Russia receives orders from 20 countries for ONE BILLION doses of world’s first Covid-19 vaccine

A total of 20 nations from Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia have already requested doses of Russia’s breakthrough coronavirus vaccine, which was confirmed to be registered on Tuesday by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At a conference dedicated to the announcement of the vaccine’s registration, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) explained that it had already received orders for a billion doses.

“Together with our foreign partners, we are ready to produce more than 500 million doses of the vaccine per year,” Kirill Dmitriev explained. Everything produced in Russia will be used domestically, and doses for use in other countries will be made abroad.

According to Dmitriev, the RDIF is also working on a humanitarian aid program for developing countries, with the aim of making the Covid-19 vaccine available in states that can’t afford to make or buy their own.

Explaining that vaccination is an acute problem in the world’s poorest countries, Dmitriev said that the fund believes “people around the world should have equal access to a vaccine, regardless of their financial situation.”

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the country had registered the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine. Named “Sputnik V,” the vaccine is due to enter mass production soon, and will be available to the general public from January 2021. Despite being registered, the vaccine will still go through more clinical trials in Russia and the Middle East.

WHO Vows To "Review" Russian COVID-19 Vaccine, Top US Scientist Slams Putin's "Reckless" Move

Update (1145ET): The WHO has decided to review the COVID-19 vaccine candidate officially approved by Russian regulators on Tuesday, saying it would require "a rigorous safety data review".

“We are in close contact with the Russian health authorities and discussions are ongoing with respect to possible WHO pre-qualification of the vaccine,” said Tarik Jasarevic, the United Nations health agency’s spokesman. He made the statement while answering questions during a digital press briefing on Tuesday.

"Pre-qualification of any vaccine includes the rigorous review and assessment of all the required safety and efficacy data."

Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine was developed by Moscow's Gamaleya research institute with help from the Russian defense ministry. It was tested at Moscow's state medical university.

A total of 165 candidate vaccines are being tested around the world, according to a WHO tally. 139 of these are still in pre-clinical evaluation, while 26 have progressed to various phases of human testing. The 6 market leaders have already reached Phase 3.

The Gamaleya Institute candidate being produced in Russia (it's far from the only vaccine project underway in the country) is among the 26 being tested on humans in the country. However, it's still listed as 'Phase 1' for testing.

Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the project's main financial backer, confirmed Tuesday that Phase 3 trials are ready to begin on Wednesday, while mass production likely won't begin until September or October. More than 20 countries have already ordered doses, he added. Jasarevic added that the process being undertaken by the WHO to review the Russian vaccine would be the same undertaken for any other vaccine project.

“Every country has national regulatory agencies that approve the use of vaccines or medicines on its territory,” Jasarevic explained.

"WHO has in place a process of pre-qualification for vaccines but also for medicines. Manufacturers ask to have the WHO pre-qualification because it is a sort of stamp of quality."

"To get this, there is a review and assessment of all required safety and efficacy data that are gathered through the clinical trials. WHO will do this for any candidate vaccine."

But even if things don't work out with the Russian candidate, Jasarevic said, there are many other vaccine candidates in Phase 3, and beyond.

"We are encouraged by the speed by which several candidate vaccines have been developing and as we have been always saying, we hope some of these vaccines will prove to be safe and efficient," said Jasarevic. "Accelerating progress does not mean compromising on safety," he said.

However, Dr. Ali Nouri, a molecular biologist and President of the Federation of American Scientists, slammed Russia's decision as "reckless" and insisted that Russia's vaccine is "well behind" the biggest western and Chinese competitors.

Mexican Cartel Labs Are Flooding U.S. with Meth

In the early part of Fiscal Year 2020, Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles team began focusing coverage on methamphetamine seizures at the southwestern border regions. Increases in seizure data represented a significant tripwire from normal production amounts. Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel are responsible for the incline in Mexico this year, which resulted in unprecedented seizures of product.

As of July 2020, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the ports of entry have seized more than 118,153 pounds of meth, doubling the record year set in 2019.

Barr May Have Had Secret Reasons for Dropping Flynn Case: DOJ Lawyer to Appeals Court

The case of former Trump national security advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (U.S. Army Ret.) took another turn Tuesday in oral arguments before a the D.C. Court of Appeals on the appeal of the court’s mandamus order directing Judge Emmet Sullivan to dismiss the DOJ criminal case against Flynn for perjury despite Flynn having pleaded guilty in the case.

In response to a question by Judge Merrick Garland, acting U.S. Solicitor General Jeffrey Wall told the court Tuesday that Attorney General William Barr may have had secret information that contributed to the reasoning for the DOJ to dismiss the case. Flynn’s attorney Sydney Powell filed for the writ of mandamus when Sullivan embarked on an investigation into the DOJ request for dismissal, appointing an outside counsel and indicating he would seek additional charges against Flynn for changing his plea.

Excerpt from CNBC report:

The DOJ had provided multiple reasons for U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan to throw out its own case against Flynn, who had previously pleaded guilty of lying to the FBI about his contacts with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. in the weeks before Trump’s inauguration.

But Wall, who was representing the DOJ, told a full panel of judges on the appeals court in Washington, D.C., that Barr’s judgment on Flynn’s case came “in the context of non-public information from other investigations.”

“I just wanted to make clear that it may be possible that the attorney general had before him information that he was not able to share with the court,” Wall said, “and so what we put in front of the court were the reasons that we could, but it may not be the whole picture available to the executive branch.”

More Wall: “We gave three reasons. One of them was that the interests of justice were no longer served in the attorney general’s judgment by the prosecution. The attorney general made that decision, or that judgment, on the basis of lots of information–some of it is public and fleshed out in the motion and some is not.” (Transcribed by TGP.)

