Sweden sinks into political chaos as PM ousted in key vote
Stockholm: Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Lofven lost a confidence vote in parliament, toppling his minority coalition and plunging the largest Nordic economy into political chaos.
Lofven says he’ll now talk to his allies in parliament to figure out whether he can still patch together a viable coalition. Failing that, he may call a snap election, he said after losing Monday’s vote. If Swedes are forced to head to the polls early, it would be the first time since 1958. The Morning Briefing:Audit Everything Until the Stink From Last November Is Gone
We have spent a fair amount of time here in Morning Briefing Land talking about the steaming pile of horse dung that was the 2020 United States presidential election. I’ve been politely employing euphemisms like “irregularities,” and “anomalies,” because they’re easier than repeatedly writing “whatever the hell that was.”
Despite the ongoing efforts of the Democrats and their flying monkeys in the mainstream media to disenfranchise and silence 75 million people, we still keep asking questions about whatever the hell that was. Legitimate questions.
That’s the thing here. Any American truly interested in fair and free elections shouldn’t shy away from examining the kinds of things that happened last year. This, by the way, is different than Stacey Abrams running around acting like she’s the real governor of Georgia because feelings and stuff. There was a lot that went on last November that didn’t pass the smell test.
Last month I wrote about the audit in Maricopa County here in Arizona. I hadn’t been paying that much attention to it and I had just one question: why are the Democrats so afraid of it happening. If, as they claim, there were no “irregularities,” then why not welcome any chance to prove that?
Anything that can be done at this point to assuage the fears that many of us have about something being permanently amiss in our election processes needs to be done. That’s a two-pronged approach. Problems have to be identified, then they have to be corrected via legislation.
The Democrats don’t want any of that, however. Anything that’s being done to clean up last November’s mess is being stonewalled and mislabeled as “voting restrictions,” and, because they’re lazy and not very creative, “Jim Crow.”
They’re willing to grandstand and go to great lengths, like the Democrats in Texas:
Texas Governor Greg Abbott threatened to cut off funding for the legislature after Democrats walked out of the final session to prevent the passage of Abbott’s voter integrity bill.
The governor followed through on that threat yesterday and vetoed the sections of the state budget that fund legislative agencies and pay for lawmakers.
Abbott said in a statement that “Texans don’t run from a legislative fight, and they don’t walk away from unfinished business.”Funding should not be provided for those who quit their job early, leaving their state with unfinished business and exposing taxpayers to higher costs for an additional legislative session.”
That was a nice touch by Abbott there. Texas Dems say what he did was an “abuse of power,” but they didn’t find anything wrong with behaving like school children and shirking their responsibilities.
They’re also having a hissy fit over the fact that the state of Georgia is trying to clean up its voter rolls, which is not an unusual occurrence. In fact, it is something that’s done anywhere election integrity is a concern.
Some of the biggest stink from the last election came out of Pennsylvania, especially the Philadelphia area, which magically delivered the state to Joe Biden. Now it looks like a little bit of audit fever might be catching in the Keystone State:
Pennsylvania state Senator Dave Argall, who chairs the committee in charge of overseeing elections, told the Pennsylvania Capital-Star that a forensic audit was a “very real possibility.”
“There are a lot of things under consideration right now, and I told them to check back in a week or two and we hope to have some more detail,” Argall said regarding a meeting he had with activists who support the audit on Wednesday.
I’m not looking to overturn the 2020 election here. What I want is to ensure that my vote might have a chance of counting in future elections. The real voter suppression in America is being perpetrated by the Democrats who want elections that are almost free of rules that somehow always work out for them at the eleventh hour. They get a couple of those in a row and people like me start to lose sight of the point of voting because it would seem that our votes can’t compete with questionable voter rolls and mail-in ballots that appear out of the ether in just the right amounts to tip the election to the Democrat.
The 2020 election stink is still lingering lo these many months later. It’s time to scrub everything until it goes away.

