11:48 am EDT: Journalist Cassandra Fairbank testified that President Donald Trump had personally ordered Julian Assange’s arrest from the Ecuadorian embassy in London in April 2019.

Fairbanks said she learned in October 2018 directly from Arthur Schwartz, a Trump backer and member of the president’s inner circle that, the U.S. would have Assange taken from the embassy; that he would only be charged with the Chelsea Manning leaks and not for Vault 7 or DNC email releases; that the U.S. would again go after Manning to testify against Assange; that Richard Grenell, then U.S. ambassador to the Germany and later director of national intelligence, had worked out a deal with Ecuador to hand Assange over, that the order to get Assange had come directly from Trump and that the U.S. would not seek the death penalty to make extradition possible.

All of these things came true, Fairbanks’ testified. Armed with this information she traveled to London from Washington and met with Assange at the embassy where she revealed these details to him.

Upon return she says she was contacted by Schwartz who was furious because he learned of her informing Assange, evidently through surveillance at the embassy. When she tweeted about this Grenell contacted her employer at The Gateway Pundit and tried to have her fired. A panicked Schwarz informed her that there was an investigation into who leaked this information to her. Fairbanks has posted the audio recording of Schwartz’s call.

She testified that Schwartz said Assange and everyone else at WikiLeaks should get “lethal injects.”

Her testimony was read by defense lawyer Edward Fitzgerald after the government objected. But defense argued that hearsay rules do not apply to political testimony, which bolstered the defense argument that Assange’s prosecution is political and therefore violates the U.S.-UK extradition treaty.

9:38 am EDT: Prosecution argued it only learned in the morning of the next scheduled defense witness, journalist Andy Worthington, and did not have sufficient to time to prepare cross examination. Extraordinary, as the prosecution has repeatedly been told by defense witnesses that they are being sent a bundle of prosecution documents sometimes only hours before they were to testify, giving them no time to prepare for cross examination.

It appears Worthington will not appear as a witness and that journalist Cassandra Fairbanks may be up next.

8:24 am EDT: The prosecution Monday morning was trying to establish that even if WikiLeaks was not the first to publish the unredacted State Department cables containing informants’ names (even though only Julian Assange is the only one being prosecuted for it), it made WikiLeaks more liable than others who published first because WikiLeaks has a larger reach on the internet and included a search engine with the files, unlike those who published the cables first.

Violent Mass. Sex Trafficker Sentenced To Prison

BOSTON – A Springfield, Massachusetts, man was sentenced to more than fifteen years in federal prison September 17 for sex trafficking female victims through a prostitution business.

William Coleman, 49, was sentenced to 186 months in prison and five years of supervised release. In February 2020, Coleman pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and nine counts of sex trafficking. Coleman has been in custody since his arrest Dec. 23, 2018.

“This sentencing is yet another success in the fight against the crime of human trafficking in our region,” said Michael Shea, acting special agent in charge of HSI, Boston. “We applaud this sentence as a measure of justice for the victims who suffered often brutal sexual exploitation at the hands of Coleman through his web of illegal activity which covered multiple states. This case could never have been completed without the expert, close coordination of our concerned community of stakeholders in the Western Massachusetts Human Trafficking Working Group.”

“This sentence is a stern reminder of the consequences facing those involved in the unconscionable practice of sex trafficking,” said United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling. “My office, in tandem with our law enforcement partners, remains steadfast in its resolve to eradicate illegal sex trafficking operations that prey on vulnerable victims.”

From 2016 to 2018, Coleman ran a prostitution business in the Springfield area, the greater Hartford, Conn., area, and other parts of Connecticut. Coleman used violence and the drug addictions of eight female victims to coerce them into engaging in commercial sex acts with paying customers. The victims were typically required to turn over all of their earnings to Coleman, and their daily lives were tightly controlled by him. Most of the women were not allowed to keep any of the money they earned, and they were only to obtain their drugs – in most cases, heroin – from Coleman. Victims who did not engage in prostitution for Coleman, or who did not follow his rules, were subjected to physical assaults, sexual violence and the withholding of drugs. Coleman used websites to post prostitution advertisements for the victims working for him.

The coronavirus pandemic likely “could have been prevented” if the Chinese government acted more transparently and the World Health Organization wasn’t “complicit in the spread and normalization” of their propaganda during the outbreak’s early days, an audit from the House Foreign Affairs Committee reportedly says.

The 96-page document authored by Republicans in the committee which the New York Post says it exclusively obtained Monday before its planned release also reportedly calls for the resignation of WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom over his “detrimental impact on the COVID-19 response.”

“It is beyond doubt that the Chinese Communist Party actively engaged in a cover-up designed to obfuscate data, hide relevant public health information, and suppress doctors and journalists who attempted to warn the world,” it said, according to the New York Post.

“Research shows the CCP could have reduced the number of cases in China by up to 95 percent had it fulfilled its obligations under international law and responded to the outbreak in a manner consistent with best practices,” it added, while also saying “it is highly likely the ongoing pandemic could have been prevented.”

The report says on Jan. 1, Chinese officials ordered that the Wuhan wet market where the virus is believed to have come from “be closed and sanitized, destroying forensic evidence that may have provided insight into the origins of the outbreak,” according to the New York Post.

The following day, scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology discovered that the coronavirus was highly contagious but didn’t immediately alert the WHO, it reportedly added.

The document also accuses WHO of ignoring warnings from Taiwan and Hong Kong about the risk of human-to-human transmission and then falsely claiming for weeks that Chinese researchers found “no evidence” of that happening, the New York Post reported.

Trump Administration Reportedly Has Told DC Government to Reopen Street and Remove Painting

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Transportation for records of communication between the Federal Highway Administration and the District of Columbia’s Department of Transportation about the painting of “Black Lives Matter” on and the reopening of 16th Street NW near the White House in Washington, DC (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Transportation (No. 20-cv-02667)).

This lawsuit was filed after the Federal Highway Administration failed to respond to an August 19, 2020, FOIA request asking for:

Emails between the Federal Highway Administration and the District Department of Transportation about the painting of “Black Lives Matter” on 16th Street, N.W. between H and K Streets, N.W.

Emails between the Federal Highway Administration and the District Department of Transportation about the closure of 16th Street, N.W. between H and K Streets, N.W.

