SEC Charges Stock Trading Platform Robinhood with Misleading Customers

The SEC has charged popular stock trading app Robinhood with deceiving customers about how the company makes money and failing to deliver the best execution of trades.

CNBC reports that the SEC has charged Robinhood with deceiving customers about how the stock trading app makes money and failing to deliver the best execution of trades. The company has agreed to pay a $65 million civil penalty without admitting or denying the SEC’s findings. A lawyer from Robinhood said that the practices “do not reflect Robinhood today.”

Robinhood, which has plans to go public, has raised over $1 billion in funding in 2020 lifting the company’s valuation to $11.7 billion. The SEC stated: “Between 2015 and late 2018, Robinhood made misleading statements and omissions in customer communications, including in FAQ pages on its website, about its largest revenue source when describing how it made money — namely, payments from trading firms in exchange for Robinhood sending its customer orders to those firms for execution, also known as ‘payment for order flow.'”

The statement added: “One of Robinhood’s selling points to customers was that trading was ‘commission free,’ but due in large part to its unusually high payment for order flow rates, Robinhood customers’ orders were executed at prices that were inferior to other brokers’ prices.”

The SEC order found that Robinhood provided inferior trade prices costing customers $34.1 million. Stephanie Avakian, director of the SEC’s Enforcement Division, commented: “Robinhood provided misleading information to customers about the true costs of choosing to trade with the firm. Brokerage firms cannot mislead customers about order execution quality.”

Barr Defends Not Making Hunter Biden Probe Public Before Election

Attorney General William Barr said in an interview published Friday that he has no regrets over not letting the public know before the election that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s son was under investigation.

Barr told The Wall Street Journal that a Department of Justice (DOJ) rule against publicly confirming probes that involve candidates for office is “not absolute” and that he could think of scenarios in which the government has “decisive evidence of a serious crime against a candidate.”

Absent such decisive evidence, though, Barr said, there’s “damn good reason for the rule,” which protects candidates and people in their orbits from the government.

“Think about the power it would give the federal bureaucracy,” Barr said.

“The standard for investigating someone is low. So just gin up an investigation, make it public, affect every election.”

Barr, in expressing no regrets, tacitly expressed for the first time that he knew Hunter Biden was under investigation by federal authorities before Nov. 3 but didn’t let the public know.

Joe Biden’s team released a statement from the younger Biden last week, in which Hunter Biden acknowledged he was being investigated.

“I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs,” Hunter Biden said in a statement.

“I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisers.”

His father has said he believes his son did nothing wrong and has confidence in him.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has become the first top level Trump administration official to come out and specifically blame Russia for what was widely reported this week as a "massive cyberattack against multiple US federal agencies" including the agencies which oversee America's nuclear arsenal, namely the Energy Department and the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Without offering any evidence or specifics, Pompeo said Russia was "pretty clearly" behind the cyberattack during an appearance on the conservative talk radio Mark Levin Show.

NY Times Podcast Relied On Interviews With Fake Terrorist

The New York Times was forced to retract the core of award-winning podcast “Caliphate” after it was revealed the series relied on the words of an alleged ISIS fighter under investigation for lying about his involvement with the terrorist group.

The Times failed to heed several warnings that the man who played a central role in the series, Shehroze Chaudhry, was not telling the truth. Many journalists, notably Erik Wemple of The Washington Post and Hassan Hassan of Newlines magazine, questioned the accuracy of the journalist’s, Rukmini Callimachi, reporting and reliance on Chaudhry.

The podcast, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and won a Peabody award, centered on the radicalization of a young Canadian who went to Syria to join ISIS who alleged he became an executioner for the group before escaping. Chaudhry, however, has been accused by Canadian authorities of lying about those activities, currently facing criminal charges for perpetrating a terrorism hoax.

Another red flag, Chaudhry changed his story while speaking on the podcast, recanting his previous statement that he had participated in any executions.

Despite this, as New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet described to NPR, the outlet was blindsided by what it believed to be an exclusive scoop:

“We fell in love with the fact that we had gotten a member of ISIS who would describe his life in the caliphate and would describe his crimes. I think we were so in love with it that when we saw evidence that maybe he was a fabulist, when we saw evidence that he was making some of it up, we didn’t listen hard enough.”

What’s more, the Times assistant managing editor Sam Dolnick hyped the programming as “represent[ing] the modern New York Times”:

“Caliphate represents the modern New York Times. It’s ambitious, rigorous, hard-nosed reporting combined with first-rate digital storytelling. We’re taking our audience to dangerous places they have never been, and we’re doing it with more transparency than we ever have before.”

Now, however, atop each Caliphate episode and editor’s note explaining the series shouldn’t have relied on Chaudhry nor did it meet the paper’s standards for accuracy or fact-checking. The episodes are still live on the Times site, but when executive editor Dean Baquet was asked whether Caliphate should be retracted, he responded “I guess for the parts that were about Chaudhry and his history and his background. Yeah, I think it is. Sure does.”

He added he’d work with Callimachi to find a new assignment, noting “I do not see how Rukmini could go back to covering terrorism after one of the highest-profile stories of terrorism is getting knocked down in this way.”

China Tails US Destroyer In 12th Provocative Sail Through Of Taiwan Strait In 2020

China's PLA military says it tailed an American warship through the Taiwan Strait on Saturday, which makes precisely a dozen such incidents in the contested strait in 2020.

