"Assist the Officer" Video Asks Citizens to Assist Police Officers in Danger by Immediately Calling 9-1-1 Rather than Simply Filming for Social Media.

INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ – The National Police Association (NPA) announced today their latest public service announcement, which is the first educational campaign to inform on the dangers of filming, instead of helping, struggling police officers. The "Assist the Officer" PSA campaign urges listeners and viewers to help law enforcement that appear to be struggling while completing an arrest by calling 9-1-1, rather than merely film an officer in danger for social media.

On October 9, 2020, a Baltimore MTA police officer was found unconscious at the Upton Metro Subway station, with no citizens rendering aid. Instead, an individual chose to film the incapacitated officer with a cell phone to post on social media. On October 17, 2020, a North Carolina police officer was airlifted to a hospital after brutally being beaten, and once again, instead of helping this officer a bystander stood by and filmed the incident. Citizens across the country have taken to filming and posting officers in danger to their social media channels rather than calling 9-1-1. Through the "Assist the Officer" PSA, the NPA aims to create awareness around the dangers posed to both officers and citizens when passersby choose to merely film officers in danger with their phones instead of calling 9-1-1 for assistance.

"Many times, incidents where struggling police officers are captured via cell phones go widely unnoticed, except on social media, with local and national news rarely reporting on the issue," said National Police Association Spokesperson Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith (Ret.) "This PSA will inform citizens on how filming, instead of aiding, a police officer in danger is an incredible risk for law enforcement professionals, and the communities they serve. The NPA strives to end this behavior, and ensure the dangers this poses to police officers gains more news coverage on a local and national level."

With just hours to go until the new year, Reuters reports that a group of the world's largest drug companies is preparing to hike drug prices, defying President Trump to issue a last-minute rebuke, as he has done in the past.

Drugmakers including Pfizer Inc, Sanofi SA, and GlaxoSmithKline Plc plan to raise U.S. prices on more than 300 drugs in the United States on Jan. 1, according to drugmakers and data analyzed by healthcare research firm 3 Axis Advisors.

The hikes come as drugmakers are reeling from effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has reduced doctor visits and demand for some drugs. They are also fighting new drug price cutting rules from the Trump administration, which would reduce the industry’s profitability.

The companies kept their price increases at 10% or below, and the largest drug companies to raise prices so far, Pfizer and Sanofi, kept nearly all of their increases 5% or less, 3 Axis said. 3 Axis is a consulting firm that works with pharmacists groups, health plans and foundation on drug pricing and supply chain issues.

During the early days of the Trump presidency, reports of price hikes elicited angry tweets from the president. This dynamic was credited with staving off a hike or two, but that doesn't change the fact that drug companies tend to raise prices on their inventory at least once, usually twice, per year. Still, even Reuters pointed out that the pace of drug price increases has "slowed substantially" since 2015, per Reuters.

And the Trump Administration is pushing legislation that would constrain drugmakers' ability to raise prices.

Dance Teacher Rapes Boy, Calls Police To Report The Crime: Prosecutor

A Minneapolis dance instructor has been charged with criminal sexual conduct for assaulting one of his teenage pupils, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

Decorey Bozeman, 28, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct for inappropriate contact with an underage-victim who was also his student. After sexually assaulting the victim at his apartment, Bozeman called the police to report what happened. At the same time, the victim contacted their mother to inform her what occurred, and to have her come pick them up.

According to the criminal complaint, on Dec. 28, Minneapolis police responded to a report of a sexual assault at Bozeman’s apartment. Upon arriving, police spoke with the teenage victim, who told them they had spent the night at Boseman’s apartment where the victim was sexually assaulted.

The victim was taken to the hospital where a sexual assault examination was conducted, and the victim further described the sexual encounter.

In a post-Miranda interview, Bozeman told investigators that he picked the student up from a dance studio on Dec. 27, and later engaged in a sex act with the underage-victim, the complaint states.

Senator Jamie Raskin

Raskin was born in Washington, D.C. on December 13, 1962 to a Jewish family.

He is the son of progressive activist Marcus Raskin- a former staff aide to President John F. Kennedy on the National Security Council and co-founder of the Institute for Policy Studies - and Barbara (née Bellman) Raskin, a journalist and novelist.

