Space Force hosts annual Guardian Field Forum

The Space Force hosted its second annual Guardian Field Forum at the Gen. Jacob E. Smart Conference Center at Joint Base Andrews, March 11-15.

The week-long professional development event brought together 40 competitively-selected enlisted, officer and civilian Guardians to present feedback, recommendations, and innovative ideas directly to their peers and senior leaders.

“This forum bridges the gap between headquarters and the field on issues leadership might be missing,” said Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman. “Getting this feedback is critical to the success of the senior staff.”

At this forum, Guardians, nominated by their respective Deltas, presented their most important issues or recommendations to the other Deltas. The group then voted to determine the top themes that had the most overlap across the 22 initiatives that were presented. The teams selected three initiatives: strategic communication and collaboration, emerging technology for Guardians, and readiness improvements.

Some of the topics discussed included:

A consolidated and streamlined communication platform for Guardians to access all pertinent information at a single source.

A proposal for a combined civilian, government and military cloud-based satellite marketplace.

Improved infrastructure development policies to support the rapid acquisition process.

The Guardians spent the week collaborating and discussing amongst themselves and with industry partners to consolidate their ideas into three initiatives that were presented to leaders during the Space Force Senior Leader Summit.

“I challenge you to think outside the box, challenge assumptions and the status quo,” said Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force John F. Bentivegna. “Go back to your units, share your experience with Guardians and always know we hear you and your voice matters.”

Throughout the forum, Maj. Gen. Steve Whitney, Space Force director of staff and senior Guardian mentor, spent time with the Guardians, providing mentorship and emphasizing the need for forums like this.

"Be aggressive, get after it," Whitney said. "We don’t have the time, we don’t have the people, to play it safe."

Closing out the forum, Saltzman reiterated the importance of Guardians sharing their ideas and developing solutions to issues together.

“This is a chance to get feedback we need to address the issues that are of most concern across the force,” Saltzman said.

DARPA picks Northrop Grumman to develop 'lunar raiload' concept

Railroads could open the moon to serious and sustained economic development, as they did in the American West in the late 19th century.

That's apparently the hope of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which is supporting the development of a "lunar railroad" concept proposed by aerospace giant Northrop Grumman.

"The envisioned lunar railroad network could transport humans, supplies and resources for commercial ventures across the lunar surface, contributing to a space economy for the United States and international partners," Northrop Grumman representatives wrote in a press statement on Tuesday (March 19).

Northrop Grumman was one of 14 companies that DARPA selected this past December to participate in its 10-Year Lunar Architecture (LunA-10) Capability Study, which aims to help humanity extend its economic footprint into deep space.

"A large paradigm shift is coming in the next 10 years for the lunar economy," Michael Nayak, program manager in DARPA's Strategic Technology Office, said in a statement last August, when the agency announced the LunA-10 project.

"To get to a turning point faster, LunA-10 uniquely aims to identify solutions that can enable multi-mission lunar systems — imagine a wireless power station that can also provide comms and navigation in its beam," Nayak said. Such work, he added, will accelerate "key technologies that may be used by government and the commercial space industry, and ultimately to catalyze economic vibrancy on the moon."

While DARPA's December press statement revealed the 14 selected companies — which also include big names like SpaceX and Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin — it did not describe the work that they will do.

Northop Grumman gave a brief outline of the lunar railroad investigation in its statement on Tuesday. The company's LunA-10 study will do the following (in Northrop Grumman's words):

Define the interfaces and resources required to build a lunar rail network.

Establish a critical list of foreseeable cost, technological and logistical risks.

Identify prototypes, demonstrations and analyses of a fully operating lunar rail system’s concept design and architecture.

Explore concepts for constructing and operating the system with robotics, including grading and foundation preparation, track placement and alignment, joining and finishing, inspection, maintenance and repair.

Northrop Grumman's Tuesday statement did not provide funding details. DARPA gives a ballpark number in its August 2023 announcement, stating that selected studies "will receive an Other Transaction award not to exceed $1,000,000."

The selected LunA-10 companies will share their work at the Lunar Surface Innovation Consortium Spring Meeting next month and write up final reports that will be released in June, according to DARPA.

