In the moments before the Ottawa police's Friday morning briefing on the ongoing anti-vaccine mandate protest on Parliament Hill, officers — both in uniform and plain clothes — and media alike awaited the arrival of the chief and deputy chiefs.

Meanwhile, a few folks were passing around a news release on tougher police measures coming in the days ahead, including one man who was not with the police services, but with the chief's office, CBC was told.

That man was Matthew Barnes, a senior consultant for Navigator — an elite and expensive crisis management firm.

Police chief Peter Sloly's office confirmed by email that Navigator was hired last weekend to "assist the Ottawa Police Service and Ottawa Police Services Board with communication/community engagement support on the first weekend of the demonstrations."

The full costs of the services aren't known yet, but according to the statement, taxpayers are paying Navigator on what's being described as a "fee-for-service basis," with "an upside limit" of $50,000 to $75,000.

There was no competitive bid for the communications work because, according to police, the contract is within the service's sole-source guidelines for special events.

Pentagon Revises Original Story About Kabul Airport Bombing

The ISIS bombing at the Kabul airport that killed 13 American troops and over 170 Afghans on Aug. 26, 2021, was not a “complex attack” and was executed by a single bomber, a United States military investigation discovered.

President Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal of American troops from the nation led to a swift takeover by the Taliban, which led to the airport becoming a chaotic and unsafe disaster.

“The investigation found that a single, explosive device killed at least 170 Afghan civilians and 13 US servicemembers by explosively directing ball bearings through a packed crowd and into our men and women at Abbey gate,” Gen. Frank McKenzie said at a Pentagon briefing on Friday, according to CNN.

“At the time, the best information we had in the immediate aftermath of the attack indicated that it was a complex attack by both a suicide bomber and ISIS-K gunmen,” he added.

“We now know that the explosively-fired ball bearings caused wounds that looked like gunshots, and when combined with a small number of warning shots that led many to assume that a complex attack had occurred.”

The War in Afghanistan did not see any combat-related servicemember deaths in 18 months prior to the attack, which makes the botched withdrawal sting all the more as more details are learned.

Republicans on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee released a report harshly condemning the administration’s actions in Afghanistan and suggesting extreme ignorance at the highest levels of leadership.

“It is clear the senior leadership of the Biden Administration failed to effectively plan, coordinate, and execute an orderly withdrawal and evacuation” from Afghanistan, the report states, according to Fox News.

“The Biden Administration squandered precious time, ignored intelligence and recommendations from people on the ground, and refused bipartisan support to give them the resources to succeed. In the process, the botched withdrawal has tarnished America’s reputation and credibility.”

The airport attack should never have happened, but it was the result of incompetence from the president and other officials that paved the way for the tragedy. Thankfully, it appears that there are hardworking servicemembers and lawmakers trying to get to the bottom of what truly happened in August, as it must never happen again.

FBI Agents’ Misconduct Won’t Be Considered in Whitmer Kidnap Case, Judge Rules

The misconduct of three FBI agents who investigated the alleged Michigan governor kidnapping plot won’t be used as evidence in court, a U.S. district judge has ruled.

With their March 8 trial fast approaching, defendants Adam Fox, Barry Croft, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris, and Brandon Caserta filed numerous motions in recent weeks to buttress their argument that the FBI entrapped them in a scheme to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. But the defendants faced a severe blow to their case when U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker made a Feb. 2 order largely siding with government.

One of the defendants’ strategies was to bring to the jury’s attention the misconduct of the FBI agents who investigated them. One FBI agent in the Whitmer case was fired from the bureau after beating his wife, another agent has been accused of perjury in a separate case, and a third was pulled from testifying in the trial after it was revealed that he was operating a private intelligence business while investigating the defendants.

Judge Jonker said an FBI agent assaulting his wife was irrelevant to the kidnapping case. He made a similar statement about the agent accused of perjury in another matter.

State Department Releases Damning Emails Revealing Hunter’s Dirty Business ‘Undercut’ US Efforts To Fight Corruption In Ukraine

Biden’s seemingly corrupt, derelict son Hunter was harming US efforts to fight corruption in Ukraine but he was making money.

A recently declassified email out of the State Department stated that Hunter Biden’s business with Burisma “undercut” US efforts in Ukraine. Just the News reported about this new level of Biden corruption.

It has been hidden from the public for five years as Democrats insisted Hunter had no impact on US anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.