In a new statement the PLA's Eastern Theatre Command said it scrambled air and naval forces which "tailed and monitored" the US Navy vessel.

Beijing further charged that the destroyer's provocative passage was meant as a "flirtatious" message to political forces seeking Taiwan's "independence".

The Chinese statement said:

"[US missions] deliberately raise the temperature of the Taiwan issue, as they fear calm in the Taiwan Strait, and send flirtatious glances to Taiwan independence forces, seriously jeopardizing peace and stability in the strait", the Chinese statement said.

The US Navy confirmed the sail-through by the guided missile destroyer USS Mustin, which it considers a routine 'freedom of navigation' operation in international waters in a follow-up statement.

According to Reuters:

The U.S. Navy said the guided missile destroyer USS Mustin had conducted “a routine Taiwan Strait transit (on) Dec. 19 in accordance with international law”.

"The ship’s transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the U.S. commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific," it added.

This is the 12th sailing through the strait by the U.S. Navy this year.

Meanwhile Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said the USS Mustin's movements through the passage were legitimate and that "the situation was as normal."

Tensions are on edge during this final countdown of the last weeks of the Trump presidency, wherein the president is still ratcheting up various sanctions and punitive actions against Chinese tech companies and government officials, also related to the Hong Kong issue. Washington has also of late pursued an unprecedented number of major weapons sales to Taiwan, which Beijing considers a severe violation of the 'One China' policy status quo.

Nathan Larson, 40, was arrested in Denver for harboring a minor

A 12-year-old California girl has been rescued after authorities said she was abducted by a Virginia man, an admitted pedophile who went to prison for more than a year for threatening to kill either President George W. Bush or President Obama.

Nathan Larson, 40, of Catlett, is facing charges of kidnapping, child abduction, solicting child pornography from a minor and meeting a child for the intention of sex, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims told a news conference Saturday. The girl wasn't harmed.

"This particular case is extremely disturbing," Mims said. She said various law enforcement agencies cooperated in the investigation and that cooperation saved the girl's life.

But she cautioned other young girls may have been preyed upon by Larson. "We believe that there are other victims out there," she said.

Larson trolled the girl online and then flew from his home in Virginia to Fresno in order to abduct her, authorities told Fox News.

Authorities got involved Monday when the girl's parents reported her missing.

Mims said investigators developed information that Larson boarded a plane with the girl in Fresno, headed to Washington.

She said the plane had a layover in Denver and that is where police arrested Larson and rescued the girl, reuniting her with her family.

Reuters reported earlier that hackers said to be backed by a foreign state stole data from several government agencies, as many, including US authorities, rush to claim that Russia is behind the sophisticated hack. Moscow has hit back, observing that there is no proof to this end and bringing up earlier calls for cooperation in the cyber sphere.

German companies and institutions use software developed by the American firm SolarWinds, whose clients, including US federal agencies, recently fell victim to hacking attacks, a representative for Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) shared with the tabloid Bild.

According to the German agency’s estimates, the number of those German firms currently suffering from the cyber attack is “insignificant”.

According to the newspaper Handelsblatt, the list of SolarWinds’ clients includes such German giants as Deutsche Telekom and Siemens. The former company said there is yet no indication of any harm from a hacking attack, whereas Siemens representatives said they had taken measures recommended by SolarWinds.

Redacted Information in Dominion Audit Report Shows Races Were Flipped: Analyst

The analyst who led the forensic audit of Dominion Voting Systems in Michigan said on Friday the information state officials pushed to redact shows that the outcomes of races were changed.

“The original report had log evidence that we published in the report to show exactly what we did and exactly the findings. Now, those did ultimately get redacted. And so now, the complaint is ‘well, but there’s no real proof and Dominion says ‘no, these things can’t be done,'” Russell Ramsland Jr. said during a virtual appearance on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports.”

“But at that point, Dominion’s argument is no longer with us. Dominion’s argument is with their own user’s manual and their own logs, because the logs—had they been able to be published—show very clearly that the RCV [ranked-choice voting] algorithm was enacted. It shows very clearly that the error messages were massive. It was very clearly [sic] that races were flipped,” he added.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Ramsland and his team at Allied Security Operations Group earlier this month audited Dominion machines and software in Antrim County, where officials on election night reported a win for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. The officials later said the results were skewed and that President Donald Trump actually received more votes in the county.

The audit was the first conducted post-election of Dominion products. It was part of a court case.

Lawyers for Benson, a Democrat, asked 13th Circuit Judge Kevin Elsenheimer in court last week to order the redaction of the logs before allowing the release of the report, arguing the logs might be source code and publishing them could be a security issue. Matthew DePerno, the lawyer for the plaintiff in the case, said the logs were just setting errors that Ramsland’s team found.

Elsenheimer ultimately sided with the state, saying he didn’t want to allow the release of potentially propriety information. The judge said he might allow an unredacted version of the report to be released in the future.

According to Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Republican lawmakers who refuse to accept President-elect Joe Biden's electoral victory "are bordering on sedition and treason."

Speaking on CNN, Shaheen suggested that Republicans who continue to challenge the election results are violating their promise to defend the Constitution.

"Each of us who are serving as senators took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. One of the most fundamental principles of the Constitution is the peaceful transition of power," Shaheen said. "These senators and members of Congress who have refused to acknowledge that we had a free and fair election in which Joe Biden beat Donald Trump by over 7 million votes, are bordering on sedition and treason."

