Washington Post journalist charged with possession of child pornography

-A Washington Post employee has been charged with possession of child pornography.

-Thomas Pham LeGro, 48, is the Deputy Director of Video at the Washington Post.

-He was arrested after FBI agents discovered a digital file that contained 11 videos depicting child sexual abuse material.

An award-winning journalist with the Washington Post made his first court appearance on Friday after being charged with possession of child pornography.

What we know:

The Department of Justice announced charges against Thomas Pham LeGro, 48, on Friday. LeGro is the Deputy Director of Video at the Washington Post.

The DOJ says that on June 26, FBI agents executed a search warrant at LeGro’s residence and seized several electronic devices. Authorities say that they found a folder that contained 11 videos depicting child sexual abuse material on LeGro’s work laptop.

During the search, FBI agents also reported that they saw what appeared to be fractured pieces of a hard drive in the hallway outside the room where LeGro’s work laptop was found.

According to a personnel profile on the Washington Post's website, LeGro serves as the Deputy Director of Video.

They say he joined the video department in 2013 as an editor on the breaking-news desk and in 2015 became the senior producer overseeing the International, Style and Technology teams.

In 2017, he was part of the team of Post reporters awarded a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Senate candidacy of Roy Moore. He was then promoted to executive producer in 2021, overseeing the Post's Politics, National, International and Technology teams.

His honors and awards are listed as the following:

Pulitzer Prize, part of team that won for Investigative Reporting, 2018; Murrow Award, part of team that won for investigative reporting, 2018 ; Robin Toner Prize, part of team that won for Excellence in Political Reporting, 2018; Murrow Award, part of team that won for continuing coverage of the opioid crisis in America, 2017; Webby Award, part of team that won in Film & Video: Music for "The Inside Story of When RUN‑DMC Met Aerosmith and Changed Music Forever," 2017; Emmy nomination, part of team that earned the nod for outstanding breaking news coverage of the Pulse nightclub shooting, 2017; Webby Award and People's Voice Winner, part of team that won in Documentary: Longform for "The Assassination of Jamal Khashoggi," 2020

A Washington Post spokesperson provided a statement to FOX 5, saying, "The Washington Post understands the severity of these allegations, and the employee has been placed on leave."

What's next:

The case is being investigated by the FBI Washington Field Office’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, which is composed of FBI agents, along with other federal agents and detectives from northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.

The task force is charged with investigating and bringing federal charges against individuals engaged in the exploitation of children and those engaged in human trafficking.

DOJ sues Minnesota for offering free and reduced tuition to illegal aliens

"No state can be allowed to treat Americans like second-class citizens in their own country by offering financial benefits to illegal aliens," said U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Minnesota Wednesday for its laws that provide free and reduced tuition rates to illegal aliens.

The laws, a DOJ press release contends, unconstitutionally discriminate against out-of-state U.S. citizens, who are not afforded the same privileges at Minnesota’s public colleges and universities.

“No state can be allowed to treat Americans like second-class citizens in their own country by offering financial benefits to illegal aliens,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in announcing the lawsuit. “The Department of Justice just won on this exact issue in Texas, and we look forward to taking this fight to Minnesota in order to protect the rights of American citizens first.”

According to the lawsuit, federal law prohibits states from providing illegal aliens with any postsecondary education benefit that is denied to U.S. citizens.

“That prohibition is categorical, yet Minnesota is flagrantly violating it. This Court should put an end to this unequal treatment of Americans that is an unequivocal and ongoing violation of federal law … ,” says the lawsuit, which names Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and the Minnesota Office of Higher Education as defendants.

The lawsuit explains how a 2013 state law allows illegal aliens who establish residency in Minnesota to benefit from reduced, in-state tuition rates.

“The magnitude of this discrimination against U.S. citizens is substantial. The cost of tuition for resident students is significantly lower than for U.S. citizens that are not in-state residents,” it says.

Additionally, the DFL-controlled Minnesota Legislature established in 2023 a free tuition program for students whose families make less than $80,000 annually. Illegal aliens are eligible for the program.

The lawsuit asks the U.S. District Court to declare the laws unconstitutional and prohibit their enforcement.

“We are reviewing the lawsuit and will vigorously defend the state’s prerogative to offer affordable tuition to both citizen and non-citizen state residents,” a spokesperson for the attorney general’s office said.

S&P 500 closes at a record Friday

The S&P 500

hit fresh records on Friday as traders managed to look past new comments from President Donald Trump tied to U.S.-Canada tariffs. The broad market index’s rise to new highs marks a sharp turnaround from the lows seen in April during the height of trade policy tensions.

The benchmark added 0.52% and closed at a record of 6,173.07. Earlier in the session, the S&P 500 rose as much as 0.76% to a high of 6,187.68, taking out its previous record of 6,147.43. The Nasdaq Composite

, which also hit an all-time high and closed at a record, rose 0.52% to 20,273.46. The Dow Jones Industrial Average

added 432.43 points, or 1%, settling at 43,819.27.

Stocks pulled back from their session highs after Trump said on Truth Social that trade talks between the U.S. and Canada were being terminated. Initially, investors bid up equities after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told Bloomberg News late Thursday that a framework between China and the U.S. on trade had been finalized. Lutnick added that the Trump administration expects to reach deals with 10 major trading partners imminently.

Friday’s sharp moves mark the latest episode in which Wall Street tries to navigate an ever-changing global trade landscape.

After rising to a new high in February on hopes for business-friendly policies from Trump, stocks tumbled as the president decided to instead implement severe tariffs first. At its low in April, the S&P 500 was down nearly 18% for 2025. The benchmark began a stunning comeback after Trump walked back his stiffest tariff rates and the U.S. began negotiations for trade deals.

