Pentagon Awards Contracts To 4 Artificial Intelligence Developers

The contracts with Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, and xAI come with a ceiling of $200 million each, to accelerate the military’s adoption of AI systems.

The office said these four companies would help “develop agentic AI workflows across a variety of mission areas.”

“Agentic AI” refers to systems designed to operate with minimal human input.

Formed in 2021, the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office is responsible for speeding up the military’s adoption of AI systems.

OpenAI was the first of the four contract awardees to announce its contract with the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office.

In June, the company unveiled “OpenAI for Government” and said its first partnership under the new initiative would help the Pentagon office identify and prototype new AI tools for administrative operations.

Anthropic has developed the Claude family of AI chatbots.

In June, Anthropic announced the development of custom “Claude Gov” models intended for national security clients.

The company said agencies operating at the highest level of the U.S. national security sector are already using these AI models.

Formed by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk in 2023, xAI serves as a parent to X Corp., which operates the social media platform X. Among its services, xAI has developed the Grok AI chatbot.

Israel Just Started ANOTHER War.

Israel has a series of major military strikes against the Syrian capital of Damascus and against a tank unit that was approaching Syria’s southern city of Suweida. The city is predominantly Druze—a religious minority group that the Israelis say they intend to protect. The strikes in Damascus targeted and destroyed the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff Headquarters of the Syrian military.

Notably, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s long-running corruption trial has been adjourned as a result of the strikes.

The renewed conflict, which could reignite hostilities across the region, stems from what began as a Sunni Bedouin attack on the Druze population of Suweida. This escalated as Syrian government forces appeared poised to join the Bedouin tribal fighters against the Druze, who are alleged to remain loyal to the ousted Assad regime.The Israeli military confirmed the operation, stating it was a “message to [Syrian President Ahmed] al-Sharaa regarding the events in Suweida.” Israel has also targeted Syrian tanks and conducted drone strikes over the past three days, killing regime soldiers.

Israel has drawn a red line in southern Syria, vowing to protect the Druze minority from what it sees as renewed oppression by the Syrian regime. However, Netanyahu has warned Druze from the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, attempting to cross into Syria, “Do not cross the border. You are risking your lives; you could be murdered, you could be taken hostage, and you are impeding the efforts of the IDF.”

Many in the Druze community remain wary of appearing aligned with Israel. Nevertheless, the ongoing violence, sparked by a robbery involving Bedouin tribesmen and escalating into sectarian warfare, has forced many to seek outside help. Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, a leading Druze spiritual figure, has publicly appealed for international intervention.The Assad regime’s fall left a power vacuum in southern Syria. Damascus has struggled to reassert control, and its attempt to reenter Suweida over the weekend was met with fierce resistance from local militias. A ceasefire announced Tuesday collapsed within hours.The Syrian interior ministry insists the only solution is the reintegration of Suweida into the central state. But ongoing attacks on Druze fighters and civilians have fueled resentment. Civilians trapped in Suweida report being cut off from power and supplies, with snipers making the streets deadly.

President al-Sharaa, previously known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammad al-Julani, is a Sunni jihadist previously wanted by the U.S., whose Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) is an offshoot of al-Qaeda previously aligned with the Islamic State. In addition to persecuting Druze, al-Sharaa’s regime has also overseen massacres of Syria’s Christians, who were largely protected by Assad.

Attorney and legal scholar Alan Dershowitz, who once represented Jeffrey Epstein, says the disgraced late billionaire did not maintain a “client list” or work for foreign intelligence, but may have had help killing himself.

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Dershowitz wrote:

Epstein never created a “client list.” The FBI interviewed alleged victims who named several “clients.” These names have been redacted. They should be disclosed but the courts have ordered them sealed. I know who they are. They don’t include any current officeholders. We don’t know whether the accusations are true. The courts have also sealed negative information about some of the accusers to protect them. Neither the Justice Department nor private defense lawyers are free to disregard court sealing orders. The media can and should petition the courts for the release of all names and information so the public can draw its own conclusions.

It is clear from the evidence that Epstein committed suicide. What isn’t clear is whether he was assisted by jail personnel. That seems likely to me, based on the evidence of allegedly broken cameras, transfer of his cellmate and the absence of guards during relevant time periods.

I have absolutely no doubt that Epstein never worked for any intelligence agency. If he had, he would surely have told me and his other lawyers, who would have used that information to get him a better deal. (He wasn’t satisfied with the so-called sweetheart deal he got, which required him to spend 1½ years in a local jail and register as a sex offender.) My sources in Israel have confirmed to me that he had no connection to Israeli intelligence. That false story—recently peddled by Tucker Carlson—probably emanated from credible allegations that Robert Maxwell (1923-91), father of Epstein’s former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, worked with the Mossad.

