A drunk man has injured himself whilst attempting to steal a statue of St. Michael the Archangel carrying a sword from a church in Mexico.

The 32 year-old Michael Alonso visited his local church in Monterrey in the early hours of the morning. According to a report translated by the Catholic News Agency, Alonso broke into the church at night before tripping and cutting his neck with the sword causing serious injury.

Locals who noticed the incident at the church entrance called for assistance where shortly after he made contact with local authorities. He received much needed medical attention before being handed over to police. The statue was undamaged and returned to the church.

In Catholicism the Archangel St. Michael is seen as the defender of the heavenly host and the helper of the armies of god against the Devil, which is why he is usually always depicted with a sword.

In the Bible passage, Revelation 12:7-8 it reads, 'Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.'

Catholics celebrate the feast day of Saint Michael, also known as Michaelmas, on September 29th, where tradition dictates a day spent with family and a meal prepared made up of goose stuffed with potatoes, vegetables and herbs.

Given that over 75% of Mexico are practicing Catholics the symbolism that St. Michael holds is not an insignificant one.

The thief being cut by the blade of St. Michael, defender of the church, has been called by some local residents as divine retribution.

Lupita, a local shop owner in Monterrey, told ABC Noticias as much.

That happened to him for doing bad things,' she said. 'Saint Michael is for protection, to combat evil, I think that's why that happened to him.'

The church was targeted again back in October as another thief tried to steal the statue of an alter boy, but was quickly apprehended by police.

"CNA had asked for information about McCarrick's roles with the State Department, a summary of his trips, and whether the State Department is reviewing the trips for potential misconduct. The department was also asked whether it had any knowledge of misconduct or rumored misconduct by McCarrick and whether it had been informed of any Catholic disciplinary action taken against the former Archbishop of Washington.

McCarrick served in diplomatic roles for both the Holy See and the U.S. State Department. In November 1996, McCarrick was invited to serve on the U.S. Secretary of State's Advisory Committee on Religious Freedom Abroad. From 1999 to 2001 he was a member of the U.S. Commission for International Religious Freedom.

In the year 2000, the U.S. Secretary of State recommended him for the Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award, a recommendation approved by then-President Bill Clinton. At the award ceremony Dec. 6, 2000 Clinton said that two years prior he had sent McCarrick as one of his representatives on "a groundbreaking trip to discuss religious freedom with China's leaders."

"In tough places, where civilians are struggling to get out, chances are you will find Archbishop Theodore McCarrick working hard to get in and to help them," Clinton said. "The litany of countries he has visited sounds more suited to a diplomat than an archbishop: the former Soviet Union, the Balkans, the countries devastated by Hurricane Mitch, East Timor, Ethiopia, Burundi, Cuba, Haiti, Colombia."

The Archdiocese of New York's June 2018 announcement of a credible accusation that McCarrick had abused a minor decades previously set in motion a wave of allegations about misconduct, including misconduct with seminarians. It is now known that Archbishop McCarrick was the subject of two legal settlements in 2005 and 2007 with men who said he sexually abused them while they were seminarians for the New Jersey dioceses he headed until his move to the Washington archdiocese in 2001.

McCarrick resigned from the College of Cardinals on July 27, the first American ever to do so, and Pope Francis ordered him to observe "a life of prayer and penance in seclusion" until the conclusion of the canonical process against him.

Questions about his alleged misconduct became even more controversial after Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, the former apostolic nuncio to the U.S., released an 11-page statement charging that senior bishops and cardinals for more than a decade had been aware of the allegations of his misconduct against priests and seminarians. Archbishop Viganò also stated that, in either 2009 or 2010, Pope Benedict XVI imposed sanctions on McCarrick "similar to those now imposed upon him by Pope Francis" and that McCarrick was forbidden from traveling and speaking in public."

My first intervention about McCarrick, which I made as Delegate for Pontifical Representations in the Secretariat of State, dates back to Dec. 6, 2006, following a report of the then-nuncio to the United States, Abp. Pietro Sambi. Subsequently, in 2008, I presented a second memorandum that reported facts of such gravity and in such detail that it led me to recommend that McCarrick be deposed as cardinal and that he be reduced to the lay state. My testimony of August 2018 is known to everyone, as are my subsequent declarations.

