It feels like the wheels are coming off the wagon as we inch closer to President Trump’s inauguration day.Is the Deep State going completely rogue?There have been two back-to-back terror attacks involving former and current members of the US military that have sparked the million-dollar question:Who is radicalizing these men?

Thankfully, Elon Musk, whose Tesla Cybertruck was used in the Vegas attack, has been all over this issue and is sharing some much-needed updates, which we’ll get to shortly.

The terror attack in NOLA shocked the nation when a black Muslim man drove his truck into a crowd and then opened fire on folks ringing in the New Year. Right after, a current member of the military tried to blow up Trump Tower in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thankfully, he failed, and the only person that died was the so-called terrorist. And the reason we say “so-called” is because there’s a lot of confusing questions surrounding his role in the explosion.

OK! Magazine:

• A U.S. Army soldier, identified as 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, allegedly detonated a Tesla Cybertruck explosion in front of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, causing injuries to seven individuals.

• Matthew’s uncle, Dean Livelsberger, claimed his nephew was a fervent supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and a proud member of the armed forces.

• Dean described his nephew as a “super soldier” with a deep love for his country and a strong admiration for the MAGA movement.

• Matthew, a Green Beret with a notable military career, had dedicated years to serving in the Special Forces.

• “He used to have all patriotic stuff on Facebook, he was 100 percent loving the country,” Dean told outlets. “He loved Trump, and he was always a very, very patriotic soldier, a patriotic American. It’s one of the reasons he was in Special Forces for so many years. It wasn’t just one tour of duty.”

• The uncle also had serious questions about the equipment Matthew allegedly used to make the truck explode, which included rudimentary fireworks and camping fuels.

• “Matt was a very skilled warrior, and he would be able to make — if it was him, and if he did this — he would’ve been able to make a more sophisticated explosive than using propane tanks and camping fuel. He was what you might call a ‘super soldier.’ If you ever read about the things he was awarded and the experience he had, some of it doesn’t make sense when he had the skills and ability to make something more, let’s say, ‘efficient.’ His skills were enormous from what he had been taught in the military.”

A lot of folks are saying that something about this story doesn’t add up. Was he set up?Or was he deeply radicalized by someone—or maybe even a group? There are so many unanswered questions surrounding this attack. ==There’s definitely some strange things afoot.

The good news, as we stated earlier, is that Elon and his Tesla team have been all over this story, investigating and sharing their findings. And Las Vegas police appreciate it. They’ve had nothing but praise for Elon, proving once again that the FBI is virtually useless.

“I have to thank Elon Musk specifically. He gave us quite a bit of additional information in regards to how the vehicle was locked after it exploded.. as well as being able to capture all the video from the Tesla charging stations across the country.”

Elon and Tesla are providing EXPONENTIALLY more assistance than the FBI at this point.

Elon and his team did all the testing and were able to clarify that the explosion had nothing to do with the truck itself—it was entirely the bomb device.

The good news, according to Elon, is that this attack could have been much worse if the attacker hadn’t used a Tesla Cybertruck. Ironically, the truck contained the explosion, likely saving lives and preventing significant damage. As Elon mentions below, not even the glass lobby doors were shattered.

Pretty impressive craftsmanship.

Thankfully, we have Elon and his team digging into this issue—because God only knows what kind of bizarre story the FBI would try to sell us. Let’s not forget that they claimed the NOLA terror attack wasn’t even a “terror attack,” so we know they can’t be trusted.

That said, this mysterious Vegas attack isn’t as cut-and-dry as it seems. There could be much more to this story, and with “all hands on deck”—and the media and FBI relegated to their rightful place as disgraced castaways—maybe we’ll finally uncover some truth.

This notion that Dems will try and block Trump’s presidency is pure wishful thinking. Anyone who tries that is signing their own political suicide note. After all, this fake “change of heart” comes on the heels of the 2024 election, where President Trump trounced Kamala Harris, won the popular vote, and secured a clear mandate from the American people to upend our broken system. So, it’s no surprise that rats like Adam Schiff are suddenly falling in line and jumping off the sinking Dem ship.

The U.S. government needs to disclose the history of this—how we are employing it, how we are weaponizing it, how China is employing it, and the way forward. China is poised to attack anywhere on the East Coast.

I have been followed for over a week now, likely by Homeland Security or the FBI. They are looking to move on me but are unlikely to let me cross into Mexico. However, they won’t act because they know I am armed and have a massive VBIED (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device).

I have kept my phone on to maintain a visible profile, and they are definitely digitally tracking me.

I have knowledge of this program and also of war crimes that were covered up during airstrikes in Nimruz Province, Afghanistan, in 2019 by the administration, OD, DEA, and CIA. I conducted targeting for these strikes. Of over 125 buildings, 65 were struck, resulting in civilian casualties (CIVCAS) that killed hundreds of civilians in a single day.

In a feeble and laughable attempt to paint Liz Cheney as some kind of hero, Joe Biden ran cover by handing her a phony award—the second-highest civilian honor in the nation—for her (criminal) work on the sham J6 Committee.

Let’s not forget, this is a woman who should be in prison for the lies and shady dealings she unleashed in her obsessive effort to destroy President Trump. But in today’s upside-down America, we don’t lock up the bad guys—we hand them awards. And,of course, this phony honor comes right on the heels of Cheney being referred for a criminal investigation for witness tampering.Perfect timing, right?

But it’s no surprise, really. After all, this is what the left does: they legitimize frauds and protect crooks with smoke and mirrors. United States President Joe Biden on Thursday awarded a former Republican congresswoman, Liz Cheney, with a citizens service medal.

Cheney, who’s a fierce critic of President-elect Donald Trump, bagged the award after the incoming president warned she “could be in a lot of trouble” once he takes office.

