Nation-State Chinese Hackers Hit Drone Sector in Supply Chain Attacks

Dubbed Earth Ammit and believed to be tied to Chinese APTs, the hacking group was seen launching two attack campaigns between 2023 and 2024, targeting organizations across multiple sectors to compromise trusted supply chains.

Named Tidrone and Venom, the campaigns hit military, heavy industry, software services, satellite, technology, media, and healthcare organizations, using both open source and custom tools to achieve malicious goals.

The Tidrone campaign was initially detailed in September 2024, after the Chinese hackers were seen abusing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and remote desktop access to deploy the Cxclnt and Clntend backdoors, steal information, and disable security protections.

In a fresh report, Trend Micro explains that the Venom campaign occurred prior to Tidrone, targeting service providers and technology companies in Taiwan, and heavy industry firms in South Korea.

“Earth Ammit’s strategy centered around infiltrating the upstream segment of the drone supply chain.

By compromising trusted vendors, the group positioned itself to target downstream customers – demonstrating how supply chain attacks can ripple out and cause broad, global consequences,” Trend Micro notes.

Earth Ammit, the cybersecurity firm says, used a combination of two types of supply chain attack techniques in these campaigns: the group tampered with legitimate software used by the target companies and compromised upstream vendors to deliver malware to the connected systems.

The Venom campaign relied on web server vulnerability exploitation for webshell deployment, followed by the deployment of open source proxy tools and remote access tools to achieve persistence.

Next, the attackers harvested credentials from the victim, to use them in attacks against downstream customers.

In Tidrone attacks, the hackers targeted service providers for code injection and the distribution of malware to their customers.

Next, they deployed their customized backdoors for cyberespionage purposes, Trend Micro notes.

Follow-up activities included privilege escalation, establishing persistence, credential dumping, the disabling of security software, and information collection.

In addition to Cxclnt and Clntend, Earth Ammit used customized tools such as Screencap (screen capture tool) and Venfrpc (fast reverse proxy), both adapted from utilities available on GitHub.

The threat actor was also seen relying on fiber-based techniques for evasion.

“In the Venom campaign, Earth Ammit primarily leveraged open-source tools, likely due to their accessibility, low cost, and ability to blend in with legitimate activity.

However, as the operation matured, they shifted toward deploying custom-built malware – notably in the Tidrone campaign – to increase precision and stealth in targeting sensitive sectors,” Trend Micro notes.

New drone patrols in the Western Balkans will be paid for by the UK in a desperate bid to slash the number of illegal migrants making it to the English Channel.

Sir Keir Starmer travelled to Albania last night before talks today on building co-operation aimed at closing down one of the main routes for migrants trying to enter Europe illegally.

He is also expected to discuss Albania's part in a radical scheme designed to 'offshore' the processing of thousands of migrants landing in Italy – an initiative some ministers believe could one day be copied by the UK.

The Prime Minister is under pressure to step up action to tackle the Channel migrant crisis following a surge in arrivals since Labour came to power.

Arrivals this year have topped 12,000 – a 40 per cent rise from 2024. More than 600 crossed on Monday as the PM was giving his speech vowing a crackdown on immigration.

The leap in numbers threatens to make a mockery of Labour's plan to 'smash the gangs', with ministers now resorting to blaming the fine weather for the increase in illegal crossings.

But Sir Keir will today insist that progress is being made in tackling the organised crime gangs trafficking migrants to the UK.

He will say that working alongside Albania – much of which was started by the last Conservative government – is 'delivering security' in both countries.

'Our joint work to deter, detect and return illegal migrants is further proof that intervening upstream to protect British shores and secure our borders is the right approach,' he will say.

'Every step we take to tackle illegal migration overseas, cripple the criminal networks that facilitate it and stem the finance streams that fund it is delivering safer streets in the UK and reducing the strain on taxpayer-funded services.'

The UK is already funding new drones to track migrants being trafficked through the mountainous border region with Kosovo, where vehicle access is difficult.

Some are equipped with automatic registration plate recognition cameras – enabling them to spot any British vehicles thought to be linked to Albanian smuggling gangs.

Former Rutgers professor charged with child pornography

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A former lecturer at Rutgers is accused of having more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography at his home in Franklin Township, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced here on Wednesday

The man is Elliott Souder, 51, and he was charged April 30 with receipt and possession of child pornography. He appeared in Trenton federal court last Tuesday.