The documents were moved in the summer of 2017 after spending about six months at a government transition office near the White House once Biden left the vice presidency.

The space, in DC's Chinatown neighborhood, was overseen by the Penn Biden Center while its prized location near the Capitol was being readied. The office had its formal opening, attended by Biden, in 2018.

The woman who oversaw the packing and shipping of Biden's documents in 2017 was former administrative assistant Kathy Chung, who secured the position with a well-placed recommendation from Hunter Biden, who touted her capabilities to his father.

'Hunter Biden recommended it. They had worked together at Department of Commerce years ago,' the person said. Hunter notified her of the opportunity, asked her if she was interested, and found out that she was.

'He spoke to her father about her,' said the person. So did former Delaware Sen. Ted Kaufman, a longtime Biden associate who is among the trio of Democratic senators she had worked for in the past.

Hunter Biden did a stint at the agency under Secretary William Daley at the tail end of the Clinton Administration form 1998 to 2001, following a job at a bank at the start of a career in law and lobbying.

Then, as now, he had his father's ear on a variety of matters.

Western tanks won’t be game changer in Ukraine – Kremlin

If the US and its allies supply Ukraine with heavy tanks, the consequences for Kiev will only be negative, while it will not seriously impact Russia’s military operation in the country, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed on Friday.

His comments came as top defense officials from Washington and its partners convened at America’s Ramstein Air Base in Germany to discuss further military aid for Ukraine. The US Department of Defense previously announced that one of its top goals for the meeting was to convince Berlin to provide its Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev, or at least allow other countries, such as Poland and Finland, to deliver their own German-made tanks to Ukraine.

However, the ministers failed to reach a unanimous decision on the matter, according to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

Berlin has long expressed a hesitancy to allow allied nations to send Leopards to Kiev and is reportedly waiting for the US to send its own Abrams tanks first. The Pentagon, however, declined to include M1 Abrams tanks in its latest package to Ukraine.

Last week, the British government vowed to deliver 14 Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Kiev.

Peskov stated that these supplies will only create more problems for Ukraine and ultimately fail to change anything regarding Russia’s progress on the battlefield.

The spokesman cautioned against exaggerating “the importance of such supplies in terms of their ability to change something,” and explained that “all these tanks will require both maintenance and repairs, and so on,” thus creating more challenges for Kiev’s troops.

Russia has repeatedly insisted that any weapons sent to Ukraine will only serve to prolong the conflict and lead to more unnecessary bloodshed. As for the tanks, Peskov stated earlier this week that if they end up being delivered to Ukraine, they “will burn like the rest” of the Western weapons.

EU foreign policy commissioner Josep Borrell said on Friday that the West must keep sending weapons to Kiev, warning those who think Russia has lost or is doing poorly that Moscow has a history of winning long wars.

“Russia is a great country, a great nation that is used to fighting to the end, almost losing and then recovering,” Borrell said in a speech in Madrid, bringing up the 1812 invasion by Napoleon Bonaparte’s French empire and the 1941 invasion by Adolf Hitler’s Germany as historical examples of this.

“It would be absurd to think that Russia has lost the war or that its military is incompetent,” Borrell added.

He claimed that so far Moscow “has been losing the war but it still has enormous strength and capacity to continue [fighting].”

Because of this, he said, “now is the time to continue arming Ukraine with the necessary material and military means to wage the kind of war it has to wage.” He described this as “not only a defensive war but one that allows it to take the initiative and break fronts and prevent Russia from launching a new, very powerful and bloody offensive in a few months.”

Borrell’s invocation of Napoleon and Hitler was unusual, as Moscow has repeatedly compared the current efforts by the collective West with the two invasions, known as the Patriotic War and the Great Patriotic War, respectively.

Napoleon led a multinational army recruited from all across French-dominated Europe and reached Moscow, but failed to compel Russia’s surrender. The war ended with Russian cavalry on the streets of Paris two years later. Hitler’s effort, also aided by numerous continental allies and vassals, fell just short of Moscow. The Axis armies were savaged at Stalingrad and turned back at Kursk, with Russian soldiers taking Berlin in 1945.

