Prosecuted Romanian presidential candidate asks Trump for help

The US president should stop the assault on democracy launched by the Romanian “deep state,” Calin Georgescu has said

Calin Georgescu, the winner of the first round of last year’s annulled presidential election in Romania, has asked US President Donald Trump for help. The politician is facing criminal charges at home, which he has called part of a political persecution campaign against him.

“I definitely ask President Trump to take care about the situation,” Georgescu told an American blogger, Mario Nawfal, in an interview published on X on Thursday. On Wednesday, Georgescu was arrested by the police as he was about to file to run for the presidency again. He was released later the same day.

According to the Romanian authorities, Georgescu faces a total of six charges, including “anti-constitutional acts” and misreporting his finances. He was barred by a court order from leaving the country, appearing on TV, or posting anything on social media.

Speaking to Nawfal on Thursday, the politician denounced the criminal case against him as an assault on democracy that runs counter to the will of the Romanian people. Georgescu came out of ahead in the first round of the presidential election in November in a surprise victory. The Constitutional Court then annulled the results shortly before the second round of voting, citing “irregularities” in the politician’s campaign amid unproven claims of Russian interference in the electoral process.

According to Georgescu, the persecution campaign against him had “exposed” the Romanian “deep state” and its “corruption.” The politician claimed that Romania had been thrown back to the 1950s when it was ruled by a Communist regime.

“The deep state is so strong in this particular [kind] of activity,” Georgescu said, referring to his arrest on Wednesday. He also vowed to “fight for our freedom and for our democracy” and called on the US to support him in this fight.

According to Georgescu, the US should support him in order to preserve its own image as a beacon of democracy. If democracy is defeated “in one country” in a “coup d’etat” that would mean a failure for the US as well, the politician stated.

Washington has so far not commented on Georgescu’s appeal.US officials have previously criticized the actions of Bucharest for annulling the results of the November election.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference earlier this month, Vice President J.D. Vance suggested that some “old entrenched interests” in Romania were using “ugly, Soviet-era words like misinformation and disinformation” to secure their own interests and prevent a politician with “an alternative viewpoint” from coming to power.

Elon Musk slammed the politician’s arrest on Wednesday by calling the move “messed up.”

Georgescu is known for his skepticism towards Western influence over the country’s policies and criticizing both NATO and the EU. During his campaign, he also vowed to halt Romania’s military aid to Kiev if elected.

Washington has begun to demonstrate pragmatism and a determination to resolve the accumulated problems, the Russian president has said

The renewed contacts between Moscow and the administration of US President Donald Trump havesparked “hope” that relationsbetween the two countries could move in a positive direction, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

Communication between Russia and the US effectively broke down under former US President Joe Biden. Trump has sought to revise Washington’s approach towards foreign policy and held an extensive phone call with Putin on February 12. After that, Russian and US delegations held a high-level meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to discuss reestablishing dialogue.

Speaking at a meeting of the board of Russia’s Federal Security Service on Thursday, Putin said that “the first contacts with the new American administration inspire certain hopes.” The American side has demonstrated a “reciprocal determination to work on restoring interstate relations,on gradually resolving the colossal volume of accumulated systemic and strategic problems in the world architecture.”

He noted that these issues, which had accumulated in recent years, ultimately provoked the Ukraine conflict and other regional crises.

On Thursday, Russian and US diplomats held a closed-door meeting in Istanbul to discuss normalizing embassy operations following years of strained relations and diplomatic expulsions.

According to Putin, not everyone in the West appears to be happy with the restoration of US-Russia ties. In his words, “part of the Western elites are still determined to maintain instability in the world” and will likely try to disrupt or compromise the dialogue that has begun between Moscow and Washington.

At the same time, the president noted that thecurrent US leadershipappears to be showing a certain“pragmatism” and a “realistic view on things”by rejecting many stereotypes and “messianic ideological cliches of their predecessors,” which had contributed to the collapse of relations.

Earlier this week, Putin said that Russia and the US are discussing “major” joint economic projects, noting that Moscow is ready to cooperate with American private companies and government entities to develop Russia’s rare-earth minerals.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that Moscow and Washington could restore economic ties after the Ukraine conflict is resolved. Trump has also suggested that sanctions on Moscow could be lifted “at some point” as part of a negotiated settlement on Ukraine.

