Biography

Luttig received a bachelor's degree from Washington and Lee University in 1976 and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1981.[1] He began his career as an assistant counsel for the Reagan administration from 1981 to 1982. Luttig was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit by George H.W. Bush (R) on April 23, 1991, to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089. He was confirmed by the Senate on July 26, 1991 and received commission on August 2, 1991. Luttig served on the court until his resignation on May 10, 2006.[1]

A prominent psychiatrist who called President Trump and his loyalists mentally ill failed to get her job back after Yale University parted ways with Dr. Bandy Lee two years ago, a judge ruled.

A federal judge in Connecticut dismissed a wrongful termination lawsuit that charged the Ivy League school with violating the woman’s free speech and professional obligations when she was not reappointed to her role with the school, the Harford Courant reported.

Lee, who was in an unpaid position, was with the school for 17 years before she was tossed aside. She argued in legal papers she had a “duty to warn” people about the “contagion” of Trump’s mental state, according to the Courant.

The prestigious university had questions about her judgment and ability to teach after she started making medical proclamations about Trump and others close to him, the newspaper reported.

Her statements go against the American Psychiatric Association rule that prohibits professional opinions of public figures who were not examined, her own lawsuit stated.

Lee insisted that didn’t apply to her because she isn’t a member of the organization and the rule is meant to prevent members from issuing grave public warnings.

“Trump’s presidency represented an emergency which not only allowed, but required, psychiatrists in the United States to sound the alarms,” Lee’s legal team said of her “professional responsibility to protect society.”

“Trump’s mental health was affecting the mental health” of everyone in the US, “placing the country at grave risk” and “undermining democracy itself,” according to the lawsuit of Lee, who also edited the 2017 book “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President.”

Lee’s troubles began around the time one of Yale’s famous graduates, Alan Dershowitz, complained about her after she made an apparent long-distance evaluation of the Harvard professor.

“I think her own words prove that she acted unprofessionally, in violation of academic standards and in violation of the rules of psychiatry,” Dershowitz told the New Haven Register last year.

“I also think that it is unethical to falsely diagnose somebody whom she hasn’t met for political and ideological reasons.”

Yale department head Dr. John Krystal warned in a letter to Lee after the complaint from Dershowitz: “The recklessness of your comments creates the appearance that they are self-serving in relation to your personal political beliefs and other possible personal aspirations,” her lawsuit stated.

Russian intel was more than aware of it. In fact, in an interview to Italian media in December 2021, Darya Dugina herself, based on FSB information, revealed, “they had identified 106 Ukrainian agents who were preparing attacks and massacres in 37 regions of Russia.”

Yet now a high-ranking member of Russian intel – who for obvious reasons must remain anonymous – has shed some information that, in his words, “will add the whole picture to this incident.”

It goes without saying that this is as much as he’s been allowed to reveal by his superiors. According to his analysis, “the tragedy was in the evening. In the next two days the FSB shared the whole data about SBU people who were involved with the incident. The majority of people think that it was a political kill. There are a lot of political kills in Ukraine but this tragedy has no political root. It is actually connected to organized crime money flow.”

The source asserts, “Darya was inside the patriotic movement and had connections in Moscow and Donetsk area. As you know there is a large money flow to the Donbas to restore the economy. This huge money flow provides an extreme incentive for criminal activity. Donetsk crime organizations are more dangerous than others because they operate in the war territory. Thus, someone was afraid that Darya was going to compromise money flow schemes by making this public.”

The source makes the important point that “Boris Nemtsov [a key actor in the liberal reforms imposed on post-Soviet Russia] was also killed by an organized crime group who was afraid that he might compromise some money flow schemes by making them public despite the fact that he was a quite powerful politician. Also [journalist] Anna Politkovkaya. She was given $900,000.00 in cash at Chubais election office during the election days for a political purpose. But some other guys knew it and grabbed the bag. She was slain.”

Disclosure: I prize my friendship with Alexander Dugin – we met in person in Iran, Lebanon and Russia: a towering intellectual and extremely sensitive spirit, eons away from the crude stereotype of “Putin’s brain” or worse, “Putin’s Rasputin” slapped on him by Western media sub-zoology specimens. A bulk ship carrying grain from Ukraine ran aground in Turkey’s Bosphorus Strait, halting traffic in the waterway.

