1st witness was SSA Martin, the FBI technical expert the govt called to explain DNS stuff & some other things to the jury. 2nd was another FBI SSA - Hellman. /

He & his supervisor were the first FBI personnel to look technically at what Sussman provided. They are at FBI Cybersecurity Division (Chantilly, VA). Drove to DC the day after the Sussman/Baker meeting to pick up data & do chain of custody.

Interesting tidbit:He was “frustrated” because Baker WOULDN’T tell him who he got the data from! even for the Chain of Custody and the “Greensheet” (FBI form for identifying evidence owners). Baker didn’t complete the Custody form - Hellman initiated it.

The stuff - data on a thumb drive & a summary with conclusions - went from Baker to Strzok to DepAssDirCyber (Sporag?ph) to his supervisor Batty(?ph) and then on to others.

He and Batty didn’t know when they did their analysis who had provided the stuff. They were given two tasks to do ASAP and to prepare a summary and then forwarded stuff to FBI Chicago - which opened an investigation.

Hellman/Batty quickly concluded (1) there was no evidence supporting “cyber equity” meaning no evidence of a crime that fell within their jurisdiction, and (2) that they disagreed with the conclusions in the ”white paper” summary. Took them less than a day to prepare summary.

The white paper alleged Trump was using a “secret email server” further described as “a very unusually configured email server” & that the “only” conclusion to be drawn from the data provided was that it’s purpose was to shield communications between Trump & Russia.

Helllman/Batty separately & together decided that conclusion was not supported by the data and allegations. They thought the paper leapt to illogical conclusions not supported by the data, that the methodology was questionable, and that the ultimate conclusion didn’t make sense.

On the last point, the specifically pointed out that it made no sense to conclude the effort was “secret” when the email domain name had “Trump” in the name, that domain was registered to a Trump entity, & that the contact was directly w/a Russian entity.

He testified those facts don’t suggest a “secret anything.” Also, they opined that - based on prior experience with it - Russian technical sophistication exceeded the OPSEC for what was found in the data.

Basically, they concluded: this is a bunch of nonsense and if there was such an effort, the Russians would have done a way better job than this half-assed effort. (My paraphrasing. 😆)

The also found it very “coincidental” and suspicious that the supposed evidence began only 3 weeks before the effort to uncover it began.

REVEALED: BLM founder Patrisse Cullors paid her baby father $970,000 for 'creative services', her brother $840,000 for security, a fellow director $2.1m and reimbursed the organization $73,000 for a charter flight

Newly released tax filings revealed how Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors used charity funds to pay her friends and family large sums for various 'consulting' services, as well as charter a private flight.

The documents reveal that BLM paid a company owned by Damon Turner, the father of Cullors' child, nearly $970,000 to help 'produce live events' and provide other 'creative services.'

Leaders have attempted to justify the expense by saying the foundation's protection could not be entrusted to former police professionals who typically run security firms because the BLM movement is known for vehemently protesting law enforcement organizations.

A consulting firm run by Shalomyah Bowers, who is BLM's board secretary and has previously served as deputy executive director, was paid more than $2.1 million for providing the organization with operational support, including staffing, fundraising and other key services.

Cullors resigned from BLM last year amid a wave of scrutiny surrounding the charity's finances.

She has repeatedly denied claims that she took money from BLM for personal matters and has reiterated that all the purchases and transactions - including a lavish $6million home in Los Angeles, dubbed Studio City - were legitimate.

The new filing also revealed that Cullors reimbursed BLM $73,523 for a charter flight for foundation-related travel, which the organization says she took in 2021 out of concern for COVID-19 and security threats.

She paid the foundation an additional $390 over her uses of the 6,500 square-foot Studio City property for two private events.

The latest financial disclosures come after Cullors had already come under fire for receiving a $120,000 payment - 'consulting fees' - by BLM.