NASA Sets Coverage for Crew Launch; Trio to Join Expedition 70

Three crew members will blast off on Thursday, March 21, to support Expedition 70 aboard the International Space Station. NASA will provide full coverage of launch and crew arrival at the microgravity laboratory.

NASA astronaut Tracy C. Dyson, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Novitskiy, and spaceflight participant Marina Vasilevskaya of Belarus, are scheduled to lift off on the Roscosmos Soyuz MS-25 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 9:21 a.m. EDT (6:21 p.m. Baikonur time).

Launch coverage will begin at 8:20 a.m. on NASA+, NASA Television, the NASA app, YouTube, and the agency’s website. Learn how to stream NASA TV through a variety of platforms including social media.

Dyson, Novitskiy, and Vasilevskaya will journey to the station on a two-orbit, three-hour trajectory that will result in a docking to the station’s Prichal module at 12:39 p.m.

Shortly after, hatches between the station and the Soyuz will open and the new crew members will connect with NASA astronauts Loral O’Hara, Matthew Dominick, Mike Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, as well as Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko, Nikolai Chub, and Alexander Grebenkin, already living and working aboard the space station.

Dyson will spend six months aboard the station as an Expedition 70 and 71 flight engineer, returning to Earth in September with Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub of Roscosmos, who will complete a year-long mission on the laboratory.

Novitskiy and Vasilevskaya will be aboard the station for 12 days, providing the ride home for O’Hara on Tuesday, April 2, aboard Soyuz MS-24 for a parachute-assisted landing on steppe of Kazakhstan. O’Hara will have spent 200 days in space when she returns.

This will be the third spaceflight for Dyson, the fourth for Novitskiy, and the first for Vasilevskaya.

Head of Britain’s spy service quits all-male club

The head of Britain’s spy service resigned his membership of a men-only London club on Wednesday after discussions with his female colleagues.

Richard Moore’s decision comes after a list containing The Garrick club’s all male and largely white membership was made public for the first time in a report by The Guardian newspaper earlier this week.

The club, founded in 1831 as a meeting place for gentlemen and named in honour of the 18th-century actor David Garrick, includes as members King Charles III, former prime minister Boris Johnson, various judges, parliamentarians, actors and rock stars.

Moore sent a message to MI6 employees on Tuesday, acknowledging the reputational hit that news of his membership posed to the service — in particular the risk of it undermining its work to attract more women to join MI6.

He sent a second note to staff on Wednesday, saying that he had decided to quit the club, following conversations with senior female colleagues.

The club, whose members include actors Brian Cox and Matthew Macfadyen who starred in the award winning television show “Succession”, Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugh Laurie, has around 1,500 mostly elderly members.

A large number of its members occupy influential roles –- from government leaders to partners at top law firms and heads of consultancies, The Guardian said.

Moore’s resignation was followed by that of the prime minister’s most senior policy adviser, the civil service leader Simon Case, who quit the club on Wednesday afternoon.

Case had previously defended his membership of the club, telling MPs that it was “easier” to reform the all-male organisation “from within rather than chuck rocks from the outside”.

Hannah White, director of the Institute for Government think tank, which works with MPs and senior civil servants to make government more effective, said Case and Moore’s memberships sent a “terrible message” to junior civil servants.

Harriet Harman, the Labour MP who drafted the Equality Act 2010, said that clubs like The Garrick “prop up” structures that restrict women’s access to power.

Just over half of the club’s members supported a rule change to allow female members when the club last voted on the issue in 2015, but the motion failed because a two-thirds majority was required.

However, Milburn's former commanders are staunchly opposed to any suggestion of recovered non-human craft.

The UK's Ministry of Defence (MoD) told DailyMail.com they are 'not aware of any salvage operations with materials of unexplained origin.'

And in 2021, then-defense minister Baroness Annabel Goldie told Parliament that the MoD 'holds no reports on unidentified aerial phenomena' but 'constantly monitors UK airspace to identify and respond to any credible threat to its integrity.

'In over 50 years no such reporting had indicated the existence of any military threat to the United Kingdom,' the Baroness said during a June 30, 2021 session in the UK's House of Lords.