Barr has appointed several U.S. Attorneys, most notably John Durham, to investigate the conduct of the FBI and DOJ in the investigations into President Trump, his campaign and administration in the Trump-Russia collusion hoax perpetrated by the Clinton campaign and Obama administration.

President Trump: ‘Last Thing I’m Thinking About’ After Coronavirus Is a Phase Two China Deal

President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively in the Oval Office on Monday that he is not currently considering negotiating a phase two trade deal with China.

Trump said in the nearly 30-minute exclusive interview that because of the coronavirus pandemic, which originated in Wuhan, China, and spread around the world, he is not considering negotiating another deal with China at this time.

“We made a great deal, on the phase one deal,” Trump said. “The last thing I think about right now is phase two. It’s the last thing I’m thinking about right now, is a China phase two deal, after what they did to us on the China virus.”

When asked for more details on what else exactly he intends to do to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for the Wuhan coronavirus, the president was less specific.

“They should have stopped it, it being there,” Trump told Breitbart News of the coronavirus when asked how he will hold China accountable. “We’ll see what happens. I can’t tell you yet, but we’ll see what happens. They certainly started it and they could have held it. Look, it didn’t get into China. But it went all over the world. They could have stopped it. They should have.”

Asked to lay out what he has done as president to combat the Chinese Communist Party, Trump laid out several actions he has taken particularly with regard to trade and helping American farmers.

“You take a look at on trade, you take a look at what we’ve done on trade deals and everything else,” Trump said. “But you also look at what I’ve done to them on tariffs—massive tariffs. We’ve taken in literally hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs. It’s had an impact that’s positive. We’ve given $28 billion to our farmers because they were targeted by China. Nobody has ever done that before. That was one of the weak spots. China had told other administrations they were going to target the farmers. So the other administrations always caved. I said that’s okay, you target the farmers and I’ll target you. We charged them a tariff, a 25 percent tariff. We’ve taken in tens of billions of dollars. We actually gave $12 billion plus $16 billion and then more this year to the farmers because that’s the amount of money that the farmers we’re targeted for. So the farmers—you ever notice you never hear anything bad from the farmers? It’s because they hit pay dirt because of me. Without me, they would be out of business right now. They hit pay dirt. We gave them $28 billion for targeted aid. You have to say thank you China, because China paid it—we didn’t pay it.”

In recent exclusive interviews, Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have laid out how much Trump has done on China.

General Motors' CFO Resigns After Just Two Years To Work At Stripe

Mired in recession and dealing with the toughest environment for auto sales over the last several decades, the U.S. auto industry has seen another top executive depart. Just days after we reported turnover at the CEO role at Ford, General Motors is following with a C-suite shakeup of its own, as its CFO leaves after just two years to work at a fintech startup.

The company announced today that John Stapleton, GM North America chief financial officer, has been named its acting global chief financial officer, effective Aug. 15, after the resignation of the company's current CFO, Dhivya Suryadevara.

Suryadevara is leaving the company on short notice, similar to the departure of Ford's CEO, Jim Hackett, who quit last week. According to Bloomberg, Suryadevara will join PayPal competitor Stripe, as its CFO, the San Francisco-based company said.

GM CEO Mary Barra said that "Dhivya has been a transformational leader in her tenure as CFO. She has helped the company strengthen our balance sheet, improve our cost structure, focus on cash generation and drive the right investments for our future. We wish her every success."

Suryadevara said: "I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given at GM. While I look forward to a new opportunity that will allow me to apply my skills in a new sector, I have great confidence in GM's trajectory and future." Stapleton, who is temporarily taking over duties, has been with General Motors since 1990 and has served in several different finance roles with the company.

GM shares were up as much as 3.5% to 28.96 shortly after the open of regular trading Tuesday.

After Multiple Ft. Hood Soldiers Murdered, 2 More Soldiers Arrested in Child Trafficking Sting

The Fort Hood military base in Texas has come under extreme scrutiny in recent months, as numerous dead soldiers were found on or around the base. This week, the base was in the news again after two Fort Hood soldiers were caught up in the bust of a child trafficking ring. The soldiers were among nine Texas residents who were arrested during a two-day child sex trafficking sting in Killeen, the city where the base is located.

“The overall goal of this joint effort was to locate and arrest subjects who were willing to make overt efforts to pay minors to engage in sexual acts,” police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said, according to KWTX.

Miramontez said that social media exchanges between the men running the organization and undercover agents showed that they knowingly traded money, drugs, and alcohol “for sexual acts with girls they believed were 15 or 16 years of age.”

The men arrested include Anthony 25-year-old, Xavier Antwon of Fort Hood, 40-year-old Javier Perez, of Austin, 21-year-old Brian Harley Flynn, of Temple, 25-year-old Brandon Anthony Lee, of Killeen, 42-year-old Dustin Edward Johnson, of Lott, 30-year-old Timmy Jones Jr., of Fort Hood, 39-year-old Shaun Paul Moore, of Kempner, 28-year-old Rakeem Jamal Nelson, of Killeen, and 32-year-old Pierre Jean, of Killeen.

This news comes on the heels of another sex trafficking bust that took place last month in which 6 Fort Hood soldiers were arrested in a sex trafficking sting. It also comes after a string of suspicious and outright violent and gruesome deaths of soldiers.

The first missing soldier to be reported by the national media was found dead near the base on June 21st. The remains were identified as 24-year-old soldier Gregory Morales, who had been missing for months. His death was not even being investigated, as officials with the Army believed that he deserted the base, but now they do suspect that he was murdered.

Then on July 1st, the body of 20-year-old Vanessa Guillen was found near the base. A suspect in that case, Fort Hood soldier Aaron Robinson, shot and killed himself as police moved in to arrest him. Then last month, another missing soldier’s body was found 15 miles outside of the military base, making it the third body found in just the last month. The remains were identified as 26-year-old Mejhor Morta, a soldier from Florida who just joined the army last year as a mechanic.

