BREAKING: Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, returns abortion issue to the states

On Friday morning, the Supreme Court issued its long-awaited ruling on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, effectively overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision as well as Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

In a 6-3 ruling, the court ruled in favor of returning the issue of abortion to the states to decide.

The majority opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, held “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.”

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division,” the majority opinion reads.

Justices Kagan, Sotomayor, and Breyer dissented.

Under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, any matter that is not explicitly delegated to the federal government must be reserved for the states.

The text of the 10th Amendment reads:

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

The premise of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is a challenge to a Mississippi law banning nearly all abortions after 15 weeks gestation.

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the case in December and wrote a draft opinion last month which was illegally leaked to the press.

The draft opinion, which the court has authenticated, suggested that the court was prepared to hold that abortion is a state’s right. Left-wing activists immediately resorted to intimidation tactics and even violent means to show their disapproval of the potential coming decision. U.S. Marshals now stand guard at the justices’ homes.

A violent response is expected to result from the court overturning the federal legalization of abortions.

The ruling came more than a month after the stunning leak of a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito indicating the court was prepared to take this momentous step.

It puts the court at odds with a majority of Americans who favored preserving Roe, according to opinion polls.

Alito, in the final opinion issued Friday, wrote that Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the 1992 decision that reaffirmed the right to abortion, were wrong the day they were decided and must be overturned.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision,” Alito wrote.

Authority to regulate abortion rests with the political branches, not the courts, Alito wrote.

Joining Alito were Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. The latter three justices are Trump appointees. Thomas first voted to overrule Roe 30 years ago.

Chief Justice John Roberts would have stopped short of ending the abortion right, noting that he would have upheld the Mississippi law at the heart of the case, a ban on abortion after 15 weeks, and said no more.

Texas Man Dies Weeks After Being Attacked by 3 Dogs While Walking from Home to Store Relatives say the same dogs attacked Nicolas Vasquez in MayA 51-year-old man died last weekend from injuries he sustained weeks prior during a dog attack in Houston, Texas.

The attack at the intersection of Harvard Road and Knoll Lane left him gravely injured.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirms three dogs mauled Nicolas Vasquez back on June 9 in the city's Huffman neighborhood.

A GoFundMe campaign launched earlier this month to help cover his medical expenses says the three dogs almost ate Vasquez alive. Vasquez was walking from his home to a store when the attack occurred, according to the page.

The attack happened at around 9 p.m. on June 9. Vasquez was discovered in a ditch by a neighbor.

Maria Castillo, Vasquez's sister-in-law, told the station both of his legs had to be amputated in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

The sheriff's office is still investigating the dog mauling.

No charges have been filed yet.

The pit bull-terrier mixes were seized days after the attack.

Police have released images of the animals. They hope someone recognizes them and identifies their owner.

Castillo told KPRC-TV the same dogs attacked Vasquez in May.

“He was a very nice person and everyone in the neighborhood knew who he was," she said of Vasquez. "We talked a lot about him doing the garden for me."

She said Vasquez's relatives "want justice. We want the authorities to do everything they can."

Six Oklahomans have filed two federal lawsuits that challenge a state law intended to crack down on protestors and that allege their civil rights were violated when they were arrested in Oklahoma City in 2020The anti-protest law is unconstitutionally broad and vague, according to one of the lawsuits filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City on behalf of Sincere Terry, Mia Hogsett, Tyreke Baker, Preston Nabors, Trevour Webb and Austin Mack by the American Civil Liberties Union.

Supporters said it was prompted mostly as a result of a pickup truck being driven through a crowd gathered on a Tulsa interstate in 2020 while protesting the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Several people were injured, including one who was paralyzed from the waist down after falling from an overpass.

The driver was not charged after the district attorney said people in the crowd had been throwing things at the vehicle.

A solidly conservative high court featuring three of Trump’s picks for justices made clear that rights clearly enshrined in the Constitution, like the 2nd Amendment, can’t be infringed while those, like abortion, for which the Constitution is silent are best left to the states to decide.

The rulings will fundamentally change America as states and communities that have tried to constrict Americans from carrying guns in public must yield, while those states wishing to constrict abortion such states as Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas will be able to do so and those wishing to have expansive access to abortion like California will have a green light too under the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

The ignition points for those decisions can be traced to two fateful historical moments involving two men who don’t always see eye to eye: Senate Leader Mitch McConnell’s refusal to confirm President Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court in 2016 and Trump’s insistence that his third nominee, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, be confirmed before the 2020 election.

"I think history will show the biggest accomplishment of the Trump administration was putting in a conservative Supreme Court," Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told Just the News on Friday. "Now we have that and I know there are a lot of people all across America who are rejoicing today.

US Long-Range Rocket Systems Used For First Time In Ukraine

Starting Thursday, Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov hailed the arrival of the longest-range missiles the United States has provided thus far in the four-month long war.

"HIMARS have arrived to Ukraine. Thank you to my colleague and friend SecDef Lloyd J. Austin III for these powerful tools! Summer will be hot for Russian occupiers. And the last one for some of them," Reznikov announced on Twitter.