The ex-lawmaker from Wyoming, along with 19 other prominent figures, was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal “for putting the American people over party,” an announcer said during a White House ceremony before Biden handed her the award.

Other recipients of the medal— the second-highest civilian award granted by the US Government — included former US senator Chris Dodd, ex-congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy and current lawmaker Bennie Thompson, who chaired the House committee that investigated Trump’s role in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

However, the ceremony didn’t go well—actually,it was downright bizarre. The whole thing felt completely staged and awkward. At one point, you can see Joe Biden clutching Cheney’s hand, awkwardly jerking it toward him as she tries to pull away, eventually rolling her eyes.

NEW YORK (AP) — In an extraordinary turn, a judge Friday set President-elect Donald Trump's sentencing in his hush money case for Jan. 10 — little over a week before he's due to return to the White House — but indicated he wouldn't be jailed.

The development nevertheless leaves Trump on course to be the first president to take office convicted of felony crimes.

Judge Juan M. Merchan, who presided over Trump’s trial, signaled in a written decision that he'd sentence the former and future president to what's known as a conditional discharge, in which a case is closed without jail time, a fine or probation.

Merchan rejected Trump’s push to dismiss the verdict and throw out the case on presidential immunity grounds and because of his impending return to the White House. The judge said he found “no legal impediment to sentencing” Trump and that it was “incumbent” on him to sentence Trump prior to his swearing in on Jan. 20.

“Only by bringing finality to this matter” will the interests of justice be served, Merchan wrote.

Trump was convicted in May of 34 counts of falsifying business records. They involved an alleged scheme to hide a hush money payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels in the last weeks of Trump’s first campaign in 2016. The payout was made to keep her from publicizing claims she’d had sex with the married Trump years earlier. He says that her story is false and that he did nothing wrong.

After Trump’s Nov. 5 election, Merchan halted proceedings and indefinitely postponed the sentencing so the defense and prosecution could weigh in on the future of the case. Trump’s lawyers urged Merchan to toss it. They said it would otherwise pose unconstitutional “disruptions” to the incoming president’s ability to run the country.

Prosecutors acknowledged there should be some accommodation for his upcoming presidency, but they insisted the conviction should stand.They suggested various options, such as freezing the case during his term or guaranteeing him a no-jail sentence. They also proposed closing the case while formally noting both his conviction and his undecided appeal — a novel idea drawn from what some state courts do when criminal defendants die while appealing their cases.

Merchan ruled that Trump’s current status as president-elect does not afford him the same kind of immunity granted to a sitting presidentand does not require that the verdict be set aside and the case dismissed - a notion the judge described as “drastic” and “rare.”

Doing that “would undermine the Rule of Law in immeasurable ways," Merchan wrote. He opined that it wouldn't address the Supreme Court's concerns about presidential immunity, either.

Trump takes office Jan. 20 as the first former president to be convicted of a crime and the first convicted criminal to be elected to the office.

His conviction left the 78-year-old facing the possibility of punishment ranging from a fine or probation to up to four years in prison. The case centered on how Trump accounted for reimbursing his personal attorney for the Daniels payment.

The lawyer, Michael Cohen, fronted the money. He later recouped it through a series of payments that Trump’s company logged as legal expenses. Trump, by then in the White House, signed most of the checks himself.

Prosecutors said the designation was meant to cloak the true purpose of the payments and help cover up a broader effort to keep voters from hearing unflattering claims about the Republican during his first campaign. Trump said that Cohen was legitimately paid for legal services, and that Daniels’ story was suppressed to avoid embarrassing Trump’s family, not to influence the electorate.

Trump was a private citizen — campaigning for president, but neither elected nor sworn in — when Cohen paid Daniels in October 2016. He was president when Cohen was reimbursed, and Cohen testified that they discussed the repayment arrangement in the Oval Office. Trump, a Republican, has decried the verdict as the “rigged, disgraceful” result of a “witch hunt” pursued by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat.

Before Trump’s November election, his lawyers sought to reverse his conviction for a different reason: a U.S. Supreme Court decision in July that gave presidents broad immunity from criminal prosecution. That request was still pending when the election raised new issues. While urging Merchan to nix the conviction, Trump also sought to move the case to federal court, where he could also assert immunity. A federal judge repeatedly said no, but Trump appealed.

Oakland Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick has declined to reconsider her controversial decision to promote two high-ranking officers who mishandled the department’s internal investigation of the Celeste Guap sex-crimes scandal, despite requests by civil-rights attorneys John Burris and Jim Chanin that they and others face disciplinary action.

But there’s one powerful person who could immediately block the promotions and take other steps to hold officers accountable — but has yet to do so. Robert Warshaw, former chief of police in Rochester, New York, has been Oakland’s court-appointed police monitor since 2013. He also holds the title of compliance director, and has expansive powers over the department.

Under a 2012 order by Judge Thelton Henderson, Warshaw has the authority to direct the city to deny promotions, alter assignments, and make other personnel changes if he believes they’re necessary to ensure reforms take root.

He can also discipline or demote the department’s deputy chiefs and assistant police chief if they’re responsible for violating policy, or if they refuse to implement the terms of the court-ordered reform program.

He can even fire the police chief.

But so far, Warshaw hasn’t taken any meaningful action on the mishandling of the Guap investigation.

“What role Warshaw is playing here is mysterious to me,” said Rashidah Grinage, a member of the Coalition for Police Accountability, which successfully pushed for the creation of Oakland’s new citizens police commission.

The promotions, which were announced in early May, included the elevation of Deputy Chief John Lois to the rank of assistant police chief, and Lt. Roland Holmgren to the rank of captain in charge of the criminal-investigation division.

In 2015, Lois and Holmgren directly oversaw the brief criminal investigation of several cops accused of raping and exploiting Guap when she was a teenager.

