Miranda Devine: Trump is fighting a cartel of vile, corrupt and far-left judges trying to kill his campaign promises

If you ever doubted that Washington’s corrupt cartel of Democratic law firms, judges, NGOs, and deep-state bureaucrats is a machine designed to thwart the Trump administration, just watch as judge after judge blocks the president’s ability to keep his campaign promises.

It may not be brown paper bags changing hands, but this lawfare that defies the people’s will is every bit as corrupt.

It will be up to the Supreme Court to define the limits of presidential authority, but Chief Justice John Roberts’ preemptive scolding of Trump for musing about judicial impeachment doesn’t bode well for the president.

Trump won a resounding mandate in the November election, winning every swing state, the popular vote and both houses of Congress.

Democrats are rudderless, fighting each other and incapable of mounting an effective opposition.

So they are depending on the federal courts to be the “last bulwark against Trump,” as the New York Times puts it, celebrating the fact that almost 600 federal judges in courtrooms from Rhode Island to Seattle can issue emergency rulings to “stop the White House in its tracks.”

Politico has dubbed it the “court case presidency,” noting approvingly that “the courts have provided the only real opposition to Trump 2.0 so far.”

And so they have.

According to Attorney General Pam Bondi, judges issued more than 14 injunctions against Trump administration actions in February alone, with 160 “resistance” lawsuits winding their way through the system.

For example, we had Judge James Boasberg, an appointee of President Barack Obama, blocking the deportation of illegal alien criminals deemed a national security threat.

Judge Theodore Chuang, another Obama appointee, blocked DOGE’s dismantling of USAID, which turned out to be a slush fund for shady Democratic projects rather than a foreign aid agency, and ordered a stop to the freeze on $2 billion being sent out of the country.

Judge Ana Reyes --- an appointee of President Joe Biden — blocked Trump’s executive order banning transgender individuals from military service.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt weighed in at her press conference Wednesday, pointing out that “67% of all of the injunctions in this century have come against … President Donald Trump … and 92% of those have been from Democrat-appointed judges. This is a clear concerted effort by leftists who don’t like this president and who are trying to oppose or slow down his agenda.”

The judge who has most angered Trump is Boasberg, chief judge of the notoriously left-leaning Washington, DC, District Court, who convened an emergency hearing Saturday to block the deportation of 251 dangerous illegal alien criminals, going so far as ordering that the planes be turned around in midair.

Midair disaster attempt

Trump had invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 Saturday to deport two planeloads of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, who he declared are “perpetrating, attempting, and threatening an invasion or predatory incursion … and conducting irregular warfare against the territory of the United States … at the direction, clandestine or otherwise, of the Maduro regime in Venezuela.”

The planes landed in El Salvador, which is being paid $6 million to detain the deportees for a year, as part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on Biden’s disastrous illegal migration project.

“One unelected federal judge [is] trying to control foreign policy,” Bondi railed Wednesday.

“There are 251 reasons why Americans are safer now because those people are out of this country.”

But Boasberg has stepped up his pressure, demanding DOJ lawyers provide minute details of the flights --- potentially to hold members of the administration in contempt and serve as the basis for a future impeachment of Trump.

Trump lambasted Boasberg on Tuesday as a “radical left lunatic, a troublemaker and agitator,” and called for his impeachment.

Some Republican members of the House are moving to impeach the judge for what they say was a “lawless” order that endangered national security.

“The judge in this case put the lives of every single person on those aircraft at risk,” White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller told CNN.

“Did he know how much fuel was in those planes? Did he know the flight conditions? Did he know the weather conditions? Did he know how many crew hours? Did he know the need for crew rest? Did he know any of that? No. This judge violated the law. He violated the Constitution …

“These same district court judges didn’t do a damn thing to stop Joe Biden from flooding this nation with millions of illegal aliens. [They] didn’t issue any injunctions to save the lives of Jocelyn Nungaray or Laken Riley … How are you going to expel illegal alien invaders from our country who are raping [and] murdering little girls if each and every deportation has to be adjudicated by a district court judge?”

Back with a vengeance

The same lawfare that haunted Trump’s first term and dogged his four years in the wilderness is back with a vengeance.

After the Russia hoax and two impeachments, Trump’s enemies used the courts to try to bankrupt him, throw him in prison and take him off the ballot. When all else failed, they tried to assassinate him.

But the lawfare only made him stronger as the American people woke up to the ruse.

Now his mugshot has pride of place in a framed New York Post cover in a corridor off the Oval Office.

Haven’t Democrats learned their lesson?

“They can’t help themselves,” says attorney and legal commentator Mike Davis, who founded the Article III Project to push back on lawfare against conservatives.

“Dems are like fat kids at the all-you-can-eat buffet.”

Davis wants Boasberg impeached and says even if the attempt isn’t successful, the process would be worth it to act as a deterrent to other activist judges.

In her press conference Wednesday, Leavitt read off a list of dangerous criminal aliens captured in recent days by ICE agents around the country, who should be next on Trump’s deportation list, if only activist judges get out of the way.

In San Francisco, ICE arrested a citizen of Guatemala convicted of sexual battery. In New Orleans, it nabbed an Ecuadoran citizen convicted of rape on Long Island.

In Dallas, another Mexican with convictions for assault with a firearm and “rape with a foreign object” was picked up.

Houston ICE arrested a Guatemalan convicted of indecent sexual contact with a child.

“These are heinous criminal alien monsters who the previous administration allowed to flood into this country,” said Leavitt.

Yes, and these are the monsters whom the Democratic lawfare machine is working overtime to keep in the country, in opposition to a president who is doing what he was elected to do.

The Supreme Court needs to rein in the lawfare, or we won’t have a country.

Dear Supreme Court Justices:

Imagine if the political branches “temporarily” took away your judicial power.

Even for a second---let alone weeks or months.

You’d rightly rule that’s unlawful.

So why are you letting activist judges do this to the President’s executive power?

Published: March 23, 2025 11:17pm

Months before he blocked President Donald Trump’s deportations of illegal alien gang members, U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg attended a privately-funded legal conference in Idaho that featured sponsors and speakers who have expressed clear anti-Trump sentiments particularly on immigration and a theme that echoed the Democrat Party’s 2024 stated mission of saving democracy, according to a judicial ethics report.