He graduated from Georgetown Day School in 1979, and received a B.A. from Harvard College (magna cum laude) in 1983 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School (magna cum laude) in 1987. He is a past editor of the Harvard Law Review.[6]

He served as general counsel for Jesse Jackson's National Rainbow Coalition from 1989 to 1990,[7] and represented Ross Perot in 1996 when Perot sued over being excluded from the Presidential Debates and Raskin also wrote a Washington Post op-ed which strongly condemned the Federal Election Commission and the Commission on Presidential Debates.[8]

In November 2006, he was elected as a Maryland state senator for district 20, representing parts of Silver Spring and Takoma Park in Montgomery County.[9] In 2012, he was named the majority whip for the Senate and was the chairman of the Montgomery County Senate Delegation, chairman of the Select Committee on Ethics Reform, and a member of the Judicial Proceedings Committee.[4]

Raskin was a strong proponent of liberal issues in the Maryland Senate and worked well with Republicans and moderate Democrats.[10]

He was the sponsor of bills advocating the repeal of the death penalty in Maryland, the expansion of the state ignition interlock device program, and the establishment of the legal guidelines for benefit corporations, a type of for-profit corporation that include a material societal benefit in their bylaws and decision-making processes.[11][12][13][14]

Raskin helped lead the fight to legalize same-sex marriage in Maryland.[10]

On March 1, 2006, during a Maryland State Senate hearing regarding same-sex marriage, Raskin was noted for his response to an opposing lawmaker: "Senator, when you took your oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. The Grafton hospital employee who admitted to deliberately removing 57 vials of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine from cold storage – and was fired over it – has now been arrested on three felony charges, police have announced.

The hospital employee was arrested on Thursday on “recommended charges” of first degree of recklessly endangering safety, adulterating a prescription drug, and criminal damage to property – all felonies. He is currently being held in the Ozaukee County jail, but his name has not yet been released to the public.

Aurora Health, which runs the hospital where the incident occurred, revealed earlier in the day that the pharmacist in question had been fired. An initial investigation suggested he had “inadvertently” left the vials – each containing 10 doses of the vaccine – out of the refrigerators needed to maintain their integrity overnight. The vials spoiled and had to be “discarded.”

The pharmacist subsequently admitted in writing that he did so deliberately, Aurora Health said, prompting the company to fire him and alert the authorities, including the FBI. His motives have not been revealed.

Pence Asks Judge to Reject Push to Expand His Powers to Decide Electoral College Votes

Vice President Mike Pence asked a federal judge on Thursday to reject an effort to give him “exclusive authority” to decide which Electoral College votes should be counted during the upcoming joint session of Congress.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and other Republicans last week filed a lawsuit against Pence, requesting that the court grant Pence power to decide which votes to count on Jan. 6, 2021, when lawmakers will gather to observe the formal certification of states’ electoral votes for the president of the United States.

Pence argued that he was not the correct defendant to the lawsuit, reported The Hill. In a Thursday filing to U.S. District Judge Jeremy Kernodle, an attorney representing Pence wrote, “A suit to establish that the Vice President has discretion over the count, filed against the Vice President, is a walking legal contradiction.”

According to a filing asking for an accelerated schedule in the case, plaintiffs said that their counsel had “made a meaningful attempt” to reach out to Pence’s counsel but discussions “were not successful in reaching an agreement and this lawsuit was filed.”

The lawsuit concerns Pence’s role as president of the Senate.

In seven battleground states, Republican electors cast alternative slates of votes for President Donald Trump on Dec. 14. They alleged that Trump was the true winner in those states, alleging election fraud and contesting election officials who declared a win for Biden.

Gohmert and other Republicans argued in the lawsuit that the U.S. Constitution clearly outlines the protocol for when alternate slates of electors are presented to the president of the Senate. They say the president of the Senate has “exclusive authority and sole discretion under the 12th Amendment to determine which slates of electors for a state, or neither, may be counted.”

The 12th Amendment of the Constitution states that electors of each state have to meet, and ultimately send the signed and certified votes to the president of the Senate, in this case, Pence.

“The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted,” the 1804 amendment says.

Gohmert is among the dozen or so House members planning on challenging electoral votes during the joint session on Jan. 6, 2021. At least one senator is needed to sustain a challenge.

The power of the vice president to count or reject electoral votes is disputed.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Epoch Times.

We will design an architecture into which these properties are coherently embedded, with a potentially multi-decade evolving lifespan, supporting a business model designed to achieve CBDC policy goals.

