Singer G-Dragon will work with KAIST to have his music sent to space, his agency Galaxy Corporation said Wednesday.

The Big Bang singer will collaborate with the university to have a song and music video, which was created using the generative AI Sora, broadcast into space, according to the agency.

The project is related to NASA's Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence project that shot the Beatles' movie into space, Galaxy Corporation said.

"This move will be a landmark in the so-called entertech field, which encompasses AI and entertainment, as well as space physics," the agency said in a press release.

G-Dragon will discuss his vision for AI and the entertainment sector at the 2025 Innovate Korea seminar at KAIST on Wednesday.

The one-day forum is hosted by the Herald Media Group, KAIST and the National Research Council of Science & Technology.

The singer, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, was appointed visiting professor at KAIST last year.

His agency, a metaverse developer, signed a memorandum of understanding with the university in May to collaborate on finding ways to apply AI in the K-pop industry.

The two established the Galaxy Corporation-KAIST R&D Center to conduct research on AI and other future technologies. The "AI Enterttech Research Center" held its opening ceremony on Wednesday.

Amazon's first big batch of Project Kuiper broadband satellites will take flight today (April 9), and you can watch the action live.

A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket is scheduled to launch 27 Project Kuiper satellites from Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station today during a two-hour window that opens at 7 p.m. EDT (2300 GMT).

Lunar Outpost unveils sleek new 'Eagle' moon rover

The Eagle has landed.

Colorado-based Lunar Outpost just unveiled its new "Eagle" moon rover at the Space Foundation's 40th annual Space Symposium here, and it looks straight out of science fiction.

Sporting a sleek metallic finish and ice-blue LED lighting, the Eagle rover turned quite a few heads on the expo floor this year. But Eagle boasts more than just futuristic looks.

The rover is packed with features designed with the next generation of Artemis program moon explorers in mind and is based on feedback from current NASA astronauts at NASA's Johnson Space Center, according to Lunar Outpost's A.J Gerner.

"We've developed our all of our crew and human interfaces through a lot of testing with NASA Johnson, we've had eight astronauts, even in full pressurized suits, evaluate the design, and their feedback is throughout the vehicle," Gerner told Space.com.

One of the features astronauts particularly enjoyed during testing is the wide, easily accessible front entry area, which is maneuverable even in a bulky spacesuit.

In the configuration shown here at the symposium, the Eagle vehicle features two seats for crew, each with its own redundant and mirrored controls, meaning either astronaut can control the rover.

The steering controls on each side consist of a single handle that controls four individual motors that drive each wheel.

Each wheel can turn independently of the other three, allowing the Eagle rover to turn on its center axis or "crab walk" sideways, Gerner said.

In addition to the hand controller, each seat in the Eagle rover has a multifunction display at eye level for each of the astronauts riding on board.

These displays will fuse feeds from onboard cameras and Lunar Outpost's "Eagle eye" sensors that can see things astronauts' eyes cant, which will come in handy if the vehicle is ever sent to explore regions near the moon's south pole that contain permanently shadowed regions or deep craters where water ice might be hiding.

"The idea is to extend the crew's perception," Gerner said, "and the displays put all that information right at their fingertips."

To help astronauts conduct science and exploration on the lunar surface, Eagle also features tool lockers and refrigerated sample containers to help bring home samples of the moon safely.

Each tool locker features a shelf that can raise up to astronauts' chest height, making it easy for them to reach what they need even in a bulky spacesuit.

Additional tool racks and storage can be added to the racks along the sides of the rear of the vehicle.

But Eagle wasn't just built with astronauts in mind. Gerner said the vehicle can be operated autonomously or by controllers on Earth, allowing it to explore the lunar surface even if astronauts aren't on the moon with it.

Lunar Outpost hopes to have Eagle on the moon by the end of the decade to support NASA's planned Artemis 5 mission.

But the rover is currently in the running alongside two others, designed by Intuitive Machines and Venturi Astrolab, in NASA's quest to find its next "lunar terrain vehicle."

The total potential value of the lunar terrain vehicle services contract is $4.6 billion.

Newly discovered Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN) captured in stunning photo blazing across UK skies

The newly discovered comet, now designated Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN) is making a striking debut in the early morning skies — and astrophotographer Josh Dury had front-row seats to capture it this morning.

"Amazing to witness such a newly discovered comet just several hours after its official designation," Dury told Space.com.

Dury captured Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN) soaring over the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Somerset, U.K. at approximately 4:50 a.m. local time.

"Comets are a great celestial attraction — as these are opportunities to capture dirty snowballs; the oldest objects from the far edges of our solar system," Dury told Space.com.

"Each takes on unique characters of their own in appearance and color, providing signals from the early formation of our place in the universe."

The comet was discovered in late March by Australian amateur astronomer Michael Mattiazzo, using imagery from the SWAN instrument aboard the sun-watching SOHO spacecraft, which maps hydrogen in the solar wind.

Enough observational data has now been collected and the discovery confirmed by the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center, it is now designated Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN).

If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of the comet yourself, you'll need to act quickly.

It will remain visible until around April 14, after which it moves into the constellation Andromeda and becomes lost in the twilight as it approaches the sun.

The comet reaches perihelion — its closest point to the sun — on May 1, after which it will become visible from the southern hemisphere.

"With weather and moon prospects, this was our best chance to observe from the UK," Dury said.

NASA's in a 'weird period' right now, acting chief Janet Petro says

These are strange times for NASA, according to the agency's acting chief.

During the brief tenure of acting NASA Administrator Janet Petro, the agency has laid off employees, slashed budgets, ended key programs, and removed all mentions of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility from its websites.

If this stretch has seemed odd to you, you're not alone; Petro herself characterized it as a "weird period" during a fireside address today (April 8) at the Space Foundation's 40th annual Space Symposium here in Colorado Springs.

So weird, in fact, that Petro added that she thinks she is the person at NASA who is most eager to see billionaire private astronaut Jared Isaacman confirmed as NASA administrator. Isaacman is slated to have his first confirmation hearing tomorrow (April 9).

"I think I am the one most looking forward to that I know across the agency," Petro said today.

The acting administrator opened her fireside chat with Space Foundation CEO Maj. Gen. Heather Pringle (Ret.) by recounting how she came to find out she was given the position of acting administrator after former NASA chief Bill Nelson stepped down in January 2025.

Petro was so surprised by the news after hearing it first from her chief of staff that she thought it was a prank. "I thought he was punking me. I thought it was a joke," Petro told Space Symposium attendees today.

The acting NASA chief elaborated on how she views her role in this "weird" time at the agency, stating that she has been primarily attempting to keep the agency moving forward on its flagship programs of record like the Artemis moon missions or recent partnerships on private moon landings.