According to Russian estimates, the US and its allies funneled almost $100 billion worth of weapons, ammunition and supplies to the Ukrainian military in 2022. Despite this unprecedented effort, Borrell on Friday continued to insist the West was not a party to the conflict, and that the EU did everything it could to avoid it. Former leaders of Germany and France, however, publicly admitted that the European-mediated Minsk agreements had been a ploy to buy Ukraine time to prepare for war.

The EU’s high commissioner for foreign affairs spoke at Madrid’s Teatro Real, where he was presented with the New Economy Forum 2022 Award. One of the presenters was Javier Solana, Borrell’s predecessor at the EU post and NATO’s secretary general in 1999, when the US-led bloc launched an unprovoked war against Yugoslavia.

On the other hand, the Republican Party is recklessly pursuing a minority of voters who are indulging in lifestyles that are contrary to the Commandments and to the common good.

American Catholics find themselves today in the impossible situation of being represented by a political class that is revealing itself to be completely incapable of representing and expressing Catholic convictions in moral and religious matters.

This causes voters to become disaffected, which is added to electoral fraud and scandals that are emerging about media censorship and the manipulation of electoral consensus.

Up until now, certain aspects of the political platform of the Republican Party were able to be overlooked to some extent due to the much more serious threat embodied by the Democratic Party.

But it is now evident that the action of the deep state has contaminated the entire political elite without distinction, even involving Donald Trump, who up until now seemed to be a source of hope for the future of the United States.

A nation that offends the Law of God cannot hope to be blessed by the Lord, and those who support sinful lifestyles ought to think of the Judgment that awaits them rather than pleasing those who are corrupt in a calculated effort to win votes.

This nonchalance in political action by Republicans is no less harmful than the open opposition to the perennial Magisterium of the Church on the part of Democrats.

I urge American Catholics to pray, asking the Lord to enlighten politicians of sound principles, urging them to fight with courageous commitment for the defense of the Natural Law and the Commandments of God.

The ongoing hostilities between Moscow and Kiev are a truly global conflict that is sending ripples around the world, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, said on Friday. Earlier, Russian officials repeatedly insisted that numerous NATO nations were involved in the Ukraine conflict to a great extent.

“It is a global war because what it did [is] it wiped out the peace dividends we have enjoyed for 30 years,” the IMF chief told a World Economic Forum’s panel in the Swiss ski resort of Davos. Investments that could have gone into economic development are now being spent on defense and weapons, Georgieva added.

“The result [is] more poor people, more hunger,” the IMF head warned. “It is a war against prosperity around the world.”

The Bulgarian economist noted that the ongoing conflict could pose a danger to the wealthier part of the world as well. “It is also a tremendous risk for confidence, [particularly] in Europe,” she said.

Russia has long insisted that the conflict in Ukraine is an indirect standoff between Moscow and the West. In December, the secretary of Russia’s national security council, Nikolay Patrushev, claimed that “the events in Ukraine are not a confrontation between Moscow and Kiev” but a military confrontation between NATO and Russia.

Patrushev also accused the West of sacrificing other people’s lives for profit and ambition. The senior official, who previously served as director of the Federal Security Service (FSB), insisted that Washington and its allies were simply using Ukrainians for their own goals because an independent Russia had “no place” in their minds.

This viewpoint was echoed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, who said that Russia was fighting the West in Ukraine.

Earlier in January, the Kremlin accused Western nations of indirectly taking part in the conflict.

“Their involvement in this conflict is obvious,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at the time. Although both Washington and Brussels maintain they have no intention of getting involved in the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, “de facto they have already become an indirect party” to it, he said.

My personal and professional mission in life is to help educate, empower, and uplift the most marginalized children within our communities by providing them with the foundation and tools necessary for a bright and successful future. Two of the biggest influences on children’s lives are their teachers and their social, political, and economic rights. Did you know that the United States is the only country in the world that has failed to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (an international human rights treaty which sets out the civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights of children)? Through my educator professional development company, Elevated Ed, we seek to cultivate transformative learning in various spaces (education and political) in our pursuit of providing all children with more high-quality and culturally responsive teaching.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Dr. Quintin Bostic, but most people call me “Dr. Q”. I’m 32 and currently reside in Buckhead.