Countless people have taken to social media after the discovery of Morta’s body and have called for the closing of Fort Hood.

This will never make the news because the 5-year child who was shot dead in front of his sisters while riding his bicycle was WHITE and was killed by his BLACK neighbor

It doesn't fit their narrative

Five-year-old boy is shot dead at point blank range by neighbour, 25, as he rides bike in his own front yard in front of his two sisters, 8 and 7

North Carolina police charged Darius Sessoms, 25, Monday with the murder of five-year-old Cannon Hinnant

Hinnant's family say the boy was riding his bike in front of his father's house in Wilson on Sunday when Sessoms approached and shot him in the head

The young boy's two sisters, 7 and 8, witnessed the shooting

Sessoms is their next-door neighbor and the families are said to have known each other for years

A motive for the killing has not been released but a family member said the young boy rode into Sessoms' yard

Neighbors say Sessoms had visited Hinnat's father Austin earlier that day

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/aug/11/william-barr-sought-dismiss-michael-flynn-case-bas/

Attorney General William P. Barr moved to drop the criminal case against President Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn because of “undisclosed” information, a Justice Department lawyer said Tuesday.

Appearing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District Columbia Circuit, Acting Solicitor General Jeffrey Wall said the decision to abandon the Flynn prosecution was prompted by a combination of public and secret evidence.

“The attorney general based that decision or that judgment on the basis of lots of information, some of it is public and fleshed out in the motion and some of it is not,” Mr. Wall told the court.

Mr. Wall said the non-public information has come from other investigations, but did not elaborate.

“It is the core of any judge’s job to assess cases using the best arguments that can be made on both sides,” said Judge Cornelia Pillard.

“And your position is that ‘no, he can’t both hear both sides of the law and he has to drop the case like a hot potato without adversary closing argument,’” Judge Pillard told Flynn’s attorney.

Mr. Wall, who argued on behalf of Flynn, said Judge Sullivan doesn’t have the authority to buck the Justice Department.

“Once the government decides to drop a prosecution, that’s it,” he said. “General Flynn can invoke a separation of powers to protect his liberty. This should go no further.”

Ms. Powell accused Judge Sullivan of “usurping” prosecutors and having the “now-glaring appearance of bias.”

NZ descends into mayhem....after Ardern announces new Covid lockdown over FOUR new cases

Excerpt:

Ms Ardern assured the public supermarkets would remain open and fully stocked during any lockdown, and urged people not to flock to stores.

Her plea fell on deaf ears, with about 50 people queued out the front of Countdown in Westgate, northwest Auckland, by about 10pm on Tuesday night.

The store normally closes about 11pm, but shut its doors at 10.30pm following the influx of people.

Footage taken at Countdown in New Lynn showed panicked residents had ripped the doors open and flooded inside, scrambling over the top of one another and ignoring all social distancing protocols.

Police were called as security tried to control the crowds, which included a woman with her baby who insisted she needed food for the child.

'I counted over 200 people in the line, there are cars literally queuing up outside because there aren't enough car parks,' one of the shoppers in the queue told NZHerald on Tuesday night.

'It was chaos,' another said. 'There was traffic blocking all of the roads leading to the supermarket, the parking lot was completely full and there were cars queued to get into the parking lot....

'Corruption is bigger than the state': Lebanese PM's amazing admission as he and his cabinet RESIGN over explosion that killed 160 saying he has faced a brick wall trying to bring in reforms as country teeters on the brink

Lebanon's prime minister and his cabinet resigned tonight in the wake of the devastating Beirut explosion which has killed more than 160 people.

Hassan Diab told the nation in a televised address: 'Today we are heeding the people and their demands to hold accountable those responsible for a disaster.'

The Prime Minister blamed a 'corrupt' political class that has ruled Lebanon for more than 30 years for the August 4 explosion, sparked when a warehouse fire ignited 2,750 tons of highly explosive ammonium nitrate that had been stored in the city's port for six years.

Diab praised his government - assembled after previous Prime Minister Saad Hariri stepped down amid protests over corruption - for fighting 'valiantly and with dignity' to reform the country.

But he said that 'I have discovered an apparatus of corruption that is greater than the state,' heaping pressure on Hezbollah-backed President Michel Aoun who will now lead a search for his replacement.

'Between us and change is big powerful barrier,' Diab added as a parting shot.

DOJ Lawyers Hint At Explosive New Evidence That Led Barr To Drop Charges Against Michael Flynn

Sara Carter

Aug 11, 2020

https://saraacarter.com/doj-lawyers-reveal-explosive-news-of-possible-evidence-that-led-barr-to-drop-charges-against-michael-flynn/

Michael Flynn’s case took center stage again Tuesday, as his attorney Sidney Powell argued to the D.C. Circuit Court that dismissing the case against her client is the judicial and appropriate legal action to take since Justice Department prosecutors had asked for the case to be dismissed.

Stunningly, it appears that there is more evidence that has not been made public in the case of Flynn that led the Department of Justice and Attorney General William Barr to request that the charges be dropped. For Powell and Flynn the news of new evidence supporting his innocence is significant.

It has been a tumultuous battle over the past year against Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, who has been fighting against the DOJ’s decision to drop the charges against the three-star general, who once served under President Obama as his director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Powell has been arguing all year that Sullivan’s actions teeter on extreme bias against her client and she has also stated that his actions, which have prolonged the case against Flynn, are unjustified.

The Justice Department attorney Jeffery Wall, along with Powell argued and answered questions of the panel that was grilling them on all the details of the case. It was during the trial that Wall hinted at the new evidence in support of Flynn.