The HIMARS, or High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, were announced as part of the latest $700 million weapons package to Ukraine on June 1. In total four of the systems will be transferred as part of the authorization, with the possibility of more in coming aid packages.

The HIMARS being provided to the Ukrainians are estimated to be able to hit targets about 50 miles away, which from the administration's standpoint marks a significant improvement in range, but still makes it unlikely the missiles could be used to strike within Russian territory, which Biden had expressly said he wants to avoid.

The US has said that Ukraine's military leadership has provided "assurances" it won't use the newly provided systems to attack Russian territory, amid persisting fears Washington and Moscow could enter direct conflict.

Reznikov announcement didn't specify how many HIMARS have arrived at this point, however, it didn't take long at all for Ukraine military observers to allege the US-supplied system has already appeared on the battlefield as of Friday...

Given that prior Pentagon statements indicated it would take at least three to four weeks to train Ukrainian forces on using the HIMARS - and given it seems the system has already rapidly been deployed - the likelihood is that Ukrainians had already been receiving training by US advisers in a neighboring country in anticipation of receiving them.

Pennsylvania principal faces 30 felony sex charges for relationship with student

A Pennsylvania high school principal was arrested and faces more than 30 felony sex charges for an inappropriate sexual relationship he had with a male student over a seven-year period.

Roger Weaver Freed, 34, was charged Tuesday with 30 counts of indecent sexual contact with a student, one count of sexual assault, one count of aggravated indecent assault, one count of corruption of a minor and three misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to court records.

Police said Freed began a relationship with the student, who is now college-age, in 2015 when the boy was in middle school. The relationship turned sexual two years later and continued after the student graduated high school up until a few months ago — when it ended in April, according to an affidavit.

The student told investigators that he first grew close to Freed after the death of a family member. He began to lean on the educator for emotional support and said “he trusted Free ‘like an older brother,'” the document states.

Their relationship soon grew to time outside of school, with Freed volunteering to give the student rides to various locations so they could have “one-on-one conversations.”

The student said he considered the educator and himself to be “bros” and said they could talk about anything, including his sexuality. They routinely texted, called and FaceTimed one another, police said.

In 2017, Freed and the student’s relationship became sexual and the principal asked the boy to promise not to tell anyone, stressing that he could lose his job.

The student said he felt “overwhelming guilt” after the first sexual encounter, according to the affidavit.

The pair continued to engage in sexual activity four to five times a week throughout the student’s next two years of high school. The student told police their relationship continued as he graduated high school and entered college.

Freed was arraigned Tuesday and released on supervision after making $175,000 bail. He is required to wear an ankle monitor at all times and is prohibited from having any contact with minors or the victim.

Freed, who is employed as a principal at Williamsport Area High School, has been suspended with pay by the school board, according to PennLive.

FBI raids Georgia churches near military bases; sources say church was targeting soldiers

The FBI on Thursday raided three churches associated with the House of Prayer Christian Church in Georgia and Texas.

The FBI has not released a statement regarding the raids.

The House of Prayer is owned by the foreign nonprofit company House of Prayer Christian Churches of America Inc., which registered with the Georgia Secretary of State in 2004. The business's listed officers are affiliated with the Georgia churches and use Hinesville, Georgia, post office boxes as mailing addresses.

Its churches, which are primarily located near military bases throughout the country, have been accused by former members and a veterans' advocacy group of operating like a cult and targeting soldiers.

In August 2020, Veterans Education Success, an advocacy organization based in Washington D.C., asked the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Georgia Veterans Service to investigate alleged abuses of the GI Bill program by House of Prayer Christian Church’s bible seminaries.

Veterans alleged the House of Prayer Christian Church "deceives the VA during inspections and targets veterans in order to access GI Bill funding, VA disability compensation, and VA home loans," according to the organization's letter to the VA and Georgia SAA.

Half a dozen FBI agents were seen in the back of the Assembly of Prayer church on Tobacco Road in Hephzibah during a raid that started at about 7:15 a.m. Thursday and continued into the afternoon.

According to a search of property records, House of Prayer Christian Churches owns 2952 Old Tobacco Road, the address of the Assembly of Prayer church in Richmond County.

At about 1 p.m., agents were seen using stairs at the back of the building during the investigation, according to Sgt. William McCarty with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

"We were there to assist them, but referring everything over to the FBI," said McCarty. He said he could not confirm if there were any arrests.

Wisconsin election investigator says he deleted records

The former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice hired to investigate President Joe Biden’s victory in the battleground state testified Thursday that he routinely deleted records, and deactivated a personal email account, even after receiving open records requests.

Michael Gableman testified in a court hearing about whether the person who hired him, Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, should face penalties after earlier being found in contempt for how he handled the records requests from American Oversight.

Dane County Circuit Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn decided against penalizing Vos for contempt, but said she would determine later whether to penalize Vos for how he handled open records requests. She set a hearing for July 28.

Bailey-Rihn said that Gableman gave testimony that conflicted at times, but it was clear that he had destroyed records “that were contrary to what fits into the scheme of things.”