But the confirmation of a new agency administrator will "allow us to move forward even faster with some more specificity, if you will," Petro said.

"So along with that, I would say, I like to say I'm sort of preparing to wait for Jared, just making sure that everything is on track," she added.

China to seek out life in the solar system as NASA faces cuts, commercial players expand ambitions

China has unveiled a long-term planetary exploration roadmap for planetary habitability and the search for extraterrestrial life.

Released by the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory (DSEL), the roadmap outlines a series of upcoming and proposed missions targeting key destinations across the solar system.

The plan kicks off with the Tianwen-3 Mars sample return mission, scheduled for launch in 2028, which will search for signs of past or present life. In 2029, Tianwen-4 aims to explore Jupiter and its moon Callisto.

A mission to Venus in 2033 will collect atmospheric particles to probe its microenvironment, and a Mars research station focused on long-term environmental and biological studies is slated for around 2038.

The most ambitious proposal is a nuclear-powered mission to Neptune around 2039, intended to study its atmosphere, rings, and intriguing moon Triton.

Triton, a possible ocean world with a retrograde orbit, shows signs of cryovolcanism, where fluids such as water, ammonia and methane erupt instead of molten rock.

While not officially approved, the mission signals China’s growing interest in outer solar system astrobiology.

China’s planetary habitability roadmap looks like this:

China’s commercial space sector continues to broaden its horizons, as demonstrated by two recent initiatives that underscore a growing diversity of ambitions.

Beijing Ziwei Yutong Technology Co., Ltd. (AZSpace), founded in 2019, has announced ambitious plans to conduct crewed orbital flight tests by 2027 or 2028.

The company intends to launch its self-developed B300 spacecraft in July 2025, followed by the more advanced DEAR-5 spacecraft in September 2025.

These missions aim to verify on-orbit docking and reentry capabilities, marking a significant step towards China’s first commercial crewed spaceflight.

In parallel, Beijing Lanying Xingtong Technology Co., Ltd. (Bluelink Satcom) has secured early-stage funding to develop a satellite network capable of detecting Bluetooth signals from space.

The company plans to launch China’s first Bluetooth satellite by mid-2025, facilitating low-power, wide-area Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity.

The developments follow Chinese central government backing for the commercial space sector and many provinces and cities drawing up action plans to attract space companies and foster their development.

These efforts reflect a broader national strategy to cultivate a diverse and competitive commercial space ecosystem as a driver of growth.

Clandestine geostationary activity

Meanwhile, in geostationary orbit, China is continuing to expand its presence, deploying satellites with advanced capabilities that have raised security concerns among international observers.

The recent launches of the classified TJS-15 and TJS-16 satellites exemplify this trend.

China launched the classified TJS-15 satellite March 9 from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. Days after reaching GEO, a companion object was detected alongside TJS-15.

While cataloged by U.S. Space Force as an apparent apogee kick motor, the launch echoes the earlier TJS-3 mission, signaling possible satellite inspection, rendezvous or other capabilities.

Subsequently, March 29, the TJS-16 satellite was launched from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center aboard a Long March 7A rocket.

While officially described as a communication technology experiment satellite, the lack of detailed information and the nature of previous TJS missions suggest that TJS-16 may possess advanced functionalities, including signals intelligence or early warning capabilities.

Mission patches issued by the satellites’ maker appear to represent two of the Four Heavenly Kings indicating the two missions may be linked, with more to come.

On Mar. 21, Front Door launched Orbital Watch, its rapid communication platform, and released an unclassified threat fact sheet authored by Headquarters Space Force Intelligence to over 900 commercial providers in the Front Door’s catalog.

As space threats continue to evolve—from cyber intrusions and electronic warfare to adversarial on-orbit activities—Orbital Watch intends to communicate critical unclassified threat information to ensure commercial providers can build resilient systems and mitigate threats.

“This initiative is in direct alignment with the DoD Commercial Space Integration Strategy and the USSF Commercial Space Strategy, as well as congressional guidance” said Col. Richard Kniseley, senior materiel leader, SSC Commercial Space Office.

“Front Door has vast ties to industry right now and a clear mechanism for communicating threat information. The goal is sharing threat information in a timely manner, and Front Door is well equipped to do that.”

In an era of increasing threats, Orbital Watch is the culmination of partnerships with various organizations within the government intelligence community, such as the Director of National Intelligence, Office of the Secretary of Defense for Space Policy, Space Force Intelligence Office and the Commercial Integration Cell – a commercial integration cell within the U.S. Space Command.

Front Door is taking decisive steps to strengthen collaboration with commercial space providers, improve collective situational awareness, and enhance overall resilience in the space domain.

“Front Door is moving out on this essential effort,” said Victor Vigliotti, director, SSC Front Door.

“We are providing our commercial partners the information needed to increase system resilience and mitigate threats, both of which are foundational to the successful integration of commercial space capabilities in national security space architectures.

Front Door is the USSF organization with the technological capability and authority to disseminate unclassified threat information to a growing catalog of commercial space providers in a timely and organized manner.”

Orbital Watch will roll out in phases. Its initial operating capability, or beta phase, is focused on outbound dissemination on a quarterly basis that provides industry with assessments of evolving risks in the space domain.

As Front Door works to identify and consolidate additional sources of unclassified threat information, Orbital Watch’s cadence of dissemination will increase, ensuring commercial operators receive timely and actionable threat information.

The full operational capability phase of Orbital Watch will introduce a secure “Commercial Portal,” enabling two-way threat information sharing between the government and commercial space providers deemed critical to Space Force operations.

“The launch of Orbital Watch truly marks the beginning of a new age for threat information sharing and solves a critical challenge for both the government and industry,” said Vigliotti. “U.S. adversaries are moving fast; we need to move faster.

Orbital Watch is essential in developing collaborative and dynamically hybrid security architectures, which starts with commercial partners’ security and resiliency with lasting effects that will ensure our warfighters and operations remain protected from growing space threats.”

Tim Pool met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday night to express "concerns about increased antisemitism and anti-Zionism in the pro-Trump podcasting space," according to Jewish Insider.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried to push back against anti-Israel trends in the right-wing media world by holding a briefing in the Blair House for podcasters and other media figures, sources in the meeting told Jewish Insider on Tuesday.

Among those in attendance were podcasters including Dave Rubin, Tim Pool and former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, writers Bethany Mandel and David J. Harris Jr., influencer Jessica Kraus, Commentary senior editor Seth Mandel and Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway.

In addition to Netanyahu, his diplomatic advisor Ophir Falk and Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter were present on the Israeli side.

Pool expressed concerns about increased antisemitism and anti-Zionism in the pro-Trump podcasting space, according to sources in the room. Pool famously had Kanye West on his podcast, and the rapper walked out mid-interview after Pool pushed back against antisemitic comments.