The S&P 500 is up more than 20% since reaching a nadir on April 8 and now up nearly 5% for the year. Along the way, investors kept buying despite a spike in oil prices spurred by the Israel-Iran conflict and a yield surge on deficit worries. A recovery in the artificial intelligence trade led by Nvidia

and Microsoft

helped fuel the comeback.

“I can see where the risks are here - if the trade [progress] is just hype from the White House and no deals are really forthcoming, then this market is going to roll over,” Thierry Wizman, global FX and rates strategist at Macquarie Group. “Ultimately, this all comes back to growth in the U.S. economy and growth of earnings.”

ICE arrests Iranian sniper with an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card in North Alabama

As federal officials began looking for potential threats to the United States after its actions in bombing Iran this week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Tuesday that it had arrested a Locust Fork man with an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card in a nationwide roundup.

According to DHS, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Ribvar Karimi on Sunday in Blount County's Locust Fork.

Karimi reportedly served as an Iranian Army sniper from 2018 to 2021. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card. He entered the United States on a K-1 visa, which is reserved for aliens who are engaged to be married to American citizens, in October 2024, under the Biden administration. Karimi never adjusted his status as required by law and is removable from the United States. He's currently in ICE custody, where he'll remain pending removal proceedings.

The arrest came in a nationwide effort by ICE and DHS officials as concerns heightened over a potential homeland attack as a reprisal for the United States' entering the conflict between Israel and Iran earlier this week. In total, DHS boasted of arresting 11 Iranian nationals with criminal histories or who had made some threatening statements.

"Under Secretary Noem, DHS has been full throttle on identifying and arresting known or suspected terrorists and violent extremists that illegally entered this country, came in through Biden's fraudulent parole programs or otherwise," said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. "We have been saying we are getting the worst of the worst out—and we are. We don't wait until a military operation to execute; we proactively deliver on President Trump's mandate to secure the homeland." 

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) responded to the roundup, using it to continue pushing for President Donald Trump’s spending package, which includes funding for removing illegal aliens.

Egyptian tourist who kicked airport sniffer beagle into the air in vicious attack gets deported

An Egyptian man was deported within moments of arriving in the United States after kicking an airport sniffer dog so hard it flew into the air.

Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie, 70, lashed out at agriculture detector beagle Freddie on Tuesday inside Washington Dulles International Airport, in Virginia.

Marie took a kick at the canine as he waiting at baggage claim as luggage from an EgyptAir flight from Cairo was being unloaded.

He pleaded guilty during a court appearance earlier this week to harming the dog and was ordered to pay vet fees totaling $840, and was removed from the country.

Freddie had alerted his handler to one of Marie's bags, detecting over 100 pounds of prohibited food items inside Marie's luggage.

As Freddie's handler started questioning Marie, he violently kicked the dog with such force that it sent the 25-pound animal into the air.

The name “false flag” comes from the days when naughty captains of sailing ships used to put up a flag suggesting that they belonged to an opposing navy. The innocent ship captains, seeing a replica of their own flag fluttering aloft, would merrily assume that they could safely approach to exchange cooking recipes and favourite holiday resorts with a fellow captain.

Then, suddenly, whoosh, a flurry of cannon balls would tear away their mizzen mast (I read the Horatio Hornblower stories when I was young), leaving them vulnerable to a quick and humiliating capture.

Pirates used to favour the same trick. Down would come the Jolly Roger. And up would go the Spanish or British flag.

History is full of false flag operations.

Remember the Trojan horse? That was an early false flag. There were false flag operations in ancient Egypt where Ramses was tricked. In Rome, the church faked a document which gave itself the right to create the kings of Europe. In the 12th century, the church was at it again, this time inventing a character called Prester John who was used to trick the Europeans into entering into a war they had no hope of winning. Prester John was subsequently used for an astonishing five centuries without anyone smelling a rat.

From the 13th century onwards, the church blamed innocent people for everything which went wrong – including the weather. And since there was a little ice age for several centuries, they had plenty of opportunity to hunt out people, call them witches and kill them. If the crops failed, the local witch (usually an unfortunate local midwife or nurse) would be blamed. If it was an unduly chilly winter, then the witch would be burnt or drowned. If a plague killed a good many people, then the deaths were blamed on local witches. Witch hunting was a popular profession and akin, in its day, to the work done by Wikipedia editors today.

The Spanish-American Civil War began when President McKinley told the Americans that the US Maine had been sunk in the harbour at Havana by a Spanish mine. The public outrage was enough to start the war. However, the captain of the Maine had insisted that the ship was sunk not by a mine but by an explosion in a coal bin. After the war, investigations showed that the captain was correct and that McKinley had lied. Tut tut. A politician lying. What a shock.

Hitler was a great believer in false flag operations. In 1933, the Reichstag building in Berlin, the home of the German Parliament, was set on fire. Hitler blamed communist agitators and used the fire to establish himself and his party in control of Germany. In 1939, Hitler arranged for German targets to be attacked and then told the Germans that Poland was responsible. And thus began the Second World War.

During that War, the Americans were outraged by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour which was, so claimed President Roosevelt, unprovoked and a complete surprise. Roosevelt was lying. He knew about the attack but wanted the Japanese to sink some ships and kill some Americans to provide an excuse for the Americans to join World War II.