World’s Richest Family Loses $17 Billion in Walmart Wipeout

The Walton family fortune tumbled more than $16.5 billion on Tuesday after Walmart Inc. slashed its profit outlook. Walmart, controlled by the family, fell as much as 11% in New York trading after the Bentonville, Arkansas-based company reported earnings that lagged analysts’ estimates. Soaring inflation heaped pressure on the retailing giant’s profit margins in the first quarter, testing the company’s appetite to raise prices. The family’s late patriarch, Sam Walton, centered the business around a discount ethos that has in the past helped buoy its stock during recessionary times. Walton’s three surviving children, Alice, Jim and Rob, daughter-in-law Christy and Christy’s son, Lukas, own just under half the retailer, giving them a combined net worth of about $214 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The family, which owns its stake through various trusts, has stepped up its stock sales in recent years. They unloaded $6.2 billion in shares last year, which the company has said is part of a strategy to keep the family’s stake under 50% amid buybacks.

Those disposals have helped the Waltons accumulate significant wealth outside their Walmart stake. An investment firm for the family invests mostly in low-cost exchange-traded funds and held about $5.1 billion in US stocks and ETFs at the end of the first quarter.

That’s armed them with ample funds for acquisitions. Rob Walton is said to be bidding for the Denver Broncos, the first National Football League team to be up for sale in four years. It’s expected to sell for more than $4 billion.

Holyoke City Councilor Puello-Mota, charged with possession of child porn, arrested on new charges in Rhode Island

HOLYOKE — In January 2021, Rhode Island prosecutors charged Holyoke City Councilor Wilmer “Will” Puello-Mota with possession of child pornography after allegedly finding sexually explicit photos and videos of a 17-year-old girl on his phone in 2020.

Puello-Mota, who was 24 at the time of his arrest in September 2020, pleaded not guilty to the felony charge in January 2021, was released on bail and was working with his lawyers either to have the case diverted or converted to an offense that wouldn’t require him to register as a sex offender, according to court documents. State prosecutors were amenable to those requests, provided that Puello-Mota meet certain conditions, including that he prove his supervisors in the Massachusetts Air National Guard were knowledgeable of the charge and supported his continued service, the records say.

But last week, Puello-Mota was rearrested on two more charges — obstruction of justice as well as forgery and counterfeiting — after he allegedly forged his military supervisor’s signature on a fraudulent military memo to Rhode Island prosecutors, according to a recently filed affidavit and arrest warrant from police in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Puello-Mota is now being held without bail for allegedly violating his terms of release. Attempts to reach him by phone call and email were unsuccessful Monday, though he is in custody. Robert Rizzuto, a spokesperson for the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, confirmed Tuesday that Puello-Mota is currently incarcerated at the Hampden County Correctional Center in Ludlow.

A message left with the law office of Puello-Mota’s attorney, Robert Munns, went unreturned Monday.

Puello-Mota is a staff sergeant in the Air National Guard, stationed at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield. He ran for an at-large seat on the City Council in 2019 but was not elected. Last year, he ran unopposed for the vacant Ward 2 seat and was sworn in this year.

According to Warwick police narratives submitted to Kent County Superior Court, officers responded to a hotel room on May 30, 2020, after a gun was reported stolen from the room. When they arrived, a 17-year-old girl told officers that the gun was Puello-Mota’s and that he was her “sugar daddy,” the documents allege. Police allege that Puello-Mota initially told them he had met the juvenile online, initially believing she was 22, and had not had any sexual contact with her.

The conference took place in July 2021 and was supposed to be a way to “learn more about the issues facing the trans community.”

However, Christopher Rufo reveals the conference went far beyond that.

The sexually explicit content was directed at minor children (grooming) – a presenter who hosted one of the sessions said “there is no age limit, because I feel like everybody should be able to access certain information.”

Nobody will be held accountable for an airstrike that killed up to 64 civilians, a report states

An internal Pentagon investigation has found that a 2019 airstrike that killed up to 64 civilians in Syria did not violate US rules of engagement or the law of war, and was not carried out with “wanton disregard.” Some military officers considered the incident, which the Pentagon still maintains was necessary to take out ISIS fighters, a war crime.