The Turkish General Directorate of Coastal Safety reports that that 173-meter Lady Zehma grounded after experiencing a rudder failure and anchored in Bebek Bay, part of the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul. Several response boats and tugs are responding to the incident.

Ship traffic on the Bosphorus has been suspended.

Rescue teams with the General Directorate of Coastal Safety have boarded the ship.

AIS data from MarineTraffic shows the Panama-flagged ship as “stopped.”

The UN Joint Coordination Centre, which was set up in Istanbul to oversee Ukrainian grain exports under a UN-brokered deal between Russia and Ukraine, shows the Lady Zehma was authorized to depart Ukraine’s Port of Chornomorsk with 3,000 metric tons of corn bound for Ravenna, Italy on August 29.

A new poll released on Tuesday shows that if Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) were to run in the 2024 presidential race, she would sabotage the Democrats and secure former President Donald Trump (R) a second term in the White House.

Cheney, who has vowed that she will do “whatever it takes to ensure Donald Trump is never again anywhere near the Oval Office,” has signaled that she would run for the presidency in 2024 in an attempt to take votes away from Trump.

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll finds the exact opposite, however. The poll found that in a three-way contest with Cheney as an independent, Trump would win in a landslide victory with an 8-point lead, 40 percent to 32 percent, over President Joe Biden.

Despite this, 30 percent of Democrats support a Cheney presidential run while 33 percent oppose it. In contrast, only 10 percent of Republicans support a Cheney run with 70 percent opposing.

Cheney would only secure 11 percent of the vote with a large majority of her voters being middle-of-the-road Democrats rather than conservatives. 21 percent of Biden supporters would vote for Cheney with an additional 15 percent saying they would be unsure on who to vote for if an independent Cheney were to run.

This support for a Cheney bid by Democrats for the highest office in the land comes as the disgraced Republican has a 59 percent favorable rating among liberals whereas only 18 percent disapprove of her. It seems like the selling out of her constituents has made her some friends, however temporary, on the left side of the aisle.

If Cheney were to run in the Republican primary contest, however, she would only be able to secure six percent of the vote in a three-way contest between the former president, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney.

As Liz Cheney continues to destroy her political career, comparing herself to Abraham Lincoln in the process during her concession speech last week, her attempts to appease leftists have only backfired, and hopefully, she realizes that her chances at any political office are all but done for.

Additionally, Vice President Harris tweeted the day before Dorn died a link to the Minnesota Freedom Fund that posted bail to get rioters out of jail following their arrest in protests over the death of George Floyd, according to the Daily Wire.

Man Who Tried to Extort America First Congressman Matt Gaetz Sentenced to Five Years in Jail

A businessman in Florida, Stephen Alford, has been sentenced to five years in prison plus three years supervised release following attempts to extort millions of dollars from Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and his father Don Gaetz after claiming that he could get a presidential pardon for the congressman.

Alford, 62, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and has been sentenced to 63 months in jail. The businessman approached Gaetz after learning that the Department of Justice (DOJ) was investigating the congressman.

Gaetz has repeatedly denied the allegations, but that didn’t stop his father from meeting with Alford where he was given a letter that outlined what the Gaetzes would need to do to achieve a pardon.

Alford told the senior Gaetz that President Joe Biden would grant the congressman a pardon if they put up $25 million to locate and rescue Robert A. Levinson, an American hostage in Iran, per the Daily Wire.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) interviewed the junior Gaetz about his interactions with Alford and subsequently wired him in order to get Alford to incriminate himself on tape. Alford would later admit to investigators that he lied to Gaetz about receiving a pardon.

Congressman Gaetz won his primary reelection on Tuesday with nearly 70% of the vote despite multiple primary challenges meaning that he will likely go back to Congress next year following the midterm elections.

Carruthers said, “I come from a Hispanic heritage, which was prominently Democrat. The chaos at the border and everything that’s been going on make me realize that I needed to switch parties. I am very happy to be a Republican and to represent this great state of Texas as a judge.”

“I’ve been a Democrat since 1992,” Guevara said. “I’ve always ran as a Democrat and this is my first year to run as a Republican. I’m very grateful for Gov. Abbott for all he has done for Texas and continues to do for Texas, especially with our border crisis.”