Attorneys Edward Swanson and Audrey Barron investigated OPD’s mishandling of the Guap case for Henderson and found the department’s actions “wholly inadequate.” The attorneys pointed out violations of the negotiated-settlement agreement, as well as questionable decisions made by Lois, Holmgren, and Capt. Kirk Coleman that resulted in the case’s premature closure. The officers also failed to notify other city officials, including Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, about the allegations.

Kirkpatrick also appears to have no intention to remove Coleman from his position as head of internal affairs. Swanson and Barron found that, when Coleman led the criminal-investigation division in 2015, he violated the negotiated-settlement agreement by not notifying the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office of suspected crimes by OPD officers.

If Warshaw wanted to, he could immediately suspend Lois, or demote him back to the rank of deputy chief.

Under the terms of a 2012 order issued by Henderson, Warshaw also has the power to “direct specific actions by the City or OPD,” in matters concerning promotions and assignments of officers like Holmgren and Coleman.

Swanson and Barron’s report was released in June, after Kirkpatrick announced the promotions, which were approved by Warshaw. It appears that neither Kirkpatrick nor Warshaw knew about Lois, Holmgren, Coleman, and other senior officers’ failures before Kirkpatrick announced their promotions. Swanson and Barron reported directly to Henderson — not Warshaw.

There is precedent for the compliance director asserting such power over the police department. In 2013, the East Bay Times and the Express reported that OPD Chief Howard Jordan resigned after learning that Thomas Frazier, Warshaw’s predecessor as compliance director, intended to fire him. Frazier had issued scathing reports about OPD command staff’s inability to discipline officers, particularly the widespread use of excessive force during Occupy Oakland.

Inside a federal courtroom this afternoon, the City of Oakland’s mayor and police chief reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a culture of accountability within the city’s troubled department. But after the hearing, Chief Anne Kirkpatrick told reporters that the commanders who mishandled last year’s internal sex-crimes investigation would still be receiving promotions.

In fact, when asked directly by the Express whether John Lois and Roland Holmgren would still be promoted, Kirkpatrick justified the move, saying that federal-court monitor Robert Warshaw himself signed off on the decision.

“When I made my selections, I did counsel with the federal monitor, and he indicated he was very pleased,” Kirkpatrick said.

Although Warshaw approved the promotions of Lois and Holmgren to the ranks of assistant chief and captain, respectively, it’s impossible that he knew of Lois and Holmgren’s role in the mishandling of the Guap case: When their promotions were announced on May 1, the court’s special investigation into the case wasn’t even completed yet, and its contents were a closely held secret until published on June 21. Not even Warshaw knew what was going to be in the report.

Warshaw didn’t return the Express’ phone call and text message seeking to discuss Kirkpatrick’s claim.

However, when asked this afternoon whether Warshaw was aware of attorneys Edward Swanson and Audrey Barron’s findings when he allegedly approved the promotions, Kirkpatrick responded that she was “sure the federal monitor has that information.”

The report, which was finally released last month, found that top OPD commanders and several higher-ranking officers prematurely closed the Celeste Guap case, and took other steps that were characterized as “wholly inadequate.”

The names of the officers involved in the cover-up were redacted in the report, but the Express independently identified and confirmed the individuals.

During the Guap case in 2015, Lois was deputy chief, overseeing the Bureau of Investigations, and Holmgren was the lieutenant overseeing the homicide division. Along with Capt. Kirk Coleman of the criminal-investigation division, they were the three most-senior personnel overseeing the sex-crime allegations. Their failings to sufficiently investigate officer wrongdoing were exhaustively documented in the Swanson-Barron report.

On May 2, Kirkpatrick announced the promotion of Lois to assistant chief, the second-highest post in the department. Holmgren was promoted to captain, overseeing the criminal-investigation division. And Coleman was transferred to internal affairs, where he now supervises all investigations of police misconduct.

Attorneys John Burris and Jim Chanin argued the case that led to the department’s court-oversight program. This afternoon, they told U.S. District Judge Thelton Henderson that they want to see every individual cited in the Swanson-Barron report disciplined.

“I was under the illusion that the sex scandal was largely confined to the officers who committed unlawful acts and Chief Whent,” Chanin said in his statement to the court. “I now see, sadly, that what happened here was an OPD and City of Oakland system failure that went way beyond Chief Whent and the officers who engaged in crimes.”

“It may well have permeated everyone associated with the case, especially many of OPD’s command staff,” Chanin stated.

After the hearing, Burris told reporters that, if the commanders who derailed the Guap investigation are not demoted and held accountable, the impact will ripple throughout the department. “It will send a bad message, and young officers will not have confidence in the leadership,” Burris said.

Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede announced a desire to obtain independence from Denmark in the wake of President-elect Trump’s comments about buying the island territory.

“The Greenlandic people’s opportunity for independence has been adopted through the provisions of the Self-Government Act, thereby creating a legal basis for how independence can be achieved,” Egede said in a Wednesday speech in honor of the new year.

“A draft constitution for our country has also been prepared,” he said. “Work has already begun with regard to creating the framework for Greenland as an independent state within the possibilities and provisions of the Self-Government Act.”

The leader said a new development for Greenland is “imminent” days after Trump took a second pass at purchasing the land, which sits in the prominent Arctic region.

“For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” Trump said in a Dec. 22 Truth Social post.

Egede hit back in a statement, declaring Greenland was not for sale and would undertake every effort to not be acquired by the U.S.

“Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom,” Egede said.

His New Year’s Day speech emphasized the autonomous territory’s developments, highlighting its opening of an international airport as a global pathway to change.

“In the coming summer, it will now be possible to reach us directly from other countries, without first traveling via Denmark, it will therefore be possible for us to develop and govern our country more independently,” he added.