In 1953, the UK and the US used a “false flag” operation called Operation Ajax to overthrow an Iranian regime which had nationalised the oil fields. Civilians were machine-gunned and a mosque was attacked. Declassified files show that in 1962, the US tried to provoke a war with Cuba. (They failed.) In 1967, a CIA intelligence ship called the Liberty was bombed by unmarked Israeli planes. It is now accepted that President Johnson ordered the attack. The attack was designed to look like an Egyptian attack and resulted in the deaths of 34 American sailors. In 1998, President Clinton was under pressure as a result of a relationship with a young intern called Monica Lewinski. The President launched missile attacks against Afghanistan and Sudan and it was widely alleged that the attacks were initiated to distract attention from the incident in the White House.

It is very widely believed that the attacks on American targets on 11 September 2001 were arranged (or at very least known about) by the Americans. And both the Americans and the British lied about “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq as an excuse for invading that country. Colin Powell, George Bush, Tony Blair were just three of the most outspoken supporters of the Iraq war. All lied a great deal. And all politicians who supported or defended their lies were guilty of war crimes. The weapons of mass destruction scam was a massive false flag operation.

And then there was global warming – a huge confidence trick designed to control the people of the world and prepare them for Net Zero, the Great Reset and the new Agenda.

At the turn of the century, the big fraud was Y2K – when the world was told that computers would stop functioning properly at midnight on 31 December 1999. The claim was that computers would leap back to 1 January 1900 and that as a result, there would be no electricity and aeroplanes would fall out of the skies. The fraud or false flag operation was created and maintained by software promoters who sold solutions and made $6 billion out of the nonsense.

Finally, in 2020 we saw the beginning of the biggest false flag of all time. But you know all about that one, don’t you?

False flag operations are occurring almost daily now. You can probably spot them as well as I can.

This paper introduces two new cosmological hydrodynamical suites of Warm Dark Matter, each comprised of 1024 simulations generated using the Arepo code. One suite consists of uniform-box simulations covering a

volume, while the other consists of Milky Way zoom-ins with sufficient resolution to capture the properties of classical satellites. For each simulation, the Warm Dark Matter particle mass is varied along with the initial density field and several parameters controlling the strength of baryonic feedback within the IllustrisTNG model. We provide two examples, separately utilizing emulators and Convolutional Neural Networks, to demonstrate how such simulation suites can be used to disentangle the effects of dark matter and baryonic physics on galactic properties. The DREAMS project can be extended further to include different dark matter models, galaxy formation physics, and astrophysical targets. In this way, it will provide an unparalleled opportunity to characterize uncertainties on predictions for small-scale observables, leading to robust predictions for testing the particle physics nature of dark matter on these scales.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced it has launched a Title IX investigation into the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State High School League.

The inquiry will investigate whether Minnesota violated federal law by permitting male athletes to compete on girls-only sports teams—including in a recent high school softball championship.

OCR said the investigation was triggered because the “male athlete’s participation was instrumental, leading the team to win the state title.”

The Minnesota Department of Education, an HHS funding recipient, has delegated responsibility for high school athletics to the Minnesota State High School League,making both entities subject to Title IX compliance, HHS said. The U.S. Department of Education is conducting a separate investigation into both entities.

“Minnesota’s Attorney General has advised the Minnesota State High School League to follow state law and defy President Trump’s Executive Orderon Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports,” a press release states.

The male athlete referenced by OCR, Charlie ‘Marissa’ Rothenberger, played softball for Champlin Park High School and pitched back-to-back shutouts, bringing the female team to the state tournament earlier this month.

“I think for me and other women it makes us feel like we don’t matter,” a female athlete who was forced to compete against Rothenberger told Alpha News.

Court records show that Rothenberger’s legal name and sex were changed in 2017 when he was just nine years old.

“Females cannot be relegated to the sidelines under Title IX,” said OCR Director Paula M. Stannard.“As a recipient of Federal funds, Title IX requires Minnesota to ensure fair and safe opportunities for females to compete on sex-segregated teams – regardless of state law obligations.”

OCR emphasized that federal civil rights statutes override conflicting state laws and that recipients of federal funding must fully comply with Title IX. This investigation forms part of theagency’s broader effort “to defend women and restore biological truth to the Federal government.”

Those who believe they have experienced discrimination in HHS-funded programs can file a complaint with OCR.

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed a federal lawsuit last month on behalf of three female high school softball players, accusingAttorney General Keith Ellison, the Minnesota State High School League, and other state officials of violating Title IX because they allowed male athletes to compete in girls’ sports.

Tidally locked in synchronous rotation, the Moon always presents its familiar nearside to denizens of planet Earth. From lunar orbit, the Moon's farside can become familiar, though. In fact this sharp picture, a mosaic from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter's wide angle camera, is centered on the lunar farside. Part of a global mosaic of over 15,000 images acquired between November 2009 and February 2011, the highest resolution version shows features at a scale of 100 meters per pixel. Surprisingly, the rough and battered surface of the farside looks very different from the nearside covered with smooth dark lunar maria. A likely explanation is that the farside crust is thicker, making it harder for molten material from the interior to flow to the surface and form dark, smooth maria.

Washington County ‘prioritized’ registration of ‘BIPOC,’ ‘LGBTQ+’ residents for community event

The event was funded through the Met Council's $2 million "equity grant program."

Washington County hosted a kayaking event this spring where registration was “prioritized” for people of certain races and sexual orientations.

“Registration is prioritized for Washington Countyresidents that identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color, ages 65 years or older, low-income (annual income of 60K or less), LGBTQ+, and/or persons with a disability,” the county’s website

The free event, called Learn to Paddle, was held on May 25, May 26, and June 5 at Square Lake Park and Lake Elmo Park Reserve. “Participants will learn how to paddle and safely navigate one of Minnesota’s lakes via kayak. Friendly instruction offered through Wild Rivers Conservancy.”