Records identifying policies or procedures for closing streets deemed part of the District Evacuation Route.

On September 15, 2020, it was reported that the Federal Highway Administration informed Washington, DC, officials that it wanted them, “to remove the Black Lives Matter plaza sign so that part of 16th street in downtown Washington could be re-opened to traffic.” Further, there is “nothing in writing right now because no one wants to come down on the side against … the Black Lives Matter movement,” and there have been closed door meetings between the Mayor’s office, the Federal Highway Administration, and local businesses affected by the road closure.

On June 5, 2020, after days of protests and riots in Washington, DC, led by the Black Lives Matter movement, a team of artists, residents, District employees, and demonstrators painted “Black Lives Matter” and the District’s crest, which resembles three stars above an “equals” sign, on 16th Street NW. The following day, demonstrators painted “Defund the Police,” a key demand of the Black Lives Matter movement, alongside the “Black Lives Matter” message.

“DC Mayor Bowser shut down a major street near the White House to make a political statement for the BLM/Defund the Police agenda,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Our lawsuit highlights how and why federal dollars should not be used to subsidize this abuse.”

On July 1, Judicial Watch filed a civil rights lawsuit against Mayor Bowser and other officials for First Amendment violations over their refusal to allow Judicial Watch to paint the message “Because No One Is Above the Law!” on a DC street.

In August, Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit against Bowser, the District of Columbia Department of Transportation and the District of Columbia Department of Public Works for records about the painting of “Black Lives Matter” and “Defund the Police” on a DC street in front of the White House

Court orders Leifer’s extradition to Australia

Melbourne teacher wanted in Australia on 74 charges ofsexual abuse and rape of minors; has evaded extradition for over six years

Jerusalem District Court on Monday ordered the extradition to Australia of suspected sex offender Malka Leifer, who faces 74 separate charges for rape of minors and sexual abuse.

Monday’s ruling was another milestone in a case that has been beset by alleged political interference and highly unusual legal claims about mental competence for extradition. Leifer’s legal options have not yet been exhausted, however.

Her lawyers said that she would appeal the extradition ruling to the Supreme Court within the mandated 30 days. If that is rejected, the justice minister can then sign off on the extradition, although his decision can also be appealed to the Supreme Court as a last resort.

At the beginning of the month, the Supreme Court rejected Leifer’s appeal against the Jerusalem District Court’s May ruling that she was mentally fit for extradition.

Three of Leifer’s alleged victims, Dassi Erlich, Nicole Meyer, and Elly Sapper, who have waged a long legal and public campaign for her extradition warmly welcomed the decision.

“This is a victory for justice! A victory not just for us, but for all survivors,” they said in a brief statement.

“Exhaling years of holding our breath!… Today our hearts are smiling!”

Leifer’s attorneys said they had serious claims regarding Leifer’s mental fitness for extradition and that prison medical staff continue to administer her with anti-psychotic drugs.

Prosecutors from the State Attorney’s Office said the ruling marked an important day for “the rule of law, Israel’s international commitments, and especially, the victims of the crime.”

They added: “We are saddened that the proceedings have taken so long, mostly due to Leifer’s efforts to feign mental illness, an attempt which failed according to the district and supreme courts.

The Zionist Federation of Australia said the decision was “long overdue” and that it was “well past time” that Leifer was extradited.

“The survivors deserve justice. We commend the bravery of the survivors who have never wavered in their determination and commitment to bring Leifer back to Australia to face justice,” Zionist Federation of Australia President Jeremy Leibler said.

He also called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ensure the government does everything to facilitate the extradition process, as the prime minister promised him in a meeting last October.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Palestinian security forces have detained dozens of supporters of a rival to President Mahmoud Abbas who is based in the United Arab Emirates, his political group said Monday.

Mohammed Dahlan, a former senior Palestinian official who was banished from the West Bank in 2010 after a falling-out with Abbas, has denied any role in the UAE’s agreement to normalize ties with Israel, which most Palestinians view as a betrayal of their cause.

Dahlan’s political movement said in a statement that dozens of its members have been detained or summoned for questioning by Palestinian security forces in the West Bank in recent days, calling it a “stark violation of the law.”

Palestinian security officials declined to comment.

Dahlan, a former security chief in Gaza, has long been seen as a potential successor to the 84-year-old Abbas. In exile, Dahlan has cultivated close ties with Egypt and the UAE, where he is based.

I really wanted to call this one full circle, but think I have used that name before.This involves three women and a few men, but it is the way this all came to be which is the most interesting thing. The first woman we will call A. You all know her and she ended up with the job. Anyway, the first choice was kind of unusual. The first choice was B. The reason they wanted B is because she spends a great deal of time in the country where she was needed and famous enough, but not too famous where it would work. Finally, she too is known to accept money for arrangements, but here was the sticking point. Usually, even though she is a permanent A list singer in that country, she is the one bearding for lesser known people and never actually has sex with them. They pay to be seen with her and she will live with them, but there is no sex. According to the demands of the ultimate employer, he wanted to be able to have sex with the woman chosen.

The second choice was an interesting choice. We will call her C. She is an interesting choice. She lives in the country where she was needed. C also fit the bill of famous, but not too famous. The commander of Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia has been fired, the Navy announced on Monday.

Capt. Kai Torkelson was relieved of command on Monday “due to a loss of confidence his is ability to command,” a terse Navy news release says.

The news release did not indicate why Vice Adm. Bill Galinis, the head of Naval Sea Systems Command, had lost confidence in Torkelson.

A NAVSEA spokesman told Task & Purpose on Monday that Torkelson is not under investigation.

Torkelson is a third-generation naval officer, who was commissioned by the Virginia Military Institute Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps in 1991, according to his Navy biography.

Initially trained as a submariner, Torkelson moved into the engineering community in 2002 and went on to travel to 14 of Iraq’s 18 provinces to rebuild the country’s military bases.

He became commander of Norfolk Naval Shipyard on June 29, 2018.

His military awards include the Bronze Star along with the Meritorious Service, Navy Commendation and Navy Achievement Medals.