On March 18, 2019, a US F-15E fighter jet dropped a bomb on “a large crowd of women and children huddled against a river bank” near the Syrian town of Baghuz and then proceeded to drop several more, killing survivors, according to a New York Times report published last November.

US Central Command admitted that the strike killed 80 people, of which only 16 were alleged Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorists. The military admitted to killing four civilians, but insisted that the remaining 60 may have been terrorists, as “women and children in the Islamic State sometimes took up arms.”

American aid to Kiev goes to NGOs run by “friends and families” of US politicians, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claims

The financial support America provides to Ukraine looks very much “like money laundering schemes,” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has told ‘The Truth With Lisa Boothe’ podcast on Monday. The money supposedly destined for Ukrainians ends up in the pockets of “non-profits and NGOs” that are often run by people close to the politicians in Washington, Greene has claimed.

“They want to get $40 billion to Ukraine and you have these $40 billion on top of the money that have already been given. That brings it to $53 billion. That is over two thirds of the State Department’s entire budget for the year,” the congresswoman said, referring to the latest aid package that is currently going through the US Senate.

According to Greene, the US officials are doing this to eventually fund the NGOs operated by “their families and friends.” “It is basically like money laundering schemes,” she said.

The congresswoman believes these funds should be spent to deal with issues inside the US instead, including homelessness or human trafficking, which, according to Greene, have reached “record-high” levels.

A Tory MP has been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual offences spanning seven years.

The unnamed politician remains in custody relating to allegations of sexual offences between 2002 and 2009, Scotland Yard has confirmed.

The MP has been asked not to attend Parliament while the police probe is ongoing by Tory chief whip Chris Heaton Harris.

It is understood the Conservatives will not make a decision on whether the suspect has the whip suspended until after the investigation is concluded.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "In January 2020, the Met received a report relating to alleged sexual offences having been committed between 2002 and 2009.

"The offences are alleged to have occurred in London.

"An investigation is ongoing, led by officers from Central Specialist Crime."

Scotland Yard added the man "was arrested on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in public office. He remains in custody."

A Conservative whips office spokesperson said: "The Chief Whip has asked that the MP concerned does not attend the Parliamentary Estate while an investigation is ongoing.

"Until the conclusion of the investigation we will not be commenting further.”

The allegations emerged after a fresh wave of recriminations about allegations of abuse in Westminster.

Tory MP Imran Ahmad Khan finally quit earlier this month after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in 2008.

His departure triggers a by-election next month in his Wakefield seat.

Some 56 MPs have reportedly been referred to Parliament's Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) over about 70 separate complaints, according to the Sunday Times.

US recruits ISIS terrorists to fight in Ukraine, Russian intel says

The SVR claims that Washington is “ready to use any means,” including hiring ISIS fighters as mercenaries

The US has been “actively recruiting” terrorists to fight in Ukraine, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) claimed on Tuesday, saying that it illustrates Washington’s readiness “to use any means to achieve its geopolitical goals.”

The SVR revealed in a statement that, according to the intelligence it is receiving, “the United States is actively recruiting even members of international terrorist organizations, including the Islamic State (ISIS) group banned in the Russian Federation, as mercenaries to participate in hostilities in Ukraine.”

TheRussian intelligence service points to the American military base in Syria called al-Tanf, which is located close to the borders with Jordan and Iraq. According to its sources, this base and the surrounding area have turned into a kind of terrorist “hub,” where up to 500 ISIS and other jihadists can be “retrained” simultaneously. SVR claimed that last month 60 ISIS militants, who had been released from prisons controlled by the Syrian Kurds, were transferred to al-Tanf “with a view to subsequent transfer to Ukrainian territory.”

The SVR specified that during a training course at al-Tanf the militants are instructed on how to use anti-tank missile systems, reconnaissance and strike drones, advanced communications and surveillance equipment.

