To seize further control of people’s lives, Globalists are pushing the false idea that these cities will “save the planet” and help all of humanity.

Fifteen-minute cities are popping up everywhere, and the World Economic Forum is wildly enthusiastic about them. Last year it was announced that Paris, France, would become a 15-minute city, and now the British city of Oxford is next. However, outraged Brits are fighting back.

As reported previously at RAIR Foundation USA, the city council has announced that it will divide Oxford into 15-minute neighborhoods or small 15-minute towns billed as “greener, cleaner and safer.” To further seize control of people’s lives, Globalists are pushing the false idea that these “green” cities, which make services accessible to residents within 15 minutes of their homes, will “save the planet” and help all humanity.

Instead, they are nothing more than a way for them to restrict, coerce, fine, punish, surveil, and limit the fundamental right of freedom of movement for residents. For example, residents are not allowed to leave your 15-minute city by car more than the allotted times a year. Otherwise, you will be fined. In addition, the government will track and control your every movement through your smartphones & facial recognition technology.

Climate lockdown

The “15-minute city” concept is crucial in the United Nations Agenda 2030 and their Net Zero green agenda. The World Economic Forum is also pushing this new concept. Oxford, which has declared a ‘climate emergency,’ is hoping their 15-minute cities will help achieve the Council’s ‘Net Zero carbon Oxford’ vision by 2040.”

As early as 2024, Oxford plans to impose “climate lockdowns” on residents to help achieve the Council’s ‘Net Zero carbon Oxford’ vision by 2040.” The “15-minute city” concept is also crucial for the United Nations Agenda 2030. And not surprisingly, the World Economic Forum is also pushing the idea.

Oxford will be divided into six zones ‘to save the planet’ from “global warming.” Electronic fences are placed on access roads to ensure residents remain within their own zone.

Residents are allowed to leave their 15-minute city a maximum of 100 times a year, but then they must first register their car, which is tracked throughout the city via smart cameras.

While the initial allotment of escape tickets may seem reasonable to some, once the public accepts that the state has the right to confine you, it is guaranteed that they will add additional restrictions and fewer permits to leave your zone. This was established very clearly and quickly in many Western nations in the past few years under the rubric of Covid restrictions.

Protests

Oxford residents are furious over council plans to turn the city into ’15-minute’ controlled zones. They have been brushed away by the Council, which has ignored their displeasure.

Oxford citizens have taken to the streets, “The media is silent, of course,” writes UK journalist Sophie Corcoran. She implored people to stand with the citizens of Oxford against this type of totalitarianism.

It is done.

Over two years after the 2020 presidential election, the final batch of ballots were counted again, this time by hand, early Wednesday afternoon.

There were 59,481 ballots within the official results from the election that were counted, according to Forrest Lehman, director of Voter Services.

“It took a little over two days to get through the batches once, and then the additional time was spent today, Wednesday, (going) back through some of the batches a second time because the first time that they were looked at; we had some number discrepancies…,” Lehman said.

So, did counting by hand add the element of accuracy those who petitioned for it sought?

According to Lehman, not so much.

“One of the things I learned at least as a result of this is that I don’t believe the hand count added any value to the process. If anything, it injected additional human error,” he said.

“I know that the people out there who requested this don’t trust the machines, but when we release the results, it’s going to show that they’re very close and that the variations that we will have discovered would have been discoverable much more quickly, much more easily by a regular machine recount,” he said.

Lehman anticipates sending out a media release within the next day or two to state what the results were compared to the original official certified results from 2020 and what were the net changes in vote totals for the two races.

After that initial announcement, there would be a board of elections meeting where there would be more time to present more detail to the public, Lehman said.

Although he has not spoken with any of the people who had requested the recount as the process draws to an end, Lehman offered his opinion on what it has shown.

“To me, it confirms what I knew all along. Somebody asked me once, why do you have faith in the voting system? It’s not faith,” he said. “It’s a belief based on evidence that, in fact, we test this equipment before every election. We do audits after every election. When we’ve done statewide recounts those numbers stay close. They stay accurate.”

“We have statewide recounts. We have it before and after the elections and we have it here from a hand count where those numbers are hardly going to change. At that point, I don’t know what’s left to argue,” he said.

Australian Cardinal George Pell - who was convicted then acquitted of child sex abuse - will not be offered a state funeral in his home state to avoid distress for victims of abuse, the state's premier says.

