Tinder Users Will Soon Be Given Background Checks on Potential Dates

Garbo is a female-founded, nonprofit tech company that serves as a background check platform that offers users the chance to obtain an individual’s history of violence or abuse. The New York-based company was established in 2018 with the goal of preventing gender-based violence.

Popular online dating application Tinder will soon begin offering its millions of users the opportunity to run background checks on a potential date, as part of a growing effort within the company to curb gender-based violence.

Match Group Partners, which owns Tinder and a slew of dating platforms such as Hinge and OKCupid, announced the new development on Monday and revealed that Tinder users will only need to provide a potential match’s first name, phone number, or their full name in order to run a background check.

Garbo has indicated that it’s background checks are composed of public records and any reports filed that detail violence or abuse, such as arrest reports, convictions and restraining orders, among other documentation.

“This valuable information, which is typically offered by for-profit companies, has historically been difficult to access and cost prohibitive,” reads the Monday announcement. “As a non-profit, Garbo democratizes access to information, allowing people to make more informed safety decisions.”

The new partnership came as Garbo recently announced that it had begun working with racial and gender equality groups to ensure that inequities in the US justice system are taken into account, and would not disproportionately affect individuals of color.

In fact, Garbo revealed last month that it would exclude drug possession charges from its reports. Citing statistics from both the US Justice Department and the NAACP, the company acknowledged that while Black and white Americans use illicit drugs at a similar rate, the imprisonment rate for Black Americans are six times higher than for white Americans.

At the time, Garbo also noted that it would not include traffic violations in its background checks, aside from cases involving DUIs and vehicular manslaughter. “Many studies have shown that race frequently affects a police officer’s decision to stop and ticket a motorist,” the company previously explained.

The background check feature is expected to come at a cost to users; however, it’s presently unclear how much the fee may amount to or how it will be incorporated into the platform.

Teams with both Garbo and Tinder are expected to begin testing and building the function over the next several months. Once the new background check capability is able to fully integrate with Tinder, other companies under the Match Group Partners will follow shortly after.

Tinder and similar online dating apps have long been criticized for serving as a breeding ground for gender-based violent behavior.

The CEO of Canadian phone encryption firm Sky Global and an associate have been indicted by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) for “helping drug traffickers evade law enforcement” by allowing them to encrypt their phones. Similar privacy-invasive charges have been filed in Europe.

It’s now becoming clear that authorities want to completely remove the right to privacy.

Phone encryption software providers usually work with Blackberry phones, but have more recently started working with Android phones, and install their own custom messaging apps that route texts through an encrypted infrastructure.

Criminals can evade charges because once their phones are seized, a remote wipe feature gets rid of all the evidence on their devices. These companies charge a premium fee, usually in the region of thousands of dollars, for their services.

Former Gates Vaccine Scientist Predicts Mass Genocide

A former Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Senior Program Officer in Vaccine Discovery, former Head of the Vaccine Development Office for the German equivalent of the CDC, and university professor, has released an open letter to the scientific community and to the world warning that the present mass vaccination program may "wipe out large parts of our human population."

Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche writes in his Open Letter, which he submits to the world science community for open discussion:

"…it's becoming increasingly difficult to imagine how the consequences of the extensive and erroneous human intervention in this pandemic are not going to wipe out large parts of our human population. China-linked hackers exploited SolarWinds software in 2020 breach, researchers say

Suspected Chinese spies exploited popular enterprise software built by SolarWinds in a hacking operation last year, Dell-owned Secureworks said Monday, a conclusion that follows news that Russian hackers also leveraged SolarWinds technology.

The suspected Chinese attackers had access to an unnamed private sector organization as early as 2018. Upon being evicted by incident responders, the hackers broke back into the organization in November 2020 by exploiting SolarWinds software, according to Secureworks.

The findings underscore the premium that multiple sets of foreign operatives have apparently put on accessing valuable organizational data held by the SolarWinds Orion network monitoring software. The disclosure comes as U.S. organizations are also coping with another suspected Chinese spying operation that exploits Microsoft Exchange Server software to steal organizations’ emails.

In both the suspected Russian and Chinese schemes involving SolarWinds, the attackers wrote malicious code tailored to exploit the Orion platform and sift through data stored on it. Austin-based SolarWinds has issued software updates addressing the security issues.

The suspected Chinese hackers siphoned off credentials the victim organization used to manage its network, and then accessed sensitive files hosted in Microsoft 365 software, according to Secureworks.

With long-running access to the target organization, the hackers “would have been able to access intellectual property and data on customers of the victim, both of which would help with espionage goals,” Don Smith, senior director of cyber intelligence at Secureworks, said in an email.

Smith’s team is not certain the attackers are based in China. They did, however, find some evidence linking the activity to China, including a Chinese IP address that the attackers apparently inadvertently exposed.

The alleged Russian hacking, which has infiltrated nine U.S. federal agencies, has gotten much more attention because some 18,000 organizations downloaded the malicious code used by the attackers. By contrast, the breach of the private firm is the only set of intrusions that Secureworks has tied to the possible Chinese hacking group, dubbed Spiral.

Microsoft said in December that a second hacking group had exploited the SolarWinds software in an operation distinct from that of the alleged Russians. Microsoft did not identify the group, but described hacking tools that Spiral also used, including a malware known as Supernova.

“The group could be characterized as a classic [advanced persistent threat] actor, stealthily living off the land using native tools,” Smith said.

While malicious hackers have dug into the Orion platform, so, too, have other researchers.

Analysts at Trustwave in February revealed two critical Orion bugs, one of which would have given an attacker a similar level of control over the software that the alleged Russians enjoyed.

“This report references an incident where a network was first compromised in a way that was unrelated to SolarWinds,” a SolarWinds spokesperson said in a statement. “That breach enabled the attackers to add the malicious Supernova code to Orion software on the customer’s network. It is important to note that Supernova is not associated with the broad and sophisticated supply chain attack that targeted multiple software companies as vectors.”

Governor Cuomo’s COVID-19 policies for the weak and aged in New York last year led to tens of thousands dead in nursing homes and other facilities throughout the state. The cost on workers in these facilities was also great.

We reported in 2020 on the absurd policies New York Governor Andrew Cuomo mandated for the state that led to tens of thousands of deaths in New York.

We presented a number of articles related to Cuomo’s actions with COVID in the state. Then last week we reported that the workers in these facilities did not want to work them and were forced and coerced to do so.

Now another report at the Washington Examiner indicates that there were over 10,000 workers at the elderly and disabled person facilities that caught COVID-19 and over 30 of these workers died as a result. Tori Richards at the Washington Examiner reports that the number of workers in New York facilities was staggering:

The coronavirus infected 10,311 care workers, killing 32, who are forced to staff New York state group homes with a practice of co-mingling healthy and sick residents, according to a Washington Examiner investigation.

According to multiple whistleblowers who spoke with the Washington Examiner, employees were deceived, intimidated, and threatened into staffing infectious facilities within New York’s 7,000-home network, which had the same policies as Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s nursing homes. New, infected residents were allowed into healthy homes, but the disease was spread throughout the network by staff who rotated in and out of infected homes.

The situation in New York was horrible. It was the worst in the nation and the world. Much of this could have been avoided if Governor Cuomo would have protected the high-risk candidates from COVID-19 rather than immerse them in COVID-19 contaminated facilities.