In the SVR’s opinion, this data confirms that “the United States is ready to use any means to achieve its geopolitical goals, not excluding sponsoring international terrorist groups.”

The intelligence service concluded by saying that the American administration does not consider the consequences of such actions, “even when it comes to threats to the security of European allies and even to the lives of the Americans.”

Washington has insisted that “there are no US soldiers in Ukraine.”

Meanwhile, the presence of American troops on Syrian territory at al-Tanf base, which the SVR mentions in its statement, has long been considered by both Moscow and Damascus as illegal. The previous US administration pledged that American forces would leave northeastern Syria but only after ISIS militants are defeated and the Kurds protected.

Then-National Security Advisor John Bolton made it clear that another task of the US forces at al-Tanf was to counter Iranian influence in the region.

In October 2021, there were reports that, according to Israeli defense sources, about 350 military members and civilians were still using al-Tanf, including some British and French forces that were described as “intelligence experts.”

Prior to Moscow’s operation, the very statehood of Russia was threatened, a security chief says

The West has used Ukraine as a pretext for an “undeclared war” against Moscow, and put Russia in a position in which it had to protect its “very statehood,” the secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev, said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a meeting of the Security Council’s scientific advisory board, Patrushev said that the current “unprecedented geopolitical crisis” was caused by the Western-led destruction of “the global security architecture and the international legal system.” He argued that instead of engaging in constructive dialogue with Moscow, the US and their allies conducted a “military-political expansion towards Russia,” built up support for Ukrainian authorities, and pushed Kiev “to carry out a large-scale violent action in eastern Ukraine.”

In Patrushev’s opinion, the main objective of the West is to create conditions for the establishment of a Western-controlled regime in Russia, “as it was already tested on Ukraine and a number of other states.” The military offensive on Ukraine, he argued, prevented this from happening. In his words, Moscow had to take “preventive measures,” since the threats to national security reached a level that endangered "the very statehood of Russia and its existence.”

The current sanctions policy and “the global anti-Russian campaign launched by the Americans and their satellites,” from Patrushev’s point of view, “convincingly proves that Ukraine has become a pretext for waging an undeclared war against Russia.” The secretary of Russia’s Security Council also claimed that “aggression” against Moscow had an ideological dimension.

“The situation around Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine shows that the neoliberalism of the collective West is transforming before our eyes into the ideology of neoliberal fascism, aimed primarily at the eradication of the Russian world.”

Patrushev echoed the statements of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who said earlier on Tuesday that the expression “unfriendly states”in relation to the West is not entirely accurate. “I would say they are hostile states, because what they do is war,” he said.

Following the launch of Russia’s military attack on Ukraine, the US, EU, UK, Australia, Japan and many other countries imposed hard-hitting sanctions on Moscow. Within less than three months, Russia has become the most sanctioned country in the world,surpassing Iran and North Korea.

Western-backed coup foiled, government claims

Attempted coup in Mali comes amid tensions with France

A group of Malian officers attempted a coup last week with the help of a Western state, the government in Bamako has announced. While the military government did not name the alleged foreign culprit, the announcement comes amid the ongoing deterioration of relations with Mali’s former colonial ruler, France.

“A small group of anti-progressive Malian officers and non-commissioned officers attempted a coup on the night of May 11-12, 2022,” government spokesman Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga said on national TV on Monday evening. “These soldiers were supported by a Western state. The attempt failed thanks to the vigilance and professionalism of Mali’s defense and security forces.”

The government denounced the “outrageous attack on state security, the purpose of which is to hinder — or even annihilate — the substantial efforts to secure our country and return to a constitutional order that guarantees peace and stability” in Mali, but offered few details of the alleged plot.

One anonymous military source told Al-Jazeera that about 10 people have been arrested so far. The government has confirmed that security at checkpoints around the capital has been increased in an effort to catch accomplices that may still be at large.

Claims of the failed coup came on the same day Mali withdrew from the G5 Sahel Force, a multinational effort to counter Islamist militants in the region. The five-member group set up in 2017 also included Chad, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Nigeria.