Boasberg was one of nine Democrat-appointed judges and three Trump nominated jurists to attend the conference in ritzy Sun Valley, where two of the four sessions were entitled “Role of Judges in a Democracy” and the “State of Democracy," the report shows.

Called a "Privately Funded Seminar Disclosure Report," the document discloses that Boasberg was in attendance, but offers no details of whether Boasberg was paid for his attendance or travel, or what the remuneration was.

Overseen by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, the ethical rules governing federal judges require that a private entity who "issues an invitation to a federal judge to attend an educational program as a speaker, panelist, or attendee and offers to pay for or reimburse that judge, in excess of $480, must disclose financial and programmatic information." The rules do not require a specific accounting for each judge, or even how much was paid to judges at all.

Just the News was alerted to the conference and to Boasberg’s attendance by a retired Democrat-appointed judge, who was concerned the July 2024 conference’s focus on judges’ role in a democracy was too close to a political party’s theme for comfort.

It is possible that his "payment" was merely reimbursement for expenses, but Boasberg did not respond to a request for comment from Just the News.

Funding given to groups opposed to Trump's immigration policies

The conference was part of the Rodel Institute’s Judicial Fellowship and each of the judges in attendance including Boasberg was a first-year fellow, according to the institute's website. Rodel, in turn, is funded by the same foundations who often sponsor anti-Trump programs and publications, including:

The Henry Luce Foundation, which funds groups such as the Migration Policy Institute, which recently claimed the Trump administration “bends U.S. government in extraordinary ways towards aim of mass deportations." The Luce Foundation has been also been a funder of the "Documented" immigration group, which describes itself as "a newsroom dedicated to reporting with and for immigrant communities in New York City." That group recently lamented "the plight of the Venezuelan diaspora --- criminalized both in their home country and the United States" because of Trump;

The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, which has over the years donated considerable cash to the The Brennan Center for Justice, which in turn opposes Trump's policies in litigation and by organizing events attacking those policies; and

The Hewlett Foundation (which was a longtime supporter of the group when it was still part of the Aspen Institute too) which also proclaimed its less-than-flattering view of Trump as follows: “In a recent nadir, the attack on the counting of electoral votes in the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in the aftermath of which 147 G.O.P. legislators still voted in support of President Trump’s baseless efforts to overturn the election results, has further rendered the fabric of congressional civility and tolerance. Even that nadir, as severe as it was, may have been superseded by the subsequent inability of Congress even to agree to investigate the Capitol riot.”

Openly hostile associations

Some of Rodel's leadership team, institutional partners, funding sources, and its faculty partners are left-leaning or anti-Trump, and its annual book award is named for former Congressman Mickey Edwards, a former Republican congressman who is a harsh Trump critic and endorsed Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024.

Rodel’s chief executive officer John Kroger has sounded clear criticism of Trump in recent weeks on his Linked-In page, claiming Trump's administration has “intentionally” taken “a very large number of actions that violate statutes or clear constitutional precedent” that in prior times would warrant “bipartisan impeachment.”

Kroger said last year that Trump was “disqualified” from being president in his view, writing that “calling the convicted felons who attacked the Capitol on January 6 ‘patriots’ and ‘hostages,’ giving them a salute, and promising them pardons disqualifies you from being president.

"Truly awful," he added. "Real patriots oppose political violence and support the rule of law, plain and simple. Please support decency, values and common sense this election cycle, not extremism.”

Rodel describes itself as a nonpartisan nonprofit committed to fostering excellence in leadership and its director of the judicial fellowship program, Jeff King, is a former Republican state legislator from Kansas. King did not respond to a request for comment from Just the News.

"Keeping migrant children in cages"

King was one of the featured speakers at the Sun Valley conference, giving a presentation on the "State of Democracy," according to the ethics report.

Another speaker, respected Catholic University law professor Cara Drinan who led the discussion on the role of judges in a democracy (as well as a presentation on jurisprudence), has been overtly critical of Trump in legal writings and media interviews.

For instance, the Catholic University law school's website highlights an interview Drinan gave to Bloomberg News in 2018 in which she criticized Trump's first-term pardons for a "lack of apparent methodology" and alleged the president "appears to not pay close attention to the Department of Justice guidelines."

That same year, Drinan wrote a guest OpEd for the left-leaning Huffington Post decrying the Trump administration for "keeping migrant children in cages, claiming that a policy of family separation deters future illegal immigration.

"The images of what this policy entails are horrific: terrified, confused children watching as agents search their mothers; parents pleading with agents to show mercy; children sleeping on mats inside wire cages covered with Mylar blankets," she wrote. "The sounds of this inhumanity are even harder to stomach: children calling for their mother and father, sobbing to the point of breathlessness."

She also accused Trump of hypocrisy for claiming he couldn't change the situation and then signing an order to end it that she said was a "step in the right direction."

"Last week, the nation witnessed an abrupt reversal from the White House," Drinan wrote. "After claiming for days that he did not have the authority to address the family separation crisis at the border, President Donald Trump appeared to do just that with the stroke of a pen."

She also joined scores of other law professors who signed a letter arguing against the confirmation of Trump's second pick to the U.S Supreme Court, Justice Brett Cavanaugh. In 2020, Drinan also advocated for clemency and the release of prisoners from sentences during the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2018 she praised Pope Francis' statements condemning the death penalty.

The Rodel Institute's Kroger wrote on LinkedIn about the conference attended by Boasberg last year.

"The Rodel Judicial Fellowship, now in its third year, and led by our own Jeff King, is one of our most important programs. We do this work because, as Jeff says, ‘A strong and independent judiciary forms the bedrock of American democracy.’ If you have questions about our work with judges, please let me know.” Kroger did not respond to a request for comment from Just the News.

Of the 12 judges who attended the conference, nine were nominated by Barack Obama or Joe Biden, while three were Trump appointees. They included Valerie Caproni, a former counsel under FBI Director Robert Mueller who was appointed to the bench by Obama, Biden appeals court appointee Anthony Devos Johnstone and Trump appointee Amul Thapar, according to the disclosure filed by Rodel and shared online by the D.C. District Court.