I first tapped into the educator professional learning industry around 2012. I was a teacher at that time and was required to attend professional development throughout the school year. Some of these trainings were fun, but honestly, most of them were not. In addition, I noticed a lack of topics and trainings surrounding justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom. After many of these experiences, I decided enough was enough and started working for several professional development agencies to address this issue. After several years of being a trainer, coach, researcher, and university instructor, I decided to step out on faith and open my own company. Thus, the emergence of Elevated Ed.

Elevated Ed provides a variety of services that stretch across multiple industries including education, public health, and human resources. Some of our services include diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training, internal policy review and evaluation support, instructional coaching, curriculum auditing, and much more.

73% of our clients are from the education industry, and they rave about the shifts and improvements that they see not only in the teachers that we support but in the children as well. One school leader from a local district recently stated, “Our entire staff attended the DEI training. It was one of the most life-changing experiences that I have had in years. I learned so much. I now know what work I need to do internally – and – We have decided as a program that we will do this training every year.”

I am most proud of all of the obstacles that I have overcome. It is not easy doing DEI work in some schools here in Georgia, but we as a company understand that the work has to be done. I get up each day proud to say that I am a leader in the pursuit of ensuring that all children have access to a more equitably driven education.

How’d you meet your business partner?

I met my Co-Founder, Dr. Marcus North while pursuing my Ph.D. at Georgia State University. Like Dr. North, we both had similar experiences in professional learning and sought to make a change. One day while chatting about business, we asked each other, “What would the perfect educational training company’s name be?” We both agreed that Elevated Ed was perfect, and we should be the ones that own it. A year later, our business is thriving. We are learning and growing more every day.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

My biggest advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale would be to learn, listen, and lead with love. Learn about your team’s personal life, and use their experiences, passions, and identities as a way to support them in their role. Listen to your team on a deeper level. When you listen intentionally, it not only makes the other person feel heard, but also improves the quality of your conversation. Leading with love is the key to success as a leader. Not only does it build a strong work culture, but it helps to cultivate a space where everyone feels safe to be who they are, share their ideas, and work through challenges.

US pulling military gear from Korea for Ukraine

The US has asked its forces stationed in South Korea to provide military equipment for Ukraine, the Department of Defense said on Thursday. While the Pentagon did not state what kind of equipment would be requisitioned, earlier reports suggested that the US is sourcing artillery shells from Seoul.

US Forces Korea confirmed the Pentagon’s request, with a spokesman saying that it would have “zero impact on our operations and our ability to execute on our ironclad commitment to the defence of our ally, the Republic of Korea.”

The spokesman did not specify what kind of equipment had been requested, how much would be supplied, or whether any had already been transferred.

However, theNew York Times claimed on Tuesday that the Pentagon has already given Ukraine 155mm artillery shells from its stocks in South Korea and Israel. The US has supplied Ukraine with just over a million of these shells, “a sizable portion” of which came from these two countries, the newspaper reported, citing an anonymous US official.

Ukrainian forces currently fire between 4,000 and 7,000 of these shells per day, according to American officials interviewed by CNN. Estimates of Russian fire have varied hugely from anywhere between 5,000 and 60,000 artillery rounds per day. Ukraine’s artillery disadvantage is compounded by the fact that its Western-donated guns – the German-made Panzerhaubitze 2000 and American M777 howitzer, for example – were never designed for such sustained rates of fire, and are plagued by battlefield breakdowns.

The US is “looking under every rock” for ammunition, an anonymous official told Fox News on Wednesday. Months of media reports have suggested that the US-led effort to arm Ukraine has left stockpiles in some NATO nations close to the point of exhaustion.

Against this background, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin traveled to Germany this week to head a meeting of the ‘Defense Contact Group’, a panel of nearly 50 countries that meet regularly to pledge new arms packages for Ukraine. Speaking before the meeting on Thursday, Austin said the US is looking to “energize the industrial base” to produce more weapons and ammunition.

Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert (R) filed a bill on Friday to defund the abortion provider Planned Parenthood, Fox News Digital reported.

The Defund Planned Parenthood Act, Boebert's first proposed legislation of the new year, seeks to put an end to the clinic receiving millions of taxpayer dollars each year.

In 2022, the abortion provider and its affiliates received more than $633 million from taxpayers.

If passed, the proposed legislation will redirect those funds to "Federally Qualified Health Centers" that provide women with health care services, including pap smears, cancer screenings, and family planning services.