Responding to Pool, Netanyahu said that is the reason he invited the group to meet with him.

Pool argued that there is a Qatari "op" to manipulate social media algorithms to make antisemitic and anti-Israel episodes appear to receive far more views than, say, tips for picking up women, in order to incentivize podcasters and YouTubers to produce more antisemitic content.

Netanyahu, however, was noncommittal in his response, saying only that "it's possible."

When asked about Jewish Insider's report on X, Pool responded, "Fake and gay."

I reached out to every podcaster reported to have taken part in the meeting with Netanyahu for comment.

Interestingly, Tim Pool is the only one disclosing on X that the meeting even took place.

The idea that opposition to Israel's genocide in Gaza is a Qatari op is an Israeli op that was popularized by Israel's Diaspora Ministry last year.

If JI's report is true, it means that while conservatives like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson and other right-wingers like Dan Bilzerian and Andrew Tate are putting their careers on the line to speak out against Israel's genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, Tim Pool was holding a private meeting with Netanyahu discussing how to shut it all down.

On March 25, Donald Trump signed an executive order declassifying all documentation related to Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI’s 2016 investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. The order has unexpectedly resurrected buried documents that cast new light on the Steele dossier — and when it was known to be false.

It is unclear what new information will be revealed, given substantial previous declassifications, two special counsel investigations, multiple congressional inquiries, several civil lawsuits, and a scathing Justice Department internal review. It has long been confirmed the FBI relied heavily on Steele’s discredited dossier to secure warrants against Trump aide Carter Page, despite grave internal concerns about its origins and reliability, and Steele’s sole “subsource” for all its lurid allegations openly admitted in interviews with the Bureau he could offer no corroboration for any of the dossier’s claims.

Such inconvenient facts and damning disclosures were nonetheless concealed from the public for several years following the dossier’s January 2017 publication by BuzzFeed News, now defunct. In the intervening time, it became the central component of the Russiagate narrative, a conspiracy theory that was a major rallying point for countless mainstream journalists, pundits, public figures, Western intelligence officials, and elected lawmakers. In the process, Steele attained mythological status. For example, NBC News dubbed the former MI6 operative “a real-life James Bond.”

Primetime news networks dedicated countless hours to the topic, while leading media outlets invested enormous time, energy and money into verifying the dossier’s claims without success. Undeterred, legacy reporters relied on a roster of mainstream “Russia experts,” including prominent British and U.S. military and intelligence veterans, and briefings from anonymous officials to reinforce Steele’s credibility and the likely veracity of his dossier. As award-winning investigative journalist Aaron Maté told MintPress News:

Media outlets served as unquestioning stenographers for Steele. If his dossier’s claims themselves weren’t sufficient to dismiss it with ridicule, another obvious marker should have set off alarms. Reading the dossier chronologically, a clear pattern emerges – many of its most explosive claims are influenced by contemporary media reporting. For instance, it was only after Wikileaks published the DNC emails in July 2016 that the dossier mentioned them. This is just one example demonstrating the dossier’s true sources were overactive imaginations and mainstream news outlets.”

Even more damningly, leaked documents reviewed by MintPress News reveal that while Western journalists were hard at work attempting to validate Steele’s dossier and elevating the MI6 spy to wholly undeserved pillars of probity, the now-defunct private investigations firm GPW Group was, in early 2017, secretly unearthing vast amounts of damaging material that fatally undermined the dossier’s content, and comprehensively dismantling Steele’s previously unimpeachable public persona. It remains speculative what impact the firm’s findings might have had if they had been released publicly at the time.

Ex-head counselor at all-boys' Catholic HS pleads guilty to sexual abuse of student after nude pics, office tryst revealed

The former longtime counselor is not permitted within 1,000 feet of any school and will have to register as a sex offender.

Aformer head counselor at an all-boys' Catholic high school in Ohio has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a student.

On Monday, 43-year-old Emily Nutley reportedly welled up with tears as she pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. Nutley is not permitted to be within 1,000 feet of any school.

One of the alleged sexual encounters occurred in the counselor's office at the school after hours.

Nutley had been a head counselor at St. Xavier High School in Springfield Township.

The prosecutor said Nutley had additional contact with the student "outside of school hours."

Soon thereafter, the counselor reportedly sent nude photos and sexually explicit text messages to the student.

Nutley allegedly began a sexual relationship with the underage student in mid-November 2023, according to court documents.

A prosecutor stated, "Nutley is alleged to have performed oral sex on the male victim at least one time while on the campus of St. Xavier High School and one additional time while off campus."

One of the alleged sexual encounters occurred in the counselor's office at the school after hours.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers stated, "When the victim attempted to stop the encounters, Nutley continued to contact the victim via text messages."

Following an internal investigation at the school, Nutley was fired on Oct. 11, 2024.

A few weeks later, Nutley was indicted on child sex crime charges. She had initially been charged with six counts of felony sexual battery.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Nutley's husband filed for divorce less than a month after the charges were announced. She is reportedly the mother of three children.

Nutley allegedly had been a licensed school counselor for 18 years.

Prosecutors believe there was only one victim.

Powers added, "This child was in need of help and guidance but instead found an adult looking to act out her perverted sexual desires. This child was the victim of an adult predator who should never again have a role that puts her in contact with children. She used this child for her own sexual gratification while taking advantage of the position she held."

Nutley's sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 10.

Nutley faces up to 10 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

A county judge agreed, according to the Orange County Register:

“There is no showing that a voter identification requirement compromises the integrity of a municipal election,” Orange County Superior Court Judge Nico Dourbetas wrote in his ruling.

A three-judge panel in theFourth District Court of Appeal, which took an early look at the arguments in the case in February, had described the city’s argument that “it had a constitutional right to regulate its own municipal elections free from state interference”as “problematic.” The panel had asked the Superior Court judge to reconsider his earlier ruling.

The case now proceeds through the state appellate system. The left-wing California Supreme Court is likely to side against the city, possibly setting up a U.S. Supreme Court appeal.

Meanwhile, Republicans in the state recently launched an effort to put a referendum on the ballot in 2026 to require voter ID. President DonaldTrump had also said he would like to see future aid to the state conditioned on voter ID.

Meta Keeps Big MAGA Accounts on Ban List as Mark Zuckerberg Lobbies Trump

Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly lobbying the Trump administration to drop a pivotal FTC case against the company, in what would amount to a major political favor for Meta. Despite Zuckerberg’s multiple olive branches to the Turmp administration, a number of high-profile, pro-MAGA voices are still banned on Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Mark Zuckerberg has made regular visits to the White House urging the president to lean on the FTC to drop its case against Meta. If the FTC were to prevail in the case, Meta could be forced to divest from WhatsApp and Instagram, breaking up the company.