Rumors continue to swirl that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is “expected” to retire or “step back” after November’s midterm elections.

A new report reveals that California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff is positioning himself as heir to Pelosi’s speakership if she chooses to retire after Republicans likely win back the House. Pelosi, for her part, has announced that she will seek re-election in November.

The Washington Post reports that Schiff’s efforts have “focused on consolidating support among his home base” in California, but that he “has not made an explicit ask for endorsements.”

Instead, the Post says Schiff “is gauging members’ interest and planting the seed that leading the caucus is his goal.”

Last year, Fox News host Maria Bartiromo reported that Pelosi may be planning to step down.

During a segment on Fox, Bartiromo said that sources had told her that Pelosi is stepping down after Democrats pass Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda.

“First, this morning is exclusive, sources tell Sunday Morning Futures there is speculation swirling in Washington that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may step down after getting the massive spending package through,” she said.

Back in July, a report from The Atlantic claimed that Pelosi will be stepping down as Speaker “in the not-so-distant future.”

Republicans are taking the lead as many parts of the country are struggling under Democrats’ rule.

“Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds holds a massive 17-point lead over her Democrat challenger Deidre DeJear with less than four months before the November election,” according to a recent Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll.

“The poll found that 48 percent of the respondents would vote for the Republican incumbent governor in the general election. In comparison, only 31 percent said they would vote for the Democrat, and five percent said the Libertarian Rick Stewart,” reported Breitbart.

The Iowa State Fair Straw Poll showed that Republicans swept the field in the early battleground state.

“Senator Chuck Grassley was the favorite choice in the U.S. Senate race, garnering 59 percent of the vote compared to Mike Franken’s 32 percent. And Governor Kim Reynolds received the most votes of any candidate, garnering 57 percent of the vote to her opponents’ 30 percent,” Iowa News Now reported.

“In 2018, Governor Reynolds won the straw poll by 10 points and won the election by 2.8 points. This year, she increased her margin in the Iowa State Fair Straw Poll to 27 points,” the outlet added.

Iowans know Grassley and Reynolds are the leaders they want fighting back against the Biden administration. The Iowa State Fair Straw Poll shows the Democrats’ weakness in Iowa is only getting worse,” said Kollin Crompton, the communications director for the Republican Party of Iowa.

It’s not just Iowa, either.

New data shows that Americans by the hundreds of thousands have switched to the Republican Party.

The switch in party affiliations came over the course of the past 12 months, as policies enacted by President Joe Biden and spending bills passed by the Democrat-controlled Congress have been roundly blamed for rampant inflation that has seen record-high average gas and diesel fuel prices, rising food and rent costs, and an enduring supply chain crisis as well as a chaotic, porous southwestern border.

Interestingly, Republicans are gaining a lot of ground in the suburbs of both large and medium-sized cities, “where voters who supported President Biden in 2020 are struggling with inflation and growing increasingly critical of Democratic social issues.”

Perhaps nowhere has the shift in Republican voter registration been as significant as in Florida, where the GOP now outnumbers registered Democrats for the first time in the state’s history.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis announced in April that Republicans had amassed a 120,000 voter edge over Democrats in the state.

“When I got elected governor, there were almost 300,000 more registered Democrats in the state of Florida than Republicans. Today, there are over 120,000 more registered Republicans, and we never had more Republicans in the history of the state until I became governor,” DeSantis said while signing election integrity legislation that aims to ensure elections remain secure in the Sunshine State.

“I think people do appreciate a free state and I think they appreciate a lot of what we’ve been able to do,” he said, pointing to a few of the key pieces of legislation the legislature and his administration made a reality.

“We had a special session of the legislature last week and … the legislature passed a couple of bills,” he said, pointing to the congressional districts, including action taken against Disney’s Reedy Creek, which he said, “was basically run by Walt Disney Company.”

“That was really the first step in what’s going to be a process to make sure that, you know, Disney should not run its own government. Disney should not be exempt from the laws that every single person in Florida has to pass,” he said, defending the action from critics.

Democratic operatives have been saying for months the party is cruising to a blowout in the fall thanks to a range of factors.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) did not ramp up production as significantly as President Joe Biden (D) had asked with potential production cuts being considered in September.