When asked if the county views the event listing as discriminatory, parks manager JJ Williamssaid the “program is not exclusive and welcomes all participants.”

“The Learn to Paddle program is funded through the Metropolitan Council’s Equity Grant Program, which is a competitive grant designed to improve equitable access to the regional park system,” Williams said.“Addressing access for underrepresented groups is a requirement of the grant.”

The Metropolitan Council awarded $2,068,000 in 2024 as part of its Equity Grant Program.“The Equity Grant Program provides funding to regional parks agencies for capital and noncapital projects that will strengthen equitable usage of regional parks and trails by all our region’s residents, across age, race, ethnicity, income, national origin, and ability,” the Metropolitan Council’s website says.

According to documents from the Metropolitan Council, Washington County received $20,000 for “Water Safety Outreach Programs” under the grant.

Another component of the county’s equity programming is called “BIPOC Connect,” which consists of “free get-togethers in the parks that is open to everyone with the goal of welcoming Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) into outdoor spaces.”

One of the upcoming BIPOC Connect events is a family-friendly birding event that Washington County advertised as a way to “foster an inclusive space for all with emphasis on LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.”

As part of the Metropolitan Council Equity Grant Program, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board received $160,000 to create “new maps and interpretive panels for the 55 kiosks located along the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway System.” The panels were updated to include an “Indigenous land, people, and nations acknowledgement statement,” among other things, according to the project summary.

The Metropolitan Council awarded over $2 million in equity grants in 2021 and $300,000 in 2019.

NASA Study Gave Illegal Drugs To Spiders And Watched What Happened To Their Webs

US space agency NASA has a pretty great reputation around the world for its various missions exploring the Solar System.

But it can conduct some pretty unusual research too, highlighted by the time they got spiders high on street drugs and watched what happened to their webs.

In 1948, Swiss pharmacologist Peter N. Witt began attempting to investigate the effect that drugs have on spiders.

Keeping them in a temperature- and light-controlled room, he fed the spiders amphetamines, mescaline, caffeine, and LSD, as well as dosing them with carbon monoxide.

Then, he watched the effect that these drugs had on the spiders' web-making abilities.

Spiders know how to build their webs instinctively, not learning how to do so from other spiders.

"The first thing an orb-weaving spider needs to be able to do is to have one thread that is going across space," Dr Beth Mortimer from the University of Oxford explains in a video for the BBC.

"They'll then need to make a Y-shape. So they'll go to the middle, attach another silk fiber, and pull it all down into a Y-shape."

They then build mooring and structural threads around the outside of the web, before bringing some silk into the middle and attaching it to the web's center.

"They'll bring some silk into the middle and attach it into the center. They'll then spend the majority of their web-building time slowly laying down this capture spiral."

The spiders travel slowly around, building up their web into a fly-catching net. At least, that's what they do when they aren't off their cephalothorax on LSD.

LSD in high doses was, you probably won't be shocked to hear, very disruptive to the spiders' task, with some of the spiders abandoning their webs altogether.

But at lower doses, they produced complex, three-dimensional webs. While pretty, and described as "strikingly psychedelic", the webs would be fairly ineffective at catching prey.

Spiders that ingested mescaline, a natural psychedelic produced by certain cacti, actually produced slightly larger webs.

While you might think that we've learned all we need to from feeding spiders illegal drugs, people working at NASA in the 1990s disagreed.

In 1995, scientists from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Arizona repeated the experiments with cannabis, amphetamine, caffeine, and sedative chloral hydrate, and analyzed the webs.

The team had good reasons for doing so; wanting to determine the toxicity of chemicals without testing on "higher animals". They got similar results to Witt, including particularly messed up webs when the spiders were exposed to caffeine.

"The changes in webs reflect the degree of toxicity of a substance. The more toxic the chemical, the more deformed a web looks in comparison with a normal web.

Inasmuch as the shape of a spider web resembles that of a crystal lattice in some respects, techniques of statistical crystallography are applied to obtain several quantitative measures of toxicity as manifested in the differences between photographs of webs spun under toxic and normal conditions," the team writes in their study.

"The images of the cells are digitized and processed by an image-data-analysis program that computes various measures of the cellular structures of the webs, including numbers of cells and average areas, perimeters, and radii of cells.

It appears that one of the most telling measures of toxicity is a decrease, in comparison with a normal web, of the numbers of completed sides in the cells: the greater the toxicity, the more sides the spider fails to complete."

While other drugs have a stronger effect on humans, it is perhaps unsurprising that caffeine may have evolved for its toxicity to insects.

"The results suggest that, despite its prevalence in our daily lives," a review of the topic from Atlantic International University explains, "caffeine may have more potent effects on the nervous system than we often realize."

US President DonaldTrump has said Russian President Vladimir Putin has regained respect for America, whose international standing was damaged by the previous administration.

Trump was responding to comments made by Putin during a visit to Belarus on Friday, where the Russian leader described the US president as a “courageous man.”

Trump has revived direct contact with Moscow, which was cut off during the Biden administration, and has held five phone calls with Putin since returning to office in January.

Staff at Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant attacked by Ukrainian drone – officials

A group of workers standing just 400 meters away from the Zaporozhye NPP’s reactor units was targeted, according to the facility’s management

Workers at Russia’s Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) were targeted by a Ukrainian drone just a few hundred meters from the reactor units, the facility’s management reported on its official Telegram channel on Friday.

