a veto by the governor. But this week, in one of the most self-contradictory rulings I’ve seen in quite a while, the state supreme court struck down the law, claiming that it was unconstitutional. Reading through the ruling is an exercise in confusion and nonsensical assumptions by the justices of the court. (The Hill)

North Carolina’s Supreme Court on Friday struck down a state voter ID requirement, finding that it was enacted with a racially discriminatory purpose and violated the state’s constitution.

Senate Bill 824 — which was passed by the state’s Republican-controlled legislature in 2018 over a veto from its Democratic governor — sought to implement a state constitutional amendment requiring photo ID to vote.

The court found that while the law appeared neutral on its face, it was enacted “to target African-American voters who were unlikely to vote for Republican candidates.”

The arguments being made here are identical to the ones we’ve heard from Democrats across the nation and they don’t make any more sense now than they did in the past. (Not that that’s ever stopped them from trying.) At the highest level of the court’s argument, they’re saying that the law is unconstitutional. But how do you declare something unconstitutional when it’s being put into the constitution?

The primary argument being made in this ruling is that the amendment was written “to target African-American voters who were unlikely to vote for Republican candidates.” So that’s crystal clear, right? They’re saying that the law is racist.

I remember once having dinner in Sydney, Australia, and mentioning that in the US voter IDs are not required and a guest from Spain was shocked that this is the case in the US.

Trump on Elections: Republicans ‘Have No Choice,’ ‘We Have to Fight’ like Democrats to Outdo them with Mail Voting, Ballot Harvesting

Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively here on Friday that Republicans must engage and fight Democrats on mail voting and ballot harvesting like the Democrats fight, saying the GOP has “no choice” but to “live with the system that stinks” for now until Republicans get back into power and can change it for the better.

To be clear, Trump still believes there should be systemic reform to the way elections are conducted. “The best thing would be same-day voting, paper ballots, voter ID, et cetera,” he said, reiterating points he has made in public remarks and in previous interviews with Breitbart News on this front.

He also bashed the mail voting and ballot harvesting system in play nationally as broadly “corrupt.”

“The system, it’s not a question of being broken — the system is corrupt,” Trump told Breitbart News. “It’s a corrupt system. A mail-in ballot will always be corrupt. When you go to a polling location and they want your identification and everything, the way — you can’t really vote unless it’s a legit deal. If you have mail-in ballots, nobody has any idea where it’s coming from or where it’s going to and then it travels through so many hands. Jimmy Carter came out a long time ago with a number of highly respected people and they wrote something, and the one thing that come out loud and clear is that mail-in ballots are corrupt. France had it, a lot of countries had it and they went away from it now.”

While Trump questioning these matters is not particularly new, the interesting and very new detail here is Trump recognizes that for now Republicans are not in the position they need to be at in government, at the federal or state and local levels, to be able to enact major reforms on this front. So, until such time as they can, Trump says now Republicans should continue to “shame” Democrats but recognize that the system is the way it is — but more importantly Trump says the GOP should actually compete with Democrats on this battlefield in elections and try to outdo the Democrats in the mail voting.

“You’re right,” Trump said when Breitbart News noted that Republicans cannot change the rules if they are not in power. “But you can shame the hell out of people and you can shame the Democrats. The Democrats know it’s corrupt and the Democrats should want to fix it but they don’t because they do have an advantage under that system. For the time, though, we have to live with the system that stinks so we have to fight it like they do, which is your question.”

When asked specifically if Republicans should compete with Democrats on mail voting and ballot harvesting where they are legal and in practice, Trump said the GOP has “no choice.”

Qatar Makes Threats Against EU Natural Gas Supply Over Bribery Accusations

Qatar has obliquely threatened to cut off the EU from its supply of natural gas amid claims that the Islamist nation bribed officials in Brussels.