Last week, Dershowitz said that he knew the names of the individuals in files about the Epstein cases, but was bound by attorney-client privilege and other agreements not to reveal them.That led some to conclude that there was, after all, a “client list,” but Dershowitz’s op-ed clarifies that he was referring to alleged perpetrators and victims.

Dershowitz also said that President Donald Trump had not done anything “improper or even questionable” with regard to Epstein, noting that he had barred Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.

Democrats have a mortgage fraud problem, and feds are on the case

Who is above the law? Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on Tuesday became the most prominent of Trump’s adversaries to face allegations of wrongdoing, facing findings of mortgage fraud.

The Trump administration and the law enforcement community under his watch appear to have found opponents’ legal weak spot: an emerging pattern of mortgage fraud that seems common in the political sphere. The increase in instances, moreover, appears to have turned the tables on a number of prominent Democrats who — in the name of equal justice and saving democracy — pursued legal actions against President Donald Trump while he was out of office.

Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on Tuesday became the latest and most prominent of Trump’s adversaries to face allegations of wrongdoing, following a finding from Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division that he engaged in an apparent pattern of mortgage fraud. Similar allegations arose against New York Attorney General Letitia James earlier this year. Both were prominent proponents of legal cases against the former president.

The charges, however, may face some complications in light of legal developments in a related case last week. The Biden administration raised the same issue against former Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby, though the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit overturned her conviction on Friday.

Nevertheless, the mortgage fraud issue appears to be an increasingly prominent legal Achilles heel for politicians, one of which the Justice Department may prove eager to aim at.

Trump, for his part, expressed the belief that the cases appeared to be “open and shut” but insisted the decision to bring charges lay with the DOJ.

“Well, I just saw it and I think the thing with Adam Schiff is very serious, and I think that what they have on Letitia James is very serious,” Trump told Real America’s Voice White House correspondent Brian Glenn at a press gathering. "But I have to leave that up to the district attorneys and to the prosecutors and to the attorney general, most importantly,” he said.

“I was a little surprised. I thought he would have covered his bases a little bit better than that,” Trump added, referencing Schiff.

Adam Schiff

The California senator rose to prominence as an impeachment manager for the House in 2019 as part of Trump’s first impeachment trial over his alleged attempt to extort Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into releasing material on the Biden family.

Though Trump was acquitted, Schiff moved on to greater fame within the Democratic ranks and increased media attention, and managed to claim a Senate seat in 2024, following the death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

Trump quipped that Schiff deserved “justice” following a finding from Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division that Schiff engaged in a pattern of possible fraud.

"I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist. And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud," Trump posted on Truth Social on Tuesday.

"Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA," he added. "I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020. Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice."

So far, however, the DOJ has not disclosed whether it has initiated any proceedings against Schiff, and it remains unclear whether charges will be forthcoming.

Schiff, for his part, deemed Trump’s comments a “letdown” due to his previous calls to arrest him on more severe charges.

“Since I led his first impeachment, Trump has repeatedly called for me to be arrested for treason,” he said. “So in a way, I guess this is a bit of a letdown. And this baseless attempt at political retribution won’t stop me from holding him accountable. Not by a long shot.”

Letitia James

The New York State Attorney General pursued a civil fraud case against Trump last year, alleging that he manipulated the value of his assets to secure favorable loan terms and lower insurance premiums. The non-jury trial saw Judge Arthur Engoron issue a finding that Trump did engage in fraud. He further levied a fine of more than $450 million. Trump's lawyers filed an appeal, which is ongoing. The case was brought by James in her capacity as the state's top legal watchdog, and not by the lenders with which Trump was doing business.

In April of this year, James herself became the subject of a referral to the Department of Justice over alleged mortgage fraud. U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte issued the referral.

"Based on media reports, Ms. Letitia James has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government-backed assistance and loans and more favorable loan terms," he wrote to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

"This has potentially included 1) falsifying residence status for a Norfolk, Virginia-based home in order to secure a lower mortgage rate and 2) misrepresenting property descriptions to meet stringent requirements for government-backed loans and government assistance."

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed in May that James was the subject of an active investigation, telling CNN that “this case, I can tell you, is being handled by our professional pros who are subject-matter experts, reporting directly to headquarters, which reports to (Deputy Director Dan Bongino) and I.”

Marilyn Mosby

The Trump administration hasn’t been the only one to explore mortgage fraud against political figures. Under the Biden administration, former Baltimore state attorney Marilyn Mosby was convicted on counts of perjury and mortgage fraud, though she avoided jail time and received 12 months home confinement.