Mali is currently ruled by interim President Assimi Goita, an army colonel who led the 2020 military coup against President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita – as well as the May 2021 coup against his replacement Bah N’Daw.

Following the 2021 coup, Goita’s government has been accused by Western powers of inviting Russian private military contractors to help Bamako fight Islamist militants in the north.

Meanwhile, Bamako’s relations with Paris continued to deteriorate. At Goita’s insistence, France pulled its troops out of Mali in February. The country banished French state media in March, accusing them of publishing false reports about human rights abuses. Earlier this month, Mali severed defense accords with Paris, citing “flagrant violations”of its sovereignty by French troops.

American aid to Kiev goes to NGOs run by “friends and families” of US politicians, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claims

The financial support America provides to Ukraine looks very much “like money laundering schemes,” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has told ‘The Truth With Lisa Boothe’ podcast on Monday. The money supposedly destined for Ukrainians ends up in the pockets of “non-profits and NGOs” that are often run by people close to the politicians in Washington, Greene has claimed.

“They want to get $40 billion to Ukraine and you have these $40 billion on top of the money that have already been given. That brings it to $53 billion. That is over two thirds of the State Department’s entire budget for the year,” the congresswoman said, referring to the latest aid package that is currently going through the US Senate.

According to Greene, the US officials are doing this to eventually fund the NGOs operated by “their families and friends.” “It is basically like money laundering schemes,” she said.

The congresswoman believes these funds should be spent to deal with issues inside the US instead, including homelessness or human trafficking, which, according to Greene, have reached “record-high” levels.

Our tax dollars are just like one big slush fund for criminal operations and it needs to end.

Of the upcoming $40 billion aid package, $900 million is to be given to “qualified”organizations and NGOs for wraparound services, housing and medical services, the congresswoman said, adding that these organizations will be “eligible for any help the US government can give them.”

Washington also plans to provide $150 million for global agriculture and food programs at a time when US farmers are “on the verge of going out of business,” Greene said, adding that she has talked to the farmers in her district over the past week and found out they had been “hurt so badly by inflation and high fuel costs, chemicals and fertilizer costs… they are not breaking even.”

The congresswoman has also accused the US of being hypocritical about its alleged desire to “help the Ukrainian people.” Washington is being pouring money into Ukraine but is “totally ignoring” other conflicts around the world, she said, adding that “Ethiopia has a civil war right now, with thousands of people killed and millions displaced,” but the US pays little attention to this fact.

It is such a hypocrisy. It is not about saving lives but it certainly is about Ukraine.

Greene is not the only one concerned about the transparency of the US spending when it comes to aid for Ukraine. Last week, a quick vote on the $40 billion Ukraine aid package bill was blocked by Republican Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky. He demanded a special inspector general be appointed to monitor how the massive aid package is spent.

Paul insisted that his proposal be added to the bill, which would require that the revised legislation go back to the House for another vote after Senate approval. He noted that the latest package would bring total US aid to Ukraine to $60 billion since the conflict began in February, nearly as much as Russia earmarks annually for its entire defense budget. The Senator also argued that America would have to increase its debt and worsen its inflation crisis to make the aid available to Kiev.

Greene herself was among the 57 Republican representatives who voted twice against sending financial aid to Ukraine during its conflict. Both aid packages, however, received overwhelming support in the House and were passed 368-57.

On Saturday, US Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) also assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the US support during his visit to Kiev. He also vowed to “get the job done” by passing the aid package bill.

"Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has admitted having to take desperate steps to find baby formula for his own baby twins because of the supply crisis that is being blamed on his own administration.

“This is very personal for us,” the 40-year-old senior government official told CBS News’ “Face The Nation” Sunday, referring to how the formula shortage was a struggle for him and his husband, Chasten Buttigieg.

“We’ve got two 9-month-old children,” he said of twins Penelope Rose and Joseph August, whose birth created a political firestorm when he took extended paternity leave despite the crippling supply-chain crisis.