Conservative political commentators were spotted at the White House Thursday holding binders that read "The Epstein Files" hours after Attorney General Pam Bondi promised the release of documents about wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein, who sexually abused underage girls.

Bondi, who faced mounting pressure from both Republicans and Democrats to release the disgraced financier’s "client list," claimed the details are "pretty sick."

It was not immediately clear what was in the binders, which have not been released publicly by the Justice Department.

The binders read "declassified," but it was not immediately clear whether the information contained in the binders ever had been classified. Among those holding the binders was political commentator Rogan O’Handley, also known as DC Draino.

Bondi said Wednesday on Fox News that the documents would include flight logs and "a lot of names," though it was unclear whether there would be details not already publicly known.

Epstein’s crimes and connections to famous people have long been a subject of public fascination and media scrutiny. Over the years, thousands of pages of records have been released through lawsuits, his criminal dockets, public disclosures and Freedom of Information Act requests.

In January 2024, a court unsealed a trove of documents that had been collected as evidence in a lawsuit filed Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre. Much of the material, including transcripts of victim interviews and old police reports, had already been publicly known.

Epstein sexually abused children hundreds of times over more than a decade, exploiting vulnerable girls as young as 14. He killed himself in 2019 while awaiting trial in his Manhattan jail cell.

The case has drawn widespread attention because of Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell's links to royals, presidents and billionaires. Maxwell herself is the daughter of the late British media tycoon Robert Maxwell, who once owned the New York Daily News.

Maxwell, 62, was found guilty in December 2021 of luring young girls to Epstein so he could molest them, between 1994 and 2004. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

President Donald Trump has confirmed that his proposed tariffs on Mexico and Canada will begin on March 4, with an “additional 10 percent tariff” likely to be charged to China.

Drugs such as fentanyl “are still pouring into our country from Mexico and Canada at very high and unacceptable levels,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, stating that many of them are “made in, and supplied by, China.”

“More than 100,000 people died last year due to the distribution of these dangerous and highly addictive POISONS. Millions of people have died over the last two decades. The families of the victims are devastated and, in many instances, virtually destroyed,” the president continued in his Thursday morning statement.

“We cannot allow this scourge to continue to harm the USA, and therefore, until it stops, or is seriously limited, the proposed TARIFFS scheduled to go into effect on MARCH FOURTH will, indeed, go into effect, as scheduled,” Trump wrote, before adding that “China will likewise be charged an additional 10 percent Tariff on that date.”

Trump previously stated that tariffs on goods from both Canada and Mexico would be 25 percent and has already levied a 10 percent tariff on China — meaning his latest statement to charge them an “additional 10 percent” would double the impact.

In his Thursday post, he also added that the “April Second Reciprocal Tariff date will remain in full force and effect.”

The second plans that Trump mentioned are set to launch on April 2, resetting tariffs to “match the taxes that he determines are charged by other countries on American goods,” PBS reported.

The president’s Truth Social announcement came before the 30-day embargo on tariffs between the U.S. and Canada comes to a close next week.

President Trump will have to come up with $15 billion in federal cash to fix New York City’s subway system if he wants to cut congestion pricing, Gov. Kathy Hochul insisted Thursday — as their ongoing spat over the controversial Manhattan toll only continues to escalate.

The Democrat said she gave Trump the so-called ultimatum during their White House sit-down late last week, telling him he would need to dip into US coffers to offset the billions the state is estimated to lose if the congestion toll is nixed.

“You’re gonna have to give me $15 billion to invest in a subway system, then,” Hochul told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” of her closed-door meeting with the president on Wednesday.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said she gave President Trump the so-called ultimatum during their White House sit-down late last week, telling him he would need to dip into federal coffers to offset the billions the state is estimated to lose if the congestion toll is nixed. MSNBC

The Trump administration has given the state a deadline of March 21 to “cease the collection of tolls” after US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced last week he was scrapping federal approval.

Hochul, for her part, has repeatedly vowed to resist the order.

