Police arrest 11 in Coutts after midnight raid

Eleven people were arrested after being involved in what the RCMP called a criminal organization.

Sunday night, RCMP say they obtained a search warrant for a house in Coutts, Alberta, the border village where truckers and farmers have been blocking border access for two weeks in protest of COVID-19 restrictions.

Eleven people were arrested after being involved in what the RCMP called a criminal organization; 13 “long guns” along with handguns, body armour, a machete and ammo were seized from the raided home and trailers.

Rebel News reporter Sydney Fizzard has been embedded in the blockade since January 30. Syd was on the scene in Coutts on Sunday night as police presence ramped up.

On Monday morning, the RCMP issued a press release stating:

An example of the militant mindset of a small segment of the protest, earlier in the evening, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a large farm tractor and a semi truck, both involved in the blockade, attempted to ram a police vehicle. The police officer was able to reposition and avoid the collision. RCMP officers followed the suspects to a location where the protesters were gathered. The driver of the tractor was identified and we are actively working to locate him so he can be taken into custody. The Alberta RCMP have seized the farm tractor and semi truck involved in this incident.

Last week, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney stated in a press conference that RCMP reported an assault against an officer. Rebel News reporter Kian Simone received a statement from the RCMP confirming no such assault happened. The assault was, in fact, a common motor vehicle fender bender.

The timing of the raid, the same day Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act, coupled with revelations that the RCMP vandalized three pieces of heavy equipment near the border protest, raises many questions.

It is important to note that no names or charges were released by police, nor has any evidence linking those arrested to the border protest.

The Emergencies Act, described as a “ temporary” measure to be used for an “urgent and critical situation” that "seriously endangers the lives, health or safety of Canadians” also needs a threat to justify it.

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Sunday that it's "time for people to go to jail" as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into FBI misconduct – prompting ex-Trump aide George Papadopoulos to sound a celebratory note on Twitter.

The comments came as Fox News learned this weekend that Jennifer Boone, a senior FBI official who oversaw the flawed probe into former Trump adviser Carter Page, has received a major promotion to lead a field office – and the bureau won't say why.

Meadows, during his Sunday interview with Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," also previewed the Trump administration's soon-to-be-released plans for reopening schools and implementing new economic stimulus measures. More details, Meadows said, would be coming this week.

However, Meadows' comments on the Durham probe were among his most suggestive yet. They followed Attorney General Bill Barr's comments to Fox News earlier this year that Durham's findings have been "very troubling" and that familiar names are currently being probed.

"I think the American people are expecting indictments," Meadows told anchor Maria Bartiromo. "I expect indictments based on the evidence I've seen. Lindsey Graham did a good job in getting that out. We know that they not only knew that there wasn't a case, but they continued to investigate and spy."

Internal FBI documents that emerged in April showed that Peter Strzok the now-disgraced anti-Trump former head of FBI counterintelligence ordered the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to remain open even after it was slated to be closed due to a lack of so-called "derogatory" information. Strzok pursued an investigation based on the Logan Act, a law never used in a successful prosecution and that was intended to prevent individuals from falsely representing the U.S. government abroad in a pre-telephone era.

"And yes, I use the word spy on Trump campaign officials and actually even doing things when this president was sworn in," Meadows continued. "And after that and doing in an inappropriate manner, you're going to see a couple of other documents come out in the coming days that will suggest that not only was the campaign spied on, but the FBI did not act appropriately as they were investigating. It's all starting to come unraveled. And I tell you, it's time that people go to jail and people are indicted."

The Justice Department's (DOJ's) watchdog has identified critical errors in every FBI wiretap application that it audited as part of the fallout from the bureau's heavily flawed investigation into former Trump adviser Carter Page, who was surveilled during the campaign in part because of a largely discredited dossier funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

The FBI repeatedly accused Page of being a "foreign agent" in its warrant applications. Page has not been charged with any wrongdoing, and the DOJ has since admitted that its warrant applications lacked probable cause and should not have been sought. ..

After a two-month search, Sessions was nominated to succeed William H. Webster as FBI Director by President Ronald Reagan and was sworn in on November 2, 1987.[6]

The selection of Judge Sessions (an "outsider" from Texas) as FBI Director was unpopular among upper management of the Bureau. However, Sessions was viewed as combining tough and informed direction with fairness, and was respected even by the Reagan administration's critics, although he was sometimes ridiculed as straitlaced and dull and lacking hands-on career FBI leadership experience (he was a career Federal judge). He worked to raise the image of the FBI in Congress and, among other issues, fought to raise the pay of FBI agents, which had lagged behind other law enforcement agencies.[6]

Despite being a Republican who was appointed by Reagan, Sessions disappointed the administration of US President George H. W. Bush, Republican, for not being sufficiently partisan, and he was also personally disliked by Attorney General Dick Thornburgh for similar reasons. Just before Bill Clinton was inaugurated as the 42nd President of the United States on January 20, 1993, allegations of ethical improprieties were formally made against Sessions. A report by outgoing Attorney General William P. Barr presented to the Justice Department that month by the Office of Professional Responsibility included criticisms, regarded as petty issues at the time, that he had used an FBI plane to travel (accompanied by wife, Alice) to visit their adult daughter (a member of the SF Ballet) on occasions that were incidental to official site visits to the FBI San Francisco field office, and had also purchased and had installed a commercial home security system at government expense (because for unknown reasons the GSA had postponed the required official system installation at the Session's residence).[7] Janet Reno, the 78th Attorney General of the United States, announced that Sessions had exhibited "serious deficiencies in judgment".[11] The Clinton White House had taken up the prior AG Barr's campaign to remove Judge Session from office on any grounds possible.