The full attendance list below is in the order they appeared on Boasberg's disclosure form:

Judge Amal Thapar (a Trump nominee), Judge Anthony Devos (a Biden nominee), Judge James Boasberg (an Obama nominee), Judge Benita Pearson (an Obama nominee), Judge Elizabeth Branch (a Trump nominee), Judge Holly Thomas (a Biden nominee), Judge Joel Carson (a Trump nominee), Judge John Chun (a Biden nominee), Judge Madeline Arleo (an Obama nominee), Judge Robert Shelby (an Obama nominee), Judge Staci Yandle (an Obama nominee), and Judge Valerie Caproni (an Obama nominee).

After messages were sent to two of its leaders, the Rodel Institute sent Just the News a two-page largely informational statement on what the organization says it does.

“The Rodel Judicial Fellowship began in 2022 as an effort to counter the appearance of a more fractured, more political, and less collegial judiciary and as a way for judges to grow by sharing their beliefs and experiences with each other,” the Rodel Institute said, adding, “We work towards these goals through a curriculum that includes seminal readings from Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Justice Stephen Breyer, Justice Antonin Scalia, Professor Akil Amar, Judge Frank Easterbrook, Judge Richard Posner, and many others. Fellows read and discuss these foundational texts, exploring similarities and differences between participants’ judicial philosophies.”

Origins of the Institute

Before being spun off to create the Rodel Institute, the Rodel Fellowship was originally created in 2005 as a program at the Aspen Institute by former Republican Rep. Mickey Edwards and wealthy philanthropist Bill Budinger.

The fellowship trained hundreds of elected leaders from both the Republican and Democratic Party over the years, including former Vice President Kamala Harris (when she was still a county district attorney) and now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio (when he was still in the Florida House).

The Rodel Institute only became its own entity in the past few years. John Kroger has been the CEO of the Rodel Institute since August 2021, after being vice president of the Aspen Institute and working on the Rodel Fellowship there from August 2020 to August 2021.

While the head of the Rodel Institute, Kroger attended an event at the Biden White House, criticized Republican efforts to impeach Biden Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, criticized the “creation of a significant anti-democratic intellectual infrastructure” among conservatives, complimented Jack Smith as “a very serious person and a very rigorous, careful, painstaking prosecutor” when he indicted Trump, denied that China is a strategic threat to the U.S., and called Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’s efforts opposing the teaching of critical race theory “unconstitutional and undemocratic.”

"Too many white men in positions of power"

Kroger previously worked as an aide to then-Rep. Chuck Schumer, the New York Democrat, and then was an advisor to Bill Clinton, saying that “I got to learn about American politics at the side of a master.”

The CEO briefly worked as the Navy’s chief learning officer during the first Trump administration, but was highly critical of the Navy under Trump soon after he left, including his view that there were too many white men in positions of power. He wrote that “we need a revolutionary commitment to diversity and inclusion, starting at the top, that changes the way we recruit, assign, promote, and mentor officers and civilian executives of color.”

Kroger previously wrote on LinkedIn that the Rodel Fellows include a large number of elected officials, including “one Vice President of the United States!” --- Kamala Harris. He has called his work at the Rodel Institute “a labor of love.”

The other key staff members at the Rodel Institute have largely been plucked from left-leaning backgrounds.

Lizzy McCourt Noonan, the executive director of the Rodel Fellowship, was previously the senior research associate at the Global Strategy Group, whose website states that “we have led campaigns for leading changemakers fighting for social justice and racial equality, the environment, ending gun violence, expanding women’s rights, and many other important issues." The group's partners include the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, EMILY's List, End Citizens United, and other leftwing causes.

Katie Moran is the deputy director of the Rodel Federal Executive Fellowship at the Rodel Institute, where she supports Kroger’s efforts. She was previously the director of the Make Room initiative at the Center for a New American Security, where her biography says that her “work focused on” issues such as “democracy” and “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Susan Hwang, the director of advancement at the Rodel Institute, previously held a senior fundraising position at Facing History and Ourselves, an education advocacy group, and her LinkedIn page states that until early 2024 she was the philanthropy manager at ClientEarth, a environmental group critical of Trump.

Institutional partners compare supporting Trump to Nazism, white supremacy

The Rodel Institute lists two “institutional partners” with which it works closely --- the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, led by Ian Solomon, and the Kansas Leadership Center, led by Kaye Monk-Morgan. Both are Trump critics. Solomon is also on the Rodel Institute’s board of directors and is a faculty moderator for them, as well as being part of the institute’s book award committee. Monk-Morgan is also a Rodel Institute faculty moderator.

Solomon, the dean of the Virginia school and part of the university’s Racial Equity Task Force, worked as a legislative counsel to then-Sen. Barack Obama and worked as the executive director for the World Bank Group during the Obama administration. At the Virginia school, he hosted a conversation with leftist Ibram X. Kendi in 2021 as part of the “Racial Equity Speaker Series.” The school said Kendi provided a “strong platform for any institution’s discussions on racism and being antiracist.”

Solomon also hosted multiple events with Dan Heaphy in 2024 to talk about Heaphy’s time as the lead investigator for the Democrat-led House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack.

Solomon said that after Biden won the November 2020 election that “one of the tragedies of the past four years has been how Trumpism has found support among people who oppose civil rights and among people who sympathize with Nazism, nationalism, and white supremacy, and it was great to see that it was the black community really repudiating Trumpism.” He said the Republican Party experienced "permanent damage” under Trump.

Monk-Morgan, the president and CEO of the Kansas Leadership Center, said she was boycotting Ivanka Trump’s clothing brand in 2017 after Trump won the presidency. Monk-Morgan had previously bought five or six pairs of Ivanka-branded shoes, but told CNN in 2017: “It just so happens that with this particular administration, there’s an opportunity to protest with … where we spend our money … I said, you know what, I’m not going to buy this… We’re not going to support chaos.” She also touted her personal boycott on Twitter. Monk-Morgan was also listed as a “planning committee member” and an “organizer” for a “First Gens for Kamala” event posted October 2024.