“We have to fight to keep it going, and that’s why I’m taking it to the courts and I’ll take it wherever I can,” Hochul said during Thursday’s MSNBC appearance — as she doubled down on remarks made a day earlier.

“They’re telling us we have to have an orderly cessation by the end of March. I’m saying we’re going to have to have an orderly resistance,” she added.

The apparent demand is just the latest development in the heated showdown between the Trump administration and state over the scheme to charge drivers a $9 fee to enter Manhattan below 60th Street. AP

“I said, ‘Mr. President, you’re a New Yorker. First of all, the most offensive thing I found in the letter from Sean Duffy was citing New Jersey saying they don’t like this,'” she said, referring to the transportation secretary’s order to cut the toll.

“‘Mr. President, we’re both New Yorkers. Why do we care what New Jersey thinks?,'” she continued.

“It’s a lovely place. But you know what? If you are taking the tunnels, it’s 48% faster. So I want New Jersey residents to come here. Come be part of an important part of our economy. If you’re still driving … I just gave you the gift of time.

“Yes, I’m sorry, there’s a cost to it — but that’s what the concept of congestion pricing is all about.

I need to continue proving this to the president.”

It comes after MTA honcho Janno Lieber also vowed to continue collecting the toll until the state is slapped with a court order.

“We have an approval that is valid and in effect, and we’re not turning them off absent a court order,” Lieber said during Wednesday’s MTA board meeting.

He argued the toll had already proven to be effective, saying there had been 2.8 million fewer cars in the congestion relief zone since the program kicked off last month.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk is urging retired air traffic controllers to come back to the workforce amid the nationwide shortage of workers.“There is a shortage of top notch air traffic controllers. If you have retired, but are open to returning to work, please consider doing so,” Musk said in a Thursday post on X, the social media platform he owns.

Earlier this month, President Trump’s administration began firing hundreds of workers at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including personnel brought on for the FAA radar as well as landing and navigational aid maintenance.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy defended the terminations, noting that air traffic controllers were not cut in the process. Duffy said less than 400 workers were ousted from the FAA as part of the administration’s push to downsize the federal government, slash costs and improve efficiency.

These cuts came just weeks after an American Airlines plane collided with a Black Hawk helicopter right before landing at the Reagan Washington National Airport. The crash killed all 67 people and was one of the worst U.S. aviation crashes in the last 20 years.

Duffy said during an interview in early February that he planned to offer air traffic controllers an option to keep working past 56, the mandatory retirement age, in an effort to bolster safety and retain talent.

“I’m going to make an offer to air traffic controllers to let them stay longer. That’s my authority. I can offer them the chance to stay longer, past the mandatory retirement age of 56, pay them more, give them a bonus, keep them on the job, make the system safer, alleviate the pressure on the controllers,” Duffy said on Fox News. “They will make more money.”

Airports are still understaffed with air traffic controllers, and theFAA is looking to fill some 3,000 spots, according to the agency’s data.

Trump said he would discuss potential legislation with lawmakers that would revamp and improve the country’s air safety systems.“I think that’s going to be used for good,” Trump said during a National Prayer Breakfast earlier this month. “We’re going to do a great computerized system for our control towers. Brand new, not pieced together, obsolete.”

“We spent billions and billions of dollars trying to renovate an old broken system instead of just saying, ‘Let’s cut it loose, and let’s spend less money and build a great system,’” he added.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer presented Trump with the royal invitation from the King during their meeting in the Oval Office, with the president quickly accepting. “This is really special. The FBI is hiding Epstein documents from AG Pam Bondi.

These allegations are being made in a letter Bondi has sent FBI Director Kash Patel today.

The letter says that prior to Patel being sworn in, the FBI handed her 200-pages of Epstein documents.

Bondi claims she asked for ALL the Epstein documents.

Bondi adds that she questioned the documents that were sent to her office, but was assured by the FBI she received all the documents.

Bondi says that yesterday she learned from a source that the FBI field office in NY had more documents.

“The FBI never disclosed the existence of these files,” Bondi writes.

The AG adds that all the documents will be delivered to her office tomorrow at 8am ET.

Bondi is asking Patel to launch an investigation into why her order was not followed.