He told the judges that Barr’s decision to drop the charges against Flynn, were in part, due to information that the DOJ hasn’t yet shared with the public. Wall said “the Attorney General sees this in the context of nonpublic information from other investigations.”

“It may be possible that the attorney general had before him information that he was not able to share with the court and so what we put in front of the court were the reasons that we could, but it may not be the whole picture available to the executive branch,” he added. “The attorney general made that decision or that judgment on the basis of lots of information. Some of it is public and fleshed out in the motion. Some of it is not.”

The hint at more evidence and information obtained by Barr in Flynn’s case is not surprising as the Justice Department has its own ongoing investigation into the FBI’s alleged malfeasance in the handling of Flynn’s case and that of its investigation into President Donald Trump’s campaign.

Wall did not reveal what the information might be but it may have something to do with the ongoing investigations at the Justice Department.

These Justice Department investigations are separate but concurrent with the current trial against Flynn that was instigated by the same culprits in the FBI. Sullivan’s handling of the case before his court has been consistently criticized by Flynn’s supporters, who view the charges against him as concocted.

Powell, who has been fighting for Flynn’s freedom since taking over his case last year, told the 10 panel judge court that her client is guaranteed by the Constitution a fair and speedy trial. His trial has been nothing of the sort, she argued, as Sullivan, who is overseeing his case has failed to adhere to the Justice Department’s request to dismiss the case against her client.

“Gen. Flynn is a defendant without a prosecutor,” Powell told the court. She stressed to the judges that it’s the DOJ that determines whether or not to prosecute a case, not the judge that is supposed to be ‘by law’ impartial.

She also argued that Sullivan’s “court can’t continue a prosecution on its own.”

The arguments, both by Powell and by the Justice Department, cited the case of U.S. v. Fokker as D.C. Circuit Court precedent for Flynn’s case. Powell noted that the case used a mandamus and the situation in the Fokker case was similar Flynns.

The panel of judges, however, was tough and they pushed Powell on both the historical context of the Fokker trial and the arguments made by Sullivan’s amicus curiae.

For example, Judge Judith Rogers pointed out that in the case of Fokker the judge had already ruled making the situation different than that of Flynns.

Powell, however, argued that it was not up to Sullivan to appoint himself as a pseudo prosecutor in Flynn’s case based on the actions he has taken to ensure that the case is not dismissed against her client. For example, she noted that the process of dragging out the case is unconstitutional to his right to a speedy and fair trial, as well as Sullivan’s actions because the process he created in the case is “way beyond the pale.”

Powell reiterated that the process installed by Sullivan into Flynn’s case shows extraordinary bias on the part of Sullivan who went out of his way to appoint his friend and retired judge, John Gleeson, as his amicus curiae in the case. Gleeson’s arguments on behalf of the court in a case where the executive branch had dropped charges is extraordinarily unusual. Why? Because a mountain of evidence has surfaced revealing that Flynn is not guilty of a crime. There was never any precedent, what-so-ever, to charge him or investigate him as a conspirator of the Russian government and further, the FBI agents who interviewed Flynn never believed he was lying.

Moreover, days before the FBI special agents interviewed Flynn at the White House in January, 2017 an FBI memo of the counterintelligence investigation into Flynn revealed that “no derogatory information” was found on Flynn, nor anyone associated with Flynn.

The memo literally asked that the investigation into the three-star general be dropped but former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok refused to drop the case and continued the investigation into Flynn. Strzok has since been fired from the FBI for his actions during the now debunked Russia Trump campaign investigation.

New Report Reveals US Special Forces Active in 22 African Countries

The US has roughly 6,000 military personnel scattered throughout the continent with military attachés outnumbering diplomats in many embassies across Africa.

A new report published in South African newspaper The Mail and Guardian has shed light on the opaque world of the American military presence in Africa. Last year, elite U.S. Special Operations forces were active in 22 African countries. This accounts for 14 percent of all American commandos deployed overseas, the largest number for any region besides the Middle East. American troops had also seen combat in 13 African nations.

The U.S. is not formally at war with an African nation, and the continent is barely discussed in reference to American exploits around the globe. Therefore, when U.S. operatives die in Africa, as happened in Niger, Mali, and Somalia in 2018, the response from the public, and even from the media is often “why are American soldiers there in the first place?”

The presence of the U.S. military, especially commandos, is rarely publicly acknowledged, either by Washington or by African governments. What they are doing remains even more opaque. U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) generally claims that special forces go no further than so-called “AAA” (advise, assist and accompany) missions. Yet in combat, the role between observer and participant can become distinctly blurry.

The United States has roughly 6,000 military personnel scattered throughout the continent, with military attachés outnumbering diplomats in many embassies across Africa. Earlier this year, The Intercept reported that the military operates 29 bases on the continent. One of these is a huge drone hub in Niger, something The Hill called “the largest U.S. Air Force-led construction project of all time.” The construction cost alone was over $100 million, with total operating costs expected to top $280 billion by 2024. Equipped with Reaper drones, the U.S. can now conduct cross border bombing raids all over the North and West of Africa.

Judicial Watch Uncovers the Cost of Travel Expenses for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s LAPD Security Detail

Judicial Watch announced today that it obtained the details of the travel expenses of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) security detail from fiscal years (FY) 2015 – 2018. Over the four-year period, $438,195.06 of taxpayer money was spent on their flights, lodging, meals and incidentals. These costs do not account for salaries and potential overtime.

This information was obtained from a California Public Records Act (CPRA) request seeking:

Any and all record concerning, regarding, or relating to monetary expenses of the Mayor’s security detail;

Every fiscal year budget of the Mayor’s security detail;

Any records and communications concerning, regarding, or relating to the Mayor’s security between the LAPD and the following entities:

The Office of the Mayor;

The California Fraternal Order of Police.