This isn’t new but what is new is more proof which will be met with complete disinterest by the media.

Former embassy official George Kent, an impeachment witness against Donald Trump, sent an email obtained by Just the News on Nov. 22, 2016 to another impeachment witness, then-U.S. Ambassador to Kiev Marie Yovanovitch. It had the lowest level of classification at ‘confidential’ but was kept hidden.

It shows Hunter’s dealings did interfere with US efforts.

“The real issue to my mind was that someone in Washington needed to engage VP Biden quietly and say that his son Hunter’s presence on the Burisma board undercut the anti-corruption message the VP and we were advancing in Ukraine,” Kent wrote multiple high-ranking officials in the State Department in Washington.

There was intense pressure by Burisma advocates to rehab Burisma’s reputation at the time.

Kent even relayed to higher-ups that he had confirmed with Ukrainian prosecutors that Burisma officials had paid a $7 million “bribe” to make one of the cases against the company disappear. The bribe was allegedly paid at a time when Hunter Biden was serving on the Burisma board, a job that landed his firm more than $3 million from the Ukrainian energy company.

Kent explained to the officials in Washington that Burisma’s long reputation for alleged corruption and anecdotes like the bribe were one of the main reasons Hunter Biden’s affiliation with the company proved harmful to U.S. efforts to fight Ukrainian corruption.

“Ukrainians heard one message from us,” Kent wrote, “and then saw another set of behavior, with the [BIden] family association with a known corrupt figure whose company was known for not playing by the rules in the oil/gas sector.”

The email chain also showed that State officials were acutely aware that Hunter Biden had an affiliation with an American business partner also accused — and eventually convicted of — corruption.

“I should note that there were two American members of the Burisma board: Hunter Biden and Devon Archer,” another State official on the email chain wrote Kent and Andrews. “Archer was recently indicted in a federal fraud case.”

An anti-Trump Democratic-aligned political action committee advised by retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal is planning to deploy an information warfare tool that reportedly received initial funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Pentagon’s secretive research arm – transforming technology originally envisioned as a way to fight ISIS propaganda into a campaign platform to benefit Joe Biden.

The permission for Archer's globetrotting was revealed in a Nov. 12, 2021 letter from his defense lawyers, who asked and received permission from U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams, an appointee of President Barack Obama, for his 41st trip since he was first charged by federal prosecutors.

"I write to respectfully request the Court's permission for Mr. Archer to travel on vacation with his family from November 23 to November 28, 2021, to Jamaica for the Thanksgiving holiday," defense attorney Craig Wenner wrote. He added for good measure: "The Court previously approved the same trip this time last year."

Organizers of the “Freedom Convoy” that has gridlocked downtown Ottawa for the last week are facing a potential $9.8-million class-action lawsuit over continuous vehicle horn noise, filed on behalf of residents of the city’s downtown core.

According to a statement of claim filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on Friday by lawyer Paul Champ, the lawsuit is seeking $4.8 million for “private nuisance” and another $5 million in “punitive damages.”

The statement of claim focuses on the honking as one of the main “coordinated” tactics convoy participants have used to make their presence known, alleging that the use of horns as organized by the defendants has caused “significant mental distress, suffering and torment to the plaintiff and the proposed class members.”

The case is set to go to court on Saturday afternoon, as the plaintiff is seeking an injunction calling for an end to the continued “nuisance” being experienced by downtown residents that have now faced a week of disruptions due to the ongoing demonstration.

The lead plaintiff, Zexi Li, is a 21-year-old public servant who lives within five blocks of Parliament Hill, though class certification is being sought, with “all persons who reside in Ottawa, Ontario, from Bay Street to Elgin Street and Lisgar Street to Wellington Street” being considered potential members of the class action.

The statement of claim names Chris Barber, Benjamin Ditcher, Tamara Lich and Patrick King as convoy organizers, but also leaves the opportunity for up to 60 other defendants to be named, should the drivers of the semi-trucks who are parked downtown and blasting their horns in protest, be identified.

The court filing alleges that the horns on semi-trucks emit noise in the range of 100 to 150 decibels and are not meant to be used for longer than a few seconds because the sound levels are dangerous and can cause permanent damage to the human ear.