She’s giving Patel 14-days to deliver his findings.

BREAKING: Dashcam Footage Released of Fatal Police Shooting of Recently-Pardoned J6 Defendant Matthew Huttle

Newly released dashcam footage reveals the fatal police shooting of 42-year-old Matthew Huttle, a recently pardoned participant in the Capitol event.

The incident occurred on January 26, 2025, in Jasper County, Indiana, just days after President Donald Trump issued a blanket pardon to over 1,500 individuals involved in the 2021 protest.

It can be recalled that Investigative journalist Yehuda Miller and The Gateway Pundit reached out to Jasper County Sheriff Williamson following the news of the deadly shooting. We FOIAed video of the incident from the police cameras.

Sheriff Williamson told us that because this was an open investigation, he would not release the footage!

The video will only be released when the investigation is completed.

The footage, made public by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, begins with a deputy initiating a traffic stop on Huttle’s gold minivan for speeding—70 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Upon approach, Huttle immediately identifies himself as a January 6 defendant awaiting a pardon.

Visibly distressed, Huttle pleads, “I can’t go to jail,” before abruptly attempting to re-enter his vehicle, according to Indy Star.

A struggle ensues, during which Huttle declares, “I’m shooting myself.” The deputy, perceiving an imminent threat, discharges his firearm, fatally wounding Huttle.

Huttle then tells the deputy, unprompted, “I just want you to know I’m a January 6 defendant.”

“What do you mean?” the deputy asks.

“I stormed the Capitol,” Huttle says.

“Really?”

“Am I under arrest or anything?” Huttle asks.

After Huttle joins the deputy at the back of the van, the law enforcement officer explains that Huttle is a habitual offender. He gives Huttle a verbal warning for the speeding, but due to the felony status of being a habitual offender, the deputy says he has to take Huttle into custody.

“Today, you are going to come with me,” the deputy says.

“I can’t, I can’t,” Huttle responds.

“You’re going to have to,” the deputy tells him.

“I can’t go to jail for this, sir.”

“Don’t you do it, buddy!” the deputy says while chasing after him.

Huttle jumps into the driver’s seat and the two struggle, but the body camera footage is blurred and little can be made out.

“I’m shooting myself,” Huttle can be heard saying.

“No, no, no, no,” the deputy says.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded 9 mm handgun and a substantial amount of ammunition. The Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office has deemed the deputy’s use of deadly force legally justified.

At no time did Matt threaten the officer’s life, only his own. Now sadly, the sheriff deputy who shot Matthew has a wife and three kids. Nobody wins – PTSD Part of the bigger conversation we need to have about weaponized justice, and fix these problems for everyone.

Sources told The Hill that the layoffs will affect between 560 and 1,830 workers at the NOAA, which could amount to more than 10% of its workforce. The agency had a permanent workforce of 11,758 in fiscal year 2023.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on Thursday began laying off hundreds of its probationary employees, signaling the latest firings from government agencies in an effort to downscale the federal workforce.

The Trump administration began its massive reorganization of the federal government earlier this month, after the Office of Personnel Management directed federal agencies to begin firing its employees who are still in their probationary period.

Three sources told The Hill that the NOAA layoffs will affect between 560 and 1,830 workers at the agency, which could amount to more than 10% of its workforce. The agency had a permanent workforce of 11,758 in fiscal year 2023.

The sources said the terminations were contingent on whether Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was confirmed and sworn in. NOAA is part of the Department of Commerce, and provides daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings, climate monitoring, coastal restoration, and the supporting of marine commerce, the department website says.

The firings began on Thursday afternoon and are expected to continue into Friday.

California Rep. Jared Huffman, the top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee, slammed the firings in a statement.

“[Elon] Musk’s sham mission is bringing vital programs to a screeching halt. People nationwide depend on NOAA for free, accurate forecasts, severe weather alerts, and emergency information. Purging the government of scientists, experts, and career civil servants and slashing fundamental programs will cost lives,” Huffman said.

“My Democratic colleagues and I will keep fighting back in state and federal courts, in the halls of Congress, and the court of public opinion," he continued. "This is a betrayal of the American people, and it will not stand.”