He declared that new airports in Ilulissat and Qaqortoq were the next step in a process for an “improved” and “flexible” infrastructure that could bolster tourism and trade.

Egede concluded his speech with well wishes for a prosperous new year.

Mike Johnson wins speakership with shaky GOP alliance

The narrowly divided House has adopted a rules package, with a vote of 215-209, that most notably will see a significantly raised threshold for members to trigger an effort to oust the speaker.

Under the section-by-section analysis of the rules, it would now take nine members of the Republican conference to trigger a motion to vacate the speakership, a threshold that was just a single member when the GOP opted to oust then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy last Congress.

The package’s adoption was not without its GOP critics: Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) previously objected to the inclusion of language that would consider a bill to impose sanctions over any International Criminal Court action against people like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“How did a bill to protect Netanyahu make it into the House rules package to be voted on immediately after the speaker vote?” Massie asked on social media. “Where are our priorities?!"

The decision to raise the threshold for ousting a speaker was first reported by POLITICO last fall.

Among the other changes in the rules package is language that would limit votes on suspensions measures — an expedited process requiring two-thirds support for passage — to just Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. House lawmakers have recently used that procedure on days later in the week, like Friday, to pass a short-term government funding bill.

The House Freedom Caucus pushed for the inclusion of the suspension calendar change, according to one GOP lawmaker granted anonymity to discuss negotiations.

Rare trove of ancient coins found in Israel

A rare collection of ancient coins was discovered last week by Israeli researchers, who called the find an "archaeological Hanukkah miracle."

The coins are more than 2,000 years old and believed to belong to King Alexander Jannaeus, the second ruler of the Hasmonean dynasty that presided over Judea in the final centuries leading up to the common era, according to the University of Haifa in Israel.

Archaeologists found the hoard of about 160 of the coins during ongoing excavations in the Jordan Valley, which runs between the Israeli-occupied West Bank and the eastern border of Jordan. The project is headed by researchers at the University of Haifa and the Zinman Institute of Archaeology, the university said in a news release translated from Hebrew.

The ancient coins were unearthed Friday, coinciding with the third day of Hanukkah. Researchers noted the significance of that timing, since Alexander Jannaeus descended from leaders of a revolt in 167 B.C.E. that the Talmud says led to the restoration of the temple in Jerusalem and the first celebration of the Hanukkah holiday.

Each coin bears inscriptions that include an eight-pointed star and the phrase "King Alexander 25" written in Aramaic, one of the world's oldest known languages that originated in the region around what's now Syria and is closely related to both Arabic and Hebrew. These types of coins date back to about 80 B.C.E., according to the University of Haifa.

"The site where the treasure was discovered is, apparently, a way station, which had not been recognized in research until now," said Shai Bar, one of the leaders of the excavation, in a statement to the university. Bar said the station included a purification bath, used for religious ritual, and a water storage area in addition to other buildings. It's located along a main road leading to the Alexandrion fortress, built atop a mountain in the Jordan Valley by Alexander Jannaeus.

Bar told the university that students and volunteers were involved in the dig that uncovered the monarch's ancient coins. He said they were particularly excited to find the trove during Hanukkah.

"This added special meaning to the holiday for them, including in the difficult days our people are going through at the moment," Bar said. "I hope that the place will become a site that attracts a crowd, and will be added to the archaeological and heritage sites of our country."

Hanukkah began Dec. 25 this year and is observed over the course of eight days, ending this Thursday, Jan. 2.

A pair of Department of Homeland Security agents have been accused of using a confidential informant to sell illegal drugs that had been seized as evidence.

DHS special agents Nicholas Kindle and David Cole, who worked in Utah, will both face charges stemming from the alleged narcotics trafficking scheme. Cole was arrested three weeks ago after he was indicted by a grand jury in December.

Kindle was arrested this week.

Federal prosecutors allege that both Kindle and Cole abused their authority, using their access to illicit drugs seized in evidence in their scheme under the false pretense that the drugs would be used as part of legitimate investigations.

Kindle and Cole allegedly began the scheme in 2021. Prosecutors claim the pair also stole thousands of dollars of cash, a diamond ring, and an antique from Peru from law enforcement evidence lockups.

Between 2022 and 2024, the agents allegedly sold drugs known as “bath salts” to Homeland Security Investigations confidential sources for thousands of dollars and allowed those sources to resell the bath salts on the streets of Utah for a profit," according to prosecutors. The agents did not arrest the buyers who purchased the drugs.

“Bath salts” are illicit synthetic cathinones that produce a high and can be life-threatening.

The alleged operation brought in between $195,000 and $300,000, according to the FBI.

The FBI alleged that the special agents used an encrypted messaging app to direct their middlemen to meeting locations, including mundane spots like a Panera Bread and a Nike store.

The duo landed on the FBI's radar in October 2024 after a lawyer representing the criminal informant involved in the scheme contacted the U.S. Attorney's Office in Utah reporting that Kindle and Cole had forced him to engage in potentially unlawful acts, according to a Bureau affidavit.

Both Cole and Kindle face a felony drug distribution conspiracy charge, and Kindle will face an additional charge of conspiracy to convert property of the U.S. government for profit, according to CBS News.

A judge set Kindle’s initial court appearance for January 21 in Salt Lake City at a hearing on Thursday. If he is convicted, the special agents will face a maximum of 25 years in prison.

Kindle was charged via an information document issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which does not require grand jury approval to launch a criminal trial.

Both agents have had their credentials suspended, but they had not been fired at the time of this report.

Tragedy of 15-year-old Rochdale grooming gang victim who died after being injected with heroin: How Victoria Agoglia was repeatedly ignored

One of the tragic victims of the Rochdale grooming gang was a 15-year-old girl who was repeatedly raped and plied with drugs by predatory paedophiles before dying from a heroin overdose.