"The nation's largest abortion provider has no business receiving taxpayer dollars," Boebert said of the bill. "Planned Parenthood claims these funds go to healthcare for women, but last year, Planned Parenthood performed a record number of abortions while also reducing the number of well-woman exams and breast cancer screenings it performed."

"Instead of funding Planned Parenthood, my bill will redirect this funding to community health centers that focus on healthy women, not killing babies," Boebert added.

Planned Parenthood, which provides services to 2.4 million Americans, has responded to previous calls to defund the clinic by stating that it would "really mean blocking patients who depend on public health care funds from getting their care at Planned Parenthood health centers."

Planned Parenthood's annual 2021-2022 report claimed that the clinic performed 383,460 abortions.

Boebert posted on Twitter Friday, "I've introduced my first bill of the 118th Congress. It would defund Planned Parenthood. We need to protect the sanctity of life in this country. To all those marching at the March For Life, let's rally behind this bill and get it done!"

It is imperative that our nation, especially our educational community, embrace its cultural diversity in all its aspects. While many educational communities have talked about justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism, we believe that many of these educational spaces have only touched the surface of what needs to be addressed to truly make a difference. Our mission at Elevated Ed is to prove that in order to increase student achievement and understand students with various cultural identities and experiences, we as educators must be willing to step into a space of discomfort and identify the origin of our prejudices (intentional or unintentional). Elevated Ed especially focuses on three main areas: Teacher Knowledge and Skill Development, JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion), and Joy. Focused on taking the learning experiences of students to an elevated level of engagement and achievement, Elevated Ed prides itself on its ability and dedication to coach, train, and support school and community members on equity-based strategies that promote student success. We operate in the trifecta of theory, practice, and equity. Culture centers our work with stakeholders, highlighting each partner’s individuality, identity, and inclusivity. Rangers in northeastern Australia were astonished when they stumbled across what may be the largest toad on record, weighing in at nearly 6 pounds.

Dubbed "Toadzilla" by the rangers, the 2.7-kilogram (5.9-pound) amphibian was found in Conway National Park in Queensland last week when park officials were conducting track work, the state's Department of Environment and Science said on social media.

In a tweet on Thursday, the department said rangers "were shocked to find a monster cane toad."

Ranger Kylee Gray said team came across the mammoth creature when she left their vehicle as they stopped to let a snake slither across the track.

"I reached down and grabbed the cane toad and couldn't believe how big and heavy it was," Gray said in a statement from the department on Friday.

"We dubbed it Toadzilla," Gray said, adding that they worked quickly to remove it from the wild because a cane toad of its size will eat "anything it can fit into its mouth."

Believed to be female, as they typically grow larger than their male counterparts, the toad was taken back to the rangers' base, where she was weighed. Rangers say Toadzilla could set a new record.

The current Guinness World Record for the largest toad was set in 1991 by Prinsen, a pet toad in Sweden, which weighed a hefty 2.65 kg (5.13 lb).

Toadzilla has since been "euthanised due to the environmental damage they cause," the department added in its tweet.

The Department of Environment and Science told CNN on Friday that she has been sent to the Queensland Museum for further analysis.

Native to South America and mainland Central America, cane toads were first introduced to Australia in 1935 as a biological control against cane beetles.

Instead, they became an invasive and noxious species that has "had a devastating impact on our native wildlife," the department added. They typically colonize a wide range of habitats, though not widely spread through rainforests, but will penetrate these areas along roads and walking tracks, according to the department.

According to Spiegel, the BND told Bundestag MPs at a secret meeting this week that the Ukrainian army is currently losing a three-digit number of soldiers every day in battles with the Russian occupiers.

"The Ukrainians are currently suffering huge losses near Bakhmut. The BND briefing informs about three-digit numbers of casualties per day. According to the analysis, the fall of Bakhmut would have consequences for the entire line of Ukrainian defence. They say that Russia is now throwing soldiers like cannonballs since the losses there do not bother it," Spiegel informs.

British intelligence has previously reported that one of Ukraine's two main supply routes to Bakhmut has continued to be subjected to intense artillery bombardment.

Also, British intelligence reported in January that Russian troops have increased pressure on Bakhmut, but they are unlikely to surround the city soon.