Undercover ICE special agents in Beaumont, Texas, intercepted the man and were able to arrest him before he could carry out the heinous plot

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 23-year-old Northeast Texas man who solicited the murder, necrophilia, and cannibalism of a minor on the dark web was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for child exploitation violations Thursday in the Eastern District of Texas.

This case is being investigated by ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Beaumont; HSI Cocoa Beach; Florida Child Exploitation Task Force; Brevard County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office; Nacogdoches (Texas) Police Department; Texas Department of Public Safety; Customs and Border Protection Air Units; and Shelby County (Texas) Sheriff’s Office.

Alexander Nathan Barter, a resident of Joaquin, Texas, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison and ordered to submit to a lifetime of supervised release for attempted coercion and enticement of a minor and distribution of child pornography Sept. 17 by U.S. District Judge Michael Truncale. He pleaded guilty to the charges Dec. 20, 2019.

As part of his plea agreement with the government, Barter agreed to be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 20 years on each count, with each party reserving the right to request that the terms be sentenced concurrently or consecutively. Barter’s counsel requested that the court impose a total term of imprisonment of 20 years; the government requested a sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment.

According to information introduced as part of Barter’s plea and at sentencing, in October 2018, Barter posted an ad on a dark web site stating, “I’d like to try necrophilia and cannibalism, and see how it feels to take a life. If you’d be willing to let me kill you, are in the U.S. (preferably in the south) and can travel by car, contact me.” An undercover HSI special agent saw the ad and responded, using the persona of a father with a 13-year-old daughter.

Between Oct. 9 and Oct. 19, 2018, Barter and the undercover special agent exchanged a series of messages that included Barter’s repeated interest in killing, raping and eating the 13-year-old child. Barter provided the undercover with instructions on traveling from Florida to Shelby County, Texas, what to tell the child to get her to agree to travel, and how to conceal evidence of their crime. On Oct. 19, 2018, Barter arrived at the designated meet site in Joaquin, Texas, with a knife, trash bag, cellular phone and a tablet.

“In my 23-year-career in law enforcement, this is among the most morally depraved and appalling criminal conspiracies that I have come across,” said Mark Dawson, special agent in charge of HSI Houston. “Without the quick and decisive actions of our special agents from Cocoa Beach and Beaumont, this disturbed predator would still be out there looking for potential victims to carry out his sick and demented fantasies.”

“As this chilling case demonstrates, online talk is not always just talk. The constant vigilance of our law enforcement partners has prevented an evildoer from finding a likeminded accomplice and bringing his grisly plan to fruition,” said U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Cox. “This case is a sobering reminder of how the brave men and women of law enforcement face down the worst of the worst in the scariest of scenarios.”

LONGUEUIL, Quebec (Reuters) - Canadian police on Monday searched an apartment in a Montreal suburb linked to the woman arrested for sending a ricin-filled envelope to the White House and to five other addresses in Texas, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said.

U.S. authorities arrested a woman at the U.S.-Canada border near Buffalo, New York, on Sunday on suspicion that she sent the deadly poison by mail, addressed to the White House. The woman has joint Canadian and French citizenship, two sources said on Monday.

She will appear on Tuesday at 4 p.m. EDT (2000 GMT) in Buffalo before Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr., a spokeswoman for the federal court in the Western District of New York said.

“We believe a total of six letters were sent, one to the White House and five to Texas,” RCMP officer Charles Poirier said outside the modern brown and grey building where the search was taking place. “We can’t confirm that she lived in (the apartment), but it is connected to her.”

Poirier could not say where in Texas the envelopes were mailed, but the police department in Mission, Texas, received a suspicious letter within the last week, Art Flores, a spokesman for the department, said. The department did not open the envelope and turned it over to the FBI, he said.

Flores also said the Mission police had arrested the woman now believed to be held in Buffalo in early 2019, but said he did not have records related to the arrest and referred further inquiries to the FBI.

The FBI is investigating several suspected ricin letters sent to law enforcement and detention facilities in South Texas, a U.S. law enforcement source told Reuters.

So far they have not found any link to political or terrorist groups, but the investigation is ongoing, the source said.

The RCMP’s special Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives team is leading the operation, the RCMP said.

Swedish Space Corporation to Cease Assisting Chinese Companies Operate Satellites

Beijing will soon lose the ability to access its weather and earth-monitoring satellites via ground station locations affiliated with the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) in Sweden, Chile and Australia.

“The geopolitical situation has changed since these contracts were signed in the early 2000s. We have to assess where we can do business and it’s harder for us to make that assessment regarding the Chinese market now,” Anni Bolenius, SSC’s head of communications, told Reuters on Monday, noting that the contracts cover weather and earth-monitoring satellites.

The company’s Chinese contracts also provided Beijing with “support” for manned missions, according to Reuters.

The state-owned company expressed that it will not seek to renew contracts with Beijing, which has been allowed to access Chinese satellites via SSC antenna locations in Sweden, Chile and Australia since at least 2011.

However, specific end dates for the current contracts were not provided.

SSC noted that it would not enter deals with new Chinese businesses either.

The Swedish Defense Research Agency, which operates under the state’s Ministry of Defense, told public broadcaster Sveriges Television in January 2019 that the country’s normally civilian cooperation with Beijing may have shifted to Chinese military control.

“Organizationally, the Chinese space program is to a very, very large extent militarized,” researcher John Rydqvist argued, as reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

At the time, the SSC noted that “SSC has customers in China within civilian functions such as weather, Earth observation, and space physics since the beginning of 2000.”

“Data from such satellites are used for a wide range of civilian purposes and is prevalent all across society,” the company detailed, “for example, to analyze climate change and its consequences and to better utilize natural resources such as forests, water and agriculture as well as for Crisis Response and Disaster Relief where immediate access to reliable information is crucial.”

“As a Swedish, 100 percent government-owned company, if there is at all any doubt that what you are doing with China could enhance military capability, it doesn’t matter if you can go anywhere else – you’re not supposed to do it,” Rydqvist told the SCMP.

“It’s not good for Sweden, and it could potentially be problematic in our important security cooperation with the rest of the EU and the US. If there’s the least amount of doubt, don’t do it.”

Swedish Institute of International Affairs analyst Viking Bohman argued to the SCMP that “Sweden is waking up to its China challenge” and that the defense researchers’ warning came about as part of a concerted international pushback against China.