Victoria Agoglia was meant to be receiving round-the-clock 'solo' residential care, but went missing 19 times in three months for up to two weeks at a time. Instead of trying to find her, carers message her asking: 'When are you coming back?'

It transpired she was being used for sex by older men in exchange for cash, alcohol and hard drugs - sometimes being abused by up to 25 of them in a single night.

Dozens of young girls were targeted, abused and raped by gangs of mainly Asian men between 2004 and 2012 in Rochdale as officials stood by. Victoria herself wrote a heartbreaking letter to police documenting her abuse, but was ignored.

Her heartbreaking story is just one of many documented in a new report published yesterday which documents the struggle they faced to be believed. It has also identified 96 men who are still deemed a potential risk to children.

21 times in the space of two months, and on five occasions the police were asked to look for her.

She was raped and was known by her carers to be exploited for sex by older men in exchange for cash, alcohol and hard drugs.

A scribbled note written by Victoria, titled 'Things I've done in the past', was passed to cops by social services and documented the abuse she suffered at the age of 13.

She wrote how she 'slept with people older' than her - 'half of them I don't even know their names. I am a sl*g.'

She went on: 'I think it I did it just to impress the boys and they treated me like ****. All the things I lost for drugs. Boys, my family, I lost all of that.'

The letter was signed off 'age 13, 1989.'

Her tone showed how the schoolgirl was in desperate need of help by police. But the letter was never acted upon.

In September 2003, Victoria visited the home of a 50-year-old Asian man - Mohammed Yaqoob - who injected her with heroin.

She died in hospital five days later. He was later jailed for three and half years for injecting her with a noxious substance after being cleared of manslaughter.

Maggie Oliver, a former detective who resigned from Greater Manchester Police to go public with her views on grooming gangs, revealed the letter Victoria wrote was included in a police report which was never acted on.

Ms Oliver wrote the report, which even started with a picture of Victoria and her letter in a bid to highlight her case, after launching Operation Augusta in 2004 which set out to investigate the Rochdale child abuse ring.

But shockingly the investigation was quietly shelved by police bosses while Ms Oliver was on a three-month break.

It wasn't until eight years later that the beasts behind the operation which saw girls plied with alcohol and drugs before being used as sex slaves came to justice.

While the new report focused on events taking place from a year after Victoria's death, it concluded that lessons were not learned from her death or the resulting Operation Augusta, in which just two of almost 100 suspects were jailed.

That was despite an investigation into her death revealing 57 victims of grooming gangs, some as young as 12 years old.

One case highlighted by the report is that of Child 44, a teenage girl who had an abortion after being abused at the age of 13 in 2009.

It was revealed that Greater Manchester Police (GMP) secretly took the foetus and performed a DNA test on it to try and link it to possible suspects.

However, when no matches came up, it was left in a freezer at Rochdale police station and was only found when it was uncovered in a 'routine property review'.

The girl who had the abortion would only find out in 2011 that it had been taken by the police, with the moment she found out emotionally being reenacted in the BBC drama 'Three Girls'.

She told the authors of the 173-page report that police had 'robbed' her of her unborn child and said it was 'disgusting' police had done so without her consent.

In the meantime she had continued to be abused by a grooming gang and at one point was even at risk of being taken to Pakistan by them.

A trial involving the men who abused her eventually took place in 2012, but the girl would find out in the lead-up to this that the man who got her pregnant was not to be charged with her rape.

He was instead jailed for eight years for conspiracy and trafficking for sexual exploitation, allowing him to be released four years into his sentence, reports the Guardian.

Things got worse for Child 44, as she reported being threatened by a man with a gun before the trial and being harassed and abused on the street by supporters of the men who raped and abused her.

The girl, who even bumped into her abuser in a supermarket after he was released from prison without her being informed, said police told her to just 'lock your door' when she asked for help about the harassment.

Another girl who also gave evidence against her abusers reported that her house was 'trashed, with slag and grass written across the wall', while her shed was burned down and chickens killed in a campaign of harassment.

The damning dossier also claims that no action was taken against a 'pimp' who got a 15-year-old girl pregnant, while another child claimed she was kept locked in cages and made to act like a dog or baby, with again, no action being taken against the men allegedly involved.

The report is the third of four written by child protection specialist Malcolm Newsam CBE and former senior police officer Gary Ridgway – and saw apologies this morning from Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Council.

The authors previously led a review of Operation Augusta, an investigation into grooming gangs in South Manchester, which was published in 2020, and the review into child safeguarding practices in Oldham, published in 2022.

It followed criticism of failings within Rochdale Council and Greater Manchester Police aired in BBC documentary, Betrayed Girls.

The report considered claims by Sara Rowbotham, co-ordinator of a young people's Crisis Intervention Team, and Maggie Oliver, former Detective Constable involved with the first large-scale investigation into grooming in Rochdale, Operation Span, launched in 2010.

It found that the pair of 'lone voices' had flagged clear evidence of 'prolific serial rape of countless children in Rochdale' but that this was not acted upon, with the children's unwillingness to make a formal complaint repeatedly used as an excuse for not investigating.

Mr Newsam, lead author, said: 'GMP and Rochdale Council failed to prioritise the protection of children who were being sexually exploited by a significant number of men within the Rochdale area.

'This review was initiated following the serious allegations made by both Maggie Oliver and Sara Rowbotham and we have found through this review their allegations to be substantiated.

'Both GMP and Rochdale Council failed to respond appropriately to these concerns.

'Successive police operations were launched over this period, but these were insufficiently resourced to match the scale of the widespread organised exploitation.

'Consequently, children were left at risk and many of their abusers to this day have not been apprehended.'

Mr Newsam and Mr Ridgway said: 'CSE continued to be treated as a low priority and under-resourced by GMP.'