Vos hired Gableman a year ago under pressure from Donald Trump to investigate the former president’s loss to Biden by just under 21,000 votes in Wisconsin. The investigation has cost taxpayers about $900,000 so far. Biden’s victory has survived two recounts, multiple lawsuits, a nonpartisan audit and a review by a conservative law firm.

Gableman testified Thursday that he did early work on the investigation at a Milwaukee-area library and used his personal email account. Gableman said he did not retain the notes he took during meetings he attended, including one in August in South Dakota hosted by MyPillow founder Mike Lindell. He also testified that he deleted records if there was no pending open records request and he determined it was not useful or pertinent to his work.

“Did I delete documents? Yes, I did,” he said.

Gableman testified that someone in his office deleted his personal Yahoo email account for him after he had received an open records request from American Oversight. Gableman had used that account last summer before he had an official state email address.

The judge asked Gableman if he had searched the account for responsive records before deleting it and he said, “I believe so.”

“Do I specifically recall going back, I don’t,” Gableman said. “But I would have looked at every email account available to me.”

Gableman also revealed that he had to go to the emergency room for COVID-19 after attending an election conference hosted by Lindell in South Dakota in August.

NTSB investigators will remove a helicopter’s wreckage from its southwest West Virginia crash site Friday after a fiery incident that killed six people, authorities said.

The helicopter crashed Wednesday in Logan County, near West Virginia's border with Kentucky, Ray Bryant, Logan Emergency Management Authority chief of operations, told USA TODAY.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found the Bell UH-1B helicopter in flames, Bryant said.

All people on board the aircraft died — the pilot, three passengers and with two pilot-rated passengers, said National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson Peter Knudson in an email. The victims’ names have not yet been released

Iran slams 'ridiculous Zionist accusation' of terror cell in Turkey

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid made a quick trip to Turkey to meet with the country's Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavusogluuin.

Iran's Foreign Ministry dismissed "baseless" reports it tried to target Israelis in Turkey as it accused Jerusalem of attempting to harm its ties with Ankara.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran’s response to the assassinations and acts of sabotage by the Zionist regime will always be definite, authoritative and without endangering the security of ordinary citizens or the security of other countries," the Iranian Foreign Ministry tweeted on Friday.

It spoke up one day after Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid made a quick trip to Turkey to meet with the country's Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavusogluuin after Turkish intelligence led to 10 arrests of members of an Iranian-backed terror cell in the Istanbul area.

Lapid spoke of the plot at a joint press conference he held with Çavusogluuin.

"Just today it was published that Turkish intelligence recently foiled an Iranian plot in Istanbul. We are full of appreciation," Lapid said.

"Iran is behind these terror attacks, intelligence leaves no doubt about it," he added.

It was the second trip by an Israeli official this year. Israel's President Isaac Herzog had visited Turkey in March, as part of the sudden warming of ties between the two countries whose governments have a history of tense relations.

The renewal of diplomatic contact comes as relations have chilled between Ankara and Tehran. Iran's blamed Israel for stoking that tension. The "baseless accusations [and] allegations made by the Zionist regime’s FM in Ankara at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart was “ridiculous” and part of a pre-planned scenario to deteriorate the relations between the two Muslim countries," Iran's Foreign Ministry tweeted.

Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lior Haiat tweeted back that it was best if Iran refrained from fiddling with accusations and focused on facts.

A couple of years ago a San Diego-based group called Latina Muslim Foundation began raising funds to build the shelter “in response to the growing number of Muslim migrants south of the border,” according to a local news report. The 8,000-square-foot facility, which opened over the weekend, can accommodate “up to 150 asylum-seekers,” and will offer Muslim migrants housing, medical care, halal meals and legal services as they wait to enter the U.S. in the famously violent Mexican city that borders California.

Judicial Watch has for years reported on the increasing number of Muslim migrants—including from terrorist nations—entering the U.S. through the Mexican border and the timing of this influx could not be worse, during a record-breaking month for the U.S. Border Patrol. European Commission vows to examine gas price cap by September: Italy

The European Commission has promised to study the Italian initiative to impose a price cap on Russian gas purchases by September so that it can be discussed at the EU leaders' summit in October, Italy’s Prime Minister Mario Draghi said on Friday.

'Stay tuned': Blinken on possible encounter with Lavrov in Bali

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the G20 ministerial in Bali next month is not out of the question.

"I won't get ahead of that. Stay tuned," Blinken said.

Indonesia, which is hosting the club this year, confirmed that it had already invited Moscow and that Putin would attend.

The G20 Summit will take place on July 7-8 in Bali.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Blinken added that the US and its European allies continue to discuss diplomatic strategies with Ukraine regarding Russia's special military operation, while also strengthening Kiev's position on the battlefield.

"We'll keep discussing diplomatic strategies with Ukraine with our allies and partners, we'll keep strengthening Ukraine's position on the battlefield so it has the strongest possible position at any negotiating table," Blinken told reporters in Berlin.

Blinken went on to say that the US is ready to support any diplomatic solution to the Ukraine conflict, but that Russia appears to be uninterested.

On the global food crisis, he refuted Russia’s stance that the sanctions imposed on Moscow by the United States and its allies are causing the current food scarcity.