In January, Zuckerberg made several public overtures to the Trump administration, praising parts of its policy platform in an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, and criticizing the outgoing Biden administration for its censorship demands during COVID. Zuckerberg also announced a policy pivot at Meta, promising to “get back to our roots” of supporting free speech.

On October 30, 2020, we requested that the Department of Justice (DOJ) declassify several types of records, including then-Director Comey’s briefing notes and FBI Lync messages, relating to Crossfire Hurricane. The DOJ recently produced to the Committees the enclosed partially declassified document titled “Director’s Briefing Notes Crossfire Hurricane” dated May 1, 2017. This document appears to summarize the FBI’s investigative efforts, as of May 1, 2017, relating to subjects of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, namely, George Papadopoulos, Michael Flynn, Carter Page, and Paul Manafort.

This 11-page document includes information about the status of the then-ongoing investigations into those individuals and references new information obtained through witness interviews. One of the witnesses named in the section of the document labeled “Michael Flynn [CROSSFIRE RAZOR]” is Miles Taylor. [1] Although the document does not fully explain the FBI’s interest in Taylor in relation to Flynn, the memo included a “place holder” for an “interview w/ Miles Taylor.” [2]

Taylor previously worked for the House of Representatives and then in 2017 he joined the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), eventually rising to become then-Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s chief of staff in February 2019. [3] In late October 2020, Taylor revealed that he was the anonymous author of a September 2018 New York Times op-ed titled, “I am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration” where he stated that he intended to “thwart” President Trump’s agenda while he was in the administration. [4] Taylor resigned from DHS in June 2019 and shortly thereafter, in November 2019, he published a book titled “A Warning,” which was also critical of President Trump. [5]

The FBI document appears to list meetings that Taylor had with Michael Flynn’s lobbying organization, the Flynn Intel Group, in October 2016. [6] The document also noted that a “witness interview of Miles Taylor, mentioned in the FARA documents, indicated Flynn Intel Group’s involvement with a late 2016 Turkey-related briefing to the now-National Security Adviser to the Vice President.” [7] Further, under a Flynn subsection titled “[m]oving forward in the near-term,” the FBI wrote, “[b]ased on Miles Taylor interview + open source reporting, considering an interview of former CIA Director James Woolsey [REDACTED].” [8]

This heavily-redacted document suggests that the FBI spoke directly to Taylor and it also provides additional information relating to Crossfire Hurricane. Accordingly, we request that the entire document be further declassified. We believe that further declassification is appropriate at this time because, among other factors, the Inspector General’s review of Crossfire Hurricane is closed; the investigation has already been the subject of years of oversight, public hearings, and document productions; and there is a strong public interest in knowing and understanding what really transpired between and among federal government officials relating to Crossfire Hurricane. Together, these factors outweigh the need to further protect the information contained in the classified records.

In addition, we request all records relating to the FBI’s interview of Miles Taylor, including all 302s and notes, to better understand his role in the Flynn investigation. Please produce this information as soon as possible but no later than November 30, 2020. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Supreme Court allows Trump to fire independent agency members

The case raises broad constitutional questions aboutwhether Congress can set up agencies that prevent the president from removing officials without cause.

WASHINGTON —The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered that, for now, President Donald Trump is not required to reinstate two members of independent federal agencies he wants to fire.

The provisional decision affects Gwynne Wilcox, a member of the National Labor Relations Board, and Cathy Harris, a member of the Merit Systems Protection Board.

Chief Justice John Roberts issued an order that temporarily blocked lower court rulings that said the two officials should be reinstated.

The court will decide what next steps to take in the case after hearing from lawyers for the two ousted officials.

Although the Supreme Court previously upheld protections against members of independent agencies being removed without cause, the current conservative majority has reversed course in recent cases affecting other agencies.

Wilcox was appointed to the body that adjudicates labor disputes by then-President Joe Bidenin 2021. Her five-year term would have expired in 2026. Under federal law, thepresident can only fire members "for neglect of duty or malfeasance in office."

Biden appointed Harris in 2022 to a seven-year term that has similar protections against removal. The Merit Systems Protection Board handles disputes involving federal employees.

Trump sought to fire both soon after taking office.

Wilcox and Harris both sued and won at the district court level. An appeals court panel initially ruled for Trump but, in a later ruling in which the entire bench of judges participated, reversed course in a 7-4 vote, prompting the administration to go to the Supreme Court.

In recent rulings, the Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, has ruled that provisions protecting single heads of independent agencies were unconstitutional. But a 1935 precedent that upheld the structure of multimember agencies remains on the books.

Conservative lawyers who favor broad presidential powerhave long argued that independent agencies are not sufficiently accountable to the democratically elected president under the Constitution's separation of powers provision. The president should be able to fire agency heads at will, they argue.

Solicitor General D. John Sauer said in court papers that,because of the lower court rulings, Wilcox and Harris are effectively "exercising the president's executive power over the president's express objection."

Lurking in the background of any effort to overturn the 1935 ruling, Humphrey's Executor v. United States, is whether thepresident would have the power to fire members of the Federal Reserve, which traditionally operates independently of the White House.

Gwynne Wilcox was confirmed by the Senate on September 6, 2023 to serve a second term as Board Member ending August 27, 2028. Ms. Wilcox previously served as a Member of the Board from August 4, 2021 until August 27, 2023, and she served as Chair of the Board from December 17, 2024 to January 20, 2025. On January 27, 2025, President Donald J. Trump removed Ms. Wilcox from the Board prior to her term’s expiration in 2028.

Ms. Wilcox is the first Black woman to serve on the Board since its inception in 1935, and is also the first Black woman to serve as Chair of the NLRB. In November 2021, Wilcox was presented with the Honorable Bernice B. Donald Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Legal Profession Award by the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section. The award is given to a member, law firm, corporation, organization or academic institution “that has demonstrated leadership in and commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession.”

Previous to her appointment, Wilcox was a senior partner at Levy Ratner, P.C., a New York City labor and employment law firm. While there, she served as Associate General Counsel of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and as a labor representative to the NYC Office of Collective Bargaining. Prior to joining Levy Ratner, she worked as a Field Attorney at Region 2 of the NLRB in Manhattan. Wilcox holds a bachelor’s from Syracuse University, a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark, and is a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

China has made an offer to Australia in a bid to boost trade and growth between the two nations as the tit-for-tat tariff war continues with Donald Trump hitting Beijing with 125 per cent levies.

China has offered to "join hands" with Australia in the face of the escalating tariff war that has seen the United States hit Beijing with 125 per cent tariffs overnight.

President Donald Trump stunningly put a 90-day pause on "reciprocal" tariffs against dozens of nations, dropping the high levy for most countries to just 10 per cent.