However, a 2000 UK Defence Intelligence Staff report said the existence of 'Unexplained Aerial Phenomena' (UAP) is 'indisputable'.

'Credited with the ability to hover, land, take-off, accelerate to exceptional velocities and vanish, they can reportedly alter their direction of flight suddenly and clearly can exhibit aerodynamic characteristics well beyond those of any known aircraft or missile – either manned or unmanned,' the report said.

'Attempts by other nations to intercept the unexplained objects, which can clearly change position faster than an aircraft, have reportedly already caused fatalities,' the report warned, adding that 'no attempt should be made to out-maneuver a UAP during interception.'

The December 2000 report, titled Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK Air Defence Region, was originally classified secret but released to the UK National Archives in 2006.

It denied any 'incursions' by UFOs into UK airspace and said that 'no artefacts of unknown or unexplained origin have been reported or handed to the UK authorities.'

'There is no evidence of the penetration of the UKADR by unauthorized air platforms… there are no reports of RAF aircraft intercepting UAPs,' it said.

But Milburn says he knows different.

He told DailyMail.com his credulity towards John was bolstered by his experience debriefing other veterans with shocking UFO encounters.

The former paratrooper said British military pilots told him about 'kinetic' encounters with UFOs, while he was working as an intelligence officer in the 1990s.

He said two pilots and two navigators of two Tornado jets told him they were ordered to intercept 'disc-shaped objects' – but when told to shoot them down, they were outmaneuvered.

'They closed to within 20 nautical miles (nm). They were ordered to shoot them down. I wasn't told why, that was above my level,' Milburn said.

'They had radar homing missiles. The missiles left the aircraft having achieved lock on but then failed to impact the craft.

'They closed to within 10nm and released more missiles which were infrared homing. Those failed to impact the craft.

'They then flew to within one nm and closer. They were trying to shoot down these craft with the aircraft's 27mm cannon, and they failed to shoot them down.

'They said that they fired at the objects and the rounds hit, but had no effect on the craft whatsoever.'

Milburn said that although the pilots saw the craft with their own eyes, their radar had struggled to pick up the 'discs' when they were beyond visual range.

'They said to me that they were initially vectored onto the craft by the air intercept controller, because they couldn't see it on their own radar,' he said.

'Later they had the craft on their own radar, but then the ground controller lost it on his radar, which is obviously much more powerful.'

Then, according to the military aviators, the flying saucers 'disappeared.'

'The craft just basically just skipped off at hypersonic velocity far beyond what the jets had. They just disappeared,' Milburn said.

'I asked them, "what do you think those crafts were?" And they said, "well, it's nothing we have, it's nothing the Russians have, and nothing that the Yanks have."

'All four of them served in the first Gulf War. Before that they'd done years enforcing the no-fly zone over Iraq. They'd logged hundreds of hours of missions and intercepts. So these guys were no strangers to intercepting aircraft.´

Heavily Armed Militants Storm Pakistan's China-Operated Gwadar Port, 7 Dead

A rare terror attack has unfolded at Pakistan's strategic port city of Gwadar on Wednesday, which is crucial to the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). A group of heavily armed militants stormed the complex and engaged in a lengthy firefight with security forces.

Pakistan authorities identified the attackers as Baloch separatists, which had also been armed with bombs. At least seven of the militants were shot dead by security forces. The port has for more than the past decade been run by the China Overseas Port Holding Company.

There are unconfirmed reports that a soldier may have died in the attack. "Attackers carried out many blasts," government official Saeed Ahmed Umrani announced in the aftermath.

Few details have been given about how precisely the attack unfolded, but regional media has indicated that "Majeed Brigade of the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack." The group said it targeted Pakistan intelligence offices. A heavy police and military presence responded to the port as gunfire was still ringing out.

This southwestern region of the Pakistani province of Balochistan (also the name of a region which extends into Iran and Afghanistan) has been focus of heavy investment from China, and despite Balochistan being well-known for its natural resources including minerals, gas, and coal - the local population remains in severe poverty.

Ethnic separatist and radical Islamic terrorist organizations have for years waged a long-running insurgency against the government and its foreign partners, accusing Islamabad of exploiting the population of the region.