The timeframe of the records was July 1, 2013, to present.

The security detail travel expenses from FY 2015-2018 break down as follows:

Total Cost: $438,195.06

Airfare: $154,077.27

Lodging and Car Rentals: $132,516.87

Meals and Incidentals: $54,063.66

Specific International trip costs:

$16,408.81 to Paris

$5,525.47 to Aukland, New Zealand

$6,996.48 to Beijing

$22,270.16 to Rio de Janeiro

$4,842.52 to Doha, Qatar

$2,895.61 to Mexico City

$9,163.79 to Aarhus, Denmark

$10,712.44 to Berlin

$8,145.91 to Lausanne, Switzerland

$2,185.20 to Lima, Peru

$9,437.12 to Paris

On June 3, 2020, Fox News reported that Mayor Garcetti said, “that he tasked the city to ‘identify $250 million in cuts’” from the police department budget. Adding that, “Garcetti said it is incumbent on the city to ‘step up and say, “What can we sacrifice?’”

On June 3, 2020, The Los Angeles Times reported that in response to Mayor Garcetti’s request, Los Angeles officials stated that, “they will look to cut $100 million to $150 million from the city’s police budget as part of a broader effort to reinvest more dollars into the black community.”

On November 2, 2018, The Los Angeles Times also uncovered and reported that, “Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s security detail has racked up nearly $450,000 in travel costs since 2015 as Garcetti visited other parts of the United States and foreign countries …” According to the Times, Garcetti’s travel was intended, “to bolster his national profile ahead of a possible presidential run …”

“Mayor Garcetti would defund the police and weaken police protection for citizens while personally benefitting from police protection as mayor on junkets abroad,” stated Judicial Watch Tom Fitton.

Ten experts on a NIH COVID-19 panel have ties to companies involved in coronavirus treatment

Eight members of NIH's COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel list financial ties to Gilead Sciences, whose COVID-19 drug remdesivir has been touted by Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Members of the National Institutes of Health's COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel have financial ties to a company behind clinical trials of a drug to treat coronavirus, as well as to another large pharmaceutical company involved with developing a COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the NIH, members of the panel include U.S. physicians, statisticians, and other experts who are developing treatment guidelines on COVID-19 "intended for healthcare providers."

A total of eight panel members list a financial relationship with Gilead Sciences on the panel's Financial Disclosure for Companies Related to COVID-19 Treatment or Diagnostics document: Judith Aberg, MD, Adaora Adimora, MD, Jason Baker, MD, Roger Bedimo, MD, Eric Daar, MD, David V. Glidden, PhD, Susanna Naggie, MD, and Pablo Tebas, MD.

The U.S. has reportedly bought almost all of Gilead Sciences' supply of the COVID-19 drug remdesivir. The company announced on June 1 the results of a phase 3 clinical trial of the drug in patients with moderate COVID-19.

On Monday, Gilead applied for FDA approval of remdesivir, which has been available for emergency use with patients hospitalized with severe cases of COVID-19.

"The data shows that remdesivir has a clear-cut, significant, positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), announced back on April 29 in an interview with NBC News, citing results of a large international study sponsored by his NIAID.

"And all of the other trials that are taking place now have a new standard of care," said Fauci.

Dr. William O'Neill, a cardiologist and Medical Director at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Mich., told Just the News contributor Sharyl Attkisson in an interview for her news program "Full Measure" that he is less impressed with remdesivir.

"There is a lot of hype for the drug," said O'Neil, adding that he sees "no big benefit" to remdesivir after reading medical journal reports on it.

Andrew T. Pavia, MD and Rajesh Gandhi, MD list Merck on the NIH disclosure form.

Merck is currently conducting clinical trials for a COVID-19 vaccine. Merck's target date for a licensed COVID-19 vaccine is early 2021, according to recent congressional testimony.

The COVID-19 treatment guidelines are "based on published and preliminary data and the clinical expertise of the panelists, many of whom are frontline clinicians caring for patients during the rapidly evolving pandemic."

Fauci is not listed on the NIH financial disclosure form.

The Future is 'Clear', And It's Dystopian: Virus Hype Ushers in a Covid-1984 Nightmare of Restricted Access

Clear's new Health Pass and other 'Covid hi-tech innovations' are a stark warning of how the globalist 'New Normal' being mapped out will operate. Access to travel, sport & restaurants may be barred for all who refuse to comply.

"Originally launched in May, Health Pass is an extension of Clear's mobile app. The service links COVID-19 related data like a health questionnaire and temperature check to assess whether someone is healthy enough to enter a certain venue. Additionally, the app has the capability to link COVID-19 test results through partnerships with labs, and eventually vaccination status."

That's how Condé Nast Traveller described the latest piece of technology by the biometric ID company Clear, which will help the authorities determine who will, and who will not, be allowed to go to the ball.

Apartheid may have officially ended in South Africa almost 30 years ago, but it is coming back big-time in countries that pride themselves on their commitment to 'human rights.' Only, this time, it won't be people's color that will determine what they can and cannot do, but their digital 'Health Pass.' Don't want to get tested or vaccinated for coronavirus? Then just stay at home, old bean. It's your 'choice.' The fact that a large percentage of the elderly don't have smart phones and so can't download apps doesn't matter. Age discrimination, and discrimination against the disabled, is a key element of the coronavirus 'New Normal.'

It's likely that the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be very excited by Clear's work. The hardcore globalist organization has been promoting on Twitter a 'Covid-Pass' app, due to launch in September, that could "revive global travel and large events during the pandemic."

White House: $400 per Week Unemployment Benefits Starting in About 2 Weeks

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the $400 weekly unemployment benefit payment, authorized under President Donald Trump’s recent executive action, will be distributed within several weeks.