"This narrative that Russia has been pushing out, that somehow our sanctions are contributing to food scarcity, that that is entirely wrong," Blinken said.

It is worth noting that many experts have recently warned that the reckless US sanctions campaign on Russia has triggered global inflation, which could take years for the world to recover from.

CDC Admits It Never Monitored VAERS for COVID Vaccine Safety Signals

In response to a Freedom of Information Request submitted by Children’s Health Defense, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week admitted it never analyzed the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System for safety signals for COVID-19 vaccines.

In a stunning development, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week admitted — despite assurances to the contrary — the agency never analyzed the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) for safety signals for COVID-19 vaccines.

The admission was revealed in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted by Children’s Health Defense (CHD).

In September 2021, I published an article in The Defender in which I used the CDC’s published methodology to analyze VAERS for safety signals from COVID-19 vaccines.

The signals were loud and clear, leading me to wonder “why is nobody listening?”

Instead, I should have asked, “Is anybody even looking for them?”

After that article was published, I urged CHD’s legal team to submit a FOIA request to the CDC about its VAERS monitoring activities.

Since CDC officials stated publicly that “COVID-19 vaccine safety monitoring is the most robust in U.S. history,” I had assumed that at the very least, CDC officials were monitoring VAERS using the methods they described in a briefing document posted on the CDC website in January 2021 (and updated in February 2022, with minor changes).

I was wrong.

The lynchpin of their safety monitoring was to mine VAERS data for safety signals by calculating what are known as proportional reporting ratios (PRR’s).

This is a method of comparing the proportion of different types of adverse events reported for a new vaccine to the proportion of those events reported for an older, established vaccine.

If the new vaccine shows a significantly higher reporting rate of a particular adverse event relative to the old one, it counts as a safety signal that should then trigger a more thorough investigation.

The briefing document states, “CDC will perform PRR data mining on a weekly basis or as needed.”

And yet, in the agency’s response to the FOIA request, it wrote that “no PRRs were conducted by CDC. Furthermore, data mining is outside of the agency’s purview.”

The agency suggested contacting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which was supposed to perform a different type of data mining, according to the briefing document.

One of the largest military installations in the world, Fort Bragg is home to approximately 54,000 military personnel and includes the Special Forces, the Airborne Corps, and the Joint Special Operations Command. In just 18 months, Fort Bragg lost over 80 soldiers from “sudden” and “unexplained” causes. According to officials, 33 of the fatalities are of “undetermined” causes. Fort Bragg cannot explain why dozens of soldiers are dying in their own bunks.

During that same eighteen-month period, three Fort Bragg soldiers died in overseas combat. This means soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg are twenty-seven times more likely to die unexpectedly on their home base than in overseas combat!

An investigative reporter for Rolling Stone Magazine, Seth Harp, has been looking into this medical anomaly. On February 9, 2022, Seth reported the death of 83 soldiers at Fort Bragg in the 18 months ending in June 2021. Fort Bragg stopped reporting the fatalities after June 2021, but the bodies continue to pile up. Out of the 83 “sudden and unexpected” fatalities, eleven of them were determined to be from natural causes.

Harp wrote: “Fort Bragg soldiers have been turning up ‘unresponsive’ in their barracks on a disturbingly regular basis since the beginning of 2020, including Caleb Smither, Terrance Salazar, Jamie Boger, Joshua Diamond, Matthew Disney, Mikel Rubino, Michael Hamilton, and numerous others who have not been named.”

Drugs were in involved in the deaths of Joshua Diamon and Matthew Disney. The two were found dead on the same day in June 2021, just two weeks after airborne master sergeant Martin Acevedo III was caught trafficking cocaine.

Drugs are only a small part of the problem. In January of 2021, Army captain Robert Latham died suddenly of an “apparent heart attack.” The 32-year-old was previously in top physical condition. A Green Beret named Calvin Rockward passed away from a “sudden, unexpected medical event.” The 38-year-old was in excellent physical condition, too.

According to Seth, nine more young and fit soldiers were found “unresponsive” in their bunks. The U.S. Army and Fort Bragg refuse to investigate or report on the surge in deaths, disrespecting the soldiers and their families. Could there be a serious drug problem going on at Fort Bragg? Could these deaths indicate a surge in suicides and overdoses?

The military continues to be assaulted by mandates that harm soldiers physically and mentally. The vaccine mandates damage combat readiness, while banishing the strongest, healthiest freedom fighters from the ranks.

Pro-abortion activists were filmed handing out the home address of Justice Clarence Thomas to outraged protesters outside the Supreme Court.

Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in a concurring opinion regarding Roe v. Wade that it is time to reiterate his view that the due process clause does not protect a right to an abortion. He also stated that the court “should reconsider” previous rulings from SCOTUS codifying rights to contraception access, same-sex relationships and same-sex marriage.

Justice Thomas wrote, “…in future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell. Because any substantive due process decision is demonstrably erroneous.”

Former President Barack Obama and multiple other Democrat politicians have called for protests in response.

Here is the short version of how the trick was done.