What will you do

Reporting to the Director, Fintech Research team in the IT Services department, you use your expertise and intellect to solve unique and difficult problems through the application of cryptography as needed. Working in a talented and diverse team you touch all phases of a research and development project towards meeting challenging policy goals.

You will have the opportunity to use your specialized skills, develop these further and contribute to other areas of the project:

Devise technical solutions to difficult and unique problems either independently, with team members or with external vendors and experts as required

A magnitude 3.3 earthquake near Big Spring, Howard County, Texas, USA, was reported only 15 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 2.4 miles beneath the epicenter around noon on Thursday 31 December 2020 at 12:21 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3 as well.

Meister, an Advisory Board Member for President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, published a series of tweets quoting an Epoch Times article about Vice President Mike Pence’s ability to toss the Electoral Votes from contested states with credible accusations of widespread voter fraud. This move would likely lead to a contingent election, which President Trump would handily win.

The National File has previously reported that Pence will soon face a rare Constitutional event as competing slates of electors are provided on January 6.

Meister notes that “Pence will be faced with dueling electors for the six disputed swing states, a Biden slate from the governors, and a Trump slate from the lawmakers.”

As neither candidate would win the requisite 270 vote majority, a contingent election would be necessary to determine the next President, in accordance with the Constitution.

The coronavirus pandemic took nearly two million lives worldwide and caused unprecedented economic devastation this year, but 2020 had at least three big winners who came out stronger in spite of – or perhaps because of – the pandemic: the world’s billionaires, Silicon Valley’s tech lords, and communist China, where the virus originated.

COMMUNIST CHINA

China’s communist regime is sounding increasingly triumphalist in the wake of the economic destruction wreaked by the pandemic that originated in Wuhan and could have been prevented by Beijing. China’s communist dictator Xi Jinping boasted in his New Year’s Eve address that China is “the first major economy worldwide to achieve positive growth” in 2020, while the rest of the world’s economy shrank.

“China’s economy is projected to grow by 2% in 2020 and by another 8.4% in 2021. By the end of next year, its economy is expected to be 10.6% larger than it was at the beginning of this year,” Axios reports. “By contrast, after shrinking by 3.6% this year and growing by a projected 4% next year, the U.S. economy is going to end 2021 just 0.25% larger than it was at the beginning of 2020.”

Much of this is due to China’s dominance of global manufacturing; and with the whole world still reeling from the pandemic, China is moving to solidify its monopoly on the world’s supply chains through expanded free trade agreements, including a new agreement with the European Union. The pandemic’s economic damage has also allowed China to buy influence in the Third World through its international infrastructure program known as the Belt and Road Initiative, which the U.S. government has criticized as imperialist colonization via a predatory debt scheme.

As Breitbart’s Frances Martel reported:

The Chinese communist state documented a record-high trade surplus in November. Exports around the world increased 21.1 percent over November 2019 despite widespread reports that Beijing is relying heavily on enslaving its ethnic minority Uyghur population to keep production costs low. Dozens of international companies — including big names like Apple, Nintendo, and Nike — have been implicated in the use of Uyghur slave labor, some believed to be based in concentration camps.

Those not outright enslaved may also be vulnerable to forced labor, particularly in the cotton-picking industry. Offered few other options, many Uyghurs work in the cotton industry, sometimes becoming involved without clear consent, researcher Adrian Zenz revealed last month.

Much of the increase in exports for China has been the product of the pandemic causing other countries to limit their manufacturing sectors, and most economic activity in general. China’s imports from outside also declined, given the limited economic activity around the world, resulting in a staggering $460 billion trade surplus with the rest of the world in November.

The Center for Economics and Business Research, a U.K. think tank, predicted this month that, in part because of the pandemic, China was on a speedier path to becoming the world’s largest economy than it had ever been, and may overtake the United States by 2028.

The key to China’s economic resilience lies in its manufacturing sector, which bounced back faster from the pandemic, as did the U.S. manufacturing sector. For example, the U.S. automotive industry was among the industries to get back to work after the initial lockdown because it could set up clear safety protocols to keep factories Covid-free by keeping factory workers six feet apart, distributing protective gear, setting up cleaning stations, and alternating work shifts to deep clean the plant and limit any exposure from Covid outbreaks.