Her “Monks Not Punks” consulting and speaking business said that “we specialize in…Diversity and Inclusion.” The Kansas Leadership Center press release announcing her hiring said that her business “supports stakeholders in a variety of industries focused on equity, women, and education.”

An article on the Witchita Business Journal’s virtual “Inclusion Summit” said that Monk-Morgan said in a one-on-one interview that “acknowledging privilege is a step toward inclusion.” And she said in a May 2022 interview that “we didn’t have an Office of Diversity and Inclusion when I first came to Wichita State. I started the first ever diversify-related programs.”

"Democracy under assault" by Trump: Rodel's faculty advisors

The Rodel Institute also lists twenty faculty advisors for its organization --- the vast majority of whom are Trump critics or have vocally opposed Trump policies.

One, Yale professor Akhil Reed Amar, filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in 2024 that Trump should be disqualified from running for president because of his involvement in an “insurrection.”

Notre Dame professor Karrie Koesel signed a February open letter which read: “We write to express our urgent concern about threats to the basic design of American government and democracy. In its early days, the second administration of Donald J. Trump has disregarded existing laws and regulations. It threatens to undermine the division of powers and checks and balances, hallmarks of America’s constitutional order.”

University of Richmond law professor Jim Gibson signed a March open letter which said: “We believe we are in a constitutional crisis. The President has signed a number of executive orders that are beyond his constitutional or statutory authority.” Rebecca Hollander-Blumoff, a Washington University law professor, also signed that letter.

Fernando Cutz, who works at Meta, had been a senior advisor to former Trump National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, and was also on the Obama White House National Security Council. He attacked Trump in writing during the Ukraine impeachment in 2019: “Every career official will tell you it’s not just chilling but frightening. You’re seeing things happen in an unprecedented way that even Nixon didn’t do. . . . The broader message to career officials is that you can’t speak up. Even if you see something illegal, something unethical, you can’t speak up. That’s the message the president wants to send.”

Rodel awarded Francis Fukuyama, the author of The End of History and another Trump critic, with the Edwards Book Award. Fukuyama said in September 2024 that “the willingness of many Republican voters to normalize the events of January 6, 2021, is a symptom of weakening democratic norms in the world’s leading democracy.”

National Defense University professor Jill Goldenziel argued after Trump won in November 2016: “Not all Trump voters are racist. But justice demands we all denounce the hate his campaign empowered.” She argued in December 2020 that Trump’s “contempt for the law of war has damaged U.S. national security.”

David Greenberg, a professor at Rutgers, is a Trump critic who has negatively compared Trump to former President Richard Nixon.

Juliette Kayyem, a Harvard lecturer and former Obama national security official, is a constant Trump critic on TV and in print. Days after January 6th, she said, “For the past four years, Donald Trump has been playing two roles: one as president, and the other as the rallying point for a coalition of theocrats, internet fantasists, white supremacists, and various other authoritarians who are in no way committed to peaceful transitions of power. Wednesday’s insurrection at the United States Capitol made Trump’s latter role all too clear.”

Cornell law professor Alexandra Lahav has repeatedly defended Boasberg’s handling of the Venezuelan gang member case on BlueSky, the social media platform created as a safe space for leftists.

Lou Mulligan, the law dean at the University of Missouri - Kansas City was on a list of amici --- “friends of the court” — in a lawsuit filed by congressional Democrats who sought to sue Trump over allegations that he had violated the Constitution’s foreign emoluments clause. Most related to the issue with Boasberg, he was also amici in litigation opposing the Trump administration in court over Trump’s executive orders limiting immigration to the U.S. from a number of predominantly Muslim countries.

Stanford law professor Nathaniel Persily has repeatedly referred to January 6th as an “insurrection.” He declared in January 2021 that “the basics of American democracy and government are under assault” by Trump, suggesting that Democrats should make D.C. and Puerto Rico states to benefit them electorally.

A group of leftwing philanthropic organizations signed a June 2023 open letter opposing the Supreme Court’s ruling in Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina and Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, where the Supreme Court had struck down affirmative action admissions policies at the schools. Among the signatories was “Rodel” --- although it is unclear if the signer was Rodel Inc., the Rodel Foundation, or the Rodel Institute.

Book award named for ex-Republican and Trump critic

The Rodel Institute announced the creation of the Edwards Book Award in 2022. The institute’s CEO, Kroger, said that "with threats to democracy increasing across the globe, recognizing books addressing how democracies thrive is more important than ever.” The prize was “named in honor of Marvin Henry ‘Mickey’ Edwards, who has inspired generations of American public servants and students as a Member of Congress… and founding Executive Director of the Rodel Fellowship.”

Mickey Edwards, the former Republican congressman, wrote in September 2020: “Joe Biden is not a perfect man, but he is a man of humble decency. America needs a restored sense of national unity, basic civility and true character in our president. After four years of reckless Trumpian chaos and division, we believe it is time for a new president and ask that you join us.”

Edwards said a week after January 6th that “there is no Republican Party anymore that has values, principles, morals, anything. They voted to question the election results even after people came into the Capitol, tried to kill them, and killed a police officer who was trying to protect them.” Edwards said in February 2021 that attendees of CPAC no longer believed in the Constitution, free elections, or democracy, saying that “they're no different than the people who flock to other totalitarian leaders in other countries.”

He said in October that “after devoting nearly 60 years to the Republican Party… I am going to vote for Harris for president.” Edwards wrote in January that “it’s been four years since the United States Capitol was attacked by an army of Americans” and he lamented that “the man who set it in motion will again take the oath of office he violated four years ago and move back into the White House.”

The Board of Directors leans left or just dislikes Trump, or both

The Rodel Institute’s Board of Directors also includes a number of Trump critics --- again including Ian Solomon among them.

Bill Budinger, the co-founder of the Rodel Foundation, was a founding trustee for the Democratic Leadership Council and has been listed as a trustee for the Progressive Policy Institute, which was founded by the Democratic Leadership Council.