By October 2012, a review group chaired by GMP identified 127 potential victims whose cases had not been acted on – a figure which later grew to 260 potential victims.

After Operation Span, three more investigations - Operation Routh, Operation Doublet and Operation Lytton - saw 30 men convicted, many of whom received lengthy sentences.

Files held by officials for 111 children revealed 'a significant probability that 74 of these children were being sexually exploited at that time, and in 48 of those cases, there were serious failures to protect the child', the report revealed.

A fourth review is still to take place by Mr Newsam and Mr Ridgway, which is to 'consider current practice across Greater Manchester to address the risk of child sexual exploitation' and recent police investigations.

Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham called the report 'a detailed and distressing account of how many young people were so seriously failed'.

He added: 'That said, it fulfils the purpose of why I set up this review in the first place.

'It is only by facing up fully and unflinchingly to what happened that we can be sure of bringing the whole system culture change needed when it comes to protecting children from abuse.'

He apologised to the victims and said: 'We are sorry that you were so badly failed by the system that should have protected them.

'I have asked Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Council to ensure that every possible action is taken to follow up any leads arising from this report and to pursue any potential perpetrators.'

A series of initiatives have taken place around Rochdale since 2012, including better engagement with potential victims and a scheme encouraging hotel owners and taxi firms to report concerns.

Last year, an Ofsted report regarding Rochdale Council - including the Complex Safeguarding Hub - was published and confirmed that 'children at risk receive an effective response'.

Rochdale Council leader Councillor Neil Emmott said the authority is 'deeply sorry' for the 'very serious failures that affected the lives of children in our borough' and how officials 'failed to take the necessary action'.

And Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Stephen Watson said: 'It remains to be a matter of profound regret that victims of child sexual exploitation in Rochdale in the early 2000s were failed by Greater Manchester Police – to them, I apologise.

'I also recognise the plight of Maggie Oliver and Sara Rowbotham - who advocated for victims and survivors when no one else did, and ultimately enabled the review and publication of this report.'

He added: 'Since nine men were convicted following Operation Span in 2012, there have been a further 135 arrests, 432 charges, and 32 convictions (for child sex grooming).'

Ms Oliver, who resigned from Greater Manchester Police in 2012 to publicly reveal the extent of the police failings about child sexual exploitation, said she remained 'angry' that 'not one senior officer or official has ever been held individually responsible for these failures, lies and cover ups'.

She said the report 'confirms the truth of what I have been saying for over 12 years'.

Drawing a parallel with the ongoing Horizon scandal at the Post Office, she added: 'There are so many parallels between that case and this: 'ordinary' people being criminalised and silenced, institutional cover ups and corruption in an effort to protect the brand whatever the cost to affected individuals, refusal to acknowledge any wrongdoing.'

She added: 'I am also not assured that lessons have been learned. I can absolutely, categorically say that through our work today at The Maggie Oliver Foundation (a support group she founded), we see on a daily basis that victims and survivors of sexual offences are still routinely treated badly or even inhumanely, still not believed, still judged, still dismissed when they report these horrendous crimes.'

Ms Oliver said her two-decade battle to expose the truth 'has almost ruined my life'.

She claimed Chief Constable Watson's remarks had been prepared by a PR department which 'pretends that these are failures of the past'.

But she insisted: 'The failures that happened then are still happening now.'

Mrs Oliver, who now runs a charity bearing her name supporting survivors of child abuse, added: 'I would like to say today that things are a million times better.

'But if I went to every one of the victims and survivors that approach the Maggie Oliver Foundation every day to say 'Are things different?' they would tell you 'No they are not'.

''There are still far too many victims who are not being heard, who are being criminalised, who are being intimidated, who are being silenced when they dare to raise their head above the parapet.

'Victims are being let down on a daily basis.'

She called for more resources to be put into investigating and prosecuting grooming gangs across the UK as well as tougher sentences.

Timeline of the Rochdale grooming gang scandals

2008 - A 15-year-old girl reports to police she has been raped repeatedly by a gang of men, and gives details of the abuse taking place above a takeaway in Rochdale. Police arrest two members of a grooming gang - ringleader Shabir Ahmed and Kabeer Hassan.

2009 - Police find evidence that Ahmed had sex with the girl, with the older man claiming she could have swapped underwear with a different young girl he had already admitted to having sex with. Later that year a Crown Prosecution Service lawyer rules that the victim's evidence is 'not credible' and decides the accused should be released without charge.

2010 - Operation Span, a new operation looking into allegations of grooming gangs in Rochdale, is launched with DC Maggie Oliver involved.

2011 - Chief prosecutor for the CPS North West, Nazir Afzal, reverses this decision and authorises charges against the pair.

2012 - His decision is vindicated when Ahmed – then 59 - and eight other men were jailed for a total of 77 years for raping and abusing up to 47 girls aged as young as 13. This sparks apologies from the police, council and CPS for failures that allowed the men to continue abusing girls for an additional two years.

2013 - Maggie Oliver resigns from Greater Manchester Police, claiming that evidence was ignored that could have convicted men who weren't part of the nine jailed the year before.

2016 - A second group of men are sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for sexual abuse after a victim, encouraged by previous convictions, comes forward with her ordeal.

2017 - A BBC documentary titled The Betrayed Girls features whistleblowers Ms Oliver and Sara Rowbothan, who ran an NHS sexual health clinic in Rochdale, with claims about grooming gangs. Both alleged that multiple known abusers were left free to prey on a generation of girls, with grooming culture embedded in parts of the town. The same year Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, orders a series of reports into how victims were protected up to 2013.

2023 - Five men are given sentences totalling more than 70 years after being found guilty of abusing two girls between 2002 and 2006.