Shaheen's allegations are very serious, considering federal law says those individuals found guilty of treason against the U.S. "shall suffer death."

The U.S. criminal code on treason reads:

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

The U.S. criminal code on seditious conspiracy reads:

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Shaheen's comments came after the Electoral College met this week to officially confirm Biden's election victory.

Last month, Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) said President Donald Trump and his allies should be tried for "crimes against our nation."

"Donald Trump and members of his administration have committed innumerable crimes against the United States," Pascrell said. "He has endangered our national security. He ripped families apart. He poisoned the Census. He has personally profited from his office. He has attacked our elections and sought to throttle democracy."

"Therefore, in 2021 the entire Trump administration must be fully investigated by the Department of Justice and any other relevant offices," Pascrell added. "Donald Trump along with his worst enablers must be tried for their crimes against our nation and Constitution."

During a conversation with Classic Rock, The Who vocalist Roger Daltrey looked back on guitarist Pete Townshend’s 2003 arrest for the possession of child p*rnography.

Pete was cautioned by British police as part of Operation Ore, a major 2002/2003 child-p*rnography investigation. After admitting he used his credit card to gain access to a child-p*rn site, the guitarist was placed on the sex offenders register for five years.

CNN & Dems call to unleash HELL on Tucker Carlson for ‘trying to kill people’ with vaccine SKEPTICISM as his Covid rant goes viral

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson has questioned the “marketing campaign” behind rushed Covid-19 vaccines and the lack of debate around it. CNN and others have responded by saying the anchor is posing a “clear and present danger.”

While such a message might seem extreme, it’s just one of many reactions to a recent vaccine critique from Carlson.

In a segment on his show, Carlson, one of the president’s more vocal supporters, targeted the “marketing campaign” behind the Pfizer vaccine, noting both reports of allergic reactions to the shots and social media companies cracking down on what they deem to be “misinformation” about it.

The lack of debate and conversation, Carlson noted, only hurts potential “trust” in the vaccine.

“So how are the rest of us supposed to respond to a marketing campaign like this?” he said. “Nervously, if you’re strongly supportive of vaccines, and we are. Even if you recognize how many lives have been saved because of vaccines, and we do. It all seems a bit much, it feels false because it is, it’s too slick.”

Former Trump NSC Member Says DNC, Biden Campaign, ‘Hostile Foreign Intelligence’ Committed ‘Coup’ On November 3

Rich Higgins says it was "the most successful covert action ever conducted against the USA."

Rich Higgins, a Trump loyalist and former NSC member, has said that the election was tantamount to a coup committed by the DNC, communists, and “hostile foreign intelligence.”

Speaking exclusively to National File, Rich Higgins, formerly of the National Security Council (NSC), said that the presidential election was tantamount to a coup committed “against the sovereign American people” by communists, the DNC, Big Tech and “hostile foreign intelligence”:

DNC and the Biden campaign worked with dark money PACs, outside groups like CTCL, and hostile foreign intelligence services supporting BLM and ANTIFA to execute what appears to have been the most successful covert action ever conducted against the USA. The target of this coup was the sovereign American people and the perpetrators were assisted by Big Tech censorship, mainstream media’s propaganda, and it was all enabled by establishment Republicans.

Higgins served as a member of the NSC in the Trump administration until mid-2017, when he began circulating a memo warning that the “deep state” was undermining President Trump’s agenda from within the administration. He was fired by H. R. McMaster from the NSC for this. McMaster was later fired by President Trump for doing what Higgins had pointed out.

Writing in the Wall Street Journal in February this year, Higgins said he was “shocked” that the mission of the NSC was “resistance” against the President’s agenda:

Staffers were assigned to develop plans for ending U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. Instead they came up with reasons it couldn’t be done. Gen. H.R. McMaster, the national security adviser, delivered them to the president and explained why he couldn’t keep his campaign promises. There were a few Trump loyalists on the staff, but we were outnumbered and mostly ignored. It was clear that the Trump presidency wouldn’t succeed unless the resistance was defeated.

The CTCL that Higgins discussed is the Center for Tech & Civic Life, which is couched as a non-profit “election refrom group,” but is funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, including Mark Zuckerberg, and his wife Priscilla Chan, who donated $250 million. The CTCL allegedly engaged in what appeared to be illegal ballot harvesting just before the election.

“This group, the Center for Tech and Civic Life, there’s a lawsuit right now against this group,” said radio host Vicki McKenna, describing a lawsuit raising the concerns in an interview with Michelle Malkin, “Because it’s private money that is being delivered to cities to conduct elections, and if this in fact is the money behind the Madison Event, conduct elections with illegal ballot harvesting.”

WHO (finally) admits PCR tests create false positives

Warnings concerning high CT value of tests are months too late…so why are they appearing now? The potential explanation is shockingly cynical.

The World Health Organization released a guidance memo on December 14th, warning that high cycle thresholds on PCR tests will result in false positives.

While this information is accurate, it has also been available for months, so we must ask: why are they reporting it now? Is it to make it appear the vaccine works?

The “gold standard” Sars-Cov-2 tests are based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR). PCR works by taking nucleotides – tiny fragments of DNA or RNA – and replicating them until they become something large enough to identify. The replication is done in cycles, with each cycle doubling the amount of genetic material. The number of cycles it takes to produce something identifiable is known as the “cycle threshold” or “CT value”. The higher the CT value, the less likely you are to be detecting anything significant.