Trump on Saturday issued an executive order to continue the expanded federal payments, which include $300 in federal money and $100 in state money.

On Monday, Mnuchin said in a late evening press conference that the payments could be expected “within a week or two.” A reporter was asking questions to him and President Trump in the briefing.

“Within the next week or two, most of the states will be able to execute,” he said in full.

And on Tuesday, White House adviser Larry Kudlow, who is in charge of the National Economic Council, told Fox News that the payments will be sent out in about two weeks.

The federal unemployment payments of $600 per week were discontinued on July 31, while Congress has remained deadlocked in talks on a forthcoming measure. Top Democrats have said that they want to see those benefits continue until early next year, while Republican Senators sought to pay $200 per week.

“The baseline of unemployment from states is roughly $400 per person per week, that’s the median. On top of that, the federal government is going to put in $300. … We will work with [governors] if there’s any complications,” Kudlow said.

Kudlow stipulated that other Democrat-proposed measures “too high,” adding that “a third of it has nothing to do with COVID-19,” referring to the House-passed HEROES Act. “That needs to be stripped out. That’s Democratic left-wing wish list, take that out, chop their number down.”

Some governors this week said they are not receptive to the White House’s plan on unemployment.

“We started with a $30 billion hole, and your solution [will] cost me another $4 billion? Thank you,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) told a press conference. “That’s handing the drowning man an anchor. Hold on to this.”

Hush-hush preparations are underway at a hotel ballroom in Delaware.

WILMINGTON, Del. — Just before midnight on Monday, workers darted in and out a side door of the grand old Hotel du Pont, pausing for brief cigarette breaks or a chat, then getting back to setting up for an unspecified event. The effort had been underway for hours, at least.

“Can’t tell you,” one man said when asked why everyone was working so late.

The setup in an ornate ballroom — soft purple and blue lighting, screens, possibly a sound system — could be for anything, or anyone.

But as Mr. Biden’s advisers prepare for an imminent vice-presidential announcement and Mr. Biden plans to accept the presidential nomination from Delaware next week, it is worth noting that the Hotel du Pont was where he announced his 1972 Senate candidacy. It is also where he has made major political appearances in the decades since — including, in March, the last in-person event he held before the coronavirus shuttered the campaign trail for months.

Workers who were seen setting up for the event at the hotel appeared to be from BNY Production, a company that has been a frequent vendor for the Biden campaign, according to Federal Election Commission records. A truck from Wizard Studios, another event-production company that has worked for the campaign, was also parked outside the hotel on Monday.

By Tuesday morning, the doors to the street were closed, but an open door leading from the hotel lobby revealed large screens set up under the room’s chandeliers.

Ajo Border Patrol agent arrested and charged with drug trafficking

TUCSON, Ariz. – A Buckeye, Arizona, man was arrested Sunday on multiple counts of conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. The charges resulted from an investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Southern Arizona Corruption Task Force, significantly assisted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, NATIVE Task Force in Sells, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Carlos Victor Passapera Pinott, 53, was charged by complaint, and had his initial appearance Monday before United States Magistrate Judge Leslie A. Bowman of the District of Arizona.

According to the complaint, Passapera is a U.S. Border Patrol agent assigned to the Tucson Sector Ajo Border Patrol Station. On Aug. 9, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Passapera left his residence and drove south to a remote area of the border west of the Lukeville Port of Entry. Passapera then drove to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, where he loaded two duffel bags into another vehicle. Law enforcement agents stopped the driver of that vehicle after it left the airport, and searched the duffel bags. The bags contained multiple packages of substances that field tested positive for the characteristics of cocaine (21 kilograms), heroin (1 kilogram), and fentanyl (1 kilogram). The bags also contained approximately 350,000 pills. A sample from the pills field tested positive for the characteristics of fentanyl.

Law enforcement agents took Passapera into custody later that day while executing a search warrant at his residence. During the search, agents found approximately $329,000 in U.S. currency in Passapera’s residence, and an additional $40,000 in the vehicle Passapera used to transport the illegal narcotics.

Convictions for conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances carry a maximum penalty of life in prison, a mandatory minimum penalty of ten years, and up to a $10,000,000 fine.

A criminal complaint is simply the method by which a person is charged with criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt. An individual is presumed innocent until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Tucson is handling the prosecution

Sheila Nix to be senior adviser to Joe Biden vice presidential pick

Nix, co-chair of the Illinois Biden team, served as Dr. Jill Biden’s chief of staff during the Obama administration.

By Lynn Sweet Aug 11, 2020, 1:18pm CDT

Former Jill Biden chief of staff Sheila Nix, an Oak Park resident, will be a senior adviser to the team the Joe Biden campaign put together to staff his soon-to-be-announced vice presidential pick.

Nix, along with Democratic activist Chris Dunn, has been a leader in the Illinois Biden campaign.

Nix has long ties to Joe and Jill Biden. Nix was Dr. Jill Biden’s chief of staff from April 2013 to the last day of the Obama/Biden administrations, Jan. 20, 2017.

In the 2012 Obama reelection campaign, with headquarters in Chicago, Nix was chief of staff for then-Vice President Biden.

She is the president of Tusk Philanthropies where she has overseen the development of its Mobile Voting Project, designed to boost voter turnout.

Nix and Brad Tusk, who founded the nonprofit, served together in the Blagojevich administration; Nix was a deputy governor. She went on become the U.S. executive director of the ONE Campaign.

Nix will also serve as a senior adviser to the spouse of Biden’s running mate.

Biden’s v.p. pick will be immediately thrust into the campaign with a staff that has been built up over the past weeks. Most of those staffers are veterans of Biden’s vice presidential operation or had roles in the Obama campaigns or administration.