Souder was formerly employed as a creative writing professor at Rutgers New Brunswick, in the English department. He no longer works for Rutgers, said the university.

When police executed a search warrant at Souder's home in 2022, they said they found more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography on his computer's hard drive. Some of the images and videos depicted prepubescent children, toddlers and infants and sadomasochism on children, according to federal prosecutors.

According to the annual report that was just released by Planned Parenthood, the organization is performing more abortions than ever before…

402,230 abortions, an all-time high, and up from last year’s 392,715 abortions.

367,594 breast cancer screenings and Pap tests, down from 410,272 the previous year.

129,594 preventive care visits, roughly the same as last year’s 129,216.

2,148 adoption referrals, up from 1,721 the previous year but half the referrals made just five years ago.

2,223,680 contraceptive services, down from 2,250,913 the previous year.

2.08 million patients, slightly up from last year’s 2.05 million, but quite a drop-off from the 2.4 million reported five years ago.

Abortion is a key revenue generator for Planned Parenthood, and that is one of the reasons why it is pushed so hard over other services that are deemed to be less important…

Other pro-life commentators criticized the group, based on its latest report. “Planned Parenthood receives increased taxpayer dollars annually while actual health services regularly decrease,” Carole Novielli wrote for Live Action. “The organization now commits over 57 abortions for every one prenatal care service, and kills over 187 preborn babies for every one adoption referral.”

Those numbers are so revealing.

Ultimately, abortion is what Planned Parenthood is all about.

And now they are even helping women that live in states where abortion is restricted travel to other states where they can receive abortions…

For the second year in a row, Planned Parenthood also touted how it helps women from pro-life states travel elsewhere to get abortions. The abortion giant reports assisting more than 100,000 women seeking abortions in the past year. More than 12,500 women received on average $275 to go toward travel costs. That’s more than $3.4 million in direct funding for abortion travel.

The blood of the children that are being slaughtered is crying out for justice.

US lifts sanctions on Russia-linked international oil project

The Treasury Department has issued a new license easing restrictions on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium

The US government has allowed American and international companies to resume oil-related work involving a major Russia-linked project to deliver Caspian oil to the global market.The license, lifting restrictions on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and the Kazakh company Tengizchevroil (TCO), was issued by the Treasury Department on Thursday.

The CPC includes major US oil companies such as Chevron and ExxonMobil among its stakeholdersand primarily facilitates the export of Kazakh oil through Russian territory and its shipment internationally.

The new General License No. 124 permits all transactions that were blocked under a January 10 decision which prohibited certain petroleum services involving Russia-related energy infrastructure.

CPC operates a major pipeline that transports oil from western Kazakhstan to the Black Sea coast of Russia, from where it is shipped globally by tanker.The 1,511-kilometer pipeline is one of the most important export routes for Kazakh oil, handling over 80% of the country’s crude exports.

The pipeline is jointly owned by multiple companies and governments. Russia holds a 24% stake through the state-owned operator Transneft. Other major shareholders include Chevron, ExxonMobil, Russia’s Lukoil and Kazakhstan’s national oil company KazMunayGas. Several smaller international firms also own shares.

Tengizchevroil is a joint venture that runs the massive Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. It was formed in 1993 and is owned by Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil (25%), KazMunayGas (20%), and Lukoil (5%).

The earlier sanctions were imposed under Executive Order 14071, which targets services related to Russian energy projects.However, US authorities have made exceptions for projects that are considered critical to global energy markets or involve non-Russian stakeholders.

General License No. 121, issued in January, had already temporarily allowed some services for CPC and TCO. That license remains valid until June 28, 2025, but the new license appears to clarify and reaffirm that companies may continue their involvement in these projects without penalty until then.

According to the Treasury, the license covers activities like drilling, refining, transportation, and marketing of oil – provided they are connected to CPC or Tengizchevroil.

Earlier this year, CPC was forced to temporarily halt operations following two attacks by Ukrainian drones that damaged oil transfer stations linked to the pipeline network on Russian territory. The attacks came after Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump approved a partial ceasefire, under which both Moscow and Kiev committed to refraining from strikes on energy infrastructure.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) flagged four bathroom and kitchen faucet brands sold on Amazon for potentially leaching lead at levels above federal safety limits.