The gun control bill was not filed in the ordinary course with the clerk, was not given a senate bill number, and was not referred to the appropriate committee for consideration, a hearing, and a “markup” of the bill before it would go to the floor for further action. There were only occasional news stories about the “negotiators” getting closer to an agreement.

Then on Tuesday, 21 June 2022, the senate website of John Cornyn announced the bipartisan legislation and provided a “discussion draft” of a proposed bill. That Tuesday night, the Senate met and news reports the next day said a vote had been taken, but a bill was nowhere in sight on the Congress website. The senate clerk’s description of what happened Tuesday night only had bill number S.2938, and the numbers of a few amendments. None of the amendments had a description by its number that mentioned a gun bill. S.2938 was described only as “S.2938 – A bill to designate the United States Courthouse and Federal Building located at 111 North Adams Street in Tallahassee, Florida, as the ‘Joseph Woodrow Hatchett United States Courthouse and Federal Building’, and for other purposes”. The Congress website had the following web page for Senate bill S.2938–

That webpage above did not have the text of the gun bill. It only had the text of the bill to name the courthouse and building in Florida.

I finally found the real text of the gun bill — not the misleading “discussion draft” — by using the number of one of the amendments proposed Tuesday night and tracing it into the Congressional Record bulletin for Tuesday that was published the next day, Wednesday, 22 June. There, in the fine print beginning on the second column of page S3034 and going to page S3042, was the actual proposed legislation itself. It starts at the top of the second column under “Text of Amendments” and “SA 5099”, which is the number of the amendment to the old bill, S.2938. Amendment number 5099 contains the gun bill. The Senate did more procedural activity on the proposed law on Wednesday, 22 June. Then on Thursday, 23 June 2022, came the big push to jam the bill through. A vote on cloture to stop a filibuster passed at 11:52 a.m. eastern time by 65-34, with one senator not voting. The senate’s description of that roll call vote still called the proposal, “Measure Title: A bill to designate the United States Courthouse and Federal Building located at 111 North Adams Street in Tallahassee, Florida, as the ‘Joseph Woodrow Hatchett United States Courthouse and Federal Building’, and for other purposes”. Forging ahead, the Senate had the up-or-down vote needing a simple majority, and it passed at 9:42 p.m. eastern time, by 65-33, with two senators not voting. From the time the gun bill was slipped in as an amendment to an unrelated bill Tuesday night, and hidden in the multi-page Congressional Record that was not published until Wednesday, to the time it passed the Senate Thursday night, was about a scant 48 hours.

Only after the clandestine and devious act was done with the final vote of passage, did the senate’s website page with the final roll call vote change the description to, “Measure Title: An act to make our communities safer”. Later in the night, after the final vote, the original description for S.2938 on the Congress website disappeared and was replaced by that Big Lie.

TikTok Quietly Reverses Ban On Pro-Abortion Group Using App To Protest Outside SCOTUS Justice Homes.

The Chinese Communist Party-linked social media platform TikTok quietly reversed its ban on a radical pro-abortion group using the app to organize protests outside conservative Supreme Court Justices’ homes.

The group – Ruth Sent Us – champions a variety of left-wing causes, with its core tenets comprising “Women Deserve Trust; Black Lives Matter; Love Is Love, and No Human Is Illegal.”

“Our 6-3 extremist Supreme Court routinely issues rulings that hurt women, racial minorities, LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights. We must rise up to force accountability using a diversity of tactics,” explains the group’s website. The group became one of the leading organizers for far-left activists seeking to halt the U.S. Supreme Court’s potential decision to landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to a leaked initial draft majority opinion.

Among the platforms the group actively uses to organize protestors is TikTok, a controversial social media platform due to its deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

TikTok’s parent company ByteDance employs former Chinese Communist Party officials, including individuals with military ties, to executive roles and grants party members preferential treatment in hiring processes. Its founder has also pledged to use ByteDance to “promote socialist core values” and devotion to the Chinese Communist Party, which recently acquired an official stake in the company.

Ruth Sent Us’s ability to use a foreign-controlled social media app to intimidate American Supreme Court Justices was briefly impeded when TikTok banned the group on May 14th, reportedly due to complaints about the group using the app to organize demonstrators. Just two days later, however, TikTok lifted the ban on the group without offering any explanation.

““GREAT NEWS: our TikTok @ruthsent which was ‘permanently banned’ due to mass reporting is back up due to mass appeals! There’s more of us than them. Take that, haters!” wrote the group on Twitter.

Since the ban was lifted, Ruth Sent Us has posted dozens of TikToks aimed at organizing protesters to intimidate Supreme Court Justices, including marching directly outside the homes of several conservative Justices.

The group has used the platform to raise funds for travel expenses for protesters’ “rides to the suburbs” home to Supreme Court Justices.

Revelations that the Vatican encouraged the castration of choir boys in the name of art for hundreds of years have prompted calls for a papal apology.

Human rights groups, historians and Italian commentators said the Pope, a singer himself, should ask forgiveness for his predecessors' role in the mutilation of castrati singers.