China's Military Ordered "Not To Fire First Shot" In Any Stand-Off With US Forces

At a moment of increasingly dangerous military flexing both over Taiwan and in the South China Sea, the People's Liberation Army has reportedly been ordered “not to fire the first shot” in any potential confrontation with the United States. It suggests this emerging 'new Cold War' scenario could turn hot at any moment.

The South China Morning Post broke news of the standing military orders on Tuesday based on unnamed sources: China has told its service personnel “not to fire the first shot” as Beijing looks to de-escalate tensions with the United States in the South China Sea, it reports.

Further SCMP cites that "The sources said Beijing had ordered pilots and naval officers to exercise restraint in the increasingly frequent stand-offs with US planes and warships."

Word of the military order from Beijing constitutes perhaps the clearest evidence thus far that China envisions a likely future scenario where the two sides 'easily' stumble toward war through some kind of unplanned live-fire incident.

This summer the US has kept up a record daily number of flights and operations over and near the contested South China Sea. As we reported previously, a Beijing-based think tank counted over 50 sorties by US military aircraft in the region in the first three weeks of last month.

“At the moment the US military is sending three to five reconnaissance aircraft each day to the South China Sea,” the South China Sea Strategic Situation Probing Initiative (SCSPI) described of July flyovers.

This prompted China’s Defense Minister Wei Fenghe and his US counterpart Mark Esper to hold urgent "crunch talks" — as SCMP earlier described the last Friday phone call, hoping to establish de-escalation procedures in the case of an active event, particularly a direct military hotline.

Greek Coast Guard Opened Fire At Turkish Boat In Aegean Sea

On August 11, the Greek Coast Guard opened fire at a Turkish boat off the island of Rhodes in the Aegean Sea. According to the Turkish side, two Turkish and one Syrian nationals were injured and the boat sank due to the attack.

The incident took place at 0040GMT in the Greek waters. The injured people were taken to the Marmaris State Hospital by the Turkish rescue team, it added.

Tensions in the region are on the rise due to the Turkish exploration and drilling activities of the hydrocarbon sources in the Mediterranean Sea.

Earlier, Turkey sent a ship to conduct a seismic survey in a disputed area of the eastern Mediterranean. Ankara is conducting the search for potentially rich oil and gas deposits south of the Greek island of Kastellorizo.

The Oruc Reis is accompanied by two auxiliary vessels and this mission goes contrary to the Greek-Egyptian gas exploration deal. The Greek said described the situation as a “new serious escalation” which “exposed” Turkey’s “destabilising role”.

The Brookings Hand Behind Russiagate Points Back to Rhodes Trust Coup on America

An incredible report on Real Clear Politics by Paul Sperry on July 24 has revealed a new dimension to the Russiagate frenzy that contaminated American politics for the last four years. While all claims of Russian collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin have been thoroughly debunked over recent months, it was believed that the culprits of this coup effort were merely swaths of deep state operatives in the DNC alongside British Intelligence assets like Christopher Steele, and Sir Richard Dearlove.

All of these things are still very true, but the story has just become significantly more interesting.

As investigative journalist Paul Sperry rigorously lays out in his report, a major piece of the Russiagate puzzle was revealed when it became known that the primary source used by Christopher Steele in shaping his dodgy dossier was not the high level Kremlin insider which the world was told, but rather a former Brookings Institute employee named Igor Danchenko.

This young Russian-born analyst who hadn’t been to Russia in decades admitted to the FBI in January 2017 that he had no contacts with any notable Russian operatives anywhere near the Kremlin (or even Russia itself it seems), and was totally confused when he was asked why he believed Steele hired him to put together an intelligence dossier on Trump in the first place!

Such admissions didn’t seem to bother the FBI at this time, who ignored the evidence of the dossier’s fraudulent foundations and proceeded to use the Steele/Danchenko material to acquire FISA warrants on Carter Page. This dossier also fueled the fires of the Russiagate inquisition and first gave voice to the narrative that Russia “hacked” the DNC emails (which have been completely refuted by former NSA insider Bill Binney).

The firestorm of revelations surrounding the Brookings Institute, have induced Rep. Devin Nunes to announce a long-awaited probe on the powerful liberal think tank which has acted as a controlling force in America’s deep state for decades and the powerful figure of the Institute’s former president Strobe Talbott.

Nunes stated:

“You may remember that the State Department was involved and there were additional dossiers that weren’t the Steele dossier- except that they mirrored the Steele dossier. And we think there is a connection between the [former] president of Brookings and those dossiers that were given to the State Department.”

Strobe Talbott not only led Brookings for years, but served as former Deputy Secretary of State of the Clinton White House, former director of the Council on Foreign Relations, was a member of the Trilateral Commissions executive committee and also acted as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Policy Board of the Obama White House. It was Talbott who deployed Danchenko’s Brookings Institute mentor Fiona Hill to acquire a job at the National Security Council in 2017 where she not only advanced an anti-Russian war plan but testified in Trump’s impeachment trial in 2019.

Georgia Voters Lose Fight for Free Stamps on Absentee Ballots

August 11, 2020

ATLANTA (CN) — A federal judge on Tuesday denied a voting rights group’s request for an order barring Georgia election officials from requiring voters to pay for their own postage to submit absentee ballots and ballot applications.

In a class action filed in April against Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and DeKalb County election officials, the nonprofit Black Voters Matter and two Peach State voters claimed that requiring voters to pay for postage to submit their absentee applications and ballots is tantamount to a poll tax outlawed by the 24th Amendment and also violates the First and 14th Amendments.

The plaintiffs claimed that the state not providing free postage for mail-in voting places an “unconstitutional burden” on the right to vote during a time when voting by mail is the only option for many who wish to cast ballots during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During a virtual hearing in April, the plaintiffs urged the court to require election officials to provide voters with prepaid, returnable envelopes for mail-in ballots and applications.