Notably, Mosby’s mortgage fraud conviction was overturned on Friday by the federal 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. That panel wrote that "the district court gave the jury an erroneous venue instruction and because the weight of the evidence did not support the jury's finding,” CBS News reported.

Mosby was convicted in 2022 in connection with a mortgage application for a condo in Florida. The court upheld her perjury convictions and she is facing disbarment proceedings. The Maryland Supreme Court ruled in 2023 after her conviction that she could keep practicing law while her case was on appeal, but now that her perjury convictions have been upheld, her law license may be in jeopardy.

Huckabee Blasts ‘Terrorist’ Jewish Extremists Who Beat Palestinian-American Christian to Death

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee spoke out Tuesday against what he called a terror attack against a Palestinian-American Christian by Jewish extremists who have clashed both with local Arabs and the Israeli military.

A rebuke from Huckabee — a friend of Israel who has said, before taking office, that Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) should be annexed by the Jewish state — will draw attention from the Israeli government, which has been flummoxed by a recent outbreak of violence between Jewish settlers and a Palestinian Christian village.

There has long been an extremist fringe among Jews in Judea and Samaria — the so-called “hilltop youth,” who often start illegal settlements, confront Palestinian farmers, and clash with the Israeli military. Some refuse to acknowledge the Israeli flag or the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as legitimate.

They are arrested and sometimes prosecuted, but Israeli officials are often reluctant to pursue them because of the degree to which the rest of Israeli society feels embattled by the overall conflict with the Palestinians and Islamic terror.

Recently, local Christian leaders accused Israel of allowing the extremists to harass Palestinians. An Israeli judge slammed local police when they claimed not to have known about people being killed in local clashes.

In the past, there have been Palestinian-Americans who have been injured or killed in clashes with Israeli authorities, but in many of those cases, the deceased were participating in violent demonstrations. This does not appear to have been such a case.

But basically, it’s lying on a mortgage application to get more favorable loan terms. When you say it’s your primary residence, you get a more favorable loan term than if it’s a rental residence or something else.

What’s really interesting about this—Adam—this was not just coming from President Trump. In 2023, CNN reported on this issue.He’s, on one hand, saying he’s a resident of California to run for office—to run for the House, and then for the Senate—and also taking a deduction in California based on claiming residency in California.

For the IRS, also, you can’t claim residency in both California and Maryland. He’s got a lot of issues, because it seems like, however this breaks down, it looks like he’s saying one thing here, one thing there. He can’t be a resident in both places. So it’s either: was he lying in California, or lying in Maryland to get more favorable loan terms?

But the irony is so rich here—with all of the Adam Schiff stuff: Russiagate, the first impeachment, and now this. It’s pretty funny. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that President Trump announced on Tuesday that loathsome Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) has been caught allegedly committing mortgage fraud by Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division. “I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud.”

“Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA,” Trump added.” I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. Could Maryland soon have another Senator claiming to be from California representing them in the near future?

Cristina Laila revealed last month that Gavin Newsom’s senate replacement,radical Marxist lesbian Laphonza Butler, actually lives in the Old Line State rather the Golden State. She was even registered to vote there last year.

Butler replaced the late Dianne Feinstein, who passed away in late September. Butler announced last month she would not run for a for a full six-year term. She will instead just serve out the remainder of Feinstein’s term which expires in 2024.

It turns out lying pencil-neck Adam Schiff, who wants to replace Butler, has a very similar problem. He too has claimed his primary residence as Maryland.

CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski and Em Steck reported that his primary residence is a large 3,420 square-foot home based in Tony Montgomery County. He reportedly maintains a little condo in Burbank, California as another “primary” residence likely to reduce his tax bill. It’s questionable whether he even goes there.

Kaczynski and Steck say tax records show he paid California property taxes using his Maryland address. Moreover, they reveal more records and photos on his social media accounts which show Schiff actually makes his full-time home in Maryland.

For more than a decade, California Senate hopeful Rep. Adam Schiff has claimed his primary residence is a 3,420 square foot home he owns in Maryland, according to a review of mortgage records.

At the same time, Schiff has for years taken a homeowner’s tax exemption on a much smaller 650 square foot condo he owns in Burbank, California, also claiming that home as his primary residence for a reduction in his tax bill of $7,000. He did not take an exemption on his home in Maryland.