These groups have especially sought to target infrastructure and projects of the CPEC, seeing in it further confirmation that the Pakistan government is stealing from locals and enriching itself off foreign investments.

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander has drawn outrage for claiming that giving each of the tens of thousands of migrants pouring into the Big Apple free legal representation could net billions in economic benefits for New York state.

Lander’s office said in a report that coughing up individual lawyers to rep migrants could prevent roughly 53,000 asylum seekers from being deported across the Empire State — resulting in an estimated net benefit of $8.4 billion for local, state and federal governments.

“Access to work authorization leads to higher wages. The higher earning power generates more tax revenue. Higher personal income also benefits the economy through increased consumer spending,” the report said.

“Additionally, gaining lawful status also opens the door to more immigrants opening bank accounts, buying homes, and starting businesses, which all help grow the economy.”

The report — which fails to lay out how much it would cost to cover the legal fees — comes as the city is grappling with how to foot the bill for sheltering the roughly 180,000 migrants who have arrived since the crisis erupted in spring 2022.

Mayor Eric Adams has repeatedly stressed that the relentless influx of migrants is forecast to set the city back $10 million over the next few years.

The notion of forking over even more money to provide legal counsel for migrants was quickly ripped by critics.

“Every couple of weeks, there’s another politician telling us that the migrant crisis is giving us some newfound, economic benefit — and yet all we seem to keep doing is using taxpayer money to pay for services,” City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island) told The Post on Wednesday.

“Both of those things can’t be true.”

City Councilman Robert Holden (D-Queens) also chimed in: “No amount of gaslighting by the king panderer Brad Lander can change the undeniable fact that unfettered migration across the border is detrimental to our city.”

“Half of New Yorkers are looking for the exit door because of what’s going on. We need to reverse that,” he added, citing a new report from the Citizens Budget Commission that found 50% of all New Yorkers plan to stay in the city over the next five years.

A Department of Defense report released March 8 demonstrates that a seven decade-long trend of official obfuscation and deflection on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) continues unabated.

The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office’s (AARO) report, a congressionally mandated historical review of U.S. government involvement with UAP, found no evidence of “extraterrestrial technology.” While that may be technically accurate, the Pentagon’s lengthy report deliberately obscures a critical fact: Official records and public reporting are littered with evidence of unknown craft exhibiting what appears to be extraordinary technology.

In addition to critical omissions and at least one major misrepresentation, AARO’s report must be scrutinized for its treatment of Capt. Edward Ruppelt. Ruppelt was the first director of the Air Force’s decades-long UAP analysis (and, later, debunking) effort known as Project Blue Book.

Despite citing Ruppelt more than any other individual, AARO’s report ignores the countless cases, including many involving simultaneous radar and visual observations, that left Ruppelt and the Air Force thoroughly baffled.

In one July 1952 incident, for example, a ground radar station scrambled an F-94C fighter jet to intercept a UFO. As Ruppelt recounts in his 1956 book, “The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects,” “the radar operator in the ‘94 locked on to it, and as the airplane closed in the pilot and [radar operator] saw that they were headed directly toward a large, yellowish-orange light.”

“For several minutes,” Ruppelt continues, the fighter jet “played tag with the UFO. Both the radar on the ground and the radar in the F-94 showed that as soon as the airplane would get almost within gunnery range of the UFO, it would suddenly pull away at a terrific speed.”

“Then,” according to Ruppelt, “it would slow down enough to let the F-94 catch it again.”

Ruppelt debriefed the aircrew following that incident. Both the pilot and the radar operator “felt as if this were just a big aerial cat-and-mouse game — and they didn’t like it.”

Another July 1952 incident, according to Ruppelt, “was one of those that even the most ardent skeptic would have difficulty explaining. I’ve heard a lot of them try and I’ve heard them all fail.”

As Ruppelt describes it, a ground radar station tracked a UFO “coming straight south across Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron at 625 miles an hour.”

The pilot and radar operator aboard an F-94 fighter jet directed to intercept the object “saw that they were turning toward a large bluish-white light, ‘many times larger than a star.’” Like the UAP in the preceding incident, the object soon “took on a reddish tinge.”