“When European countries are limiting Huawei’s access to their markets, Swedish authorities begin wondering if they should do the same,” Bohman expressed in January 2019, following the launch of a state probe into the safety of Huawei Technologies as it related to 5G network infrastructure.

However, Anders Ygeman, the Swedish minister for energy and digital development, declared in May 2020 that he "sees no problem about [telecommunications company] Tele2 using Huawei when Swedish customers surf on 5G," according to the Swedish TT News Agency.

Last week, the ABC revealed a massive Chinese database contained specific information about Australia's fledgling space industry.

SSC's Anni Bolenuis said the company had found its relatively small size a barrier to effectively doing business with Beijing.

"It has become increasingly difficult for us to handle the complexity of the Chinese market and therefore we have decided to focus on other markets," she told the ABC, speaking from Sweden.

"We will not enter into any new contracts with Chinese customers after the current contracts expire."

Ms Bolenuis would not detail exactly when the contracts were due to run out, but said they were "long-term" deals that "were entered into quite a long time ago".

She also would not be drawn on SSC's specific concerns about China's recent behaviour.

"I think everyone who has followed developments can see that the Chinese market is complex," she said.

"I won't go further into that, but we have clearly seen that it has influenced our view."

In 2008, SSC was spruiking its new office in Beijing as "an important step" to "maintain contacts and give local support to our Chinese customers as well as further explore our possibilities on a fast-growing Chinese space market".

The Yatharagga station was used in 2013 to monitor China's Shenzhou 10 launch, which was the nation's fifth crewed space mission.

Just three months later, Maj. Gen. Peter Gallagher told me, the ad hoc network created for the Project Convergence exercises is moving more data, faster and further than the equipment was ever designed to do.

Information flows from intelligence satellites – none of them operated by the Army – down to Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington State, which is acting as the equivalent of a theater headquarters for the exercise. Artificial intelligence software there processes the data and transmits vital updates to the frontline combat units at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, 1,300 miles south. How fast can this happen? Gallagher’s boss, Army Futures Command chief Gen. John Murray, has boasted that the timeline from a satellite spotting a target to artillery firing on it has dropped from “tens of minutes” in normal operations to “less than 20 seconds” in Project Convergence

“We’re pushing them to limits that we never envisioned,” Gallagher told me. “It’s a mesh network solution with some advanced networking waveforms” – primarily TrellisWare’s TSM – “that significantly improves the warfighting capability of our maneuver brigades, but it was not fielded to do the things we’re doing.”

Madrid calls for army’s help as Spanish capital heads for partial lockdown amid Covid-19 surge

The regional chief of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has requested help from the army to fight the coronavirus surge in and around the city after local authorities ordered a partial lockdown of some poorer areas starting on Monday.

Fears of another lockdown prompted protests in the city over the weekend.

“We need help from the army for disinfection,” Diaz Ayuso told reporters after her emergency meeting with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez about the coronavirus crisis. The army could also strengthen local police and law enforcement, Diaz Ayuso added, while authorities are trying to bring the spread of the virus under control in Spain’s worst-hit region.

She also requested the government set up makeshift hospitals in the capital again, as the previous facilities were decommissioned three months ago after the number of infections fell in Spain and a strict lockdown was lifted.

At the height of the first wave of the epidemic in March and April, the government deployed thousands of troops to help with the anti-coronavirus effort.

Protesters in some poorer areas of Madrid took to the streets on Sunday complaining of discrimination by the authorities, as lockdown measures predominantly apply to lower income areas with higher immigrant populations. Peaceful protests were held in 12 of the 37 districts affected.

Madrid Mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida disagreed that the measures discriminated against the poor. “There are no first class residents and second class residents,” he tweeted. “We have to be together at this moment.”

The capital accounts for a third of all infections in Spain, and authorities announced the restrictions in areas where the contagion levels exceed 1,000 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Police will set up 60 checkpoints to enforce the measures. Fines starting at €600 euro ($710.6) were announced, but they will not be imposed on the first day, according to local officials.

Madrid’s regional health chief, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, said if these measures did not reduce coronavirus cases, a city-wide lockdown could follow. “If it is necessary to shut down Madrid, we will do it,” he said in an interview with ABC newspaper published on Sunday.

Spain has the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Western Europe. However, PM Sanchez ruled out a second national lockdown in an interview on Saturday.

Barbara Lagoa, a 52-year-old Cuban American conservative federal judge from Florida, sits with Amy Coney Barrett of Indiana near the top of Donald Trump’s list of possible picks to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the supreme court.

Lagoa is quite new to her position on the Atlanta-based 11th US circuit court of appeals, one step below the supreme court. She was appointed by Trump in December 2019, having received overwhelming Senate approval.

Lagoa was appointed to the Florida state supreme court the previous January, by Ron DeSantis, a close ally of Trump, as his first official act as governor. She was appointed to her previous state role by Governor Jeb Bush, in 2006.

Florida is a crucial swing state in the presidential election, the Hispanic vote a target constituency for Trump across the country. The president trails Democratic challenger Joe Biden among such voters but has been gaining ground.

Speaking to Fox News on Monday morning, Trump was asked if politics was part of his decision-making process.

“I try not to say so,” he said. “I think, automatically, it is.”

Lagoa recently joined a major ruling that struck a blow to voting rights in Florida, reversing a decision that struck down a law requiring people with serious criminal convictions to pay all fines and legal debts before regaining the right to vote. Such laws disproportionately disadvantage Black voters.

Lagoa is a member of Florida’s large, influential and largely conservative Cuban American community, her parents having fled Cuba after Fidel Castro’s communist revolution. She grew up near Miami, graduated from Florida International University and studied law at Columbia University, Ginsburg’s alma mater, in New York, NBC reported.

In 2000, Lagoa provided free legal services to US-based relatives of Elián González, a Cuban boy whose plight after his mother drowned while fleeing the island became an international story. Elián was eventually sent back to his father.

If confirmed, Lagoa would be the second Hispanic justice on the supreme court, following the New York liberal Sonia Sotomayor, who was nominated by Barack Obama.

LMPD declares state of emergency ahead of Breonna Taylor decision

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department on Monday announced a state of emergency as it prepares for a grand jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case.