He is Australia's highest ranking Catholic, and the most senior clergyman ever jailed for child sex offences.

State funerals are frequently offered to notable public figures in Australia.

But the premier of Victoria - where Cardinal Pell was born and spent about half his career - said no such funeral would take place there.

"I couldn't think of anything more distressing for victim survivors," Daniel Andrews told reporters on Thursday.

Mr Andrews also said he was unlikely to attend the cleric's funeral.

Officials in New South Wales, where the Cardinal served as Archbishop of Sydney, have also said they will not offer the honour, local media report.

Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has also declined to say whether he will attend the cardinal's funeral.

During a career spanning six decades, he worked his way through the ranks of the Church in Victoria, serving as Archbishop of both Melbourne and then Sydney, before he became one of the Pope's top aides.

He was summoned to Rome in 2014 to clean up the Vatican's finances, and was often described as the Church's third-ranked official.

But the cleric left his post in 2017, returning to Australia to face trial on child sex abuse charges.

A jury in 2018 found he had abused two boys while Archbishop of Melbourne in the 1990s.

Cardinal Pell, who always maintained his innocence, spent 13 months in prison before the High Court of Australia quashed the verdict in 2020, finding the jury had not properly considered all the evidence at his trial.

Even before he faced charges, the cleric was a lightning rod for anger in Australia over the Church's failure to tackle the child sex abuse crisis.

A landmark inquiry found that he knew of child sexual abuse by priests in Australia as early as the 1970s but failed to take action, something he says is "not supported by evidence".

The cleric also faced criticism as an architect of the Australian Church's first victim compensation scheme, which survivors say was designed to protect the Church from large payouts and lacked empathy.

Republicans see new reason to investigate Joe Biden

The US president may have mishandled classified documents, Senator Lindsey Graham has said

Republicans have urged US Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate the possible mishandling of government records by President Joe Biden. The appeal came after a number of classified files were found in Biden’s former office, which he used while serving as vice president between 2009 and 2017.

Lindsey Graham, a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, argued that Garland should initiate a probe similar to the ongoing investigation of former President Donald Trump.

“I think if you believe a special counsel is necessary to assure the public about the handling of classified documents by Donald Trump, you should apply a special counsel to the mishandling of classified documents by President Biden when he was vice president,”the Republican senator told Fox News.

Senator Josh Hawley also called for investigating Biden. “It can’t be that we have two tiers of justice in this country. It can’t be that there’s one rule for Republicans and a different rule for Democrats,” he said while appearing on Fox News. “The Democrats say they’re all for equity. Well, what’s equitable here is that there be a special counsel.”

The White House acknowledged on Monday that “a small number” of classified documentswere discovered in Biden’s former office in Washington in November. According to US media, Garland appointed prosecutor John R. Lausch Jr. to conduct an initial inquiry into the matter.

A number of US news outlets cited sources on Wednesday as saying that Biden’s aides had discovered at least one additional batch of classified documents at a separate location related to the president.

Biden said on Tuesday thathe was “surprised”when learning about the discovery.

“I don’t know what’s in the documents,” the president told reporters during his trip to Mexico.

The incident immediately drew comparisons to the similar allegations against Trump. FBI agents raided the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida in August, retrieving troves of government records, which included classified materials. Garland eventually appointed prosecutor Jack Smith as special counsel to investigate Trump in connection to the documents, as well as the 2021 US Capitol riot in Washington.

Outgoing presidents must return all presidential records to the government because they are considered the property of the American people. The official records of former presidents are stored in the National Archive.

Trump, however, denied mishandling classified documents. “When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House? These documents were definitely not declassified,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account on Monday.

Republican congressmen claim the idea plays into the “worship” of the foreign leader

Conservative US lawmakers critical of the adulation of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky have rallied against a proposal to place a bust of the foreign leader in the Capitol building in Washington. US RepresentativeJoe Wilson has suggested making a Zelensky statue a permanent feature.

Wilson, a Republican from South Carolina, made a proposal on Monday to direct the Fine Arts Board to obtain a bust “for display in a suitable, permanent location in the House of Representatives wing of the United States Capitol.”

Some members of the GOP’s Freedom Caucus, which includes a conservative minority opposing unconditional support for Ukraine, expressed skepticism. Andy Biggs of Arizona, one of its leading members, asked whether Congress allocating over $100 billion in aid to Ukraine was “not enough.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia said she was “absolutely not” approving the idea, adding that US lawmakers were serving “America not Ukraine.”