The statement of claim indicates that the sound volume downtown has been measured and allegedly exceeds noise levels that are permissible under Federal Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

“Despite these dangers, the Freedom Convoy trucks have been blasting these dangerous horns continuously for 12 to 16 hours per day,” the statement of claim alleges.

It also notes that many of the residents who live downtown and specifically around Parliament Hill are no strangers to political protests and understand the importance of freedom of association, assembly and expression, however they “have never experienced anything like the constant and excruciatingly loud horns of the defendants’ Freedom Convoy.”

Elections Canada says more than 200,000 mail-in ballots sent to voters in the last federal election were not counted, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

Those ballot kits which were late, cancelled, or marked as lost in the mail, totalled 205,000 and were greater than the margin of victory between Liberal and Conservative candidates nationwide — 190,790 votes.

“We are deeply sorry for any elector who was unable to vote on election day,” said Susan Torosian, executive policy director for Elections Canada.

Report On The 44th General Election — tabled in Parliament — shows ballot kits were sent to 1,274,447 electors who asked to vote by mail. Only 1,068,543 were returned and counted.

Of the 205,000 uncounted ballots, 90,000 were “returned late and not counted” and another 114,583 were never returned.

The report also identified other issues.

The protesters descended on the grass this week as part of the “Convoy to Canberra” movement, objecting vaccine mandates and coronavirus restrictions.

The National Capital Authority on Wednesday requested ACT Police enforce legislation prohibiting illegal camping and parking at the lawns adjacent to the library.

Officers attended the grass on Wednesday and informed campers both verbally and via printed material that they are in breach of legislation.

Despite technical issues caused by a surge in traffic, the new campaign is growing quickly

A website hosting a new fundraising effort to support truck drivers protesting vaccine mandates in Canada is experiencing major technical difficulties, with a wave of traffic crashing the platform after GoFundMe canceled a prior campaign that garnered millions of dollars.

Shortly after GoFundMe gave the boot to the ‘Freedom Convoy 2022’ campaign on Friday afternoon, organizers made another attempt on Christian crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo, raising more than $150,000 in just a matter of hours. A spike in visitors has caused problems for the website, however.

“We know the site is slow, or getting a server error. We are working on it! All hands on deck. There's thousands on [the site] making successful donations so please try again if you get an error!” it said.

The new fundraiser features a brief video from organizer Tamara Lich, who explained that GoFundMe had shut down the previous campaign that raised some $8 million (Cad$10 million) after only disbursing $1 million, freezing the rest.

“We decided to team up with an organization called GiveSendGo, which is going to enable us to get donations into the hands of the truckers much, much quicker while everybody gets the rest of this stuff sorted out,” she said, adding “You know we plan to be here for the long-haul, as long as it takes to ensure that your rights and freedoms are restored.”

The money is being raised to support a convoy of truckers who’ve descended on the Canadian capital to demand an end to cross-border vaccine requirements, staging a massive protest in Ottawa. Others have gathered near the border with the US, creating a blockade of big rigs and other vehicles.

While local police have denounced the gatherings as disruptive and unlawful, authorities have been unable to disperse the demonstrators for several days. On the heels of GoFundMe’s decision to scrap the original fund drive, the Ottawa Police Service cheered the move, thanking the site for “listening to our concerns as a City and a police service.”

“The decision to withhold funding for these unlawful demonstrations is an important step and we call on all crowdfunding sites to follow,” it said.

Bloomberg News agency has published a headline that claimed “Live: Russia invades Ukraine” that went up on its homepage around midnight Moscow time and stayed there for nearly half an hour, before it was removed and an apology for the “mistake” issued.

Users who tried to click on the shocking story while it was still up were redirected to an error page, according to the New York Post. Screenshots of Bloomberg's website shared on Twitter indicate that the sensational claim remained largely unnoticed for at least 24 minutes before it was deleted.

The news agency admitted the blunder, saying that they “prepare headlines for many scenarios and the headline ‘Russia Invades Ukraine’ was inadvertently published around 4 p.m. ET today on our website.”

“We deeply regret the error. The headline has been removed and we are investigating the cause,” Bloomberg added in its brief mea culpa, hidden behind a paywall.

The dangerous blunder comes after months of fearmongering by western media and senior officials about Russia supposedly planning a full-scale invasion of Ukraine any day now. Those predictions have since been somewhat toned down from “imminent” by the White House, while the Kremlin has insisted all along that no attack is in the works. Moscow has repeatedly dismissed the allegations as “hysteria” and “fake news,” and even Kiev at one point criticized the West for damaging its economy with constant panic about a looming war.