WAVE 3 News obtained a memo sent by LMPD Interim Chief Rob Schroeder, addressed to all personnel, that read in part:

“To ensure we have the appropriate level of staffing to provide for public safety services and our policing functions, effective immediately the LMPD will operate under the emergency staffing and reporting guidelines as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Reponse Plan and collective bargaining agreements until further notice.”

Earlier Monday, LMPD had canceled all requested off days for officers effective immediately. The decision came after talks among department leaders about their expectations for a possible announcement in the Taylor case being made “soon.”

Federal courthouse closing this week in anticipation of Breonna Taylor decision

Taylor, 26, was shot and killed by LMPD narcotics officers serving a warrant at her apartment in March. Her death has sparked more than 100 days of protests around the city.

“Effective immediately, all off-days are hereby cancelled and vacation requests that have not already been submitted and approved are cancelled until further notice,” an LMPD statement addressed to all personnel read in part.

WAVE 3 News Troubleshooters were told members of the department’s Special Response Team were given orders to start preparing, as well as other units within the department.

WAVE 3 News reached out to Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s office to confirm whether the case was being presented to a grand jury Monday. The office declined to comment.

Struggling Lufthansa to slash MORE jobs on top of previously announced 22,000 cuts

German flagship carrier Lufthansa announced on Monday that it will cut more jobs amid projections of a bleak future for the global airline industry in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.

“The previously announced personnel surplus amounting to 22,000 full-time positions will increase as a result of the decisions taken in regards to the third package within the restructuring program,” the company said.

“The change in permanent staffing levels within flight operations will be further adjusted in regards to market development,” it added. The compensation and reduction of surplus personnel will be discussed with the responsible employee representatives.

Lufthansa also said it would put more planes out of service with current losses running at some €500 million ($590 million) a month. “With demand set to be lower than expected through winter as the coronavirus pandemic continues to severely curtail travel,” the airline said it now plans to reduce its fleet by 150 planes by 2025. Lufthansa had previously estimated that it would have to scrap 100 aircraft in response to the unprecedented crisis in the aviation sector.

“After six Airbus A380s were finally taken out of service in the spring, the remaining eight A380s and 10 A340-600s, which were previously intended for flight service, will be transferred to long-term storage and removed from planning. These aircraft will only be reactivated in the event of an unexpectedly rapid market recovery,” the company said. “In addition, the remaining seven Airbus A340-600s will be permanently decommissioned.”

Lufthansa, which received a government bailout worth almost €10 billion ($11.7 billion) in June, said it would have to book €1.1 billion ($1.3 billion) in impairment over its fleet decision.

“The continuing high level of uncertainty in global air traffic makes short-term adjustments to the current market situation unavoidable for the foreseeable future,” it said.

FBI Agent Who Uncovered Weiner Laptop with Hillary’s Emails says FBI Leadership Told Him to Erase All of His Findings

John Robertson, was an FBI Agent who investigated crimes against children. This is how he stumbled upon Hillary Clinton’s emails.

We first reported on Robertson in August of 2018 when the mainstream media was focused on the Trump Russia Mueller sham investigation.

John was assigned to the Anthony Weiner case, a top Democrat married to Hillary Clinton adviser Huma Abedin. During his investigation of Weiner’s computer John discovered thousands of Hillary Clinton emails and blew the whistle on the Comey-McCabe and Strzok cover-up of evidence.

Yesterday the Washington Examiner reported:

“The crickets I was hearing was really making me uncomfortable because something was going to come down,” Robertson said he later told Justice Department investigators. “Why isn’t anybody here? Like if I’m the supervisor of any [counterintelligence] squad … and I hear about this, I’m getting on with headquarters and saying, ‘Hey, some agent working child porn here may have [Hillary Clinton] emails. Get your ass on the phone, call [the case agent], and get a copy of that drive,’ because that’s how it should be. And that nobody reached out to me within, like, that night, I still to this day don’t understand what the hell went wrong.” Robertson wrote a “Letter to Self” in late October after an Oct. 19, 2016, meeting, during which he implored Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Kramer of the Southern District of New York to push FBI leadership to look at the thousands of emails he had unearthed.

“I have very deep misgivings about the institutional response of the FBI to the congressional investigation into the Hillary Clinton email matter … Put simply: I don’t believe the handling of the material I have by the FBI is ethically or morally right. But my lawyer’s advice — that I simply put my SSA on notice should cover me — is that I have completed CYA [Cover Your Ass], and I have done so,” Robertson wrote. “Further, I was told by [Kramer] that should I ‘whistleblow,’ I will be prosecuted.”

Robertson continued: “I possess — the FBI possesses — 20 times more emails than Comey testified to. … While Comey did not know at the time about what I have, people in the FBI do now, and as far as I know, we are being silent. … If I say or do nothing more, I am falling short ethically and morally. And later, I may be accused of being a Hillary Clinton hack because of the timing of all this. … But if I say something (i.e., whistleblow), I will lose my reputation, my career, and risk prosecution. I will also be accused of being a Donald Trump hack.”

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Republican political establishment is lining up to support federal appellate court Judge Barbara Lagoa to be President Donald Trump’s nominee to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U.S. Supreme Court.

But experts questioned whether picking her would help Trump’s chances of winning Florida when Cuban Americans in South Florida, the group most likely to be energized by her selection, are overwhelmingly in his corner already.

Lagoa, 52, who sits on the Atlanta-based 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, was born in Miami to Cuban exiles. Florida Republicans that include U.S. Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio and Gov. Ron DeSantis are touting her legal record and personal background in pressing her case to the White House.

One of the main points in her favor, supporters say, is her Hispanic heritage and the ability to shore up support among Cuban-Americans in South Florida ahead of the general election.

Eduardo Gamarra, a professor of politics and international relations at Florida International University in Miami, said Trump has successfully shored up the wavering support he had in 2016 with Cuban Americans in South Florida. One of his graduate students recently finished a dissertation showing that Cuban Americans have been most influential not under Reagan or Bush but under Trump, “which is a surprising conclusion.”

So the question of whether to solidify that community’s support instead of other groups Trump needs to win, Gamarra said, is a strategic one.