On April 30, U.S. District Judge Amy Totenberg in Atlanta denied the plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction seeking new absentee ballot envelopes with free postage for Georgia’s June 9 primary election and later issued a similar denial as to the Aug. 11 runoff election.

Although Totenberg admitted that Tuesday’s ruling is “by no means the final word on Georgia’s absentee balloting procedures, election procedures or Georgia’s response in the electoral sphere to the challenges posed by the pandemic,” she found that no constitutional violation has taken place because voters can still cast their ballot in person in the Peach State.

“The fact that any registered voter may vote in Georgia on election day without purchasing a stamp, and without undertaking any “extra steps” besides showing up at the voting precinct and complying with generally applicable election regulations, necessitates a conclusion that stamps are not poll taxes under the Twenty-Fourth Amendment prism,” Totenberg, a Barack Obama appointee, wrote.

The judge held that in-person voting “theoretically remains an option for voters in Georgia” even despite the pandemic.

Although more than 1.2 million Georgians voted in person in the June primary election, a record-breaking 1.1 million voted by mail.

“The court recognizes that voting in person is materially burdensome for a sizable segment of the population, both due to the Covid-19 pandemic and for the elderly, disabled, or those out-of-town. But these concerns — while completely justifiable and pragmatically solvable — are not the specific evils the Twenty-Fourth Amendment was meant to address,” the ruling states.

Massachusetts Police Chief “Thoroughly Investigating, Hurtful” Vandalism To BLM Signage

Arlington, Mass — Police Chief Julie Flaherty reports that the Arlington Police Department responded to, and are actively investigating, four incidents of malicious vandalism across Arlington aimed at Black Lives Matter signage.

All four incidents were reported the morning of Monday August 10th and originated at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Arlington, Cavalry Church, and at two private residences in East Arlington. At the First Parish UU, the Black Lives Matter banner was altered to read ALL Lives Matter. At the Cavalry Church two ”Black Lives Matter” signs and one mural were destroyed. At one private residence a KKK sticker was affixed to a ”Black Lives Matter” lawn sign and at another the same KKK sticker was stuck to a ”Hate Has no Home Here” lawn sign. In both cases the sticker depicts a Klansman wearing a white robe and mask on a horse with a torch.

“We are thoroughly investigating these incidents,” said Chief Flaherty. “The hurtful messages far outweigh the physical damage done and underscore the work that needs to be done to make Arlington a truly supportive and welcoming town.”

While these incidents took place in the last couple days, over the course of the last few weeks a number of Black Lives Matter signs have been stolen, egged, and vandalized, including the banner at the High School.

“The Arlington Human Rights Commission is appalled at this pattern of racist destruction, defacement, and vandalism,” said Sharon Grossman and Kristen Bauer, Arlington Human Rights Commission Co-Chairs. “The Commission has formed a working group to explore responses and ways to support the community.”

“The Board is extremely disappointed to see these acts of vandalism,” said John Hurd, Arlington Select Board Chair. “It is a painful reminder that racism exists in Arlington and reinforces the Town’s commitment to further promote diversity, equity and inclusion in Town. We appreciate the work the Arlington Police Department investigating this matter.”

“These acts of vandalism and attacks on free speech are unacceptable,” said Sandy Pooler, Acting Town Manager. “The Town supports Black Lives Matter and all those who express those sentiments.”

Pentagon Gives Up Huge Slice Of Spectrum For 5G

An unprecedentedly quick 15-week review identified 100 mHZ of spectrum, now heavily used by military radars, that will be auctioned off in December 2021.

WASHINGTON: After a remarkably fast interagency review, the White House today announced a massive transfer of electromagnetic spectrum from military use to commercial 5G. It will be the “fastest transfer of federal spectrum to commercial use in history,” US Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios told reporters proudly this afternoon. But, Kratsios and Pentagon CIO Dana Deasy assured reporters ahead of the announcement, the rush won’t compromise military readiness or operations.

The 100 megahertz of spectrum runs from 3450 MHz to 3550, so-called mid-band frequencies prized by 5G developers because they allow longer-ranged transmissions than the millimeter-wave spectrum that makes up most of what’s been available in the US so far. Kratsios and other officials told reporters shortly before this afternoon’s announcement that the move would dramatically expand 5G access for all Americans – fulling a congressional mandate in the 2018 MOBILE NOW Act – and strengthen potential competitors to Chinese giant Huawei in the global market.

Currently, Deasy said, “the 3450-3550 mHZ band supports critical DoD radar operations, including high-powered defense radar systems on fixed, mobile, shipboard, and airborne platforms, [including] air defense, missile and gun fire control, counter mortar, bomb scoring [during training exercises], battlefield weapon locations, air traffic control, and range safety.”

That’s a wide range of military functions, many with life-or-death significance for either training safety or outright combat. Deasy and other officials didn’t detail how the Defense Department would work this massive transfer. Their remarks, however, suggested a mix of migrating military radars to other frequencies – a complex and costly process typically funded from a share of the FCC auction – and sharing frequencies with commercial users in specific times and places.

The White House formally made the request in April. Roughly 200 technical experts from all four armed services, the Office of Secretary of Defense, and the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy studied the problem for 15 weeks. The FCC, which has already endorsed the plan, will start auctioning the spectrum off in December 2021, Kratsios said, with commercial use beginning “as soon as mid-2022.”

That’s as fast as the transfer can possibly go through the FCC’s public rule-making process, officials said. Historically transferring spectrum takes six years or more. ““The timeline that we’re working with is absolutely unprecedented,” one senior administration official told reporters, “and I cannot underscore that enough.”
