It's not a game for everyone, some people don't like the whole setting and artstyle. Also, sometimes the game just don't want you to win and gives shitty items/no drops. Your item pool gets better when you unlock new items.

It's not that complex, every run is different and is generated by a random seed. Also, you can get farther in the floors by beating some bosses a certain number of times.

Yeah, that level of randomness doesn't appeal to me that much. If I feel like I get screwed purely by chance too many times then I usually drop a game. The setting and art style look cool to me though.