“Baby formula is a very big part of our lives. And like millions of Americans, we’ve been rooting around stores, checking online, getting in touch with relatives in other places where they don’t have the same shortages to see what they can send over,” he said.

After the desperate out-of-state and online search, Buttigieg and his husband “figured it out,” he said, without revealing his newfound source of the sought-after baby food.

“We’re all set, at least for now,” he told Margaret Brennan.

“But I think about what that would be like if you’re a shift worker with two jobs, maybe you don’t have a car,” he admitted of the desperate tales of those terrified of being unable to feed their tots."

Ankara’s threat to block Finland and Sweden’s bids reportedly has nothing to do with Russia

Turkey’s list of demands for NATO and its prospective members Finland and Sweden includes the removal of sanctions imposed on Ankara over its purchase of S-400 missile defense systems from Russia, as well as re-inclusion in the F-35 advanced aircraft program, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing “three senior Turkish officials.”

On May 15, Finland and Sweden officially announced their intention to join NATO in the wake of the ongoing Russian military offensive on Ukraine. To make it possible, all members of the alliance would have to unanimously support their bids. Turkey, however, said it would not say “yes” to Helsinki and Stockholm because they do not have “a clear unequivocal stance” against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Front (DHKP/C), groups that Ankara considers terrorist organizations.

Sweden and Finland have a record of granting political asylum to people from Turkey, particularly ethnic Kurds, fleeing internal conflicts – something that Ankara finds unacceptable. According to Bloomberg, Turkish leadership demands that Sweden and Finland “publicly denounce not only the PKK, but also its affiliates before being allowed to join the bloc.”

As Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu confirmed on Monday, his country also wants Sweden and Finland to cancel trade restrictions they imposed on Turkey.

However, as Bloomberg’s sources said on the condition of anonymity, Turkey’s wish list is long.

“Turkey wants to be re-included in the F-35 advanced aircraft program, from which it was barred after it bought S-400 missile-defense systems from Russia. It also has an outstanding request to the US to purchase dozens of F-16 warplanes and upgrade kits for its existing fleet,” Bloomberg writes.

Ankara also wants the US to lift sanctions that Washington imposed on it for purchasing the S-400 missiles.

The news agency’s sources, however, refuted the suggestions that Turkey’s objections against Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership were in any way related to Ankara’s ties with Moscow. Russia has warned Helsinki and Stockholm against joining the bloc and promised an appropriate response should they create threats.

On Monday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that “Turkey is a valued ally and any security concerns need to be addressed.”

"The South Florida-based Big Dog Ranch Rescue packed up and went to Eastern Europe to help displaced dogs from war-torn Ukraine find safe, loving homes as their owners were forced to flee or killed by the ongoing Russian invasion.

“We just felt for these dogs, we felt for what was going… when you’re being bombed and your house is in rubble, sometimes you just you’ve got to get yourself and your kids out. Sometimes you just don’t have the means to be able to take your pets with you,” Big Dog Ranch Rescue founder and CEO Lauree Simmons told Fox News Digital via Zoom from a shelter in Poznan, Poland, that is being used to house many of the displaced canines.

The dogs were separated from their owners amid the war started by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine nearly three months ago. Simmons’ group will attempt to reunite them with their owners, and will find homes for the ones who are now without owners.

“Many of these people are very, very compassionate, and they care about their animals,” Simmons said.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue opened, and will operate, the shelter in Poland that is expected to be needed for at least four to six months.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue has been saving distressed dogs since Simmons founded the group in 2008, and she has helped reunite pets with owners after natural disasters, works with veterans to prepare rescue dogs to become service dogs and pairs older pets with seniors who need companionship. The group celebrated saving over 50,000 dogs earlier this year and has emerged as a global voice for animal rights. Along the way, Simmons has been targeted by the liberal media for holding events at former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, but she doesn’t think politics should have any impact on whether these dogs are cast aside. "

Rob Walker is the subject of new claims relating to the alleged Hunter Biden laptop controversy, former Naval officer Tony Bobulinski, and the Joe Biden family.