While Schiff has signed documents asserting both the Maryland property and the significantly smaller Burbank condo as his primary residences, tax records indicate that he paid his California property taxes in 2017 with a check featuring his Maryland address – the only year he paid with a personal check. And a review of past comments, pictures shared on his public social media, and records indicate Schiff makes his full-time home in Maryland.

==But wait, there’s more! The deed records demonstrate that Schiff first designated the Maryland home as his primary residence in 2003. Schiff then refinanced his mortgage in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 while continuing to claim the Maryland house as his primary home.

The Los Angeles County deed records for Schiff’s Burbank condo, which were purchased in 2009, were notarized in Maryland according to CNN. In addition, the state: California and the county: Los Angeles are crossed out on one page of the deed. Maryland and Montgomery County are written in.==

CNN also reports that the records list Schiff’s Maryland home as an address the records are being returned to.

This potential scandal could create headaches for Schiff assuming Democrat primary voters care at all. He faces stiff competition from radical left favorites such as Rep. Katie Porter and Rep. Barbara Lee for Butler’s seat.

Schiff would arguably be the absolute worst choice considering his role in spreading the despicable Russia collusion hoax to discredit President Trump’s historic 2016 election win. Then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy kicked him off the House Intelligence Committee as punishment back in January.

Congress also voted to censure him in March to the Democrats’ dismay. Why is Congress not referring him to law enforcement. Why do they think censuring House or Senate members is legal. Many of those people steal the Congress money and spend on themselves personally. That's all they do to criminals is censure them, but they kicked Matt Gaetz nothing, and he wasn't stealing anything. Congress thinks the laws don't apply to them.

Attorney General Ken Paxton is announcing an investigation into Mars, Incorporated (“Mars”), which makes M&M’s and Skittles, for deceptive trade practices that violate Texas consumers’ rights.

In 2016, Mars publicly pledged to “remove all artificial colors from its human food products.” The company later chose not to remove the toxic dyes from products sold in the U.S. but did remove artificial colors from its products distributed in Europe.

“Mars must remove toxic artificial dyes from its U.S. food products not only to honor its public commitment and ensure that it stays on the right side of the law, but also because it’s the right thing to do,” said Attorney General Paxton. “It’s clear that the movement to remove artificial colorings from our food supply is making incredible progress, and it’s time for Mars to follow the lead of other companies like Nestle and Hershey by removing synthetic dyes from its products. For the health of Texans and all Americans, Mars must fulfill its 2016 pledge to get rid of these toxic ingredients.”

Attorney General Paxton has been a nationwide leader in fighting alongside Secretary Kennedy and President Trump to help Americans get healthier by holding accountable big food companies who violate the law and deceive consumers about their ingredients. It's 30 years since Robert Maxwell’s naked body was found in the sea off the Canary Islands, his death a mystery which endures to this day.

The media mogul, whose company owned the Daily Mirror, had been reported missing by the crew of his luxury yacht hours before the discovery.

But Maxwell, a larger-than-life and celebrated figure, soon went from hero to villain as it was found that he had looted millions from the Mirror pension fund to prop up his debt-ridden business empire.

His treachery condemned many of his workers to poverty and left his newspapers on the verge of collapse.

With the Spanish authorities ruling out foul play and the family insisting he would never take his own life, conspiracy theories abound to this day.

Here, former Daily Mirror reporter John Jackson recalls being at the centre of the storm which gripped the world...

Within hours of arriving for work on Tuesday, November 5, 1991, editor Richard Stott relayed the astonishing news that publisher Robert Maxwell had been lost overboard from his yacht Lady Ghislaine and I was on my way to find him and support family members.

With Bonfire Night plans scrapped, photographer Ken Lennox and I took the lift to the roof of the building next to the Mirror, then at London’s Holborn Circus.

Maxwell had bought the site to provide himself with a luxury office and helicopter pad.

His copter landed and on board were his wife Betty, dressed completely in black, and Philip, the eldest of the Maxwell’s remaining seven children (two died in childhood).

Nothing was said as we hovered over Fleet Street and headed to Farnborough Airport in Hampshire where we boarded one of the family’s Gulfstream jets for the flight to the Canaries.

Around an hour later a message was relayed to the pilot that a body had been found in the sea and we were diverted to a military base near Las Palmas.

At that moment Betty told me: “Whatever has happened, I can assure you he did not kill himself. He would never do that.”

We taxied up to the hangar where the body was waiting in the air-sea rescue helicopter.

A request for 70-year-old Betty to climb aboard and make an identification was instantly rebuffed.

She told them to bring the body into a nearby room.

As this was being arranged – with difficulty as Maxwell was very overweight – the rescue pilot told Betty and me: “I have plucked many bodies from the sea and I just want to tell you he did not drown. There was no water in his lungs.”