Popular conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson branded the idea “insane,” telling viewers that Zelensky is a “dictatorial” politician who banned opposition parties in his country and is currently cracking down on a Christian denomination. Having a bust of Zelensky at the Capitol would allow Americans to “worship him daily,” he joked.

Carlson lamented the fact that the proposal came from a Republican and called Wilson “a pretty nice guy.” The congressman is a vocal supporter of Kiev. He led a bipartisan House delegation on a visit to Kiev in December. He also sponsored a resolution urging the US government to suspend Russia from the UN Security Council, which it has no authority to do.

Zelensky received a hero’s welcome when he flew to Washington last month. Some officials, including then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, compared him to Winston Churchill, Britain’s leader during World War II.

Last year, the US Congress approved requests for over $100 billion in spending related to Ukraine, with a large portion of it going to weapons procurement. Zelensky’s visit happened as the Congress was debating a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill, which included $45 billion for Ukraine assistance.

Mayor Muriel Bowser is heading to Beijing and Shanghai on a mission next week to increase investment and create new deals across the city

The trip is scheduled for November 7-14. Her entourage will include government officials such as Ward 2 Council member Jack Evans and Brian Kenner, deputy mayor for planning and economic development, plus representatives from Georgetown University, Children’s Medical Center,Federal City Council,DC Chamber of Commerce,Greater Washington Board of Trade,Destination DC, and nearly three dozen others from the private and non-profit sector.

The delegation represents “the best of the nation’s capital,” Bowser said in a release.

During the mission, the teamwill meet with Chinese businesses and government officials to discuss economic development, trade, innovation, education and tourism. Mayor Bowser will also meet with U.S. Ambassador Max Baucus about U.S. diplomacy in China and opportunities for D.C.-based companies to do business in Asia.

District real estate development firms and small businesses will also get a chance to pitch their projects to Chinese investors, while Chinese startups will pitch solutions to education, energy, sustainability, health, and transportation challenges during 1776’s Challenge Cup.

Berlin has been reluctant to supply Kiev with Leopard 2 panzers without allied support

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will follow US President Joe Biden’s lead on whether to support Kiev with Leopard 2 main battle tanks to help in its fight against Russia, Politico reported on Wednesday, citing anonymous sources.

The UK announced that it would provide Ukraine with main battle tanks, and Poland said it would transfer a company of Leopard 2 panzers to Kiev “as part of coalition building.” Berlin, however, has yet to greenlight Poland’s re-export of the hardware.

According to two unnamed German officials, Scholz’s position on the matter “depended heavily” on Biden. In a joint statement last week, both leaders announced that Washingtonwould donate Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Kiev, and Berlin would send a batch of Marder IVFs and a Patriot air defense system.

Commenting on the UK’s initiative to supply Ukraine with tanks, the German government spokesman said that “there is no change in the situation now because of the step that the British government has announced.” He added that he was not aware of any requests from allies to send Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine.

In recent weeks, Germany has faced mounting pressure to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks, but has been reluctant to do so, with Scholz arguing that no other NATO country has sent this type of tank to Ukraine, and Germany should not be the first. He added that such moves should be coordinated with allies.

Mayor Gray Is Going To China

Mayor Vincent Gray will once again travel to China to promote economic development opportunities.

During a 10-day trip funded by World Tourism Cities Federation, Gray will attend a ribbon cutting for a new DC China Center in Beijing, one of D.C.’s sister cities. The first, opened in 2012 and also operated by the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, is located in Shanghai. The centers market development opportunities in D.C. to Chinese companies, attempt to attract students to D.C. colleges and market the city to tourists. As City Paper reported earlier this year,Chinese investors have taken advantage of the EB-5 program by sinking money into D.C. developments.

Gray will also attend the WTCF’s Summit “encourage … organizers to select the District as its 2015 host city,” per a release.Also on the agenda:

Participate in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Beijing Government and the DC Arts and Humanities Commission. The two cities will mutually agree to enhance the creative economy and cultural connections between their communities by establishing forums and meetings to exchange ideas and by supporting training opportunities.

Announcing the partnership between the District’s Howard University and Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing to launch a global master’s of business administration certificate program.

Why rich foreign investors are financing D.C.’s building boom–in exchange for legal residence in the U.S.

The ribbon-cutting for the Marriott Marquis convention center hotel was a patriotic affair. A choral rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” opened the June 10 ceremony, which took place against a backdrop of three hulking metal sculptures titled “America,” “Flag,” and “The Birth of the American Flag.”