Bobulinski, who used to be Hunter Biden’s business partner, claimed on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News that Walker warned him not to go public with his comments against Joe Biden and Hunter Biden. Bobulinski has claimed that Hunter “consulted” with Joe Biden about a planned venture with Chinese oil company CEFC China Energy Co., according to The Wall Street Journal.

Bobulinski told The New York Post that Joe Biden “was a willing and eager participant in a family scheme to make millions of dollars by partnering with a shady Chinese Communist firm.”

Crisis in Transnistria: Will the Ukraine conflict spread into other parts of Europe?

Shots and explosions have been heard in the enclave again. Who stands to benefit from an escalation of the long 'frozen' conflict?

While the world’s eyes are on Ukraine, Transnistria is facing an explosive situation. De facto self-governing since the Soviet collapse, the small territory, which borders Ukraine, is internationally recognised as part of Moldova.

A series of explosions shook the capital Tiraspol at the end of April, and shots have been heard near the frontier with its war-torn neighbor. Several key military and infrastructure buildings were hit – the Ministry of State Security, a TV and radio center, as well as the largest ammunition warehouse in Eastern Europe. The Transnistria issue has simmered on the fringes of global politics since the original fighting was settled on July 21, 1992, and a ceasefire was signed.

Now, thirty years later, this “frozen conflict” is challenging European security once again. Here, RT explains who could benefit from an escalation in Transnistria and how developments in the region will be affected by Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.

Explosive Situation

The breakaway Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) was one of the first regions to go on high alert after the Russian operation began, in February. The majority of its residents take a pro-Moscow stance and since the beginning of the 1990s, Transnistria has severed ties with Moldova and has relied on the Kremlin's support. Geographically, however, the PMR is close to the southwest of Ukraine, bordering Odessa and Vinnitsa.

Since the first days of Moscow’s operation, it became obvious that provocations could occur here. And it seems they have. On April 25, shots were allegedly fired at the Ministry of State Security from a grenade launcher. A fire started in the building as a result, and the explosion shattered windows in the nearby buildings, but no one was injured or killed. While the emergency services dealt with the debris, authorities tried to figure out who was behind the shooting. Eventually they concluded that such episodes played into the hands of those who wanted to drag Transnistria into the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The next day a military airfield near Tiraspol was hit, and later two antennas in Mayak, where the Transnistrian TV and radio center is located, were blown up. Bloggers discovered that they belonged to the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network and had been transmitting to the US, the Middle East, and Latin America.

After the series of explosions, the PMR Security Council raised the terrorist threat alert to the top level and promised to “implement urgent measures that would allow the authorities to evacuate people, treat the victims, provide psychological counseling, and help secure properties if owners have to leave.”

PMR's President Vadim Krasnoselsky believes that Ukraine was behind the incidents. “We know where the terrorists came from and where they went afterwards. I assure you, they have nothing to do with the Transnistria issue,” the politician said.

Local authorities also decided to cancel the celebration of World War Two Victory Day on May 9 as a precaution. They banned fireworks and asked people not to bring flowers to the tombs of fallen Soviet soldiers. “Organizing gatherings in certain locations is not safe,”Krasnoselsky explained, adding that someday they would celebrate the victory once again as they did in May 1945.

Despite all the measures taken, the situation in Transnistria was still tense during the following days. On April 27, VOG-25 grenade launchers were apparently used to shoot at military warehouses in Kolbasna where Russian peacekeepers are stationed. The PMR Investigative Committee concluded that the attack was organized from Ukrainian territory.

Kolbasna, located near the Ukrainian border, is home to the largest ammunition stockpile in Eastern Europe. In 2000, it held 42 tons of artillery and infantry ammunition and other military equipment. Following agreements reached at the 1999 OSCE summit in Istanbul, over 20 tons were relocated or destroyed, but the facility still holds a significant number of weapons deposited there after Soviet, and later Russian, troops withdrew from Germany and Czechoslovakia.