“[Trump] already is running at 55% to 60% support on Cuban Americans, which is about anywhere from 7 to 10 points higher than that he was in 2016,” Gamarra said. “So does he need to go higher than that? … Do they need to really get up to 70% support among Cuban Americans to be able to consolidate victory in Florida?”

Trump polled poorly with middle-class Cubans in 2016 compared with wealthier ones. Gamarra said that picking Lagoa, a former student of his, could be popular in that community.

“I mean, she’s a Hialeah girl,” he said, referring to the heart of the Cuban community in Miami-Dade County. “You can’t get more Cuban American than that.”

Trump has praised Lagoa and federal Judge Amy Coney Barrett, reported to be his other top pick for consideration.

“She’s an extraordinary person. I’ve heard incredible things about her. I don’t know her. She’s Hispanic and highly respected. Miami. Highly respected,” the president said of Lagoa on Saturday.

Trump has also said he would prefer a young nominee who could sit on the high court for decades, and Barret is 48, four years younger than Lagoa.

But Lagoa, who served for more than 10 years on the Florida 3rd District Court of Appeals before DeSantis named her to the Florida Supreme Court in 2019, had a smoother confirmation process after Trump tapped her for the federal appeals court in December.

Lagoa sailed through on an 80-15 vote, in which five Democratic Senators, including vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris, didn’t vote as they were campaigning for the presidential nomination at the time.

Barrett, a devout Catholic, was confirmed by a narrower 54-42 vote in 2017 to the Chicago-based 7th Circuit Court of Appeals after a tense exchange with Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California over the role her faith might play in her decisions.

“Judge Lagoa would bring some things to the U.S. Supreme Court that are not currently there,” said Jesse Panuccio, a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission who vetted her application ahead of her appointment to the Florida Supreme Court. “She’s unlike every sitting justice. The formative experiences of her legal career and life did not come from New York and DC.”

Nevertheless, a Lagoa nomination would be sure to spark vehement opposition from liberal groups. Lagoa refused to recuse herself from a lawsuit at the 11th Circuit regarding Florida’s Amendment 4 law requiring felons to pay all fines and fees before their right to vote can be restored. She had previously considered a similar suit against the law when she sat on the Florida Supreme Court.

She eventually joined the 11th Circuit’s ruling upholding the law, to the dismay of prison reform and voting rights advocacy groups.

“Justice Lagoa was a leading voice in the recent 11th Circuit Court decision that fell squarely along partisan lines and silenced hundreds of thousands of voters in Florida, who months earlier had been legally able to vote,” Desmond Meade of Orlando and the executive director of the Florida Rights Coalition that advocated for Amendment 4, told Politico. “That decision demonstrated why we are fighting so hard for people’s lives to be placed over politics, and that should be the attitude of anyone who aspires to serve on the highest court in the land.”

Trump told Fox News on Monday he’ll likely make an announcement regarding his decision by the end of the week.

“Until the president makes a choice, there will be hour-by-hour rumors in DC about different candidates, potential candidates, (who’s) in the lead,” Panuccio said. “They will be chased down, they will change, and eventually the president will make a decision.

US Dow Plummets 509 Points Amid Fears of Pandemic Worsening

US stocks fell dramatically on Monday as investors pulled out of a slew of industries that would be hurt by the pandemic-related lockdowns being considered once more in several countries as outbreaks worsen.

At closing bell on Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down some 509.72 points, a 1.84% drop, finishing at 27,147.70. The S&P 500, which follows the world’s top companies, fell by 38.41 points, a 1.16% drop to finish at 3,281.06. The Nasdaq Composite, which heavily tracks info tech companies, fell by some 14.48 points, a 0.13% drop to finish at 10,778.80.

Wall Street’s main indexes tumbled on Monday as concerns about new lockdowns in Europe and possible delays in fresh stimulus from Congress raised fears the U.S. economy faces a longer road to recovery than previously hoped for.

Meanwhile, heavily weighted big tech stocks extended the past several weeks’ worth of declines, with Apple (AAPL), Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN) and Microsoft (MSFT) shares each lower in intraday trading. Oracle (ORCL) was the exception among tech names, after the company announced Friday that it was chosen to become TikTok’s “secure cloud technology provider,” and in doing so take a 12.5% stake in the social media service. Shares rose 1.84%

All three indexes had been sharply lower in midday trade, cut early losses nearly in half in the afternoon. Luxury homebuilder Toll Brothers Inc. TOL, +5.09% jumped nearly 5% after the company released a rosy mid-quarter update. But "re-opening" strategies like airlines took a hit: shares of Delta Airlines Inc. DAL, -9.19% were down more than 9%.

Overseas, the pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 fell 2.4%, led lower by sharp drops in the banking and travel and leisure sectors. The gauge is on track for its lowest closing level since the end of July. In Asia, most major stock benchmarks fell by the close of trading. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index retreated 2.1%, while China’s Shanghai Composite ticked down 0.6%. Japan was closed for a holiday. Shares in HSBC Holdings fell 5.3% by the close of trading in Hong Kong to hit a 25-year low after news articles detailed “suspicious activity reports” filed by it and other major banks to U.S. authorities, putting fresh pressure on a stock that has already dropped sharply this year. In London, the stock fell 4.5%.

Looking ahead, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will testify to the House Financial Services Committee on the CARES Act on Tuesday and the House Select Subcommittee on the coronavirus crisis on Wednesday.

BARR: Democrat Hysteria Will Undermine The Very Institutions They Claim To Be Protecting

It is easy to understand the fear in the minds of Democrat Party leaders prompted by President Trump and Senate Majority Leader McConnell stating that they will in fact move forward to nominate and schedule a confirmation vote for a replacement for recently-deceased Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg. That fear has ignited a barrage of proposals that prove beyond doubt the Democrats will stop at nothing to deny Trump a third appointment to the Court and to deny Republicans any future opportunities. They will stop at nothing.

It is by no means certain that McConnell could muster 50 votes to confirm Trump’s nominee, but if he does it would result in a potential 6-3 “conservative” majority on the High Court. This drives abject fear into the very core of the Democrat Party and the pro-abortion movement in this country. The possibility of a Supreme Court that might to even a tiny degree limit abortion rights is a danger to be opposed with every tool possible, regardless of how such actions might damage the Court, the Senate, or the Constitution itself.