I then escorted Betty and Philip to view the body of my boss.

His skin hadn’t discoloured or wrinkled but what intrigued me was that he was lying with his arms up either side of his head and his hands were clenched.

As a father of four it reminded me of how babies often fall asleep.

It was certainly Robert Maxwell. Betty relayed this to editor Stott and the front page headline next morning was “The Man Who Saved The Mirror”. Little did we know of the revelations to follow...

From the airport we were driven to board the Lady Ghislaine and start three hectic days with only one thought dominating Betty’s mind.

She was determined to get the body released so we could fly it to Jerusalem and arrive before sunset on Friday. Jewish tradition dictates a body must be buried as soon as possible.

But we would not be able to land on the Sabbath – Saturday, meaning the burial would be delayed until Sunday, five days after her husband’s death.

The next day youngest daughter Ghislaine flew in from New York. At this point I should say I never saw one tear in the eye of wife or daughter.

Betty admitted the marriage had been falling apart for years and although Ghislaine was her father’s favourite, she remembered the cruel way he often treated the children.

The FBI's decision to open a probe that treats the last decade of political weaponization of law enforcement and intelligence agencies as an ongoing criminal conspiracy is being cheered by lawmakers and could be aided by Director

Patel's discovery of the evidence "vault" or "lockbox" as he called it on a recent interview with podcaster Joe Rogan and the opening of the "overarching conspiracy" probe occurred around the same time this spring==, officials told Just the News.

The discovery that the FBI stashed away evidence in politically hot probes like Russigate could help prosecutors convince a grand jury that government officials were engaged in a coverup or an effort to deprive civil liberties, experts said.

"I think it's part of a coordinated strategy to deprive people of their constitutional rights to speech and to petition the government for redress of agreements and also the right to counsel," former Trump attorney John Eastman told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Monday.

And while the discovery of the evidence vault and the emergence of the conspiracy probe are shrouded in some secrecy, their existence has buoyed Republicans in Congress who long believed prosecution of government actors behind scandals like Russiagate and Biden family corruption was warranted.

"They put America through unbelievable, really historic political turmoil, knowing that the entire narrative was completely false," Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., declared Monday, after word of the conspiracy case surfaced in a Just the News report.

"I felt these people were criminals for many years now," Johnson told the Just the News, No Noise TV show. "I mean, the fact that they knew this...the whole Russiagate was a conspiracy hatched by the Clinton campaign back in 2016.

President Obama was briefed on that. I mean, they all knew."

Just the Newsreported Monday that the FBI quietly launched an investigation into a decade of Democratic Party and "deep-state" antics ranging from ginning up the Trump-Russia collusion to examining special counsel Jack Smith's pursuit of Trump.

That news could open the door for the appointment of a special prosecutor to examine whether the different events support a presentation to a grand jury regarding a criminal conspiracy to influence three consecutive presidential elections to the benefit of Democrats and the detriment of Trump.

Previously hidden documents or information with potential impact being suddenly discovered is a developing pattern, and the release of that material is likely to have major repercussions.

The FBI’s “grand conspiracy” case was opened several weeks ago, Just the News reported, andit could get a significant boost if Trump were to declassify two yet-classified troves of evidence thatidentify key pieces of the alleged conspiracy dating back to the summer of 2016, according to several people directly familiar with the inquiry who spoke to Just the News on a condition of anonymity.

The FBI chief said in that interview on Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News that “that’s how vindictive and vicious the former leadership structure was.Not only did they bastardize the FISA process and lie to the American public, they withheld and hid documentation and put it in rooms where people weren’t supposed to look. And it’s a good thing that we’re here now to clean it up, and you’re about to see a wave of transparency.”

Bongino, the deputy director, accompanied Patel in that interview and told Fox News' Maria Bartromo that the room containing the alleged Russiagate information was “not mentioned” to him nor to Patel when they took over the bureau.

Pieces of the puzzle

Two key clusters of information may determine the direction in which the Department of Justice goes: a classified annex to a 2018 report tied to DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz's probe of Hillary Clinton’s improper email server, and a second classified annex from Special Counsel John Durham's final report in 2023 about the DOJ's "Crossfire Hurricane" project.

Durham's secret annex has long been sought by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and the annex may show that credible information about possible wrongdoing was intentionally ignored by the FBI.

On top of all of this, CIA Director John Ratcliffe sent a criminal referral to Patel earlier this month related to possible criminality by Obama's CIA Director John Brennan, sources familiar with Ratcliffe's actions who declined to be named told Just the News last week.