But China was not spared as the tit-for-tat tariff war between Beijing and Washington heats up day by day, with 125 per cent tariffs on Chinese goods effective immediately.

Earlier this week trillions of dollars had been wiped off stock markets across the world following the "liberation day" announcement, but surged back up on Thursday.

With the relationship between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping becoming unstable, Beijing is looking to other global partners to bolster relations.

Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian said Beijing and Canberra must maintain their "open and cooperative" trade relationship amid the unpredictability of the US.

“Under the circumstances, China stands ready to join hands with Australia and the international community to jointly respond to the changes of the world," Mr Xiao said.

“In the meantime, China is also committed to working with Australia to implement the strategic consensus reached by the leaders of our two countries.”

In an opinion piece to the Sydney Morning Herald Mr Xiao also hit out at the US, saying "there is no winner in a trade or tariff war and protectionism leads nowhere".

"Against the backdrop of globalisation, countries around the world are closely intertwined by interests. Any unilateral measures would lead to far-reaching global repercussions and no country can stand to gain by harming others," he wrote.

"The US claims it has suffered losses in international trade and is using so-called “reciprocity” to justify raising tariffs on all its trading partners. This approach disregards the balance of interests achieved through years of multilateral trade negotiations and ignores the fact the US has long reaped substantial benefits from international trade."

Australia's two-way trade with China totalled $325 billion in 2023-24.

Idaho is set to become the latest state in the United States to allow anti-parasite drug ivermectin to be sold without a prescription after the state Legislature passed a measure.

Senate Bill 1211 was easily approved in the state Legislature on Friday and delivered that same day to Gov. Brad Little’s desk.

The bill, according to its text, “adds to existing law to provide that ivermectin may be sold or purchased without a prescription or consultation with a health care professional,” meaning it can be sold over the counter.

The bill passed 29–9 in the state Senate and 66–1 in the House.

Little has not publicly commented on whether he will sign the bill or not. The Epoch Times contacted the governor’s office for comment Sunday.

Sen. Tammy Nichols, a Republican, presented the bill on the floor on April 3. “We’re not mandating use, we’re not prescribing treatment, and we are not mandating that it be sold,” Nichols told KTVB-7. “What we’re doing with this bill is simple. We’re removing a barrier.”

A co-sponsor of the bill, Senate President Pro Tempore Kelly Anthon, a Republican, said that the drug has a wide range of applications.

“This is a drug that has had really immeasurable impacts on improving the lives of billions and billions of people throughout the world since it was discovered. It’s been called, in many places, a wonder drug,” Anthon told lawmakers in an Idaho Senate committee in on-camera remarks last week. “It’s been able to serve in treating and in many ways curing human diseases—treating parasites, worms in humans. And in most countries, it is legal over the counter.”

The FBI did nothing at first, but more than a year later suspended my security clearance. Under the supervision of Jeff Veltri and Dena Perkins, investigators questioned my co-workers about whether I ever vocalized support for President Trump or objections to the COVID-19 vaccine. A fourth FBI whistleblower and a registered Democrat said, “As a Security Division employee, I witnessed abuses committed against multiple employees by FBI senior leaders, particularly by Jeff Veltri and Dena Perkins. I also saw Security Division retaliate against five of its own employees for protesting these unlawful practices. Because I spoke out against these abuses, Perkins and Timothy Dunham suspended my security clearance, costing me my job and continuing employment, totaling approximately $700,000 in lost wages and retirement benefits.”

A fifth FBI whistleblower said, “Although some FBI leaders who abused the clearance process like Dena Perkins and Jeff Veltri have already left, they weren’t alone. Timothy Dunham approved Perkins’s wrongdoing and engaged in his own. While most Security Division employees are fantastic, some FBI leaders still remain within the Security Integrity and Investigations Section who’ll continue this abuse of the process.”

From FBI whistleblower Marcus Allen, “Jeff Veltri and Dena Perkins caused the suspension of my security clearance because I questioned whether the FBI Director was truthful to Congress and whether the FBI was obeying the law and Constitution in the January 6, 2021 investigations. Their actions left me without pay for over two years while other FBI officials prevented me from having other income. Although the FBI ultimately reinstated my clearance and settled my lawsuit, my career at the FBI was over and the financial and emotional damage to me and my family will never be completely restored.”

Former Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Chris Krebs

This afternoon, President Donald Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum that instructs the Department of Justice and “other aspects of [his] government” to investigate Chris Krebs and his acts as the former Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). At the signing, President Trump’s White House staff secretary Will Scharf stated:

“This is a man who weaponized his position against free speech in the election context and the context of COVID-19. This is a similar Presidential Memorandum to the one you just signed. It addresses his access to government existent clearances he might have and further instructs your Department of Justice, other aspects of your government, to investigate some of the malign acts he participated in while he was still head of CISA.”

Before signing the memorandum, President Trump rehashed the consequences of the stolen 2020 election, including the deaths from the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, the Russia-Ukraine war, and October 7th.

President Trump called it “a very corrupt election” and said “they used COVID to cheat.” He called Krebs a “wise-guy” and referenced his absurd statement almost immediately following the 2020 Election, calling it the “most secure in U.S. history.”

As an added bonus, it appears Michigan’s governor, Gretchen Whitmer, was present in the Oval Office for the signing of this declaration. Very interesting!

On November 12, 2020, Chris Krebs said that “government and industry representatives from the election security community issued a joint statement reflecting a consensus perspective that the 2020 election was the most secure in U.S. history.”

Secret CISA Vulnerabilities Report Prior to the 2020 Election

It was an absolutely absurd assertion coming just nine days after the election, and only five days after Joe Biden was proclaimed the winner by the Mockingbird Media. In February 2024, Yehuda Miller uncovered a 2020 CISA report titled “Election Infrastructure Subsector Cyber Risk Summary,” that was published in March 2021.

The Executive Summary reads:“This report provides analysis, findings, and recommendations derived from non-attributable cybersecurity trends observed between November 3, 2019, and November 3, 2020 – Election Year 2020 (EY20).”

CISA’s analysis of the available data assessed EI (election infrastructure) entities found:

76% of EI entities for which CISA performed a Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (RVA) had spearphishing weaknesses, which provide an entry point for adversaries to launch attacks;

48% of entities had a critical or high severity vulnerability on at least one internet-accessible host, providing potential attack vectors to adversaries;

39% of entities ran at least one risky service on an internet-accessible host, providing the opportunity for threat actors to attack otherwise legitimate services; and

34% of entities ran unsupported operating systems (OSs) on at least one internet-accessible host, which exposes entities to compromise.