Special Interests Intervene in South Dakota in Attempt to Slow Noem’s Proposal Restricting Chinese Land Purchases

A coalition of special interests and industry representatives has emerged to try to stop South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem from passing a measure that would restrict the ability of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or other foreign entities to purchase land in her state, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.

Noem’s proposal, introduced last month ahead of this year’s legislative session, would create a state-level version of the federal Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Titled CFIUS-South Dakota, Noem’s vision is to create a board that can review and then block any foreign entity’s proposal to purchase land in South Dakota. The measure has support in both the state House and the state Senate, and is likely to be considered this legislative session, which has a short window between now and the beginning of March, when the South Dakota legislature has its regular session.

As the measure has gained support, given the wide-scale popularity of any push to block China from buying American farmland, her idea has taken off nationwide as other governors in other states consider similar measures. Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott, for instance, has said he would sign a similar idea into law after a lawmaker in the statehouse introduced a proposal to that effect. Former President Donald Trump, meanwhile, has as part of his early 2024 presidential campaign policy videos rolled out a federal proposal to block China from buying American farmland.

But in South Dakota, special interest groups are racing to slow Noem’s rollout in South Dakota, with a consortium of special interests expressing concerns with her proposed legislation. An email sent by Brenda Forman of the South Dakota Association of Cooperatives to Noem’s legal team in mid-January, obtained by Breitbart News, notes that “agricultural groups” have reviewed an updated version of Noem’s bill and “are deeply concerned about the legality and constitutionality of the proposal.”

“We remain interested in identifying what is not working with our current law,” Forman adds, without providing any specifics about any legal or constitutional concerns these groups her organization represents have.

Forman has not replied to a request for comment for details on any specific concerns, and has also not answered if any of the organizations her umbrella group is representing have any pending or possible looming sales of land to Chinese or other foreign interests.

But the email ends with a list of the groups Forman says are concerned about the Noem proposal, including SD Farm Bureau, SD Farmer Union, SD AgriBusiness Association, SD Cattlemen’s Association, SD Corn Grower Association, SD Dairy Producers, SD Pork Producers, SD Soybean Association, SD Stockgrowers Association, SD Wheat Growers Association, and the SD Association of Conservation Districts, in addition to her SD Association of Cooperatives.

Defense Chiefs Fail to Resolve Dispute on Tanks for Ukraine

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany—Ukraine will have to wait longer to find out if it will get advanced German-made battle tanks.

A dispute over sending the tanks from Western allies to help Ukraine against Russia’s invasion played out both in public and private on Friday, as more than 50 defense leaders meeting in Germany failed to hammer out an agreement—stalled by Berlin’s hesitation.

Failure to reach agreement on what has become an urgent request from Ukrainian leaders largely overshadowed commitments from a number of nations—including the United States—to send billions of dollars in equipment and weapons to the war effort.

While U.S. and NATO leaders denied any dissension in the ranks and praised Germany for its widespread weapons and training contributions to Ukraine, a smaller group of leaders met privately with the Germans to try to find common ground. They were unable to forge a consensus on sending the German-made Leopard tanks.

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said Friday that 15 countries that have the Leopards discussed the issue but no decisions were made. He called the meeting a “good discussion among allies” and said the matter would be discussed again at future talks.

Germany would need to agree for the tanks to be given to Ukraine, which is not a member of NATO. Despite pleas from Ukrainian officials, Germany has so far resisted mounting pressure to quickly supply Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv, or at least clear the way for other countries, such as Poland, to deliver them from their own stocks.

Asked at the close of the Friday meeting whether Germany was “doing enough,” U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin responded, “Yes, but we can all do more.”

“They are a reliable ally and they’ve been that way for for a very, very long time,” he said. “And I truly believe that they’ll continue to be a reliable ally going forward.”

Austin also downplayed the immediate importance of tanks, noting that the U.S. Stryker combat vehicles and Bradley armored vehicles that are being sent would give Ukraine new capabilities in the war. “This isn’t really about one single platform,” he said.

The defense leaders heard an impassioned plea for more military aid from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Speaking via video link, he told the gathering that “terror does not allow for discussion.” He said “the war started by Russia does not allow delays.”

Germany acknowledged there had been no resolution. But, speaking to reporters outside the conference hall, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said, “We will make our decisions as soon as possible.”