New research suggests that the employment of castrati was tolerated by the Vatican as late as 1959, long after other states had banned it as barbaric.

From the 16th century onwards generations of Italian boys were castrated in the hope that their voices, prevented from breaking, would combine a child's high register with the vocal power of a man.

Their ability to sing beyond normal human limits enraptured opera-goers, emperors and popes, who commissioned a choir of castrati to perform in the Sistine chapel. An edict by St Paul prevented women singing in church.

Successful castrati such as Farinelli - the subject of Gérard Corbiau's 1994 film - became Europe-wide superstars, feted by composers such as Handel, but most failed to make the grade and were cast aside, devastated and useless even as circus freaks.

According to Angels Against their Will, a new book by the German historian Hubert Ortkemper, the castrato Alessandro Moreschi performed in the Sistine chapel until 1913. Other historians suspect that Domenico Mancini, another private pontifical singer who performed from 1939 to 1959, was a castrato, too.

Officially the Vatican always condemned the practice, which is thought to have started around 1500, and punished castrators with excommunication. In 1902 it issued a decree banning castrati from the Sistine chapel.

But such was the beauty and power of their singing that successive popes sponsored the phenomenon by employing them on the pretext that they were accidentally castrated, for example by falling from a horse or by an animal bite.

Italy's leading newspaper, Corriere della Sera, said the Pope, whose CD recordings have sold millions, should follow up his admission of church wrongs against Jews, Muslims and scientists by expressing sorrow for the castrati.

"Despite the willingness to address just about any issue, the current pope has yet to confront an unresolved problem of musical history. Why doesn't he suggest prayers and remorse for the church's past connivance with the practice of castrating males?"

Human rights activists and academics endorsed the call. Amnesty International said the value of recognising past wrongs in an apology should not be underestimated.

"Many of those afflicted by ongoing human rights abuses - including genital mutilations of women and rape as torture - desperately desire official recognition of the terrible wrongs done to them. An apology from those involved may be the hardest thing of all to achieve, and the most valued."

Nicholas Davidson, an Oxford University expert on papal history, said: "If the Pope was going to be consistent, and if there was evidence that church officials operated in an improper way, then an apology should be made."

The promise of a lucrative career persuaded many poor Italian parents to castrate sons with musical talent, despite the fact that the operation often produced gigantism and obese bottoms and legs.

No records were kept, but historians believe many operations to remove testicles - achieved by slitting the groin and severing the spermatic chord - were botched, leaving boys in agony and in danger of infection. The lucky ones survived and were good enough for years of intensive training and cossetting at musical academies.

Pope Sisto V, aware that the public craved the "voice of angels", sanctioned their presence in the Vatican by a papal bull in 1589.

Audiences fainted and wept during performances and groupies wore medallions of their favourites, but in the 18th century the practice was gradually acknowledged to be grotesque.

Zakharova: Nato balancing on the brink of direct armed conflict

According to Russian foreign ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, the European Union's aggressive approach regarding their "unrestrained expansion", especially in their recent granting of Ukraine and Moldova EU candidacy, carries the potential for the emergence of new, deeper divides and crises in Europe.

"Such an aggressive approach by the European Union obviously carries the potential for the emergence of new, deeper lines of split and crises in Europe as a whole. Such a policy of Brussels has nothing to do with the real needs of the inhabitants of Ukraine and the EU countries," Zakharova said, pointing to the EU summit which came down to the recent decisions.

Yesterday, European Union leaders have agreed to grant both Ukraine and Moldova the EU candidacy status in a show of support from the EU as part of their positions in the proxy war taking place in Ukraine.

The decision to grant the two nations EU candidacy puts the two ex-Soviet nations on the long path toward joining the EU bloc. A series of steps have been laid out by the EU for Kiev to take, including the reinforcement of the rule of law and fighting corruption.

Ukraine applied for the EU membership on February 28, shortly after Russia launched its military operation. It was followed by Georgia and Moldova, which decided to fast-track submission of their applications and similarly received the EU questionnaire in mid-April.

"Russia never threatened anyone with nuclear weapons"

Zakharova went on to say that Moscow has never threatened anyone with nuclear weapons, and that Moscow's approach in using nuclear weapons hypothetically is based only on a deterrence logic.

This week in Vienna, a conference the first of its kind, hosted the representatives of the 86 signatories of the Treaty of Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The signatories, however, are neither NATO members, nor possessors of nuclear weapons.

"The statements made one day before of the Conference of the [TPNW] States Parties in the context of the Ukrainian conflict regarding 'mutual threats to use nuclear weapons,' as well as individual statements from the rostrum of the conference about Russia's alleged 'nuclear blackmail' cannot but arouse bewilderment. We emphasize again: no 'nuclear threats' have ever been and are not heard from Russia," the statement says.

According to Zakharova, "Russian approaches are based solely on the logic of deterrence, including in the current conditions, when the NATO countries that provoked the aggravation of the Ukrainian crisis and unleashed a hybrid campaign against Russia and proclaimed themselves a 'nuclear alliance' are dangerously balancing on the brink of a direct armed conflict."