Don Budinger, also a co-founder of the Rodel Foundation, signed onto a 2011 petition opposing state-level efforts in Arizona to deal with illegal immigration, donated to Democratic Senate candidate Mark Kelly in 2019, and attended a fundraiser for Democratic Senate candidate Ruben Gale in May 2024.

Steve Bullock was the former Democratic governor of Montana and was reportedly considered as a contender for Kamala Harris’s Cabinet had she won.

Heather Carter, a former Arizona state legislator who had been a Republican but later registered as an independent, has become critical of the GOP and has endorsed some Democrats. She said that “I am 100% supporting Katie Hobbs” --- the Democratic candidate for Arizona governor — in 2022, arguing, “As a former Republican, I became even more concerned with the fact that we have Republican candidates who are fundamentally peddling lies about the 2020 election.”

Jamie Woodson, a former Republican Tennessee state senator, was the co-chair for a 2019 report on the “Crisis in Democracy: Renewing Trust in America.” The report said that “provocateurs and hatemongers, foreign and domestic, are fueling disagreements, and media are amplifying the divides” and lamented the “failure to neutralize political disinformation campaigns during the 2016 U.S. presidential election cycle.”

Rob McKenna, the former Republican attorney general in Washington, called Trump "a demagogue and an opportunist with no real foundation in principles or values." McKenna also criticized Trump over his fight with Boasberg this month, calling Trump’s legal arguments “flimsy.”

Assessing the Results of Venezuela’s Presidential Election

Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State

The United States applauds the Venezuelan people for their participation in the July 28 presidential election despite significant challenges. At least 12 million Venezuelans peacefully went to the polls and exercised one of the most powerful rights given to people in any democracy: the right to vote. Unfortunately, the processing of those votes and the announcement of results by the Maduro-controlled National Electoral Council (CNE) were deeply flawed, yielding an announced outcome that does not represent the will of the Venezuelan people.

The CNE’s rapid declaration of Nicolás Maduro as the winner of the presidential election came with no supporting evidence. The CNE still has not published disaggregated data or any of the vote tally sheets, despite repeated calls from Venezuelans and the international community to do so. As the independent Carter Center’s observation mission reported, the CNE’s failure to provide the precinct-level official results, as well as irregularities throughout the process, have stripped the CNE’s announced outcome of any credibility.

Meanwhile, the democratic opposition has published more than 80 percent of the tally sheets received directly from polling stations throughout Venezuela. Those tally sheets indicate that Edmundo González Urrutia received the most votes in this election by an insurmountable margin. Independent observers have corroborated these facts, and this outcome was also supported by election day exit polls and quick counts. In the days since the election, we have consulted widely with partners and allies around the world, and while countries have taken different approaches in responding, none have concluded that Nicolás Maduro received the most votes this election.

Given the overwhelming evidence, it is clear to the United States and, most importantly, to the Venezuelan people that Edmundo González Urrutia won the most votes in Venezuela’s July 28 presidential election.

In addition, the United States rejects Maduro’s unsubstantiated allegations against opposition leaders. Maduro and his representatives’ threats to arrest opposition leaders, including Edmundo González and María Corina Machado, are an undemocratic attempt to repress political participation and retain power.

The safety and security of the democratic opposition leaders and members must be protected. All Venezuelans arrested while peacefully exercising their right to participate in the electoral process or demand transparency in the tabulation and announcement of results should be released immediately. Law enforcement and security forces should not become an instrument of political violence used against citizens exercising their democratic rights.

We congratulate Edmundo González Urrutia on his successful campaign. Now is the time for the Venezuelan parties to begin discussions on a respectful, peaceful transition in accordance with Venezuelan electoral law and the wishes of the Venezuelan people. We fully support the process of re-establishing democratic norms in Venezuela and stand ready to consider ways to bolster it jointly with our international partners.

Originally posted at >>>/qresearch/22812550 (240501ZMAR25) Notable: Inciting violence for a political agenda sedition Arrested Jeanette Vizguerra, a convicted criminal Mexican illegal alien & immigration activist

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

NEW: ICE confirms to @FoxNews that they arrested Jeanette Vizguerra, a convicted criminal Mexican illegal alien & immigration activist, in Aurora, CO yesterday. ICE confirms she has a final order of removal (deportation order) via a DOJ immigration judge, and has repeatedly had due process, including multiple stays of deportation. She notoriously hid in a Denver church for years to avoid deportation, and she has remained an immigration fugitive.

Despite having a final order of removal stretching back to the Obama administration, several Democrat politicians in Colorado falsely claimed today that Vizguerra has had no due process, including Denver Mayor

@MikeJohnstonCO, who called her arrest a “Putin-style persecution of a political dissident”, and Senator @MichaelBennet, who claimed ICE detained her “without any due process, like a deportation order.”

ICE confirms she does, in fact, have a deportation order, and has had one for years.

Below is the background & criminal history on Vizguerra up until 2019, according to ICE:

•On Feb. 5, 2009, the ICE Denver office lodged an immigration detainer on Vizguerra-Ramirez.

•On Feb. 26, 2009, the Arapahoe County Court, Centennial, Colorado, convicted Vizguerra-Ramirez of forged instrument possession 2nd degree, and sentenced her to a term of 23 days in jail.

•On Feb. 27, 2009, ICE took custody of Vizguerra-Ramirez from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office pursuant to an immigration detainer.

•On March 11, 2009, Vizguerra-Ramirez was released from ICE custody after posting an immigration bond.

•On March 27, 2009, Arapahoe County Court convicted Vizguerra-Ramirez of failure to display proof of insurance and driving without a license and ordered her to pay fines.

•On Nov. 18, 2011, a federal immigration judge denied Vizguerra-Ramirez her application for relief from immigration proceedings, but granted her a voluntary departure (considered an immigration benefit). She failed to depart the U.S. per the terms of the order within the 60-day window and instead filed an appeal with the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) on Dec. 16, 2011.

•On Sept. 8, 2012, Vizguerra-Ramirez self-removed to Mexico.

•On April 22, 2013, U.S. Border Patrol arrested Vizguerra-Ramirez in Candelaria, Texas, after she illegally returned to the U.S., and referred her case for federal prosecution for illegal re-entry after removal (a felony).