He said he had ordered the ministry to look into Germany’s tank stocks so he can be prepared for a possible green light and be able to “act immediately.” Pistorius added that Germany will “balance all the pros and contras before we decide things like that … I am very sure that there will be a decision in the short term but … I don’t know how the decision will look.”

The issue, however, has grown increasingly complicated.

He was named unopposed by the caucus on Saturday morning following Jacinda Ardern's shock resignation announcement less than three days earlier.

Mr Hipkins, 44, is currently the Education and Police Minister and had also taken charge of the nation's COVID-19 response at the height of the pandemic.

The MP regularly fronted press conferences alongside Ms Ardern to provide daily updates at a time many residents have put behind them but not forgotten.

New Zealand was plunged into at times stricter lockdowns than Australia, which included take away shops not being able to operate, under his orders.

His decisions still stick in the mind of New Zealanders, but he has backing from the public according to polls, with residents instead during COVID turning their frustrations at Ms Ardern and Finance Minister Grant Robertson as inflation spiked.

Mr Hipkins, who was first elected into parliament in 2008 and from the right of the party, is seen as the safest choice to fill the role due to his experience.

Other than his portfolios of education and policing, he has also been public service minister and was leader of the house, which placed him in a strong position.

He will need to be formally endorsed by Labour as the party's new leader, and that is expected to happen on Sunday afternoon.

"The Labour Party caucus will meet at 1pm on Sunday to endorse the nomination and confirm Chris Hipkins as Party Leader," NZ Labour Whip Duncan Webb said.

The two partners are accused of producing and distributing pornography with their two adopted children, who are now 9 and 11 years old.

The Zulocks “allegedly performed oral sex on both boys, forced the children to perform oral sex on them, and anally raped their sons,” Townhall’s Mia Cathell reported.

It is reported the gay couple would not only rape their prepubescent children, but also pimp them out to pedophiles in the Atlanta area.

Both suspects are facing more than nine life sentences and are still pleading not guilty.

“According to a copy of the 17-count indictment Townhall has obtained, the adoptive dads allegedly performed oral sex on both boys, forced the children to perform oral sex on them, and anally raped their sons. In at least one instance, the anal rape injured the older Zulock child, who just turned 11-years-old in mid-December. Court records indicate that the child sexual abuse stretches back to as early as late 2019 and intensified in January 2021, March 2021, and December 2021, as the offense dates are listed.”

A mysteriously wealthy gay couple from Atlanta who have been charged with sodomizing their adopted sons also pimped them out to other local men, disturbing new documents reveal.

Zachary Zulock and his husband William Dale Zulock Jr. were once the darlings of the LGBTQ scene in Georgia.

Zachary worked for a local bank branch while William worked for a local government customer service center, but somehow the couple were raking in $7,500-a-week.

They also built their dream home in an area where similar properties sell for $900,000. Friends and relatives are at a loss over how they made so much money.

In August, the pair admitted a range of heinous sexual crimes, including rape and forcing their young sons to perform oral sex on them, after a midnight raid on their home during which one of the adults was hauled naked from the house.

Now, thanks to an investigation by Townhall, it has emerged that not only did the sick pair abuse the boys - they also stand accused of offering them up to other local men.

Hunter Clay Lawless, 27, and Luis Armando Vizcarro-Sanchez, 25, were taken into custody on charges of soliciting an act of prostitution with both boys in August, but their names are only now being made public.

It's unclear whether they ever met the boys or had any sexual interactions with them, but Lawless told police he was invited to the home 'multiple times' by Zachary Zulock, after meeting him through a friend on Grindr.

He was arrested after child porn investigators traced a large cache to his Gmail address.

Lawless told police Zulock contacted him through Snapchat, telling him he planned to 'f**k his son' that night, and warning him to expect videos of it.

Cops found photos and videos of Zachary Zulock raping the boy on Lawless' phone and computer, according to the arrest documents.

In one message, Zachary allegedly said: 'I'm going to f*ck my son tonight. Stand by.'

Vizcarro-Sanchez, the other local man, is also facing a string of unrelated child sex crimes.

Lawless lives with his mother and was shockingly released on a $25,000 bond after his August arrest.

