The “Thelma & Louise” star posted an image that showed a tweet by writer and podcaster Danny Haiphong of a photo of the massive turnout of officers in Manhattan last week.

“I’m gonna tell my kids this is what fascism looks like,” the original tweet said.

Sarandon posted an image Tuesday that included an apparent screenshot of the original tweet and a caption that said, “So, if all these cops weren’t needed for CRIME that day, doesn’t that mean they aren’t needed ANY day?”

AFP releases glossary of terms used by some sex predators to groom children

The AFP is today releasing a glossary of acronyms and emojis that can be used by child predators who engage in sexualised communication online and via text message.

The glossary has been developed from information contained in investigations and reports undertaken by the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) and AFP child protection teams across Australia.

Many students are receiving their own tablets and mobile phones for the first time ahead of their return to school, and some may start receiving unsolicited text messages or emails.

This resource has been produced to help educate parents and carers about the tactics of child sexual predators, some of whom use acronyms or language to escape adult detection or pretend to be a young person to encourage communication.

Young people can be coerced by adults or peers to take naked pictures of themselves, and send those images via email or text. These images are hard to contain once transmitted and the damage and stigma caused can be life-long.

There is a growing trend of self-produced child exploitation material. These images, which are often being posted online without the knowledge or permission of the victim, are also being identified in the child abuse material held by child sex offenders.

Parents and carers know best when it comes to determining what content is appropriate when educating their children about social media and online child exploitation. While the glossary may provide insight for parents and carers, it also enables parents to ask their children to let them know if they are receiving certain terms or emojis in an email or text.

This glossary adds to the other wealth of information available for parents and carers at the ThinkUKnow program, an AFP-led education program designed to prevent online child sexual exploitation.

AFP Commander for the ACCCE Hilda Sirec said parents and careers could consider the glossary and ThinkUKnow content, and then tailor-make an online safety conversation suitable for their children.

Commander Sirec said online investigators regularly saw cases of child sex offenders exploiting their knowledge of hidden meanings in their attempts to groom children.

She said the glossary was not a definite or exhaustive list of terms, and some terms could mean different things. These terms and inappropriate use of emojis are not condoned by the AFP.

"Predators have schooled themselves in the language of emojis, emoticons and acronyms in order to groom their victims and the AFP is urging all parents and carers to familiarise themselves with this glossary,'' Commander Sirec said.

"Understanding how to interpret the messages your children are sending or receiving, such as "NP4NP" which can mean "nude pic for nude pic" or a bowl of noodles emoji, which can represent "nude pictures", could provide a critical clue that a child is at risk of being groomed or engaging in risky behaviour that could put them in harm's way.

"Some terms, slang or emojis may seem to be innocent symbols, however, they may signal a highly-sexualised conversation.

"When these emojis or acronyms are being sent from predators, they are an extremely dangerous grooming weapon that can lead to children being coerced into self-producing child abuse material or to set up a face-to-face meeting.

"We really need parents to explain to their children that people online are not always who they claim to be."

The conviction stemmed from incidents between January 11, 2020, and October 10, 2020, when Hollingsworth sex trafficked a minor female. Hollingsworthknowinglyand intentionally recruited the juvenile female to engage in commercial sexual acts with men in the Sioux Falls area. Hollingsworth communicated with customers using her cellular telephone, sending text messages and calling them to arrange the sexual acts. Hollingsworth received money for the commercial sexual acts in the form of cash and Western Union wire transfers.

This case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper prosecuted the case.

Hollingsworth was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

In January Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Michael Bohren issued a summary judgment decision banning ballot drop boxes in the state.

Judge Bohren also banned illegal ballot harvesting in the state.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) issued memos to Wisconsin clerks in March and August of 2020 encouraging the use of ballot boxes, saying absentee ballots do not need to be mailed by the voter or delivered by the voter, in person, to the municipal clerk, but instead could be dropped into a drop box. According to WEC, ballot drop boxes can be unstaffed, temporary, or permanent.

This advice was contrary to state law. In January Judge Bohren put an end to this illegal practice.

This new ruling is very disturbing to Wisconsin Democrats. On Wednesday Governor Tony Evers sent out a panicked fundraising letter attacking Republicans for eliminating dropboxes in Wisconsin.

Australian billionaire mining magnate Andrew 'Twiggy' Forrest has launched criminal proceedings against social media giant Facebook, alleging the company has breached Australia's money laundering laws by failing to prevent false cryptocurrency advertisements.

He claims that Facebook was "criminally reckless" by failing to take down the false advertisements on the platform, and that the company breached Australia's money-laundering laws by not doing enough to stop the scams.

Mr Forrest also alleges that Facebook — which has since rebranded to Meta — "failed to create controls or a corporate culture to prevent its systems being used to commit crime".

The criminal proceedings come after Mr Forrest requested Facebook prevent his image being used to promote cryptocurrency schemes, including in an open letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in November 2019.

In a statement, Mr Forrest said he was launching the "world-first" action on behalf of "everyday Australians" to protect their savings from being "swindled away by scammers".

"I’m concerned about innocent Australians being scammed through clickbait advertising on social media," he said.

"I’m committed to ensuring that social media operators don’t allow their sites to be used by criminal syndicates."

Neighbors and law enforcement officials confirmed the raid happened Friday at the home of Homeland Security Special Agent in Charge Vance Callender, who oversees operations in Michigan and Ohio. The search involved approximately 15 agents and lasted about six hours at a pea-green, Colonial-style home, east of downtown Royal Oak, according to an eyewitness.

News of the search has spread widely within the region's federal law enforcement community, raising questions about the conduct of a high-ranking federal official tasked with helping protect the nation's border with Canada. Callender heads a department that also investigates a wide range of crimes, including sex trafficking and child pornography, and enforces immigration and customs laws.

“First, it is important to emphasize that some rumors online about Special Agent-in-Charge Callender may be sensational; yet they are untrue," his lawyer, Nick Oberheiden, wrote in an email to The Detroit News. "With respect to allegations of an investigation, we refrain from further comments at this point — out of respect for SAC Callender’s credentials and his position.”

It is unclear what prompted the search, and Callender, 49, has not been charged with wrongdoing. He could not be reached for comment and a spokeswoman with Immigration and Customs Enforcement would not discuss Callender's job status.

“As public servants working for a law enforcement agency, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) takes allegations of misconduct very seriously," the spokeswoman said.

"Any allegations of misconduct are appropriately investigated, and any employee, regardless of rank or seniority, who has committed provable misconduct, will be held accountable. Where necessary, ICE works with federal and/or state and local law enforcement who may investigate such allegations. Per agency protocol, the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) will also review the allegations.”

Hypocrisy At The Highest Levels: ATF Asks Judge To Close Hunter Biden Gun Inquiry

A story not being covered by the corrupt corporate media over the past few years has been the story of Joe Biden's Son, Hunter. Or maybe, more specifically, the story of Hunter Biden's Handgun.

Hunter Biden purchased a .38 Revolver from a Delaware gun shop on October 12, 2018. If you're familiar with gun law or have bought a gun yourself, you'll know that to purchase a firearm; you'll have had to fill out an ATF Form 4473, also known as a Firearms Transaction Record. More on that later.

Days later, on October 23, Hallie Biden (widow to Joe Biden's son Beau) searched Hunter's truck and found the handgun. She apparently feared for Hunter's safety and decided to put the gun in a shopping bag and throw it in the trash outside a grocery store. During the same day, Hunter finds out about the gun disposal and notifies law enforcement of the missing firearm. The investigation that followed involved the Delaware State Police, Secret Service, the FBI, and later on, the ATF.

Eventually, the revolver was found, turned into authorities by a man who routinely searched garbage cans in the area for recyclables. Interestingly according to a report from Politico, the Secret Service visited the gun shop where Hunter had purchased the firearm and asked to take the 4473 associated with the gun. The shop owner wisely refused this request, apparently "suspecting that the Secret Service officers wanted to hide Hunter's ownership of the missing gun if it were ever to be involved in a crime." Eventually, the gun shop owner did turn in the firearm transaction record to the ATF.

Here's where it gets interesting. Back in 2018, when this event occurred, Hunter Biden was famously addicted to drugs. (According to his memoir, he was smoking crack in 2018)

On a Firearms Transaction Record, there's a question on the form about drug addiction. It's a yes or no question, and answering yes leads to disqualification of being able to purchase a firearm.

Chinese Scientists Discover "Godsend" Antibody Cocktail That Can "Neutralize" Omicron

After a long silence while Beijing insisted - more or less successfully - that SARS-CoV-2 had been annihilated in China, Chiese researchers have once again been producing a flurry of research on the virus's origins, while also claiming new breakthroughs in treatment. They even went so far as to propose a new zoonotic link between the omicron variant and mice.

On Wednesday, we saw that trend continue as a team of scientists from Fudan University claimed to have found a new "godsend" antibody that would magically neutralize omicron and all future strains.

The "surprise" discovery was reportedly made while the team was investigating other strains of the virus, according to their research, which was published on Biorxiv.

According to the leader of the team that carried out the research, the scientists crafted a new antibody cocktail synthesized from human cells produced in response to infections with other variants. To their complete and utter surprise, they found that the cocktail produced an antibody that can magically combat omicron.

Professor Huang Jinghe of Fudan University said in an interview with the SCMP that the new cocktail fought omicron using a series of "combo moves" like in a video game. His team has developed eight different antibody cocktails that they claim are "highly potent" in a short period of time.

As for what the Chinese intend to do with this research, that's not clear - yet.

"There are very few antibodies that can neutralize Omicron in the world. I feel like I’ve been hit by God’s grace," Huang said.

Despite being from different natural antibodies, “have collaborative roles in the neutralization process,” Huang and colleagues said in the paper. The team claims that it developed the cocktail for use on another illness which they refused to identify, before deciding that it had worked "pretty well" and so they should "give it a try" on omicron.

The SCMP noted that antibody treatments have been widely used to fight the pandemic and treat millions of Americans using monoclonal antibody medicines produced by Regeneron and Eli Lilly.

And while we applaud the Chinese for this experimental breakthrough, we can't help but wonder if this antibody combo has been in the back of a lab refrigerator somewhere for the last 2 years.

For parents who are worried that public schools are going to get one over on them and indoctrinate their children with horrible CRT/LGBTQ curriculum, former Trump policy advisor Stephen Miller is using his new non-profit to empower parents with the legal know-how to protect their impressionable kids.

Fox News reported about this initiative from America First Legal (AFL), a non-profit started by Miller in order to provide legal protections for citizens from "unconstitutional executive overreach."

The non-profit has developed a guide for “helping parents assert their rights in reviewing their child’s school curriculum.”

Essentially this “toolkit” will inform parents about their rights in requesting and seeing the educational material their children are getting in the classroom. That way, parents can find out if teachers are promoting racist or sexually-disturbing lesson plans and put a stop to them.

Thankfully, the AFL has pointed to the exact amendment that parents can appeal to in this legal battle. The piece stated that the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment of 1978 (PPRA) “gives parents the right to inspect all learning materials at schools that receive federal funding.”

That already seems to be an indispensable resource for American parents, many of whom are coming forward with shocking stories about how public schools are teaching their children detestable things without their knowledge.

AFL cited the PPRA, which stipulates that parents are allowed to see “all instructional materials, including teacher’s manuals, films, tapes, or other supplementary material” involved in the child’s curriculum - though schools are not obligated to provide such information unless it's been requested.

As Fox’s piece explained, the Amendment also requires that “parents have the right to review and opt out of certain surveys and studies that ask students for personal information like religious and political leanings.”

Sounds like parents aren’t completely helpless when it comes to their children possibly becoming programmed wards of the state.

“The purpose of this endeavor from America First Legal is to let parents know what their current rights are under federal law," Miller told Fox News, speaking of the significance of the "toolkit."

Miller added that these are things that the ACLU “should be doing, but aren’t doing because they have fallen prey to a political agenda.”

Thankfully, America First Legal is here to take up the mantle of actually caring about Americans’ rights. Someone's got to do it.

Conservative MP Michelle Rempel accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of losing "his shit" in the House of Commons Wednesday after he was questioned on the government's proposed changes to Parliament's rules. During a particularly raucous question period — and just hours before the government unveiled its second budget — Rempel rose in the House to ask Trudeau about his reaction to an earlier question from fellow Tory MP Candice Bergen. "This prime minister purports to be a feminist," Rempel said. "Yet when a strong, confident woman dares to question his arrogance and unilaterally changing the fundamentals of Canadian democracy, he tries to stare her down and yell at her."

Bergen was hammering Trudeau on a discussion paper the Liberals recently released, which the government said included steps to make the House more efficient and transparent. House cameras were on Bergen at the time and did not show Trudeau's reaction to her question. Among the proposed reforms to the Commons include getting rid of Friday House sittings and setting one day aside for the prime minister to answer questions during question period. The paper does not indicate whether the PM would show up to question period on other days. Opposition parties are warning the proposed modernization will make it harder for them to hold the government to account.

Bergen accused Government House Leader Bardish Chagger and the Liberals of trying to "ram" the discussion paper through Parliament. She called the situation "unbelievable" and later recited a quote from former Chinese communist leader Chairman Mao that she said Trudeau would be "familiar" with. "Canada is not China. Canada is not a dictatorship. The prime minister is not the supreme emperor," she said. Rempel later asked if Trudeau would apologize to Bergen or if he would "once again make a woman do his dirty work for him," a presumed dig at Chagger who frequently fields questions on behalf of the prime minister.

Chagger rose to say she was very proud of being a "strong woman that's been empowered by the government." "This House needs modernization, this House needs this conversation, this House needs a solid, substantial discussion, and that's exactly what I'm encourage all of us to do." Once question period concluded, Rempel stood on a point of order to accuse Chagger of saying she would "get" her for asking Trudeau a question.

"Our purpose during question period is to question the government and hold them to account," Rempel said. "After asking a question today the government House leader looked at me and said 'I'm going to get you for this.'" "In that sense, I believe that my privilege and others' here has been violated and as such I task you and ask you to look into this matter," the Calgary MP told House Speaker Geoff Regan.

"Bullying, that's bullying," said another Conservative MP.

Chagger denied making the comment and said she has the "utmost respect" for the House. She said she no problem discussing the issue with Rempel and added that she believes MPs could "work better" in the lower chamber.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday he will not allow governments allied with Moscow to be toppled in so-called “color revolutions,” a reference to the series of popular uprisings that have shaken former Soviet republics.

“We will not allow the boat to be rocked,” Putin said.

During an online meeting with leaders of a Russian-led collective security alliance, Putin blamed last week’s violent unrest in Kazakhstan on “destructive internal and external forces.” He added, “Of course, we understand the events in Kazakhstan are not the first and far from the last attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of our states from the outside.”

Kazakh officials say a 4-year-old girl was among the 164 people who were killed in last week’s protests. Authorities say 5,800 people have been detained. The demonstrations were prompted by a fuel price increase but morphed into a broader protest over the country’s authoritarian rule. Russia and several other members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a Eurasian intergovernmental military alliance formed in 1994, responded by sending troops, although most are Russian.

“The measures taken by the CSTO have clearly shown we will not allow the situation to be rocked at home and will not allow so-called 'color revolutions' to take place,” Putin said. He added that the CSTO contingent would withdraw once order had been re-established and when Tokayev thought the forces were no longer needed.

Putin alleged Monday that the violent unrest in Kazakhstan was carried out by terrorists trained abroad. He said the violence bore the hallmarks of a Western-coordinated Maidan operation, a reference to the protests that toppled Ukraine’s pro-Moscow leader in 2014.

“Well-organized and well-controlled groups of militants were used,” Putin said at the CSTO meeting. “(They]) had obviously received training in terrorist camps abroad,” he added.

The CSTO consists of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. When requesting military assistance last week, Tokayev invoked Article 4 of the CSTO pact, which commits members to assist each other to defend against “foreign interference.” It was the first time that Article 4 was cited by any CSTO member.

The Russian Defense Ministry said around 3,000 paratroopers and other service personnel were being flown to Kazakhstan “around the clock,” with up to 75 transport planes being used in the emergency airlift.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has questioned why Russia deployed troops. America’s top diplomat said Sunday on ABC-TV’s “This Week” that Kazakhstan “has the ability to maintain law and order, to defend the institutions of the state, but to do so in a way that respects the rights of peaceful protesters and also addresses the concerns that they’ve raised — economic concerns, some political concerns.”

Demanding regime change

Sparked by a fuel price increase and cost of living grievances, the protests, which began in the oil-rich western part of the country, rapidly escalated this week into the worst violence Kazakhstan has seen since its independence 30 years ago.

Grievances over fuel prices voiced initially by the protesters grew into a much bigger threat against the government after dozens of people died when Kazakh armed forces opened fire into the crowd.

Demonstrators have demanded regime change and the departures of Tokayev and the country’s 81-year-old former leader Nursultan Nazarbayev, who stepped down two years ago after nearly three decades in power. Nazarbayev, who retained the official title of “leader of the nation,” is still believed to rule behind the scenes. Protesters reference him with chants of “Get out, old man.”

The demonstrations prompted Tokayev to dismiss his Cabinet and Nazarbayev from his position as head of the country’s security council. Authorities also announced the arrest of Karim Massimov, former head of the National Security Committee, on suspicion of high treason.

7 American helicopters took part last night in an operation to land American special forces in northern Syria between the towns of Atma and Deir Balut,

The mission = capture of a senior member of the ISIS organization responsible for the events in al-Sana'a prison, an incident in which hundreds of members of the organization were killed in the past two weeks.

The forces that were deployed were shot at from machine gun on the ground, and a number of fighters were reportedly injured.

‘Barrage of attacks’: Civilians killed in US raid in Syria

Six children and four women among 13 people killed as US special operations forces launch raid in Idlib province, first responders say.

At least 13 people, including six children, have been killed in a United States special operations forces raid in Syria’s rebel-held Idlib province, according to residents and first responders.

The overnight raid targeted a building in Atmeh, a densely populated town in northwest Syria near the Turkish border, where tens of thousands of people displaced by the country’s decade-long war live. There was no immediate information about the identity of those living in the building. Unconfirmed reports said the target was an al-Qaeda-affiliated fighter.

“We woke up at 1am to the sound of helicopters … and then at around 3am we heard a barrage of attacks,” Abu Fahed al-Homsi, a displaced Syrian who lives a block away from the target, told Al Jazeera on Thursday.

“We saw a house that was targeted and damaged roads, but we still have no idea what was going on.”

Residents said the helicopters were hovering over the building for more than two hours, before hitting it with missiles. The US special forces then carried out a landing operation and stormed the house.

Mahmoud Chehadi, who lives nearby, said the US forces had surrounded the targeted building and used loudspeakers to call on its residents to leave the area.

“When the operation ended, we went to the area and saw a woman who apparently detonated an explosive vest, and inside the building, we saw some bodies, including [that of] a man and a child,” he told Al Jazeera.

The Syrian Civil Defense, a volunteer rescue group operating in rebel-held parts of Syria that is also known as White Helmets, said in a statement at least 13 people were killed, including four women.

Local activists and residents quoted by news agencies said fighters in the area clashed with US forces.

The Pentagon did not give any details about the raid but, in a statement, it said the “mission was successful”.

“U.S. Special Operations forces under the control of U.S. Central Command conducted a counter-terrorism mission this evening in northwest Syria,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said.

“There were no U.S. casualties. More information will be provided as it becomes available.”

Idlib province in northwestern Syria is the last rebel-held stronghold in the war-torn country, mostly controlled by former al-Qaeda-affiliate Hay’et Tahrir al-Sham.

US-led coalition operations against remnants of ISIL (ISIS) sleeper cells are more frequent in northeastern Syria, under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.

For years, the US military has also used drones to kill top al-Qaeda operatives in northern Syria, where the fighter group became active over the course of the war that began as a mass uprising against President Bashar al-Assad but quickly morphed into a full-fledged conflict.

The latest raid comes a week after US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin issued a directive ordering military leaders to do more to protect civilians from harm in drone attacks and other combat operations.

The US military has come under renewed pressure to reform its policies following a August strike that killed 10 members of a family in Afghanistan, including several children.

Meanwhile, a December investigation by the New York Times concluded, based on a trove of confidential Pentagon documents, that US air wars in the Middle East have been marked by “deeply flawed intelligence” and “faulty targeting” that has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 civilians over the last decade.