•On May 1, 2013, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Pecos Division, convicted Vizguerra-Ramirez of illegal entry (a misdemeanor), and sentenced her to one year of unsupervised probation.

•On May 2, 2013, Vizguerra-Ramirez entered ICE custody in El Paso, Texas, where her prior removal order was reinstated, pending her Dec. 16, 2011, BIA appeal.

•On May 30, 2013, the BIA considered Vizguerra-Ramirez’s case withdrawn because she departed the U.S. prior to a decision being made on her appeal.

•On June 7, 2013, ICE in El Paso released Vizguerra-Ramirez on an order of supervision because under policy at the time she did not meet the agency’s priorities for removal.

•On July 2, 2014, ICE granted Vizguerra-Ramirez’s application for stay of deportation until Feb. 1, 2015.

•On Feb. 20, 2015, ICE in Denver granted Vizguerra application for stay of deportation until Aug. 19, 2015.

•On Feb. 15, 2017, ERO Denver denied another application for stay of deportation. Her counsel notified ICE that she would be taking sanctuary in the First Unitarian Society Church in Denver and would not be reporting to ICE as ordered.

•On May 11, 2017, Vizguerra-Ramirez received an automatic stay of removal due to Senate Bill 603, a private bill submitted on her behalf and her removal was stayed until March 15, 2019. The private bill was not enacted.

•On March 14, 2019, Vizguerra-Ramirez once again sought sanctuary at the First Unitarian Society Church in Denver where she remains an immigration fugitive.

Dodgers Star Betts still waylaid by mystery illness

March 23, 2025

Betts, who has been dealing with an illness that has caused him to drop approximately 15 pounds and led to the Dodgers sending him home from Tokyo early, was removed from the batting order about 90 minutes before the game started after a bout of vomiting. Miguel Rojas stepped in at shortstop.

According to Betts, he has thrown up every time he has eaten solid foods for nearly two weeks. He first noticed symptoms ahead of the Dodgers’ Cactus League finale on March 11. Betts can keep down liquids, such as smoothies, and received an IV while in Tokyo, but anything else has proven too challenging on his stomach. A specific diagnosis has yet to be determined.

Bad news for the tooth fairy: Humans may be one step closer to regrowing their teeth with the help of a new drug from Japanese researchers.

The intravenous treatment suppresses uterine sensitization-associated gene-1 (USAG-1) protein, the antibody which prevents tooth regrowth.

Scientists at Kyoto University Hospital will conduct the first human trial of the drug from September 2024 to August 2025. In tests on ferrets and mice, the drug worked with no notable side effects, Popular Mechanics reported.

The drug will be used on 30 men between 30-64 who are missing at least one molar. From there, researchers will expand the study to those with partial edentulism, or those missing one to five permanent teeth.

“We want to do something to help those who are suffering from tooth loss or absence,” said lead researcher Katsu Takahashi, head of dentistry and oral surgery at Kitano Hospital told NewAtlas. While there has been no treatment to date providing a permanent cure, we feel that people’s expectations for tooth growth are high.”

If the trial is effective, the medicine could be commercially available as soon as 2030.

@realDonaldTrump

The 14th Amendment Right of American Citizenship never had anything to do with modern day "gate crashers," illegal immigrants who break the Law by being in our Country, it had everything to do with giving Citizenship to former slaves. Our Founding Fathers are "spinning in their graves" at the idea that our Country can be taken away from us. No Nation in the World has anything like this. Our lawyers and Judges have to be tough, and protect America!

The Fourteenth Amendment (Amendment XIV) to the United States Constitution was adopted on July 9, 1868, as one of the Reconstruction Amendments. Usually considered one of the most consequential amendments, it addresses citizenship rights and equal protection under the law and was proposed in response to issues related to formerly enslaved Americans following the American Civil War. The amendment was bitterly contested, particularly by the states of the defeated Confederacy, which were required to ratify it to regain representation in Congress. The amendment, particularly its first section, is one of the most litigated parts of the Constitution, forming the basis for landmark Supreme Court decisions such as Brown v. Board of Education (1954) regarding racial segregation, Loving v. Virginia (1967) regarding interracial marriage, Roe v. Wade (1973) regarding abortion (overturned in 2022), Bush v. Gore (2000) regarding the 2000 presidential election, Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) regarding same-sex marriage, and Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard (2023) regarding race-based college admissions. The amendment limits the actions of all state and local officials, and also those acting on behalf of such officials.

The amendment's first section includes the Citizenship Clause, Privileges or Immunities Clause, Due Process Clause, and Equal Protection Clause. The Citizenship Clause broadly defines citizenship, superseding the Supreme Court's decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857), which had held that Americans descended from African slaves could not be U.S. citizens. Since an 1873 decision, the Privileges or Immunities Clause has been interpreted to do little. The Due Process Clause prohibits state and local governments from depriving persons of life, liberty, or property without a fair procedure; the Supreme Court has ruled that this clause makes most of the Bill of Rights as applicable to the states as it is to the federal government, as well as to recognize substantive and procedural requirements that state laws must satisfy. The Equal Protection Clause requires each state to provide equal protection under the law to all people, including non-citizens, within its jurisdiction. This clause has been the basis for many decisions rejecting discrimination against people belonging to various groups.

The second, third, and fourth sections of the amendment are seldom litigated. The second section's reference to "rebellion, or other crime" has been invoked as a constitutional ground for felony disenfranchisement. The third section discusses disqualification from office for engaging in insurrection or rebellion; the 2024 decision in Trump v. Anderson (regarding president Donald Trump's actions during the January 6 Capitol attack) held that Congress determines eligibility for federal offices, while state governments only do so for state offices. The fourth section was held, in Perry v. United States (1935), to prohibit Congress from dismissing a contract of debt incurred by a prior Congress. The fifth section gives Congress the power to enforce the amendment's provisions by "appropriate legislation", but under City of Boerne v. Flores (1997), not to the extent of contradicting Supreme Court decisions interpreting the amendment.