Whether or not the findings of this report were known to Krebs when he made that reckless statement less than a week after a “winner” had been declared is not known, however, the fact that a year-long investigation into the vulnerabilities and the imminent report should have absolutely been known prior to that statement being made.

The report was set as TLP:Amber, which means Traffic Light Protocal. “Amber” means that “information that’s for limited disclosure and may be shared on a need-to-know basis, either only to those within an organization or its clients.”

Mass Censorship

The Gateway Pundit reported extensively on the Department of Homeland Security and CISA's involvement, under Director Krebs, in the censorship operation that took place in 2020, regarding COVID-19 and the 2020 Election. The two government entities worked with the Election Integrity Partnership (EIP), a collaboration of Digital Forensics Research Lab, Graphika, Stanford Internet Observatory, and the University of Washington Center for an Informed Public.

In the EIP's Long Fuse Report, they laid out a massive censorship operation and their efforts to corroborate between government officials and social media companies to remove what they deemed "misinformation" and "disinformation."

SolarWinds Hack

In December 2020, following the 2020 Presidential Election, CISA announced a massive sophisticated supply chain hack against SolarWinds, an IT management, network monitoring, and system performance optimization firm used by the federal government.

The attack infiltrated SolarWinds' Orion software platform and distributed malicious updates to over 18,000 organizations worldwide. At the time, Dominion Voting Systems was using SolarWinds' software on their system, according to a report from The Gateway Pundit in December 2020.

Chris Krebs would coincidentally go on to form the Krebs Stamos Group with Alex Stamos, the former Chief Security Officer for Facebook and the Director of the Stanford Internet Observatory. The same Stanford Internet Observatory that spearheaded the EIP and the 2020 censorship efforts.

As if that wasn't enough of a "Small World" connection, their first client, according to TechCrunch, was none other than SolarWinds.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency was established and signed into law in 2018. Chris Krebs, an environmental sciences major and Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia and George Mason University, respectively, was designated the first acting Director.

FBI Director Kash Patel has been quietly removed as acting director of the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and replaced by US Army secretary Daniel Driscoll, in a leadership shuffle that was not publicly disclosed by the justice department, news agency Reuters reported.

Patel, who was controversially holding two top posts in the Justice Department, both FBI director and acting ATF chief, was sworn in to lead the ATF on February 24, just three days after assuming leadership at the FBI.

However, his time at ATF appears to have ended in late February, though his name and photo remained on the agency’s website as of Wednesday afternoon and were still featured in an official ATF press release dated April 7, according to Reuters.

A justice department official confirmed Patel’s removal but insisted it was not related to job performance. “Director Patel was briefly designated ATF Director while awaiting Senate confirmations, a standard, short-term move,” White House spokesman Harrison Fields was quoted as saying by Reuters.

“Director Patel is now excelling in his role at the FBI and delivering outstanding results”, Fields added.

The decision to install Army secretary Daniel Driscoll as acting ATF director caught many off guard. Driscoll, who remains in his current military post, now oversees the ATF while also managing a $187 billion Army budget and more than 450,000 soldiers around the world.

As per news agency AP, the dual role is unusual, given the longstanding US policy to maintain a strict divide between military operations and domestic law enforcement.

Driscoll, 38, previously served as an adviser to Vice President JD Vance and ran unsuccessfully in a North Carolina congressional primary in 2020. His appointment came without public announcement, and even senior ATF leaders were informed only this week, according to AP.

Patel’s sudden appointment in February as ATF chief shocked career employees. When he arrived at ATF headquarters, he urged staff to focus on targeting violent gang members but has rarely been seen since, current and former officials were cited as saying by Reuters.

The abrupt leadership changes have fueled concerns about instability within the agency, which plays a key role in investigating gun crimes, arson, bombings and regulating the firearms industry.

“To see them in the situation they’re in now is just really heartbreaking,” said Peter Forcelli, a former ATF assistant director was quoted by Reuters. “The fact they’re getting kicked around like a soccer ball is to me just incredibly disrespectful”, Forcelli added.

The leadership reshuffle comes amid broader discussions inside the justice department about potentially merging the ATF with the Drug Enforcement Administration to cut costs and consolidate enforcement resources, a move that could reshape federal firearms and narcotics investigations nationwide.

Meanwhile, attorney general Pam Bondi has launched a new task force focused on enforcing the Second Amendment, which will include the ATF and Civil Rights Division.

Bondi and US President Donald Trump have moved to roll back gun regulations implemented during the Biden administration. Earlier this week, the ATF repealed its “zero tolerance” policy on revoking licenses of gun dealers who commit serious violations, a shift that had been previously championed by Patel in a press release.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the leading gun industry trade group, praised Driscoll’s appointment on Wednesday, saying it “signals a resolve to bring reform to ATF and protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens”.

MEMORANDUM FOR THE HEADS OF EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES

The Federal Government has a constitutional duty and a moral responsibility to respect and promote the free speech rights of Americans. Yet in recent years, elitist leaders in Government have unlawfully censored speech and weaponized their undeserved influence to silence perceived political opponents and advance their preferred, and often erroneous, narrative about significant matters of public debate. These disgraceful actions have taken the form of coercive threats against the private sector — including major social media platforms — to suppress conservative or dissenting voices and distort public opinion. Much of this censorship took place during a Presidential election with the apparent purpose of undermining the free exchange of ideas and debate.

Christopher Krebs, the former head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), is a significant bad-faith actor who weaponized and abused his Government authority. Krebs’ misconduct involved the censorship of disfavored speech implicating the 2020 election and COVID-19 pandemic. CISA, under Krebs’ leadership, suppressed conservative viewpoints under the guise of combatting supposed disinformation, and recruited and coerced major social media platforms to further its partisan mission. CISA covertly worked to blind the American public to the controversy surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop. Krebs, through CISA, promoted the censorship of election information, including known risks associated with certain voting practices. Similarly, Krebs, through CISA, falsely and baselessly denied that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen, including by inappropriately and categorically dismissing widespread election malfeasance and serious vulnerabilities with voting machines. Krebs skewed the bona fide debate about COVID-19 by attempting to discredit widely shared views that ran contrary to CISA’s favored perspective.

Abusive conduct of this sort both violates the First Amendment and erodes trust in Government, thus undermining the strength of our democracy itself. Those who engage in or support such conduct must not have continued access to our Nation’s secrets. Accordingly, I hereby direct the heads of executive department and agencies (agencies) to immediately take steps consistent with existing law to revoke any active security clearance held by Christopher Krebs.

I further direct the Attorney General, the Director of National Intelligence, and all other relevant agencies to immediately take all action as necessary and consistent with existing law to suspend any active security clearances held by individuals at entities associated with Krebs, including SentinelOne, pending a review of whether such clearances are consistent with the national interest.