Once again, “the radar operator in the back seat [of the fighter jet] got a good radar lock-on,” stating, “It was just as solid a lock-on as you get from a B-36 [bomber].”

For 10 minutes, the jet pursued the UAP. “At times,” Ruppelt recounts, “the unidentified target would slow down and the F-94 would start to close the gap.”

“Just as the ground controller was telling the pilot that he was closing in,” Ruppelt continues, “the light became brighter and the object pulled away.” According to Ruppelt, “the target would put on a sudden burst of speed and pull away from the pursuing jet” at speeds up to “1,400 miles an hour.”

Favoritism, cover-ups reveal culture of corruption in US Capitol Police leadership

Policy violations that ordinarily would lead to firings instead resulted in promotions for officers responsible for protecting top congressional leadership.

Corruption is endemic at the highest levels of the United States Capitol Police, especially among the special agents and officers who serve in the department’s dignitary protection detail, a Blaze Media investigation has found.

Internal discipline reports show a pattern of officers failing upward. Proven instances of fraud, forgery, theft, perjury, and drunk driving on duty going back to the late 1990s led to promotions rather than dismissals and prosecutions, discipline reports obtained by Blaze Media show.

High-ranking USCP officials, including a present-day deputy chief and an assistant chief, were implicated and faced discipline and possible termination in a fraudulent overtime pay scheme that defrauded the government of tens of thousands of dollars, according to documents obtained by Blaze Media and a former Capitol Police sergeant. A lieutenant involved in the scam left the Capitol Police and now works for the U.S. Senate sergeant at arms.

Suspensions for felonies

National Journal first reported on the overtime scheme in July 2014 but did not name the officers involved.

The National Journal story relied in part on the account of Rhoda Henderson, a retired USCP sergeant and whistleblower. In an exclusive interview with Blaze Media, Henderson confirmed that the officers involved were current USCP Assistant Chief Sean Gallagher, current Deputy Chief John Erickson, and Wendy Colmore, who is now director of central operations for the U.S. Senate sergeant at arms.

Gallagher was a captain with the dignitary protection detail and the alleged “ringleader” at the time of the payroll scheme, while Erickson and Colmore were both lieutenants under Gallagher’s command.

Henderson told Blaze Media that the scheme lasted “for at least a year,” and while she wasn’t involved in the crime’s audit, the three officers stole well in excess of $10,000 from the USCP. She also explained that USCP authorities first doubted her story until she was able to produce the paper trail of the scheme.

Blaze Media inquired whether there had ever been any follow-up to this story from any other D.C. media. Henderson explained that her interview with National Journal reporter Bill House was the only other time she had been contacted by a journalist before now.

Henderson reiterated to Blaze Media that her disappointment with the USCP’s leadership in how they handled these “felonies” — crimes for which the three officers should have been “terminated” — was her reason for speaking to National Journal, adding, “They look out for each other, the higher rank you go.” She said, “To me, it’s always been, ‘I’ll cover up your sins if you cover up mine.’”

Voters in Chicago have voted against a proposed tax increase that many believe was a backdoor effort to raise money in order to support the city's growing migrant crisis.

During Tuesday's primary election, voters were asked whether they would support increasing levies on high-valued real estate sales to address the problem of homelessness.

The vote appears to have failed by a margin of 54 to 46 percent.

The city's far-left Democratic Mayor, Brandon Johnson, had claimed that the money would be used to tackle the issue of homelessness. However, opponents pointed out that the Chicago City Council maintained the right to spend the money any way it chooses and it would inevitably be used to prop up the tens of thousands of migrants who have arrived in the city.

Russian intelligence has alleged that France is preparing a military contingent of 2,000 troops to be deployed on the ground in Ukraine. The claim was made by Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin on Tuesday, and was quickly picked up in international headlines, also given it is rare for him to make statements like this.

"The current leadership of the country [France] does not care about the deaths of ordinary French people or about the concerns of the generals," Naryshkin said as translated in TASS. "According to information coming to the Russian SVR, a contingent to be sent to Ukraine is already being prepared. Initially, it will include around 2,000 troops."

The Russian intelligence chief further said the French military "fears that such a large military unit cannot be transferred and stationed in Ukraine unnoticed."

