Finally FINALLY got around to the hood like I said I would. Got it off, rust converted a bit and wirebrushed the shit out of it. It's about 1/5 clean. Astute anons will notice the swiss cheese effect at the top left corner; it's rustfucked in two places, with a few more small holes elsewhere. These are only in the bottom layer (hood is two layers spot welded together), so I'm planning to fill them with filler when I'm done because I don't own a MIG welder.
Probably going for satin black underneath, and matt black on top because it's not a factory color anymore because mexicans. Incidentally, the original color of the car the hood came from was gold, and whoever did the lazy ass respray painted the top green.
Also, David Freiberger is right. Mopar hoods are fucking HEAVY. At least a two man job to install, but would be better with three.

For interior stuff, get some color matched spray paint at your FLPS, pop out some panels and go nuts. I just used some engine paint on mine and it came out a lot better than expected.

New exhaust, stripping the clear coat off the factory rims I fucking love the factory rims, trying to figure out where the fuck the water is leaking in the back when it rains. Seriously, I ripped out the fucking ceiling fabric trying to find the problem area. Its mystified a few body shops I've stopped at as well. Pic related.

have you tried something like going into a carwash, staying inside the car and trying to locate the leaks?
if it's in back, apart from a bad seal around something on the boot lid it's hard to tell

Oh yeah, like I didn't think of that. I've poured water on the top, went through car washes, even spent the fucking night in the back of it when storms were in the forecast. I can't fucking find the source
The thing is, its not a gushing leak, it trickles to the point that I can feel moisture in different areas on the carpet. My theory is its coming from the cargo door seal, but I never see any signs of water when I check. Its really fucking sp00py.

just asking man, you wouldn't believe how many easy shit people skip
if it's not coming from the top could it be coming from under? like some sort of coolant/AC pipe leaking, or maybe water leaking through the wheel wells? something that would only show when you're driving it in the rain, not just standing there

2003 Opel Corsa Z10XE
Changed the AC compressor this saturday. Added a black tree behind the vents in the dash for extra fresh. Works a treat, and definitely a good call as today was hot as all fuck.
Next thing to tackle is the locked passenger door. For some reason the lock is stuck in the closed position and no amount of force managed to unlock it so far. Weird bit is that the central locking works, the pin that's attached to the unit works, but it still won't unlock and let me open the door. I suspect either a broken linkage in the bit linked to the door handle inside the unit, or the deadlock (mechanical lock, makes it so the interior pin doesn't open the door as anti theft measure) is stuck.
Of course, it wouldn't be nearly as fun if the door was open and I could just remove the lock.

So I'm thinking of using a dremel to cut open the unit and try to disassemble the lock from the inside.

Sorry, this problem is just bugging the crap out of me is all.
I read that the eighth generation of suburbans had an issue where the rear A/C hose would get plugged from gunk and leak into the back. I checked it myself and it was clear from what I could tell. If it was coolant I probably would have been able to smell it, but the puddle was odorless.
I never thought of the wheel wells, though. Just the way the water would get in the back made me think it was a roof or window leak. I'll have to check that. Sometimes it appears when I drive, other times it appears when sitting outside in the rain.

The only other thing I can think of is a leak at the bottom on the windows, water running in the space between the plastic trim panels and the body, and eventually spilling on the floor. I've seen that on my pal's old car, a pain to diagnose.
But yeah, idk where the puddles were.

what I've done to it:
>changed the oil
>washed it (before the summer)
>replaced the broken hood lift supports
working on:
>brakes have started squeaking, need to get them checked and probably replace pads
>something squeaks when I turn significantly, need to get that checked
>punctured a tire that can't be patched due to the inside deteriorating so I need to replace all four tires, currently on three potentially rotten full size and one half size spare
>need to properly wash it again
>leather seats need to be properly cleaned
>turbo makes grinding noise at low pressure, need to get that checked
>third gear grinds a little bit sometimes, need to get that checked
>parking brake barely works, need to get that checked
>AC barely works, need to get that checked
>engine overheats easily, need to get that checked
>radio/cassette player doesn't work at all, need to get that checked
>main interior lights don't work, need to get that checked
>antenna motor doesn't work properly, need to get that checked
>some tool previous owner took off the trim emblems, would be nice to replace those
>need to replace the passenger side fender
+whatever else the mechanics find when I take it in next week

Pontiac seemed to always try harder to put out cooler, faster, more badass vehicles with character.
Such as on the fourth gen, with pop-up headlights, the rolled the metal on the doors to give them shape(GM told Pontiac they HAD to use the same body panels as Chevy IIRC), and told them specifically that the Trans Am was not allowed to be any faster than the Camaro.
When they introduced the ram air packages, they ended up making more anyway, I think 325 hp from 310 on the post-facelift LS1 cars.
Pontiac had a lot of neat ideas throughout their existence, but most of them got neutered or axed by GM.

They put in a Ferrari engine into a Firebird for shits and giggles once. Don't see that happening anymore.
More on topic I drive a 2000 Saturn SL1 manual, Replaced the heater core (surprisingly easy), and had the Front Bearings, Brakes and Rotors done. According to the manual it should get a coolant flush, and there's a temp sensor that I'd want to replace at the same time (they're common for going bad and it's easy enough to do). Also had the hood changed due to me getting into a crash, it's a lighter colour though. It functional.
I also own a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4door. Rebuilt the Carb, replaced a fuel line running to it. But it'd kinda been shelved due to the transmission loosing reverse (and me my job) but at least I have a spare thanks to my dad. The installs gonna need new fluid and a torque converter, also the rear main seal. Other stuff is a possible parasitic drain, Door and windows seals, head liner, passenger side electric window motor, driver side electric window switches, maybe the front main seal.
It's also got typical G-body frame rot, but it's no where near the springs so it's fine for the time being though I'll avoid putting heavy shit in the trunk. Frankly if I wasn't so crazy for the V8 and Velour interior I'd probably scrap it

That sounds cool as hell, only Pontiac..
I wish my 'bird was easy to work on; anything that isn't a fluid or right on top is basically a major repair taking me hours to do anything.
Starter took me 9 hours, power steering pressure lines took me about 20 hours.
Hell, I replaced my whole rear suspension, torque link bushing and transmission mount (all time combined) in less or about equal time, I'd say.