The Reconstruction Amendments are interpreted as being intentionally designed to expand federal power and reduce states' rights.[1][2][3]

Replying to @Qanon76

I couldn’t agreed more, these activists judges need to be impeached and removed from the bench permanently, never to practice law again. They are legislating from the bench rather than doing their job of correctly interpreting our constitution based on its actual words and the Federalist Papers and applying it. Outside resources to the constitution are to be used conservatively to the point they reinforce what is already clearly understood, not liberally to change its original intent. Our Constitution is not a “living breathing document,” as the liberal propagates, but rather a precisely worded framework and contract to be adhered to by our government, thus solidifying it being, “by the people and for the people.” We The People are to be able to hold our elected officials to higher standards than even our own, not lower ones. They are to be above approach, earning the trust of the American people, not cutting deals and compromising their Judeo/Christian beliefs in order to gain fortune, fame, power and pleasure.

@realDonaldTrump

Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before. The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older. In any event, I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one, but many people from Colorado have called and written to complain. In fact, they are actually angry about it! I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don’t worry, we saved it!), to take it down. Jared should be ashamed of himself!

Bernie Sanders Shocks Supporters, Praises Trump’s Border Security: ‘Nobody Thinks Illegal Immigration Is Appropriate’ (VIDEO)

by Ben Kew Mar. 23, 2025 7:40 pm

Senator Bernie Sanders has said he supports President Trump’s efforts in securing the U.S. border and stopping illegal immigration.

During an interview on This Week, host Jonathan Karl asked Sanders whether he thought there was anything Trump had done right.

“I think cracking down on fentanyl, making sure our borders are stronger,”Sanders replied.

“Look, nobody thinks illegal immigration is appropriate, and I happen to think we need comprehensive immigration reform, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for people to be coming across the border illegally.”

However, he was more critical of Trump’s plans to carry out mass deportations of illegal immigrants, saying it “destroy” America.

“He wants to deport 20 million people who are in this country who are undocumented,”Sanders said.

=“Well, you do that, you destroy the entire country.”

“Because I got news for you, Trump’s billionaire friends are not going to pick the crops in California that feed us.”

“They’re not going to work in meatpacking houses,” he continued. “That’s what undocumented people are doing.”

Watch the interview below:

Later on in the interview, Sanders got visibly annoyed and brought the exchange to a close after he was asked about his own political future.

“Right now I’m Vermont’s senator,” he said. “That’s what I do.”

”And I’m very happy to do it. I am 83 years of age. And I’m tired.”

His remarks come as he and fellow socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are traveling America with their “Fight Oligarchy” tour, which is attractinghuge numbers of the left-wing faithful at a time when Democratic energy is at an all-time low.

The tour is mainly a response to push back against Elon Musk’s efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he is aiming to make over a trillion dollars in cuts to the federal budget.

“Over the course of the next few weeks I’ll be hitting the road to have real discussions across America on how we move forward to take on the Oligarchs and corporate interests who have so much power and influence in this country,” the tour’s website states.

Last week, it emerged thatSanders’ team sent out an email advising everyone planning to attend to wear a mask and stay home if they believe they are suffering from COVID-19, despite the pandemic ending severeal years ago.

Canadian Snap Elections Confirmed for April 28th -- All Parties Begin Campaigning Against the Background of an Impending Trade War With the US

By Paul Serran Mar. 23, 2025

As it was expected, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called a snap election for 28 April, trying to capitalize on the recent surge of his Liberal party in the polls.

This liberal rise came in the runup of the controversy over Donald J. Trump’s comments about Canada’s exceedingly high tariffs on US products.

Trump eventually said that if Canada can’t survive without massive subsides from the US, then they should become the 51st state -- and all hell broke loose in the Canadian political landscape.

Former banker Carney says he needs ‘a clear mandate’ to deal with Trump, saying the US president ‘wants to break us so America will own us’.

BBC reported:

“Earlier, the Conservative Party’s Pierre Poilievre laid out his own campaign pitch -- saying he would approach the US as a ‘respectful and firm and strong’ leader”

This election will be held against the background of an impending trade war between Canada and its biggest trade partner the US.

“Carney, leader of the Liberal Party, will face competition from Pierre Poilievre, Jagmeet Singh -- leader of the New Democratic Party, and Yves-François Blanchet – leader of the Bloc Québécois”

“The Liberals and the Conservatives are essentially tied in the polls ahead of the expected election call today.

According to CBC’s Poll Tracker, which averages multiple surveys, the Liberals are at 37.5% and the Conservatives at 37.1%, both nationally.”

CBC reported:

“Liberal Leader Mark Carney revealed he would introduce a middle-class tax cut that could affect up to 22 million Canadians. ‘Negativity won’t win a trade war’, he said in a shot at Tory Leader Pierre Poilievre during his first speech.

Speaking earlier in Quebec, Poilievre unveiled his ‘Canada First, For a Change’, campaign slogan.Poilievre said a ‘lost Liberal decade’ has left Canada weak and vulnerable on the world stage.”

Ministers may siphon off stalled £950m fund for motorway chargers

Talks to take place with operators about the scheme, announced in 2020, which has failed to make any grants

Jasper Jolly

Mon 24 Mar 2025 06.00 GMT

Ministers are considering diverting money from a £950m scheme to install rapid chargers for electric cars on the UK’s motorways, announced five years ago, after it failed to make a single grant.

Much of the cash allocated to the rapid charging fund (RCF) could be redirected to investments in other charging schemes, or to support the transition to electric vehicles more broadly, although decisions have yet to be made, according to a person close to discussions in government.

The charging companies Osprey, InstaVolt and Char.gy said the money should be used to support charging in other ways.

The fund was announced in March 2020, before the first Covid-19 lockdowns, by Rishi Sunak, who was then chancellor. It was meant to pay for high-power grid connections for remote motorway service stations. That would combat “range anxiety” by the installation of ultra-rapid chargers capable of adding hundreds of miles of charge within minutes.

However, not a penny of the £950m fund has been spent. Competition regulators raised concerns that the money could unfairly benefit some motorway service operators, forcing the government to go back to the drawing board.

The delays had raised concerns in the industry that the money might be cut back or not be spent on charging at all, with Keir Starmer making billions of pounds of controversial cuts to the overseas aid and disability benefits budgets. A government source said that there is no plan to scrap the programme, but added that it needed to be adjusted to reflect the changes in the market.