The ZNPP, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, came under Moscow’s control in March 2022.The region’s residents soon thereafter voted in a referendum to become part of Russia. The plant has since frequently been at the center of hostilities, as both Moscow and Kiev have traded accusations of endangering its safety.

The latest attacktook place near the plant’s hydraulic structures,approximately 350–400 meters from the reactor units, according to the ZNPP’s statement. The drone is said to have damaged a service vehicle but caused no injuries. Personnel involved in clearing operations at the water intake canal managed to take cover before the explosion. The plant emphasized that operations continue under full safety precautions.

The ZNPP’s management condemned the Ukrainian drone strike as a “terrorist act” and called thedeliberate targeting of civilian nuclear staff “a new level of inhumanity” by the Kiev regime.

Russian officials have repeatedly accused Ukraine of nuclear terrorism over strikes on the Zaporozhye facility. The plant has been the target of drone attacks on multiple occasions in recent years.

In April 2024, unmanned aircraft struck near the reactor containment areas, including a direct hit on the dome of Reactor Unit 6.

Earlier this month, the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA), which has a monitoring mission deployed to the ZNPP, also confirmedthat its team heard repeated rounds of gunfire and multiple explosionsduring what appeared to be a drone attack on the plant’s training center. That incident marked the fourth time this year that the area had been targeted by Kiev.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi responded at the time by stating that “any attack on any nuclear power plant, in particular Zaporozhye, is absolutely unacceptable.” He warned that such actions must stop immediately due to the risk of “potentially serious consequences.”

(Sounds like Zelensky’s plan is, if we can’t have control the plant no one can. If blown up it will cause a disaster all over Europe and further, around the world.)

The Ukrainian leader failed to deliver on his promises and stole billions in aid, Vassily Nebenzia has told RT

Ukraine’s “expired” leader Vladimir Zelensky is “politically dead” and refuses to step down to avoid accountability for his actions, Russian UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia has told RT’s Rick Sanchez.

In an interview on Sanchez Effect aired on Friday, Nebenzia accused Zelensky of betraying the promises that brought him to power and dragging Ukraine into a wider conflict. He referenced Zelensky’s campaign pledge to end the fighting in Donbass, which the Kiev regime and its Western backers derailed by violating the 2014-15 Minsk agreements.

“Zelensky came to power on the promise to end the war in Donbass... He promised one thing, but he turned 180 degrees… Politically, Zelensky is already dead,” Nebenzia stated.

Nebenzia said Zelensky is holding on to power to avoid the consequences of prolonging the conflict with Russia and misusing Western funds provided as aid.

“The end of his presidency may entail something for him that he is trying to avoid at all costs:

Reporting on the money stolen and the loss of the people whom he failed miserably,” Nebenzia stated. “So he has all the reasons... to cling to power and not to hold elections.”

Ukrainians are our brothers, no doubt about it.But the clique that came to rule them – it is a regime, it is not a government.

“They stole billions of dollars out of the aid they were receiving. That’s an open secret,”he said, adding that Kiev has already been asked to report on the aid but has failed to do so. “I think that when finally it comes to it, the revelations will be very dire.”

Zelensky has remained in office since his term expired in May, suspending elections due to martial law. He insists that he has the right to remain in office, though the constitution stipulates that presidential duties should pass to the parliament speaker.

Russia has said it is open to talks with Ukraine but questions the legality of any deals made with the current government in Kiev. President Vladimir Putin recently said he would meet with Zelensky but called into question his authority to sign a treaty, as “the signature must come from legitimate authorities, otherwise, whoever comes after [Zelensky] will toss it to the dumpster.”

Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin plans to launch six people to suborbital space Sunday, after a round of weather delays last weekend.

The mission — known as NS-33, because it will be the 33rd overall flight of the company's New Shepard vehicle — was originally scheduled to lift off from Blue Origin's West Texas site on Saturday (June 21) morning.

But Mother Nature didn't cooperate; high winds forced a scrub. The launch was then targeted for Sunday at 8:30 a.m. EDT (1230 GMT; 7:30 a.m. local Texas time). But the weather didn't cooperate again.

Now, Blue Origin has set a new liftoff target for Sunday, June 29, at 8:30 a.m. EDT (1230 GMT; 7:30 a.m. local Texas time).

New Shepard is an autonomous, fully reusable vehicle that consists of a first-stage booster and a crew capsule.

Its flights last 10 to 12 minutes from liftoff to capsule touchdown; passengers get to experience a few minutes of weightlessness and see Earth against the blackness of space.

The people going up on the NS-33 mission are Allie and Carl Kuehner, a husband and wife who are both into conservation and exploration; philanthropist and beekeeper Leland Larson; entrepreneur Freddie Rescigno, Jr.; lawyer and author Owolabi Salis; and retired attorney Jim Sitkin.

NS-33 will be Blue Origin's 13th human spaceflight mission overall and its fourth of 2025 so far. (Most of the company's flights have been uncrewed research missions.)

Japan is poised to launch a dual-purpose satellite to monitor sea temperature and greenhouse gases.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is targeting Saturday (June 28) for the 50th and final launch of its H-2A rocket, which will take the GOSAT-GW dual-purpose satellite to space.

The mission will lift off from Yoshinobu Launch Complex (LP-1) at the Tenegashima Space Center in Japan during a 20-minute launch window beginning at 12:33 p.m. EDT (1633 GMT; 1:33 a.m. June 29, local time in Japan).

JAXA will livestream the launch from its mission website as well as on YouTube. Space.com will also carry the broadcast at the top of this page.

The Greenhouse Gas and Water Cycle Observation Satellite (GOSAT-GW) is the latest in Japan's efforts to observe changes in water cycles and greenhouse gases.