Prolonged exposure to heavy metals like lead has been linked to learning disabilities, autism, cancer, kidney disease, birth defects and cardiovascular problems.

The CPSC found that the brands—CEINOL, KZH, Rainsworth, and VESLA HOME—lacked required safety certifications and may be releasing unsafe levels of lead.

These faucets, priced between $30 and $70, were purchased by thousands of Americans.

CPSC Acting Chairman Peter Feldman said: 'CPSC is taking extraordinary steps to protect Americans from toxic faucets that threaten our children.

'This Commission will not hesitate to warn Americans when necessary. CPSC remains focused on the biggest threat to American consumers: hazardous goods from China.'

CPSC has urged consumers to immediately stop using and dispose of these faucets or only consume water from the faucets after running the water for 15 seconds.

China, Cartels, And Cash: How Chinese Operatives Are Laundering Mexican Drug Money In Broad Daylight

Mexican drug cartels are partnering with Chinese money laundering networks to funnel hundreds of millions of dollars in drug proceeds to Chinese nationals in the United States, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.

The Sinaloa Cartel — formerly headed by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán — is allegedly working with Chinese groups based in the U.S. to funnel hundreds of millions of dollars in cartel cash through American banks and ultimately into the hands of Chinese nationals living in the U.S., the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

The scheme often begins in Mexico, where cartels make billions of dollars selling cheap drugs into the United States.

Chinese nationals in the U.S. travel to Mexico to pick up large amounts of cash directly from the cartels. They then deposit the cash into a network of accounts held at major American banks before selling it to wealthy Chinese clients who pay using Chinese yuan, according to the Journal. The money laundering groups then purchase low-cost goods from China, which are shipped to Mexico, and sold under the cover of legitimate trade. The proceeds — in pesos — are returned to the cartels.

Chinese laundering groups in the U.S. have grown in prominence in recent years, partly due to financial restrictions imposed by the Chinese government, added the Journal’s report. Beijing prohibits individuals from moving more than $50,000 out of the country in foreign currency, and many wealthy Chinese nationals also face sanctions, creating strong incentives to bypass legal channels. To purchase homes in America or pay for their child’s tuition at an American university, wealthy Chinese buyers have to find cash somewhere else.

Chinese operatives in the U.S. frequently open dozens of bank accounts using forged passports and communicate with their Mexican partners using encrypted Chinese messaging platforms, the Journal further noted. They typically take a 1–2% cut of each transaction.

Some of those involved reportedly entered the U.S. from China on student visas. In one case highlighted by the Journal, a Range Rover was observed collecting bags of cash from multiple houses in Los Angeles linked to a Chinese launderer who was seen crossing the U.S.-Mexico border with a known Sinaloa associate. The vehicle dropped the money off with a Chinese high school student living in a different part of the city, who admitted to receiving more than $60,000 in cash when questioned by law enforcement. Drug-sniffing dogs detected narcotics residue on the bills, according to the Journal.

On June 18, 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the arrest of Los Angeles-based Sinaloa Cartel associates alongside Chinese bankers in a plot to launder drug money which was to be sent back to Mexico. The arrests of the co-conspirators by respective Mexican and Chinese authorities followed the DOJ’s lengthy investigation into the plot, which they had called “Operation Fortune Runner.”

“The Sinaloa Cartel is largely responsible for the massive influx of fentanyl into the United States over the past approximately eight years, and for the accompanying violence and deaths that have afflicted communities on both sides of the border,” the DOJ wrote in a press release at the time. “The cartel’s activities generate enormous sums of U.S. currency in the United States that belong to the cartel in Mexico. Profits from the drug trade must be repatriated to Mexico for use by the cartel.”

In May 2023, a senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official told the Senate that Mexican drug cartels were using Chinese chemicals and equipment to manufacture fentanyl-laced pills that would then be smuggled into the United States.

“As Mexican cartels have taken over fentanyl production and operate on an industrial scale, they are procuring precursor chemicals from China and synthesizing these chemicals in Mexico to produce fentanyl,” Matthew Millhollin, the assistant director of DHS’ Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), said in his testimony to the Senate at the time.

