Some people swear by those, i guess the problem is that you'll have to buy filters from time to time.

Is the place where you life a big city/metropolis?

Do you see bike messengers or other cyclists using these?

>Is the place where you life a big city/metropolis?

yes, there are cars everywhere man
>Do you see bike messengers or other cyclists using these?
not exactly this kind of masks, they use scarfs or other kind of protection, like those white industrial dust masks, the other day i saw a dude with one 3m industrial respirators.

usually industrial respirators have more standard filters and you're not stuck with what the producing company wants you to use, which of course also means lower prices

if the pollution is severe i suggest buying one, you don't want to breathe traffic fumes daily

props to you for using a bike, keep it up and stay safe!

There doesn't seem to be a transportation board here yet, so it's fine by me, at least until someone starts one on here.

I thought about getting one for when i mow and do yard work (i have pretty bad allergies). But i'm unable to find a decent one with acceptable reviews.

Let us know how it works OP, if you get one that is.

these mask are completely useless against diesel particles anon (the most aggressive ones in a city env.)
I'd have to look at it, but if I remember correctly these filter particles down to 8 micrometers, when diesel particles are 0.8 (I'm taking these numbers out of my ass, check in wikipedia)
the only mask that can help are the industrial ones (m3 has a very cheap p100) but they are huge.

>any of you use bicycle everyday like for going to work or school ?

I don't anymore (I moved to the country where distances are too large for biking to work), but I used to.

>use one of these pollution masks ?

I've never even seen this sort of thing until just now.

None of those masks actually filter anything other than maybe some bugs from your face. If they did then you would need to be replacing a surgical filter from them after 4 hours of full use or 12 hours after any partial use.

What you should really consider is how to keep yourself from getting road rage and getting into a fight at the stop lights.

You will likely be somewhere without the loluneconomic bike lanes so you will occupy a whole lane like a car does.

Many motorists don't understand why you might need that and that it is in fact 100% legal and recommended instead of going on sidewalks or veering between lanes. They will honk at you and some might swear.

Unless you bike through the industrial human-farm tier areas of China or India, then you have no reason to use such a mask for going to work or school.

If you want a mask, use a surgical mask like those you see in China/Japan or learn to wrap a cloth to cover your face.

They'll help just as much as what you posted, unless you go all out for military grade few hundred dollar gas masks that will actually get you arrested or stopped in every single relevant country.