"Whether someone likes it or not, as long as nuclear weapons exist, the logic of deterrence remains an effective way to prevent nuclear clashes and large-scale wars. Distortion for propaganda purposes of the essence of Russian policy in this area — which is based on the postulate of the inadmissibility of nuclear war — is absolutely unacceptable," she added.

Nuclear weapons number continues to increase globally: SIPRI

In 2021, the nine nuclear powers had 12,330 nuclear warheads. Now in 2022, Britain, China, France, India, "Israel", North Korea, Pakistan, the United States, and Russia had 12,705 nuclear warheads. In total, the world has 375 fewer nuclear warheads according to estimates by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

In 1986, the total number of nuclear warheads was higher than 70,000 as the US and Russia have gradually reduced their massive arsenals. But this era of disarmament appears to be approaching an end and the risk of nuclear escalation is remerging, for the first time since the Cold-war era.

"Soon, we're going to get to the point where, for the first time since the end of the Cold War, the global number of nuclear weapons in the world could start increasing for the first time", one of the co-authors of the SIPRI report, Matt Korda, told AFP.

Iran's Raisi to make speech at BRICS+ meeting

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has been invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping, as the periodic BRICS president, to attend the BRICS Summit 2022, along with several countries known as BRICS Plus.

Raisi will outline Tehran's standpoint on international issues as well as the development of trade and economic cooperation with other states.

BRICS is the acronym coined to associate five major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

Set to be hosted in Beijing, the summit holds BRICS countries' emerging economies, which make up around 25% of the global GDP and 40% of the population.

In televised remarks at the BRICS leaders' virtual summit, referring to the Western sanctions that pummeled Russia, Putin said that "only on the basis of honest and mutually beneficial cooperation can we look for ways out of this crisis situation, which developed in the global economy because of the ill-conceived, selfish actions of certain states."

Within the framework of the BRICS, the heads of the member states' space agencies held the first joint committee meeting on space cooperation in a video call, as announced by the China National Space Administration in late May.

A week earlier, foreign ministers from the BRICS group of developing economies discussed measures to strengthen the regional and international collaboration among the five nations.

The organization's members are known for their significant influence on regional affairs. Since 2009, the governments of the BRICS states have met annually at formal summits.

So far, Iran is the only country from West Asia to attend the summit.

Putin responds to claims about world hunger

The Russian president says Moscow is not impeding Ukraine’s grain exports after Berlin accused it of weaponizing hunger

Western nations are deliberately stirring up tensions regarding Ukrainian grain exports, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday during a BRICS+ video conference. He was responding to comments by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who has accused Moscow of holding the whole world “hostage” by blocking Ukrainian grain shipments.

Putin said Russia is not impeding exports, and criticized the West for its “cynical attitude” towards the food supply of the developing nations, which have been worst affected by soaring prices. He said rising inflation in the West was “a result of their own irresponsible macroeconomic policies.”

Moscow is ready to provide free passage to international waters for ships carrying grain, Putin said, adding that Russia had reached an “understanding” on that issue with the UN Secretariat.

The Russian president suggested that the Ukrainian military should demine the country’s ports to further facilitate exports, however, and said “a constructive approach on Kiev’s part” is the only thing that is lacking.

According to the president, Russia itself may be able to export between 37 and 50 tons of grain this year.

Earlier on Friday, Baerbock blamed Moscow for the looming food crisis at a conference in Berlin. Russia is “deliberately” using global hunger as “a weapon,” the minister said, claiming that Moscow had taken “the whole world hostage.”

The German minister also spoke about a potentially “life-threatening wave” of hunger that the world is facing, since around 345 million people are currently threatened by food shortages. The crisis has been a result of a number of factors like droughts and various regional conflicts, as well as the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic, Baerbock admitted. However, she claimed it was Russia that “made a tsunami out of this wave.”

Her words have sparked an angry reaction from Moscow. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said on Telegram that “using hunger as a weapon” is “Germany’s historical tradition,” apparently referring to crimes committed by the Nazis. Former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, also pointed to the blockade of the city of Leningrad (St. Petersburg) by the Nazis during World War II, which lasted for 900 days, causing massive hunger in the city, and claiming the lives of almost 700,000 people.

UNRWA warns funding will run out by September

Commissioner-General of UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini said, on Friday, that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) may run out of funds by September, resulting in a $100 million budget shortfall by the end of the year.

"So today, I can say … we can run our operation until September. Beyond September, I have absolutely no visibility. I do not know if we will get the necessary cash to allow us to pay the salaries as for the month of September," Lazzarini told a briefing.

"The expected shortfall based on what we have received, what has been confirmed in terms of pledges yesterday, and based on our best information between now and the end of the year is $100 million-plus," he continued.

Lazzarini stated that financial difficulties caused by Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine have impacted donors' ability to fund the organization.

"And now there is a Ukrainian question - we will know better at the end of the year how much it will impact the agency. We have already some donors that have warned us that we might not have the traditional top-up at the end of the year," the official added.

The United Nations General Assembly held its annual pledging conference in support of UNRWA on Thursday, with member states collectively confirming $160 million in pledges. According to Lazzarini, the UNRWA budget shortfall is similar each year, but prices have risen, making it "unbearable."