The irrationality and borderline idiocy of some of the statements by Democrat leaders is stunning, even by today’s loose standards. Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar declared that the Republicans “stole” the last appointment to the Court (the 2018 confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh) and that the GOP is now “trying to do it again.” Actually, all President Trump has said he intends to do is exercise his clear constitutional prerogative and submit a nominee to the Senate for its “advice and consent”; nothing more, nothing less, and hardly indicative of “stealing” anything.

Democratic Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono, never one to let civil discourse get in the way of intemperate rantings, said publicly that her party will be considering all manner of moves to not only prevent the Ginsburg vacancy from being filled, but to ensure that future Supreme Court vacancies will be handled in such way as to all-but-guarantee only Democrat-friendly nominees will be approved by the Senate. For example, the Hawaiian firebrand declared her party will move to pack the court with more justices than the nine allowed since 1869 by federal law.

As further evidence of the extreme steps to which the Democrat Party will go to ensure it gains a lock on future High Court nominations, Hirono declared they will press statehood for Puerto Rico (to gain the two senatorial seats that almost certainly would be theirs if the island were to become the 51st state), and also end the Senate filibuster should her Party regain a majority in the November 3rd election.

Former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder echoed calls to pack the Court with more justices, to be filled by nominees offered by hoped-for President Biden and a Democrat-controlled Senate come January 2021.

New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler, still smarting from his failed impeachment effort earlier this year, was quick to jump on the court-packing bandwagon. From his perspective, which not surprisingly is shared by former President Obama and 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, any move by Trump and McConnell to fill the Ginsburg vacancy this year is tantamount to a capital offense. This perspective pervades all levels of the Democrat Party despite there being no prohibition whatsoever — in the Constitution, in federal law, or in historic precedent — on the president taking steps to fill the Court vacancy.

The London authority was ridiculed for the alarming tweet - with one resident asking whether they should expect “zombies and aliens”.

The tweet from Wandsworth Council in South West London led to panic from Twitter users

The borough of Wandsworth in South West London also told residents to include “a first aid kit, batteries, a whistle and a torch”.

The campaign left Londoners already concerned about a possible second lockdown blaming the council for “setting anxiety sky-high”.

One user told the council to "read the room" with the country's top scientists set to issue a Doomsday Covid warning to the nation today.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation identified Pascale Ferrier, 53, as the suspect in this case.

Ferrier was previously arrested last year on misdemeanor charges.

Hidalgo County jail records for Ferrier show she was arrested on March 13, 2019 on two charges of unlawful carrying a weapon and one charge of tampering with a governmental record. The Mission Municipal Court arraigned her on these charges and placed her on a $15,000 cash surety bond before the charges were dismissed.

If House Embarks on New Impeachment Push, ‘We’ll Win Entire Election’, Trump Says

On Sunday, US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that she is not ruling out launching a new impeachment proceeding against President Donald Trump in a bid to prevent the Senate from voting on POTUS’ Supreme Court nominee following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

US President Donald Trump said to Fox News that he would win the 3 November election even if he faces an impeachment aimed to bar his Supreme Court nominee from being confirmed to the post after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death.

“I heard if I [nominate], they’re going to impeach me. So they’re impeaching me for doing what constitutionally I have to do. If they do that, we win [sic] all elections”, Trump claimed.

He argued that if House Democrats go ahead with their impeachment drive, his “numbers will go up.”

“I think we’ll win the entire election. I think we’re going to win back the House […] anyway”, POTUS suggested.

He spoke after Pelosi said in an interview with ABC News on Sunday that she does not exclude launching a new impeachment against Trump as a means of keeping the Senate from voting on the US president’s Supreme Court nominee.

"Well, we have our options. We have arrows in our quiver that I'm not about to discuss right now, but the fact is we have a big challenge in our country", she said, when asked if she considers impeachment a way of "stalling and preventing the Senate from acting on this nomination".

Pelosi accused Trump of threatening “to not even accept the results of the [November] election”, adding that the main goal now is to "protect the integrity of the election as we protect the American people from the coronavirus".

Democrats earlier noted that the next Supreme Court justice should be nominated after the 3 November election.

Later this week, Trump is expected to announce his choice of Supreme Court justice to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away on Friday at the age of 87, due to cancer complications.

Last Year’s Impeachment of Trump

On 5 February, the Republican-majority US Senate voted to acquit POTUS after he was impeached by the US House for abuse of power and obstruction to Congress.

This followed developments in September 2019, when the Democrat-led House of Representatives launched an impeachment inquiry into the US president over his 25 July telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which Trump reportedly asked officials in Kiev to probe rival presidential candidate Joe Biden, while threatening to hold back US military aid for Ukraine.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told Kara Swisher of the New York Times in an interview released Monday that the House of Representatives can impeach President Donald Trump “every day of the week for anything he does.”

Swisher, a tech journalist with left-wing views, was pushing Pelosi to commit to doing more to fight back against President Trump, the Republican, and the conservative agenda.

The following exchange ensued:

Swisher: All right, but I’m going to press you one more time. What is your power to do this? I get the election, but you can get up more. You can speak out more. You can do more impeachments, things like that. Do you have enough power?

Pelosi: Well, we can impeach him every day of the week for anything he does. In fact, for —

Swisher: Why not?

Nancy Pelosi: — 200,000 people dying. Well, because look, the American people want to know what we’re doing that affects them directly.

Swisher: OK.

Republicans published a brief clip of that conversation:

The Constitution does not say a president can be impeached for “anything.” Rather, it says: “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

Pelosi also attacked Attorney General William Barr:

Bill Barr is a complete henchman. He’s a disgrace to the office he holds. He shouldn’t even be a lawyer. He should be disbarred. We’ve held him in contempt of Congress. But he is an employee, and the villain here is Donald Trump. And that is what we have to do is to make sure that he is not reelected.

Pelosi predicted confidently that if the election were to be held today, Democrats would sweep both houses of Congress and the White House.

The interview was the inaugural episode of Swisher’s new podcast, Sway.

Nikola founder Trevor Milton has stepped away from his startup, which is working on making tractor trailers powered by hydrogen fuel cells, after he was accused of fraudulently exaggerating the viability of some of his company's technology.