2024 - The third of four reports into grooming gangs - and the first to focus on Rochdale - is released and points the finger at police and council bosses for failing to protect girls from their abusers.

An orca who made headlines for mourning her dead calf in a unique two-week “tour of grief” is responding to her latest deceased newborn in the same way, a heart-wrenching photo shows.

Tahlequah, the killer whale also known as J35, was seen carrying the newborn on her back Wednesday through Washington state’s Puget Sound, just as she did seven years ago, according to the Center for Whale Research.

Scientists saw the grieving mother with the dead calf draped on top of her head and said that she appeared to dive for it when it sank from the surface, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.

The baby, J61, an endangered Southern Resident killer whale, only lived about a week and has been dead for several days, according to officials.

It marks the second loss out of four births for Tahlequah, who is approximately 25 years old.

Other Southern Resident orcas have been seen carrying dead calves but not for as long as Tahlequah did. In 2018, she carried her calf’s body with her for 17 days.

“It’s interesting that it’s the same whale doing this behavior again,” Dr. Michael Weiss, research director at the Center for Whale Research, told CBS News.

“It does seem to suggest that there’s something about her as an individual that makes this behavior more prominent,” he added. “We don’t know what that would be.”

In 2018, researchers observed Tahlequah carrying her dead calf for 17 days and more than 1,000 miles.

Scientists at the center continue to conduct follow-up observations of Tahlequah, who is now unable to forage for food as she focuses her energy on carrying the approximately 300-pound carcass.

Other whales in her pod, including her sister, have been staying by her side following the death, scientists said at a press conference on Thursday. The pack lives in the waters off Washington and British Columbia, Canada.

“Early life is always dangerous for new calves, with a very high mortality rate in the first year,” the center posted before J61’s death. “J35 is an experienced mother, and we hope that she is able to keep J61 alive through these difficult early days.”

Scientists are unsure what caused the female calf’s death but believe it was born prematurely. About 50% of orca babies die within a year.

The population of southern resident killer whales has struggled for decades, with only 73 remaining, according to experts.

“The death of any calf in the [Southern Resident killer whales] population is a tremendous loss, but the death of J61 is particularly devastating, not just because she was a female, who could have one day potentially led her own matriline but also given the history of her mother J35 who has now lost two out of four documented calves — both of which were female,” the center wrote in a Facebook post.

There are just 73 endangered Southern Resident killer whales, according to the center.

The new year brought “extreme highs and lows,” the Washington-based group, which focuses on the study and conservation of the Southern Resident orcas, said in its post.

Along with the confirmation of J61’s death, it announced the news of another birth in the pod.

The baby’s sex and mother are not yet known but researchers said it appears “physically and behaviorally normal.”

Washington State Democrats accidentally leaked their radical tax plan to the entire upper chamber in Olympia on Thursday.

According to Seattle-based radio host Jason Rantz,Washington state Democrats accidentally emailed their radical tax plan to the entire senate.

The tax plan, which includes major property tax hikes and a new 11% tax on firearms, directly contradicts the state Democrats’ campaign promises, Jason Rantz said.

ashington state Democrats appeared to have accidentally emailed their sweeping revenue plans and internal talking points on tax hikes to the entirety of the upper chamber’s members in Olympia, Fox News has learned.

Property tax hikes and a new double-digit tax on firearms are among proposals Washington state Democrats are considering, according to materials originally disseminated to all members by Washington Senate Deputy Floor Leader Noel Frame, D-Seattle, in late December and later obtained by Fox News Digital.

A document titled “2025 Revenue Options” and a PowerPoint presentation describing how to talk to constituents in defense of the plan were included in the messages.

The document lists proposed figures for an 11% tax on ammunition and firearms, reclassifying storage unit rentals as a retail transaction and a lift on the property tax levy lid for certain Washingtonians.

A PowerPoint slide, highlighted by Seattle radio host Jason Rantz, described the “Best way to talk taxes” — with a chart of do’s and don’ts for lawmakers.

MSNBC has an ongoing ratings problem and host Lawrence O’Donnell is clearly doing everything he can to make sure it stays that way. During a recent rant on his little-watched program, O’Donnell singled out U.S. veterans, specifically from the Army, as a greater terror threat than the people illegally crossing the southern border. A former CIA officer recently said that more than a thousand al-Qaeda operatives have likely crossed the open border and are now in the United States just waiting to strike but apparently, O’Donnell hasn’t heard that report. MSNBC should be ashamed for airing this.

OPT has no caps, gives employers payroll tax deductions up to $12,000 per worker, and has no wage requirements. The Supreme Court recently told jails across the country to adhere to laws outlawing millenia-old discrimination, yet this is easier said than done

Mridul Kumar (22, name changed), a resident of Banda in north India’s populous state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), was jailed in 2018 for assaulting a neighbor who eventually died in the hospital. He was handed a jail sentence of four years.

Mridul is a dalit. Dalits are lowest in the Hindu caste hierarchy (indeed, they are technically below the pyramid and thus were known as ‘outcasts’) and have faced discrimination for millennia. Several steps have been taken to end this discrimination, yet it persists in India.

Recounting his ordeal after his acquittal in May, the first thing that shocked him as he entered jail was the work distribution by jail authorities on the basis of caste. Mridul used to sell egg rolls on a cart in his hometown and assumed he would be assigned a role in the kitchen. To his shock he was asked his caste by the lower jail authorities and directed to clean the drains.

“I protested, I tried talking to authorities to assign me cutting and chopping work but they did not listen to me. I was asked to clean the drains,” Mridul said of his experience inside the prison.

The UP jail manual clearly mentions that “religious scruples and caste prejudices” are important for “reformative influences.” A separate chapter says: “Reasonable respect shall be paid to religious scruples and caste prejudices of the prisoners in all matters as far as it is compatible with discipline.”