A review by the CIA released earlier this month critiqued the actions taken by Brennan.

Ratcliffe said that Brennan, Comey and then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper were “excessively involved” in drafting the assessment, did so in a “chaotic,” “atypical” and “markedly unconventional” process, and rushed to complete it.

He added that "Multiple senior CIA managers opposed including the [Steele] dossier, asserting it did not meet even basic tradecraft standards. Despite these objections,” Ratcliffe stated, “Brennan showed a preference for narrative consistency over analytical soundness.”

The bigger picture comes into focus

All of this — combined with the secretive documents recently unearthed at the Hoover Building and brought to the attention of Patel — may provide guideposts for the newly-revealed FBI investigation. It will likely be up to Attorney General Pam Bondi to decide if a criminal prosecution — or a special prosecutor — is warranted.

Patel revealed a key detail about the non-public Crossfire Hurricane evidence when speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in early June. Patel calledthe Trump-Russia collusion hoax “the biggest political criminal scheme ever perpetrated by portions of the FBI leadership and other elements of the intelligence community.”

Rogan let out a shocked “what?” as Patel explained that “my guys are going through that right now.” He said there was “a lot of stuff” to review.

“These guys were so arrogant, they would write everything down. And I found the documents,” Patel said, adding, “They’re so arrogant, they think, ‘No one’s going to catch us. I’m going to write everything down. We’re going to put it in a lockbox, we’re going to put it in a vault, and no one’s going to find it.’ Well, you know what? I found the vault and now I’m going to work.”

Patel addressed a potential barrier to investigation brought by the five-year statute of limitations on lying to Congress, saying that the crimes could potentially be prosecuted if they were tied to a broader conspiracy.

“So generally the statute of limitations on crimes for process crimes that we call them is five years. But if you can time it to an overarching conspiracy, there is no statute of limitations,” the FBI director said.

DOJ’s “Weaponization Working Group” may scrutinize lawfare conspiracy

An executive order issued by Trump and a memo by Attorney General Pam Bondi both regarding the end of “weaponization” within theJustice Department could provide guidance in pursuing a lawfare conspiracy case.

Trump’s executive order on “Ending the Weaponization of The Federal Government” was issued on Inauguration Day in January.

“The American people have witnessed the previous administration engage in a systematic campaign against its perceived political opponents, weaponizing the legal force of numerous Federal law enforcement agencies and the Intelligence Community against those perceived political opponentsin the form of investigations, prosecutions, civil enforcement actions, and other related actions,”Trump said.

“These actions appear orientedmore toward inflicting political pain than toward pursuing actual justice or legitimate governmental objectives.”

Bondi’s follow-up DOJ-wide memo on “Restoring the Integrity and Credibility of the Department of Justice” was issued on February 5, and it established the “Weaponization Working Group” which Bondi said “will conduct a review of the activities of all departments and agencies exercising civil or criminal enforcement authority of the United States over the last four years […] to identify instances where a department's or agency's conduct appears to have been designed to achieve political objectives or other improper aims rather than pursuing justice or legitimate governmental objectives.”

Bondi also wrote that the DOJ “must take immediate and overdue steps to restore integrity and credibility with the public that we are charged with protecting, and to ensure that the Department's personnel are ready and willing to faithfully implement the policy agenda of the duly elected President of the United States.”

Trump and Bondi's work cited with approval

Trump’s executive order and Bondi’s memo may very well have real teeth. They were cited by the DOJ when it sought to intervene in a state-level Colorado prosecution against former Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters.

Peters was found guilty in August 2024 on “7 of 10 criminal charges related to a security breach that occurred in the spring of 2021 in the elections office she oversaw,” according to Colorado Newsline. The outlet reported in October 2024 thatPeters was sentenced to nine years in prison, with the judge who handed down the sentence repeatedly calling her a “charlatan.”

Peters has appealed her case, and she filed an application for a writ of habeas corpus in February.

Yaakov Roth, then the acting assistant attorney general for DOJ’s Civil Division, filed a statement of interest with the federal court in March, citing Trump’s order and Bondi’s memo.

"Ms. Peters is currently incarcerated while pursuing a direct appeal of her underlying nonviolent convictions and combined nine-year sentence,” the DOJ said. “The Application explains that Ms. Peters suffers from serious health issues and that, while incarcerated, her physical and mental health have deteriorated. Reasonable concerns have been raised about various aspects of Ms. Peters’ case.”

The Justice Department has shown that it is willing to turn Trump’s order and Bondi’s memo on “weaponization” into concrete legal action, and observers await Patel's disclosure — to Grassley or the public, or both — to see a path forward.