GOSAT-GW will join its predecessors in Earth orbit: GCOM-W2, which launcher in 12 and is known as "SHIZUKU," and GOSAT-1, which launched in 2009 and is known as "IBUKI."

GOSAT-GW is equipped with two main instruments.

The first is known as the Advanced Microwave Radiometer (AMSR), and will measure water cycles and fluctuations in sea surface temperatures.

The second is the Greenhouse Gases Observation Sensor (TANSO), and will monitor components such as carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere to measure climate change.

Japan's H-2A rocket, built for JAXA by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, is capable of launching payloads into a geostationary orbit around Earth and to orbit around the moon.

It also launched the Akatsuki spacecraft to study Venus in 2010, though the spacecraft failed to properly enter Venusian orbit.

H-2A first launched in 2001. During its nearly 25 years in operation, the rocket has experienced only a single launch failure, giving the vehicle a 98% success rate.

After 50 missions, the launch vehicle is being retired to make way for Japan's H3 rocket, which offers comparable performance at a lower cost.

Drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck the Kirovske military airfield in occupied Crimea overnight on June 28, the SBU told the Kyiv Independent.

The attack destroyed Mi-8, Mi-26 and Mi-28 attack helicopters, and a Pantsyr-S1 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun system, the SBU claimed.

According to the SBU, Ukraine targeted Russian aviation, air defense systems, as well as ammunition, reconnaissance and attack drones storage facilities.

Secondary explosions were heard at the airfield during the night.

The Kyiv Independent could not verify these claims.

As Russia intensifies aerial attacks on Ukraine and the civilian death toll climbs, Ukraine has stepped up its drone attacks on Russian territory too.

Earlier on June 27, Ukrainian drones struck four Su-34 fighter jets at the Marinovka airfield in Russia's Volgograd Oblast, according to the military.

Preliminary reports indicate that two Russian fighter jets were destroyed in the June 27 attack, and the other two were damaged. Russia uses the aircraft to bomb Ukraine.

Since the start of its full-scale war in February 2022, Russia has lost 420 airplanes and 337 helicopters, Ukraine's General Staff said in its latest update on June 28. The Kyiv Independent could not verify these figures.

Drone attack on Odesa: two dead, casualty toll up to 14

In Odesa, the number of injured as a result of a night drone attack that also claimed two lives has risen to 14.

This was reported by the regional administration chief, Oleh Kiper, Ukrinform saw.

"Fourteen people, three of them children, injured in an overnight drone strike in Odesa," the report says.

The police noted that the attack damaged residential buildings, where apartments caught fire, an administrative building, other civil infrastructure, and vehicles. All fires have been put out.

The police and emergency services are working at the scene.

Law enforcers are documenting the consequences of the attack, collecting evidence, interviewing residents, providing psychological assistance, and ensuring law and order. Sixty-six police officers have been deployed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine’s air defense forces neutralized 22 of 23 drones launched by the Russians since last evening.

Mexican PresidentClaudia Sheinbaum is furious. “The Treasury Department hasn’t provided a single piece of evidence to show that any money launderingwas taking place,” she said. “We aren’t going to cover for anyone, there isn’t impunity here. They have to be able to demonstrate that there was actually money laundering, not with words, but with strong evidence.”

Secretary Scott Bessent has provided all of the evidence above in the three orders. However, this U.S. Treasuryaction is going to cause a massive disruption to the financial system used by Mexican officials to remain in power. This is the key point.

Remember, the Customs and Border Patrol enforcement action in Los Angeles was not about deporting illegal aliens. The origination of the chaos in Los Angeles centered around the ‘customs” aspect of the CBPas they targeted local businesses that were operating as money laundering outfits for drug and human trafficking into the USA.

Again, for emphasis, the subsequent riots that took place in Los Angeles were NOT originated by deportation operations involving ICE; they originated from CBP and FBI operations involving Mexican money laundering. In the orders blocking transactions between the three institutions and American banks, theTrump administration alleged that the three companies facilitated millions of dollars in transfers with Chinese companies, which it said were used to buy chemicals to produce fentanyl. The Treasury Department said the institutions had facilitated transfers to U.S. banks, but officials would not name which U.S. institutions were implicated nor provide more details.

HUR Drones Batter Military Arsenal in Russia to Celebrate Ukrainian Constitution Day

As part of continuing campaign against arms depots and military infrastructure, Ukrainian forces blasted a military installation in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast.

Ukrainian military intelligence forces launched drone strikes against Russian military installations in the Bryansk Oblast on Saturday morning, marking Ukraine’s Constitution Day with what officials described as continued “demilitarization” operations.

According to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), strike drones targeted facilities belonging to the 120th arsenal of Russia’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate. The attack occurred on June 28, coinciding with Ukraine’s Constitution Day celebrations.

Local residents in Bryansk reported hearing heavy gunfire and multiple explosions throughout the morning. Social media posts from the area described the sounds of unidentified unmanned aerial vehicles followed by loud detonations.

“Oh, how terrifying it was twice! They specifically targeted us,” read messages on local public forums from residents who witnessed the aerial activity and explosions.

Russian local authorities declined to provide official comment on the explosions, instead issuing reminders about prohibitions on filming or sharing videos of what they termed “consequences of air defense work.”

The Ukrainian intelligence service said that information regarding the full extent of damage from Saturday’s strike is still being assessed. Intelligence sources characterized the operation as part of ongoing efforts to target Russian military infrastructure.

This latest attack follows a similar strike just two days earlier, when HUR drones hit fuel storage facilities at the 1061st Material and Technical Support Center of the Russian Armed Forces in Bryansk on the evening of June 26.