“We want to make best use of government money,” the person said. “The concept of supporting charging is not going anywhere.”

Motorway service area operators, who could lose out, are due to meet a transport minister after Rachel Reeves’s spring statement on Wednesday, although details of the changes are not expected in time for the meeting. The big three motorway services companies are Moto, Welcome Break and Roadchef, which are ultimately owned by private equity investors.

Other charger companies -- who would not have benefited from the fund – argue that the money would be better spent elsewhere.

Ian Johnston, chief executive of Osprey Charging Network, said the fund was “a poor use of taxpayer money, at a time when public funds are so limited”, although he added that there were “isolated cases” of motorway service areas that will need support for grid connections.

He added: “Most of the vast rollout of public charging infrastructure, including at motorway service areas, has been funded by private investment. This rollout has surged ahead despite the RCF being significantly delayed.”

Delvin Lane, chief executive of InstaVolt, a rapid charger company, called for the money to be spent on cutting the 20% VAT on public charging to match the 5% rate for home chargers, electric car purchase subsidies, and cutting energy costs.

A Department for Transport spokesperson said:

“We want to use taxpayers’ money as efficiently as possible to make the transition to electric vehicles a success, and we launched the rapid charging fund pilot to better understand where we should target government support. We will apply learnings from the pilot to continue boosting charging infrastructure on the strategic road network.”

Sunday Talks -- Kash Patel Discusses His FBI Mission Priority with Good Friend and Mentor Trey Gowdy

March 24, 2025 | Sundance | 48 Comments

FBI Director Kash Patel makes his first television appearance on Fox News to discuss his mission priority within the FBI. Defending the honorable rank and file FBI agents, Kash Patel notes his intention is to focus on the massive increase in violent crime that has come as an outcome of open borders and illegal alien inflows.

Kash Patel has a long relationship with both Trey Gowdy and current CIA Director John Ratcliffe going back to the days when Patel was the lead staffer for Devin Nunes on the House Intelligence Committee, and Gowdy with Ratcliffe were selected to review the FISA application at the center of ‘Russiagate.’

Mr. Gowdy puts the number of honorable FBI officials at 95% and Director Patel agrees, saying he wants to return to the time when he and his family would invite FBI agents for a cup of coffee.

Patel then emphasizes he has already addressed the bad actors within the FBI and will continue to hold the internal investigative officers accountable with a zero-tolerance approach.

During the interview Trey Gowdy wants to emphasize how qualified Kash Patel is for this role in the FBI, delivering effusive praise for his mentee and friend, Director Patel. =Gowdy calls Kash Patel the ’employee of the month’ for his excellence and brilliance in his first 30-days. (that’s weird==) WATCH:

Sunday Talks -- Nat Sec Advisor Mike Waltz Discusses Iran and the Ongoing TdA Deportation Effort

March 23, 2025 | Sundance |

Obviously, Margaret Brennan is a leftist operative within the media space and desperate to direct any conversation toward the narrative issues that are organized by the professional Democrats in DC.Within this interview her priorities are protecting Iran, protecting Hamas and protecting illegal criminal aliens.

Regarding Tren de Aragua criminal gang illegal alien removals, Ms. Brennan says their removal is not a “deportation” they are being sent to prison, and furthermore they are not being afforded “their day in court.”

NSA Waltz misses the opportunity to tell Brennan immigration and DHS are deporting them, removing them; however, we are under no obligation to repatriate them. Perhaps Ms Brennan could look up the term ‘deportation’ in a dictionary.Obviously, illegal aliens do not have U.S constitutional protection, so “their day in court” is a little silly. Russian official arrested for leaking intel to Kiev -- FSB

The suspected traitor shared classified data about the country’s border resilience measures, the security agency has alleged

A suspected Russian traitor has been taken into custody for allegedly transmitting classified information to Ukraine, the Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced.

A brief statement on Monday identified the suspect asan employee of the central officeof a Russian agency responsible for overseeing government operations.

Last year, he allegedly reached out to the Ukrainian government, offering “informationabout efforts to protect industrial and energy sites in the border areas of the Russian Federation,” as well asdetails on troop deployments.

If found guilty of treason, the suspect could face a life sentence.

The administration of US President Donald Trump has mediated a partial ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides pledging to suspend attacks against energy infrastructure.

The measure, which is meant to build momentum for a more comprehensive truce currently being negotiated in Saudi Arabia, was not honored by Kiev, according to the Russian military. Officials have accused Ukraine of launching a kamikaze drone strike against an oil transfer station in Russia’s Krasnodar Region and blowing up a gas metering station in Kursk Region.

Moscow has said that while its commitment not to attack Ukrainian energy sites holds,it reserves the right to pull out of the deal if Kiev continues to violate it.

Takedown Organizer In New York Drove To His Own Tesla Takedown Protest IN HIS TESLA🚨

Cc: @elonmusk

As @LoomerUnleashed

reported today, the organizer of the Tesla Takedown that took place in Manhasset, NY this afternoon is a Chinese man named Christopher Lee. @LoomerUnleashed

has noticed a very alarming trend at these Tesla Takedown protests we have been covering. We have discovered that many of the organizers are Chinese nationals.

Are the Tesla Takedowns being organized by hostile Chinese adversaries to hurt the Trump administration?

It certainly warrants an investigation. @FBIDirectorKash

@dbongino

Today, @LoomerUnleashed

contributor @CcpSkipTracer

followed Christopher Lee both during the protest, where we took photos of him, and then we followed him to his car in the parking lot outside of the shopping center when he left the Tesla Takedown protest he organized (see invite below with his name on it).

To our shock, we captured photographic evidence to prove that Christopher Lee drives a deep blue metallic @Tesla

Model 3!!!!

Hypocrisy much?

We took photos of Lee at the protest and as he was getting into his Tesla with a female Chinese companion who spoke zero English!

The Tesla Takedown protesters are such hypocrites! Some of them, like Chinese Christopher Lee, are Tesla owners!!

Protesting @Tesla

while owning a Tesla?

SHAMELESS!