Illinois has one of the nation’s worst problems with child sex abuse at juvenile detention centers

Illinois has one of the nation’s worst problems with child sex abuse at juvenile detention centers, attorneys representing more than 900 survivors who have filed lawsuits said Wednesday.

Dozens of complaints, including several filed this week in Chicago, allege decades of systemic abuse of children by the employees of detention facilities. Similar lawsuits have popped up in states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, but Illinois stands out for the volume of cases that began piling up last year and the lackluster response from state leaders, according to attorneys.

“The scale and the magnitude and the severity of these cases are some of the worst we’ve seen all over the United States,” Jerome Block, an attorney who has filed lawsuits nationwide, said at a news conference.

The latest Illinois complaints, filed Tuesday, represent 107 people who experienced abuse as children at 10 centers statewide. Some have since closed. The lawsuits allege abuse from the mid-1990s to 2018, including rape, forced masturbation and beatings by chaplains, counselors, officers and kitchen supervisors.

The Associated Press does not typically name people who say they were sexually assaulted unless they consent to being identified or decide to tell their stories publicly, as some who have filed lawsuits have done. Most plaintiffs are identified by initials in the lawsuits.

Survivor Kate-Lynn, who appeared at a Chicago news conference, said she only felt comfortable speaking publicly using her first name. The Illinois woman, now 26, said she was held in solitary confinement at a suburban Chicago facility for a year when she was 14. She said she was sexually and physically abused by at least five staff members who came into her cell and stripped her naked.

As she spoke, a fellow survivor who also planned to speak became overcome with emotion and left the room. He didn't return.

Kate-Lynn said she has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety.

“Going to public places is very hard for me,” she said, wiping tears at times. “I feel like I 'm going to be attacked when dealing with authority figures."

The lawsuits, first filed in May 2024, and they are slowly making their way through the courts.

Two lawsuits against the state — representing 83 people — were filed in the Illinois Court of Claims and seek damages of roughly $2 million per plaintiff, the most allowed under law. Separate lawsuits representing 24 people held as children at a Chicago center, were filed in Cook County and seek more than $100,000 per plaintiff.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, who represents the state, has tried to dismiss the cases in court.

“We have seen submarine cable infrastructure threatened in recent years by foreign adversaries, like China,” FCC Chair Brendan Carr said in a statement. “We are therefore taking action here to guard our submarine cables against foreign adversary ownership, and access as well as cyber and physical threats.”

The United States has for years expressed concerns about China’s role in handling network traffic and the potential for espionage. The U.S. has broad data security concerns about the network of more than 400 subsea cables that handle 99% of international internet traffic.

Since 2020, U.S. regulators have been instrumental in the cancellation of four cables whose backers had wanted to link the United States with Hong Kong.

The FCC last year said it was considering new rules governing undersea internet cables in the face of growing security concerns, as part of a review of regulations on the links that handle nearly all the world’s online traffic. The FCC said it was considering barring the use of equipment or services in those undersea cable facilities from companies on an FCC list of companies deemed to pose threats to U.S, national security, including Huawei, ZTE 000063.SZ, 601728.SS China Telecom and China Mobile 600941.SS.

Carr said the FCC is taking action to “guard our submarine cables against foreign adversary ownership, and access as well as cyber and physical threats.”

The FCC will also seek comment on additional measures to protect submarine cable security against foreign adversary equipment.

The cutting of two fiber-optic undersea telecommunication cables in the Baltic Sea prompted investigations of possible sabotage.

In 2023 Taiwan accused two Chinese vessels of cutting the only two cables that support internet access on the Matsu Islands and Houthi attacks in the Red Sea may have been responsible for the cutting of three cables providing internet service to Europe and Asia.

Liberals claimed Trump would end democracy. They were wrong again. | Opinion

I was told Donald Trump would be the end of American democracy, the beginning of American fascism, the ruin of our economy and the best thing ever to happen to Vladimir Putin. What happened? July 16, 2025 (this is USA Today, unheard of)

Halfway through 2025, I can't help but recall the bevy of lies that progressives and the mainstream media told me about Donald Trump before and after he won a second term as president.

I was told Trump would be the end of American democracy, the beginning of American fascism, the ruin of our economy and the best thing ever to happen to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

None of that has happened, and I don't know whether to be disappointed or elated. But I must ask: What happened? And why have things gone so right when they were supposed to be so wrong?

Progressives were wrong about the Trump economy

Progressives have persistently forecast imminent economic doom since Trump was reelected in November.

