Any recommendations for some lightweight hiking boots that are narrow enough for game stalking in the woods, yet still have some toe protection so I don't smash my foot against hidden rocks and roots in the underbrush and immediately regret it?

Everything that I wear gives me calluses and blisters. I had to run around the city all day every day all september, and now my feet look like a war.

I heard some advice to wear two layers of socks: thin wicking ones and thick wool ones, and it seemed to help a bit, but everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when I tell them I'm doing it.

Timberland is are my brand of choice. They're very rigid at first, but once you break them in,, they'll be much softer and more flexible.

I bought a pair like these from a second-hand store about six years ago, and they already had a bit of wear on them.

I know absolutely nothing about them: brand, year, actual age, nothing. I assume they're a military standard issue boot, or a knock off of, because my Ma wore a pair like this during Desert Storm.

When I bought them, the right lace a nick on it where it was fraying and I figured I'd have to replace it. Still six years, still have the same laces.

They're my go-to footwear for everything. Not waterproof to any degree above the laces, the soles are indestructible, as are the laces. I don't clean the fabric as often as I should, so they're probably deteriorating, but still holding strong.

I would strongly recommend them to anybody, as long as you don't live somewhere that is constantly wet.

I'm getting some mongol M05 combat boots for hunting. Modern leather boots with rubber sole. No goretex bullshit, just the old fashioned way. Pic related.

I had that exact same model, and they were warm and light for a while, but once they got wet they never stopped squeeking. I felt like a goddamn clown walking around. Wouldn't stop even after I dried them. They're hard to polish too.

Got these, they work pretty well and have held up well. They are heavy though

Got the same boots, can confirm theyre pretty good for general hiking, theyre not great for mountaineering though as I slipped quite a few times when I walked off the main trails

Dont know about hunting though, as I'm one of those hiking purists (Golden rule, avoid going off trails, dont disturb nature whatever happens etc etc)