That facility housed rocket fuel and other petroleum products used by Russian military forces.

The strikes are part of Ukraine’s continued strategy of targeting Russian military logistics and supply infrastructure deep within Russian territory, using long-range drone capabilities to disrupt military operations supporting the ongoing conflict.

While Syrian authorities quickly blamed the Islamic State for the June 22, 2025 suicide bombing that killed 25 Christians and injured 63 others during Divine Liturgy at Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Damascus, members of Syria’s Christian community allege the attack was a government-orchestrated false flag meant to terrorize minorities while preserving plausible deniability.

Christian sources are openly challenging the official narrative. “This statement by the government is a lie, and the Julani government’s narrative should not be conveyed because we give them legitimacy,” one source said.

The reference to “Julani” invokes President al-Sharaa’s former nom de guerre, Abu Muhammad al-Julani, under which he fought with al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) under Abu Musab al-Zarqawi—the group that later became ISIS. Many Syrian Christians believe the current president is the same jihadist leader once wanted by the U.S. with a $10 million bounty.

Sources further allege that “more than one source has confirmed the bomber was a member of General Security affiliated with al-Julani,” suggesting the attack was not carried out by external terrorists but by the regime’s own security forces.

This assessment aligns with Syrian analysts who describe Saraya Ansar al-Sunna as an obscure outfit that emerged following the regime’s collapse in late 2024. Believed to include defectors from HTS and other jihadist factions, it is suspected of being either an independent offshoot or a front for ISIS, reportedly led by former HTS and Hurras al-Din commanders.

The timing has raised particular suspicion: a new group surfaces just months before the worst church attack in over a decade, conveniently providing cover for regime involvement while maintaining the illusion of an external jihadist threat.

The House Oversight Committee sent letters to four senior Biden officials, naming former Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and ex-Chief of Staff Jeff Zients.

Committee Chairman and Kentucky Rep. James Comer announced Friday that he sent letters to four former administration officials —including former senior advisor and White House press secretary Jean-Pierre, Special Assistant to the President Ian Sams, Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates and Zients— demanding they sit for transcribed interviews.

In his statement, Comer said the letter targets former President Joe Biden’s inner circle,accusing them of misleading the public, and said they “repeatedly told the American people that he was ‘sharp as ever,’ dismissing any commentary about his obvious mental decline as ‘gratuitous.’They fed these false talking points to progressive allies and the media, who helped perpetuate that President Biden was fit to serve.”

“As part of our aggressive investigationinto the cover-up of his cognitive decline and potentially unauthorized executive actions, we must hear from those who aided and abetted this farce,” his statement added. (I guess he got the message he wasn’t “aggressive enough”)

In his letter to Jean-Pierre, Comer wrote: “You served as the White House Press Secretary for President Biden during the last two years of his Administration and were a trusted inner-circle confidante as you were promoted to Senior Adviser to the President in October 2024.”

“You were not only near the president daily, but you were ‘alongside the ranks of the president’s top confidantes like senior advisers Mike Donilon, Steve Richetti and Bruce Reed.’Your assertion, on multiple occasions, that President Biden’s decline was attributable to such tactics as ‘cheap fakes’ or ‘misinformation’ cannot go without investigation,” his letter added.

In his letter to Bates, Comer also noted that, in addition to serving in the Biden administration,Bates previously held communications roles during Biden’s 2020 campaignand the Obama-Biden administration.

Comer wrote that,aside from Jean-Pierre, Bates was one of the “most prominent public facing defenders”of Biden’s cognitive fitness.

“The scope of your responsibilities—both official and otherwise—and personal interactions within the Oval Officecannot go without investigation, given the mounting evidence that President Biden was incapacitatedfor much, if not all, of his single term,” Comer added.

In his letter to Zients,the chairman described the Biden White House — under Zients’ leadership—as being in “disarray” as media reports increasingly focused on the president’s “mental capabilities.”

“You managed a White House in disarrayafter public reporting began to focus on the apparent decline of President Biden’s mental capabilities,” the letter stated.

“You reportedly called an all-staff call in July 2024 ‘in which [you] urged President Biden’s team to unite and move forward from Biden’s terrible debate performance[.]’ The scope of your responsibilities—both official and otherwise—and personal interactions within the Oval Office cannot go without investigation,” Comer continued.

The chairman’s letter to Ian Sams details his position in the White House Counsel’s Officein the final two years of the Biden administration.

It describes Sams as the “first line of defense” in managing the administration’s response to negative press coverageand Biden’s reported “mishaps.”

“The scope of your responsibilities—both official and otherwise—and personal interactions within the Oval Office cannot go without investigation, given the mounting evidence that President Biden was incapacitated for much, if not all, of his single term,” Comer said.

Neera Tanden allegedly testified to the committee Tuesday that she authorized the use of the autopen but was uncertain who gave the final approval, according to a statement from the chairman.

Biden administration aides, Ashley Williams and Annie Tomasini, are also scheduled to take part in transcribed interviews.

In a statement released Wednesday, Comer criticized Bernal for withdrawing from his testimony despite initially agreeing to appear voluntarily, accusing him of avoiding accountability now that executive privilege has been lifted.

Comer subpoenaed Jill Biden’s longtime aide, Anthony Bernal, on Thursday after he failed to voluntarily appear before the committee in its probe into President Biden’s cognitive decline.

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI — State police used a drone to lure a man out of a Saginaw Township bank during an hours-long hostage standoff on Friday, June 27.

The man took a Mercantile Bank employee hostage inside the building at 5444 State St. around 5:30 p.m., state police reported on X.