Milton, who denies the allegations, says he resigned his position as executive chairman of Nikola's Board of Directors because "the focus should be on the Company … not me." He said he intends to defend himself against "false accusations."

The news comes just weeks after Nikola struck a major deal with GM to build an electric pick-up truck. Those plans are still moving forward.

Bloomberg reported that Milton had previously exaggerated the functionality of Nikola tractor trailers. This month a short seller, Hindenburg Research, went further, calling Nikola "an intricate fraud built on dozens of lies" and accusing Milton of misleading partners, investors and customers by, among other things, pretending that non-functioning prototypes were actually viable products.

As a short seller, Hindenburg Research stands to profit if Nikola stock plummets. The company says the allegations are false and misleading.

In one eye-catching allegation, Hindenburg says that a video that appeared to show a Nikola big rig driving actually showed it rolling down a large hill. Nikola did not deny that the truck in the video was rolling downhill. However, it maintains that Nikola has since created "real working hydrogen fuel-cell powered semi trucks."

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell took to the floor of the Senate Monday to debunk claims that the Senate does not have sufficient time to consider a Supreme Court nominee before the general election in November.

Citing historical precedent, McConnell argued that the Senate has plenty of time to confirm a nominee and promised that there will be a vote on President Donald Trump's nominee this year.

"President Trump's nominee for this vacancy will receive a vote on the floor of the Senate," McConnell said, reiterating a statement he issued Friday after the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 87, passed away from complications due to pancreatic cancer.

"Now already, some of the same individuals who tried every conceivable dirty trick to obstruct Justice [Neil] Gorsuch and Justice [Brett] Kavanaugh are lining up to proclaim the third time will be the charm," he continued.

"The American people are about to witness an astonishing parade of misrepresentations about the past, misstatements about the present, and more threats against our institutions from the same people who've already been saying for months — well before this — already been saying for months they want to pack the court."

Already, Democrats and some in the media have misrepresented the so-called "McConnell rule," claiming the Republicans are hypocrites for promising to move forward with a Supreme Court nomination during an election year after previously refusing to consider President Barack Obama's nominee Merrick Garland to fill Justice Scalia's vacancy on the court in 2016. Though Democrats say McConnell's 2016 position was no Supreme Court confirmations during an election year, McConnell's actual position was that if the presidency and the Senate majority are of different political parties and cannot agree on a nominee, then the American people may resolve the matter with an election.

This year there is a GOP majority in the Senate and President Trump is a Republican president. Republicans have the constitutional power to fill a Supreme Court presidency and they say it is their obligation to do so.

McConnell also addressed "incorrect" claims that the Senate does not have time to complete the confirmation process before the election.

"We are already hearing incorrect claims that there is not sufficient time to examine and confirm a nominee," McConnell said. "We can debunk this myth in about 30 seconds."

"As of today there are 43 days until Nov. 3 and 104 days until the end of this Congress," McConnell said. "The late iconic Justice John Paul Stevens was confirmed by the Senate 19 days after this body formally received his nominations — 19 days from start to finish."

A NYPD officer has been arrested and charged with acting as an agent of China, according to WABC New York.

Community affairs officer Baimadajie Angwang of the 111 precinct in Queens and a US Army Reservist at Fort Dix acted "at the direction and control" of CCP government officials operating out of the consulate in New York, and was reporting on the activities of ethnic Tibetans, according to the allegations against him.

Angwang is accused of using his official position with the NYPD to give consulate officials access to senior NYPD officials. He is also accused of committing wire fraud, making false statements and obstructing an official proceeding, according to the report.

"None of these activities falls within the scope of Angwang's official duties and responsibilities with either the NYPD or the USAR," reads the complaint.

Angwang, 33, is an ethnic Tibetan native of the People's Republic of China and a naturalized U.S. citizen who referred to himself as an "asset" of the People's Republic of China, according to the criminal complaint. Since June 2018, the FBI said Angwang has been "in frequent communication" with an unidentified Chinese consular official he referred to as "Boss." -WABC

In one phone conversation, Angwang told his handler at the consulate that he offered to "raise our country's soft power" by having the consular official attend NYPD events, and provide the official with nonpublic information about the NYPD's internal workings.

"Angwang also discussed the utility of developing sources for the PRC government in the local Tibetan community and suggested that the primary qualification for a source as follows: 'If you're willing to recognize the motherland, the motherland is willing to assist you with its resources,'" reads the complaint, which adds that Angwang maintained a relationship with at least two PRC officials stationed at the Consulate since prior to 2018, one of whom is believed to have been assigned to the "China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture," a division of the PRC's United Front Work Department ("UFWD"). According to the report, the department is responsible for neutralizing PRC potential sources of opposition.

Recorded conversations have revealed that the PRC officials has been a "handler" of Angwang. He received tasks from them and reported back to PRC officials.

From August 21, 2014, through August 11, 2017, Angwang called and texted one of the PRC official's cellular telephone on at least 53 occasions. From in or about and between June 2018 through March 2020, Angwang called and texted the other PRC official's cellular telephone on at least 55 occasions.

Furthermore, Angwang has been observed entering the Consulate on numerous occasions during these time periods. -WABC

Angwang made his first virtual appearance in federal court in downtown Brooklyn Monday afternoon.

"As alleged in this federal complaint, Baimadajie Angwang violated every oath he took in this country," reads a statement from NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, who added "One to the United States, another to the U.S. Army, and a third to this Police Department. From the earliest stages of this investigation, the NYPD's Intelligence and Internal Affairs bureaus worked closely with the FBI's Counterintelligence Division to make sure this individual would be brought to justice."

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – An NYPD officer faces a variety of charges after being accused of acting as an intelligence agent of the Chinese government.

According to prosecutors, Baimadajie Angwang, 33, was in regular contact with a member of the Chinese consulate, who authorities allege was his “handler.”

Angwang worked at the 111th precinct in Bayside as a member of the community affairs unit. He’s accused of spying for the Chinese government.

The FBI says he worked alongside two officials at the Chinese consulate in New York. Investigators have tapes of their conversations, and other communications.

Federal prosecutors says Angwang provided intelligence on Tibetans living in New York City and throughout the area in exchange for money. He’s also accused of offering those Chinese officials access to senior NYPD personnel.
