I think that it is reasonable to have a thread where people will leave notes about anything they want until there are enough people to produce substantial discussion. It is called "check in thread"?

Write about anything what interests you.

Awesome, since when do we have a photography board here?
That was one of the first things I tried to find when moving to 8chan...

Anyway, let's advertise on /b/ or /meta/.

Since first adverts of 8chan on /pol/. When I came here I made /ph/ because /p/ was taken by /p/enis or whatever it was called.
There was /photo/ as well.

I waited for /p/ to expire (72 hours since last post or 1 week since volunteer logged in) and took /p/ alias.

First thread appeared here on 11 October.

I thought that understanding trichromacy is basic enough.

Here is the example of how it should look like for camera to work excellently: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/69/CIE1931_RGBCMF.svg/500px-CIE1931_RGBCMF.svg.png

The posted picture is a graph from Sigma SD10. Their modern models might see an improvement but I suspect that it is huge.

The difference of this graph and the examples of idel graph means that the RAW images need exceptionally strong correction which adds a plenty of noise and alters details.

Ohhhhh, now it makes sense. Thanks! I was wondering why the numbers at the bottom seem familiar.

Canon is rumored to introduce UV and IR layers to their sensors soon, so that might make the graph a bit more colourful.

I can pretty much post here daily, so long as I can load the site.

Current activity: listening to Karl Verkade's "Our Dreams Are Made Of Rain", thinking of wide-angle, arctic shots and satellite overviews of Earth. You should google the album, it's quite something (and legally free).
Photography-wise, I'm restoring Lr catalogues after having better-organised my folders.

>pic 2 attempt at unassisted, manual focus through 1100's tiny viewfinder. At first, seemingly impossible, after 3 months quite alright.

Checking in today and adding a few things. Thanks for the comments on my light painting series. This board is S L O W but I'm okay with that since it lets us take our time to get to know one another's work.

Maybe some intros?
I'm 30s commercial photography student but have been shooting and designing for over 10 years. Finally have enough saved to get that sheepskin without going into debt! I like landscapes but more recently fine art studio work has been pulling me in. I tend to over process things that I'm not selling (because I like it okay!) but that doesn't mean I don't have a good technical foundation. I also like to be nice to people, though I am not reddit levels of randdumb.

Also I am namefagging because there are no board ids. Cry about it.

Happy shooting this week.

On one hand, there are no Rockwell-grade pictures, no gear/Nikon vs. Canon threads, no fuckers trying to shove iPhones down our throats as able cameras and no stupid, uninspired challenges.

On the other hand, there are no challenges at all (well, there is one), almost no picture flow, little to no critique etc.

Checking in, I found some /p/haggots on /b/ in a lulzy thread about iphone cameras being able to shoot 720p at 240 FPS and some Canon bridge doing it at 240p. Didn't think it would upset people, but it did.
Exams and bullshit, the city's a mess, I'm not fond of beauty-in-the-ugly type of photography, so I don't think I'm gonna take pictures of mud and garbage.

A Smena Symbol and a couple 8Ms.

I imagine I'm going to go through a bunch of rolls just getting a hang of the viewfinder. It's a good thing I only spent like $5 for a couple rolls of low-quality film.

Once I figure out what I'm doing, I'll probably get a Holga for the light leaks and vignetting.

I'm pretty anxious to get started.

I am afraid to be wrong but I think that you wont find any film which gives natural colours when crossprocessed.

IIRC most films will have different contrast dpending on the development time or chemicals quantity even when processed with documented chemicals. and contrast affects saturation directly.

Also, would not you want to try to scan and pull any contrast in post?

>I am afraid to be wrong but I think that you wont find any film which gives natural colours when crossprocessed.
I thought I remembered reading that there were some kinds of slide film that still looked fairly life-like after cross-processing.
>Also, would not you want to try to scan and pull any contrast in post?
I'd probably scan them so I could upload them to the Internet and whatnot, but I planned on keeping the process as analog as possible.

Found a free VPN service which enables me to access HTTPS (HTTPS access to 8ch.net is blocked in Russia). I do not really want to use mod panel without HTTPS.

Also: image thumbnails were tied to HTTPS even in non-secure version of 8ch so I was quite unable to use the board for few months.