It is noteworthy that over five million Palestinians are registered as refugees with UNRWA.

Russia close to ditching the Dollar completely

Russia will have no use for the US dollar in the foreseeable future, according to the head of the State Duma Financial Market Committee, Anatoly Aksakov.

The lawmaker explained that Western sanctions against Russia make it impossible for the country to purchase many American and European goods, which “makes their currencies useless.”

“Maybe, no one will need the dollar at all because of such American policies. And the ruble will be in demand. We are already selling gas for rubles. The President [Vladimir Putin] recently signed a decree allowing payments of foreign debt in rubles. We don’t need dollars if we can’t spend them,” Aksakov said.

Earlier this week, President Putin signed a decree establishing a temporary procedure for sovereign debt repayments. The bond-payment procedure mirrors the ruble scheme proposed by Moscow for sales of Russian gas in response to sanctions imposed by many Western states.

Findings suggest Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh killed by Israeli forces, says UN human rights office

Information reviewed by the UN human rights office suggests Israeli security forces fired the shots that killed Palestinian-American reporter Shireen Abu Akleh in May, not indiscriminate firing from Palestinians, a spokesperson says.

The UN rights office conducted its own "monitoring" of the incident, examining video from the incident, as well as consulting experts and interviewing witnesses

Israel claims Ms Abu Akleh was killed during an exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Palestinian gunmen

"It is deeply disturbing that Israeli authorities have not conducted a criminal investigation," Ravina Shamdasani told a briefing in Geneva.

Israeli and Palestinians officials have exchanged recriminations over the incident that also led to violent scenes at Ms Abu Akleh's funeral when Israeli police officers charged at mourners.

On Friday, the Israeli Defences Forces (IDF) said it was committed to investigating Ms Abu Akleh's death and called on the Palestinian authorities to share access to the bullet that killed her.

However, the Palestinian Authority has refused to hand over the bullet, saying it does not trust Israel.

"The results of the UN investigation confirm once again what we said from the start: that Israel is responsible for the killing of the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh and it must be held accountable for this crime," a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said.

Ms Shamdasani said the UN rights office had conducted its own "monitoring" of the incident — she declined to use the word "investigation" — and had gone through photographic, video and audio material.

It had also visited the scene, consulted experts, reviewed official communications and interviewed witnesses, she said.

"All information we have gathered — including official information from the Israeli military and the Palestinian Attorney-General — is consistent with the finding that the shots that killed Abu Akleh and injured her colleague Ali Sammoudi came from Israeli Security Forces and not from indiscriminate firing by armed Palestinians, as initially claimed by Israeli authorities," she said.

Germany to send PzH 2000 howitzers to Ukraine

In response to Ukraine's pleas for more heavy weaponry, Germany will send Kiev two to three more self-propelled Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers, according to German media on Friday.

Ukraine has been asking Europe for 18 German-made PzH 2000 howitzers to fully arm their artillery battalion, according to the DPA news agency. Germany has sent 7 howitzers and the Netherlands donated 5.

According to DPA, citing people close to the German Foreign Ministry, Berlin told Kiev it would give a few more weapons as long as other EU partners joined the procurement plans.

The German foreign ministry has been in contact with Amsterdam and other countries to get 6 more 155mm weapons to Kiev.

Russia has recently warned that any military cargoes will be dealt with like military targets.

Half of Germans oppose sending heavy weapons to Ukraine

In April, according to the German Institute for New Social Answers, half of Germans are against delivering heavy arms to Ukraine, while 43% of respondents are in support of the deliveries. The poll comes at the request of Bild, a German news outlet.

Another poll, though similar, was held by the German Institute for Social Research and Statistical Analysis, Forsa. The poll showed that 51% of Germans supported delivering offensive arms to Ukraine, while 37% stood against it.

Earlier on April, 20 prominent cultural figures, German scientists, and politicians, including former Bundestag VP, Antje Vollmer, sent an open letter to Olaf Scholz to stop sending arms to Ukraine.

Those that sent the letter said that "Germany and other NATO countries have de facto made themselves a party to the war by delivering weapons," therefore Ukraine became "a battlefield for a conflict between NATO and Russia over the security order in Europe."

Scholz said that Germany will no longer be supplying weapons to Ukraine, as the German weapon inventories are too exhausted.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The former Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot an unarmed woman who called 911 to report a possible sexual assault in the alley behind her home is scheduled to be released from prison next week, months after his murder conviction was overturned and he was resentenced on a lesser charge.

Mohamed Noor, 36, is scheduled to be released from custody Monday, according to online Department of Corrections records.

Noor was initially convicted of third-degree murder and manslaughter in the 2017 fatal shooting of Justine Ruszczyk Damond, a 40-year-old dual U.S.-Australian citizen and yoga teacher who was engaged to be married. One aspect that seems to be overlooked is the fact that they went back to basics with the law rather than use 'stare decisis' or legal precedent [Latin, Let the decision stand.] The policy of courts to abide by or adhere to principles established by decisions in earlier cases.