I further direct the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with any other agency head, to take all appropriate action to review Krebs’ activities as a Government employee, including his leadership of CISA. This review should identify any instances where Krebs’ conduct appears to have been contrary to suitability standards for Federal employees, involved the unauthorized dissemination of classified information, or contrary to the purposes and policies identified in Executive Order 14149 of January 20, 2025 (Restoring Freedom of Speech and Ending Federal Censorship). As part of that review, I direct a comprehensive evaluation of all of CISA’s activities over the last 6 years, focusing specifically on any instances where CISA’s conduct appears to have been contrary to the purposes and policies identified in Executive Order 14149. Upon completing these reviews, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall prepare a joint report to be submitted to the President, through the Counsel to the President, with recommendations for appropriate remedial or preventative actions to be taken to fulfill the purposes and policies of Executive Order 14149.

Stefanik returns to House GOP leadership and committees after UN nomination withdrawal

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) is getting a seat back at the House GOP leadership table and her spots back on House committees as she returns to the lower chamber after President Trump withdrew her nomination to be U.N. ambassador over concerns about the slim GOP majority.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is appointing Stefanik to be chairwoman of House Republican Leadership, according to a release from her office — a Speaker-appointed position that is outlined in the conference’s rules, but is often vacant.

A release from her office described it as “a senior leadership appointed position focused on strategy, communications, and executing on the mandate from the American people to pass President Trump’s agenda.”

“I am honored to be appointed Chairwoman of House Republican Leadership to lead House Republicans in implementing President Donald Trump’s mandate from the American people for an America First agenda that includes securing our borders, strengthening our national security, growing our economy, and combating the scourge of antisemitism across our country,” Stefanik said in a statement.

The move ends two weeks of uncertainty about how Stefanik would return to House GOP leadership, as Trump had said she would in his Truth Social post announcing that her nomination would be withdrawn. The New York congresswoman had relinquished her No. 4 leadership slot as House Republican Conference Chair since she had been named Trump’s UN pick, and Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) was elected in her place.

Stefanik will also return to be a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee, as well as have her seats on the Armed Services Committee and Education and Workforce Committee, she said in a statement.

The chair of the Elected Leadership Committee position was last filled by former Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.), after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) revived the position for his close ally. But Johnson dismissed Graves from the position after he became Speaker. Her office said it has also been used “at critical moments to deliver for the American people.”

This time, Stefanik is set to have a “budget, staff, and expansive strategy, legislative, and communications portfolio,” according to the release.

In explaining the nomination withdrawal, both Trump and Stefanik had cited concerns about the House’s razor-thin majority, which gives leaders almost no room for error as they aim to advance Trump’s ambitious legislative agenda on tax cuts, energy and border policy on party lines. Just a handful of defections can sink a key vote.

Stefanik demonstrated how valuable her vote could be in the first vote she took upon returning to the House since the announcement of her nomination withdrawal.

A procedural vote to tee up the budget resolution framework for Trump’s agenda passed 216-215, with three Republican defections and one Republican not voting. Had Stefanik not been there to vote, and the one other Republican still not voted, it would have failed.

Having Stefanik in the House will slightly increase GOP leadership’s breathing room: Instead of being able to spare two GOP defections, with Stefanik, they can spare three.

House GOP cancels budget vote as hard-liners agitate for more spending cuts in Trump’s ‘beautiful’ bill

Speaker Mike Johnson has suggested forging ahead, even through a scheduled recess, as Republican leaders consider tweaks.

House Republican leaders canceled a vote on the Senate’s budget resolution Wednesday night, as Speaker Mike Johnson came to terms with what had been clear for many hours: Too many Republicans would vote in opposition and the measure was bound to fail.

House GOP leaders continued to meet with holdouts late Wednesday and are considering tweaks to get fiscal hawks on board with the budget framework essential to passing President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda. But the outcome is a brutal blow for House GOP leaders and the president, who have spent days trying to wrangle the votes for the fiscal blueprint.

The canceled vote followed hours of suspense, as more than a dozen holdouts met off the floor with Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise while a vote on a completely separate measure was held open for well over an hour. The evening votes had already been delayed as the House hard-liners were busy back-channeling with Senate Republicans to sketch out deeper spending cuts.

“I just got off the phone with President Trump. And he wants us to get it done. But we’re going to rework things,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) told reporters as she left the meeting with House leaders that prompted the decision to call off the vote.

Johnson told reporters there was a “small subset” of Republican lawmakers opposed to the measure, which Republicans need to adopt in order to unlock the filibuster-skirting power to enact a package of tax cuts, military spending, energy policy, border security investments and more along party lines this year. But even a handful of opponents can sink a partisan bill given the House GOP’s exceedingly narrow majority.

“I’m very optimistic about the outcome of this ‘one big, beautiful bill,’ and this is just one of the steps in getting there,” the speaker said.

Johnson said House leadership will explore either amending the Senate-adopted budget or going straight to conference with the other chamber and working out differences there. One option is adopting an amendment from Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-Pa.) that would ensure Republicans have to enact corresponding spending cuts to offset any tax cuts in a final package. Another option is forcing a level of certain spending cuts in the package.

Lawmakers are slated to head back to their districts Thursday for a two-week recess, meaning that the president may have to wait to see any forward motion on his “big beautiful bill.” But Johnson told reporters Wednesday night that “if we have to come back next week, then we’ll do that.”

Some Republicans are holding out hope there could be a breakthrough before lawmakers leave for their time at home, though. Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgia, one of the GOP lawmakers opposed to the Senate’s budget framework, told reporters Wednesday night, “I think we’ll have a more conservative alternative tomorrow.”

Adoption of identical budget resolutions in both the House and Senate is an essential step to allowing committees to start drafting and passing the party-line package. And if the House amends the Senate’s revamped budget framework, senators would have to endure a third all-night amendment voting session just to approve the budget, before holding another voting spree to pass the final bill.

Across the Capitol, Senate Majority Leader John Thune wasn’t enthused about that idea. “No we can’t do that — another vote-a-rama that drags it on indefinitely. I think everybody realizes that we’re at the time that we’ve got to move,” he said.

The Senate majority leader also met with a group of House fiscal hawks earlier in the evening about their concerns in an attempt to break the impasse and have them approve the Senate’s product, afterward describing the confab as “a really good back and forth” and “constructive.”

“All we can do is make sure they understand where we’re coming from and how closely we want to work with them to get to the final product,” Thune told reporters Wednesday night.

Thune said he didn’t make any commitment to enacting $2 trillion in cuts to safety-net programs in the final bill, however, which some House fiscal hawks are insisting on: “I didn’t say anything quite like that.”

Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), who was also in the meeting with the fiscal hawks, sought to project unity: “Republicans in the Senate, Republicans in the House, are all on the same page — we are all committed to serious and significant savings.”