OPEC is comprised of 13 nations that are substantial producers of petroleum and include Algeria, Angola, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.

The Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman stated that oil production may have to be reduced in order to stabilize markets that are on the edge of entering recession and as the war in Ukraine continues to rattle the world economy and reduce oil demand, according to Breitbart.

Additionally, the Saudi Minister explained that Russia, which is a member of OPEC+, remains in good standing with the organization and they will be included in future OPEC agreements despite their invasion of Ukraine.

While Biden has repeatedly requested that Saudi Arabia increase their production capacity to quell rising gas prices domestically, the kingdom will only be increasing output by 100,000 barrels a day in September.

China Has Militarized Seafarers Says US Navy Report

Over the many years of reporting maritime news, the idea that China could militarize its commercial maritime fleet has been dismissed by most of the shipping community, but a new report published by the US Naval War College shows that this is not only a possibility but has already been accomplished. This report comes weeks after a CSIS report detailed how China militarized its commercial shipyards.

The report – Civilian Shipping and Maritime Militia: The Logistics Backbone of a Taiwan Invasion – by Lonnie Henley, a former Rhodes Scholar and senior Army intelligence officer, looks at the integration of commercial shipping and China’s seafarers with the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), along with the use of Chinese seafarers – aboard both China flagged ships and Non-Chinese flagged ships – during a planned invasion of Taiwan.

In 2019 we spelled out the importance of training and integration between the US Navy and US Merchant Marine and how broken the current United States commercial shipping system is. Despite receiving high-level attention, little was done to remedy the problem. China however, has taken these lessons to heart.

“Civilian shipping is the central feature of the PLAN approach to an invasion of Taiwan,” says Henley. “The PLA has spent over two decades developing the bureaucratic apparatus, laws, and regulations to organize, train, and manage this force (of civilian seafarers). This seems to be how Chinese leaders, civilian and military, think the PLA should function, leveraging the enormous resources of China’s civilian economy to support military operations.”

The report does mention some weaknesses of the Chinese system to leverage commercial shipping but overall paints a picture in stark contrast to how American and Western merchant mariners are integrated with Naval command.

China’s Merchant Marine Training

The report states that unlike the U.S. Merchant Marine model, where government officers and crews take control of leased ships, regular crews of civilian ships are inducted as militiamen and required to attend military training under the direction of the China’s National Transportation War Preparedness Office. Training includes the following topics:

marshaling, assembly, and sailing in formation;

use of military communications equipment and procedures;

self-defense and mutual defense; rescue and first aid;

military loading and unloading techniques;

basic knowledge of the operating environment from a military perspective;

operation of equipment particular to their assigned support tasks;

knowledge about their supported unit and their role in that unit’s mission;

knowledge about enemy threats they will face; and topics such as “dockless unloading”

This is the type of training that has not been provided to US Merchant Mariners since the US Maritime Administration closed down the Global Maritime and Transportation School in 2012.

China’s War Preparedness Office also provides guidance and training in more specialized topics, including “Modifying Civilian Ships for Military Transportation.” This guidance instructs seafarers on how to mount and interface specialized military equipment, including reconnaissance and surveillance gear, medical treatment facilities, firefighting gear, and emergency repair facilities.

Wednesday night on FOX News, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicted that former President Donald Trump will be indicted for mishandling classified documents at his Florida home after he left the White House.

Gingrich called this the "most corrupt Justice Department in all of American history."

"You have corruption from the Attorney General, to the head of the FBI, to senior elements of the FBI," he said. "You have collusion from a wide range of the intelligence community. You had, I think it was 50 some intelligence senior officials who signed a letter last year that we now know is a total lie, none of whom have recanted."

"I fully expect the Justice Department to indict President Trump in a DC court, a district where he got 5.6 percent of the vote. So by 19 to one, the jury is likely to be against him."

"I have no idea what's going to happen next," he explained. "I'm a historian by training and I tell everybody you have to assume that nothing, you know, tells you anything about how corrupt and how sick this is going to get. Because you get have fanatic who represent a secular religion who are determined to destroy not just Trump but Trump's followers. They could do almost anything. We have no way of knowing what the next six months or two years are going to bring."