Right after Moscow started its military operation, certain Telegram channels began to discuss scenarios in which Ukraine would try to take over the warehouse and grab the weapons. The authorities didn’t comment on the rumors – apparently they believed that the US and EU had supplied the country with enough modern gear....

“I want ALL the @’s (all Twitter accounts begin with @) in my TL, (Timeline on Twitter).” Fetterman appears to be asking for evidence that voters cast their ballots to be entered into a contest to win Sheetz gift cards and lottery (“PA scratch-offs”) tickets.

Fetterman tweeted, “BANK YOUR BALLOT PA,” adding, “Let’s see you bank them.” The Democrat PA Lt. Governor wrote that he was offering PA “scratch-off” lottery tickets to remind voters that “you can gamble in PA but are a criminal if you sip some weed.”

Leaked Treasury Department records obtained as part of the FinCen Files revealed that Hares Youssef, a Ukrainian-Syrian businessman with alleged ties to Russian organized crime, paid mbloom — a now-defunct technology startup fund backed by Hawaii’s Strategic State Development Corporation and Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners (RSTP) — nearly $3 million.

The transaction was flagged via a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) by the City National Bank in Los Angeles based on reports tying Youssef to Semion Mogilevich — also known as "The Brainy Don" — as well as international arms trafficking. The SAR also pointed to allegations of Youssef being tied to Syrian General Maher al-Assad, the brother of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

While there doesn’t appear to be evidence that Biden personally orchestrated the investment into mbloom by Youssef, emails reviewed by FOX Business show that Biden was in regular communication with RSTP leaders and had investment interests in multiple RSTP funds in 2016 and 2017, despite Biden's attorney claiming he "severed his relationship" with RSTP.

Chancellor Scholz is no “offended liverwurst” because he was not offended by a Ukrainian ambassador who called him one, FM Lavrov said

One can hardly refer to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as an “offended liverwurst,”considering that when Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andrey Melnik called him that, Scholz didn’t appear offended at all, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

The minister was referring to a series of exchanges between Kiev and Berlin over the Ukrainian government’s refusal to welcome German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for a state visit in April. Scholz responded by declining to come as well, and the Ukrainian ambassador resorted to name calling in retaliation.

“His boorishness has long become notorious. Politicians in Germany who have kept their dignity have drawn attention to him on multiple occasions,” Lavrov said when asked about the diplomatic spat during an educational event. The question came from a student of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, a leading university in Russia.

Scholz “was not offended by it, so the word ‘offended’ can be removed from this formula,”the Russian official added, referring to the German leader’s refusal to pay much heed to Melnik’s remark.

Lavrov assessed that, under the current government, “Germany relinquished the last traces of independence” from the US. He also said the same was true for most of the European nations, with the exception of France, where President Emmanuel Macron “is still talking about the strategic independence of the EU. I am certain they will not be allowed to have it,” he added.

The EU is turning into an organization indistinguishable from NATO in terms of its US-determined goal, policies, and even membership, the Russian minister said, referring to the proposed inclusion of Sweden and Finland into the military bloc.

He suggested that Ukrainian officials would continue to get away with insulting Europeans just as easily as they were getting away with harboring radical nationalists and open neo-Nazis in the ranks of their troops. But, ultimately the West considers Ukraine “expendable” as long as it serves its goals of undermining Russia, he warned.

Lavrov argued that Washington ramped up its confrontation with independent-thinking nations after China managed to “beat it” at its own game. Beijing became more successful than Washington by playing by the rules the US helped set in the form of global institutions like the World Bank or the World Trade Organization.

After failing to compete fair and square against China and other emerging economic powers, including Russia, the US now wants to change the rules themselves to maintain an unfair advantage and preserve the neocolonialist system it created, he argued.

It cannot be stable for any prolonged period of time. Historically speaking, our cause is the good one.