"It will thus become a legitimate priority target for attacks by the Russian armed forces. This means that it will suffer the fate of all the French who have ever come to the Russian world with a sword," Naryshkin emphasized. The past months have seen instances where Moscow claimed its forces took out French mercenaries in Kharkiv, but neither the Ukraine nor France ever verified this. Russia is now saying it will target foreign troops in Ukraine as a "priority".

He didn't elaborate further or offer anything in the way of verification or proof, but it comes after French President Emmanuel Macron sparked fierce debate in Europe last month by telling allies they shouldn't rule out sending Western troops to Ukraine. "Nothing should be excluded," Macron had said. "We will do everything that we must so that Russia does not win."

While most Western allies have voiced their rejection of a scenario of sending NATO forces to Ukraine, officials have been urging more rapid production of weapons. Italy's prime minister Giorgia Meloni is the latest to say that deploying Western ground troops to Ukraine must "be avoided at any cost" in Tuesday remarks.

On Monday European Council President Charles Michel called for Europe to shift to a "war economy" mode in response to Russia's war in Ukraine. "If we do not get the EU’s response right and do not give Ukraine enough support to stop Russia, we are next. We must therefore be defense-ready and shift to a ‘war economy’ mode," Michel stated in an op-ed published in European newspapers and the Euractiv website.

According to details of the latest efforts to free up more EU funds for Ukraine:

EU countries approved an agreement on Monday to increase the EU’s support for Ukraine’s armed forces by 5 billion euros ($5.4 billion) — amid warnings that Kyiv’s forces need more resources to hold the line against a larger Russian army as a $60 billion US aid package for Ukraine is being held up by Congress.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell hailed the hasty cash injection by saying, "With the fund, we will continue to support Ukraine defend itself from Russia's war of aggression with whatever it takes and for as long as we need to." But on the battlefield things continue to look very bad for Ukraine…

The special election to replace former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is headed to a runoff after none of the candidates reached the 50% threshold on Tuesday.

California Republican Assemblyman Vince Fong, the front-runner in the race, was unable to pocket enough votes to fend off challenges from Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and Democrat Marisa Wood. Republicans and Democrats have launched a 'groundbreaking' probe into the origins of Covid — amid mounting evidence the virus escaped from a lab in Wuhan.

The 15-member Senate committee will look into the threat of deadly viruses escaping from high-security research labs in the US and abroad.

It will also investigate how taxpayer dollars have been spent to fund research, including risky gain-of-function experiments, whereby animal viruses are gentially altered to make them more infectious among humans.

He added: 'To prevent repeating past mistakes, it’s crucial we fully comprehend the dangers of engaging in potentially hazardous bioresearch.'

The probe comes after several US agencies — including the Department of Energy and officials at the State Department — suggested Covid had leaked from a lab.

On Wednesday morning, a top-ranking scientist in Australia also added their voice to the theory, suggesting the lab leak theory was a 'credible possibility'.

Scientists and experts, including Government officials, have been warning for years risky research carried out at high-level labs could accidentally cause a deadly disease outbreak.

Federal data shows about 70 to 100 release incidents are reported every year in which a virus or disease is thought to have escaped outside of its 'primary containment' — raising the risk of a potential outbreak.

Sen Gary Peters, a Democrat from Michigan and committee chairman, said: 'Biotechnologies are rapidly advancing, and our understanding of biological risks and threats is constantly evolving.

'While many of these advancements have the potential to greatly benefit Americans, we must also ensure we are addressing and minimizing the serious risks they can also pose to our health and national security.

'This bipartisan oversight effort will allow us to take a comprehensive look at whether the federal government is taking the necessary steps to keep Americans safe from current and future biological threats.'

For its investigation, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is set to hold hearings involving a range of officials and experts on lab regulatory oversight.

It will also likely call a number of high-ranking officials to explain how labs are regulated and whether more oversight is required.

The committee will conclude by publishing a report detailing its findings.

A start date for the investigation is yet to be set.

A hearing on regulation of the labs in October 2023 by the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic revealed holes in the oversight of high level laboratories.

The officials concluded: 'Both members and witnesses noted the lack of clear standards for design, construction and operation of high-containment laboratories.

'[This] increases the risk of research-related accidents.'

They called for the US to standardize its regulation of laboratories in order to prevent further accidents, which could potentially start another pandemic.

The new investigation will cross the political aisle, with eight Democrat committee members and seven Republican.

It comes after DailyMail.com reported how America suffers a 'startlingly high' number of lab leak incidents at its top virus labs every year.

Official data reveals more than 600 releases of 'controlled' pathogens - which may include anthrax, tuberculosis and Ebola - were recorded in the US over the eight years to 2022, equivalent to 70 to 100 releases every year.

At least two US workers were infected after the 'release events' over the last eight years — including the crippling mosquito-borne virus Chikungunya and the bacterial infection Q fever — although no deaths were reported.

Many of the incidents were caused by scientists spilling the contents of test tubes, not wearing safety equipment correctly and suffering bites and scratches from infected animals.

All ran the risk of diseases being accidentally released into the community where the pathogens could start the next pandemic.

How many Westerners are fighting in Ukraine?

There may be more foreign boots on the ground — troops and mercenaries — than you think

Global Affairs Canada announced this week that a Canadian had died in Ukraine. Later reporting revealed that his name was Jean-Francois Ratelle and that he was a commander of the Norman Brigade, which, according to CTV News, is “a fighting force of volunteers from several different countries commanded by a CAF veteran who goes by ‘Hrulf.’”

Hrulf was Ratell’s call sign. But the news raises an important, and hard to answer question: How many Canadians, and indeed citizens of other Western countries, are there fighting the Russians in Ukraine?

The Canadian government says it does not track this figure, but in January 2023, the Ukrainian Foreign Legion said that Canadians were “one of the most numerous nationalities" fighting in Ukraine. CTV News says it was able to track “at least 18 Canadians who are, or were, in Ukraine as fighters or as part of humanitarian efforts.”

On May 1, 2023, two Canadians serving with Ukraine's International Legion, which was attached to the 92nd Mechanised Brigade, were killed in Bakhmut. Both had served in the Canadian Armed Forces, but had left before going to Ukraine. At the time, CBC News reported that they were the fourth and fifth Canadians to be killed fighting in Ukraine. By November, the Globe and Mail was reporting that nine Canadians had been killed.

Like other countries in the West, the Canadian government did not send those fighters. One of the Canadians who perished was “fighting alongside two U.S. citizens who also died while fighting in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.”

A March 14 update on the number of foreign mercenaries provided by the Russian Defense Ministry, which has an interest in muddying the waters on these figures, claims that 1,005 Canadian mercenaries have gone to Ukraine to fight. It claims that at least 491 of them — nearly half — have been killed.

And Canada is not number one on that list. According to the Russian update, 2,960 mercenaries have come from Poland with 1,497 of them reportedly killed. Number two is the U.S. with at least 491 of its 1,113 mercenaries killed. The update says that mercenary fighters have come from NATO members Romania and the U.K., while France has been the source of fewer: 147 French nationals have died out of 356 who have gone, according to Russia.

It’s not a secret that the CIA occasionally uses PMCs in its operations around the globe. In 2009, the New York Times reported that the agency hired BlackWater PMC as part of its secret program to find and kill Al-Qaeda leaders.

But why does the agency need mercenaries to do the job, considering that it has own Special Activities Center (former Special Activity Division), a paramilitary unit capable of performing tasks in extreme, life-threatening conditions?

There are at least three reasons for this:

1) Flexibility to operate in a “gray zone”, which is still not clearly defined by international legal norms

When it comes to a covert operation, the CIA has unlimited variations of how to conduct it. It means that one of the SAC units, using fake documents, can be transferred to any war zone under the guise of, for example, Mission Six Zero instructors or average volunteer. It should be noted that such a mechanism may go both ways, so a mercenary can count on CIA's offer to join the agency.

2) Extensive ties in a small world of mercenary

Current operatives and senior CIA officials maintain regular contact with their former brothers-in-arms in private sector. In Part I we also showed, how former mercenaries from the PaxMondial and the PaxSafe brought up their colleagues to the CIA.

3) Recruiting foreign intelligence officers

Surprisingly, but the New York Times allegations that in 2016 Kyrylo Budanov had been trained by the CIA instructors, went practically unheeded. 3) After the contractor is found, the Noetic International organizes a communication channel with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine;

According to our source, the amount of the four-year deal between the Ukrainian government and the GK was estimated at $60-80 million. Biden Campaign Backs Away from Gaurav Srivastava

Last fall, we reported on a man named Gaurav Srivastava who pretended to be a CIA operative to allegedly fleece the sanctioned Dutch oil trader Niels Troost. The ruse was simple, according to extensive recorded conversations: hand over half your company to me, a secret spy, and I'll protect you from the US government because … I'm a secret spy.

In the following months since our original article, it emerged that Srivastava – or "Chairman G," as he likes to be called – is a big time political donor in the United States.

Whale Hunting can exclusively reveal that FBI agents in Los Angeles have been interviewing Srivastava’s current and former associates about his campaign donations, claims of being a federal officer and other financial affairs.

We also confirmed from a staff member for the Washington State Democratic Party that the Biden campaign is in the process of quietly refunding thousands of dollars of his political donations.

The FBI inquiries — ongoing for last several months — may lead nowhere, but the Biden campaign’s decision to start refunding donations suggests there are deeper issues afoot for Srivastava.

“All allegations raised in this story are false," a spokesman for Srivastava told us (full statement and more details on the news after the jump).

The culmination of Srivastava’s rise to public life came alongside a more than $1 million donation in 2022 to the Atlantic Council, a DC-based think tank. The money underwrote a conference in Bali, where he was a “co-host” and rubbed shoulders with business magnates, political honchos and John Legend.

But that relationship isn’t going smoothly. The Atlantic Council terminated its relationship with Srivastava, Politico reported last month, and returned additional funds donated by Srivastava in 2023.

“We made the decision to terminate our relationship with Mr. Srivastava in May 2023 upon learning new information because of our donor review process. For example, we learned that The Gaurav & Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation was not an established 501C3 in April of 2023, despite Mr. Srivastava’s representation to the Council that this was a registered foundation,” the spokesperson told Politico.

Srivastava’s lawyer told Politico the Atlantic Council made the decision after they “disagreed” about how a gift would be implemented. (Small note: Recipients of gifts usually try very hard to implement the handover of gifts.)

Alongside his campaign to solve global food security he also became a big spender on political campaigns. Among Srivastava’s key advisors for how to best disperse funds for political purposes were Greg Schultz (Biden’s 2020 campaign manager) and Ret. General Wesley Clark. They didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had a meltdown in the House of Representatives after Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski turned the tables on her, providing comic relief to the proceedings.

As Jim Hoft reported earlier, The House Oversight Committee is holding its second hearing today as part of its impeachment inquiry into White House occupant Joe Biden.

Earlier, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) was caught on camera pouting like a baby while Bobulinski read him and Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) the riot act for lying on behalf of the Biden Crime Family.

AOC fared no better after trying to take Bobulinski on. The New York Congresswoman started by asking Bobulinski a gotcha question regarding the crimes he saw Joe Biden commit and tried to cut him off at various points. Her sole purpose was to humiliate him rather than obtain actual information.

But she ended up embarrassed instead. After Bobulinski finally managed to detail Biden’s crimes over her rude interruptions, AOC could not comprehend what he was saying (she doesn’t even know what RICO is!) and repeatedly asked him the same question. The humiliated congresswoman then cut him off entirely and went into a shouting meltdown.

AOC: Is it your testimony today that you personally witnessed President Joe Biden commit a crime?

Bobulinski: I believe the fact he was sitting with me while I put together…

AOC (raising her voice): Did you witness the President committing a crime? Is it your testimony today?

Bobulinski: Yes.

AOC: What crime have you witnessed?

AOC: It’s very simple: you name the crime! Did you watch him steal something?

AOC goes on for the next three minutes, shouting and attempting to gaslight the audience. She pretends the entire inquiry is based on a lie and there’s no actual crime.

“Why is this committee proceeding based on false charges!” she yells.

The real question is not whether the charges are false (they’re true) but why the House has failed to impeach Joe Biden when his crimes are out in the open.