But many House Republicans are not at all pleased with alterations made in the Senate, where GOP leaders are calling for a total of at least $4 billion in savings in a final package, while the House set a mandate of $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion in spending cuts to balance out tax cuts.

“We just don’t trust the Senate,” Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.), chair of the House Republican Policy Committee, said in a brief interview this week. “It just seems very unserious that they want to control the deficits in this country.”

The two nations’ space agencies have not yet decided on any concrete date but are working “as a team,” Ken Bowersox has told TASS

The Russian and American space agencies are developing a plan for de-orbiting the International Space Station (ISS), NASA’s associate administrator for Space Operations Mission Directorate, Ken Bowersox, has told TASS.

Launched back in 1998, the project has seen Russia, the US, Canada, Japan, as well as multiple European nations join forces to keep the station operational.

Speaking to TASS on Wednesday, Bowersox said that “we work together to come up with a detailed plan for how we will actually end station.”

“There is always a chance that we could go longer. There is always a chance we could go shorter if something bad were to happen on station,” he added, noting that NASA specialists are cooperating with their colleagues from Russia and other partner nations “as a team.”

According to Bowersox, the topic of ISS operations is discussed by Moscow and Washington on a regular basis.

On Monday, NASA’s associate administrator for Space Operations Mission Directorate met with Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov at the Russian-operated Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

According to a Roscosmos press release, the two officials reviewed several initiatives, including preparations for future launches from thenew Baiterek Rocket Complex – a joint Russian-Kazakh project designed to support the launch of the new Soyuz-5 rocket.

The discussions came ahead of the50th anniversary of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project – the first manned spaceflight jointly carried out by the US and Soviet Union in 1975.

Despite the Ukraine conflict and the drastic decline in bilateral relations,space cooperation between the US and Russia has been among the few realms that have remained largely unaffected. NASA and Roscosmos recently extended their cross-flight agreement to the ISS through 2026, and have collaborated continuously on station-related missions over the past three years.

The US president has warned China and other trade partners against escalation beyond the trade war

President Donald Trump has boasted about US military power and weapons that “nobody has any idea” about, in response to concerns that his tariff war with China could spiral out of control.

Trump raised tariffs on Chinese goods to 125% on Wednesday, in retaliation for mirror measures imposed by Beijing. China has yet to respond to the latest hike, although its Ministry of Commerce has previously vowed to fight the trade war “to the end.”

Asked whether he was “concerned” about Beijing’s possible next move – and potential “escalation beyond the trade war” – theUS leader argued that Chinese President Xi Jinping is “one of the very smart people of the world”who would never “allow that to happen.”

“We’re very powerful. This country is very powerful. It’s far more powerful than people understand. We have weaponry that nobody has any idea what it is, and it is the most powerful weapons in the world that we have. More powerful than anybody even, not even close,”Trump told journalists in the Oval Office.

“So nobody’s going to do that,” Trump added, reiterating that Xi is a “very smart man” who “knows exactly what has to be done.”

The US president, who has previously teased secret weapons using unusual scientific terminology, did not elaborate on the kind of weapons he was referring to this time.

Back in 2020, Trump touted what he called a “super duper missile” that could fly “17 times faster” than anything America’s adversaries had in their arsenals. He also claimed that Russia’s hypersonic technological breakthroughs resulted from stealing US missile plans during the presidency of Barack Obama – despite the fact that the US has yet to field an operational hypersonic weapon.

Moscow and Beijing have pulled ahead in the race to develop hypersonic weapons over the past decade. Russia put its first system of the kind, the air-launched Kinzhal missile, into service in 2017, while China rolled out its DF-ZF hypersonic glide vehicle two years later.

Russia has used both Kinzhal and the naval Zircon hypersonic missiles during the Ukraine conflict. Last November, Moscow also carried out the first combat test of its Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile fitted with multiple independently targetable warheads capable of hypersonic speeds.

In December, after multiple delays and failed tests, Washington announced a successful test launch of its Long Range Hypersonic Weapon, being developed by Lockheed Martin since 2017. The US hopes to equip the first unit with a ground-launched variant of the missile by the end of fiscal 2025.

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 on Wednesday to stay a ruling issued in mid-March ordering Trump to temporarily reinstate the roughly 25,000 probationary employees who were fired from 18 federal agencies as part of the president's plan to dramatically reduce government costs and shrink the size of the government.

Jury awards $1.68 billion to women who accused director Toback of sexual abuse

A New York jury on Wednesday awarded $1.68 billion in damages to 40 women who accused writer and director James Toback of sexual abuse and other crimes over a span of 35 years, according to lawyers representing the plaintiffs.

The decision stems from a lawsuit filed in Manhattan in 2022 after New York state instituted a one-year window for people to file lawsuits over sexual assault claims even if they took place decades ago.

It marks one of the largest jury awards since the advent of the #MeToo movement, as well as in New York state history, said attorney Brad Beckworth, of the law firm Nix Patterson LLP, in an interview. The plaintiffs, he said, believe such a large verdict will send a message to powerful individuals "who don't treat women appropriately."

The court had not yet released documentation of the verdict as of Wednesday night. Beckworth said the verdict included $280 million in compensatory damages and $1.4 billion for punitive damages to the plaintiffs.

"This verdict is about justice," Beckworth said in a statement. "But more importantly, It's about taking power back from the abusers — and their and enablers — and returning it to those he tried to control and silence."

Beckworth said the abuse took place between 1979 and 2014.

Toback was nominated for an Oscar for writing 1991′s "Bugsy," and his career in Hollywood has spanned more than 40 years. Accusations that he engaged in years of sexual abuse surfaced in late 2017 as the #MeToo movement gained attention. They were first reported by the Los Angeles Times.

In 2018, Los Angeles prosecutors said the statutes of limitations had expired in five cases they reviewed, and declined to bring criminal charges against Toback.

The plaintiffs then filed a lawsuit in New York a few days after the state's Adult Survivors Act went into effect. The lawyers said they discovered a pattern of Toback attempting to lure young women on the streets of New York into meeting him by falsely promising roles in his films and then subjecting them to sexual acts, threats and psychological coercion.

Bob Avakian is the architect of a whole new framework of human emancipation, the new synthesis of communism, which is popularly referred to as the "new communism."

BA is a leader who is firmly convinced, on the basis of a consistently scientific method and approach, that the goal must be nothing less than all-out revolution, and who at the same time has emphasized:

the new communism thoroughly repudiates and is determined to root out of the communist movement the poisonous notion, and practice, that “the ends justifies the means.” It is a bedrock principle of the new communism that the “means” of this movement must flow from and be consistent with the fundamental “ends” of abolishing all exploitation and oppression through revolution led on a scientific basis.