“Increasingly, Chinese actors and markets are thickly intertwined in Mexico’s illegal economies, such as drug and wildlife trafficking and money laundering,” Brookings Institution senior fellow Vanda Felbab-Brown wrote in a 2022 op-ed originally published by Mexico Today. “China is the predominant source of precursor chemicals for Mexican criminal groups – principally the Sinaloa Cartel and Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CNJG) – which then cook fentanyl and methamphetamine from them and smuggle them to the United States and elsewhere.”

Former judge Jeanine Pirro was sworn in as interim U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., on Thursday.

Pirro, 73, will now lead a team of attorneys in defending President Donald Trump's administration in court as well as prosecuting local crimes in the nation's capital.

"Congratulations ⁦Judge Jeanine⁩ who will soon make DC Great Again!" Sergi Gor, the director White House Office of Presidential Personnel, wrote on social media.

President Donald Trump announced he was appointing Pirro to the role last week.

"I am pleased to announce that Judge Jeanine Pirro will be appointed interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia," Trump wrote on social media.

"Jeanine is incredibly well qualified for this position, and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York. She is in a class by herself. Congratulations Jeanine!"

Pirro has left Fox News Channel and a rotation of Fox News personalities will fill her seat on "The Five" until a new co-host is named.

"Jeanine Pirro has been a wonderful addition to The Five over the last three years and a longtime beloved host across FOX News Media who contributed greatly to our success throughout her 14-year tenure. We wish her all the best in her new role in Washington," a spokesperson for FOX News Media said in a statement.

Pirro served as the assistant district attorney and district attorney in New York's Westchester County and became the first woman to serve as a judge in Westchester County Court.

She joined Fox News Channel in 2006 and hosted "Justice with Judge Jeanine" for 11 years before joining "The Five," which has emerged as the most-watched show on cable news.

Trump also announced on Truth Social that Ed Martin, who was the previous interim U.S. attorney in D.C., will be moving to the Department of Justice as its "Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney."

ICE Nabs Accused Hit Man Given Work Permit Under Biden

Federal law enforcement agents arrested an illegal immigrant wanted by Venezuela in connection to four contract killings who crossed the border in 2022 and was given a work permit by the Biden administration.

Anthony Fabian Marin La Torre, 42, was caught by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and the U.S. Marshals Service on May 2 in Grapevine, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, ICE said in a news release.

Marin La Torre was wanted by Interpol for four contract murders, a fatal shooting, and for being a lieutenant of the "El Chamu" gang, the New York Post reported Wednesday. He is being held at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas. ICE said it wasn't until Feb. 18 that Venezuelan authorities notified the U.S. that Marin La Torre was wanted for the contract killings in his home country.

President Donald Trump found a surprising new cheerleader for his foreign policy Thursday: Democratic Rep. Jim Himes.

“I’m not in the habit of praising Donald Trump, but I’ve got to tell you, in the last week or so in the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia it’s a different story,” Himes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, said during an interview at POLITICO’s Security Summit.

To explain his position, the Connecticut lawmaker said he feared as recently as last week that Israel was “hell bent on going to war with Iran” — implying Trump helped avert that. He also lauded Trump’s decision to meet with Syria’s new president during his trip to the Middle East. “I’ve got to tell you, I think the president has, in this last week or so, played the Middle East pretty darn well,” he said.

Himes nonetheless made clear he is far from backing Trump’s foreign strategy writ large.

His compliments for Trump’s policies on Ukraine — where Himes said Trump appeared to be cozying up less to Russia in negotiations over how to end the war — were backhanded, suggesting that until recently, Russia had seen Trump as relatively friendly.

Now, Himes said, “I think the Kremlin is thinking like, ‘Whoa, this president, the United States is not the unconditional ally that we might have thought he was.’”

And, Himes said he remained “horrified” by Trump’s treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office in February, when Trump and Vice President JD Vance tore into the Ukrainian leader for being insufficiently grateful for U.S. military support in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Newly released report says homicides dropped nearly 60% in Denver in 2025

Homicides are down nearly 60% in Denver so far this year, according to the newly released report by the Major Cities Chiefs Association.

It’s a significant drop from last year and one of the biggest declines in violent crime rates in the country.

“Violent crime is just about reducing in every city, but we were the city in which it had declined the most,” said Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas.

Thomas says he is proud to have that distinction, and it speaks to the hard work of his officers.