But as Mayor Vince Gray took the podium to welcome D.C.’s new largest hotel, China was on his mind.

That day, he announced, marked the beginning of direct flights on Air China between D.C. and Beijing—something his office says it’s worked to bring to fruition. “Today is the maiden flight,” he told the assembled crowd. “We will have a flight bringing people from Beijing to our city, and we hope they will stay in the Marriott Marquis!”

It would be fitting, given that foreign investors—half of them from China—contributed a portion of the money to pay for the hotel, earning green cards in the process.

Five million dollars of the financing for the development of the $520 million Marriott Marquis came via a federal visa program called EB-5. Through it, foreigners can trade job-creating investments in American projects for green cards. In other words, they can buy their way into permanent U.S. residency.

The federal government provides five vehicles for foreign nationals to obtain immigrant visas through their employment. There are visas for star athletes, internationally recognized professors, and multinational executives; for advanced-degree holders and people of extraordinary ability, with a job offer in hand; for workers and professionals with Department of Labor certification; and for certain special workers, like Iraqi and Afghan translators who have worked with the American military.

Since Congress passed the Immigration Act of 1990, the fifth employment-based preference, or EB-5, has been granted “for capital investment by foreign investors in new commercial enterprises in the United States which provide job creation.” If a foreigner invests $1 million in a U.S. enterprise—or $500,000 in rural areas or “targeted employment areas,” designations that cover nearly all projects—and creates at least 10 American jobs, he or she is eligible for a visa to become a permanent U.S. resident.

The Marriott Marquis is one of a growing number of major D.C. development projects using EB-5 funds. In fact, the same day the Marriott Marquis opened—May 1; the ribbon-cutting a month later was, in typical fashion, purely ceremonial—saw the opening of another hotel just four blocks to the north, the Cambria Suites in Shaw’s CityMarket at O development. CityMarket at O, which also includes residences and a Giant supermarket, used $97 million of EB-5 funding, earning green cards for nearly 200 foreigners.

Top US cattle feeding companies disposed of 1,000 carcasses into a Kansas landfill, where they were flattened by loader machines and mixed with trash.

The firms claimed that the unusual burial method was due to a June heatwave which allegedly killed thousands of cows, forcing them into an “emergency measure.”

This cosmic expanse of dust, gas, and stars covers some 6 degrees on the sky in the heroic constellation Perseus. At upper left in the gorgeous skyscape is the intriguing young star cluster IC 348 and neighboring Flying Ghost Nebula with clouds of obscuring interstellar dust cataloged as Barnard 3 and 4. At right, another active star forming region NGC 1333 is connected by dark and dusty tendrils on the outskirts of the giant Perseus Molecular Cloud, about 850 light-years away. Other dusty nebulae are scattered around the field of view, along with the faint reddish glow of hydrogen gas. In fact, the cosmic dust tends to hide the newly formed stars and young stellar objects or protostars from prying optical telescopes. Collapsing due to self-gravity, the protostars form from the dense cores embedded in the molecular cloud. At the molecular cloud's estimated distance, this field of view would span over 90 light-years.

Get ready to look up: A rare comet is set to brighten the night sky for the first time in 50,000 years.

The newly discovered comet, Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF), was discovered last March when it was within Jupiter’s orbit. The greenish “cosmic snowball” hasn’t soared close to Earth since the last ice age, according to NASA and other astronomy experts.

And starting this week, stargazers have a chance to catch sight of the elusive comet — no telescope necessarily needed.

The comet will be closest to the sun on Jan. 12 and nearest to Earth on Feb. 2, NASA said.

“Comets are notoriously unpredictable, but if this one continues its current trend in brightness, it’ll be easy to spot with binoculars, and it’s just possible it could become visible to the unaided eye under dark skies,” NASA wrote on its “What’s Up” blog.

For the best chance of catching early sight of the comet, sky-gazing folks in the Northern Hemisphere should plan to stay up past midnight, according to EarthSky. The comet will most likely be visible to the unaided eye at night toward the end of January when Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) approaches Polaris, the organization said.

The comet won’t be the only celestial treasure to cross the night sky this month.

Three planets —Jupiter, Saturn and Venus — can be spotted without binoculars or a telescope at different points throughout January, according to NASA. And in the few hours after sunset, bright winter constellations will light up the sky.