The prison administration holds sole discretionary power over the extent of the “reasonability and compatibility” of these prejudices. The “reasonability,” though, has only meant furthering blatant caste prejudice in assigning work to dalits while exempting other castes from harsh labor, both in male and female prisons.

In July 2020, Mridul raised this with the deputy jail superintendent who took note and assigned him to utensils-cleaning duty and also as a helper to inmates on cooking duty. Yet these inmates protested, as he was a scheduled caste (SC). The disheartened Mridul was assigned to gardening, of which he had no experience.

On 3 October 2024, a Division Bench of then Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justices J.B. Pardiwala and Manoj Misra delivered a judgement directing the federal government and states to revise their prison manuals and rules to address caste-based discrimination in prisons. It noted that existing manuals and rules as they stood violated Articles 14, 15, 17, 21, and 23.

The decision came on a writ petition filed by journalist Sukanya Santha in 2023 after she revealed the widespread prevalence of caste-based discrimination in Indian prisons through an investigative story she published in 2020. Sukanya could not be reached for comment.

Indian Police Service (IPS) senior officer Manoj Kumar, currently posted in Ratlam (in central India’s Madhya Pradesh, MP), once managed the jail there, and he says that the problem is so deeply ingrained in our society that even after this judgement, solving it remains a distant goal.

“I remember a dalit inmate was once assigned to serve food, but this was so loudly protested by other inmates, including those who cooked food, that over 50% of them did not eat food that day,” the police officer said. “Some even refused to eat in plates touched by this person, and to contain the situation the authorities had to put this dalit inmate on another duty.”

The MP Jail Manual, despite recent amendments, perpetuates caste discrimination by mandating that Mehtar (scavenger) prisoners handle human excreta in prison toilets under its mal vahan (conservancy) chapter. This effectively institutionalizes manual scavenging within the prison system.

Discrimination in getting justice

The National Crime Records Bureau, responsible for collecting and analyzing crime data, in 2020 reported that a majority of India’s undertrials are from marginalized castes. In the 17 years to 2019, nearly two in three (64%) on average were from the SCs (21.7%), scheduled tribes (12.3%) and other backward classes (OBCs, 30%).

“Individuals belonging to marginalised communities are disproportionately impacted from these unwarranted detentions. Other factors such as limited access to legal assistance and difficulties in meeting bail conditions contribute to the heightened likelihood of underprivileged individuals spending time in prison without being convicted,” noted a study published in 2024.

Retired Intelligence Officer Sam Shoemate Received “EMAIL MANIFESTO” Allegedly Linked to Tesla Cybertruck Explosion Suspect Matthew Livelsberger — Claims FBI Was Tracking Him for Attempting to be a Whistleblower

A shocking incident unfolded at the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day when a cybertruck exploded at the property.

As federal authorities scramble to piece together the details, an alleged email from Master Sgt. Matthew Livelsberger, a U.S. Army Green Beret, has brought the incident into sharper focus.

The email, purportedly sent just days before the explosion, claims to expose hidden military operations and warns of escalating threats to national security.

Livelsberger revealed on the email that the FBI was tracking him for attempting to be a whistleblower.

“I knew taking this public would insert me into the “glowy boi” conspiracy cycle, especially since I’m an intelligence officer,” Sam Shoemate, an intelligence officer and Chief Warrant Officer 2 (US Army, retired), wrote on X.

He added, “I had no choice. Dude dumped it in my inbox. When I saw his name in the news, I had little choice but to hand it over to the feds. I knew the FBI wouldn’t release it, or at least without an agenda attached, so I took it to Shawn Ryan because he has the platform to handle the magnitude of this information and will do so as objectively as possible.”

According to Shoemate, he informed the FBI on the release, stating, “I told them I was taking it to the show. I’m a private citizen. They immediately contacted Army CID who took it up the chain. Big Army contacted Shawn Ryan last night along with a bunch of other folks requesting names be redacted. He had no idea how they knew until I told him this morning I told the FBI I was going on his show. It’s all addressed in the show when it releases.”

The email contained ominous statements about imminent danger, references to advanced military technology, and allegations of government cover-ups related to war crimes.

According to Shoemate, Livelsberger’s email mentioned “gravitic propulsion systems” and claimed that both the U.S. and China had been covertly deploying this technology.

A “gravitic propulsion system” refers to a hypothetical propulsion technology that would use the force of gravity to propel a spacecraft or vehicle, essentially manipulating gravitational fields to achieve movement without the need for traditional propellant, considered a highly theoretical concept with no proven working technology currently available.

The email further alleged misconduct during a 2019 U.S. military operation in Afghanistan, where civilian casualties were reportedly downplayed or covered up.

“I don’t know what that is, but I checked his credentials on LinkedIn. That was the first thing I did—I went to his LinkedIn page. The first thing I noticed was that all of his bona fides were in place. He has all the UAS training from the use of SOC and everything else. So, I said, ‘Okay, at least the guy knows what he’s talking about with drones,'” Shoemate told Former Navy SEAL/CIA Shawn Ryan.

“That was a very rough dig into the guy, but my issue was that I couldn’t validate or verify any of this information. I told him that. Now, how I responded to him was in a subsequent email. I said, ‘This is obviously a very big deal, but I don’t have anything to verify this information with.”

“Talking about gravitic propulsion systems without evidence just makes me another UFO talking head. I’m not going to go on my social media page and start talking about UFOs and anti-gravity systems. I don’t know what you’re talking about. He said, ‘Can I get on Fox News? Contact on Signal, as well as Sean’s show. Hegseth would be good, too.’ That was his last message.”

One particularly alarming detail in the email was Livelsberger’s statement that he was being monitored by the FBI and Homeland Security but claimed he was armed with a “massive VBIED” (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device) and had no intention of surrendering quietly.