“We’ve been able to see these significant reductions in crime without over policing communities,” said Thomas. “It’s one of the things we have understood was important and we need to be responsive, but we need to make sure we’re investing as much as we’re enforcing.”

Independent journalist Sara Carter commented:

This marked decrease in violence comes after intensified immigration enforcement under the Trump administration, which had made the Denver metropolitan area a key focus for removals of criminal migrants. ICE has acted swiftly, arresting 538 illegal aliens across multiple cities, including Denver. Shortly thereafter, the agency expanded its efforts in Colorado, zeroing in on members of Tren de Aragua.

Breitbart News reports that despite these federal initiatives, local Democratic leaders resisted cooperation with ICE. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and Colorado Governor Jared Polis were among those who worked to oppose the administration’s actions, which prompted the Trump administration to initiate legal action against Denver and state officials for obstructing federal immigration enforcement.

These are the kind of results that Democrats and the media don’t want the public to see. They don’t want people to know that we don’t have to live with rampant crime and that Trump’s policies work.

Qatar signed a record-setting agreement to purchase as many as 160 aircraft from Boeing on May 14 during President Donald Trump’s visit to the country on the Persian Gulf, part of his Middle East trip that has seen other significant trade deals announced.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s security chief confirmed Tuesday that 17 family members of cartel leaders crossed into the U.S. last week as part of a deal between a son of the former head of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Trump administration.

Mexican Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed a report by independent journalist Luis Chaparro that family members of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who was extradited to the United States in 2023, had entered the U.S.

One of my favorite moments from the first six months of President Trump's first term was when he gave the loathsome James Comey his walking papers and removed him as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It felt as if Trump's dream of draining the Swamp was going to happen. There were some hiccups along the way with that, of course. Still, getting rid of Comey was a positive thing for America.

Comey didn't have much to offer the United States when he was in office, he certainly has no reason to be part of any conversation now. Unfortunately, he isn't aware of that.

We haven't heard from him for a while, and it seems that the lack of attention was getting to Stretch. This is from Victoria:

It doesn't get much more desperate and deranged than this. A former FBI director appears to have called for the assassination of the current president of the United States, Donald Trump. At least that looks like the message being telegraphed by the nation's former top lawman on his social media accounts.

Trust me, he did. Victoria has all of the details. Comey tried to wriggle out of it by playing dumb. He may be 70 different ways of awful, but dumb he is not. He knew what he was doing. Everything this guy does is a Trump Derangement Syndrome-inspired cry for help. He's also an attention whore of the first order.

Well, he may end up wishing that the spotlight were somewhere else.

The Secret Service, Trump family, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard don't find the message to get rid of POTUS all that humorous.

In fact, Gabbard is calling for the former FBI cirector to be arrested and jailed for his threat against President Trump. Yes, she said it.

As I reported in "Did Former FBI Director James Comey Just Call for Trump To Be Murdered?" Comey posted on his Instagram page a collection of seashells spelling out "86 47." Anyone above a certain IQ has heard the term 86—a call to get rid of someone—and knows that 47 refers to Trump 47.

DNI Gabbard really isn't amused. The conversation that she had with Jesse Watters (which Victoria chronicles) was intense. It's a good thing she's on our side now.

It's sad what depths those afflicted with TDS will sink to. The former head of the FBI is now a garden variety lunatic social media troll, and completely comfortable with egging on violence against President Trump. This is a 64-year-old man we're talking about, not some Adderall-ridden kid in his 20s.

Comey definitely deserves a visit from the Secret Service. As I have written many times in recent months, the mentally unstable Trump haters who keep fomenting civil unrest and violence against the president really, really need to start facing consequences.

Seeing the former FBI chief in handcuffs might get some of the other idiots to calm down.

A Wisconsin judge pleaded not guilty on Thursday to charges that she helped an illegal immigrant evade federal authorities. Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was indicted by a federal grand jury earlier this week on charges of obstruction and and concealing a person of arrest, for which she faces up to six years in prison if convicted. The Trump administration has defended its prosecution against Dugan, asserting that nobody is above the law. “Judge Dugan asserts her innocence and looks forward to being vindicated in court,” her attorneys said Tuesday. The Wisconsin Supreme Court has temporarily removed Dugan from her post with the case pending.