This new WHO memo states that using a high CT value to test for the presence of Sars-Cov-2 will result in false-positive results.

To quote their own words [our emphasis]:

Users of RT-PCR reagents should read the IFU carefully to determine if manual adjustment of the PCR positivity threshold is necessary to account for any background noise which may lead to a specimen with a high cycle threshold (Ct) value result being interpreted as a positive result.

They go on to explain [again, our emphasis]:

The design principle of RT-PCR means that for patients with high levels of circulating virus (viral load), relatively few cycles will be needed to detect virus and so the Ct value will be low. Conversely, when specimens return a high Ct value, it means that many cycles were required to detect virus. In some circumstances, the distinction between background noise and actual presence of the target virus is difficult to ascertain.

Of course, none of this is news to anyone who has been paying attention. That PCR tests were easily manipulated and potentially highly inaccurate has been one of the oft-repeated battle cries of those of us opposing the “pandemic” narrative, and the policies it’s being used to sell.

The retail giant, which is looking to buy a stake in the social media platform, will hold a fashion event Friday at 8 p.m. ET on the Walmart profile page on TikTok. Here, 10 TikTok creators will provide a shoppable variety hour called the “Holiday Shop-Along Spectacular.”

Each TikTok creator will feature their favorite Walmart fashion find during the one-hour event, making it exclusively their own through closet-ready looks, runway fashions, or dance-off creations. One of the fashion creators to be featured by Walmart includes Michael Le, a TikTok influencer who has nearly 43 million followers and is known for his creative dances on the platform.

Walmart customers that tune into the live-streamed event will be able to shop for Walmart fashion items featured during the show, including brands from Champion, Jordache, Kendall + Kylie, and Walmart’s private brands - Free Assembly and Scoop and Sofie Jeans.

When a customer sees a product that they want to purchase, they can tap on it, add it to their cart, and check out.

Walmart also promises plenty of surprises during the event, which is a first for TikTok in the U.S.

I do so love liberal hypocrisy. What makes it so entertaining is that they are oblivious to their intellectual dishonesty and lack the capacity for introspection. It makes for unintentional humor when they can’t fathom why people laugh at their riotous inconsistency.

The latest installment of liberal hypocrisy comes from an article in the radical left publication Raw Story. It seems that some liberals are questioning Senator Mitch McConnell’s surprisingly easy victory over Democrat Amy McGrath. The author of the piece, Allison Greene, is blissfully unaware that she’s asking some of the same questions asked by Trump supporters in the aftermath of the election.

Just what’s fishy about the vote?

– McConnell racked up huge vote leads in traditionally Democratic strongholds, including counties that he had never before carried.

– There were wide, unexplained discrepancies between the vote counts for presidential candidates and down-ballot candidates.

– Significant anomalies exist in the state’s voter records. Forty percent of the state’s counties carry more voters on their rolls than voting-age citizens.

– Kentucky and many other states using vote tabulation machines made by Election Systems & Software all reported down-ballot race results at significant odds with pre-election polls.

Do you mean to say that a lot of counties in Kentucky have more registered voters than voting-age citizens? Perish the thought! Someone should have told her to ask the cities of Milwaukee, Detroit, and dozens of other Democratic states, cities, and counties how they ended up with more voters than voting-age citizens. I’m sure it would be very instructive.

Just asking questions, you say? Yes…and your point is? The point is that Democrats are allowed to ask questions but if Republicans dare question the results of an election it’s a “conspiracy theory.”

As for the rest, Hot Air’s Jazz Shaw performs the necessary lobotomy on Ms. Greene’s gray matter.

They next note “wide, unexplained discrepancies between the vote counts for presidential candidates and down-ballot candidates.” Yes, it’s called ticket-splitting. Did Ms. Greene fail to notice that Joe Biden allegedly won the popular vote in a “landslide” while the Democrats lost a significant number of seats in the House and are barely hanging on to their majority there? Funny how that works, huh?

How about those “significant anomalies” in the voter rolls and the fact that 40% of Kentucky’s counties record more registered voters than living, voting-age citizens? Yes, we know. That’s true of a lot of primarily Democratic counties all over the country, but you didn’t seem to take issue with it when a Democrat was winning. I’ve been railing about the need to clean up the nation’s voter rolls for years but nobody ever listens. I’m so sorry this is happening to you.

This is what happens when you get someone imbued with “the true faith” to write about something she knows nothing about. It’s like asking an Islamic fanatic to write about Christianity. The results can be entertaining.

And finally, Greene notes that vote totals recorded by the Election Systems & Software voting machines were “at significant odds” with pre-election polling. Really? Ya think? A very brief Google search will produce enough stories about how the polls were once again a steaming pile of hot garbage to fill up an encyclopedia. I would also note the irony in a liberal complaining about the Election Systems & Software machines while not uttering a peep about Dominion. But hey… you do you, Alison.

Dalio’s Audi crashed into the Verizon store at a shopping center Thursday afternoon and burst into flames. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash which almost destroyed the store, according to the Associated Press.

A Scottish man has reportedly been jailed for breaching coronavirus rules after he rode a jetski from Scotland to the Isle of Man to see his girlfriend.

Dale McLaughlan, 28, from North Ayrshire met his girlfriend in September while working as a roofer on the Isle of Man, the BBC reported.

On Friday, determined to see her despite coronavirus rules banning non-residents from entering the island without special permission, he made the four-and-a-half-hour journey by jetski despite never having driven a personal watercraft before. He had expected the journey to take 40 minutes, prosecutors said.