Influential American Federation of Teachers union sues Education Department over DEI order

Randi Weingarten, the teachers union president, became famous for her left-wing activism.

The influential American Federation of Teachers is suing the Education Department over its order that schools receiving federal funds either end their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs within 14 days or risk losing the taxpayer money.

The suit was filed Tuesday, following the agency's Feb. 14 letter in which schools nationwide were given an ultimatum.

ATF, the country's second-largest teachers union, is led by Randi Weingarten. Historically, It has supported Democrats running for elected office through fundraising and get-out-the-vote efforts.

Weingarten is a longtime friend of Hilary Clinton, and ATF leadership's endorsement of her as the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee roiled rank-and-file union members.

The American Sociological Association (ASA), the national scholarly society for sociologists, is another plaintiff in the ATF lawsuit.

The suit was filed in a federal court in Maryland and alleges the department violated the First Amendment by forcing schools to teach only the views supported by the federal government.

The plaintiffs also argue the letter violated the Fifth Amendment because the directives are so vague that schools might not know which practices cross the line.

"The overbreadth and vagueness of the law, and the content-based restrictions it places on speech and expression, will force plaintiffs’ members to choose between chilling their constitutionally protected speech and association or risk losing federal funds and being subject to prosecution," the complaint stated.

The AFT and ASA asked the judge to declare the policy unconstitutional and bar federal officials from enforcing the directive.

Since taking office about a month ago, President Trump has aggressively tried to fulfill his campaign promise of eliminating such programs from institutions that receive federal funds, amid the argument that DEI initiatives are discriminatory and prioritize certain demographics over merit, particularly in hiring.

Bezos said that freedom is ethical, practical and encourages creativity.

Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos announced Wednesday that he is going to change the opinion section of the newspaper to promote personal liberties and free markets.

"We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets," Bezos wrote on the social media platform, X. "We’ll cover other topics too of course, but viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others."

He went on to say that freedom is ethical, practical and encourages creativity.

"I am of America and for America, and proud to be so," Bezos wrote. "Our country did not get here by being typical. And a big part of America’s success has been freedom in the economic realm and everywhere else."

This demonstrates another shift that Bezos is making in an attempt to make newspaper's largely liberal-leaning opinion pages more neutral.

The program will be produced by iHeartPodcasts.

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday he's launching his own podcast in which he'll interview guests who disagree with him on policy.

"I'm talking directly with people I disagree with, people I look up to, and you - the listeners," Newsom wrote on the social media platform, X. "Egg prices? Tariffs? DOGE? We're tackling all your big questions."

Newsom is considered a top likely Democratic candidate for president in 2028 and is considered among the most liberal within his political party, which will means likley have to appeal to moderates and some conservative to win a general election.

He said in a video that this podcast isn't an "ordinary politician" podcast.

Newsom is going to speak to individuals in the MAGA camp as well as other Democrats, according to a report from the Politico outlet.

“We already know what our disagreements are with the MAGA movement," Newsom said, according to the outlet. "I want to understand what the motivations are, the legitimacy of those motivations, and just really understand where people are coming from."

The program will be produced by iHeartPodcasts.

“At the same time, I want Democrats to come on and sort of challenge where we are on a lot of these issues,” Newsom said. “And so I’m asking the same questions you’re asking of me: Where the hell is the Democratic Party?"

Like a child custody battle in a throuple, U.S. tech companies are getting pulled in three directions as the Trump administration abandons its predecessor's tacit tolerance, if not always explicit approval, for official censorship in the European Union and Brazil.

The Federal Trade Commission joined the Federal Communications Commission in pressuring Big Tech to back off content moderation that allegedly suppresses conservative speech and challenges to establishment narratives compared to other speech, an evolution of the agencies' history of turf wars on internet policy issues.

President Trump issued another sweeping executive order Friday that includes investigating and countering U.K. and EU policies that may have "the effect of requiring or incentivizing the use or development" of U.S.-made products and services "in ways that undermine freedom of speech and political engagement or otherwise moderate content."

Trump Media and Technology Group, home of the president's Truth Social, and video platform Rumble also got a reprieve from a federal court in their lawsuit against Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes for his censorship orders.