In April, the Associated Press reported: "President Donald Trump has panicked global financial markets, raised the risk of a recession and broken the political and economic alliances that made much of the world stable for business after World War II."

That same month, Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, declaredthat "Donald Trump is ruining the economy on purpose." And The American Prospect, in an article headlined, "The Great Trump Crash?," predicted that tariffs would "mean an instant, near-total halt of trade between China and the U.S."

None of those dire predictions proved to be true.The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq recently reached record highs. Employers added more jobs than expected last month. The inflation rate ticked higher in June, but remains far below the 40-year high that Americans suffered under during the Biden administration.

Progressives' scary predictions about international affairs also have proven to be false. Trump was supposed to be the green light Putin needed to pummel Ukraine into submission. Trump's America first stance also was supposed to embolden China and splinter NATO.

In reality, Trump has been a peacemaker, pushing for meaningful ceasefires in conflicts from Gaza to Pakistan, Ukraine to Iran.

Trump's efforts in the Middle East alone are worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump set back Iran's development of nuclear weapons, then forged a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Diplomatic efforts to broker a lasting peace in Gaza also continue.

If there is to be a World War III, it doesn't appear imminent. Once again, progressives' claims about Trump were nothing but fearmongering.

Democracy remains strong with Trump in the White House

Probably the biggest lie the left has told about Trump is that his election would be an "extinction-level threat" for democracy.

Six months into Trump's second term, I'm happy to report that democracy is still alive and well.Just look at recent headlines: New York Democrats exercised their right to vote for a socialist to run America's largest city. Millions of Americans marched in "No Kings" protests to criticize the president. Other protestors have taken to the streets to demonstrate against enforcement of our nation's immigration laws.

Despite liberals' oft-repeated fears, the evidence overwhelmingly points to a healthy democracy, where Americans vote for the candidates of their choice and raise their voices to call out politicians and policies they don't like.

It's not just that progressives' worst fears turned out to be far from reality.The left tried to gaslight Americans into believing they'd regret voting for Trump.

Crowds on Demand CEO Says His Company Rejected $20 MILLION Offer to Recruit Anti Trump Protestors for Nationwide Demonstrations on Thursday - Says He was Worried about “Violent Agitators”

Crowds on Demand CEO Adam Swart revealed in an interview this week that his company was offered a $20 million contract for an astroturfed nationwide anti-Trump demonstration scheduled for Thursday.

Crowds on Demand is the “largest protest company in the country,” Swart said, noting that they specialize in corporate publicity and celebrity publicity. “We’re probably best known for political advocacy group publicity, that is, creating crowds of peaceful, enthusiastic demonstrators to turn out in favor of a particular cause or in opposition to one.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, leftist groups have planned over 400 protests across the nation on the anniversary of the death of Democrat activist and congressman John Lewis.

Like many other recent nationwide days of protest, including the now-infamous “No Kings” day, the “Good Trouble Lives On” protests are being organized by the 50501 Movement.

These types of demonstrations are known for using paid participants and agitators to stir up the crowds. As seen in Los Angeles, California, thousands of suspected paid rioters were present, and one individual was indicted on federal charges for delivering bionic face shields to the rioters.

"Interests aligned with the organizers of the July 17 movement have approached us, and in fact, we rejected an offer that probably is worth around $20 million," Swart revealed in an interview with NewsNation's Brian Entin. Swart says he turned the contract down.

"I just don't think it's effective," he said, adding that "it's going to make us all look bad." He cited Trump's continued support despite the ongoing protests for the ineffectiveness of these movements. "This is the same old noise that has failed to land with the American people this last 6/7 months.

Swart told Entin that his company has a "large network of people" that they "compensate" for turning out to demonstrations.

Swart did not say who exactly offered him the $20 million to maintain the privacy of his clients, Entin said after he interviewed Swart.

Entin further reported, "he said he had some concern about violence based on what he's seen in the past, but mostly he just doesn't think that it's productive or really making a difference, big picture, about how the country feels about President Trump. And he says he just didn't want to get involved."

During the interview, Swart noted that peaceful demonstrators could be lumped in with "a violent agitator throwing a molotov cocktail" and create a "very big problem" with police being unable to differentiate between protestors and rioters.

Swart: Correct. I mean, this is a nationwide thing, right? It's not to say I would have made $20 million personally, but the value of the contract would have been worth around that amount, nationwide, to organize huge demonstrations around the country, but personally, I just don't think it's effective. So, I'm not trying to call myself virtuous for rejecting it. What I'm saying is, I'm saying I'm rejecting it, not because I don't want to take the business, but because, frankly, this is going to be ineffective. It's going to make us all look bad.