His defence lawyer said in court that McLaughlan suffered from depression and was struggling to cope without his girlfriend. He admitted arriving unlawfully on the island and was sentenced to four weeks in jail.

Deputy high bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith said McLaughlan’s “deliberate and intentional attempt to circumnavigate” the restrictions had posed a risk to himself and the island’s residents.

After departing the Isle of Whithorn in the morning and arriving in the northern town of Ramsey at 1pm, McLaughlan walked 15 miles (25km) to its capital, Douglas.

He gave a policeman his girlfriend’s address as his own. The couple attended two busy nightclubs before he was caught on Sunday following identification checks.

The innermost circles of the American mafia are abuzz. The Boss of the Philly mob — ‘Skinny Joey’ Merlino — is taking a victory strut, hobnobbing around the highest echelons of old-time mafia folk, mostly in Florida, describing what may have been the heist of the century: the 2020 presidential election.

The feat is drawing praise from far-flung corners of the Italian American business community, which sees the thanks of a grateful administration as key to the revival of the community’s political influence.

But an associate says that Merlino might just be willing to flip on Joe Biden and the Pennsylvania political operatives who ordered up some 300,000 election ballots marked for Biden. The source alleges that Merlino and a lean team of associates manufactured those ballots at a rate of $10 per ballot — a whopping $3 million for three days of work. They were then packaged into non-descript cardboard boxes and dropped off outside the Philadelphia Convention Center.

Sources who spoke to The Chronicle on the condition of anonymity say that Merlino picked up those ballots from two private households where a trusted handful of associates were busily marking ballots with Sharpie markers. They were paid more than $1,000 per hour, often producing thousands of ballots every hour for more than 60 nearly-consecutive hours.

The ballots were purchased in cash.

‘Skinny Joey’ Merlino was granted early release from a two-year prison stint earlier this year. If President Trump is willing to offer him a full pardon for current misdeeds and an expungement of past misdeeds, Merlino would be likely to offer stunning testimony before Congress about how the election was stolen.

It’s thought that Democratic Party operatives working inside Philadelphia’s election office provided Merlino with crates of raw ballots just hours before polls closed on election night, which he transported to two private households in South Philadelphia. By 10 p.m. that night Merlino’s operation was already generating more than 3,000 ballots per hour, which quickly scaled to more than 6,000 ballots per hour before midnight.

But now, Merlino might just be willing to flip on Biden — in primetime Congressional testimony — if President Donald J. Trump is willing to issue the longtime mobster a full expungement of his decades-long criminal record. And, of course, Merlino wants to be pardoned for the election fraud itself and any crimes to which he may incriminate himself during his testimony.

“He wants a clean record. He wants to fish and hunt on federal lands. He’d really like a job with the National Parks Service. You need a clean record to get those things,” explains one confidant. “But most of all he wants the thanks of a grateful nation for coming forward.”

Some have postulated that Merlino would be well suited to host a new Bravo series under development called “The Real Gentlemen of Philadelphia”, modeled loosely on that network’s ‘Real Housewives’ franchise. That deal could come with a $2 million per season paycheck.

“He wouldn’t mind a little fame — or a lot of fame,” he jokes. “If he comes forward he’ll probably get a book deal and a movie franchise.”

Political observers believe that Merlino could sell the rights of his story to a major Hollywood production studio for more than $20 million, and a book deal could yield as much as $10 million.

“You have to understand the thing about Skinny Joey is that he is very charismatic and knows how to tell an enthralling story,” the associate explains. “He’d be an incredible movie narrator, and he’d perform excellently in congressional testimony. He could hit that testimony so far out of the ballpark that he becomes a superstar instantaneously — a real celebrity presence.”

The damning congressional testimony — being tentatively dubbed ‘The Biggest Heist in Political History’ — could make it politically impossible for the Republican-controlled legislature in Pennsylvania to certify the State’s 20 electoral votes.

In that incident, Newsom was photographed, maskless, in close proximity to a dozen or so donors and lobbyists in a private room at the restaurant. In response, Miriam Paweł, a longtime chronicler of California Democratic politics, penned a fiery op-ed in the New York Times, headlined, “Gavin Newsom, What Were You Thinking?” As she wrote, “It is hard to say which was more astounding, the hypocrisy or the hubris.” That is, Newsom was partying, even as he was ordering lockdowns for the masses—who, of course, hadn’t been invited to his soirée.

Continuing, Paweł added:

The party at a restaurant where dinner for two costs more than many people earn in a week reinforced a fundamental schism between those who value government as a force for good and those who resent it as the bastion of an out-of-touch elite oblivious to peoples’ needs.

A Tea Partier couldn’t have said it any better.

It’s inarguable that we need strong—as well as, of course, smart—measures to stop the virus, and yet such measures can be credibly imposed only by leaders who are willing to abide by the same standards themselves, and further possessing, meanwhile, a sense of a common destiny with the populace. Thus, President Theodore Roosevelt, who had fought and ranched alongside ordinary Americans earlier in his life, was able to say to an audience of Kansans in 1903:

Townsman and farmer, employer and employed, we must make up our minds that we shall rise or fall together.

People will put up with a lot of privation if they know that the burden is being fairly shared by all, according to a single standard—no special privileges for anyone.