The bank is located along one of Saginaw Township’s busiest commercial districts. About a half-mile of State Street — from Center to Wieneke roads — was shut down to traffic by police for several hours.

Spectators watched from a distance as a drone hovered above the area of focus. Police asked spectators to stop filming as the drone lowered toward the area of the bank.

The drone was used to deliver a beverage to the suspect as police negotiated with him, said MSP spokesperson Lt. Kim Vetter said.

“When he exposed himself, the trooper was able to take a shot,” Vetter said.

Spectators heard an explosion at 8:05 p.m., MLive previously reported. Ambulances drove to the area of focus immediately after.

The man was killed, while the hostage was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injures and is in “good” condition, Vetter said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the standoff, including Saginaw Township Police and the Saginaw Police Department.

State police said the incident remains under investigation.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has declared that Hungary will not support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, citing an overwhelming mandate from a national vote in which 95 percent of participants opposed Ukrainian membership.

Speaking in Brussels, Orbán revealed that 2,168,431 Hungarian citizens voted against Ukraine joining the EU, out of a total of 2,278,000 valid votes cast. Just 5 percent supported the idea.

“I came here with a strong mandate. My voice has grown deeper — after all, I will speak today in the voice of more than 2 million Hungarians when I say during negotiations that Hungary does not support Ukraine’s EU membership. These are the stark facts,” he said.

Over the last four years, I have heard from countless families and small businesses across Louisiana that have been struggling to make ends meet because of record inflation caused by the out-of-control government spending and radical regulations under President Joe Biden.

From hardworking parents who have seen their grocery and gasoline bills skyrocket to the small business owner being crushed by crazy Washington regulations, Americans have had it.

Enough is enough. That’s why last fall Louisiana overwhelmingly joined in the mandate that put President Donald Trump back in the White House and gave Republicans majorities in the House and Senate to restore American greatness and put our country back on track.

To deliver on this mandate, I have been working with my colleagues in Congress to implement President Trump’s America First agenda and get the One Big Beautiful Bill signed into law.

This important bill will secure our southern border by providing much needed resources to hire more ICE and Border Patrol agents, complete construction of the border wall and invest in technology to combat the flow of fentanyl.

Most importantly, this bill will deliver on our promise to provide real relief to hardworking Louisiana families and small businesses who’ve been struggling for too long. It will generate economic growth, higher wages and investment like we haven’t seen in years.

Louisiana has a lot to gain from the One Big Beautiful Bill.

In 2017, I helped pass the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which put more money in the pockets of every Louisiana taxpayer and grew our economy. It lowered tax rates, doubled the standard deduction and increased the Child Tax Credit for hardworking families. President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill will make this tax relief permanent.

If this bill does not become law, Americans will face the largest tax increase in our nation’s history. Without this legislation, the average Louisiana taxpayer would see a 24% tax increase, more than 500,000 Louisiana families would see their Child Tax Credit cut in half, more than 250,000 small businesses would face a 43.4% tax rate and those relying on overtime and tips would continue to pay taxes on that income.

In fact, a family of four earning about $58,000, which is the median household income in Louisiana, would see a $1,200 tax increase each year if this bill doesn’t become law. By contrast, the Council of Economic Advisers found that same family with two children in Louisiana would realize a $6,400 to $10,600 increase in take-home pay over the next four years and beyond because of the One Big Beautiful Bill.

President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill will not only secure this tax relief, but it will also restore American energy security.

As an energy producing state, Louisiana is especially well-positioned for economic growth under this bill because it requires 30 offshore lease sales in the Gulf of America over the next 15 years, providing much-needed predictability for domestic offshore oil and gas exploration and production and securing good-paying jobs for our local economy. Under President Biden, we saw an all-out assault on American energy with the fewest offshore lease sales in our nation’s history.

I was also able to secure language in the bill to increase the amount of revenue sharing dollars Louisiana receives each year from offshore drilling. This provision in the bill will bring hundreds of millions of new dollars to Louisiana for our vital coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects. We must continue to invest in flood control, coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects using revenue from offshore energy exploration and production to not only restore our coast but to better prepare our communities and protect the lives and livelihoods of families who live here.

With so much at stake for Louisiana, we must deliver on the mandate demanded by the American people and send the One Big Beautiful Bill to President Trump’s desk to become law, and begin another golden age of American recovery.

Bezos is holding a three day event, yes three days, in Venice at a cost of somewhere in the region of $50-100 million.

While the exact same people lecture you about taking the occasional economy flight for a family getaway, they’re literally chartering their own carbon spewing flights just for themselves to attend a piss up.

On average, private jets emit about 2 to 3 metric tons of CO2 per flight hour.

A typical short flight, around 500 mile for example, emits somewhere in the region of 5-10 tons of CO2, while a long-haul flight of 3,000 miles could emit 20-30 tons. This is significantly higher per person than commercial flights, often 10-20 times more, as private jets carry fewer passengers.

IDF sources tell Haaretz that Gaza has become “a place with its own set of rules” where they are interacting with civilians with whom “your only means of interaction is opening fire.” Deadly military weapons are used as crowd control to steer the starving populace wherever it’s determined they’re supposed to be, routinely killing desperate aid seekers.

Judge Deborah Boardman, who issued the 1st nationwide injunction against the president's birthright citizenship exec order and was overturned by SCOTUS yesterday, already has set a Monday afternoon hearing on a motion filed shortly after SCOTUS' decision was announced.

The emergency motion for a temp restraining order is being sought by CASA, the group involved in the SCOTUS decision.