U.S. District Judge Mary Scriven, nominated by President George W. Bush, ruled that Moraes didn't follow the Hague Convention or the countries' Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty in issuing his orders, so the plaintiffs didn't need a temporary restraining order to stop him.

"Censorship by technology platforms is not just un-American, it is potentially illegal," the FTC said, issuing a request for information that seeks public comment on consumer harm from "potentially unfair or deceptive acts or practices, or potentially unfair methods of competition," and specifically input from "current and former employees of technology platforms."

It asks for circumstances under which platforms have shadowbanned and demonetized users based on their speech and affiliations, what their "public-facing representations" said about moderation and whether users could appeal sanctions, what influenced such adverse actions and how they may have been enabled by lack of competition or weakened competition.

"Tech firms should not be bullying their users" into silencing themselves based on viewpoint, said FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, who was first appointed to the commission by President Biden and confirmed by the Senate less than a year ago.

Roughly 1,000 comments had already been filed by Wednesday afternoon in a proceeding that runs through May 21, many without real names and either critical of the proceeding or implying President Trump and X owner Elon Musk are the real threat to free speech.

"The Trumpsters are censoring our ability to say Gulf of Mexico, he//him, etc.," commenter "Andrew Ferguson" wrote, referring to Trump's tiff with the Associated Press over the renamed "Gulf of America" and reported ban on federal employees listing their gender pronouns.

It appears to be the Trump FTC's first confirmed shot across the bow at Big Tech, arriving late to the party started by cell tower-climbing FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, dubbed a Trump "sycophant" by House Judiciary Committee Ranking Democrat Jamie Raskin for reinstating complaints against broadcast networks for their election coverage decisions including editing.

Less than two weeks after the election, Trump-nominated Commissioner Carr said the "censorship cartel" that silenced Americans, with help from an "Orwellian" purported fact-checker, "must be dismantled and destroyed."

In letters to Google and Facebook parent companies as well as Microsoft and Apple, Carr said their work with NewsGuard, a rating system for news and information websites, might not be in "good faith," the condition for legal immunity under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

Apple also has to fend off increasing attacks from conservative rabble-rousers.

It defeated four resolutions at its annual shareholder meeting this week including transparency on how it fights child sexual abuse material and its relationships with activists such as the Human Rights Campaign, which requires companies to pay for so-called gender affirming care for minors to perform well on its Corporate Equality Index.

The reports on Gene Hackman’s death are continuing to get more convoluted.

No foul play was originally reported.

They are not ruling out foul play.

If we can get a trusted resource to perform the autopsy, that will clear up some things. Time of death for Hackman, his wife and their dog.

Both he and his wife appear to have collapsed

. Did they get some bad food? (Dead dog but two others survived)

Carbon poisoning gas leak has been ruled out.

Did gene have a heart attack and collapse. Wife didn’t want to be without him so she ate some pills to take her own life? She then spilled them on the floor or counter depending on report you read…. Also, a space heater was knocked over? Did German Shepherd eat some pills too?

Bodies have been sitting for several weeks. no contact from gene’s children during that time? These people were loaded with a huge property. Gene was also very elderly. Wife was still pretty young and primary caregiver? There’s usually many “service” people that come in and out of the home. Some doing the yard cleaning the house whatever? Nobody came by the house that entire time they were dead? No food deliveries or packages delivered during that time.?

They were actually found yesterday (Wednesday ) when the investigation started they didn’t release information until last night very late. Most reporting came out today. Every single source seems to have a different story with convoluted information.

n an apparent attempt to appease U.S. officials who have been pushing for tariffs and punitive measures against Mexico for their alleged role in protecting drug cartels, that country’s authorities confirmed the extradition of 29 criminals wanted by the U.S. Department of Justice. These include a top drug boss behind the 1985 murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, the two supreme leaders of Los Zetas Cartel, and the brother of the supreme leader of Cartel Jalisco New Generation.

On Thursday afternoon, Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office confirmed the extradition of 29 wanted criminals who were all in custody in various prisons across Mexico. The confirmation of the extradition came at the same time that Mexico’s security cabinet was meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his staff over that country’s response to drug cartels.
