The order recommends administering the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine in three shots in separate visits.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Aug. 10 calling for spacing out childhood vaccines.

The order recommends administering the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine in three shots in separate visits.

“The Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations also recognize that the combined measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine should be administered in three separate single-disease shots once such products are domestically available and that, to the maximum extent feasible, all childhood immunizations should be administered at separate medical visits,” the order states.

The executive order calls for the attorney general to take “appropriate measures to further meritorious legal actions challenging state laws that conflict with states’ constitutional and Federal statutory obligations related to parental authority, religious freedom, disability accommodations, and equal protection under the law, including, to the extent applicable under Federal law, States’ obligations to provide religious and medical exemptions from childhood and adolescent immunization requirements.”

Public health experts say that vaccination delays could increase the chances that children are infected with diseases that vaccines can prevent before they return for their next appointment.

States, not the federal government, have the authority to require vaccinations for schoolchildren—even though the order calls for revised vaccine recommendations.

Polls show that most Americans support school vaccine requirements, but Republicans are less likely than Democrats to view them as important.

Amid speculation that vaccines may be linked to autism, Trump has recently increased pressure on Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to determine what causes autism, a goal Kennedy previously vowed to pursue through new research announced last year. During a Cabinet meeting last month, Trump asked Kennedy for an update on the research.

“How are you doing on the autism research?” Trump asked.

“We will have an answer for you,” Kennedy said.

Some doctors and scientists say vaccines do not cause autism, pointing to research on the matter, such as a 2015 paper in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Others maintain that it’s an open question or highlight other research, such as a 2026 preprint, that indicates a link.

Trump’s executive order comes as kids return or are about to return to school.

The order also directs the Department of Justice, Department of Education, and Department of Health and Human Services to “take appropriate action to ensure that their contractors and grantees, including States and localities, are compliant with their constitutional and federal statutory obligations.”

The executive order is a win for the Make America Healthy Again movement, which has expressed skepticism of mandatory vaccines.

During the signing, Trump criticized what he called “72 jabs for ... beautiful, healthy, lovely delicate little children.”

Trump called for only 11 key vaccines. He said spreading out the shots was critical and said children should get their shots in one year with five separate visits.

Fauci himself raised the alarm about the second dose, writing that because “many people have significant cytokines storm and fever after the 2nd dose, this theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester.” Walensky replied that it was “definitely a good point, esp after dose two.”

Then Murthy piled on. In a follow-up text, the man who would soon become Biden’s Surgeon General responded to Fauci’s concern by adding: “I’ve been hearing the concern about the mRNA causing mutations in the developing fetus as well. That’s a really good point re the cytokine storm post second dose.”

The very next day, Murthy flagged a World Health Organization announcement advising against pregnant women taking the Moderna vaccine due to lack of data, asking Fauci and Walensky for their take because “I imagine we will all get asked about this.”

Fauci responded by emphasizing the need to weigh risks against COVID itself and claimed more than 10,000 pregnant women had already been vaccinated with “no issues.”

Fast forward just days later. On February 3, 2021, Fauci publicly declared the FDA had found “thus far… no red flags about that, about pregnant women.”

By August 2021 he was even more aggressive, insisting there was “no indication whatsoever” of any increase in adverse issues and that it was “pretty clear that pregnant women should get vaccinated.”

Murthy followed the same script, later telling the public the vaccines were safe at any stage of pregnancy and that it was “all the more important” for pregnant women or those trying to conceive to get the shot.

“It’s all the more important for you to get vaccinated if you are pregnant or if you are trying to become pregnant … The data points show that the vaccines are safe during these various stages before and during pregnancy … They found generally that anytime during your pregnancy is actually fine [to get the vaccine], and that’s why the recommendation is just to get it,” said Murthy.

President Donald Trump scored a significant legal victory Monday in his $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC after a federal judge allowed him to amend his complaint over the broadcaster’s controversial editing of his January 6, 2021 speech.

U.S. District Judge Roy K. Altman granted Trump’s request for leave to file a First Amended Complaint in Trump v. British Broadcasting Corporation, rejecting the BBC’s effort to block the move.

The ruling also rendered the BBC’s existing motion to dismiss the case “moot,” forcing the broadcaster to respond to Trump’s revised allegations once they are filed.

Trump sued the BBC in December in his personal capacity, accusing the broadcaster of defamation and violating Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.

He is seeking $5 billion under each claim, for a total of $10 billion in damages.

Trump’s attorneys sought permission to revise the original complaint, while the BBC argued that the president had missed the applicable deadline.

The broadcaster also accused Trump’s legal team of using the amendment strategically to avoid financial disclosures.

Altman rejected the BBC’s objections and gave Trump permission to move forward with the revised complaint.

Trump’s legal team celebrated the decision as a major step forward in the case.

“Today’s strong and thoughtful ruling is a major win for President Trump’s powerhouse lawsuit against the formerly respected and now disgraced BBC, which defamed President Trump by intentionally, maliciously and deceptively doctoring his speech in a brazen attempt to interfere in the 2024 Presidential Election,” a spokesman for Trump’s legal team said.

“President Trump is holding the leftist BBC, along with all of its comrades in the mainstream media, accountable for their peddling of Fake News through deception and maliciously defamatory conduct.”

The lawsuit centers on the BBC’s 2024 “Panorama” documentary, “Trump: A Second Chance?”

The documentary featured an edited version of Trump’s January 6, 2021, speech that combined remarks delivered nearly an hour apart.

The resulting sequence made it appear that Trump told supporters they were going to walk to the Capitol and “fight like hell” as part of a continuous statement.

“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol,” Trump was shown saying in the documentary.

“And I’ll be there with you. And we fight — we fight like hell.”

But that was not how Trump delivered the remarks.

Trump actually said: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol.

“And we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them, because you’ll never take back our country with weakness.

“You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.”

Trump did not use the phrase “fight like hell” until 54 minutes later, when he was speaking about fighting for election integrity.

Teva Pharmaceuticals has asked a US judge to bar insurer Humana from telling jurors that the company is Israeli during a major drug price-fixing trial, arguing that public sentiment surrounding the Israeli war on Gaza could unfairly influence the proceedings and undermine its right to a fair trial.

In a filing submitted Wednesday to a federal court in Philadelphia, the Tel Aviv-based company argued that its country of origin has no relevance to allegations that it participated in a conspiracy to inflate generic drug prices, which is the central issue in the case.

Teva, one of Israel's largest pharmaceutical companies, is among several drug manufacturers scheduled to stand trial in the long-running litigation. The trial is expected to begin on 15 September and conclude by late October.

“In the period of almost three years since the start of the Gaza War, anything connected with Israel has been subject to the highest levels of controversy, with emotions running high,” Teva said in its filing.

The company also stated that its corporate origin is unrelated to the allegations in the lawsuit and that “references to a foreign parent company are potentially prejudicial.” Teva's US-based subsidiary is the named defendant in the case.