By contrast, Newsom and his fellow elitists seem to be offering nothing but special deals to their cronies—and bad deals to everyone else. That unfair reality is made clear by the fate of another California restaurant, the Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles. Local authorities ordered that restaurant—boasting zero Michelin stars and no glittering customers—to be closed, including its new tented outdoor seating area. And yet at the same time, a Hollywood production company was allowed to set up its commissary facility—including its own tented area for eating—just a few feet away. In other words, while one tent was closed, another tent was allowed to open, right there for local-news TV cameras to see.

It was a shocking juxtaposition, showing power on the one hand and powerlessness on the other. The well-connected Hollywood types, officially deemed an “essential industry,” can operate freely, while mere ordinary restaurants are closed down. Breitbart News and many other sites highlighted the pleas of restaurateur Angela Marsden, now sadly facing financial ruin.

Over 95 Per Cent of Fish Taken from British Marine Protected Area Went to EU

Over 95 per cent of the fish taken out of Britain’s marine protected areas is ending up in the European Union, according to researchers.

Britain’s Conservative Party-led government has already agreed to pay the EU a multi-billion “divorce” settlement — despite having paid far more into the EU budget than t had taken out over the decades — and submit the British province of Northern Ireland to EU regulations in an attempt to secure a Brexit deal, but the bloc is still refusing to agree one, with its demands for continued control over Britain’s national fisheries a key sticking point.

Now a report by the Blue Marine Foundation revealing that over 95 per cent of the 100,000 tonnes taken from Dogger Bank in 2017 and 2018 went to the EU in an “unlawful asset-stripping operation” has added a further wrinkle to the dispute. with the NGO arguing catches which damage the marine environment, vital for the survival of porpoises, seals, and other marine life, are illegal under the Offshore Habitats Regulations.

“What should make it even easier for ministers to enforce the law is the disclosure today that almost none of this unlawful fishing activity is actually benefiting the UK Treasury and in fact it is damaging a marine asset that absorbs lots of carbon, thereby costing the UK money reducing its emissions elsewhere in the economy,” said Blue Marine Foundation executive director Charles Clover.

“What’s happening on the Dogger Bank is not an isolated example – throughout the UK’s waters, we see supposedly protected areas full of destructive industrial fishing boats that don’t even land their catch in UK ports,” said agreed Greenpeace head of oceans Will McCallum.

“Now with Brexit looming large on the horizon, our Government must seize this second chance to turn promises into a reality by properly protecting our marine protected areas and ensuring that our local, more sustainable fleet has great access to our fish.”

The European Economic Community, as the EU then was, changed its rules to designate national fishing waters as a so-called “common resource” shortly before Britain joined the bloc in the 1970s, bringing the richest fisheries in Western Europe with it.

It doles out the lion’s share of Britain’s fish to other EU member-states, with a significant proportion of what is supposed to be Britain’s quota also being landed in the EU by foreign vessels which take the British flag — a trick Parliament tried and failed to outlaw in the 1980s, with judges ruling it could not be stopped under European law.

Consequently, the European Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) has seen tens of thousands of British fishing industry jobs destroyed over the years, and the fishing fleet reduced to less than half its former size.

Reclaiming full control over Britain’s territorial waters is a longstanding goal of Brexiteers, but EU negotiators are determined to retain a degree of control over them, and may even have threatened to ban the British from selling fish into EU markets if they do not submit — a punishment which it has not inflicted on Iceland or Norway, which participate in the EU Single Market via the European Economic Area (EEA) but have not been forced to give up control over their fisheries.

At least ten EU supertrawlers are believed to have descended on Britain’s waters in what may be a last-ditch effort to strip its fisheries of as much as possible ahead of a potential no-deal Brexit at the end of the 2020 “transition” period.

Tens of thousands of house church pastors and evangelists across China have gone into hiding as the Communist Party prepares for what seems like a "final assault" on Christianity in an attempt to eradicate it from the country, according to missions group Asia Harvest.

In its final newsletter for 2020, Asia Harvest said pastors have disconnected from their phones and computers so that government authorities can no longer use those devices to track their movements. These pastors have also reportedly destroyed the microchips inside their ID cards so authorities cannot track their locations using those devices either.

“Each person in China must have an ID card. It is impossible for a person to catch a flight or train, open a bank account, get a job, or rent an apartment without using their card. Each ID card contains a computer chip which is also used to track people's movements,” the newsletter added.

While Asia Harvest declined The Christian Post's request for an interview, CP has reported on many of the key concerns regarding rising persecution that are mentioned in its newsletter, including the regime's attempts to "corrupt the Gospel" by rewriting biblical accounts.

One example of this is a communist textbook that's being used in Chinese schools that falsifies the biblical account found in John 8:3–11. The textbook claims that Jesus murdered the woman who was found in adultery and then referred to Himself as a sinner, too.

The textbook, published by the government-run University of Electronic Science and Technology Press, states: “The crowd wanted to stone the woman to death as per their law. But Jesus said, ‘Let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone.’ Hearing this, they slipped away one by one. When the crowd disappeared, Jesus stoned the sinner to death, saying, ‘I too am a sinner. But if the law could only be executed by men without blemish, the law would be dead.’”

By doing this, the regime hopes to "control the Church and ultimately render it powerless and subservient to the communist system," Asia Harvest added. "The government has openly announced plans to ‘reinterpret’ the Bible and other religious texts, so they will have ‘socialist characteristics.’”

China has also tightened restrictions on the distribution of religious materials in recent months by threatening fines, the closure of printing shops, or even imprisonment for selling Christian books or allowing customers to photocopy hymns, according to Bitter Winter, a publication that monitors religious liberty violations in China.