Rental Nation: Depriving Americans of Home Ownership Could Be a Good Thing, Economist Says

The American dream of home ownership should be replaced by corporate investors snapping up houses and turning them into rentals, one economist is proposing.
Karl W. Smith, an adjunct scholar with the Tax Foundation and Bloomberg columnist, believes that scenario could be positive, even if he doesn’t address the fact home ownership is the main way for the middle class to build wealth.
Smith argues “a nation of renters is not something to fear. In fact, it’s the opposite.”
Smith lays out his argument, including citing the troubling statistic that the 64.3 percent of Americans who owned home in 2016 is the lowest percentage since the U.S. Census Bureau starting keeping track of that data in 1984.
And Smith gave a nod to former President Donald Trump, saying homeownership rebounded during his tenure to 66 percent, “but that trend is likely to be arrested by a housing market that is desperately short on supply and seeing month-over-month price increases greater than they were in the frenzied market of 2006.”
Smith argues that single family homes have historically been an “extremely illiquid asset.”
And, Smith says, the housing landscape has changed:
Houses have typically traded with very little liquidity premium. That meant a relatively low purchase price compared to what it would cost to rent — the equivalent of the dividend from housing investment — and stable prices over time. These two factors made houses a good investment for moderate-income families who often lacked the cash and the risk tolerance for market investments. As investments went, single-family homes were cheap and slowly grew in value in both good times and bad.
In the early 21st century, automated appraisals and mortgage underwriting began to change that. Combined with the repackaging of subprime loans into presumably safer CDOs, they created a far more liquid market for housing. In response, housing prices soared — and became more sensitive to the vagaries of the markets. When investors pulled out of CDOs, buyer financing dried up and the whole housing market crashed.
It may have seemed at the time like a failed experiment. But financialization had changed the housing market forever. Houses are now more prone to be priced high relative to rents, and to see their prices fluctuate with the market. The very features that made home buying an affordable and stable investment are coming to an end.
Smith also blames the change on people who chose to live in single-family home neighborhoods where their families have privacy and security and oppose forced diversity accomplished by installing multi-family units — “existing homeowners are reluctant to agree to development with unknowable effects on the value of their most precious investments. The result is less development — and sky-high rents for any residents not lucky enough to own their own home.”
Smith, however, clearly believes in revising the meaning of the American dream. He thinks corporate investors will see the financial benefits of buying up homes and renting them. And Americans could be more mobile if not tied down with a mortgage.
So he advocates for a nation of renters.
“The U.S. is not quite there yet, and not just because too many people are chasing too few apartments,” Smith concludes. “To see the U.S. as a nation of renters requires a revision of the American Dream of homeownership. This country was always more about new frontiers than comfortable settlements, anyway.”

Secret Docs Reveal Moderna Sent Coronavirus Vaccine To North Carolina University Weeks Before Pandemic
A confidentiality agreement shows potential coronavirus vaccine candidates were transferred from Moderna to the University of North Carolina in 2019, nineteen days prior to the official emergence of Covid-19 pandemic.
The confidentially agreement (read below) states that providers ‘Moderna’ alongside the ‘National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ (NIAID) agreed to tranfer ‘mRNA coronavirus vaccine candidates’ developed and jointly-owned by NIAID and Moderna to recipients ‘The Universisty of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’ on the 12th December 2019.

The material transfer agreement was signed the December 12th 2019 by Ralph Baric, PhD, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then signed by Jacqueline Quay, Director of Licensing and Innovation Support at the University of North Carolina on December 16th 2019.
The agreement was also signed by two representatives of the NIAID, one of whom was Amy F. Petrik PhD, a technology transfer specialist who signed the agreement on December 12th 2019 at 8:05 am.
The other signatory was Barney Graham MD PhD, an investigator for the NIAID, however this signature was not dated.
The final signatories on the agreement were Sunny Himansu, Moderna’s Investigator, and Shaun Ryan, Moderna’s Deputy General Councel. Both signautres were made on December 17th 2019.
All of these signatures were made prior to any knowledge of the emergence of the novel coronavirus. It wasn’t until December 31st 2019 that the World Health Organisation (WHO) became aware of an alleged cluster of viral pneumonia cases in Wuhan, China.
But even at this point they had not determined that an alleged new coronavirus was to blame, instead stating the pneumonia was of “unknown cause”.
It was not until January 9th 2020 that the WHO reported Chinese authorities had determined the outbreak was due to a novel coronavirus which later became known as SARS-CoV-2 with the resultant disease dubbed COVID-19.
So why was an mRNA coronavirus vaccine candidate developed by Moderna being transferred to the University of North Carolina on December 12th 2019?
Perhaps Moderna and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases would like to explain themselves in a court of law?

“Myopia is a major health issue around the world. The World Health Organization estimates that half of the population of the world may be myopic by 2050,” researchers write in their report in the journal JAMA Ophthalmology.
