Pic related - if you're gonna quit PMO, you better quit imageboards and all the other addictions - alcohol, cigarettes, internet, drugs, anime - whatever it is.

>"My mind is filled with stories that never happened. Anime, manga, vidya, interactions with anons everywhere in the world, people that I'll never know."
>"I didn't live my life."
That hit close to home.
In a couple years I will have been in anonymous imageboard culture for a whole decade. Even though I'm only 20 years old, I know what this anon is talking about. The first 5 years are fine, you are preoccupied with anime and video games and chans, but it starts to hit you once you lose interest in video games and anime (or whatever else). When all you have left is imageboards, boards that you grow to eventually hate because you become oversocialized.
I won't leave imageboards just yet. I'm not as badly addicted to them as I once was. /pol/ pisses me off with their kek meme god bullshit, I don't play video games or watch anime (as much, anyway) so that crosses out /v/ and /a/, I don't watch enough TV or read comics to browse /tv/ or /co/, not an autistic nerd so I can't browse /tech/ and I can only handle so much of /r9k/ and /v9k/ before I need a break. I think really the only boards I've really posted on this year has been /nofap/ and /newsplus/ and /new/. I spend a lot of my time now listening to podcasts, reading articles/blogposts and books, etc. I have a full time job too, and I plan on learning how to cook and working out and stuff so my time on imageboards will continue to dwindle.
I recommend everyone read "Technological Society and its Future" by Ted Kaczynski, if you haven't already. We all could definitely be living more fulfilling lives but that's only to an extent, unless you go innawoods you are essentially trapped in a box. We have no control over half of what makes our lives miserable. So I mean, make of it what you will. It's up to you to scrap together as much of a fulfilling, real life as possible.

the only drug i take is coffe and i take one cup every 3 weeks or so.
i stopped watching new anime but i'm still going to follow the berserk manga and i'm going to watch the last evangelion rebuild.
i want to make a full stop on vidya and non-productive boards (only leaving /lit/, /biz/ and /fit/, along with 8ch/nofap/ to help me not lose my mind in the process)

We come to these types of places because Reddit, Facebook and the like aren't what we want. We value the harshness of the chans, the freedom. It also helps there are a lot of dedicated fans of the boards.
But yes, they are ultimately bad for us as a lot of us overuse them. I do plan on cleaning up my act, but first I need to overcome this NEET wall. No friends, no job, no money, no confidence, no charisma with new people makes it all very hard to move on. Hopefully No Fap can light that spark to get me out and about.

I'm getting too old for vidya and television shows and the only thing that seems to give me pleasure is meditation practices these days. If I'm going to escape into my mind all day I might as well strive to become an ascended master or something.

OP is just an epic troll. He's butthurt that people don't want to jerk off to porn and intentionally break their streaks like he did so now he's saying "if you only don't jerk off to porn it won't make much of a difference" as if he knows how much we watched prior to quitting and what our circumstances are

Don't forget junk food!
I've actually quit every single addiction but: lazyness (procrastination), bad sleeping schedule, sitting addiction (not working out), internet (mainly jews and stuff), redpilling people (I just have to share the latest jew exposed stuff to friends)… and fap. I'm sure that the worst is the lazyness and jews. Boy, there's just so much things on the jews that I have to learn about…
But the reason I'm posting this is that the ones I listed are a mile harder than all the others
It's actually ridiculously easy to start eating healthy or stopping watching entertainment media, find out every addiction that you have and try to get rid of as many as you can, there's just so much shitty stuff that you do that is actually easy to get rid off, I stopped eating the sugar jews and watching """entertainment""" overnight, that's how it's easy.

I recently quit a daily coffee habit. It's like a seesaw. Once that dopamine stimulus was taken away, the comfort eating increased, and my streaks decreased as well. I've been feeling a lot more compelled to watch lewd stuff.
It's very difficult to quit everything cold turkey. Decide for yourself what holds you back and is detrimental to you and then eliminate one bad habit at a time. You will make it, I'm sure of it.

Laziness is determined by a lack of knowledge. You cannot move forward if you don't have at least a clue of what to do and why to do it

>Decide for yourself what holds you back and is detrimental to you and then eliminate one bad habit at a time
This.
I would also add that whilst eliminating 1 bad habit at a time, it's best to start 1 good habit at a time.
Don't focus on 1 or the other. Eliminating bad habits and starting good habits is not double the work, because the two actions are complimentary.
>eliminating bad habits without starting good habits
You will be left with a time and stimulation gap which used to be filled with your bad habit.
Even if you somehow get over the stimulation craving by sheer willpower, you will still be left with a time gap in which you used to spend on your bad habit (and of course that gap will be bigger with the more bad habits you eliminate).
You will have to fill that gap with something. If you don't fill that with a good habit, then you have to fill it with something that's not good. Common sense.
>starting good habits without eliminating bad habits
As mentioned above, there is a time-limit, and a stimulation-limit.
The time element isn't such an issue because it can worked around by multi-tasking. For example, you can exercise (good habit), whilst watching tv (bad habit).
However, this only works because both of these are fairly weak stimuli (assuming you aren't doing a really advanced exercise or watching a really complex tv show), so you don't reach your stimulation limit.
However, you *will* reach your stimulation limit if you try and combine stronger stimuli. Take for example, listening to audiobooks on a complex subject, and playing an very difficult videogame.
These can be done at the same time - but because these are both strong stimuli, you will hit your stimulation limit, at which point you will no longer be able to concentrate on both, or at least you won't be able to concentrate on them as well as you would if pursued separately.
>eliminating bad habits AND starting good habits
Good habits will replace bad habits. Good habits will fulfill your time and stimulation, but not go past the limit.