In October, a printing shop in Luoyang, a prefecture-level city in the central province of Henan, was raided by authorities searching for banned religious materials.

Censorship targeting Christians in China has become so severe that even official government-sanctioned Christian groups are now using the Chinese Pinyin initials “JD” to replace Chinese characters for “Christ” for items in their online bookstore, according to U.S.-based China Aid.

Two official government-sanctioned religious organizations — the Christian Council of China and the Committee of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches of China — have updated titles and descriptions of all their books on “Tianfengshuyuan,” their official WeChat book store, reported China Aid, which exposes abuses and promotes religious freedom, human rights and the rule of law in China.

In April 2018, the Chinese government banned online retailers from selling copies of the Bible. Legally, the Bible can only be distributed by government-approved agencies that supervise Christian churches in China.

Since then, the crackdown on Bibles and religious literature has only increased.

In September, a Chinese Christian online bookstore owner was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined nearly $30,000 for engaging in what the communist regime deems as “illegal business operations.”

Other crackdowns on Christians have involved ordering Christians to renounce their faith and replace displays of Jesus with portraits of Chairman Mao and President Xi Jinping, as well as the ongoing demolition of churches.

To combat these threats to the faith, Asia Harvest has sent 13 million Bibles to China over the years. In 2020, the group sent the most Bibles of any year yet, the newsletter said.

The analyst who led the forensic audit of Dominion Voting Systems in Michigan said on Friday the information state officials pushed to redact shows that the outcomes of races were changed. “The original report had log evidence that we published in the report to show exactly what we did and exactly the findings. Now, those did ultimately get redacted. And so now, the complaint is ‘well, but there’s no real proof and Dominion says ‘no, these things can’t be done,'” Russell Ramsland Jr. said during a virtual appearance on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports.” “But at that point, Dominion’s argument is no longer with us. Dominion’s argument is with their own user’s manual and their own logs, because the logs—had they been able to be published—show very clearly that the RCV [ranked-choice voting] algorithm was enacted. It shows very clearly that the error messages were massive. It was very clearly [sic] that races were flipped,” he added. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office didn’t respond to a request for comment. Ramsland and his team at Allied Security Operations Group earlier this month audited Dominion machines and software in Antrim County, where officials on election night reported a win for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. The officials later said the results were skewed and that President Donald Trump actually received more votes in the county. The audit was the first conducted post-election of Dominion products. It was part of a court case.

Lawyers for Benson, a Democrat, asked 13th Circuit Judge Kevin Elsenheimer in court last week to order the redaction of the logs before allowing the release of the report, arguing the logs might be source code and publishing them could be a security issue. Matthew DePerno, the lawyer for the plaintiff in the case, said the logs were just setting errors that Ramsland’s team found. Elsenheimer ultimately sided with the state, saying he didn’t want to allow the release of potentially propriety information. The judge said he might allow an unredacted version of the report to be released in the future. In the audit, Ramsland said his team concluded Dominion’s voting system “is intentionally and purposefully designed with inherent errors to create systemic fraud and influence election results.” “The system intentionally generates an enormously high number of ballot errors. The electronic ballots are then transferred for adjudication. The intentional errors lead to bulk adjudication of ballots with no oversight, no transparency, and no audit trail. This leads to voter or election fraud. Based on our study, we conclude that the Dominion Voting System should not be used in Michigan. We further conclude that the results of Antrim County should not have been certified,” he added in the report.

Officials disputed the findings in a court filing, alleging the report “makes a series of unsupported conclusions, ascribes motives of fraud and obfuscation to processes that are easily explained as routine election procedures or error corrections, and suggests without explanation that elements of election software not used in Michigan are somehow responsible for tabulation or reporting errors that are either nonexistent or easily explained.” Before the report was released, Benson’s office noted the audit had happened, while urging voters to “be wary of false claims.” Benson said after the report was made public that the Nov. 3 election in the state and across the country “was the most secure in the nation’s history” and alleged “there continues to be no evidence of widespread fraud.” Dominion’s CEO John Poulos in a state Senate hearing this week disputed the report’s conclusions, and the company said in a statement that “the claims made in the report are technologically impossible,” adding, “Dominion machines did not—and could not have—’switched’ or enabled the ‘switching’ of any votes.” Perno on Friday said on Twitter he was looking forward to Benson’s deposition.

Ramsland on Newsmax predicted the emergence of more explosive information soon. “I think that there’s going to be some information [to] come forth in the next few days, that is going to drastically change the playing field,” he said. “And the real question is, will people report on it? We’ll see.”

On July 18, 1947, President Harry Truman signed the Presidential Succession Act. The original act of 1792 had placed the Senate president pro tempore and Speaker of the House in the line of succession, but in 1886 Congress had removed them. The 1947 law reinserted those officials, but placed the Speaker ahead of the president pro tempore.

Throughout most of the 19th century, the Senate assumed it was empowered to elect a president pro tempore only during the absence of a vice president. But what should senators do at the end of a session? Since Congress was customarily out of session for half of each year, what would happen in that era of high mortality rates if both the president and vice president died during the adjournment period and there was no designated president pro tempore? For decades, the Senate relied upon an elaborate charade in which the vice president would voluntarily leave the chamber before the end of a session to enable the Senate to elect a president pro tempore. Fearing that the presidency might thus accidentally slip into the hands of the opposition, vice presidents occasionally refused to perform this little courtesy when the opposing party held the Senate majority.