Conservatives are crying censorship hypocrisy again, after Twitter refused to take down an allegedly false tweet by Democrat candidate Jon Ossoff accusing Republican Kelly Loeffler of campaigning with a Ku Klux Klan member.

Ossoff tweeted out a video Wednesday evening accusing Georgia’s two Senators, Loeffler and fellow Republican David Perdue, of using their offices to enrich themselves. Ossoff is running against Perdue, while Loeffler will face Democrat Raphael Warnock in a crucial January 5 runoff election that will decide whether President-elect Joe Biden’s party gets control of both houses of Congress.

Asked by a Fox News reporter whether allegations of wrongdoing against Warnock could “be a drag” on Democrat votes in the runoff, Ossoff said, “Here’s the bottom line: Kelly Loeffler has been campaigning with a Klansman … And so she is stooping to these vicious personal attacks to distract from the fact that she’s campaigning with a former member of the Ku Klux Klan.”

The KKK jab – which marks the latest salvo in Georgia’s heated battle for two seats that will dictate control of the Senate – was apparently a measured attack. Democrats repeated the line on Thursday, with New York activist Jon Cooper tweeting, “Kelly Loeffler campaigned with a Klansman. Pass it on.”

Republicans were outraged in response. Stephen Lawson, spokesman for Loeffler’s campaign, said the comment was “not surprising coming from a pathological liar like Jon Ossoff whose parents still pay his rent.” He added that Twitter should have taken down Ossoff’s tweet, because it’s “a blatant lie.”

Ossoff’s comment was apparently a reference to a selfie that white supremacist Chester Doles took with Loeffler at an event on December 11. Loeffler’s campaign condemned Doles in a statement to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and said that, if she had known who he was, she would have kicked him out of the event.

A CNN fact-check article on Thursday ruled that Ossoff’s claim was false.

Twitter, which has come under fire for its alleged anti-conservative bias in the past, said it won’t flag the tweet as misleading since “making a claim about someone happens in political speech all the time,” the platform’s spokesman Trenton Kennedy told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Thursday.

Twitter’s decision not to intervene came as a bitter pill for Republicans, who watched social media companies block dissemination of reports about the Biden family’s alleged influence-peddling overseas prior to the November 3 presidential election. Those same companies have tried to quash allegations of voting fraud in the election’s aftermath.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Extension of April 10, 2020, Memorandum. On April 10, 2020, I signed a memorandum detailing that countries that deny or unreasonably delay the acceptance of their citizens, subjects, nationals, or residents from the United States during the ongoing pandemic caused by SARS‑CoV-2 create unacceptable public health risks for Americans. I determined that the United States must be able to effectuate the repatriation of foreign nationals who violate the laws of the United States. Sec. 2. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this memorandum shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

(b) This memorandum shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

Colorado Springs police say they arrested a man Thursday who threatened to blow up government buildings with explosives he claimed to have in his truck.

Officers at the Gold Hill substation arrested Shawn Wallace after anti-terrorism agents warned them that a potential bombing suspect was headed in their direction, police said in a news release. Police set up a stakeout near the station, spotted Wallace’s truck, and conducted a “high-risk traffic stop.” Bomb technicians searched the truck, but found no explosives, police said.

Wallace, who had an open warrant in Virginia for “obscene communication,” was arrested without incident, according to police.

President-elect Joe Biden has promised to undo many of Trump's actions but it is unclear how quickly and even to what extent.

Federal judges have limited the impact of the pandemic-related visa bans, which were set to expire Thursday. Biden, who is now forced to decide when and whether to lift them after taking office Jan. 20, doesn't specifically address the issue in his immigration platform.

Biden also doesn't directly address the health-insurance requirement in his platform, and a lawyer who sued over the policy on Thursday urged him to immediately rescind it.

In April, Trump imposed a ban on green cards issued abroad that largely targets family members of people already in the United States. After a surprisingly chilly reception from immigration hawks, the administration went much further in June by adding H-1B visas, which are widely used by American and Indian technology company workers and their families; H-2B visas for nonagricultural seasonal workers; J-1 visas for cultural exchanges; and L-1 visas for managers and other key employees of multinational corporations.

Trump said the measures would protect American jobs in a pandemic-wracked economy, while business groups said they would hamper a recovery.

“The effects of COVID-19 on the United States labor market and on the health of American communities is a matter of ongoing national concern,” Trump's proclamation Thursday read, highlighting the growing number of cases and states' restrictions on businesses.