Traffic chaos as thousands of Australians march in Canberra to protest coronavirus vaccine mandates

Thousands of anti-vaccination protesters have gathered in the Australian Capital Territory to demand “freedom” and no more COVID-19 jab mandates.

The demonstrators, who have travelled to the nation’s capital from across the country, marched from Canberra's Glebe Park to Old Parliament house on Saturday.

Locals were advised to avoid the area due to the protest and traffic delays.

Protesters displayed Australian flags and placards reading “no vaccine mandate” as they marched.

Speeches were given at Old Parliament House and the crowd sang along to I am Australian.

The group has since moved towards Parliament House.

"Heavy traffic along Northbourne Avenue especially Commonwealth Avenue Bridge South bound," ACT Policing Traffic wrote to Twitter.

"Protest activity, heavy delays, avoid area and take an alternate route."

A transgender woman should not be allowed to compete with biological women because the person would hold “an unfair advantage over the competition in the women’s category,” a group said Thursday.

The group, which includes 16 members of the University of Pennsylvania women’s swimming team and their family members, issued a letter to the university and the Ivy League, asking them to refrain from any litigation that’s seeking to allow teammate Lia Thomas, a transgender woman, to race at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) events.

Nancy Hogshead-Makar, a three-time Olympic champion and the CEO of Champion Women, led the efforts.

The NCAA Board of Governors in January adopted a sport-by-sport approach to transgender participation, but emphasized the need to balance fairness, inclusion, and safety for all college athletes.

The University of Pennsylvania may sue the NCAA if Thomas is barred from competing at the upcoming NCAA competitions, The Daily Mail reported. The Epoch Times cannot independently verify the potential lawsuit.

The group who penned the letter urged the University of Pennsylvania to not engage in any lawsuit seeking to allow Thomas to compete in women’s sports.

“Biologically, Lia holds an unfair advantage over competition in the women’s category, as evidenced by her rankings that have bounced from #462 as a male to #1 as a female,” read the letter.

“If she were to be eligible to compete against us, she could now break Penn, Ivy, and NCAA Women’s Swimming records; feats she could never have done as a male athlete.

“To be sidelined or beaten by someone competing with the strength, height, and lung capacity advantages that can only come with male puberty has been exceedingly difficult,” they wrote.

The Epoch Times reached out to the University of Pennsylvania and the Champion Women for comments.

Denmark's government has come under fire after the country declared Covid-19 is no longer a critical disease to society.

UK Dr Bharat Pankhania, a medical and health expert, said Denmark's Prime Minister was "not correct" to say Covid is no longer a critical threat to society.

On February 1, all restrictions were lifted across the country, including the wearing of face masks.

Night clubs reopened, social distancing measures came to an end and restrictions on the number of people allowed at indoor gatherings were all scrapped.

A sense of relief has been felt across the country, with residents taking to social media to exclaim with joy about their long-overdue freedom.

In response to the news, Nordic journalist Peter Imanuelsen tweeted: "Freedom is returning", and claimed the "Nordic countries are leading the way for freedom again".

A man who told police that “voices” were encouraging him to rape children was bailed out by the Minnesota Freedom Fund, a controversial nonprofit that was once endorsed by the current vice president.

Bel Mbungson Tosah, a 34-year-old from Andover, was arrested Jan. 22 at 4 a.m. after he trashed an airport transit station. When police arrived, Tosah told them that “voices” were commanding him to assault children.

Tosah damaged a CCTV camera, a TSA portable workstation monitor, four Delta check-in kiosk monitors, a monitor at an information booth, six flight display monitors, and discharged two fire extinguishers. He did this to “make the voices stop,” according to the charges filed against him.

Tosah told police that he wanted to go to jail and yelled “shoot me” when one officer pulled a Taser.

He was bailed out by the Minnesota Freedom Fund Tuesday night, according to court documents. Tosah is facing two counts of first-degree damage to property.

The Freedom Fund is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars freeing a man accused of sexually penetrating a young child, a man who curb stomped a person, several serial domestic abusers, and other people with serious criminal histories.

The group seeks to “abolish cash bail in Minnesota” and believes the criminal justice system “was designed to maintain and uphold white supremacy.”

Jail records show Tosah was released from custody Tuesday night.