Vizcarro-Sanchez is in custody on a range of charges. He is obsessed with anime and gaming, according to social media profiles, and stands accused of trying to coerce a 13-year-old relative into sex.

It remains unclear what led police to the Zulocks, but a family member spoke to Townhall about them at length. That relative said they had concerns about the company the pair kept, especially around the boys.

Before their August arrest, the pair lived a comfortable life in Atlanta thanks to Zachary's bank work.

They also told relatives how they were given money by the state to pay for the children.

The pair remain in custody awaiting their next court date.

There, the three promised to push for continued financial support to the country and floated terrorism designations for Russia and a paramilitary organization.

Putin is trying to rewrite the map of Europe by force of arms. World order is at stake,” Graham said. “To the Germans: Send tanks to Ukraine because they need them. The U.S. is urging Germany to send tanks to Ukraine to help the country push back against a renewed Russian offensive. However, Germany will not do so unless the U.S. sends its M1 Abrams tanks, which the Pentagon is reportedly reluctant to do, citing the logistical challenges of the tanks’ upkeep.

“I am as deeply concerned as ever because we are at a critical turning point, a historic fork in the road, for this conflict,” Blumenthal added. “It is a time of maximum danger but also maximum opportunity. The Russians are on the verge of a major counter-offensive that will be as barbaric and inhumane as all of what they have done.”

The senators are also urging Congress designate paramilitary organization the Wagner Group as a terrorist organization. Operated by oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, the mercenary band has been accused of killing civilians and committing mass rapes. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby announced Friday the U.S. Treasury would designate the group a “transnational criminal organization.”

“We are keenly aware that in the last year Ukrainian families have experienced a lot of suffering, and many mourn loved ones,” Whitehouse said. “We are going to go back together and try and sort out a problem you shouldn’t have to face.”

Billionaire Bill Gates had never met Anthony Albanese before Saturday, but he thought he’d drop in on the Australian prime minister to talk vaccines, energy and climate change.

Gates, who is in the country with his foundation and representatives from his company, Breakthrough Energy, has made it his mission to ensure world leaders are ready for the next pandemic.

Standing at 177cm, the Microsoft founder didn’t have the physical stature of Albanese’s last celebrity drop-in, the 216-centimetre former basketballer Shaquille O’Neal, but the conversation was much bigger.

Sitting in the living room of Kirribilli House, the two men discussed climate action, the energy transition, international development and health, and the need for Australian innovation to help solve global challenges.

Albanese told Gates he was “very welcome here”.

“We haven’t met before. But I’ve admired your work and your contribution, not just financially, but in raising debates, including the need to deal with health issues,” Albanese said.

“We’ve just been through the pandemic, but we need to prepare for future health challenges, and the work that’s being done on eradicating malaria and other diseases in our region is very important.”

Albanese told Gates that his government had been “elected on the platform of taking climate change seriously”, which was backed up by its emissions reduction target of 43 per cent by 2030, and net zero by 2050.

“That’s fantastic,” Gates replied.

He thanked Albanese for the Australian government’s increased commitment to the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

“As you say, the preparedness for the next pandemic is still a discussion that hasn’t been figured out,” Gates said.

“You know, malaria in the long run, we want to do the same thing we’re doing with polio, which is eradicated regionally, and then eradicated all over the world.”

Gates has also influenced previous Australian prime ministers.

Albanese’s predecessor, Scott Morrison, was inspired to commit to a 2050 net-zero emissions target after reading the billionaire’s book, How to Avoid A Climate Disaster. Morrison regularly quoted large slabs of the book to advocates and critics of stronger action on climate change.

Gates also met then-prime minister Julia Gillard and foreign minister Bob Carr on a trip to Australia in 2013.

“I’m very happy to announce that I’m going to run for a third term in the Senate,” Kaine told reporters.

I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the ability of persons located, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States to interfere in or undermine public confidence in United States elections, including through the unauthorized accessing of election and campaign infrastructure or the covert distribution of propaganda and disinformation, constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. Although there has been no evidence of a foreign power altering the outcome or vote tabulation in any United States election, foreign powers have historically sought to exploit America’s free and open political system. In recent years, the proliferation of digital devices and internet-based communications has created significant vulnerabilities and magnified the scope and intensity of the threat of foreign interference, as illustrated in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with this threat.

Accordingly, I hereby order:
