The office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is signing off on the state’s entry into the multi-state Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
“The Office of Legal Review analyzed the rule making packet and determined that existing state law does not prevent this regulation from being promulgated,” according to a statement released by Shapiro’s office Monday. “The rule of law is the foundation of all the work of our office. The scope of our review under the Commonwealth Attorneys Act is limited and we are prevented by law from rejecting a proposed regulation based on policy concerns.”
That did not go over well with state House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Chairman Daryl Metcalfe, R-Butler, who said Shapiro in his role as an announced candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor “deceptively issued press statements about not being sure if RGGI is right for Pennsylvania in an attempt to shamefully appease his extremely necessary union voting block.”
Metcalf said “resistance to the Wolf/Shapiro unconstitutional and unlawful RGGI scheme must remain absolute across the Commonwealth.”
Metcalfe seems to refer to such remarks as those Shapiro made recently in Indiana, where he told The Indiana Gazette he would have gone about RGGI differently.
“I understand the aims of RGGI, and the goals,” Shapiro said on Oct. 18. “I have real concerns about the impact it will have on consumer prices, hurting families at a time when many are struggling really to put food on the table.”
He did not say he opposed Pennsylvania’s entry into the regional compact to cap and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the power sector, something that now includes Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia.
However, he said, “I am really concerned about the impact on jobs in the energy sector. I do not want to displace workers from their jobs. I’m really concerned about the process.”
He pledged, if he is elected governor next year, Shapiro would seek “to bring all the parties together and make sure we are listening to one another, to make sure we are protecting these jobs in the energy sector and creating new ones.”

After Former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows gave the CCP-tied January 6 Committee thousands of emails and text messages from January 6, the commission is now saying that the texts “may not reflect well on” 45th President Donald Trump.
President Trump’s former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows originally agreed to cooperate with the sham January 6 commission, providing the Committee with thousands of emails and text messages from the day of the Capitol protest. Now, the commission and liberal media reports are claiming that those text messages “may not reflect well” on President Trump.

The messages on Meadows’ personal cell phone and email account, which were voluntarily handed over without any claim of executive privilege, relate to “what Donald Trump was doing and not doing during the riot,” the source added.
These communications offer a window into what people were texting to Meadows on January 6, what he was telling them about Trump in real time, and what the former President was doing for those hours while the Capitol was under attack and rioters were chanting “Hang Mike Pence,” according to the source.
After providing the commission with the communications, Meadows reversed course when National File reported on his connections to Mark Epstein’s Humpty Dumpty Institute – a mysterious Chinese military-linked nonprofit organization advised by dozens of congressional Democrats, including two Democrat Congressmen who are currently sitting on the January 6 Committee; Reps. Bennie Thompson and Adam Schiff.
Now, Meadows is suing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the January 6 Committee over executive privilege.

Austria to Impose $4,000 Quarterly Fine on Those Flouting Vaccine Mandate
Austria’s health minister on Thursday released the details of a government-imposed COVID-19 vaccine mandate that will take effect early next year.
The new measure will require all persons, starting on Feb. 1, who have a place of residence in Austria and are aged 14 and over to get the shot or face heavy quarterly fines.
Austrian authorities announced last month that it would implement a general mandate for the shot early next year, becoming the first European country to do so.
“So-called ‘vaccination deadlines’ take place every quarter,” Austria’s Health Minister Wolfgang Mueckstein explained in a statement, adding that for citizens who do not meet this deadline, a procedure will be initiated.
“[The] procedure amounts to up to €3,600 [$4,071]—taking into account the income and financial circumstances,” Mueckstein said. “Unvaccinated people are reminded every quarter to be vaccinated until the next ‘vaccination deadline’ or to register a reason for an exception.”
The income and other financial obligations of Austrian’s will be taken into account in calculating fines. Alternatively, officials can opt to impose a fine of up to 600 euros (about $680) in shortened proceedings.
People excluded from the measure include pregnant women, children under age 14, and Austrian’s who cannot get the shot for health reasons.
Authorities will write to unvaccinated people every three months reminding them to get their shots or get a doctor to certify their right to an exemption before the next cutoff date. If they continue not to comply, fines can be imposed every three months. Proceedings will be dropped if people produce proof of vaccination in the meantime.
About 68 percent of the Central European nation’s population is vaccinated against the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes the disease COVID-19, according to government data.
A large percentage of the public in the Central European nation is skeptical about COVID-19 vaccines. Austria has one of the lowest vaccination rates in Western Europe.

In looking the new Trump Tower Elevator vidya, specifically looking at :

Crashes usually occur during the take off or landing phase.

There is a straight section of path & grass running E-W behind Precinct 5.
If plane had issues and couldn't make the airport this would seem a logical place to try and put the plane down.
Curious about the last comment in the article "not accessible from the ground" as it would seem that the plane is probably only a few hundred feet from any track or access point.

Israeli billionaire Beny Steinmetz is trapped in Greece after being briefly detained at an airport in Athens two weeks ago.
The sometime real estate investor was detained on an international arrest warrant on Nov. 24, Bloomberg reported. He was released within 24 hours under the condition that he remain in Greece. Greek and Romanian authorities coordinated the arrest, which stemmed from a bribery conviction in Romania.
Romania’s Supreme Court handed down a five-year sentence last December, overturning a lower court’s June 2019 decision to acquit Steinmetz and business partner Tal Silberstein. The high court ruled the pair collaborated with a Romanian businessman and the grandson of the former king in an attempt to defraud the state.
Steinmetz: found guilty of corruption by a Geneva court earlier this year. He was sentenced to five years in jail for bribing a Guinean public official to secure the rights to an iron-ore mine.
Steinmetz has been reported to be a major backer of New York condo developer HFZ Capital Group

The Battle of Kamdesh took place during the war in Afghanistan. It occurred on October 3, 2009, when a force of 300 Taliban assaulted the American Combat Outpost ("COP") Keating near the town of Kamdesh in Nuristan Province in eastern Afghanistan. The attack was the bloodiest battle for US forces since the Battle of Wanat in July 2008, which occurred 20 miles (32 km) away from Kamdesh. The attack on COP Keating resulted in 8 Americans killed and 27 wounded while the Taliban suffered an estimated 150 killed.
As a result of the battle, COP Keating was partially overrun and nearly destroyed.[5][7]: 531–41 Observation Post ("OP") Fritsche was attacked simultaneously, limiting available support from that position.[8] The Coalition forces withdrew from the base shortly after the battle. A deliberate withdrawal had been planned some time before the battle began, and the closing was part of a wider effort by the top commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, to cede remote outposts and consolidate troops in more populated areas to better protect Afghan civilians.[9] The Americans "declared the outpost closed and departed—so quickly that they did not carry out all of their stored ammunition. The outpost's depot was promptly looted by the insurgents and bombed by American planes in an effort to destroy the lethal munitions left behind."[10]
After an investigation, four officers in the chain of command were disciplined for their failure to adequately support the base. Eight aviators were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for helping defend the base. Staff Sergeant Clinton Romesha and Staff Sergeant Ty Carter were awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions during the battle.
Kamdesh base origins
In 2006, Allied commanders identified the Kamdesh area to be key to denying anti-coalition militia the required access to supply lines crossing into and out of nearby Pakistan. This strategy depended upon extending government control by building and maintaining provincial reconstruction team bases. The Allies hoped that extending these bases into Nuristan, one of the most remote and isolated eastern provinces in Afghanistan, they could demonstrate to the entire Afghan population the government's credibility and power. These bases were a key element of the American counterinsurgency strategy.
Colonel John W. Nicholson Jr., Commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division, had observed that Kamdesh was located at a point where three of the valley systems from the Pakistan border in the north converged. Nicholson and officers of his command believed that much of the flow of weapons and troops from Pakistan could be stopped at Kamdesh. Gul Mohammed Khan, the government administrator for Kamdesh District, lived at the intersection of the Landay-Sin and Darreh Ye Kushtoz rivers. These valley and road intersections combined with the political leadership in the area inspired the positioning of the Nuristan PRT.

These 4 states pay unemployment benefits to unvaccinated workers who were fired

•	The governors of Florida, Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee signed laws in recent weeks that allow workers to collect unemployment benefits if fired for refusing to comply with a Covid-19 vaccine mandate.
•	Lawmakers in other Republican-led statehouses may do the same next year.
•	The Biden administration’s national vaccine mandate for large employers is being challenged in court.
Some states are making it easier for Americans to collect unemployment benefits if they’re fired for being unvaccinated against Covid-19.
The governors of Florida, Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee signed laws in recent weeks that change eligibility rules for jobless benefits. Workers in these states who lose a job for refusing to comply with a workplace Covid-19 vaccine mandate now qualify for benefits.
That runs counter to typical state rules, which generally disallow aid if workers are fired for failing to adhere to certain workplace policies, whether related to vaccine requirements or mandatory drug tests, for example, according to labor experts.
Three of the states (Florida, Iowa and Tennessee) are helmed by Republican governors. Kansas’ governor is a Democrat.
Republican lawmakers in other statehouses, including Arkansas, New York and Wisconsin, have introduced similar bills since September, according to a National Conference of State Legislatures database.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if other ones do it, especially when the legislatures get back in session [next year],” according to Andrew Stettner, a senior fellow at The Century Foundation, a progressive think tank
The move comes as many U.S. employers are weighing a workplace vaccine mandate and as fears over the omicron virus variant grow.
About 57% of large businesses require or plan to require Covid-19 vaccinations for employees, according to a survey published Tuesday by Willis Towers Watson, a consulting firm. However, more than half of those will only move forward if a Biden administration vaccine rule takes effect.

But let’s not deliberately spread lies, falsehoods, misinformation and do it in a way that ensures that certain people don’t have access to the ballot. My question to those elected officials is, why are you afraid to let people vote?”
The questions in conservative Utah echo those in states like Arizona, where an outside firm was hired to conduct a review after Trump falsely claimed the 2020 election was stolen. That review, though described by experts described as riddled with errors, bias and flawed methodology, confirmed Democrat Joe Biden’s win in the state.
The review approved Tuesday in Utah, by contrast, will be carried out by nonpartisan legislative auditors.

Jaguars and leopards have builds that are at least somewhat similar, and so I guess one could make an argument that the body of the statue resembles either one.
As for the feet, they do seem to resemble those of a bear, and it is noteworthy that the feet are a totally different color from the rest of the body.

New York City Lawmakers Pass Bill Giving Noncitizens, Illegal Alien “Dreamers” Right to Vote
New York City lawmakers passed a bill on Thursday that would give noncitizens and illegal aliens the right to vote in municipal elections.
The new measure would give 800,000 green card holders and illegal alien “DREAMers” the right to cast a ballot.
The City Council bypassed state lawmakers and passed the measure which will likely prompt a legal challenge.
Republican opponents say the city council does not have the authority to grant voting rights to illegals.
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio has stated he will not veto this measure.
The Washington Times reported:
Noncitizens in New York City would gain the right to vote in municipal elections under a measure approved Thursday by the City Council that would give access to the ballot box to 800,000 green card holders and so-called Dreamers.
Only a potential veto from Mayor Bill de Blasio stood in the way of the measure becoming law, but the Democrat has said he would not veto it. It’s unclear whether the bill might still face legal challenges.
The Council’s vote was a historic moment for an effort that had long languished.
Councilman Francisco Moya, whose family hails from Ecuador, choked up as he spoke in support of the bill.
“This is for my beautiful mother who will be able to vote for her son,” said Moya, while joining the session by video with his immigrant mother at his side.
The measure would allow noncitizens who have been lawful permanent residents of the city for at least 30 days, as well as those authorized to work in the U.S., including so-called “Dreamers,” to help select the city’s mayor, city council members, borough presidents, comptroller and public advocate.