In 1886 Congress replaced the two congressional officials in the line of succession with cabinet officers, in the order of their agencies’ creation. Proponents of this change argued that the Senate elected its presidents pro tempore based on parliamentary rather than executive skills. No president pro tempore had ever served as president, while six former secretaries of state had been elected to that office.

When the 1945 death of Franklin Roosevelt propelled Vice President Truman into the presidency, Truman urged placing the Speaker, as an elected representative of his district, as well as the chosen leader of the “elected representatives of the people,” next in line to the vice president. Since one could make the same argument for the president pro tempore, Truman’s decision may have reflected his strained relations with 78-year-old President Pro Tempore Kenneth McKellar and his warm friendship with 65-year-old House Speaker Sam Rayburn. After all, it was in Rayburn’s hideaway office, where he had gone for a late afternoon glass of bourbon, that Truman first learned of his own elevation to the presidency.

On Friday the FBI briefed GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Speaker Pelosi on Swalwell’s relationship with the Chinse spy Fang Fang.

Gateway Pundit reports: McCarthy emerged from the briefing Friday afternoon and told reporters at the Capitol that Swalwell ‘should not be on intel’ committee.

“I just think there are definitely 200 other Democrats that I know could fill that place,” McCarthy said.

Swalwell currently sits on the House Intelligence Committee and has access to some of the nation’s most highly classified information.

Fang was a “bundler” for Eric Swalwell and other Democrat candidates but it was also believed the Chinese spy and honeypot had an intimate relationship with Swalwell.

Rep. Swalwell however refused to confirm if he had an intimate relationship with Fang Fang.

The special investigation unit of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office appears to be making final adjustments with higher prosecutorial authorities to drop a case against former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe relating to expenses for controversial dinner functions that his support group hosted.

A group of some 660 lawyers and other parties had lodged a criminal complaint with prosecutors accusing Abe, 66, of violating the Political Funds Control Act, among other charges, over suspicions that his supporters' group illicitly covered shortfalls in expenses for dinner functions held on the eve of controversial taxpayer-funded sakura parties without listing its contributions in political funding reports. The final decision on whether or not the former prime minister should be held criminally responsible will be made by the end of the year at the earliest, based on the results of Abe's statements to prosecutors. Abe's head secretary and others who were involved in covering the shortfalls in expenses will likely face summary indictment on charges of violating the political funds control law.

According to sources close to the matter, Abe's support group headed by the secretary in question has been hosting pre-sakura party dinner functions at hotels in Tokyo since 2013. Abe's office paid around 23 million yen to the hotels for holding the parties between 2015 and 2019, but participants were charged just 5,000 yen each, which only adds up to around 14 million yen. The former prime minister previously told the Diet, "There is no revenue or expenditure involving the supporters' group, so there is no need to include (the transactions) in political funding reports." However, investigations reportedly found that Abe's office had covered the shortfalls After receiving the criminal complaint, the special investigation unit launched a full-scale investigation around fall, and has heard from roughly 100 individuals including officials at Abe's office. Prosecutors take the view that the amount Abe's office collected in participation fees and the additional amount it covered should have been listed in political funding reports. The secretary and others involved in the accounting process have admitted that Abe's office covered the shortfalls, and acknowledged that they were required to describe the process in political funding reports. The special investigation unit is looking further into the matter on the assumption that the shortfalls were covered by political organizations close to Abe's office.

Though the unit is also investigating whether or not the former prime minister was directly involved in the matter, it apparently hasn't found clear evidence suggesting that Abe instructed his supporters' group to cover the shortfalls or to avoid mentioning it in political funding reports – prompting the unit to deem it difficult to hold him criminally responsible.

A law professor at Virginia's Washington & Lee University has devised a creative solution to help create a "racially just" society: double-count the votes of black people to undo America's "structurally racist" political system.

The professor, Brandon Hasbrouck, made his argument in a new op-ed series published by The Nation. Hasbrouck argued that the US political system has given unfair weight to white votes, partly because predominantly white states with relatively few people, such as Wyoming, get two Senators, while largely black cities can only occasionally overcome the mostly white votes from elsewhere in their states. He dismissed the fact that black votes in Atlanta, Detroit, Milwaukee and Philadelphia essentially won Democrat Joe Biden the November 3 presidential election, saying the outcomes in Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania were “worryingly close.”

He graciously suggested that so-called "vote reparations" also should be extended to Native Americans, but his proposal was nevertheless roasted on social media as inherently racist.

"I don't think advocating for systemic racism would be in the best interest of the country, no," one commenter tweeted.

The professor is no stranger to controversial ideas. Washington & Lee touts Hasbrouck, who is black, for doing "groundbreaking work on police abolition." He also has argued that both Washington and Lee should be dropped from the university's name because namesakes George Washington and Robert E. Lee both perpetrated "racial terror."

Hasbrouck argued in an October op-ed in the Richmond Times-Dispatch not only that Democrats must pack the Supreme Court with as many as six additional justices when they retake power, but that the new judges must be "color-conscious" to redress the court's "chronic anti-blackness."

The professor's latest idea may have been even less salable to a broad audience than his earlier arguments. "Thankfully, this is so blatantly unconstitutional that it could never be put into law," one observer tweeted. "It is also, quite possibly, the worst take of 2020, and that is quite the achievement."
